Wisconsin Recall Elections Results Watch Thread
Can you help follow what’s happening in Wisconsin today?
If you recall, when the Democrats in the Wisconsin legislature fled the state earlier in the year in a reckless attempt to prevent a vote to end the public sector union’s ability to bankrupt the state, Democrats then decided to launch recall elections to get rid of the Republicans in the legislature as retaliation.
That process comes to a head today, with the recall election.
Already, Governor Walker’s reforms pertaining to the public sector unions have saved Wisconsin millions — and in some districts have rescued budgets from the red, eliminating the need for layoffs.
Democrats and the labor unions are tied at the hip, as one cannot exist without the other, and both need as much tax money funneled into the Democrat Party as possible to survive.
Today is all about seeing if the people of Wisconsin can really see the Democrats for what they are.
What do you expect to happen?

From what I've been hearing on the radio this morning, voter turnout in Alberta Darling's district appears to be strong. Daily KOS did a poll this week that showed a dead heat in most of the contests, but it appears that the incumbants (R) were gaining a lot of momentum in the last week or so. Historically, that bodes well…
Thing that is going to make or break this election for either side is voter turnout. Hopefully a beautiful Wisconsin August day won't keep people from the polls!!
Re: Wisconsin…I got this last evening. Not sure if it will help, but thought I would send it to Hillbuzz.
What can we do to help?
The Pennsylvania Republican Party (PA GOP) has asked us to do everything that we can to help today, tomorrow and next week to hold on to these seats. There are elections both tomorrow August 9th and next Tuesday, August 16th.
PA GOP staff, field team and interns are working to set up phone banks as quickly as possible to help our Republican State Senators in Wisconsin, but this will not be successful without your help! This is a great test of our grassroots abilities that proved so effective in 2010! Pennsylvania has asked other states for help like this in the past and they have been there for us. Now it is our turn!
Helping out is simple!
Making calls from home is easy. Simply log into the website below using the user name and password. PA GOP's account will track how many calls the Commonwealth is making in these very important recall elections. Please distribute this information to anyone that you know who is willing and able to help and if you can give a few hours, we thank you for your help.

I don't hold out for a positive result. I have talked to a couple people from WI. They just don't seem to get it. It is only a sample poll, but I am basing my outcome on the few idiots I polled.
palin patriot, take heart. The people of Wisconsin were not fooled in the Kloppenberg/Prosser contest.
Furthermore, were the few idiots you polled Dems to begin with? Or are they moderates who prefer their cucumbers soft and their mayonnaise extra-bland who are switching their votes?
The talk radio show I'm listening to right now has people phoning in who have voted this morning. They are reporting the turnout is huge. The talk show host says this is a good sign. It seems the silent majority is showing up. I sincerely hope he is right.
I live in Alberta Darling's district and voted for her sometime between 10:20 and 10:45 this morning.
What I noticed:
I live in the heavily Republican section of her district and was voter number 885, I even had to wait in line for a few minutes.
I have been receiving a lot of notices concerning this election, mostly favoring Senator Darling. Though I have noticed some more advertising for her opponent recently. The most obvious being when they had people standing on a pedestrian walkway over 45 holding signs and waving flags while, apparently scowling at the cars below them (I can't say for certain but that is what it looked like as I drove by).
I plan to leave work early and see if there is anything I can do to help out at the office nearest to my home.
Long time lurker here. I have family up in Wisconsin. They have a fleebagger for their senator whose is up for recall next week. I just want to share this. My sister is very politically apathetic, but in past few months, she felt it was her job to vote for Prosser for the Supreme Court. I assume she also plan to vote the fleebagger out next week. As I see it, the democrats up there are motivating the politically apathetics to vote for the conservatives. Lets hope this will turn out to be true.
Althouse writes that about a Citizens group conducting exit polls but she is not familiar with it http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/08/citizens-to-…
Instigated by "the Election Defense Alliance, a nonpartisan national group that monitors elections," as reported in Isthmus.
The purpose of citizen exit polling, say organizers, is to monitor the "integrity" of elections that rely on computerized machines to tally votes. Concerns about the validity of electronic voting machines in the 2004 elections, as well as the mishandling of some 14,000 ballots by the Waukesha county clerk in the recent Supreme Court race, have brought the issue to the fore in Wisconsin and elsewhere.
LI is a good place to go for this election http://legalinsurrection.com/2011/08/wisconsin-re…
wow, read the last bullet, really?
•DefendWisconsin.org, a pro-Democratic union of U. Wisconsin teaching assistants, already is complaining about voter intimidation.

Another NRO post – Walker’s Darling The Darling–Pasch race is the “crown jewel” of the recalls. http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/274076/wal…
"But before Darling puts a napkin on her lap, an elderly man with ancient hands approaches, places a palm on her shoulder, and says, “You’re the strongest woman I know.” She thanks him. A second later, she scans the room and spies numerous retirees, early risers breaking their fast on over-easy eggs and black coffee. So she gets up and makes the rounds, moving from table to table in a bright blue T-shirt emblazoned with her name and Old Glory. Several minutes later, we settle back in. “It’s all about the ground game,” she says."
I am also certain that the mob attacks will not help. This could be an example of something negative that can be turned to the positive. Nothing like mob actions to spur people on. I pray for Wisconsin.
What time do the polls close?
Polls close at 9pm EST tonight.
The turnout has been tremendous … ultimately, we start finding out after 8:00 CDT tonight.
On one radio show I was listening to, a young man called in and said many of the people who he was standing in line with were frustrated that they had to vote for the same person again, after voting for them once only about 18-24 months ago. So that's encouraging.
Even though our Voter ID law is not officially in effect yet, for these elections, voters are being asked to show ID, so that is encouraging.
Wisconsin swung bright red last November. Those folks are still there and still voting red. I have heard from a friend that the thugs are out in full force trying to intimidate the voters. According to her it is backfiring. Folks are mad! Go Wisconsin!!!
I hope you're correct, 56survivor … right now Cowles (SD2) and Harsdorf (SD10) have been declared winners by the AP … Olsen (SD14) is ahead while Hopper (SD18) is too close to call. Kapanke (SD32) is behind (but he is expected to lose), and Darling (SD8) … that one is hung up (Waukesha Co. is a part of that district) right now.

Breaking news on Fox says we republicans have won enough seats to hold onto our majority!!!
I find it very funny that so much outside union money flooded into Wisconsin to try and sway this recall election…and we still held on…so now they wasted their money LOL!
happy happy
We Won!, 4R 2D, and next week the two fleebaggers are up for votes!
Darling & Pasch was a nail biting, rum & coke event. Yeah, Darling pulled it out…Thank God……
I hope that Pasch does not do a Kloppenberg. Darling is well in front… but the unions want that seat.
