Will Hurricane Sandy Sway East Coast Voters?
The victims of hurricane Sandy are still suffering, a week after the storm destroyed their homes and lives. Obama doesn’t even mention it on the campaign trail, and I’m wondering if the voters in New York and New Jersey will turn on Obama because of it. There are over a million people who still don’t have power, and a Noreaster storm is approaching. It’s absolutely disgusting to witness how pathetic the emergency response has been for these people. For God’s sake, we have Navy ships that could have been to those islands in a day with emergency supplies! Look how fast our Navy responded to the tsunami in Japan.
I pray for these people every day, and made my own donation to Salvation Army, but I expect there is going to be huge blow back against the inept Obama administration. What do you think?

I think there will be blowback…but I don’t know if there will be enough by tomorrow morning to make a difference! NY/NJ were gonna go blue anyway…so not sure how it will help R/R but it could knock down Obama’s total votes….

We MUST BE VIGILANT and keep an eye out for fraud! We must be ready to call them on it! We must be ready to document it and report it!
So thankful for Kevin and his POSITIVE out-look!
Re that article about calling victory early–I hope it’s so obvious right off the bat we won’t have to worry about that. I have said previously I worked on the Reagan 80 campaign and we had NO idea what was going to happen–the polls had them neck-and-neck and in those days of course no internet or anything. My folks and I seriously were in a state of shock when Walter Cronkite called it VERY early on in the evening for Reagan–like VERY early. We all stood there literally with our mouths open, looking at each other and thinking “Did he really just say that?” There were issues with some people on the west coast and in Hawaii who were still in line to vote….
So I hope that’s what happens tomorrow night. Not sure, but one can hope.
My In-laws who live in PA, the living in areas without power have said that they are saving gasoline specifically so they will have enough gas to go vote for Romney tomorrow! They used to live in Jersey but moved a couple miles west back into PA because they couldn’t afford the taxes.
Hopefully the people of the area can now see what an empty chair Obama really is. Hopefully people can really see what an empty space the Democratic Party really is.
I don’t think at this point it will affect voting. Obama supporters seem to find a reason to give him a pass on any mistake he makes.
Add to that the alphabet news is willing to blame everyone and everything, including Romney for this disaster, so as always, Obama becomes like Teflon.
But, I do believe his time to pay the piper is coming. They didn’t think they could take down Al Capone or John Gotti either and eventually they both went to jail.
I sincerely hope folks can get through this with as little delay and deprivation as possible. I have been in that situation…way more than once. Prayers up for their good.
It’s always interesting to see how differently folks react to major weather events from culture to culture and location to location.
Help coming too slowly?
How about help not coming at all?
It would be valuable to know if the unions have had a continuing influence on the pace of the response and cleanup. Have they really stopped obstructing or are they still contributing to some of this, and we’re just not hearing about it?
Hopefully this can lead to more folks being able to find ways of being better prepared for the unexpected/unthinkable. Clearly it’s not just the storms these city folks have to protect themselves from.
To be sure, being better prepared can be easier said than done while living in the city, but it can also be exponentially more important to one’s survival in an emergency. For city dwellers I think a month’s supply of food and basic necessities for a family and its pets is not unreasonable in these uncertain times when response times grow longer and accountability disappears.
Fortunately the new long-term storage foods are a lot lighter and more compact than they used to be, making room for more water storage, which is the real challenge. It’s heavy and takes up a lot of space. If you live in a small house or apartment every square foot matters. But water is a must. (Both kinds, potable and nonpotable.)
It can be done, though. We managed it in an 800 sq. foot beach bungalow, utilizing a bit of cleverly constructed food furniture and some fancy table cloths. lol I know I’m preaching to the choir.
Americans have long been the hardest and most productive workers in the world. So it’s difficult to watch the spirit if despair projected in this clip. These folks need our prayers and encouragement every bit as much as they need good fresh water and safe shelter. They want what we’d all want in those circumstances: they want to go home. We need to lift them up.
This is America. We overcome stuff. We do it with God’s Help and guidance and we do it every time.
Watch us give a demonstration of this tomorrow.
Gallup is trying to get us to believe that because of Sandy Romney lost 2% and Obama gained 2%.
Sorry but people don’t make choices on a 90 min visit to New Jersey, it was a campaign stop.
Romney will win, and win big like 1980 when Reagan won a landslide. Obama’s attacks on Romney don’t give people a reason to vote for him, his base is angry at him, Obama is failing
I can’t see Sandy helping Obama in any way whatsoever. If some voters really look at Obama after the hurricane, and think that now he deserves their vote, then they were looking for ANY reason to vote for him.
For days, people were warned of a ‘frankenstorm’. Did the commander-in-chief heed the warnings and preemptively prepare for the consequences of the storm? No… BUT Home Depot and Lowe’s did with trucks filled with necessary cleanup supplies waiting out of the path of the storm to come in and sell the necessary supplies…
For months, our people in Libya warned of a potential terrorist attack. Did the commander-in-chief, or the CIA, or the State Department or [WHO's in charge here?] preemptively prepare for a possible attack? No…
The guy has got to go!!!
Vote, folks… Pray for better days through better ways… Romney / Ryan…
I wish I had something positive to say but I don’t.
I can’t believe Obama has a single senior supporter after he economically raped them through medicare cuts that start next year.
I can’t believe Obama has any support in states with coal mines like Pa and Ohio knowing Obama is working as we speak to close down every coal mine nationwide. For God’s sake he has the endorsement of the United Mine Workers knowing all this.
If anything came out of ths storm it should be that a big nanny state gov’t with no respect for life won’t be there and won’t care about you when you need them most.
Knowing all of this Pa, Ohio, seniors, and NY and NJ will all vote for him because frankly they are stupid and deserve what they get.
Romney will win that is clear. I am bit jaded though and lacking respect for my fellow man at the moment knowing all of the people Obama has stabbed in the back yet vote for him anyway.
Mark Said: “Knowing all of this Pa, Ohio, seniors, and NY and NJ will all vote for him because frankly they are stupid and deserve what they get”
Really Mark? Stupid? Oh boy. There are many of us in NY that never voted for Obama. The problem we have in this state is the way NYC votes. We have a very active Tea Party here on Long Island & are doing all we can to make sure we can say “President Romney” at the next inauguration.
After the hurricane, the first thing we all did on my block was congregate in the street & check on the damage. We rely on our neighbors first. We prepared the way you should when a storm is coming. We checked on friends to see how they made out. Our home is always open to our friends when they are in need. That is how I was raised & that’s how I have raised my boys. We all know not to rely on Govt for anything. Family, friends & neighbors are who you can count on.
- I pray the storm opened the eyes of many of those in NYC who lost so much & find the govt is ignoring their needs.
LongIslander-your situation is another great example of why our Founders were so smart for creating the Electoral Process.
Demoncats have been talking about getting rid of the electoral college through back doors.
The electoral college protects the rural and less populated areas by preventing the populated cities from having dominance and control.
I hope you and your friends are okay & safe. My prayers are with you.
The United Mine Workers of America endorsed Obama in 2008 but haven’t endorsed either candidate this time.
Cold and hunger are powerful motivations. Places like Staten Island are 44% dem/30% rep/19% ind. I doubt you would see any mass exodus of democrats, but I bet every republican who can walk or crawl will try to vote. I also think more of the independents will try to vote Romney. All of these big Manhattan events have got to be pissing off a lot of the refugees.
I just heard the National Guard has to move out of the armory to make room for a Victoria’s Secret show. That would make me crazy if I was heating my house with candles. How about you?
The National Guard having to move out for a fashion show is outrageous! Why aren’t those people housed there for the short term?
For that matter, I would think with the millions of people in Manhatten that didn’t have their lives disrupted by the storm that the aid would be overflowing. Can’t any of them donate some food, clothing and other needed supplies? Do all the donations have to come from other parts of the country? I am starting to believe that most of them are a bunch of selfish pigs!
i was feeling a little disheartened about media telling us how close this race is..till i read hillbuzz today..i am now a believer..reagan did it, romney will do it too!
Help! knock me out until wednesday. My rescue inhaler is empty.
The media is overconfident of Obama win. It is inexplicable. Their facial expressions match their words.
This is worse than having a baby. At least then you know for sure something great is at the end of all the pain.
I am hysterical, I admit it!
Turn down the sound and watch, their faces look like defeat.
I believe the adage “all politics is local” will apply here. Obama will get a pass, but the mayors won’t fare as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a recall Bloomberg effort.
Bet they wish they still had Rudy. Didn’t the city change the law so Bloomy could run more than 2 times, what a mistake that was!
America’s mayor is blasting both Obama & Bloomberg.

It’s an Ed Morrissey article, & he doesn’t play the eyore game.
It is beyond me how a president showing up for a few minutes can make a difference ! That is what presidents are supposed to do. Are people that ignorant to let that sway their vote? I sure hope not. What has Obama done? Other than a photo op, not much. I am still mad at Christie for going overboard with the compliments to Obama. Completely unnecessary. I do think that may have helped Obama. I am so glad Romney did not choose Christie as his running mate. This storm aftermath looks like a dismal FEMA failure to me. I somehow think that for a lot of these poor people, the last thing on their minds right now is voting tomorrow. Not when they have bigger concerns, like no place to live. I am praying for them.
Did you see Rasmussen’s October part ID poll of 15,000 likely voters.
R+6
If that’s true, it’s not going to be a Romney landslide, but a political seismic shift.
http://www.breitbart.com/InstaBlog/2012/11/05/Why-the-Polls-are-Wrong-Poll-Shows-Electorate-is-R-6
This reminds me of 1980 also. I went into a concert that night fully confident Carter would win easy (I was a D then). Came out to the shock of the Reagan landslide.
“… a political seismic shift.”
I have to go towel off.
I agree with you, Tamminator. When the NY Daily News endorses a Republican, there is major blow back. Those poor suffering people.
I’m not upset at all the Minitru propaganda. I’m positively giddy about it. My wife thinks I’m nuts. I’m soaking it all in, and laughing at the prospect of watching MSNBC go Jonestown on us.
If the CNN poll was right, it means Romney wins by at least 20. They claimed it was 49-49. However, if you take away the D+11, it means Romney is ahead 60-39. Thenk if you take Rasmussen’s R+5, that means Romney wins 65-34.
All the stuffed ballots in mobsters’ trunks, all the non-English-speaking Haitian immigrants, all the “Voter suppression” whining, won’t mean a hill of beans by this time tomorrow night.
