Will Hillary Clinton make a primary challenge in 2012?

Posted on September 29, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

2012?

2012?

Dick Morris is hard to watch and listen to.

Hard to hear, mainly, because whenever he’s on TV he’s drowned out by the shouting of those around us, often including ourselves, because the man’s appearance on any show is greated with “Pig!”, “Toe-sucker!”, “Prostitute Pedicurist!”, and variations along that theme. He truly is human swine, and we honestly don’t think he’s ever right about much.

Dick Morris hates the Clintons and the Clintons hate him.

But, last night on FOX Morris said something very provocative, in passing, during an interview with O’Reilly.  The two of them were talking about President Clinton bringing up “the vast Right Wing conspiracy” line Hillary Clinton used during a Today Show interview 11 years ago, and O’Reilly asked why he would do that.  Morris launched into an exasperated diatribe about how this was essentially part of some vast Clintonian conspiracy to take the 2012 nomination away from Dr. Utopia.

Morris believes:

(1) Former President Clinton is focusing on keeping the Clinton brand out there and constantly in the news, while making hits and stirring pots that Hillary Clinton never has to.

(2) Hillary Clinton removed herself from the disaster that is domestic affairs in this administration deliberately so she can’t be blamed for any of it.

(3) Hillary Clinton is enjoying her time at State while politically calculating everything she does so that she can’t be blamed for anything bad in three years.

(4) When Dr. Utopia’s approval ratings dip to the 30s, Hillary Clinton begins her challenge for the 2012 nomination.

Morris elaborated on these points, asking O’Reilly incredulously, “Don’t you think it’s strange Hillary Clinton hasn’t said a single word about healthcare when that’s been her passion and central policy point for years?  That was the center plank in her 2008 campaign but she’s not out there selling the healthcare plan and isn’t finding ways as Secretary of State to highlight the healthcare efforts” (which, frankly, she could easily do if she wanted in a whole host of ways).

O’Reilly did think it was odd.

Morris explained Clinton knows Dr. Utopia was in trouble with the healthcare plan from the start and never wanted her fingerprints on it.  In other interviews, we’ve heard Morris push the idea that Deathcare is Clinton’s revenge on Dr. Utopia — that during the primaries when she knew the DNC was going to give the nomination to Dr. Utopia, Clinton stayed in the race just to keep hammering on healthcare so that candidate Utopia would have to do the same thing in the General Election and would then be forced to take on healthcare overhaul in the first year of his presidency…crippling him once that failed (which Clinton knew it would).

Morris also notes Hillary Clinton never talks about Afghanistan or Iraq and “hasn’t even said the word ‘Afghanistan’ as Secretary of State”.  Why?  Morris once again insists Clinton is deliberately avoiding anything she can be tarred with later.  That calls to mind her vote on the Iraq War during Bush’s administration, the vote Dr. Utopia maligned her with so effectively in the campaign.  If she had voted against the authorization to use force to allow the UN inspectors to do their job, she would have been painted as weak and that would have damaged her presidential chances…but the catch was that in 2008 Dr. Utopia took advantage of a changing tide of public sentiment and turned that vote against her.

Morris says Clinton is making sure Dr. Utopia takes all the blame for everything his administration does, while she gets to keep a low profile when she wants and reemerge whenever she pleases in lights that best suit her.  He insists she’s “on the wrong side” of the Honduras issue and is spending all of her time on that because “no one cares about Honduras”; to Morris, it’s a convenient excuse for her to look busy and be involved in something that few are paying attention to, but that keeps her from having to be involved in other disasters of Dr. Utopia’s doing.

Dr. Utopia’s foolish and naive policies towards the Missile Shield, the Iranian nuclear arsenal, North Korea, and carbon emissions are not Hillary Clinton’s problems…because she is keeping that foolishness as far removed from her as possible.

Ultimately, if Morris is right, in 2010 or 2011 it feels like Hillary Clinton will use one of Dr. Utopia’s failures as an excuse to leave State, making a speech in which she says she can no longer continue in the administration when she disagrees so strongly with the course this current president has set.  Possibly, this could be related to Afghanistan, because everything we hear about the interaction between the White House and the boots on the ground there points to an epic fail coming fast and furious, with a Taliban resurgence in tow.  If Dr. Utopia’s only talking to his commanding generals in the field once every three months or so, then victory in Afghanistan is clearly no priority to him.  Dr. Utopia consistently insists we can “just hug it out” everywhere, and that if America apologizes for everything and appears humble and weak then the rest of the world will sit back and say, “Oh, this is so cute. America is no longer the villain we paint it as.  American is now adorable.  They want to give us hugs and kisses, so let’s all bake cupcakes for a big global picnic where all the teddy bears will come to dance”.

There are times when military people, in particular, are talking to the current president where he looks like he’s seriously imagining teddy bears at that picnic, drinking Kool-Aid and playing tag.  Or, maybe he’s imagining Tyson Beckford shirtless at the car wash, again, having a suds and studs water fight with the Stanford water polo team. Again. We have no idea what craziness lurks in the mind of this naive fool.

As far as Morris’ comments go, we always default back to something a close friend of Hillary Clinton’s said to a roomful of her supporters back in the summer of 2008.  Her campaign was suspended (but not ended), and about 25 of us were in a breakfast for her at Navy Pier before she spoke at a teacher’s union event.  Her friend stood up and thanked everyone for their loyalty to her, and all the hard work and sacrifices we made on her behalf.  He told us everything we did would never be forgotten, by the Clintons or by him personally.  And then he closed his remarks by reminding everyone that Hillary Clinton is a very young 61…that she would clearly not be President of the United States in 2009…BUT THAT SHE WOULD BE PRESIDENT.

He didn’t say when, or how, but was certain of it.

Which is how we’ve always felt too.

Her challenge is, however, the same one that McCain faced unsuccessfully in 2008:  how can Clinton win the presidency if she energizes her moderate base and gets all the conservatives Dems and a large swath of the independents but doesn’t turn out her liberal base (McCain lost because Republicans did not turn out to vote for him…and he got 2 million fewer votes than Bush did as a result, more than enough to have made a big difference in many states McCain could have won).

Accepting the Secretary of State job not only allowed Clinton to escape all of Dr. Utopia’s domestic troubles, but it made Liberals see what a good Democrat Clinton is…that she put aside the 2008 campaign and went to help her rival’s administration…how magnanimous of her.  It was the same thing when she campaigned for Dr. Utopia in 2008…she did that to get herself in front of his supporters so they would stop seeing her as a villain.  Clinton needs those Liberals the same way McCain needed the conservatives to support him.  She will definitely not make her friend from Arizonia’s fatal mistake in that regard.

Are the Clintons up to something?

We hope so.

Will it be a challenge to Dr. Utopia in 2012?

We hope so.

Will we do everything we can to support whatever Clinton decides to do, whenever she decides to do it?

For the rest of our lives, baby.

While Dick Morris is as reliable and accurate as he is handsome and svelt, we’d love for him to be right about “the vast Clintonian conspiracy” because we’d sure love another crack at Dr. Utopia in caucuses and primaries where he’d no longer have ACORN, the SEIU, the Black Panthers, and his other gangs of Kool-Aid thugs to do his dirty work for him.

As ACORN, in particular, continues to crumble and people like Andrew Breitbart keep setting up more of Dr. Utopia’s dirty supporters to fall, we can, like Morris, imagine Hillary Clinton sitting back, watching it all with great interest, plotting and scheming.

And man alive, don’t we love her for it.

Plot, Hillary, Plot!

Scheme, Hillary, Scheme!

I’ve always contended that HRC has something up her sleeve, yet to be revealed. And I’ve further believed that neither she nor Bill nor Chelsea nor her brother, etc., voted for Utopia. How could she? HE CHEATED! The DNC CHEATED. At least McCain is a patriot (who needs to stop supporting ILLEGALS!).

I’d like to see Hillary get her four years, followed by a well-fortified (by study and experience) Sarah Palin. However, for those of us completely and forever disenchanted with the Democrat Party, and party politics in general, I’d prefer it if she would run as an independent.

To do otherwise, I’d have to see the entire Dem Party leadership ousted and replaced by PUMAs. I’d need to see total transparency in every facet of the party, from the bottom up. Too many local machines (Jersey City, NJ, and all of Hudson County; Chicago, IL; for example) are filthy dirty disgustingly nauseatingly CORRUPT.

Go rogue, Hillary. Go rogue! Yes you can!

      Sarah vs Hillary?

Possible. But the black community will be so attached to their messiah that he will win again and that will be the political end for Hillary.
If Hillary wants to challenge the messiah in 2012 she needs to be out of SOS office by January 2011.

But even if she manages to defeat the messiah, the party will come divided and Sarah Palin could become the Obama 2 for the Clintons.

THis is classic HB, and why I love coming here. You always have interesting things to say and make me think, but on top of that you put pictures in my head that make me laugh.

You know I would love to have Hillary run in 12. Look how bad Barky is screwing up and it hasn’t even been a YEAR yet.
Healthcare is a big concern of mine, because of my son and millions like him with preexisting conditions ect, BUT I never could understand HOW Obama thought he could get this done, when he spent the time and money in the primaries argueing against Mandates insurance and pulled out the old Harry and Louis adds.
Since Obama said differeent things to different poeple depending on what he thought THEY wanted to hear, people have to start realizing how many of his promises were lies that he had no intention of doing. Hopefully in another year his numbers will be so low, the Dems will need someone to run against him or risk losing the GE. Hopefully 2010 will be a big backlash against the Dems.

With more and more conservative sites waxing nostalgic for the Clinton years, most are asking “Where’s Hillary?”. She should be front and center on Afghanistan, not PBO.

I’ll give her one more year, punch up her foreign policy creds, then smack PBO upside the head with a primary challenge. In my perfect world….:)

I can’t stand Dick Morris. Honest. He gives me the creeps…sometimes…some of these ‘scandals’ leave you with such a mental image…that well, Mr. Morris (IMO) needs to pontificate from a blog someplace. I don’t like his mug on Fox…BUT…

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. And I hope he is right here.

Hillary I keep saying (and posting) is the sanity in this ChicagoMafia that has taken over. She has been so quiet that I can’t help but wonder that she is biding her time; yet doing what she can (at State) to thwart the total take over. Bill, reviving the VRWC song on Sunday made me question ‘what the he## are you thinking?’ Was Bill carrying The Won’s water? Or was he moving the chess pieces? Only time will tell…but I hope the later (and Morris) are correct.

Stay strong Hillary…alot of us are pulling for you!!!

Dick Morris is like some fake psychics and straw polls. He goes with public perception rather than facts.
What Hillary does and doesn’t is related to how Sarah performs in the next 2 years. If the Republicans take congress that will be seen work of Sarah.
Hillary knows Sarah could eaily beat her as America first female presidedential nominee and president.
When Sarah announces her candidacy is when Obama and Hillary will start making their moves.
When Sarah wins Iowa caucuses then Obama might even fire Biden and put Hillary as VP.
Obama knows he needs Hillary on his side. And Hillary knows without Obambi, she cant win.
I see Obama keeping Hillary with him and Sarah beating both of them in 2012.
      Anyways Sarah becomes POTUS.

Hillary will make run in 2012. Hillbuzz, from your mouth to God’s ears!!!

I think Obama is finding out right about now, the presidency is no piece of cake. It is not as much fun as campaigning, which he tries to do continually, rather than actually BEING president. It’s no fun having to deal with Iran and nuclear weapons, it’s no fun having to make life and death decisions about Afghanistan, it’s no fun having to reform a very complicated health care system, the list goes on and on. If Hillary was our president, I would have more faith in the outcome of these situations.

HELL YES she’s running in 2012. I knew that all along the minute I heard she was taking the SOS postition. Problem is that 0zero is so bad that the plan is starting to become clear even to idiots like Morris.

She’s TOTALLY doing what I thought she would do. Both HRC and BJC KNEW that they couldn’t stop the Hopey Changey train, but what they could do is give That One the spotlight, let him establish a REAL record and stand out of the way and let him fall on his own. By 2012, the Obots will be begging “Save us, Hilary!”

And THAT, my dear BUZZards is how you play 11th dimensional chess.

The Clintons and Dick Morris hate each other because they know each other so well. I’m no Morris fan, but this time he’s batting .1000. If called upon, would he again work with Hil and Bill and they with him? If doing so got the desired results, you bet your life. It ain’t personal, it’s politics.
I keep thinking about that old saw about age and treachery beating youth and enthusiasm every time. Seems to apply in this case. The Clintons are wised up and refreshed. The longer time goes by the more Obama looks less like a president and more like a front man — like someone’s arm is up his backside moving his mouth. The truly nefarious people are the behind-the-scenes players with this country’s demise their agenda. Thems the ones that gotta be beat.

    You know, anything could happen.

I’ve been intrigued since the timing of the ACORN films, followed closely by the Obama/Bill Clinton luncheon, followed by Bill concurring that the vast right wing conspiracy was all wee wee’d up again.

I don’t really know enough about the Clintons to guess, but I will anyway, that there was some sort of deal making going on.

It’s all kind of chuckleworthy really. I love imagining Obama being in a panic mode and needing to ask for help from a real power player.

It’s only 9 mos. into this term, I find it to be pretty good strategy for any serious candidate to sit back a bit and let the libtards dig their own holes.

Good article. Yeah, Morris is infatuated and obsessed with the Clinton’s, as is Rush. They’re all he can talk about this week on his radio show. They can’t get over the Clinton’s power and popularity. It’s hilarious the way Rush goes on and on about them, pretending to hate them. Actually, I believe he admires them, but has to keep up his talking points — he’d much rather talk about them than the current Obama. Obama seems just plain evil — Bill and Hillary are multi-dimensional and very good politicians and great and interesting people. Yes, I’m a bit obsessed, too!!!

This would be fabulous! While, I tooooottally think she’s on the complete wrong side of the Honduras issue and it makes me insane (and I work at State and have to hear about it all the time), just about no one else knows enough for this to seriously hurt her.

Hillary as president with a Republican controlled Congress would be a lovely, wonderful, happy turn from the depths of despair we’re in now! I’d even consider registering as a democrat to vote for her in the primaries. Though, it wouldn’t likely help in DC where Obama’s got 92% approval right now. But, maybe I’ll live somewhere else by then!

Erin I feel the same way about Honduras – I am wrapped around the axle over it, but concede that it isn’t exactly the focus of town hall meetings.

My DH said ‘hey she’s doing her job.’ I (reluctantly) suppose.

Which is funny because my DH used to be a Clinton hater in the 90s, but voted for HRC in the primaries. What strange political journeys we go on.

The more possible scenario could be Hillary stepping down of SOS in 2011. By this time Sarah’s book would have sold over 5 millions copies.

With Sarah as clear front runner for the GOP nomination and the boost she will generate nationally, Hillary might just join her in beating the dangerous Messiah.

I think the real problem here is getting Palin the nomination. It’s about as unlikely as Hillary getting it if she tries again. For some the Repubs are more interested in Romney and Pawlenty or even Huckabee. What is wrong with you R’s? She is the only one that could win the general against O, no doubt in my mind.

If she were to get the nomination and was against Hillary, Palin would probably win, as it seems like the country is now desperately afraid of all Dems being socia/fasc/marx/commies. The Dem party may be living it’s final days under O. And that’s what they get. I agree with GNHo, she needs to leave the party.

And as much as I love Palin, I don’t think there would be any way she would beat Hillary in 2012. Maybe in 2016…maybe. Hillary would slaughter her in 2012, but Hillary would also need to really go farther to the right to do so…not sure if she would want to do that. You guys are more of an expert on her than I am.

With ACORN getting killed she may have a shot. But, if they do not get out of the game the caucuses will be a blood bath this time around. Angry people that figured out they were screwed by these people last time will be out to make sure it does not happen again.

We have to start now making sure all of their arms including SEIU are gone from the DNC before any more elections are held. If they are not, I don’t care who wins the American people will not accept it because they will know it was a fraud by ACORN and the DNC.

If you are referring to her college thesis on the Alensky way, her paper concluded it was not the way to go.

True, Hillary STUDIED Alinsky in college and wrote a thesis on his methods. But she specifically stated that she doesn’t think Alinsky-ism is the way to go and her life as an adult attests to this. If Hillary were an Alinsky-ite, she would have grown up to be like Bill Ayers or the Obamas or the people who run ACORN; she wouldn’t be the person that she is today.

FWIW, I studied Alinsky in college as well, although not in depth as Hillary did. Does that make me an Alinsky-ite? Of course not. I once did a rather extensive sociology class project on white nationalism. Does that make me a skinhead or a neo-Nazi? Hell, no! One of my friends did a study on religious cults, which involved a trip to a particular cult’s compound, but she never joined that cult or any other.

It bugged the crap out of me that Morris questioned Hillary not bringing up healthcare. Right. And how many people would be jumping down the Secretary of State’s throat if she so much as commented on subjects outside of her sphere of responsibilities? Boy, she can’t catch a break either way.

exactly. morris is full of it, as usual. there’s no way hillary challenges obama in 2012. she’d never do that to the dem party, even if she privately thought obama was doing a terrible job.

I agree. Hillary will no challenge the Messiah. The Messiah is too powerfull and has all the presidential machine, just like Carter. She would prefer he losing and then gear up for 2016.

I agree. She had an ugly loss (steal) last year, she surely wouldn’t want to risk that again.

I know one thing, if it were Hill vs. Cuda, at least I could breathe again…wouldn’t matter who won, I’d feel safe again.

Other possibilities, aside from Hillary challenging Obama directly:

        1. He pulls a Johnson (no, not THAT kind of Johnson– I mean like Lyndon Johson), which clears Hillary’s path to run in 2012.

        2. Some scandal erupts, which the Clintons may or may not be able to see on the horizon at this point, which results in Obama resigning, a la Nixon.

Morris is wrong about Hillary never talking about Afghanistan, though. She spoke about it at length on “Face The Nation” and I have heard and read her views about it elsewhere. But it is true that Hillary is keeping a low profile as far as the media is concerned. You pretty much have to hang out on all the pro-Hillary websites and blogs to find out where she is, what she’s doing, and what her views are on various issues. She is extremely busy and has already made several overseas trips, so she doesn’t have time to do the kind of media events we saw during her campaign.
