Why is it so hard to ban wasteful ridiculous projects?
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/45724.html
This is part of a much bigger problem, but eight Republicans refused to ban ridiculous, money wasting, pork projects.
Even though they knew the measure would fail because Democrats would vote against it.
They just didn’t want to be on record against pork because they live for the stuff.
Worse, Lisa Murkowski proves people in Alaska love it too…her write in campaign was all about keeping pork flowing.
How do we change this culture?

The Federal Government shouldn’t be paying for this.
If Alaska loves the waste then why don’t they pay for all their earmarks. When they have to pay for the crap LeNa JaBrowski gives them they will turn on it.
Earmarks are election bribes with your money!!!
Alaskans are welfare queens.
Everyone who voted for LeNa proves it. They are no better than all those frauds with hands out for Obama Money from Pigford.
that is so true.
Joe Miller said Alaska could be economically independent.
Joe Miller didn’t handle his campaign well.
will this face more scrutiny in January, or is it a done deal..surprising that even a few repubs went for it..
Again. We will have to fire Congressmen until they get it right. Nothing would please me more than to see Cantor turned out in the next primary. FIRE ‘TIL WE GET IT RIGHT.
So Princess MurkyCow was chosen over a sensible conservative…in a write-in campaign.
Way to go, Alaska. Way to go.
Pretty interesting, MurkyCow must be appeasing the little people right now.
Murkowski was helped mainly by the Dems and the Native corporations…the election is still in the courts and now that the vote counting has been moved to Juneau, my take is that Murky will win. The Election committee said that they can’t guarantee the security of the ballots. Makes me want to ……grrrrrrrr.
There was one shocker to the vote though. ClairBear put down here Sammich and voted to ban the earmarks one of just a few Dims to do so.
If amnesty comes up again, she will almost have to vote against it (she already did once on the McCain tragedy of a few years ago). Her BIG – BIG promise to Missouri voters was to never support amnesty – hopefully she sticks to it.
Honestly Kevin the only answer is have people turn back to God. To me at least, you either believe in God or Socialism. Too many believe in Socialism. It is sad as Socialism may make you comfortable but it doesn’t work miracles.
I wonder, if all money bills are supposed to originate in the House, why can’t the House sue in Fed. court, on constitutional grounds, to stop any spending that didn’t pass through their chamber? Stop earmarks that way. And why not include members spending for their district is a bill that is voted on? Why does it have to be behind the scenes? Just asking–really don’t know the answer.
