Why Hillary Clinton Will Not Replace Joe Biden as VP on the 2012 Ticket
I’m debating whether or not to make this a sticky post — and keep it up here permanently through 2012 – because nearly every day someone in the solipsistic media lazily posits “Will Hillary Clinton replace Joe Biden as VP?”.
The answer is no — no, Hillary Clinton will not run as Obama’s VP.
The reason is simple — because Hillary Clinton would be a fool to set herself up as a scapegoat for Obama’s 2012 loss, and Hillary Clinton is no fool.
The caveat is this — the only way Hillary Clinton would ever even consider running as VP in 2012 is if she was assured beyond any shadow of doubt that Obama would win; if there is even a 5% chance that Obama would lose, Hillary would want nothing at all to do with the ticket because she would not want to be blamed for the loss.
The ultimate reality remains — if there WAS a guarantee that Obama would win, the Left would neither want (nor need) Hillary Clinton on the ticket because the Left knows Hillary would purge Obama acolytes from the Party the first chance she had to do so…and why would the power-hungry Leftists willingly choose to position the woman they deliberately shunted to the side in 2008 to inherit the Party in 2016 (when they know full well she’d enact vengeance upon everyone who took the nomination away from her in 2008)?
For those of you who enjoy the fantasy of Hillary bumping Biden off the ticket, you really need to take some time and really think about how Democrat internal power politics work. Grudge-holding and the punishing of individuals on a personal level for political failings is a hallmark of the Democrat Party. Republicans aren’t like this, and allow people to run again and again for various positions, regardless of how many times they lose. Conservatives are amnesiacs and are easily distracted by social issue pandering, so they tend to forget that someone like Willard “Mitt” Romney lost a very winnable Senate race against Ted Kennedy in 1994…or that he ran away from a re-election bid in 2006 in Massachusetts because he knew he could not win a second term as Governor…or that in 2008 Romney couldn’t beat McCain in the primaries (and McCain was the man who couldn’t beat Obama in the general election). The Democrat Party punishes people like this, while Republicans at large tend to forget about them until they decide “it’s his turn!” to be the nominee for something again.
Barack Obama would like nothing more than to have Hillary Clinton replace Joe Biden on the 2012 ticket — as an insurance policy…so that when he’d lose, he could blame Hillary and purposefully make the rest of her life a living Hell by having people point at her at every possible occasion and shout “That’s the b**** who kept the black man from having a second term!”.
“It’s All Her Fault” would be printed on bumper stickers and sold on the DNC’s website, because Obama and his acolytes would no doubt claim that they would have won in 2012 “if not for that b**** Hillary”.
Remember, after an Obama loss in 2012, the Democrat Party is scheduled to be purged of all the Obama acolytes that seized power in 2008. If you recall, the Obama followers did the same thing to the Clinton holdovers that remained in the DNC since the Clinton days of the 1990s. The incoming Obama people aggressively purged all moderate and conservative Democrats from the party so that the Leftists exiled into the wilderness since the Carter era could finally be in control again.
An Obama loss in 2012 means the moderates and conservative Democrat operatives will have a chance to retake the party and purge the Obama Leftists; this purge would not happen if Hillary Clinton set herself up as a VP pick on the 2012 ticket, because the Leftists would cling to power and refuse to leave by claiming “Obama would have won if it wasn’t for Hillary, so this is ALL HER FAULT”.
There is no way Hillary Clinton lets that happen; there is no way she allows herself to be a scapegoat for an Obama loss.
The only possible way that she’d replace Biden on the ticket would be if she was guaranteed that Obama would win…and thus saw a way for her to inherit the party in 2016 when he became term-limited. THAT is certainly something she would do, because it would give her four years as VP to rebuild her network and strategically install her own loyalists in positions of power for 2016…the year she’d remake the party in her own image.
I believe the reason so many articles keep popping up about Hillary replacing Biden is because the vast majority of the people writing these fantasies are Leftist “journalists” who don’t believe Barack Obama can lose in 2012…so they are missing the point that Hillary would not want to be blamed for his loss. If they don’t think their “light-bringing” messiah-with-a-small-m can ever fail, it would never occur to them that there’d be any reason at all for Hillary to avoid that ticket like the plague.
This is only one scenario I can see where Obama actually wins re-election, and it requires the alignment of four distinct events:
1. Willard “Mittens” Romneycare must be the Republican nominee — since moderate Republicans like Dole, McCain, or Romney always lose because the public won’t vote for Democrat-Lite no matter how many times the Cocktail Party GOP establishment tries to force these milquetoast men on the public
2. Occupy Wall Street, ACORN, the SEIU, the Black Panthers, and other Leftist goon squads and thugs really come into their own with a solid show of force that commits aggressive voter fraud and voter intimidation in the 2012 election.
3. Jon Huntsman successfully mounts the third party campaign he’s been planning AND — most importantly — disgruntled Ron Paul supporters team up under his banner to push his third party run to some level of success in key swing states (please note, the goal will NEVER be for Huntsman to run a 50 state campaign…but instead he’s going to be positioned to run well enough in states like Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and others to steal enough votes from Romneycare to win states for Obama that Democrats would lose without a third party spoiler being present).
4. George Soros cooks up another “October Surprise” (like the September 2008 financial market collapse) that scares voters into giving Obama four more years.
I think if Hillary Clinton was presented with a fool-proof, air-tight plan with elaborate and redundant guarantees that the above four events will indeed happen…and that there is no way that Obama can lose…that she would indeed agree to be his VP in 2012.
BUT, if you assume all of this, you need to ask yourself WHY Obama and his acolytes would WANT Hillary to be on such a ticket. The reason Hillary Clinton was not the 2008 Democrat nominee is because she would not be the Left’s puppet and would never agree to do all of the crazy things the Left wanted done to this country. I know there are many of you who have made a sincere and committed habit of hating Hillary Clinton since the early 1990s and that a day without fixating on her is like Christmas without a tree for you, but everything evil and nefarious you ever imagined about Hillary Clinton is actually in fact TRUE about Barack Obama. That’s why he — not her — was the Left’s pick in 2008 for president, since a Hillary administration would have been nothing like what we’ve endured under Obama.
There’s no way the Left willingly sets itself up to be purged in four years when Hillary would inherit the party — so this fantasy about Hillary replacing Biden is just foolish.
Hillary Clinton won’t do it unless she’d have a solid guarantee there’s no way the ticket would lose — because her self of preservation demands she never set herself up to be a scapegoat for an Obama loss.
If there was a guarantee that Obama can’t lose, the Left would not allow Hillary Clinton to be the VP nominee because the Left would not want to allow her a chance to purge Leftists from the party come 2016.
It might be fun for some of you to run off into fantasyland after reading a “Hillary’s replacing Biden!” fetish piece, but if you understand internal Democrat power politics, you’d see this is just not going to happen…for the reasons I’ve outlined above.

You make a lot of sense. Mrs. Clinton wouldn't run unless she is guaranteed success. And that would mean Obama would need to be guaranteed success. If Obama were guaranteed success, he wouldn't need Mrs. Clinton to run with him, so he wouldn't ask. Biden is far easier to deal with than Mrs. Clinton and her two-term husband, Mr. Clinton.

I actually feel sorry for pundits who play with a Hillary VP ticket like a child plays with a doll. Look, once and for all, if Obama had wanted Hillary as veep he would have picked her the first time. He doesn't change his mind about anything unless forced, and there just isn't enough political power to force a Hillary VP on him. I'm serious about the doll house comparison. In Gestalt psychology disturbed clients are given dolls to represent their issues. People who fantasize about an Obama-Clinton administration are certifiable. Think about it. What about the Biden "doll"? What about his feelings, getting thrown under the bus for another? Next, play with Michelle-doll. Do you suppose a Hillary #2 will make family life easier for Obi-hubby? My guess is Michelle-doll would say, "Don't even think about it, buster!" I could go on, but you get my point. Go ahead, have some fun with it yourself. It's okay. More dolls…
Kevin, I agree that Hillary is smart enough to avoid the pitfall of being set up for the blame game. I believe that she saw what happened to Sarah Palin when McCain lost the election & his campaign people started blaming Sarah (of course it "helped" that many of his staff were hired from Mittens failed campaign).
Hillary needs to quit the Obama job-corpse (couldn't resist) take a vacation & then get go to work @ someplace like FOX. Just watching her, Sarah & Greta during the Nov election night would be pure TV gold.
I don't see any senario where Mrs. Clinton runs as VP with Obama. Kevin is right that if Obama/Clinton loses she will be blamed. But if they win she is then stuck with defending what is already the worst presidency in history. Vice Presidents normally run on the sucess of the president they served. Surely no one believes that after four more years of Obama, Mrs. Clinton would be prepared to do that. I see her sitting out a year before starting an anti Washington campaign regardless of who wins.

Biden has Obama by the nuts anyhow … just as he became VP … Biden was in charge of the investigation into the cauterizing of Obama's passport files. The Obama operative destroyed all records relating to Obama's travel to Pakistan (as well as his mother's). Both files would have lent credibility to questions about citizenship. THAT is how Biden became VP … and THAT is why Biden will not be replaced unwillingly.
Biden also makes Obama look good, but Hillary would tend to overshadow Obama without lifting too much of a finger to do so. Obama doesn't dare allow that to happen.
