Why Do YOU Think The Tolerant Left Behaves The Way It Does?
I’ve been collecting screengrabs of those on the Tolerant Left taking to Facebook and posting truly hateful screeds attacking anyone who opposes the Democrats’ agenda.
I want to understand what makes these people tick and where the raging hatred they so casually aim at others comes from, because it just makes no sense to me. Politics is my life…and my life’s mission is to bring down the Democrat Party and the Cocktail Party GOP establishment alike, but I’ve never felt any inclination to hate those I oppose politically. When I was in school, I was taught that “hate” is the absolute worst thing in the world — so it still shocks me to see so many on The Tolerante Left treat hatred as a commonplace source of inspiration in their lives.
So far, I’ve identified five key things I see the Tolerant Leftists do on a running basis that are steeped in hatred:
1. Peppering everything they say with needless expletives — why do they need to do that?
2. Wishing death and dismemberment upon those who they disagree with, including often elaborate fantasies where those on the Tolerant Left describe in epic detail exactly how they wish someone would die and the sort of abuse they would do to that person’s corpse after he or she was dead — where do these sick fantasies come from?
3. Repeating apocryphal stories without any attribution or supporting facts — why don’t they make sound arguments based on facts and reason instead of unbalanced emotion?
4. Flipping wildly from supporting someone or something to vowing to destroy that person or thing the next day because they disagreed on an often times minor thing — like with the jihad the Tolerant Left declared on the Susan G. Komen Foundation when it decided it would no longer be extorted to pay for abortions…why does the Tolerant Left seek to destroy anyone or anything it disagrees with instead of realizing that, big picture, some wars don’t need to be declared?
5. Attacking Christians and Christianity and actively seeking ways to destroy the Church and punish Christians for standing by their faith — why does the Tolerant Left do this, while simultaneously doing all it can to aid the spread of Islam in the world?
I would deeply appreciate anyone with psychology training or experience dealing with caustic and unbalanced people to chime in below, or in email if you want to keep it private, and let me know what you think of the questions above.
We have a few months until the general election heats up — when I’m sure the Tolerant Left will rev things up to fever pitch. I think it’s a good use of our time to start taking a hard look at common things the Tolerant Leftists say and do so that we can plan effective strategies for handling these people come summer and fall.
What’s your take on all this? All ideas welcome, even if you aren’t an expert, but especially if you’re someone who’s always wondered about the Tolerant Left’s behavior yourself and have other insight into the terrible and hateful things they do when talking politics.

Why? Poor character.
You want my theory, Kevin?
For many years now I’ve believed that people on the left are simply miserable, unhappy (and nearly unhinged) people. The world doesn’t work the way they think it should and THEY CAN’T STAND IT.
I know whereof I speak: I WAS on the left for many years until I had my “road to Damascus” moment and realized that I was literally wrong about EVERYTHING. Since then, I’ve spent my time and money trying to undo the damage I helped do to this great nation.
Did you see Rabbi Lapin's discussion of the dark spiritual force called the Ba'al? It's essentially our base animal nature, and it has surfaced cyclically since before the Bible was written. I think it explains a lot of what we are seeing now. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/beck-rabbi-lapin-…
Thanks, I was just about to post this. I think it explains a lot.
Because they are so good and so right and so tolerant of all viewpoints (that are compatible with their own) that they are justified in lashing out against all of the mean, horrible bigots who disagree with them.
After giving this all of 5 seconds of thought it strikes me as a twofold cause.
First – classic demonetization of the other.
Second – Their identification is the PC view.
pesky spell check: wrong word – demonization
Disclaimer: No psychology training per say (according to my friends with psychology training, the field is currently undergoing "PC"ing and "leftivisation", so keep that in mind if you get someone with the degree chiming in)
To understand this you have to go a bit back (so bear with me for a min). Perhaps Nietzsche would be a good start. What good old Nietzsche did, was provide the philosophical framework (crappy, with multiple holes) but a framework that one who would plug his ears and close eyes, could use. The framework "allowed" one to live without God and feel "intellectually" smug about it. With the framework came a warning though (see a parable of a man who lit torches during the daylight). We are currently living out this warning.
(cont)
It's not so much that the field itself, or training, is becoming "leftivised," but rather that leftists tend to be drawn to that kind of field. The training and education is stilled based very much on the science behind it. However, there are a lot of novice counselors who don't fully understand the education they're receiving, so they misinterpret/misunderstand what they're being taught. I see this everyday.
A good analogy is if you've ever seen any of those nanny shows, the parents always claim they've used some technique (like timeouts) and that is doesn't work. Once the nanny gets in there and demonstrates the flaw in their application…no problem.
In counseling, one concept that is taught as necessary for positive change is "unconditional positive regard." This means if you can't withhold judgment on someone because of their behavior and see them as essentially good, you won't be able to make any progress in therapy. There's nothing wrong with this statement, but with all the armchair psychologists out there nowadays, this concept is being applied incorrectly in society as a whole. You see this evident all over the place…We're not supposed to judge people anymore. But this concept was only ever meant to be applied within a therapy setting, not in "real life."
The good news is that I've consistently seen therapists and counselors come to understand these things much better over time. So, there may seem to be some "leftivisation," but there's still a siginificant force keeping things in balance. It's really more a result of inexperience than anything else. Of course, you'll always have some people who will never be good counselors (just like some people will never be good teachers), but all-in-all, I believe Psychology is actually getting better, not worse.
(cont PII)__The results crystalized in 3 main points:____I. Since there is no God, Man is all there is and therefore for all practical purposes is now "god". That is ME. Ultimate blaspheme therefore, is any offence (real or perceived) against ME.____II. Since evolution by default is the only option – man changes with time. Every successful generation is more developed than the prior. More evolved, more everything better. Also, some people are more evolved than others, including more "evolved" to lead (this explains "Messiah" cultism amongst the leftist).____III. Man (based on the point 1 and partially 2) is the ultimate Judge of good and evil.__–a. New generations are more "developed" and therefore more fit to be judges. __–b. Since absolutes are out of the window, the only compass that is left is emotions and feelings (verbalized and admitted multiple times by atheism apologists) this explains emphasis on the visual and audio propaganda)__–c. Since everyone's "good and evil" are different, there emerges a need for moral relativity. Truth is impossible. But in practice my "truth" is "truer" than yours.
(cont P3)
Now let's examine your questions in view of these points.
1. Peppering everything they say with needless expletives — why do they need to do that?
– Emotions, the only decision making instrument, are involved. Any criticism is taken personally, since it's attacking the very notion of one's divinity and its inerrancy. As it is the ultimate offense – hence the wrath of "god".
2. Wishing death and dismemberment upon those who they disagree with, …?
– See above.
3. Repeating apocryphal stories without any attribution or supporting facts — why don’t they make sound arguments based on facts and reason instead of unbalanced emotion?
– Remember there is no longer objective truth in their minds. Hence any story is as good as the other one, especially if it serves their ends.
Dr. Weeg, a noted statistician who is (if I remember right) affliated with the University of Iowa, decided to check the famous hockey stick graph supporting global warming. He discovered the data did not support the graph or the conclusions. He told the fellow responsible for the graph. The response? "Our hearts are in the right place." (True story from a series of articles on the Canada Free Press on global warming.)
Feelings are all important to the Leftists. They are unable to think rationally.
What is their moral compass? The answer might explain a lot.
(cont P4)
4. Flipping wildly from supporting someone or something to vowing to destroy that person or thing the next day because they disagreed on an often times minor thing..
– Emotions change daily (and since there are no absolutes to anchor them), so do the judgments produced by them.
5. Attacking Christians and Christianity and actively seeking ways to destroy the Church.
– It reminds them of what one should be, of absolutes, of consequences, of good and evil, of failure. Once again the mere existence of Christianity assaults their "divinity" – ultimate crime/blaspheme. As for Islam, it is a very flexible religion, that allows a lot of things leftists desire in the name of "god". But about that perhaps next time.
Kevin, you surely know that the people who post these sort of things do not think for themselves. They are "managed" by people like Axelrat, etc who post the sort of things they wish to have endlessly repeated. You know the old communist tactic – repeat a lie enough times and it becomes the truth. And, I also beleive, that since they cannot think for themselves, the self-hatred comes out and vitriol language and actions are constantly manifested and repeated again and again.
Sorry state of affairs that the education system in this country has produced an endless supply of these people.
Leftists behave the way they do because they hate themselves. Somewhere along the line they didn't get the appreciation they thought they deserved and/or resented seeing someone else receive appreciation whom, in their eyes, was not as "special" as they were. They don't find the success they believe they "deserve", therefore, they gradually substitute different measures of "success" from those utilized by healthy people. This results in their being able to think to themselves, "I didn't really want that anyway", or "only a half-wit would prize that type of thing", while deluding themselves that they are of superior morality. They want to control everything because it is a way for them to lash out and punish others who represent all the people they percieve to have slighted them in the past. They particularly harbor a deep hatred for Christianity because they don't like the concept of having to ultimately answer for their behavior. As long as their is no sentient God, then their ideals are the ultimate measure of morality.
This is a good analysis and probably applies to a large portion of these people. The main thing I would replace is the word hate. I wouldn't say that these people hate themselves so much as they've reached certain conclusions about life, such as other people hate them or they'll never be treated fairly. Unfortunately, one concept I find to be true again and again is that people would rather be right than be happy. We all do it. We get so caught up in the "truths" that we've identified about life that we will do anything to maintain our belief structure. Nothing sucks more than having to admit (to yourself) that you're wrong.
I think we as moral compassionate humans, will never know how to answer that truthfully. My theory is that like Stalin, Hitler, Obama,etc.etc. enter your favorite leftist here_____!, a dramatic event happened early on in their life that could not be accepted or dealt with for one reason or another. Now they must try to change the world into what their own warped sense of reality requires. It is sad really, to not accept life as it is, that you need to become evil and narcissistic,(except in your own eyes of course). That kind of drive would benefit mankind if only used the right way.
John D makes some excellent points!! The part about the leftist invasion into psychology is very accurate. A perfect example (this sounds so unbelievable but it's true) is that there is a group that has been working for about a decade to lobby the APA and make pedophilia a psychological illness. They are trying to "normalize" the behavior and the only place that I can think of where that is "acceptable" is in Islamic countries. It is something that our troops realized first-hand in Afghanistan when the people that they were supposedly working with and getting information from would show them pictures of their "pretty little boys" on their cell phones!! Sometimes I wonder if the field of psychology is looking for a logical explanation to behaviors that are just simply evil and can't be understood by rationally thinking people
You've got that backwards…Pedophiliia is a psychological disorder and is listed in the DSM as such. The group you're referring to is pushing to have it removed from the DSM. However, that group is in no way even close to a majority. Not to minimize it or say it's not important, but this is not a mainstream idea within psychological circles. It's not taught as normal behavior in any psychology program I've ever heard of, because that would go against the DSM and they wouldn't be able to get licensure. These people don't represent a shift within psychology, but merely a fringe group. Most practitioners I know won't touch pedophiles with a ten foot pole. No pun intended.
One more thing I forgot to mention….in those confusing interviews that Ulsterman has conducted, the one very important point that I picked up was that Obama is an atheist who does not believe that he will have to answer for his sins after he dies and is now in a position where he doesn't have to pay for them while on Earth, as well. So many believe that he is a muslim but the insider being interviewed mentioned that his "religion" is Anti-Americanism and he takes the sides of any group or individual that he perceives as being treated unfairly by this country. A new aspect to his mindset is brought to light with his hatred of the Catholic Church and the only sense I can make of that is linking it back to the Crusades which initially began when the Muslims were blocking access to Jerusalem for any non-Muslim about 1000 yrs ago. I'm not sure on that one, it's just my guess but all of this brings up some interesting points!!
Becca —
I always love when you read that Ulsterman stuff and then report back with the pertinent details. I just can’t get more than four or five sentences into anything Ulsterman writes. I usually stop reading after the second time he writes “f***”. I just start thinking, “There are so many other things I can be reading right now without having to read “f***” typed out in poorly written fake dialogue”.
Reading his stuff is like being forced to grade papers and read creative writing assignments done by really terrible students who think they are the next Quentin Tarantino.
My sister is the only "leftist" in our immediate family. I thought about it for a few minutes, and realized that she always surrounds herself with people that she doesn't feel in competition with and can comfortably feel superior to. At this point in her life, she has eliminated all female friends and currently hangs with other "leftist" males who are in favor of whatever obama and company does. She believes he is a very caring president who just wants to do right by the american people. She still defends obama and any mention of the path he is taking with our country, she immediately brings up Bush or some other person she believes is worse and totally ignores any facts that might dispute her "dear leader." Nothing short of a lobotomy is going to fix her or the others like her. I don't think you can reason with anyone who thinks irrationally and distorts the facts so they coincide with their own warped perception of reality. Personally, I believe low self esteem, assigning blame to others for their own failures, and jealousy of others is the driving force behind these people.
*sigh* I have a brother like that…
I have a female family member like that. Very high maintenance. Sucks up a lot of the rest of the family's time and energy and is STILL not happy. Very judgmental, competitive and generally miserable. However, she shows flashes of greatness and happiness (like she used to be more often). No one can relate to her or get through to her and everything is colored with her "progressiveness" and wonderfulness. It's really sad to see. I've lost a friend and family member. Of course, she loves TheWon.
Based on the comments sprinkled on this thread, I'd say the obvious answer is that it's human nature.
The left as a group is no more stupid, miserable, of poor character or amoral than anyone else. We all have a need to "know" that our belief systems are correct, so we tend to shut out what conflicts with them as evil or wrong. Some of us (ie: Kevin, Bastiat Fan above, myself) have the ability to eventually see the error in our beliefs and admit we were wrong; others on both sides of the political aisle do not (even some that vehemently claim to follow the teaching of Christ).
Trust me, the people that post on Democratic Underground and HuffPo are no less certain of their correctness than people who post here. They are no less determined to "win" than people here. Usually what opens people eyes is a traumatic experience that will not allow them to keep "taking the blue pill" (such as the fiasco in the 2008 election did for may Buzzers). If they have that moment and "come to the other side" only to be lambasted and called names, you will not win them over. That is exactly why so many disenfranchised former democrats remain non-affiliated to this day; the republican party was much less than welcoming and ever-insistent that you cannot be a fiscal conservative and a social moderate.
If you want to understand the left, you need to realize that they, like even the most radical right winger, are human beings that want to have something to believe in. For me, that something was this great Republic. I suspect in their own way that is the same for many on the left (I am not speaking of political operatives here). Perhaps the way to breech the wall is to understand that we're really all on the same "side" but we disagree on what needs to be done to keep America strong.
Use the analogy of the Super Bowl. Two teams, the best of their leagues, are fighting for the same thing. It doesn't really mean that whoever wins in that much superior to the other – after all, both teams made it to the game. it just means someone had a better strategy at the moment for that articular situation. If people can learn to take a step back and study their opponent's strategy (like football teams do all year) then they have a better chance of winning than the team that just insists "my way is better" (are you listening Cocktail party?). And never dismiss the players on the other team – you never know when they'll be traded to your team!
Excellent post, Grail Guardian! You've given me some things to think about…
I loved the orig focus of the Tea Party, which was Fiscal Conservatism. That brings people from both sides together. But when people start quoting scripture, you then push others away.
These things are tied together because it comes from their literature, their ideologies, and the complete lack of connection to God. All of these ideologies, socialism, communism, fascism (the political leaning of Islam) all stem from the writings of Marx, Engel, and the like. They are taught from birth to hate, to repeat lies as truth, and to behave this way. If you read the literature, it is all there. Lenin once said that if he was given at child for eight years to train, that child would never depart from what he had taught him. Thus the seizure of the ideologies in our education system… Much of what educators are taught comes from the current teachings of Bill Ayers and the research he does in Chicago at the university. It is taught around the country to college students studying to be teachers. It is indoctrination. The Communist Party is a world-wide party in desperate mode to seize the hearts and minds of the entire planet. It is godless, and therefore, their behavior is godless whence you see the profanity, the hate, the constant drumming of lies, etc. Read The Gulag Archipelago, any writings by Havel, and other writings by those who have left the party. You don't ever leave the Party; it leaves you, or you die. Witness by Whitaker Chambers is also good.
Ive been thinking lately about the old Fbi informant who said bill Ayers wanted to put millions in reeducation camps back in the weather underground days. Now he is a professor of education and teachers are teaching his crap all over the country. Perhaps he did in fact find a way to do just that by targeting the kids instead of the parents. Now he tells young leftists to kill their parents. After a lifetime of moral relativism and catering to infantilism its no surprise so many react the way Kevin describes. Personally I am ofter reminded of the spirit who told Jesus "we are legion for we are many."
Anyone reading Ameritopia, Mark Levin's new book? I'm about to start it in the next day or so, I expect there will be some good insight there, Levin does his homework.
Kevin, I think the writings of Robin of Berkeley might be of interest to you. She was a life long leftist under one day she had a moment of clarity.

I’m enjoying the discussion, but I think the explanations only cover the fringe eco-Leftists. What about the ones that are Christians or are Jews?
Can not speak for Jews, but as for Christian leftists, they generally fall three categories. Sometimes they mix in various degrees:
-In the first one, the problem usually arises from a combination of good intentions, subjection to a heavy leftist propaganda and little or fuzzy knowledge of the Scriptures. The responsibility and the fault for those falls heavily on the Church. As the rule, there haven't been a proper discipleship (which ironically is part of the Great Commandment). Discipleship and Bible teaching generally corrects the issue.
(cont)
-Second one is the prodigal sons. Interestingly a lot of MK's and pastors' kids fall into the category. They are the ones who know better, but compromise or choose to disobey or have been wronged (in reality or only their perception) by another Christian. The excuse is generally, well the others [Christians] are doing it, or are hypocrites, or whatever else. They forget that the Church is the hospital for the sick and nursery for the young Christians. As C.S. Lewis wrote we are amphibious creatures, with our bodies we belong to the physical world, with souls to the spiritual, but what we do in one, affects the other. When prodigals wander/compromise, it affects their thinking and makes them bitter. Bitter at themselves and blaming God and/or other Christians. They are the ones who Paul warns about falling away.
(cont)
-The third one is the cultural "Christians". They are "Christian" because it sounds good, is acceptable in their environment, their families were/are "Christian". They know neither God, nor human nature nor the Scripture. As the result they believe that through environment/human actions/education… alone the betterment will come. In reality they refuse to let God to determine what is right and wrong.
The "Tolerant Left's" tactics are a toxic amalgam of narcissism and projection. The whole world revolves around them, and since they are in a dark place, the "other" must think like that, too.
Thomas Sowell wrote an excellent book called "Conflict of Visions". There is the "Tragic Vision" which sees human nature as inherently selfish and the "Utopian Vision" which believes that human nature can be perfected.
The Founding Fathers, and most conservatives, accept the Tragic Vision because it is what the Bible teaches – "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." and human history has proven it to be true, repeatedly. Most leftists follow the "Utopian Vision" because they don't like the Bible since they want to be God instead and they are sure their ideas will work IF they can just get everyone to do it their way! Conservatives tend to look at facts and evidence and see the world as it really is and design forms of government, law and education that fit reality. Leftists are more likely to be governed by their feelings and get very upset when reality intrudes on their little world so they resort to name calling and profanity and the blame game – because nothing is ever their fault – their mommy told them so!
It's simply a cry for attention. They just aren't very attractive people, inside or out. They deeply resent the fact that they were short changed on the assembly line, and they're taking their rage to the big stage of politics. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xIOLgnnwbw. Henry Waxman, Helen (gag reflex) Thomas, Barney Frank, Janet Reno, well you get the idea. I could go on, but that would be overkill. Feel free to add your favorites to the list. HillBuzz should invite their contributors to submit their top five ugliest democrats of both genders and compile a "top five" list annually. My favorite, Debbie (Gollum) Wasserman-Snitz. Sorry Gollum.
May I suggest you read an excellent book called ‘United in Hate’ by Prof. Jamie Glazov. He takes us very nicely through the psychology of leftists, which is what you’re looking for. We start with the Russian revolution, and he brings us right up to date with the new darlings of the left, Islamic murdering maniacs. One thing he posits which is fascinating is the self-loathing leftists have, which leads to a unique suicidal impulse. The impulse to be consumed by the totality they venerate, to sacrifice themselves on the altar of their perfect, leftist ideals. Check it out.
Thank you, I'm a bit under the weather right now, but, strong enough to make it to the book store, sounds like a good read.
I post at Mediate once in awhile. Started posting there because of the wit of the posters, well, that has been destroyed, the site is now infested with vile leftists and very few of the sharp, witty posters are left. I think that was what Mediate was looking for, traffic, not quality. What they have now is an immature, hive mentaliity crowd, one lies another swears to it, so juvenile.
One of the topics that has brought about offensive remarks it the O'Reilly/Goldberg Ellen segment, so of course all conservatives are gaybashers. Having lived a lifetime with a gay brother, personal experience has taught me that that ugliness is not limited to conservatives. Sorry to ramble, this discussion is needed and thanks for the book recommendation.

Before you go to the book store, check out Amazon.com. You might be able to get it cheaper (and maybe an electronic version) there.
Often times even if you are not a Prime Member (which always has free shipping), you can find books for a few pennies that still cost lest after shipping than you’d find at a bookstore.
And Amazon sends stuff in one or two days, so it’s worth it. I just love dealing with them and love how much I save shopping there.
IMO (non-expert), leftism is a form of infantilism or arrested development. Leftists tend to react with the emotional, tantrum-type behavior you describe, because to such incompletely indivuated individuals who never properly developed into maturity: 1) there is no such thing as personal accountability for one's actions; it's always some one or some thing else's fault when a leftist fails; 2) the government (other people, institutions, etc.) owe the leftist everything just because the leftist is here, happened to be born; if only the government (other people, institutions, etc.) were perfect (like the perfect mommy), then the leftist could live happily, having each and every need met immediately, and because the leftist is happy, everyone would be happy and all would be bliss. But, since the government (other people, institutions, etc.) are not perfect, the leftist must continually throw tantrums and 'train' 'mommy' to do better in order to placate the leftist.
In the 1600's Europe was in a religious war where the people in one town Believed the people two towns over were…Heretical. We're in a Religious War today sense-wise if you think of it in those terms. The Religions [plural] of the left view conservatives as "Evil Heathens", which justifies any statements and actions. The wars of the seventeenth century were in family memories of the founders and were the reasons for their being in the American Colonies. Ask someone today how they felt about either the 1912 Election or The Civil War and they're likely to go on a Bush or Reagan rant.
Personally, I'm thinking that a lot of lefty's got in touch with their inner 2-year old & forgot to go back to being adults.
Case in point: a couple of years ago, I went to a training about emergency disasters (I work for the local government, which qualifies me as a disaster worker). I tried to tell one of my co-workers what our duties as disaster workers were & how other states & the federal government couldn't go in to a state that had a disaster (like Katrina) unless the governor of that state requested it. Her reply was "that's a dirty lie" and then she stormed back to her cubicle. I thought she did a good imitation of my granddaughter, who was not quite 3 at the time & was practicing her inner Scarlett O'Hara.
Uhh… because they are vengeful, spiteful children at heart?
Kevin I agree with what you posted. I would just like to make one statement regarding #5- the attacks on Christians and Christianity. While that is often the case I'm finding that lacking in many of the people in Wisconsin who are so rabidly "restore Wisconsin-recall Walker". While that element is present in those who were shipped-in, and also showed up in the "mob mentality" of the masses gathered in Madison, it isn't the case with the "rank and file" union Dems in my area. Most of those are church-going avid Catholics who support the D's because "I have always done so", or "nobody else is for the middle class working guy" (meaning unions); but it doesn't make them attack Christians- at least not yet. I have yet to hear them comment on the recent Obama war on Catholics; they are pretty quiet about that. But when it comes to Gov Walker these people are everything you mention in #1-4; just not #5.
There is evil loose in the world and it works powerfully through the leftist ideology. There is no pesky god to slow it down and it can work out its sick agenda without check. YOU SHALL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS … I believe the hateful outbursts of the left are a sign of what is afoot.
Anybody on this thread dealt with Borderline Personality Disorder? I've dealt with someone that
suffers with it for over 20 years, and the behaviors I've seen sound exactly like what I've observed.
1. Idealization vs demonization. A borderline often initially views someone as one step away
from being a deity. When anything changes their perception about this, they respond with a white
hot fury against the same individual. It's referred to as "splitting". There's NO gray area in dealing
with others.
2. Laying of blame. A borderline can never accept responsibility for their actions. This includes
even the most trivial of things. Anything that happens is always "Their fault."
3. Arrested maturity. When you're a child other kids on the playground will throw tantrums and
say "That's not fair." A borderline will still be saying "That's not fair" past 30 or 40.
4. Lack of success . The feeling that they have been prevented from getting to the point where they should be in life. The complete lack of being able to understand that their behavior is the reason
that they haven't progressed any further. Once employers, coworkers, et al see their true behavior,
they're reluctant to put them in any position of power. Often, they start looking for excuses to fire them
over.
5. Parroting what they see or read. The borderline in my life doesn't like Obama. It doesn't matter, because they say verbatim what they hear on The View, or get off the Yahoo facebook page:
"Evil Gingrich, Stupid Gingrich, Stupid Palin, What does that Bachman think she's saying?"
6. A borderline will arrive at a solution to everything that's wrong out of the blue. The solution?
Life would be so much better if just this one person…. coworker….. sibling……parent….. relative…..
politician……neighbor……stranger that was rude that day…….slow postal worker……. didn't exist.
Don't these behavior sound familiar?
With that last one, #6, the Leftists enjoy fantasizing about murdering the people they don’t like (to make them not exist) or hoping they are killed by some horrible disease (so they don’t exist).
I see the Tolerant Left write this over and over and over again.
It's an interesting observation you've made. FYI…one theory behind Borderline Personality Disorder suggests that it is an extreme form of PTSD. Something to think about.
Agreed – the tolerant left displays these traits frequently. But so does the Christian right. Go read the comments at hot air or even conservatives for Palin and you'll see what I mean.
To the point, your approach to Ron Paul supporters also needs to be the approach to those on the left that are not paid political operatives. Find out what makes them support the left, then show them why the left leadership really doesn't stand for what they think it does. I've seen you do it time and again with women, blacks, gays – why would it be different for the people that think the left supports the environment, the humane treatment of animals, the elderly, peace, or any other cause dear to their hearts? What we need to do is show them what you discovered in 2008 – that the left is out for the left and nothing more; the use and corral people and strive to keep them separated by special interests.
What we need to do is to find a way to show them that others care about what they do and are just as fed up with the left and the far right. That's what the Tea Party started out to be before it was co-opted by the social conservatives. It was so fearsome for TPTB because it was the melding of people they had carefully placed in their separate boxes of social stigma (women, gays, blacks, Hispanics, seniors, etc.) into a force no one could stop. No one except the social conservatives, that is. You are always so very close to the solution Kevin, but stop just shy of going there. You have the platform and the power to lead a large group of people to unity. Please don't ever give up!
It's their need not to be judged by those they feel are better than them
They fight like children because many are children or immature.
How is it that “endless playing of the race card” didn’t make your list? Seriously, race hustling is the mother’s milk of the Left. They’d wither and die without it. If Obama is re-elected (shudder), get ready for another four years of being smeared as a “racist” for daring to oppose him and his ruinous policies.
FEAR. Sadly the actions of most people are based upon fear, very rarely does reason have an impact. Example: When people say you are stupid they are afraid people will think that they are stupid. This fear of discovery is a huge driver in peoples actions and in what they say.
1/2 – there is no such thing as right and wrong
