With finanace being the largest one, I wonder if Tax payer money has been used.
And wasn’t everyone all out of sorts four and eight years ago about the money spent for those inaugurations? (Which was much, much less than this year’s, although the exact figure escapes me right now). Everybody was pontificating on where else the money could have been better spent. So where are those people now? Where is the outrage? Oh, I see. Magic Unicorns. Silly me.

Seems the media doesn’t mind that the Obamanaguration is going to be pricey. But they were telling us that the 40 mill spent on Bush in 04′ should have been used for the military. Double Standard strikes again.

Isn’t it about time for citizens to stand up and demand that their legislators change the rules and prohibit outside money of any sort?! When the threat of being voted out of office takes on a hard shape, perhaps they’ll step up to the plate and take responsibility for the mess they’ve made by not listening to their constituents.
It’s hardly an unevel playing field when only the folks with either independent wealth or huge vested-interest backing can afford to run for office. That seems against what democracy is supposed to be about and certainly runs counter to seeing any changes in the system.
Guess that puts the lie to the possibility of the ‘anyone can be president’ myth!
isn’t it funny how the AP was condemning Bush’s inauguration because it was around 40 million and they were mentioning all the things he could buy with that money (armored humvees, money for the deficit, etc) but now that Obama’s inauguration is going to be 3 times that, they say, BUT THIS IS HISTORICAL! GO FOR GLITZ, GO FOR GLAM!!
I would love to have that money. I could pay off my house, van, truck, my other bills. Then I’d be shopping like crazy. That’s better than give it to the crooks.

I didn’t see the Teachers Union or other Unions as contributors, or ACORN…surely that isn’t correct. I find it hard to believe they aren’t part of the equation. Re: George W’s 2005 bash, it was half the cost of this, and the news media and liberal pundits all screamed bloody murder. So far, with a suggested cost of 110 Million for Obama’s inauguration, no one has said a word.
The MSM couldn’t get off yakking about how much Sarah Palin spent on clothes during her campaign. Even after she lost the election they still brought it up. It was all paid for by the RNC, not her personally, while she normally shopped at K-Mart and such stores. So the RNC wanted her to look nice during her campaign, big deal! But you do not hear one word from Andrea Mitchell or Campbell Brown (come to think of it, I am not listening to them, so maybe something has been said but I doubt it) to discuss the EXCESSIVE SPENDING by the OBAMAS for their inauguaration. Again what hypocrites the liberals (my former party) have become. P.S. Don’t forget the Obamas lived in a mansion in Hyde Park which he got on a sweet deal from Tony Rezko while Mr. Rezko provided sub-standard housing to people living in Obama’s congressional district. Of course, the MSM failed to adequately investigate any of it and Mr. Obama pretends it was nothing but a “bone-headed mistake”. I know this is killing you “people”, but the American people voted for President Elect Barack Hussein Obama, and the American people want to celebrate. The reason the costs are higher is because of the number of people who are overjoyed to have such a wise, intelligent, honest American in office, and want to be THERE for this historic moment in American history. Finally. Also, Obama has personally donated 30 milliion dollars to help defray costs, and businesses supporting transportation, housing, etc. stand to make tons of money, which isn’t a bad thing in this economy.

The total estimated cost for this event is 150 million with some believing it will be at least 175. 42000 national guard and soldiers will be used. The borders? What stinking borders?

Thirdly you conveniently sidestepped the fact that liberals like yourself vehemently lamented the cost of Bush’s last inauguation yet make pathetically weak excuses (like the ones you supplied in your comment) for Obama’s which more than triple (via estimate) what was spent for Bush’s. There is a good possibility the final costs will more that be quadruple that of Bush’s.

“the American people want to celebrate”? No. The liberal elites want to celebrate. The vast majority of Americans wish to be left alone which Obama won’t do. The vast majority of Americans wish not to be overtaxed but Obama’s going to increase taxes (calling them “fees” or something else doesn’t change the fact that the money will be coming out of middle America’s pockets). The vast majority of Americans wish goverment would decrease yet Obama is planning massive government growth.
sharon, buyer’s remorse is a hard thing to experience yet I feel the majority of those who voted for Obama will be experiencing a variant of it called “voter’s remorse” in the upcoming years. I am hoping that in two years the American voter will wake up to the liberalistic failures and start electing strong, willing-to-fight, conservatives to Congress assuming some strong, willing-to-fight, conservatives will actually step forward to run. Personally, I feel it’s past time for sweeping out all the rascals in Congress and start over. The only caution we have is that calling someone like Sharon a troll encourages her. That’s why people like Sharon do the things they do — for the attention. They like saying something, and prompting someone to call them a troll because of it. It’s a badge of honor and makes them feel like they’ve accomplished their mission.
So, instead, we prefer to see Sharon as someone with an awful lot of opinions and free time — and that makes us wonder why she does not have a site of her own to showcase all of her wonders. If she really believed passionately in the things she says, don’t you think she should make that commitment?

This is such an utter outrage! The liberal hypocrites never cease to amaze me with their double standard. This is an Obamanation! The Tax payers (myself included) are getting railroaded at an alarming rate.
Democrats/Republicans all yelling, screaming, nothing gets accomplished. No matter who is in office it will always be handouts/bailouts for those who have and more taxes for those who do not have, to pay. I am not an overeducated person as some on this site appear to be, simply two years of college and a mother of seven productive, educated children who are working “good” jobs to make ends meet. To watch hugh amounts of money be spent on this or any other inauguration is a sin when so many of our people, black and white are suffering. We sneeze at the “small” amount Bush spent, please how many people could that help out, how many more young people could afford to go to college and better themselves and our society. I have lived on the same property since 1963, first in a house built in 1870 where my children had to wear coats in the winter inside even though I paid $400 a month to fuel companies. When “we” (at the time) built a new home on the same property of course taxes went up and now as a single woman I, who have lived on the homestead all these years, have to give up the only home I have ever known because of those taxes. I work a full time job and three part time jobs and am still being sued by creditors and soon by the county for taxes, does this make sense or have things in this world gotten out of hand for the “middle class.” I make too much to get any aid ($38,000) and not enough to get a loan and all the bigwigs want me to help bail them out? I said I would vote if someone ran for office and was truthful, if someone would get up there and say “hey, I will try to do this or that but I can’t make you any promises” Please don’t tell me lies, I’ve heard them every election, all my life. I did not vote and I do not support the spending on this day or any day. By the way, I work for the State of New York who as we all know is also in financial trouble, what a sorry nation we are.
