Wednesday Open Thread: October 14th, 2009

Posted on October 14, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s on your mind this Wednesday?

Here’s an article by Dick Morris on the costs of the Deathcare Bill the White House is trying to push through.    If Morris is right, it’s going to be disaster for all of us, including — ironically — the people who are pushing this through (who will suffer the consequences at the ballot boxes once people realize what’s been done to them).  According to Morris. the plan cuts Medicare by billions, denies healthcare to the elderly, causes rationing due to doctor and nurse shortages necessitated by the 30 million new people who’ll receive free healthcare, and cuts off the lifeline to cheap Canadian pharmaceuticals that has been keeping many people alive (or, at the very least, from killing others by soothing them with affordable Prozac).

On top of all this, the whole plan is ridiculous because it is cheaper for young people to pay the $1,000 penalty a year and NOT buy health insurance than to pay 7.5% of their income (average of $3,500 a year) for insurance the invincible, indestructable, never-ever-sick young (in their minds, at least) don’t believe they need.  Under the proposed program, people can’t be denied insurance for any current or pre-existing conditions.  That means people will go as long as possible without insurance, until they get sick, then they will buy it and suffer no penalities for higher premiums because the government will subsidize all costs above 7.5% of a person’s income.

And all of that means higher taxes for everyone.

It is an enormous disaster in the making.

On Hannity’s show last night, he had on Jerome Corsi (author of “Obama Nation”)and he explained Obama’s idea of globalization and how he plans to make us part of a world global economy. Obama did not invent this concept; he is definitely being led by someone else’s ideology. The plan is not to redistribute wealth among Americans, the plan is to redistribute American wealth around the world. If you can catch this show as a repeat, it is well worth listening to (and very scary).

“…how he plans to make us part of a world global economy.”

That would be a third world global economy, I guess? So far, he’s right on track. Poverty and unemployment are increasing, the nat’l debt is driving down our spending power, and the dollar is being replaced by euros and yens.

      • Buttered says:
        2009/10/14 at 11:06 am

That’s it Yttik. The U.S. is already part of the world economy.

        Duh.

Obama’s puppet masters mean they intend on giving the wealth to terrorists nations’ economies!

snark snark, but these days more truth is said in jest than from the lips of our ::::cough cough:::: public servants.

Susan H, I posted a radio interview with Bettina Viviano (We Will Not Be Silenced) a couple of weeks ago. In the interview, she said that a political insider friend of hers said that the reason Obama was CHOSEN by the DNC (and other nefarious powers) long before the primaries was that he was the only one willing to collapse the dollar. Hillary Clinton WAS NOT willing to do it.

Here’s the program, again (scroll down for the show–which was mostly about the caucus fraud):

This is terrible but I am really getting angry at the people who voted for ‘O’. I feel that they deserve all of this – their taxes going up, (even tho’ they earn less than $250,000 per year), their heat bills going up, their cost of cigs going up, etc., etc. The ignorant are going to be the ones suffering and I have NO sympathy for them whatsoever. I feel that as a small business owner who DOES provide health insurance for our employees and we pay 75%, that it is going to cost them alot more when we cancel our group policy and force them to take the gov’t plan. They think all of this stuff is free, but it is not. I really am feeling this sense of anger and bitterness towards others and can’t say that I am proud of it but it is getting stronger. Anyone else feel like this?

I feel the same way Deb. I have not felt the same about my sister since she became one of the sheeple blindly following O’TOTUS. Sometimes I wish we could round up all of his worshippers and corral them in one part of the country while the rest of us live in the America our forefather’s established for us. I know I will never take this country for granted again.

        “…the DNC…and other nefarious powers…”

Kinda like we have all been dropped into some ‘blockbuster’ movie where an evil overlord seeks world domination…and Batman/JamesBond/Spiderman has to foil the plot.

We have no super hero, do we? Its like spitting into the wind. Call your Senator your Rep…but for what? A Healthcare Bill that they approved, that isn’t written yet, that no one know what will be in the final copy; an economy that is being PURPOSELY destroyed by liars (the recession is over??? WTF???) And we are all supposed to grin from ear to ear with pride that we have a ‘post racial, Nobel laureate’ leading our demise.

What is wrong with this Country?

If there is ever a time when I feel the most powerless, it is now. There is this current to ram this thing through, in spite of the objections, in spite of the outrage, in spite of the publicity. They will throw as many of the politicians under the Utopia Express as possible to get this thing done. These washington idiots are allowing themselves to be fertilizer for the growth of this hideous plant. We don’t have a representative government, and we truly live under a tyranny.

I’ve been doing a little reading on the Bilderberg Group and its possible role in all of this and, frankly, I don’t know what to make of it. It is like a movie. I’m trying to e-mail the podcasts, via three separate e-mails w/one file each attached, to MIA, TX MOM, and PVG, but not having any luck. I guess they’re too big. I hate not knowing how to share these with anyone here who’s interested.

Those of us who love HRC have watched her up close, or, like the HB boyz, worked closely with her and those close to her. No one, and I mean no one, with roots in Scranton, PA, wants a one world order or for the US to lose sovereignty in any way. When Hill says to take advantage of a crisis, she doesn’t mean the same thing as Geithner or Paulson, etc.

I personally feel better knowing that she’s in the administration. And, as I’ve said before, I believe she has a plan up her sleeve. Utopia hasn’t even been in office a year yet, so I’m giving Hill more time to enact her plan–whatever it may be, and I don’t think it includes effing the country she genuinely loves.

I personally will continue to trust her unless and until she gives me a reason to do otherwise.

People in Hill’s position need a strategy to come forth with info, etc. Had she screamed about the caucus cheating, for example, she’d have been dismissed, like we PUMAs, as a bitter, old, byotch sore loser.

          Wait and see.

What’s on my mind today is Rush Limbaugh. Now, I’m not a big fan of El Rusbo, rarely listen to him, am never offended by him. He’s a news commentator, not a reporter, has never pretended to be (unlike the jokers below). But what is being done to him is unconscionable.

    1. We have Chris Matthews comparing him to a Bond villain and suggesting someone shove a CO2 pellet in his mouth.

    http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/checker.aspx?v=GdSU8zqGSU

    2. A Pulitzer Prize winner saying Rush would treat an NFL team like his own personal plantation and how we should look up on YouTube his 10 most outrageous racist comments.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/10/13/msnbc-guest-for-limbaugh-owning-an-nfl-team-would-be-like-owning-a-plantation/

What gives these people the right to use a NEWS show as a vehicle to trash an American citizen and lobby to prevent him from becoming part of an NFL ownership team? This is outright slander and viciousness, and frankly, I think Limbaugh has every right to sue their butts off.

Why is MSNBC still on the air?

    • OhioDee says:
      2009/10/14 at 12:35 pm

Not only is this outrageous, but there are so many lies about what he supposedly said that they will end up in court over this. Problem is, will they ever retract the lies? Oh, IF they do, it will be AFTER the NFL decides against his bid.

Obviously, the left will do ANYTHING to get their way. We are all in big trouble. :(

      • scr_north says:
        2009/10/14 at 12:52 pm

Hi all. If this ends up in court then the reporters that repeated the lies as well as their employers are in for a very rough ride. Rush has made quite a bit of money over the years and he has the assets as well as the drive to hammer these people. By the by, he’s letting some of them have a bit of a taste today. Pretty funny, he really hammered Rick Sanchez, the Katzenjammer Kids (Sharpton and Jackson) etc.

There is a local a.m., conservative talk show in my market (Pittsburgh) its Quinn and Rose. I have found myself listening in the car, or while getting ready for work…religiously. Amazing…how all of ‘this’ has changed so many minds and hearts…but

This morning they were discussing the absolute slurring of Rush Limbaugh (he never said the quotes attributed to him…unbelievably Wiki was used a news gathering source!!! By ‘professional’ journalists…) but the kicker is…Limbaugh has very deep pockets. He has the ability to sue for liable and slander AND monetary damages (in the event that the NFL forbids him from buying into the St. Louis Rams’ franchise.

Right now Limbaugh’s lawyers have set upon the news organization to either produce the audio/video of Rush making the statements they have attributed to him (but they cannot because EIB, his company, archieves everything…and they have infact searched and not found any such quote(s)) so it has been requested to ‘cease and desist’ issue full apology and retraction OR be served.

          Delicious.

I agree totally!! I am sick of the race card being pulled at every turn. I stopped listening to Air America and NPR when they all turned into obots. I started listening to Hannity on the radio when he was covering Rev. Wright. Turned the radio on early one day and caught Rush’s show. I listen most days now. He’s way more conservative than I, but he does his homework and he is a satirical genius. No one does radio better.

        2009/10/15 at 4:30 am

In the meantime, while Rush is being banned by the NFL, the NAACP in Baltimore are very concerned that the governor of the state might appoint as their new mayor – hold on to your hats now – a white person! OMG!

It even gets worse folks. The governor may even appoint someone who is IRISH!.

Trying it again …. not sure why my post vanished when I hit submit.

Rush Limbaugh is on my mind today. I’m not a big fan of El Rusbo by any means, but why is it the goal of MSNBC to prevent him from becoming part of an NFL ownership team?

Chris Matthews is watching his career swirl further down the toilet by suggesting not only that Limbaugh is a Bond villain but that someone should shove a CO2 pellet in his mouth. Seriously? This is on a NEWS network?

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/10/13/video-matthews-muses-on-killing-rush-limbaugh/

Second, we have a Pulitzer Prize winner stating that Limbaugh would treat his team like his own personal plantation. Can we say race baiting? Can we say slander? To support her suggestion she tells viewers they should look up on YouTube a video that shows Limbaugh’s 10 most outrageous racist statements. Because, yeah, like, totally, You Tube is the ultimate new authority and is never ever edited or dubbed.

It’s absolutely staggering to me that any of this is being allowed, the overt trashing of an American citizen, attempts to prevent him from purchasing something that is openly being sold, because some people don’t like his politics.

    Absolutely staggering.

    Interesting FYI….

    Europe Blocks US Toxic Products

Why on earth would our corporate media fail to keep us informed?

[T]he US has become the dumping ground for toxic toys, electronics and cosmetics. We produce and consume the toxic materials, from which other countries around the world are protected.

US deregulation of toxic substances, such as lead in lipsticks, mercury in electronics, and phthalates (endocrine disruptors) in baby toys, may not only pose disastrous consequences to our health, but also to our economic and political status in the world.

“Europe Blocks US Toxic Products” is one of the 25 top stories identified by Project Censored as receiving little or no coverage by the U.S. media. Project Censored identifies “important national news stories that are underreported, ignored, misrepresented, or censored by the US corporate media.”

Why on earth would our corporate media fail to keep us informed?

What a great, clear concise and (oddly) humorous quote from GWB…who history will view quite nicely…unlike the great ‘wordsmith’ that is The Won.

How would Utopia phrase that? How about ‘I apologize sincerely (pause) the vast waste (pause) of humanitarian aid funding (pause) that has been squandered by the(pause) United States war machine (pause) on missiles that have (pause) no purpose; (pause) no real target (pause). In the nine hallowed months (pause) since I took office (pause) I have reached out (pause) to those who are forced to unfairly (pause) live in tents (pause) in the Middle East (pause) to make them equal (pause) in world standing (pause) as ALL countries (pause) should be. I really don’t think the federal government has the Constitutional authority to force anyone to buy health insurance or face a fine. That authority would/should be reserved for the states, like the authority to mandate auto insurance if you drive.

What’s amazing to me is that virtually nobody is talking about that aspect of the argument.

    • aj l says:
      2009/10/14 at 3:45 pm

I was wondering about that also. You would think that at least 1 Constitutional attorney would have the mindset to come forward and question the forcing of people to pay a fine for something that they choose not to be involved with. That would be the equivalent of forcing people that don’t own a car to pay for automobile insurance. It’s absurd.

    • Bill says:
      2009/10/14 at 4:18 pm

Ultimately, everything has to end up being settled in the court, probably supreme court. We used to have a body of lawmakers who know in advance that the legislation they are considering is even constitutional. Nowadays, they pass an unconstitutional law and challenges someone to spend the money to bring it to court. That’s not a government I bargained for!

Came across this in an email:

For those who think George W. Bush was the dumbest president ever…

If George W. Bush had given Prime Minister Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Prime Minister Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to Cinco de Cuatro in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and ‘potatoe’ as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan , causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W.. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W.. Bush had reduced your retirement plans holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in 5 months – so you’ll have three years and seven months to come up with an answer.

No common-sense, naive, incompetent, uninformed voters did this to themselves. Insanity is wide-spread. Real Americans are waking up.

    I miss George W. Bush.

The healthcare tax (insurance bailout plan). If you pay the healthcare tax doesn’t mean you will qualify to use it. Just like Medicare/SSN, there are qualifiers in place.

Also, anyone who has healthcare has to keep their own but also will still get taxed the $3,500/yr to pay for someone else. That number is a lowball figure doomed to go up.

Mary, have you seen this interesting take on the Daily Beast concerning White House attacks?

How Fox News Outsmarted the White House

          by John Batchelor

The White House’s war on Fox shows its ignorance of the network’s true purpose: show business. And Team Obama is giving Murdoch just what he wants.

After David Axelrod sneaked into Roger Ailes’ office in New York to powwow on Sept. 30, the White House brain trust of David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel decided that it is shrewd and useful to attack Fox News as a Republican tool—or as White House Communications Director Anita Dunn remarked, as “a wing of the Republican Party.” It is a guess that the president is not annoyed by this tactic. It is a better guess that the White House has not had a chance, in its custard pie-throwing glee, to pause and consider why this is a stupid idea—not only unfair to all other networks that will become suspect, but also guaranteed to give comedy skits about Fox an attention around the globe not achieved since Walter Cronkite’s moon-landing moment.

What’s worse than stupid about the conspiracy theory that Fox News is a pachyderm is that it is wrong. Fox News has nothing to do with the Republican Party or its dreary state. “We go to Fox because that’s the only place that will put us on TV,” a desultory Republican source admits. “But they don’t help us by telling everyone that we suck…..

The worst mistake Axelrod and Emanuel are making by confusing Fox News with the Republican Party is that they are confusing campaigning with entertaining and then letting this mistake blind them to the fact that the White House is for governing, not just staging…..

Go read the whole thing for yourself. It’s a flaming hot log up the entry hall of the Blight House!

Considering that Rush realized that the bullseye is always on him, when he denies saying what these morons are saying about him, I would advise these media morons to call their lawyers now. It isn’t likely that Rush is going to let this go. The first step in any proceeding is to be sure that the party making these false accusations are given the opportunity to respond and make amends. I doubt their arrogance will permit it unless their lawyers sit on them. For some of them, they will need some pretty heavy lawyers to do the trick… I personally hope that Mr. Limbaugh can humiliate them.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/13/tentative-inspection-program-allow-russia-visit-nuclear-sites/

Russia and the United States have tentatively agreed to a weapons inspection program that would allow Russians to visit nuclear sites in America to count missiles and warheads.

The plan, which Fox News has learned was agreed to in principle during negotiations, would constitute the most intrusive weapons inspection program the U.S. has ever accepted.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/10/14/usa-today-democrats-now-represent-most-of-the-countrys-richest-districts/

“The Democratic-controlled House is now an unusual combination of the richest and poorest districts, the best and least educated, and the best and the worst insured. The analysis found that Democrats have attracted educated, affluent whites who had tended previously to vote Republican.

Democrats now represent 57% of the 4.8 million households that had incomes of $200,000 or more in 2008. In 2005, Republicans represented 55% of those affluent households……

Megan McArdle peers into her crystal ball and sees … a cloudy future:

I think it is more likely is that this thing passes, and fails spectacularly. There are too many moving parts, and if any of them breaks, the whole thing rapidly starts to spin out of control and eat a gigantic hole in the deficit. If it does break, I think that Democrats keep control of Congress just long enough to explain why they keep having to enact whopping new tax increases every few years. Republicans don’t need to improve their message. They just have to wait for Democrats to recover their reputation as tax and spend politicians who woefully underpredict the cost of everything they propose.”
