I don’t trust O and his new “drill-baby-drill” mantra…something more sinister behind it..I am sure…Cap and Trade Taxes are on their way peeps..not good.
I agree. He is doing this to avoid fillibuster in the Senate.

Of course he’s up to no good. I think he’s actually trying to usurp Sarah if only in rhetoric. It dawned on me yesterday how he knowingly and in his very Alinsky-like manner threw a bomb at Mitt Romney by comparing Obamacare to Romneycare. He did a whole lot of damage to Mitt with that one statement. He actually did the Republicans a favor by getting this RINO out of the race so soon and I think conservatives should use it over and over again to prevent the MSM from ramming Romney down our throats in 2012. http://hotair.com/archives/2010/03/30/obama-you-know-my-plans-a-lot-like-romneycare-isnt-it/
In his warped way, I think Obama really wants to go up against Sarah Palin because he thinks that she will be a pushover and an easy win for him. Boy do we have news for him!!!
It’s a stunt to “appease” the right, so that he can claim he reached out and was bipartisan, and they rejected him. Such a horse’s @$$.
Well, this part of the right is not appeasable. It infuriates me to realize that there are probably a whole bunch of ninnies who will melt and say, “Oh, wow, he’s going to let them drill for oil….maybe we were wrong about him.”
I keep saying it and saying, never forget what we have seen in the past 6 months. We have seen WHO THIS THUG is…..and no matter what comes out of his lying mouth in the future, never, never, never forget what you have seen. You have seen WHO HE IS….and that does not change.
Like Rush says, “a tiger is a tiger is a tiger…”
Mark, I am with you on this one. Utopia is up to something. I don’t believe a more moderate Dem like Bill Clinton would be opening up more drilling, especially off the eastern seaboard. (And I am not trying to disparage Mr. Clinton.) This is too much to the center-right for a Utopian!
So what’s up his sleeve?
It’s just a diversion. (If they do allowing drilling it won’t happen for years.) He announced this today to overshadow the news that CO2 has been labeled a pollutant by the EPA and we are about to see more massive carbon regulations.
Mike Pence: “The President’s announcement today is a smokescreen. It will almost certainly delay any new offshore exploration until at least 2012 and include only a fraction of the offshore resources that the previous Administration included in its plan.
“Unfortunately, this is yet another feeble attempt to gain votes for the President’s national energy tax bill that is languishing in the Senate. At the end of the day this Administration’s energy plan is simple: increase the cost of energy on every family in America and trade American jobs oversees at a time when millions of Americans are looking for work.”
http://michellemalkin.com/2010/03/31/of-pipelines-and-pipedreams-obamas-drilling-deception/
“With cap-and-trade legislation nearly dead in the Senate, the Obama administration now hopes to ram climate regulation through the backdoor.
“Apparently heeding White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s advice to “never allow a crisis to go to waste,” the Environmental Protection Agency last December issued its “endangerment finding” that carbon dioxide is a threat to human health and the environment.”

The oil drilling is just like nuclear power. One plant! Give me a break. I was born, but not yesterday.
Regional war in the Middle East is coming and he’s preparing for the oil embargos from the ME cartel.
And he’s throwing us a bone. Big f****** deal.
It’s just a distraction while he loots the Student Loan funds and gets ready to shove Cap and Tax through.
Lieberman’s got some lame energy bill and they think the RINO’s will hop on board as they usually do.
“Look over HERE. Something SHINY!”
I’m waiting to hear what Sarah has to say about this if, in fact, there have been any ‘details’ released, which I doubt.
Sarah’s the only ‘oil man’ I’D trust.
“I’m waiting to hear what Sarah has to say about this if, in fact, there have been any ‘details’ released, which I doubt.
Sarah’s the only ‘oil man’ I’D trust.”
I had the EXACT same thought when I first read this news. He is up to no good, as usual.
Susan
It is a trick to get support for cap and tax. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
Exactly! A bone to the rinos.
Strangely, I got a phone survey call from the “american conservation society” on Monday asking questions about drilling, etc. I wonder who employed that group.
This is for Cap and Tax. Big Government has an article saying that this is heading our way.

putin doesnt mince words when his countrymen are attacked..a far cry from our nobama’s reaction when tragedy strikes here!

I really like him.
He should be able to run for President here, being a natural born citizen doesn’t appear to be a requirement.
Now that Obama is getting in the oil business I’m wondering how long before they start taking over the oil companies. We should start a pool bet.
I wonder a few things about health care under Obama, in light of my mom’s recent cancer diagnosis and surgery:
1. Would her cancer have been caught? Or would a doctor’s visit, MRI, and colonoscopy been impossible to schedule in a life-saving timeframe?
2. If my mom were in her 80s (she is now in her early 60s), would Obamacare even allow mom to be treated with chemo? Or would she be given pain pills and left to die?
3. What will health care look like for me when I am 60+ and need something done?
That’s what’s worrying me today. Am I alone in this?
No you’re not.
All your concerns are valid, which is why we need to repeal the bill!
My husband and I are in our 60′s and his Mom is 86. We are very worried and feel that if anything major happens, we will be made comfortable but not made better. After all, we have out lived our ability to contribute to society.
my American aunt is in her 80s. She had a heart bypass a few years ago. I worry that now if she has more problems that she will be turned away from all medical treatment.
Oh, qr4j, you are SO not alone — and your family is in our prayers.
Our family, while blessedly free of a cancer history, has a history of asthma, multiple allergic reactions, early arthritis, and being born with extra, sometimes dysfunctional, internal organs.
None of these conditions is life-threatening with even basic modern medical treatment, but all severely impair quality of life if not treated aggressively. My husband and I know that our children won’t be born free of problems — it’s just a matter of which ones.
I’m so worried that in the future, doctors will just treat to the point where your life is not endangered, and then call it quits, telling you, OK, you’ll be miserable for the rest of your life, but at least you’re alive. No one in our family wants to live that way.
Repeal!
just a note here, sometimes arthritis is treated with cancer drugs, and sometimes the new biologics are necessary. However, the biologics are expensive.
This “reform” could spell the end of a group of people with AS getting necessary medications. I worry about them too.
qr4j, you are not alone in this concern. If an Insurance Co. denies a claim, you can go over thier head to the Insurance Commissioner or other state official. Unfortunately for us, if the Fed takes over this and denies a claim, you’re screwed. My husband is 55, I am 45. We will be royally screwed if this does not get overturned/repealed.
qr4j, you are not alone…prayers up for your mom (and you). G-d speed!
qr4j -
You are not alone – I have had the same thoughts, as well as wondering if there will be any social security left when it’s time for me to retire (in about 8 years.)
I am getting into natural medicine more & more. Prescription drugs are mostly poison, with many terrible side effects. I started taking Vitamin D3 for my immune system last year (no flu shots for me!) I did not have as much as a sniffle all winter. There has been alot of research on the benefits of vitamin D against cancer. Go to http://www.vitamindcouncil.org for more info.
I hope & pray your Mom has a blessed recovery!
Susan
It will not stand, I can promise you. At the end of all this, I’ll bet the few Dems left in Washington will BEG to help us repeal it.
We are about to clean the floor with these people.
http://spectator.org/archives/2010/03/31/reflection-on-brains-and-bara
Today’s American Spectator features a reflection on Comrade Soetoro’s intellectual fortitude – real and imagined – which is worth reading, but the best is this readers’s stunning summary:
“This penny-ante thug had his rigid, small, sadistic, doctrinaire mind made up for him by radical, irresponsible and indifferent parents (funny how radicals are always utter messes in their personal lives). Rootless and unloved – or used – by most adults around him, he bounced around absorbing the Tyrant’s lesson that one can slay one’s personal demons by projecting them onto society and then destroying the objects onto which those demons are projected.
He was ushered through the thresholds of successive elite institutions as an affirmative action cracker jack toy for the left without ever being seriously challenged.
(Remember, “President” of the Harvard Law Review is a ceremonial title – not to be confused with the hands-on smarts required to be editor).
And at every stop, the aim was only to burnish his halo, to create an image that would be an effective Trojan horse of the left. Lull the masses to sleep with a gift that will absolve them of the original sin of White Guilt – and once he’s inside the city walls, release the hounds and stick it to the poor schmucks before the intoxication of Being Good wears off.
Why, Obama’s personal traits were always irrelevant to his Great Purpose. Of course it’s personal traits that actually forge the mettle of REAL presidents, but Obama is not a president; he’s a dictator.
Obama is perhaps the most incurious president we’ve had in my lifetime, and I go back pretty far by now. See, his job is to tell you what you’re opinion is and what’s good for you. And if you know what’s good for you, you’ll get your mind right – and right quick.
The guy is facile, in a callow, presumptuous grad student sort of way. I’ll give him that. But he didn’t exactly win MENSA points with that shocking performance in front of Brett Baier, the only journalist to challenge Our Dear Leader (may he live and rule over us with benign wisdom for 1,000 years!). Those watching carefully might have noticed that the emperor wasn’t wearing any clothes at all.
But emotional intelligence? Overall knowledge? Understanding of economics? History? Geography? Philosophy? Religion? Science? Math? Human nature? Compassion? Please.
He can’t even fake decorum. Because he doesn’t give a damn about any of that. He and his administration are too busy engineering the institutional shock collar that will FINALLY bring the people to heel with the push of a button.
The dude’s a ZERO. Less than zero, actually. What he doesn’t know could fill a galaxy, and what he does know is untenable hogwash, populist hokum and long-disproven tenets of a moribund ideology.
But you libs didn’t hire him for his smarts. You hired him to be a mirror to reflect the pleasing image of your own moral vanity, or perhaps because your bank accounts benefit from his breathtaking, blatant corruption. Maybe you really believe that THIS time, unlike throughout the rest of history, Obama will get socialism right. Or corporate cronyism, or fascism, or Marxism, or whatever facet of this tyranny is prettiest to you.
Or maybe you just hate the legions of regular, hardworking people who once made this country great. Yeah, the Trojan horse is now within the city walls. And still, after he wreaks utter havoc and destroys the edifice of this country, smashing institutions and killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, you people look upon the destruction and wonder how it could have happened; it looked so good on paper.
As Forrest Gump (or was it Bill Clinton?) said, “stupid is as stupid does.”ll Clinton?) said, “stupid is as stupid does.”
“Newsweek’s Evan Thomas and Jon Meacham shared a bizarre Obama love-fest session with Charlie Rose on the PBS host’s program on Wednesday. Meacham stated that he was “very struck watching the stagecraft” of Obama and pointed out how Obama gave his victory speech by himself: “…[H]ave you ever seen a victory speech where there was no one else on stage? No adoring wife, no cute kid — he is the message.” Thomas went one step further in this vein: “There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all of this.” Rose confronted him on his use of this phrase, and he explained that it made him “a little uneasy that he’s so singular. He’s clearly managing his own spectacle. He knows how to do it. He’s a — I think, a deeply manipulative guy…” Later, all three marveled about how it was “amazing” that Obama “watches us watching him.”

very well put, i so agree, but surely there were many who shouted from the housetops, recall hannity being one of the more vocal ones, who saw thru his facade! but even we, had no clue as to how really evil he is!
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.
Standing ovation. Did you hear that Tom Tancredo suggested a “civics literacy test” before voting? Can you imagine how many of those ACORN nuts would fail?!
Of course, the “left” spread this story as “Tancredo wants literacy test to eliminate black voters”.
the problem with the suggestion is that this is what the Democrats did after they won back power during the Reconstruction period.
First they became the Ku Klux Klan frightening the blacks away from voting, killing them and the Republicans. Then when they gained control they introduced literacy tests to ensure that blacks were disenfranchised.
Tom Tancredo is suggesting the wrong thing which can be used against everyone who opposed Dr. Utopia.
But it’s a test on the ISSUES of the election, not a test of the ability to read. Tancredo even said it could be written in Spanish, or even an oral exam for those who can not read. People have NO idea what they’re voting for. I, too, would object to any kind of actual literacy test, but a basic questionnaire on the main issues of the campaign? Not so much.
Aussie is right about this. Suggesting tests for voters before they vote will just be used by the Lefties as a diversion from real issues. This dog don’t hunt, in my opinion. We need to use the dogs that do hunt.
this is so true.
Even if 0bamalosi agenda is rolled back, it won’t be long before it rises again.
Seen on a blog comment that I thought was insightful, eloquent, and correct.

Great summation! It always cheeses me off that Dr. Zero is considered so much more intelligent than former Pres. Bush. It’s annoying. Is it because he went to an Ivy League school? Oohhhh… well, hate to break it to socialist liberals but an Ivy League education doesn’t mean you’re any more intelligent than others who go to school and worked harder without the affirmative action break.
On my mind…Atlas Shrugs has a good article looking at the White House guest list at CEOs who have been there and are now under fire for announcing their compliance to SEC rules resulting in write-offs. It links to a great 4-part article on GE and their deals with the Won to make gazillions on cap and trade. Isn’t it strange that GE has announced that they will have no write-offs like the other Corps. have announced? What other big names are unaffected? Perhaps Apple and Google?
Also on my mind, this Apple boycott of Fox news entirely. There has already been a boycott of Beck started last Fall by one of Soros’s funded groups. Now that Marxist Faith Based Minister is in the mix, too. Does anyone have a list of all 200 companies that are boycotting Beck and Fox? I found a partial list from October of last year.
What gets me is that some of the large names that are on this partial list are the very companies that we have been sticking up for on this site. i.e.Toyota, AT&T, Verizon, P&G. Their press releases on this list all say the same thing. They choose to use their advertising dollars to reach their customer base and in a place that is representative of their customers’ values. The initial boycott Beck movement seems to have now evolved to boycott Fox. I guess if you watch Fox, they don’t want your business. It would be helpful to have a list to avoid the sellers who don’t like Fox fans.
Agree with much of what you post. I know that AT&T has been a huge supporter of the Dems for years, and that they have also had a license to rip off our military men and women overseas for years.
So, AT&T does not have my sympathy or support. Big, Bad Waxman-the-Taxman now going to subject you to a show trial? Boo-freakin’-hoo. You bought ‘em, deal with the fall out.
Ditto for the rest of the list. Big D contributors overwhelmingly? (Eg: Sam Adams brewery). Not only will I boycott, but I’ll write you a letter letting you know I’m not in your corner. If you want to be evenhanded with your political contributions and support Beck & FOX news, then we can talk. Until then ….talk to the hand.
There are many policies about Coca-Cola that I don’t like, including their one-handedness with the handing out of their scholarship money (lesser qualified minorities get far more than equally or more socio-economically disadvantaged whites), their policies overseas WRT to water, etc. So I decided to boycott Coke products. I don’t buy them, haven’t for year. Bought a rootbeer kit online and the kids and I had fun learning how to make homemade sodas and pizza from scratch. Now we even grow our own heirloom tomatoes and make the sauce from scratch.
Our rewards? Valuable family time doing fun activities, teaching our kids that you don’t need to run to a store, saving money, etc. And I’m not supporting policies I don’t agree with.
Yes, sometimes I still will buy a Coke occasionally (like all of 3X in the entire last year, I have to keep a food journal, so I know!).
Live what you preach.
The companies that are boycotting Beck are listed on http://www.stopbeck.com.
Ever since I found out about GE’s complicity in the cap and trade and obamacare fiascos, I wouldn’t buy a product from them if it were the last product on earth. Same for Apple. Was about to buy an IPad, but they can forget it now. By the way, any one notice all the recent GE commericals about how efficient your medical records will be compiled and easily accessed and shared through the new GE database system?
These companies are boycotting Beck for purely political reasons and not economic ones. I say we should do the same. If they want to be marxist, so be it but they can’t do it with capitalist dollars.
I just bought a new dryer and made a point not to purchase a GE. I hope hundreds of thousands of people across the US are making similar kinds of decisions.
Thanks Lulu. I have been boycotting GE and as many of the NBC group as I can. I did not know about Toyota. We are 30 year Toyota owners and have been on their side and supporting them since Congress started after them. I was going to contact AT&T and give them my support for standing up to the Congress mafia on this tax write-off because of healthcare. Now I guess that I won’t. My husband worked for AT&T for nearly 30 years although after he retired, he became a retiree of Lucent. I didn’t realize about Coke’s transgressions until mentioned above
I have seen the GE ads for the medical records thing. I really don’t like them at all and have contacted Comcast who is dealing to buy NBC and Universal Entertainment. Haven’t heard back though.
The list here is for 121 companies. WaPo now claims over 300 but I think they might be fibbing a bit.
Beck and Fox are our only network sources of the truth in America. Beck has never been challenged on the facts he states. When he referred to the O as a racist, he was referring to the O’s own statements in his “Dreams….” book. They think if they can force Fox to get rid of Beck, then they can go after Hannity and O’Reilly. I don’t shop much, no money, but I will boycott and let these people know how I feel.
Thank you so much for this!
I didn’t realize the boycott was ongoing.
I see Allstate and State Farm are on the list, and I’ll bring it to the attention of the Studmuffin when he gets home. We’ll be switching back to USAA.
Kraft is going to be problematic, just because they are so huge and have so many subsidiaries, but I will do my best.
I guess I need to start adding writing three letters a day as part of my morning routine, explaining why I am not supporting them.
We need to support Beck!
“By the way, any one notice all the recent GE commercials about how efficient your medical records will be compiled and easily accessed and shared through the new GE database system?”
What I am wondering is how do we stay under the radar on this and not get into the record base further? What really bothers me is how much info has already been compiled on us. My son’s social security number has never been given anywhere medically, and I mean never. The only place it has ever been used until two years ago is on our income tax forms. Then two years ago he enrolled in school for the first time and it was needed then. Well, I heard the nurse rattle off his number, before his name, to another office when arranging to have a growth removed from his abdomen. That infuriated me and I want to know how to stop all this personal information being gathered? Any docs out there considering going back to the old fashion days of paper files and no filing of insurance; let the patients turn in the claims themselves?
We gave up Coke products when they started the whole Hopenhagen thing right before the Copenhagen meeting. Check online – there are a lot of products associated with Coca Cola.
A little O/T, but here’s a link to the documentary (available by instaplay on Netflix) that we watched WITH our 12 year old about the water wars, and it was a good starting point for a discussion. (the Studmuffin had more issues with the editorial slant and oversimplification of the issues than I did, but overall, a good starting point for making her realize what some of the issues are in our ever increasingly interconnected world and the competition for resources).
They do take some time to discuss Coke, Nestle, and the issues of bottled spring water domestically.
Water is really the only one single thing you MUST have to sustain life. You can go without many other things for extended periods, but not WATER.
I will not support their policies to take advantage of the poor so shamelessly, nor their race-based appeasement.
Sorry, forgot the link
http://www.bluegold-worldwaterwars.com/
Thanks…just ordered the dvd from Netflix. I can’t do instant play because of where my computer is located. My husband is taking a nap.
Okay, sorry for all the replies.
I called Allstate Corporate and was connected to their executive offices, explaining that we were long time Allstate customers and we were canceling our policy because of the Color of Change boycott.
They started out with, “Well, that’s not true, we haven’t made up our minds yet”, to which I cut them off before they could launch into their canned PR reply:
“I haven’t seen Allstate advertise on a Glenn Beck show I have watched in the last three months. That says it all. You are suppressing my free speech by withholding your advertising dollars. I’m expressing mine by refusing to buy your products”.
Click.
Next up was Marriott.
We were getting ready to sign a contract with them for a large annual event, worth several tens of thousands of dollars.
I explained that I am aware that our one small account doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, but since they have elected to appease race-baiters, I no longer need to give them my business.
Two done for today, more tomorrow.
Way to go!!
nice job! Please provide phone numbers so we can also call?
Just got off the phone with CVS. They were pretty pleased with themselves that they are boycotting Glenn’s show.
I asked them how many people calling in support of the Color of Change boycott are real customers, since this is an SEIU led effort (paid people at phone banks, etc).
Silence.
Then she stated she didn’t know.
I asked the same question of Allstate and Marriott. I provided my account info and history ….. and asked how many other people in support of the boycott can do the same?
*Crickets*.
The point needs to be made, are they losing real customers with real $$$ to spend, or just responding to race-baiting by SEIU?
Tel #’s ….I’ve just been looking up the numbers on the corporate website.
If GE does not do an adjustment on their balance sheet then they are not complying with Accounting Standards – just like with Enron.
It sounds like they need to be investigated for accounting fraud.
Does anyone have confirmation that Apple has pulled all advertising from fox? Did they ever advertise on fox, I don’t have a TV so I wouldn’t know! I read the article about Apple on Big Journalism and came here to see if it was being discussed.
If this is true, I will most definitely join in writing them to let them know about the future money I will not be spending at the Apple Store. We have two iPhones that we will be considering upgrades on this summer. Looks like back to a regular phone or blackberry for us. New iPad we were seriously soon to buy? Not gonna happen!! The new iMac we had been planning for? Looks like the old one will just have to do. I mean I can’t go back to a pc, but I am not going to give Apple $2000 for a new computer in light of them pulling ads from Fox.
Wow, looks like we are going to save about $3000 over the course of the next year. I do believe that money will be much better invested in supporting the likes of Michelle Bachmann and Marco Rubio instead!!
Forgot to add, here is a link to a site that has a positive letter writing campaign for his current sponsors to let them know you will support them for not giving in to being bullied by the race baiters:
http://defendglenn.com/
Thanks for the info MusicMom. We have been Mac users for many years. We bought our new Mac two years ago and have been happy with it as compared to a PC. Politically, they have gone very left. Besides being very wealthy Obots, they are also firmly in the Cap and Trade camp and totally believe the Global Warming untruths. Al Gore sits on their board of directors. Remember last year when they were promoting everything Obama on the Apple site when you logged on? There was some kind of promo about the marriage of technology in a coffee table book about Obama.
We needed to upgrade our computer but we have avoided the iphone, ipod, ibook, and now the ipad. I like their one product but I sure don’t like their using their immense power and wealth to tell us how we should think. They obviously think that they are too big to fail.

Stay safe, hope you recover from the flood.
Thank you; I keep bailing. The landlady’s handyman will be here in a few hours with the wet vac. But this is not as bad as 10 (ten) days ago. Back then, we had a rug, with padding, now thrown out; and ‘things’ on the floor. We threw everything above ground and have left it there, just in case, until the ground thaws and can absorb more rain. It’s a good thing we did!
And Obama said everyone spoke of Armagedon when the health bill was signed, and he only saw clear skies and beautiful weather. Come to the Northeast where it’s Armagedon for the third time, and the same months, all when the Healthcare bill was being rammed down our throats. Sunshine my **s.

Um, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the Boyz have become calendar challenged lately?
First there was the Memorial Day stuff, and now apparently the calendar is going in reverse. It’s the 31st.
What’s going on in the background that you guys are so distracted? This is very unlike you. Attention to detail is one of your distinguishing characteristics.
Well, maybe the Boyz are no longer and the site has been high jacked by friend’s of the guy who thought there were 57/58 states; paid ACORN types.
This is not funny. Anyone actually know the Boyz personally? Is this some sort of distress signal from the Boyz? Quite frankly, they are too anal to have made mistakes like this! (That’s a compliment!!)
Rush and Glen were also “out” this week. Hmmm……..
Found an article on Pajamas Media covering gay political beliefs and the health care program. It echoes much of what the Boyz have said. Warning – it’s written as a fairy tale and the gays are the fairies, magical beings with their own problems and needs. If you can get past that, it raises the issue of how gays have been snookered on partner issues and health. The link is:
http://biggovernment.com/cwinecoff/2010/03/31/obamacare-a-fairy-tale-or-how-the-gay-community-lost-its-magic-power/#more-96262
I also fear that ObamaCare will prove bad for anyone the least bit queer — if you’re not an “average” person just needing “average” medical treatment, fuggedaboudit!
Gays should want to fight the loss of health-freedom for their own well-being, in my opinion.
On my mind today:
Obama claimed on his first state visit to Canada that he had Canadians on his staff.
Who are these people? What is their background? What is their relationship to POTUS?
Why do I want to know? Because Canada is a breeding ground for communists, who see no need to be undercover about their political persuasion. And the communists have infiltrated and taken over key universities. I know, I battled them as the CEO (Chief Electoral Officer) of student elections at our school many years ago.
Where did they go to school? Are they from Toronto or Vancouver, the West? How did they get connected with the O administration. What is their background and philosophy WRT to public policy?
These are the types of questions I am now asking myself, esp. in light of the diplomatic meltdown with Hill’s visit. That was deliberate. Why? Why do they want to not damage, but destroy their relationship with the GWN?
What is the Chicago-Canadian connection? It has to have communist ties at the root of it.
I guarantee it.
Excuuuuse Meee? How could any foreign citizen be on his staff? Isn’t that a breach of security and, like duh, aren’t those jobs for Americans? This is no light matter. Who cares where they are from or their ideology; NO Foreigner should be on the President of the United States staff and payroll!!!!!
And that is the issue on this subject.
A giant of a man — the legendary teacher Jaime Escalante — has passed.
http://michellemalkin.com/2010/03/30/jaime-escalante-r-i-p/
It is with great sadness, heavy heart, and moist eyes that I pass on the news to you that Jaime Escalante died today in Reno, Nevada while undergoing cancer treatment. Escalante has been one of my heroes since my days covering education in Los Angeles at the LA Daily News in the early 1990s. He was 79.
Jaime Escalante cared about kids. Not about teachers’ unions or partisan politics or educrat ass-covering or racial grievance-mongering. The Bolivian-born physics and math teacher demanded excellence and hard work, raised standards and expectations, and defied critics and naysayers by teaching algebra and calculus to East L.A. high school students whom the government school system had abandoned and written off. Escalante’s amazing results were made famous by education reporter Jay Matthews’ book, Escalante: The Best Teacher in America, and the biopic, Stand and Deliver, starring Edward James Olmos. He and his students were baselessly accused of cheating. Jealous colleagues undermined him at every step. Success always breeds such ill will. Success without apology breeds even deeper-seated destructive tendencies.
Just as minority students who excel in the inner cities are subjected to “Crab in the Bucket” syndrome, Escalante’s opponents did their best to bring him down and he endured retribution for his achievements, as Reason Magazine reported several years ago:
Death of a Dynasty
Escalante’s open admission policy, a major reason for his success, also paved the way for his departure. Calculus grew so popular at Garfield that classes grew beyond the 35-student limit set by the union contract. Some had more than 50 students. Escalante would have preferred to keep the classes below the limit had he been able to do so without either denying calculus to willing students or using teachers who were not up to his high standards. Neither was possible, and the teachers union complained about Garfield’s class sizes. Rather than compromise, Escalante moved on.
Other problems had been brewing as well. After Stand and Deliver was released, Escalante became an overnight celebrity. Teachers and other interested observers asked to sit in on his classes, and he received visits from political leaders and celebrities, including President George H.W. Bush and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. This attention aroused feelings of jealousy. In his last few years at Garfield, Escalante even received threats and hate mail. In 1990 he lost the math department chairmanship, the position that had enabled him to direct the pipeline.
A number of people at Garfield still have unkind words for the school’s most famous instructor. One administrator tells me Escalante wanted too much power. Some teachers complained that he was creating two math departments, one for his students and another for everyone else. When Escalante quit his job at Garfield, John Perez, a vice president of the teachers union, said, “Jaime didn’t get along with some of the teachers at his school. He pretty much was a loner.”
After being pushed out and moving on to another program, Escalante finally retired to Bolivia, but returned to the U.S. often to visit his children. In a recent interview with the L.A. Times from his sickbed, he summed up his philosophy:
“Determination. Plus discipline. Plus hard work. That is the path.”
Escalante’s death comes at a time when California education faddists are once again threatening a new front in the old Math Wars and clamoring to lower already degraded academic standards (see my work on the crap known as Everyday Math). We need more of the real deal Jaime Escalantes now more than ever. Instead, far too many teachers have abandoned their roles as imparters of knowledge for the lazy hackery of social justice activists.
In an age of dumbed-down schools and victimhood indoctrination, the fierce, demanding, no-excuses doctrine of Jaime Escalante will be sorely missed and never forgotten. R.I.P.
Was on a web-site looking at ordering a coffee maker. They have information on Canadian Orders: Anything shipped to Canada is subject to additional fees. There is a 9% rate for the main item and a rate for accesories to the coffee maker at 5%. Then there is also a Federal Goods and Services tax (GST) and Provincial Sales tax (PST), depending on location. Many people including Charles Kruthammer are saying we will have these value added taxes very soon under the new Obama regime.
Those taxes are not VAT, oh no, not by far. The true genius evil of VAT is that it is added to every step of the manufacturing-shipping-POS.
They are moving to HST – “Harmonized Sales Tax”, a combined fed/state tax rate.
The tax man’s hand has a far wider reach than most states as well — you pay tax on goods AND services — lawyer’s fees, the call-out from the plumber to your house, etc. There’s also “luxury” taxes on SUVs.
But with VAT it will be much, much worse.
So far, people have been pretty successful about pushing back on a European style VAT.
Wizbang has a decent article with a graphic that shows just how Gawd-awful a VAT is:
http://tinyurl.com/yzjn55x
Politicians love VAT’s- a cut every step of the way, mostly hidden from consumers.
The VAT is double taxation doubled and then doubled and then doubled again. It is double taxation on steroids.
And when all that happens, we’ll all just stop buying. And thud…there go a couple million more jobs per month…but that’s the plan, isn’t it.
In Ireland, the environMENTALists (their word, which takes the fun out of it somewhat) are disappointed that the O is claiming support for off shore drilling. I like to ask them how he’s different (and better) than Palin. Gets more fun with time.
At this point, I don’t even care if he’s faking. The look of devastation or the talk of “but of COURSE he’s lying to appease the rednecks!” (because a liar makes such a good POTUS) is worth it.
I want this guy to defeat Bruce Braley in November. Please share with your Eastern Iowa Friends!

Benishek also has a money bomb today.
Like others upthread, Dear Leader’s sudden (surprise, surprise, surprise!!!) move on off shore drilling is completely transparent. But certainly NOT the way he wanted. Like everything he does, pure pandering and political brinksmanship.
From Fox News, via FReeRepublic, Barky will sign an Executive Order next week (financial implicatin be damned) ‘capping’ carbon (but not Cap and Trade per se). A total malfeasance of the Excutive branch you might think??? Nope. He is doing ‘this’ under the guise of the Clean Air Act:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2483770/posts
And an informative article, from the Wall Street Journal, on HOW DISASTEROUS TO BOTH OUR ENERGEY INDEPENDANCE AND PRECARIOUS ECONOMY Barky’s sudden ‘rap’ of “drill, baby, drill…”:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704784904575112144130306052.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_AboveLEFTTop
The WSJ article also delves into the Federal take over of energy laden lands in the west, and also points out the blatant LIE of Dear Leader’s also very ‘sudden’ support of Nuclear Power (about a month ago).
And one more little thing (well…Carla is tiny).
Dave Barry? Mark Steyn? Ann Coulter? Forget about them…Today’s true, new COMEDIC SENSATION is a Robin Givhan of the Washington Post??? Did Givhan write a scathing report on BarkyCare? Or a snarky bit on Immigration? Nopers!!! Givhan, in today’s WaPo goes on and on (and on somemore) about the Fashion Icon(tm) of the US vs. some skinny french beyotch.
For the sake of your computer screens and keyboards, safely place all drink containers an arms lenght away. You have been warned:

We trully are in the end times.
Oh to have a screen cap of the comments!!!
As we fall further into the financial crash abyss (caused by her husband)…all the Fashion Icon(tm) stories will, no doubt, lift our spirits…like a Boob Belt.
This is ridiculously long and is probably going to get caught in the filter, I know it. I’m sorry, but I just had to do this. It’s okay if you don’t post it or reply.
I’ve been chickening out on reading the Pope Posts because I’m pretty sure I’m not going to like what I see, and I’m afraid it would taint the whole Hillbuzz experience. Self-censoring in a “don’t like it, don’t read it” kind of way, and go “la, la, la” on my merry way.
But seeing even the headlines filled me with such… sorrow. I dunno, I know you guys aren’t headed back to the Church anytime soon, I know the other reasons you’ve given here for that decision and I go back and forth between respecting you for not being Ted Kennedy-sized hypocrites and being sad about it because if every Catholic who failed to believe in and / or follow every single teaching of the Church did the same thing there wouldn’t be any of us left (including me – C&E Catholic here, haven’t been to confession in years b/c the face to face thing creeps me out).
We all fail, but that’s kind of the point of Christianity – God knows it but loves us so much he sent his only Son to suffer the consequences of our fail for us. Fail is expected and already forgiven – all we have to do is accept it, and keep trying.
Sorry, I’m all over the place here. So, I skipped the post because I was pretty sure what it was going to be about, and it made me sad because what’s happening in the Church right now has a lot in common with what’s happening in the world right now – it’s part of same the war the Progressives are waging against humanity in the secular sphere – and I was sad you guys aren’t making that connection. You guys know the kind of people they target, you know their tactics, you’ve been wise to it in politics for a few years now so I guess I was kind of surprised and disappointed you didn’t see the current attacks on Pope Benedict as more of the same.
It’s text book, the way they are taking a man who has done more to bring those responsible for these terrible crimes to account than anyone else in the Church and smearing him as being part of the cover-up with blatant, easily refuted lies. Why? Because he’s correctly identified one of the causes – the failure of the Church to fully enforce it’s own laws – and is working to fix it. Progressives are the ones who have been working to undermine those laws all along – it’s their war against Church discipline that contributed to both the crimes and the cover ups. They can’t admit that of course, so they go all Alinsky on the messenger and try to sell us on the idea that even more Progressivism is the solution to the problem of too much Progressivism. I know you don’t like the guy, but you really cannot believe a word being printed about this scandal in the MSM, anymore than you can believe a word they say about Obama or Sarah Palin. I mean, that Hitchens guy thinks Mother Teresa is evil – think maybe he has an agenda when reporting on this stuff?
So here are a couple of links to another point of view – and I fully admit that these folks are pretty hard-core Catholics so they have an agenda too, but they also have a point – and lots of links to additional coverage, if you want to explore that point even further.

So now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I’m gonna go back to lurking.
Dear Marie:
Don’t be afraid to read it. It cuts both ways. I read it and thought it was good, until others took wacks at Hillbuzz like i’ve never seen, and it all balanced out so that I learned much from the tour. I’m kinda of anti catholic because of all the things I see as hippocritical, (was never raised catholic anyway), but still learn from all exchanges, and from people like YOU.
From one Catholic to another : PLEASE consider going to Confession! The Body of Christ needs you! It’s your right to go behind a screen, and there’s probably a parish around you that makes it easy to go behind the screen. Churches around the nations are making it extra-easy to go — extended hours, the bit.

I lay this whole liberal hate agenda against the Catholic Church at the door of this white house. This is simply part of the Alinsky playbook to mute and suffocate your opposition. The church was against health care, stymied the process and supported the anti abortionists in restricting the bill’s language. Then presto the NYT comes out with these balantly false charges against Benedict that have now absolutely been proven false by the Times own documentation. This white house is behind this. Mark my words.
Not all confessions are face to face. Parishes in our area give the option of confession booth.
Google “Dr. Earl Bradley, Lewes DE”
A pediatrician charged with dozens of counts of sex crimes against children. He conducted his spree over the course of ten years.
Reports were filed against him with the authorites, but somehow never followed up.
And the local media is not screaming for their heads on a plate.
“The Cape Gazette reports that some of the attacks occurred in a “rear outbuilding. Police say Bradley was known to take patients to this building, without their parents, to give the child a treat.”
Of course not. He isn’t a juicy newsworthy target, has no political influence, doesn’t stand in the way of the liberal agenda, nor does he have the deep pockets of a church. Why should they bother?
Another great post at SP’s Facebook page:

Well here we go’ in my home state, Protesting Palin,,,, grrrrrrrr..”

I know all to well, that SEIU is behind this protest’ and you can bet they knew about Sarah coming week’s before this announcement,,,!
I don’t know if Sarah is still going to attend, however I need to get e-mail’s sent, and get the “local Tea party folk’s” out there to show support for Sarah…
Anyone here that maybe resides near or around CSU, Can you please send e-mail’s to your local Tea Party folk’s,,,! Thank’s….Cali~
For those of you who enjoyed the writings of the recovering Liberal from Berkeley (Robin) at American Thinker here’s a link to the latest. She nails Obama’s insanity to the hilt!

Wow. Never thought I’d feel sorry for the guy. Now I do.
That would explain his need to “heal the world” by mugging it.
speaking of mugging . . . I always feel better with Hillbuzz’s take on things than mine, so, I hope the boyz will discuss this at some point. It scares me:
http://www.jpfo.org/articles-assd/elections2010-open-letter-to-america.htm
I really suspect the election in 2010 is already taken care of because of the smugness of the Domocrats, like they know something we don’t when we say , “Wait until Novemeber.” No suprise here.
Which is why I wonder if we should just throw in the towel and put all our energies instead into the He-is-not-a-natural-born-citizen bandwagon. Most are not on it because we would rather take the less controversial road and place our trust in the system and in other Americans to vote these rummies out. The next six months may be the last time our system works to oust a fraud; after that, the coup is complete.
(I shock myself at how what I say would have been crazy conspiratorial babble just two years ago and now it is fact)
you do not even need the birth certificate because the man is not a natural born citizen by definition.
According to your constitution the person can only eligible if a natural born citizen and to be a natural born citizen it must be parents, not parent who are American citizens. This is the reason that Bobby Jindal cannot attempt to be President. In Jindal’s case he was born in the USA but his parents were not USA citizens at the time….
Wow have you Hillbuzz guys seen the article at Big Government? I hope no one gets offended but wow, what truth!
ObamaCare: A Fairy Tale – or How the Gay Community Lost Its Magic Powerby Charles Winecoff
The Buzz from Tallahassee
1. Everyone is talking about Rubio/Crist in the wake of Sunday’s debate. Mostly how badly Crist lost. It was more than that. The Lassie’s were displeased with the question that Chris Wallace asked of Rubio about the tea party movement. A women from “The Villages”, an entire city north of Florida that is a gigantic retirement community for snow birds, it is so big it is it’s own city and as we all know those senior citizens vote, wrote in an asked about Marco being “vetted” by the Tea Party. What Chris failed to mention is that she is a member of the Tea Party “party” meaning the political organization trumped up be democrats here in Florida to steal votes away from the republicans. Most, if not all, of the local tea party groups, 912groups and grassroots groups have denounced the tea party as divisive. The Tea Party has their own candidate they are running for Senate that theyBOB SMITH are going to have on the ballot in November. It is the DCCC desperate attempt at dividing republicans and unfortunately people are falling for it. We have said it here before and will say it again, we saw Marco out for hours shaking hands and speaking to thousands and tea parties all over the state LAST SPRING AND SUMMER. He has been attending these events for over a year. He has been a huge support to the community and his campaign’s message has reached and inspired so many because of the time and effort he has put into the grassroots movement. We wish the Chris made a distinction that the “tea party” was actually its own party with its own agenda. Rubio came out swinging and good for him. He needed to deliver this final blow before a national audience to get more endorsements and money from outside of Florida and even to switch the really entrenched big donors over to him. His performance was outstanding. If there is a chance that JEB Bush will come out before the primary, Rubio certainly gave the sense of foregone conclusion that JEB would need. But don’t count on an endorsement for at least a week or two because….
2. Right now there is a big political storm over Merit Pay for Teachers currently in the Legislature. The Senate Bill, SB6, passed last week. Of course the teachers union is up in arms. JEB’s Foundation “Foundation for Florida’s Future” recently released this http://www.foundationforfloridasfuture.org/PressReleases/2010/The_Facts_on_Floridas_Race_to_Reward_Teachers.aspx to combat the misinformation going on. Since Florida has a constitutional balanced budget amendment we are competing for “race to the top” stimulus money for education. But because our teachers unions were so upset over the idea of merit pay, only a handful (8%) of them backed Florida’s attempt to apply for the 600 million dollar grant. It is evident that here in Florida the teachers unions are playing politics with our children. In the state’s that got rewarded the money, Delaware and Tennessee they had 100% and 93%, respectfully, of support from their unions. Literally the teachers are complaining about being shut out of the process. They are turning their noses up at 600 million? That just means more cuts our budget has to make. Parents are not happy. The house is taking up the bill and we know there will be a lot more discussion on this issue in the last 30 days of session.
3. The CD2 district that Tallahassee is one of the two “anchor” cities of is abuzz following Boyd’s flip-flop healthcare vote and the anti-incumbent sentiment is going strong. In the aftermath of the healthcare vote Boyd’s democrat primary challenger and minority leader in the Florida house, progressive democrat Al Lawson claimed a victory in getting Boyd to vote the right way on healthcare reform. We think that Lawson being in the primary is the way for the DCCC and Pelosi to keep Boyd under their thumb. But there is a whirlwind of speculation over whether Allen Boyd is going to run in November or not. Many say he has a tough primary in Lawson, we feel he might, the democrats in Tallahassee are of the progressive nature and Lawson is an African American, a huge base for the democrat party in this area. However what many fail to realize is that much of the democrat party in the outlaying areas of CD 2 is southern democrats who feel their party, and boyd, has left them and who also delivered CD2 is McCain/Palin in 08. Now we know that could be partially because we have huge military instillations in Panama City, and Destin areas that were VERY supportive of McCain. But they aren’t populous enough to flip the whole district. The numbers just aren’t there. So we believe that the southern democrats are starting to tip our way. Lawson winning the primary is the surest way to get a republican victory (although there may be snags in that theory, and we will get to that in a moment) because the southern democrats will not vote for a progressive African American man. They didn’t for Obama and they won’t for Lawson. It has been rumored for months that Lawson, whose tenure is up in the Florida Senate because of term limits, is just running to get an appointment or job offer. However since the rationing bill vote, now rumors abound that Boyd may be the one getting the deal. With offers at the department of Ag at the national or state level. Here is what we do know: Boyd is going through a divorce after a multi-year affair with a staffer woman half his age. His son is facing federal charges for trafficking illegals and drugs at the Mexican boarder, and he has no credibility left as a “blue dog” conservative when he voted for bailouts, cap and tax and the rationing bill. The Democrats are unhappy he isn’t lock step with Obama and Pelosi and in the end they have pushed him to be, he votes with Pelosi over 90% of the time. The republicans know he is not the conservative he claims to be and are over him ignoring their voices. We have heard rumors of an even bigger scandal brewing but we aren’t exactly sure what it is. We do know that a republican hasn’t held the seat since reconstruction and that the DCCC really doesn’t want the flip of our district to be a headline on election night.
4. With Sarah announcing that she will be targeting CD2 with her Pac the Republican Primary field is practically clawing over each other to look the most legitimate. The problem is… not one of them are all that exciting. We hate to be eeyores because we try each and every day to never be one. But none of them are rock stars and honestly with the numbers in the district, we need a rockstar, this race is still an uphill battle. The two top republican Candidates are Steve Southerland from Panama City and Eddie Hendry from Tallahassee. We aren’t overly impressed with either of them, we feel like Eddie has a better chance of winning the general with his base of southern democrat and republican support but Steve seems to be getting all the blue blazers lined up behind him. We really want to defeat Boyd and are “all in” against him, but we are having a hard time getting excited over our candidate choices. The blue blazers have chosen to sit this round out in CD2 having exclaimed this seat unwinnable and is waiting for redistricting from the republican controlled Florida legislature to help them in 2012. They basically have claimed it unwinnable because the NRCC and the RPOF have literally no money to spend on that race. We will save the rest of our blue blazer rant for another post.
5. To make matters worse, we have a “Mr whiged-out” who first filed to run as a whig party candidate and now has switched to independent who is mucking things up rather royally for our chances to get a democrat out of CD2. His band of follows are brainwashed as they are naïve to not only the political realities of the situation but also what the damage this candidate can actually do. Our local conservative radio talk show host has even tried to do some reasoning with them. He didn’t get through. So he tried putting a poll up on his website to show an accurate portrayal of who the conservatives in this district are supporting. Well they stuffed the ballot box, trolled for votes all weekend, and than claimed a victory with a blog post about “not splitting the vote”. The local show host even said the whole point of the exercise was ruined by the ballot stuffing.
That’s what going on here in Tallahassee. More to come….

I had a friend over for a play date yesterday. Surrounded by screaming toddlers, she asked me what I thought of “what is going on with Obama” … For some reason, I’d assumed this particular friend was liberal in her thinking … something about her … well, she is in social service work and her husband is a house painter (small income + a gov employee). I answered vaguely and she let loose with a spew of anger at the Overlord and his demon cloud of cronies. This is a woman who “should” support what is going on but does NOT. In general, I have been very pleased to see the masses hold up the ideals in our constitution even though they may not be as well off as I happen to be (so, in theory have more to gain and less to lose in a socialism type situation). These good Americans see our freedom and opportunities as more valuable than whatever “free stuff” might come their way from thieves in office. I APPLAUD THEM!!!!!
What in the world is Hillary doing about Isreal — I am not understanding why she has flipped so much from when she was a Senator. I understand that she has to work for her boss’ wishes but I am also fearful about what seems to be a dismantling of Isreal. Anyone have some insights to ease my fear of what may happen to Isreal? I found the following on The Hill website.
I know Dick Morris is biased on Hillary but the information in here is worth a look. Should Hillary start making an exit plan if she intends to run in 2012. . .some of my Jewish friends are losing some faith in HRC.
http://thehill.com/opinion/columnists/dick-morris/89883-obama-vs-israeli-regime
Yes, this is definitely a problem. I have a good friend in Israel, and they are feeling duped by the entire administration.
Hillary takes orders from Obama now. It is that simple.
Hillary will leave her position within six months. Things aren’t so pleasant as they have been made out to be.
A friend of mine who is a staunch Democrap supporter (yes, I still have one or two friends of that political nature) gushed this morning how wonderful the care was that her 80-year old husband received after some pretty serious surgery. I bit my tongue, I wanted to say that with the death care thing that just went through she was lucky it got done now rather than later when that wonderful care will no longer be available. In fact she’ll more than likely have to go hunting for a surgeon. Also since her hubby is in his eighties I doubt that Zero will allow for this type of expensive surgery for his age group. Anyway I just had to get this off my chest.
You should have said it to her anyway, with love and compassion of course. One should never pass up the opportunity to educate those who just don’t get it. Maybe she just hasn’t been lucky enough to be exposed to the truth yet, like so many of us have.
CatieR’s right. You should’ve said something.
Don’t even have to mention death panels. Just openly wondering about the impending doctor shortage would be enough.
And the $500 billion cut to Medicare.
In case you missed it…
http://hotair.com/archives/2010/03/30/cms-suspends-doctor-reimbursement-cuts-used-to-calculate-obamacare/
So the fig leaf of obamacare being a deficit reducer has been lifted and everyone can see that it’s plainly going to increase the deficit! Shocking! /sarcasm
Michellle Bachman is being asked by a contributor to stand up and find out about the Obama citizenship issue or else no more contributions.

Big fight going on in Michigan between the governess Jennifer Granholm, and Mike Cox the attorney general.. She says ” I support Obamacare”… we already know that Jen.
Today is the fifth anniversary of the death of Terri Schiavo.
I did not know this, but the FL Attorney General during the last years of her life was none other than the Orange One himself, Charlie Crist.
Poor Charlie — no matter what he tries to say about his involvement (or lack thereof) in the case, someone’s pointing out… inconsistencies, shall we say, in his story.
if he was quiet on this issue, and caused for the “plug to be pulled on ms schiavo” then he has no humanity!
yes I knew that information. Crist is somehow involved with Michael Schiavo – a former employer?
the piece is kinda taking the side of the murdering adulterous husband in what it is saying.
Amazing because the law that was passed in Congress was very much a bi-partisan effort, in both houses.
As I remember the case, Crist said absolutely nothing. He also blocked any proper investigation into what really happened when Teri collapsed. There was certainly evidence that she was perhaps the victim of a specific stranglehold that leaves no traces on the skin. (It is called the policeman’s hold and there was a case in Brisbane Australia of a young man who suffered similar injuries to Teri)
My view here is that Crist was the one that stood in the way of a proper investigation into the crime that was committed.
I am totally unimpressed with the Florida politicians for passing into law a bill that claimed that a feeding tube is life-support: it is not the case.
On top of that in that case Teri was not only denied her human rights, but the scumbag husband refused to allow her to have any form of therapy. The piece of garbage that was her husband wanted money, and when he was not awarded enough money as a result of a bogus case against a doctor who had done nothing wrong in relation to Teri, he then decided that she had to die…..
Crist as AG should have been investigating the case, looking at the evidence and the details that were available, including the repeated attempts by the piece of excreta who was married to Teri to murder her… there were several attempts to murder her after the first failed attempt.
You are absolutely full of shit.
Your conclusions are based on false information. Ms. Schiavo was undergoing fertility treatments, trying to give her parents a grandchild. Perhaps that explains why they ignored her emaciated condition, as her bulimia wasted away her body. (Reportedly, she had been chubby as a girl.) She had just visited her fertility doctor, who discovered that her potassium levels were virtual nil. He should have insisted on immediate hospitalization. Records indicate, he did not. She suffered the near-fatal heart attack that brought on her vegetative state, shortly after leaving his office. Her parents expressed no criticism for their son-in-law’s conduct toward their daughter at any time up to his insistence that, before her heart attack, she had expressed her wish not to be kept alive under the circumstances she now experienced. In FL, when a person has no living will or medical proxy, probate law authorizes the person’s next of kin to make these life care decisions. Ms. Schiavo’s husband was her next of kin. Her parents, having failed to obtain medical care for their visibly unhealthy daughter before her heart attack or to ask her husband to obtain such care; having failed to persuade her to file requisite legal documents like a living will or medical proxy which would have obviated the need for her husband to be put in this untenable position to decide her fate; and having failed to find any fault with the decisions of their son-in-law as to her care for the years she was in this vegetative state before he insisted, finally, her wishes had to be carried out, now fought to defy FL probate law, as enacted by the voters of FL through their government representatives and signed into law by their governor. (Ms. Schiavo’s parents followed their daughter and her husband from NJ to FL. I wonder whether they had weighed in on the passage of this legislation, or on amending it?)
Here is the report of the Guardian ad Litem assigned by the FL court to recommend the best interests of Ms. Schiavo:
# Guardian ad Litem’s Report on Terri Schiavo — Prepared by Jay Wolfson, DrPH, JD, (Dec. 1, 2003). Schiavo’s guardian ad litem concluded:
“…that the trier of fact and the evidence that served as the basis for the decisions regarding Theresa Schiavo were firmly grounded within Florida statutory and case law, which clearly and unequivocally provide for the removal of artificial nutrition in cases of persistent vegetative states, where there is no advance directive, through substituted/proxy judgment of the guardian and/or the court as guardian, and with the use of evidence regarding the medical condition and the intent of the parties that was deemed, by the trier of fact to be clear and convincing.”

By the way, I taught a class on this case because it demonstrated the sinister opportunistic manipulation of the bedrock principle of governmental separation of powers.
Just had to turn off a local liberal radio guy talking about it. The “life support” “heroic measure” denied Terry Schiavo? Food. She was starved to death over the course of 2 weeks. By those definitions, we are all on life support, and would be “allowed to die” without it.
The radio host was doing his very best to tie it all in with the wisdom Obama’s “health care” plan, with more smooth intellectual and just-plain-old dishonesty than I could stomach. He got a caller who actually dared to disagree, and the radio host immediately called him a birther, along with other liberal name-calling and obfuscation completely unrelated to the topic or anything the caller had said! SO TYPICAL. (The caller pointed out that, because starvation actively kills someone –it’s not just withdrawing life support– the way patients die this way in long drawn-out fashion wouldn’t even be tolerated for death row inmates. A lethal injection would be more humane. The radio host said that, no, doctors aren’t allowed to kill anybody. They can just withdraw “medicine.” Yes. Perfect sense.) Ugh.
feeding through the PEG tube is not giving medicine.
That radio host is a Richard Cranium (but it is a really small one – if you get my meaning)
Hi everyone!
Saw two awesome bumper stickers in Traverse City, MI today:
“Sorry Yet?
NOBAMA”
and…
“President Barack Hussein Obama
Four of the scariest words in the English language”
Thought they were funny.
I love TC. I was just trying to figure out how we could get up there this summer…Actually our even more favorite spot is Glen Arbor.
Glen Arbor is my favorite spot in Michigan. Just stunningly beautiful.
I’m glad you shared those….but I don’t think they’re one bit funny. Our lives are on the line here, nationally and personally. (Not knocking you!!….just a little short on humor where the thug is concerned)
I think the point was to let us know that people around TC, MI are not happy about Obama. We were to observe what’s going around town and that’s what’s going around. Funny or not. Believe me, I’m actually sacared, but I do need to get thru the day.
Just saw this on Facebook. Since, we all KNOW that the left was never so mean and using violent rhetoric or Hitler comparisons back in the “old days”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6b1VOAATNk
one picture worth a 1000 words..oh for the good old days when Bush was prez, even tho i disagreed with him on some things:
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/03/barack-obama-george-w-bush-us-troops.html
Amazing that that ran in the LA Times
Is there any Congress critter anymore over the top and leaning toward crazy than Alan Grayson? Can we get him OUT!!! This is pathetic. He’s debating a college kid and mocking and demeaning constituents who just don’t believe the way he does. The contempt and disdain in his voice is so beneath how a Congressman should behave – he should be reprimanded and censured!

While Orlando maybe 250 miles south of Tallahassee we can give you a few tidbits of information about grayson, how he got to be, and how we can get him out.
The most important thing to know… that district was red for 30 years. It is still red to purple. It is not blue. So, we need to turn out the republican vote. Like Tom Feeny in the seat now currently held by flip flop rationing voter Kosmas (who is being targeted by SARAHPAC just like Boyd up here) the former congressman, Ric Keller, was caught up in a lot of scandal. We could go back even further to say that when long time congressman from FL-8 Bill McCollum (current florida attorney general who hass filed suit against the rationing bill, current candidate for Governor to replace Chuckles McOrange, and chair of the congressional hearings on Pres. Clinton) retired from his seat to run for in a failed senate bid in 2000 (we are now stuck with Bill Nelson instead) in that vaccum there was a great candidate in Bill Sublette that the blue blazers turned against and he lost a primary runoff despite winning the initial primary battle just not by a margin of 50%. Ric Keller got in and lost the seat because of his scandalous affair with a staffer and backroom dealings. So now we have grayson. However that seat is looking dim, while there are some great republican candidates in that race, there are also tea party candidates in there to muck things up. This is certainly a seat where we need everyone to get together to work against him and somehow the tea party party of florida is making sure that won’t happen.
It is no surprise that known democrats are behind the formation of this party.
Don’t get the Lassie’s wrong, we have attended tea party rallies for over a year. But we wonder were the common sense is….
Call for Tea Party crashers:

Gun freaks, homophobes, conspiracy types, Ron Paul supporters?
LMFAO
I think that we should wear rainbow tshirts to the next tea party, what say you?
I think that I’ll wear one, my granny glasses and start knitting. I should look very threatening….oooooooooooooooo…LOL
What if they threw a revolution, and no one cared?

I LOVE IT!
Can’t wait for her speech in New Orleans … why do I have the feeling that there’s not going to be much left of Obama once she’s through with him.
Oh, pardon me. I must be inciting violence. Report me immediately to the DNC police.
Is Obama a Muslim?
Watch this.

Did anyone see this? This was probably meant to be a gotcha by Dave Letterman, but this woman handled the interview beautifully. She didn’t stick it to him in a rude way. She was calm, sweet, informed and just, brilliant.

That was good! I would never be able to do that! I would either clam up or get attitudinal.

I cannot wait to read this!!
JD Hayworth is almost at the $1M dollar mark, just short $70k as of 2 minutes ago!
YAY!
Obama has been a wonderful civics teacher.
During the election, we learned how all the states determined their delegates caucus/open primary/closed primary. Little Guam and its two delegates became important. Last year and Q1 of this year we learned all the sausage making that goes into creating a law (Schoolhouse Rock was a leetle off). Now we’re learning about the commerce clause and the 10th amendment.
He may suck as a constitutional scholar, but we’ve learned a lot about civics.
Oh yeah: Irony – remember Sarah Silverman’s great schlep? I wonder how the grandparents feel now.
Go over to Atlas Shrugs and read this about ‘our’ fradulent President.
‘The smartest genius President evah is nothing more than a carboard cutout. A fraud. Doesn’t exist. We don’t even know how he did in school because to this day his transcripts are sealed. Turns out now that when he was an instructor at the Chicago, his colleagues who were actual Professors didn’t like him and didn’t want him. Obama’s position was obtained through political channels.’

This is alarming, bizarre, and heartbreaking
While visiting the State Department’s official website, curious to see if Hillary or Obama would post a Good Friday/Passover message to the Jewish community, as he is so fond of recognizing other foreign national holidays, I clicked onto the “Countries & Regions” tab at the top, a list of search options drop down, the first is the “A-Z List of Countries and Regions.” I clicked on it, then clicked ‘I’ for Israel. It took a while, then came the headline:
“We’re sorry. That page can’t be found and may have moved” IN BOLD RED LETTERS.
So, I then clicked on random countries, friends & enemies of the US — no such problem with any of them. Country information, map and any related state department news/press all available.
Then I manually typed in Israel in the ‘search the site’ box — and waited and waited, and then a page popped up that was an overlay of other pages. It was basically unreadable. (Thanks to Merri)
But the State Department’s sire for the Fakestinians in Jerusalem is working just fine, thankyouverymuch: US State Department: Jerusalem for Islam UPDATED: It’s “the de-facto “embassy” to the Palestinians in the West bank and Gaza.
This article is posted at Altas Shrugged for today’s date.
I’m shaking my head over the blatant MSM attempts to demonize the Pope, as usual.
How else can you explain this headline from MSNBC?
“Pope Describes Touching Boys: I Went Too Far.”
From the Catholic League:
NBC apologized today for an article on MSNBC’s website entitled, “Pope Describes Touching Boys: I Went Too Far.” The article that readers accessed after clicking on it actually had nothing to do with the pope.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue accepted the apology today:
NBC says the attributed quote was erroneous and they have corrected the error. An apology was also extended. The apology is accepted. We hope that whoever was responsible for this outrageous post is questioned about it and that appropriate measures are taken. We look forward to hearing the outcome.
