Good morning, Bridget and all of the fabulous HillBuzzers! Today my little girl is at her last day of Kindergarten, they grow up so fast! I've been accepted to write about local politics at Examiner.com, I shall be known as the Dutchess County Conservative Examiner!
Obama picked up an endorsement for a second term – from Russia:
Russia Hearts American Surrender, Hopes for Obama Re-Election http://zillablog.marezilla.com/2011/06/russia-hea…
because they love the way he bends over for them and betrays our allies and our country, and also, because he's a fricken commie. Yeah, I said it.
Perpetually offended muslims are now (crazily) whining that pig DNA is in Ketchup & hot sauce (I always thought the main ingredient ketchup was tomatoes and for hot sauce, peppers – never heard pf them using pork): http://infidelsarecool.com/2011/06/muslims-whine-…
Gosh they are as ignorant as they are backwards and homicidal.
And why in the hell are our condiment companies freaking "certified halal" anyway? I think it's high time that companies compete to be "certified haram" and we'll promote the hell out of them. Enough with the food jihad already! Geez!
And yet another Democrat is in trouble for being corrupt, with yet another sex scandal. But since it's the Dems, expect nothing to come of it, only Republicans lose their jobs over scandals: http://rhymeswithright.mu.nu/archives/317887.php
Well that's it for me for now, I've got to go and work on my debut article for Examiner.com!
Have a great day!
Congrats on the Examiner job!
Hailing from the formerly Golden State of California, I'm enjoying the spectacle of our corrupt, entrenched legislature trying to please their greedy constituencies and balance the state budget — FAIL. Jerry Brown vetoed their budget — he can do that, because he's Democrat. If he were a Republican you'd hear about his "obstructionist" and "ham-handed" defiance of the people's will in national news.
Anyway, Proposition 25, enacted by California voters over the heads of the legislature last year, docks the legislators' pay for every day their budget is late! HAHAHAHA! They're being docked every day since June 15!
New York is circling the drain with California. I hoping our new Republican majority state senate can help change that, but the dems hold the assembly so it's not going to be easy. Our new gov. is a long time prog, but he appears to recognize that we won't keep him around if he gives us more of the same. I think it's awesome that your useless politicians are losing pay over their ineptitude, we should implement something like that on a federal level.
Congratulations Zilla! That's awesome…and well deserved. Please post the link to your debut article when it's up. I really look forward to reading it.
Thank you, Bridget, I will! I'm feeling pretty spiffy right now, I called one of my state senators to speak with him about the article I'm working on and left a voicemail, I was super surprised when he personally called me back! But my 4 year old was screaming & the senator got called back into session so I'm going to try to catch up with him later to see if I can get a quote, his assistant even gave me his cell #, how cool is that?
serves them right lol
Glenn Beck said that he think Hillary will swoop in in 2012 to "save the day", this should make have 2nd thoughts.. http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/06/clinton_un…
Great speech. I particularly like how he appeals to even Democrats in his speech, validating that even they must be disappointed in Carter.

Jennifer Rubin points out that the meeja is constantly trying to push Jon Huntsman as the GOP candidate, and in the process is showing its complete ignorance of conservatism and conservative ideals:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/po…
Anyone who honestly thinks that Huntsman "will eat Bachmann’s lunch" is (1) not a conservative *and* (2) not only knows nothing about conservatism beyond the MSM pablum, but has no intellectual curiosity to go beyond that. (They're not necessarily the same thing – but the left is increasingly insular and closed minded, and it's just getting worse.)
I mean, sheeeeeesh…Jon Huntsman? Thinking that the GOP will let the other side pick their candidate again?
I mean no disrespect here, but your meeja is a joke.
They changed this:
"Over the last 15 months we've created over 2.1 million private sector jobs." (Laughter)
To this:
"Over the last 15 months we've created over 2.1 million private sector jobs." (Applause)

James Taranto slaps down E.J Dionne and Debbie Wasserman Schultz's moronic assertion that requiring voter I.D is, *sigh*, a return to Jim Crow and a way for the GOP to steal elections.
Yes, that's right. According to the left, not allowing them to steal elections now means that you're stealing the election themselves:

OMG, this is hysterical, Weird Al goes Gaga:

That was wonderful. Loved Madonna's participation.
Hm, trying again to embed video:

Nice job, Mut, great find & terrific post!
The Africa Trip
Quote:
The president is not going, but Mrs. Obama is being joined by her daughters, Malia and Sasha, as well as her mother, Marian Robinson, and a niece and nephew, Leslie and Avery Robinson. Her family will join her on most outings, probably exposing her daughters to more of the media spotlight than they're used to.
It was during her first solo trip outside the U.S., to Mexico in April 2010, that the first lady started an effort to encourage young people to become involved in their communities and countries and not shy away from trying to solve persistent global problems.
The youth population outside the U.S. is growing fast, with young people ages 15 to 24 making up 20 percent of the world's population.
"The fact is is that responsibility for meeting the defining challenges of our time will soon fall to all of you," Mrs. Obama told thousands of university students in Mexico City. "Soon, the world will be looking to your generation to make the discoveries and to build the industries that will fuel our prosperity and ensure our well-being for decades to come."
That message is likely to resonate in a place such as South Africa, where two of three residents are younger than 30, said Jennifer Cooke, an Africa scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank.
Botswana is a regular stop for U.S. officials. Well governed, it is considered one of Africa's best functioning democracies, Cooke said.
Many of the stops on Mrs. Obama's trip will highlight South Africa's past under apartheid, the system of white-minority rule. She'll also pay tribute to the legacy of Nelson Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison for his role in the anti-apartheid movement. He later became South Africa's first elected black president.
The size of Mrs. Obama's traveling party is sure to invite comparisons to her vacation last August in Spain with Sasha and friends. The five-day trip to Spain's Costa del Sol stoked a bit of a firestorm about the wisdom of taking a glamorous trip with such economic hurt at home and raised speculation about who was paying the bill.
Attempting to head off similar criticism this time, the White House said Mrs. Obama is allowed to bring guests with her on the plane because she's on official U.S. business, as the president is allowed on his official trips. All other costs regarding her family are to be paid for privately.

Several questions come to mind. First is what the heck is she doing conducting "official U.S. business?" She is not a member of the cabinet. She holds no elected office. She is not connected to the government in any way, other than being married to the president.
I can understand a representative of the the U.S. government being allowed to have a spouse or significant other along on a trip. That is reasonable. But that brings up the second question – what is the limit? And how far can an official branch out? Second cousins? And how can bringing five others be justified? This sounds a whole lot more like a family vacation than any kind of trip on 'official U.S. Business.'
And, the third question is who is the private party in All other costs regarding her family are to be paid for privately. The Obamas themselves? If not, then we need to follow the money and see who is trying to buy influence.

As with all else, the LSM got this one wrong too. Reports of the Palin bus tour's demise are greatly exaggerated. She's been called for jury duty!
http://dailycaller.com/2011/06/22/private-emails-…
Excerpts:
“New emails obtained by The Daily Caller contradict claims by the Obama administration that the Treasury Department would avoid “intervening in the day-to-day management” of General Motors post-auto bailout.
These messages reveal that Treasury officials were involved in decision-making that led to more than 20,000 non-union workers losing their pensions.”
