We need to be careful about the whole “Valerie Jarrett honestly thought a uniformed general was her waiter” story. Yeah, it’s funny, but it doesn’t add up:

The same Valerie Jarrett who told an audience that PAID to see her speak that she had to leave for an “emergency” at the WH and then when participants of the speech that never happened went to a swanky restaurant…there she sat sipping her wine? Yeah…it adds up. She is an elitist snob and has no business in the white house.

I agree Bev, she is scumsucking slumlord, too. She was drooling over the prospect of the Chicago Olympic Committee paying her for her run down slums. Glad Chicago lost. I despise, depise persons that make their fortunes on the backs of poor people.

With the repeal movement gaining steam I was curious where Dem Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia stood on this. As you will recall he campaigned on his opposition to Obamacare. (Remember the violent imagery target shooting ad?)

Since he is a Dems it is hard to believe anything he says. I visited his website and, as expected, not word about it either way. Even though I am not a constituent I sent a message to remind him of his position and now is the time to follow through with action. West Virginians if any of you are reading this, this is the time to hold his feet to the fire. Don’t let him weasel out of this one!

Don Surber has a blog that features West Virginia happenings –I assume he is from WV–I read some where a quote from Durbin saying his peeps were all against repeal, and that included Manchin.

I read that Manchin will vote against repeal. He wants to improve the bill, not repeal it.

Maybe a phone call is in order, to make your voices heard on the matter.

The word ‘Palingenesis’ came up in a thread on Conservatives4Palin. I looked it up and this is what I found – interesting indeed!

    Sarah Palin is Palingenesis personified.

“Philosophy and Theology The word palingenesis or rather palingenesia may be traced back to the Stoics, who used the term for the continual re-creation of the universe by the Demiurgus (Creator) after its absorption into himself. Similarly Philo spoke of Noah and his sons as leaders of a renovation or rebirth of the earth, Plutarch of the transmigration of souls, and Cicero of his own return from exile.

In philosophy it denotes in its broadest sense the theory (e.g. of the Pythagoreans) that the human soul does not die with the body but is born again in new incarnations. It is thus the equivalent of metempsychosis. The term has a narrower and more specific use in the system of Schopenhauer, who applied it to his doctrine that the will does not die but manifests itself afresh in new individuals. He thus repudiates the primitive metempsychosis doctrine which maintains the reincarnation of the particular soul.

Robert Burton in the Anatomy of Melancholy (1628) writes, “The Pythagoreans defend metempsychosis and palingenesia, that souls go from one body to another.”

In the Gospel of Matthew[1] Jesus is quoted in Greek (although his historical utterance would most likely have been in Aramaic) using the word “παλιγγενεσια” (“palingenesia”) to describe the Last Judgment foreshadowing the event of the regeneration of a new world. Palingenesia is thus as much the result of, or reason for the Last Judgement as it is directly the Judgement itself.”

I think this is great. Most simply, it means “partial or complete regeneration”, isn’t that what we want, a complete regeneration of the WH?

Also, Palin means “again”. My first thought was “Reagan:Palin” “Reagan, again.”

The picture is Sarah Palin’s eyes, and above it it says POLAR EYES 2012.

Romney is running. He’s putting it out there in a sickeningly cloying way. Does his wife appreciate him using her as a human shield?

“My wife thinks I should run,” he declared tonight in an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan.

“She’s absolutely committed. She’s saying, ‘You’ve got to run, you’ve got to have somebody who understands the world of the economy, small business, who can create jobs.’

“She’s convinced I’ve got to run. But I have to look more broadly and say, ‘Alright, Do I have a team necessary to do this?’”

Uh huh. This is for the strong families and/or strong women vote. And he pretends he doesn’t already have a team!

House Dems are “targeting” 19 vulnerable Republicans:

It’s in our local paper too, as it applies to my newly elected congressman, Jon Runyan. We worked hard to drag him across the finish line with the leftist D’s actually throwing in a ringer “tea-party” candidate to take votes away from him. He only won by 6,000 votes. They are after him now and have been running ads against him…ALREADY!! I believe they want to ramp up the troops for 2012 early and often so they can “polarize” the entire election so the Utopian can win. He doesn’t care who he takes down with him. In my local paper the headline is: “Dems target rookie GOP Rep. Runyan” I had hoped we would be able to concentrate on other races but it looks like we’re going to have to spend a lot of money and energy right down the street.

“The latest issue began Sunday at a candidate forum at Trinity United Church of Christ after Watkins criticized Braun as being “missing in action” on Chicago issues since losing her bid for re-election to the U.S. Senate in 1998.

“Patricia, the reason you didn’t know where I was for the last 20 years is because you were strung out on crack,” Braun said. “I was not strung out on crack. I don’t have a record.”

OK, IMHO, the Palin Campaign is ON, regardless of the officialness of it all. My suggestion, if you are a Palin supporter, as most of us are here, follow the example of that fine Ma and Pa restaurant. Post your poster, wear your t-shirt, affix your bumber sticker.

People are ready and excited to vote for her, and I think those numbers are increasing. We all need to hit the ground running. Game on!

Kevin . . . love your idea of teams. Since you are now accepting graphics, you need to protect yourself legally by adding terms of use and a privacy statements to your site. Here are samples from Starbucks:

Yippee ki yay, liberals! It’s Sarah Palin Month on Telegraph Blogs!
James Delingpole, Daily Telegraph, February 1st, 2011

Did any of you catch that brilliant Charlie Brooker demolition of Sarah Palin on Channel 4’s zappy, new, heavily promoted topical comedy/politics show 10 o’clock Live the other night?

For those who missed it, let me tell you what his insights were:

    Sarah Palin is dumb.
    Sarah Palin likes guns.
Sarah Palin is right-wing and American.
But for all that, she’s really quite attractive.

You’ve no idea what paroxysms of consensual, right-on ecstasy these observations induced in the audience. That’s because Sarah Palin is to leftie comedy in this Teens decade what Margaret Thatcher was to leftie comedy in the Eighties: a target so unimpeachably politically correct you don’t even have to define what it is you dislike about. The very name is enough.

So they’re showing pictures of Egyptians riding around on CAMELS protesting. Yeah…as the liberal media talks about how civilized and modern Egypt is…frankly, you cannot tell the difference between protestors in the 70s and protestors today. Side by side…it’s the same. Except we had peace for 30 years. People who do not remember what it was like BEFORE Mubarak are going to “shocked” and “surprised” what it is like WITHOUT peace in Egypt.

Right now our focus should be on Israel. If Obama throws Israel under the bus do not think for one second the Jewish people will hop on planes and run like dogs like the others. Israel is a nuclear power and they have the second strongest (and smartest) military in the world. They will not hand over Israel.

Just a few years ago people were saying the snow was disappearing…now we’re having roaving black outs because TOMORROW the weather is supposed to be real cold?? COME ON!!! And I just saw this huge alert about the Typhoon in Australia. Excuse me. I lived in the South Pacific for most of the 80s. We had super typhoons every single YEAR. In fact we had Typhoon Alert standby 8 months out of the year. Australia is huge. If a typhoon is coming…MOVE AWAY FROM THE OCEAN. I sat on an Island that was 4 miles wide typhoon after typhoon and we never even lost power. This is exactly the reason I turn the news off. It’s ridiculous.

          We have CYCLONE alerts.

TYPHOONS are in Japan, Vietnam and China and other regions of Asia.

          Ours are called CYCLONES.

The one that just hit the east coast between Townsville and Cairns which is Far North Queensland.

It was category 5 which is the same as Katrina.

It has now been downgraded to category 3 as it sweeps west.

We do not have typhoons which is something experienced in Asia.

We have CYCLONES. YES it is a very huge CYCLONE ALERT.

YASI was a category 5 cyclone. It hit the coast in the early hours of the morning. Mission Beach was hardest hit and there was more damage at Innisfail.

We have CYCLONE warnings and cyclones every year in the northern part of Australia. That is what happens in the tropics.

The last worst cyclone was Tracy that hit Darwin in the 1970s. However, cyclone Larry was devastating to Innisfail 5 years ago.

In 1989 I experienced cyclone AIVU. In fact I went outside and experienced the eye of the storm, which was completely still. That one hit in Ayr, 50 miles from Townsville.

There are more cyclones on the west coast. However there are no Typhoons or even Monsoons in Australia.

We’re having them because of the high demand for natural gas which is what’s powering the electrical plants. The natural gas is also heating homes and in pipelines going elsewhere in the nation.

I’m making a prediction. In the future….after Obama…we will talk about how the problems in Egypt were ignored. Starting with the troubles with Turkey..the flotilla ships to Israel. Code Pink and its involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood. We had socialist reps from the U.S. going over to Israel to protest (Cynthia McKinney was put in JAIL for it). This has largely been ignored. We are going to find out that Code Pink and these socialist groups protesting Israel had a major hand in the unrest in the Middle East and Obama has been meeting with these people for the past two years. Jodie Evans goes to the WH every single month. This will all come out in the wash and it is all going to blow up in Obama’s face. Israel is not going to back down and hand over their country. They will fight and it will be OBAMA’S blood that spills for it.

If any of you are looking for a little something constructive to do today, may I suggest reporting offensive Sarah Palin image results to Google?

Simply do a Google Image Search for “Sarah Palin”, then scroll allllll the way to the bottom of the page where you will see a link to “Report Offensive Images”. When you click on the link, a button that says “Report” will show up over every image. You can only report one image at a time, so you will need to repeat the process for all images you wish to report.

Google is rather “liberal” (haha) about what they will permit, so you should only report things that are TRULY offensive, mainly results that contain nudity or near nudity. You shouldn’t report harmless parodies or images that simply represent a different point of view.

I’ve made this my personal mission, because I am aware of Google’s standards that they are NOT following and I am angry. There is some disgusting stuff displaying, including nudity, her head pasted on slutty models, etc. What if a school kid had to do a report and saw this crap? I am going to be contacting Google directly as well.

I’ve searched a few liberal female politicians, and it seems nudity is reserved for the conservatives. Could be because nobody would want to imagine Hillary or Nancy that way, but I digress.

The voters supported Renee Elmers, what happens to Bob Etheridge, well, his governor comes to the rescue

“Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge will take office today as director of the state Office of Economic Recovery and Investment, overseeing the spending of federal stimulus money.

Etheridge replaces Dempsey Benton, who stepped down after leading the office for more than a year and a half.

Etheridge, 69, was defeated for re-election in November by Republican Renee Ellmers.

“As former congressman, Bob Etheridge knows how important it is to continue to create jobs and provide important services around the state,” Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue said in a statement.

“It is vitally important to continue to manage North Carolina Recovery funds responsibly and provide oversight as projects unfold, with an eye on the state’s best use of recovery dollars in the coming months.”

The state has received more than $10.5 billion in federal stimulus money. Nearly 80 percent has been disbursed. The money will continue to flow through at least 2012.

Etheridge will earn $98,500 a year.

Wall St. only looks at people from the “top” schools. They openly admit that the education there is inferior in providing what they need, but they want a certain culture to prevail in their organisations. Because that ‘s worked so well up to now:

    http://www.cnbc.com/id/41354100

“Evaluators relied so intensely on “school” as a criterion of evaluation not because they believed that the content of elite curricula better prepared students for life in their firms…

“…in fact, evaluators tended to believe that elite and, in particular, super-elite instruction was “too abstract,” “overly theoretical,” or even “useless” compared to the more “practical” and “relevant” training offered at “lesser” institutions – but rather due to the strong cultural meanings and character judgments evaluators attributed to admission and enrollment at an elite school.”

The only reason going to a “top” school is of any use is that it proves that you got into a “top” school.

But there we are with the Senate Leader, just re-elected last November and then having to explain his “home” in DC while never being in Nevada, buying tony groceries from the tony store with the tony customers. Today both Florida and Wisconsin say that they will not implement health care reform. The Florida court decision, that deemed Obamacare unconstitutional, is the basis for their decision.

Amazing how when you look at the TV coverage of the Egyptian thugs in the street throwing rocks…it looks EXACTLY like the people who threw rocks at the Israeli’s. In fact…it is. The Muslim Brotherhood is behind all the Gaza uprisings and it was behind the assasination of Sadat…and it was behind the Flotilla boats from Turkey to Israel. AND…it is currently in charge of the government in Tunisia. Synogogues in Tunisia are being burned down yet I don’t recall seeing that on CNN! There is a LOT of disinformation going on by the news media.

I am sure the “silent majority” in that town will not let that business go under. They can protest till the cows come home, but they will lose with the average American. The restaurant owner is entitled to his free speech and he owns the restaurant. If it is “targeted” then we can write letters to the editor that the left is “targeting” it and therefore encouraging and inciting violence. A lose situation for the left. And if enough people eat at the restaurant to make up for the boycott [like we did with Arizona] then there’s another big loss for them.

Seems the people behind the restaurant’s FB page aren’t so confident – the post on which everyone was leaving pro-Palin comments was deleted. I know for a fact that the boycott wouldn’t put a dent in their business. People are talking about driving hours to eat there. Maybe there’s more to the story and the restaurant ownership didn’t approve the message? I don’t know…it’s very odd.

    From the WSJ

“Recognizing the vulnerability of relying on the Commerce Clause alone, the Obama administration in the Florida case shifted its emphasis to the Necessary and Proper Clause of the Constitution. That clause empowers Congress to enact “all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution” its enumerated powers. As the Supreme Court has repeatedly explained, the Necessary and Proper Clause does not expand the scope of Congress’s enumerated powers. Instead, it gives Congress the ability to select among various means of exercising them—for example, the enumerated power to “establish post offices” necessarily and properly includes a power to print stamps.

The Obama administration claimed that the individual mandate is a necessary and proper means of carrying out its reforms in the health-insurance market. These reforms include requiring insurers to offer coverage to those with pre- existing conditions, to extend coverage to dependents up to age 26, and to eliminate lifetime coverage caps. Because these reforms make health insurance more expensive, the government’s lawyers claim that unless everyone is forced to buy health insurance, too many healthy people will sit on the market sidelines as “free riders” until they become ill. So in order to make the “reformed” health-insurance market work, it’s necessary and proper to force everyone to buy insurance.

Judge Vinson flatly rejected the administration’s attempt to escape the restrictions of the Commerce Clause by appealing to the Necessary and Proper Clause. His decision acknowledges that, while reforming an insurance market is a regulation of commerce, Congress cannot artificially create its own “free rider” crisis in the insurance market and then use that crisis to justify an otherwise unconstitutional mandate as “necessary and proper” to save the market from collapse.

This novel use of the Necessary and Proper Clause, if allowed to stand, would fundamentally transform our constitutional scheme from limited to unlimited federal power, narrowing the scope of individual liberty. In Judge Vinson’s words, “the more harm the statute does, the more power Congress could assume for itself under the Necessary and Proper Clause. This result would, of course, expand the Necessary and Proper Clause far beyond its original meaning, and allow Congress to exceed the powers specifically enumerated in Article I.”

What’s on my mind is how Obama is acting Nixon-esque in stonewalling Issa’s investigations, ignoring the judge’s conclusion that Obamacare is null and void and thus cannot be implemented, and how he ignored the judge’s determinations about drilling in the Gulf. If/when the middle east truly ignites, oil will sky rocket, and Obama’s crippling of Gulf and Alaska oil drilling will return front and center.

I completely agree with you…here’s an excellent post on the topic of energy, a snapshot is below

      http://blog.heritage.org/2011/02/02/morning-bell-obama-not-egypt-is-biggest-threat-to-u-s-energy-prices/

“Offshore, the Obama Interior Department has blocked access to 19 billion barrels of oil in the Pacific and Atlantic coasts and the eastern Gulf of Mexico—and another 10 billion barrels estimated in the Chukchi Sea off the Alaskan coast. Onshore, federal leasing of oil and gas exploration in the western United States has dropped significantly in the past two years. According to data compiled by the Western Energy Alliance, the Bureau of Land Management offered 79 percent fewer leases for oil and natural gas development in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming in 2010 than in 2005. And then there is the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, where an estimated 10 billion barrels of oil lie beneath a few thousand acres that can be accessed with minimal environmental impact.

Allowing Americans to develop these resources could easily produce at least 1 million new barrels of oil a day. The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis estimates that, if the United States managed to increase its domestic oil production by 1 million barrels a day, it would create an additional 128,000 jobs and generate $7.7 billion in economic activity.

Government policies that ban economically feasible energy development while subsidizing economically unsustainable ones only raise energy costs rather than lowering them. What the U.S. economy really needs is a truly free-market energy approach, one that includes (1) real nuclear energy reform, not more loan guarantees; (2) predictable and sensible coal regulations; (3) reduced regulation on renewable energy; (4) an end to all energy subsidies; and (5) common-sense limits to environmental litigation.

Congress should not let unrest in the Middle East scare them into energy policies that would make all our energy only more expensive. More bans on energy development, more subsidies for economically unproven technologies, and expensive new alternative energy production mandates are not the answer. America needs a true free-market approach to energy, and we need it now”

It has good graphics on the eye of the storm – Yasi.

Yasi crossed the coastline between Cairns and Townsville – Mission Beach took the hardest hit and it has affected Innisfail as well.

The storm has been downgraded to category 3. So far there are reports of destruction but no deaths have been reported.

If that remains then it is a blessing that lives have not been lost.

      http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-national/yasi-leaves-heartbreaking-scenes-in-n-qld-20110203-1ae14.html

The towns of Tully and Mission Beach have been very hard hit.

What is worse is the damage done to sugar and banana crops in the region.

We took a while to recover from the crop damage due to Larry, and now it has happened again.

There have been a lot of roofs ripped from houses, and trees made into matchsticks.

However, it still looks like there has been a miracle with no loss of life.

On the other hand one of our soldiers has been killed by an IED in Afghanistan. He was only 22

Here is a link to the Australian ABC news which gives some description of the damage caused by cyclone Yasi

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/02/03/3128533.htm

    A few things to note:

Power has been knocked out from between Townsville to Cairns (several hundred miles).

A resident of Townsville stated that the damage there was worse than Althea which was experienced in 1971.

When I first moved to Townsville I became very aware that the residents feared another big cyclone. Perhaps this is the big one they were expecting. In that case it would be a 1:40 year event.

Here is a link of people describing their experience and the scene that they are facing:

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/02/03/3128482.htm

Having gone through Aivu in 1989, I can imagine that people are facing quite a bit of devastation.

There was not that much destruction with Aivu, and we got off very lightly because it was not as strong or destructive as Yasi.

Yasi hit the coast when it was a lot stronger the Tracy when it hit Darwin.

This time the devastation is not limited and there is devastation from Cairns (light damage) through to Townsville at this present time.

The towns of Mission Beach, Tully and Innisfail have been the most severely hit by the cyclone.

Power is out for several thousand properties extending from McKay, to Townsville and through to Cairns and even beyond that.

I noticed in one report that it was stated the power lines had not been tested in a category 5 storm. Now they know… the lines failed the test.

A few more things that you need to know is that with this particular cyclone there was a prediction of a storm surge which would create a king tide. I have heard that prediction before and it has failed to materialise.

The same thing has happened again. I did hear that they are expecting something in Hinchinbrook which sounds bad. However, for other areas the surge happened when the tide had turned which means it was absorbed by the lower tide.

This prediction of a storm surge was a major reason for the request to evacuate that was given to thousands of people.

Normally, people do not have to evacuate from their homes when cyclones hit. Most people in FNQ know the drill. They know what to do.

Yes, when I was there and Aivu was on the way we evacuated. My husband took us to the Air Force base where we were in a secure building. He was on duty that day.

The unsigned e-mail, sent to Snyder’s state House of Representatives address on Jan. 8, told the legislator to “stop that ridiculous law if you value your and your familie’s lives.”

Snyder has proposed a bill cracking down on illegal immigration for Florida in a manner similar to what Arizona has done.

However, earlier today, I watched an update on TV that pro-government, paid “thugs” had been bussed into Cairo and were throwing Molotov Cocktails. My first thought was of the buses that left Chicago during the caucuses and primaries in 2008 to fan out across the country to intimidate and suppress the Hillary voters. Now, it sounds as if the MSNBC line is a support of the initial protestors, the “Muslim Brotherhood.” So far, Matthews and Uyger have pushed that line. I predict O’Donnell, Maddow and Schultz will do the same. I think it’s because when Obama finally came out with a statement yesterday, he said he had urged Mubarak that there must be “change NOW.” Sounds like the 2008 Obama campaign. That’s why MSNBC is supporting the Muslim Brotherhood. It’s what Obama wants.

was just looking at an article on Tim Blair’s blog:

you just have to read the comments:

    http://blogs.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/timblair/index.php/dailytelegraph/comments/yasi_hits

I am not sure if the person was serious. I thought it funny in light of the fact that they blame Palin for everything else.

However, there is a more serious comment further down, which shows that the watermelons will not stop their stupid propaganda.

There was a worse cyclone in 1918 and it had nothing to do with globull warming.

Ditto with the terrible fires we endured. We have had other summers where we had temperatures well over 100F. We have also had very serious bushfires. The watermelons simply will not acknowledge that their policies led to the bushfires being more devastating than was necessary. I guess they had never heard of spontaneous combustion…. sheesh what did they learn in school?

This Cairo thing is scaring me. Oh, Hillary, WHY did you let Obama co-opt you into becoming a part of his inept administration?

and another link that talks about the devastation in Far North Queensland:

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/02/03/3128710.htm

I should add here that last night we had storms in Canberra. It was more or less unrelated to the cyclone, but I can tell you that when the first rain hit yesterday it was steamy and oppressive and very like the weather we experienced in Townsville.

There were some houses in Canberra that experienced storm damage.

here is a report that his lots of pictures of the damage from cyclone Yasi and it includes a Google map that might help to put the area in perspective.

    http://www.smh.com.au/environment/weather/whats-gone-the–trail-of-destruction-left-by-yasi-20110203-1ae7a.html

The area that has been damaged spreads from Cairns to Townsville, and that is several hundred miles. If I remember correctly it was several hours worth of driving between those two regional cities.

The storm has continued inland, which is typical of a cyclone. Mt Isa is expected to take a hit tonight.

This is funny: Rupert Murdoch has stated that he will not be rehiring Keith Olbermann because he was a nut:

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2011/02/02/rupert-murdoch-id-never-hire-keith-olbermann-back-hes-impossible-nut

Please remember that Olbermann resigned he was not fired from MSNBC. He broke off contract negotiations and ended the relationship by announcing he was leaving the show.
