Tuesday Open Thread: August 17th, 2010

Posted on August 17, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s on your minds this Tuesday?

What are people talking about in your part of the country?

Are you noticing the use of the phrase “Ground Zero Victory Mosque” in what you are hearing and reading online?

The greater the usage of this term, the less likely this abomination will ever be built.

I would personally like to thank the President for his endorsement of the Ground Zero Mosgue. With this send off the odds of it not being built are 3 to 1 and climbing.

I agree with JR. This, along with the 9/11 terrorists being tried in NYC are the issues that will completely railroad this president and his agenda. Americans have compassion and tolerance. They do not, however, have patience. Being lectured on a daily basis about how bad America is…how racist we are…how fat we are…how WE have to change our behavior…and how WE have to have “skin in the game” is not the way to bring a country together. It’s how to piss off a population and get yourself thrown into the Jimmy Carter category of failed presidents. The Republicans just have to sit on the side and marvel at how this president and his own inner circle has sunk his ship.

I had the chance to use the phrase “Victory Mosque at Ground Zero” yesterday. At my workplace, people are upset.

Had a chance to speak with a 15 year old student. He said that his classmates supported Obama about 90% to 10% prior to the election. He feels that the sentiment is more 50-50 with people being upset about all the spending, taxing and Obamacare.

I will continue to use the phrase whenever I can.

Hey, I wanted to re-post this story on the Dem meltdown. Note, Rahm Emanuel begging Dems not to go public with criticism of Obama.

WASHINGTON – Democrats complain they were blindsided when President Obama weighed in on the Ground Zero mosque and handed the GOP a new club to beat them with.

Capitol Hill Democrats, including those facing tough races, were not told in advance before Obama’s Friday night speech defending Muslims’ rights to build a mosque in lower Manhattan.

While Mayor Bloomberg knew ahead of time what Obama intended to say at the Ramadan dinner at the White House, New York Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand were kept in the dark, sources said.

So was Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who dramatically broke with Obama on the mosque Monday.

Several Democratic campaign operatives complained that without a heads-up, they did not have the time to war-game how to handle questions from the news media or GOP attacks.

“They did the right thing – they just didn’t do it the right way,” lamented another Democratic source.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has spent three days on the phone doing damage control with angry Democrats and urging them not to go public against the President, Democratic sources said.

Obama went ahead with the Ramadan dinner remarks even though his top political advisers had not reached a consensus on what he should do. Emanuel was one of the skeptics.

Rick, as much as I love her -and Bill-they currently have no Democratic Party to work with. The party is imploding with so many Democrat leaders that are “Progressives” or just plain old members of the National Socialist Party.

We need a woman to run and win, definitely. However, that woman is NOT Hillary Clinton any longer.

This will be the classic repeat of the 1980 election. The similarities are incredible. Dr. Utopia is Carter. Hillary will be Teddy “the swimmer” Kennedy. Palin will be President Reagan.

Steve Emerson from the Investigative Project on Terrorism was on Bill Bennett today. I’d never heard of him before, but he is very knowledgeable in all things radical Islam. He claims to have tape – audio or video (I missed which) that will prove beyond liberal doubt that Rauf is a radical and will put the kibosh on construction. His plan is to release it next week. Stay tuned…

Los Angeles, the great Mecca of Liberal thought got a nice dose of being the “little people” yesterday when King Obama went through and stayed for a fundraiser.

Don’t know much about L.A. streets, but it was apparently a big mess with people trapped in their cars with no food or water for HOURS while the Pres wined and dined for a fundraiser.

The one thing everyone is talking about is the victory mosque at ground zero. Even left wing moon-bats are surprisingly against it or, at least, they say so publicly.

Another popular topic: the primaries are coming up in less than two weeks in Florida. Robert Lowry appears to be the front-runner for the Republicans. If he wins he will go head to head against Debbie Wasserman Schultz [peh] in District 20. [fingers crossed] He has signs going up all over our neighborhoods and he is being endorsed by our very own Pamela Geller, aka, “Pammy the Nazi Slayer.”

Finally, it looks like Meeks will win the Democratic nod for Senate. That will put Meeks, Charlie Christ [peh] and Marco Rubio [yes!] in a three way race. The current polls show that if Meeks gets the Dem nod -and it looks like he will…Rubio wins.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2010/08/17/new-obama-problem-incoherence/

I found this to be a very enlightened article. The term “malaise” was born in the 70s during President Carter. It was from his constant blaming of the American people for every problem. It was all our fault. We ran out of gas because we were wasteful. We needed to “suffer” and so he planned to reduce oil consumption. We had problems with the Soviets because “we” were the problem. We failed to rescue the hostages in Iran because “our military failed”.

Obama is doing the exact same thing. It’s all our fault. We are racist. We are intolerant. It’s Bush’s fault. It’s Rush’s fault. It’s Glenn Beck’s fault. The Republicans are causing all the problems. Nothing, of course, is Obama’s fault.

As ugly as it is getting now 2 years before his election I can’t imagine how ugly it will get. Carter only became unbearable a year before he got kicked out. I don’t think Americans are patient enough to wait 2 years to kick this guy out. Either he makes a tremendous lurch to the middle or he will get impeached. Especially if the economy goes into another recession. As much as I dislike this president I fear for our country being in this vulnerable state. Our enemies are watching.

Unfortunately, impeachment is a long tedious process that will be televised. It will make the moon-bats circle his wagon to protect him. If the impeachment process fails it will only make him a “victim” abused by “racists.”

Even if the process is succesful it will create havoc in the country and who ends up being president?

Not to mention the rioting and lootings and murders that will occur across the country in protest of the impeachment.

Our best shot is Sarah Palin in 2012.

          * the victory mosque

          * Israel/ Iran
          * the lavish back-to-back 1st Family vacations and getaways

Not only is the process public and “manipulatable,”—getting the impeachment doesn’t matter if the conviction in the Senate can’t be obtained as well.

The facts to use for the Articles of Impeachment are one matter. The stomach and the skill for Republican floor managers in both the House and the Senate to see the process through both houses of Congress requires guts, skill, knowledge and courage.

It would be disastrous to try for impeachment and fail.

During the campaign, I told the son and the ex that there was a very strong possibility that if elected Obama wouldn’t make it through his first term without the word impeachment coming up and maybe even sticking.

They both basically laughed at me and said it was impossible and they’re conservative, too. All I heard over and over again was that his support was too strong with this group or that group. How brilliant he was. How it would never happen.

I told them then that it wasn’t about identity politics, intelligence or even experience. It was about that group he was bringing with him from Chicago and I wasn’t talking about terrorists because isn’t money and corruption always the thing that does it?

Never in my wildest imaginings would I have thought that that same group would’ve been this dumb about relating to the American people at large, though. In a position where image is everything, none of them appear to have a concept of what that image is supposed to even be.

One knows this is the case when even pundits on the left start complaining about being lectured to by someone about what it means to be American…

When you think about it, Obama grew up in Indonesia from ages 6-12 and had schooling there. So he “missed” the good Old U.S. history, geography classes you get in grammar school. Then supposedly he came to Hawaii which may or may not have been a state at that time, or just getting into statehood. What history did schools in Hawaii teach Obama? So he KNOWS NOTHING about our history and yet he feels the need to lecture us about our “founding fathering” and religious freedom. News flash Mr. Obama: The 13 colonies were founded on religious freedom which is something we are all well aware of. It’s like he suddenly read the history book and found out that religious freedom is one of the tenets of the United States. People are totally offended by this breach and are opening admitting there is a disconnect between Obama and Americans. I am pleased that Harry Reid denounced the Victory mosque being built at the GZ site. That means there is trouble in paradise (the former democratic party). Everytime he opens his mouth, Obama puts his foot into it and shows for all to see that he is a muslim at heart.

Actually, several of the colonies were founded by religious groups. Pennsylvania and Rhode Island come to mind.

But what most people, including the Dunce-in-Charge, forget is that the Bill of Rights does NOT guarantee freedom of religion; it merely guarantees that there will be no state religion established. Over time several religions have been thumped by the federal government. Utah was not allowed to join the Union until they banned polygamy. American Indians had to fight to be able to use peyote, etc in their religious rituals. And no one, Muslims included, is allowed to pray in public schools. So declaring some of the tenets of Muslim to be illegal or even dispicable is fully within the framework of precedent.

    More on Emerson -

A few things he talked about:
How the media played a huge role in taking down the KKK but refuse to go after radical Islam.
That the NPR’s of the media world consider moderate Muslims to be “Uncle Toms”.
About how the moderate mosque leaders get squeezed out of their positions by militants, who in turn radicalize the mosque (why we can never take our eyes off a mosque we think is moderate).
How the BO admin. is suppressing prosecution of terror cases.

Some suggestions he has on fighting this “legal insurgency” are: have the courage to ID the enemy, use civil methods to “out” them on specific issues, hold hearings on their imam’s money trails… (All things our current Pres refuses to do.)

That last paragraph would be a good subject to bring up next time you contact your Rep. or are vetting a candidate.

Had to post this for you guys…you’ll love it. I saw Democratic party imploding in November and knew you had to see…both James Carville and Pat Caddell say so.

On my mind today is the fact that I will be doing LOTS of shopping at Target over the next few weeks because of the boycott by the lefty leftist. It’s unbelievable how they don’t think it’s okay for Target to contribute to a Republican but if Target had contributed to a Democrat they’d be praising Target. Target apoligized which I don’t think they should have. I don’t nomally shop there all that often but certainly will for as long as I keep hearing the ads for the boycott.

Target here today was packed for back-to-school shopping. I think this crowd may have mistaken “boycott” for “buycott”.:)

I’ve never been a huge Target fan but I have now made 3 trips to my local store just because of the lefty boycott. Also saw a reference (can’t remember where of course) to a statement from a Target exec that they don’t intend to give in on the issue.

What the ad fails to note is that while Emmer is for marraige between 1 man and 1 woman, he also said that it’s up to the people to vote on this issue.
The Dems are misleading the publuc. Surprise, surprise.
