What’s on your mind today?

We have a busy day today, but will update you on some VERY interesting things later this evening, we promise.

In the meantime, we are absolutely stunned by the MSM’s reactionary, deranged coverage of the “Swine Flu”.  Chicago’s local media is absolutely revolting — and dare we say it, RAAAAAAAACIST! over this manufactured PANIC!, TERROR!, SCARE!  The local news has been selecting Mexican-Americans to appear on camera, mainly those who do not speak much English.  They went to the absolute poorest Hispanic neighborhoods, and found people who say nothing more than “Ayos Mio!” (sp?) over and over again, like the Bumblebee Man character on The Simpsons.  Then they say, in broken English, “I’m scared”.  It is repulsive of the MSM to stoke fear against Mexico and Mexican-Americans, and then to put non-representative caracitures of the Hispanic community up on the screen, before seguing into “health experts” who talk about being sure to wash all of your food that comes from Mexico.  And then, at the end of the segment, the expert has to note that if you having been living on Mars the last 10,000 years, it’s a good idea to always wash ALL of your produce, whatever country it is from.  It’s truly outrageous.  About the only three groups the MSM is still allowed to caricature and malign like this are Hispanics, LGBTQ, and women.

And if you think we will sit here and be quiet while Hispanics are attacked, after working side by side with Hispanic groups who worked so hard for Hillary Clinton, then you have another thing coming and are stupider than everyone says (because they really do love to talk about you when you leave the room, we swear).  We went to 27 states during the primaries, and Clinton’s Latino supporters have a place in our heart unlike any other.  When times were toughest, in many cases, it was often just us and Team Latino going to crazy, out of the way places when the MSM was telling everyone all hope was lost.  Well, Hispanics didn’t give up on Hillary, they never gave up on us, and together we were part of something that changed us forever.  We will ALWAYS stand up for Hispanics because when the chips were down and times were tough, the Hispanics stood by US.  We will not allow our friends to be treated so poorly, and we hope you don’t let that happen either.

The MSM has gone TOO FAR with this Mexican Swine Flu nonsense.  We must ALL stand up and tell the clowns at the networks so.

The other thing we find really interesting today, and that we are still processing, is how much venom we got flung at us yesterday by saying we wish Dick Cheney was still Vice President.  A lot of the nasty comments can be filed under “This is a Hillary site, and now you are nothing but a bunch of Republicans”.  This is one of those moments where we have to say that if you’ve been reading us for any length of time, we say things how we see them and are never intimidated by any of the crazy things people say to us.

We will go to literal Hell and back for Hillary Clinton.  In addition to our regular lives and all they demand, we work hard every day to acquire the skills she will need in the field should she ever run for office again.  We love the woman, admire her, and will never again allow what happened to her in 2008 to happen again.  We won’t let that happen to ANY WOMAN again.  And there’s a little Sarah Palin love backing up that bipartisan agenda.

Pursuant to that, we never in our lives thought we’d be friends with Republicans, but lo and behold, the great people we met as Democrats for McCain last year are people we still want in our lives.  We pick and choose what things to work on with them — OBVIOUSLY we will fall on opposite camps in some races.  Roland Burris is a good example:  we love Senator Burris and have his back.  We will fight tooth and nail for him.  Our Republican friends want Mark Kirk to beat him, so on that note, we have to part ways and oppose each other.  In many other ways,  we will be on the same page, especially when a good Republican is up against a bad Pelosi/Reid lunatic of a Democrat.  Because after how it behaved in 2008, the Democratic Party no longer deserves our unalloyed blind loyalty.

If you stood by Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, you can count on us to stand by YOU.  If you stood with Sarah Palin and John McCain against wasteful spending and Congress so inept it doesn’t even read its own legislation, you can count on us to stand by YOU.  If you support our troops and were one of the people who kept us safe for the last 8 years, you DESERVE our praise, and we don’t care how many people don’t like it that we say so.

Because we think for ourselves around here.  You should too.  You might not always like where we come from, but, to quote Dick Cheney again, “So?”.

Interesting. This morning on local radio, a report came in from an American family living in Mexico. They said the Mexican media is blaming the U.S. for the flu outbreak. Of course. Blame every stinkin’ thing on our country. We deserve it, according to our administration. I think you mean “Adios Mia”…..”My God”. :)

Regardless; I am going to be happy today.

    Have a happy, happy day.

This is a composite audio/video of song whereby additional
tracks were laid in by different singers and musicians
from different places around the world. The finished
    product is tremendous!
The song itself is that classic standard “Stand By Me”
originally released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and
released again in 1961 by the Drifters. This composite
version is a real toe tapper.

So turn up the speaker volume.

If they weren’t there already, the Palin ankle-biters have now entered the Theater of the Absurd:

“From the AP: ANCHORAGE, Alaska – An ethics complaint has been filed against Gov. Sarah Palin, claiming the legal defense fund she established last week to challenge such claims is an ethics violation itself.

Kim Chatman of Eagle River filed the complaint Monday with the Alaska attorney general’s office, seeking an investigation by the Alaska Personnel Board.”

You read that right…the legal fund set up to help Governor Palin with the frivoulous ethics complaints is itself an ethics violation!

This is all headed in one direction…future headlines all over the corrupt MSM: “Most ethics complaints EVER.” Never mind that these are the worst sort of drummed-up baseless complaints. It worked against Gingrich and they’re doing it again.

Yep, Chapman allied herself with the lying, publicity-seeking AA musician, Gregory Charles Royal, who claimed that Sarah “Heath” once hit on him and then told him she “doesn’t do black guys.”

Sarah “Heath” was married at the time. To Todd Palin. And she was pregnant. None of which matters since Gregory Charles Royal made the whole thing up.

And that’s the sort of folks we’re dealing with on these ethics complaints.

someone said that what will happen is vermin like this woman will keep filing ethics complaints and then when it’s time for her to step up to the plate, the headlines will read like this: “Gov. Sarah Palin, who has 5,687 ethics complaints filed against her, gave a press conference today blah blah blah…” it makes me sick to my stomach…hey, you guys ever see “Scent of a Woman?” i’m sure most of you have–anyway, at the very end when Pacino is addressing the students and he’s talking about how he never took the high road or did the right thing because it was “too damn hard.” everytime i think of Palin, i think of that quote. i think that these things affect me more than they affect her because she has surrendered herself to a higher power–she’s accepted her fate and all the horrible things that are to come with it. she’s one tough lady.

All these ethics complaints crapolla is to try to weakens Sarah Palin’s popularity and spread skepticism about her possible presidential run. But this woman never backs down and her popularity still soars. Voters know that if she is attacked like this and no Jindal, or Romney, or Gulliani is because the extreme left is scared of her. She is the only one that can send Mr. Scary associations Obama back to Chicago in 2012.
When are these people going to realize that the one who lost was old boring McCain? If it wasn’t for Sarah the Kenyan boy could have had a landslide win. I see her rise to the presidency in 6 important phases:

1- Winning reelection as governor Alaska by at least 10 points(November 2010).

2- Officially announcing her candidacy for president ( June 2011)

3- Making a great first impression on her first debate against her likely opponents: Romney, Pawlenky, Huckabee, Jindal, Santa Claus…whoever be there, she will get all the attention. (December 2010)

4- Winning Iowa caucuses by more than 5 points(January 2012).

          5. Winning 10 out of the 18 following primaries(January-February 2012)

6- Securing the nomination(April 2012). By this time Obama would be scared like a little kid in Haunted House.

Let me give a little testimony about something that happened to me when I ran for my local Board of Education. I was new to running for office. I clearly stated my opinions.

During a debate, I was viciously attacked by a sitting BOE member. I was accused of being one of “those people” that would deny someone the right to an abortion. (And what did that have to do with the BOE?)

At a second point in the debate, this same individual attacked my again, even more viciously. I did not defend myself on either occasion.

Well, three days before the election, this 39 year old dropped dead of a heart attack. If you don’t think that put the awe of God in me, you’d be wrong. I was reminded that, “Vengence is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

So when I think of Sarah Palin, I have a certain sense of fear for those who have maligned her and attacked her so viciously and would never want to be in their shoes.

If Sarah decides to run, I trust that God will be her defense. If it is His will that she be our president, nothing that has ever been said, or will be said, will hinder His will.

    Hello Hillbuzz,

I have been following you since the primaries, and I have to tell you, you are very much appreciated for your straightforwardness and honesty. I am a Hispanic(Mexican-American) living in Texas, and I’ve been hearing people say “Don’t go to Mexican restaurants, or avoid going to places where there’s a lot of Mexicans…” It’s sad really, how much the media is allowed to do these things against us, LGBTQ, and of course women. Your insight is refreshing, and I’m glad to know that there still some intelligent people left, that have not been drinking the Kool-Aid.

I’m sitting on the fence about this one. I’m very aware of their sleight of hand/distraction tendencies, but at the same time, there are scientists, not attached to the goverment, saying this could become a pandemic.

I didn’t understand all of the medical talk, but one thing I got was that the flu usually just kills kids, the infirm, and the elderly. This current flu is killing healthy young adults. Apparently that’s what happened in the 1911 (?) pandemic.

So, I’m going to keep one eye on what might be behind the curtain, and the other eye on my hands washing themselves in the sink!

How sad that some people would spread such nonsense though. Truthfully, I haven’t been following our local media about this flu, because it just seems more like another pharma profit scheme than a real concern.

Thank you HillBuzz and Bianca for sharing the negative spin in the media and some of the masses. Sigh.

They all need to calm down with a carnitas burrito and remember the Coca Cola from their youth at their nearest taco truck.

I’ve noticed, based on the comments, that the independents and dems seem to be falling away from the site – comments seem pretty dominated by republicans now. I’m sad about that – I really liked there being diversity of opinion around here. I even saw a certain commenter yesterday suggesting that a dem go find “an angry dem site”, and leave this one.

There seem to be a lot of pro-republican posts by HB, which is fine, but maybe it seems to people that pro-dem posts are pretty scarce nowawdays. I know we’re all angry at the dems, but if there are good republicans in office, there must be some good dems in office, too.

I’ve become an independent after the last election. I like hearing all points of view now, and I’m sad it took me all this time to realize the dems weren’t angels (I always knew the republicans weren’t). But if the site becomes “Republican + Hillary”, I’ll be sad. I don’t want to just flip sides, and go back to only hearing one side again (referring to posts and comments, both).

    Just MHO.

I hope that someone (of whatever party) who is fiscally conservative will become our next president. Yes, there are good Democrats. I would have loved for Hillary to be the nominee but couldn’t vote for Obama because of his lack of experience. For that reason, I went McCain/Palin and consider myself an Independent. Both parties need to take a good, hard look at themselves. I love Hillbuzz because they talk common sense and do not spew vitriolic nonsense. They love all people and I agree with them 100%. Ten, it’s because American includes dems, and the posts and comments seem to have become disproportunately republican. And there are some lately in the comments who are calling all dems “bots”, even the PUMAs who never voted for Obama, and telling them to go to another site. I believe such comments are changing the character of this site, from diverse and “American”, to republican. So, it’s the disproportunate aspect, plus the growing negativity to non-repubs in many of the comments.

I just posted on yesterday’s similar thread about the Taylor Marsh site, in response to someone who reminded us that this site is named for Hillary. I said:

I suspect many of these republican posters weren’t here during the primaries. There are some posters here now who are calling any dems “bots”, even though we were PUMA who didn’t vote for BO. These people seem to think this is a republican site, and anyone else is a bot. I don’t know, maybe it has become a republican site. But it didn’t use to be – it used to be for all of us. My suspicion is that many of these new people aren’t even Hillary supporters.

This seems similar to what happened on the Taylor Marsh blog – Obama supporters were the “bots”, then TM flipped to being an Obama supporter, and all of a sudden, the Hillary supporters were considered the “bots”. So, if these particular posters keep acting this way, then Hillary supporters will be “bots” on a site named for Hillary herself. Strange.

I can’t say I agree at all, lorac.

An Obot may be a Democrat, but not all Democrats are Obots.

What I find odd in your post here is how full of labels it is. Outside of the Obots (those who blindly follow the President without question), I don’t see labels like dems, reps, indies, pumas, etc. being tossed around. I see ideas, discussion, even disagreements.

As I’ve stated to HB before. I came to appreciate Secy Clinton from reading about her here. I have never felt unwelcome, I have never (at least not until today) felt labeled here. A friend sent me because of the intelligent discourse and free exchange of ideas. I love it. And I feel I’ve achieved a clarity in coming here I didn’t have before.

It’s disappointing that the diversity of opinions and and reasons for coming here somehow offends you. But labeling this a “republican site” is unfair to HB and all the posters here.

I agree I was rather offended by the poster telling a Dem to leave, and mainly because it was said so rudely. Someone brought this up a couple days ago, (was it you) and quite a few of the Clinton Dems (as I think of myself and other’s who didn’t drink the koolaid or vote for Barky) posted in the comments they are still here, they just tend not to post as often.

Ten, I think you really misunderstood me. I DO like diversity of opinion. I have been here a long time, and I’m seeing the diversity DECREASE. That is what saddens me.

I’m not labeling the site, I’m making observations about the shift (which I believe is obvious to long time visitors).

And my main objection is to the recent growth of certain commenters who literally have told dems to find another blog. You didn’t address that, I notice.

I’m not telling people to go away, I’m lamenting that many diverse opinions seem to have gone away. And I think it’s odd that you misunderstand me so greatly, and seemingly don’t condemn the commenters chasing people away.

          Lorac …

I didn’t address the comment of telling someone to leave because I didn’t see it. I was only able to read a little of the Cheney discussion yesterday. But personally anyone who said that to me I would consider ignore.

I’m guessing only one person said this? Not an entire coalition of conniving republicans?

And you’re offended why? Because others (apparently including me) didn’t object to someone else’s opinion? Because you see republicans here?

I don’t know, maybe I’m not understanding your complaint here, but I just don’t see this as a big deal. We have freedom of speech in our country (at least for now) and with that freedom comes a personal responsibility to either engage or ignore others.

Then again, what do I know? I’m one of “those people” who came here long after the primary. Should I put that below my name in all my future posts?

I am still a reg. Dem, but have been disillusioned by the party. I no longer think of myself as a Dem, but love Hillary and Bill. Sometimes I get sick of all the I’m not a Hillary fan, but…… I see it here a lot and I either pass over the post or mention that this is HILLBUZZ. I understand why some Dems stopped coming here as it is disheartening because we started coming here because of our loyalty to Hillary. As a Clintonite this was a good place to come and not have to deal with Bill and Hill bashing, but those days are gone. And trust me, it’s difficult to find a place (tv,radio, blogs) where the R’s are not out of their minds with hatred towards them. It used to be we were all united, but lately I do see some partisan bickering here, which of course is good to an extent. There are many Repub’s that I don’t like. Never did, and never will. But I come here now strictly for the fun we have knocking O, and the occasional updates on Hillary.

If it’s any consolation, last I checked (and I’ve been meaning to check to see if there’s anything more recent poll-wise) Hillary’s approval rating among Republicans was at 50%, which is way up and probably higher than anyone could have envisioned even just a few years ago. Even in my Sarah Palin group, we discussed HRC at our last meeting and members who never liked her are now saying she’s the only good thing about this administration.

You won’t hear much of this from the Repub talking heads in the MSM, but among the rank-and-file Repubs Hillary has never polled higher that I know of.

MichL – After a lifetime of being a dem, I’ve become an independent. I think I understand where you’re coming from.

There are some commenters who are actively, and in a mean-spirited way, chasing away dem posters. One of them did that yesterday, and then a couple of posts later, said “everyone’s voice is welcome here” (or something to that effect). I don’t know if it was disingenuousness or a lack of self-awareness.

The vast majority of people here are civil people, and I hope we all stand up to these mean-spirited posts, not applaud them (as some did). I’d like to see HB remain an open, diverse place.

For me to defend Hillary at HILLBUZZ, and then be called dismissive proves that to me. I found HB during the primaries when I needed them most, and very much enjoy their writings. I find myself lately skipping over a lot of the posts, and writing much less lately too.

PVG – I realized that you may not have any idea how the Obama supporters treated Hillary supporters all during the primaries. They were ruthless. Always coming on to our sites, and not just disagreeing with us, but “yelling” at us, insulting us, calling us swear words (really offensive things I won’t repeat here – but think of that awful Sarah Palin t-shirt).

It was relentless, and I would say, even traumatic. So when that happened yesterday, I think it gave me some “anticipatory PTSD” or something.

And I mentioned the Taylor Marsh blog – that was, I believe, the largest Hillary blog around. When she flipped, she let all those bots do that to us – she LET it happen (because she wanted to be accepted as an overnight BO supporter and get press credentials to the convention). Seriously, it was all very traumatic. I got alarmed because I don’t want to be in that type of environment again. So, again, thanks for addressing it, I appreciate it.

Color me oblivious. I’m not seeing all the Dem bashing that is being talked about. But then I don’t read every single word of each post. I come on mainly to read what the Hillbuzz boys have to say – LOVE ‘EM and find them highly intelligent and very reasoned in their thinking – and with a sense of humor when appropriate that is just the medicine I need. All this is something that I think is sorely lacking from both main parties. I think the majority of the posts follow their lead in tone and demeanor. I wish the country would!

Prior to the primaries – I was not a Hillary fan. (Yes – I’m one of “them”) With the primary my respect for her grew greatly. She is one tough broad (and I think she’d see that as a compliment.) I LOVED her interview with Bill O’Reilly. He’s a tough interviewer and she went toe to toe with him with humor and strength. He says it’s one of his favorite interviews.

I began to realize that, while I disagreed with Hillary on some of the policies she espoused, I would have NO problem accepting her as the leader of our country AND our military. She is a woman of substance and conviction in the greatness of America. I DO NOT believe that Obama has either quality. I have been known to vote for people with whom I disagreed on some policies but whom I felt were quality people with their hearts and their convictions in the right place. I believe the only thing Obama is convicted on is that the US is a bad place that only he can straighten out through taking away that which makes us free people. I crossed party lines and voted for Hillary in the primaries. Some people thought that was a terrible thing for me to do, but “my guy” had basically already lost the primaries and I sure as heck was going to do what I could to keep BO out of office and fill it with someone who was good for our country.

Lyn, a friend of mine, turned me on to this blog a month or so ago. It was SUCH a relief. The majority of my friends are huge BO Kool-Aid drinkers who think he’s King Midas or JC. The funny thing is – most of them are the very people who BO thinks need to start turning over more of their wealth. Yet – they don’t see it. It’s always the other person that is expected to pay.

I hate it that Hillary is not in the senate. I think Pelosi and Reid, in particular, are going unchecked without the Clinton Democratic philosophy (true moderates IMHO) having a presence. As a conservative – that means there’s a huge gap between my beliefs and the party in power, rather than a gap where true bipartisanship can exist.

I used to be a dem but I’ve become comfortable as an independent. I’ve learned a lot about conservatives that I never knew back when I was a groupthinker and gained a lot of admiration and respect for other perspectives which I unfairly and wrongly used to dismiss out of hand. There are. We know them as Blue Dawg Democrats. Unfortunately, they tend to be a minority, and mostly lacking in adequate senority to shake up the House or Senate. Their Lordships Pelosi and Reid can and have been able to keep them in line.

I saw it rumored that a few got “permission” from Lord Pelosi to vote against the porkulus package, so they can be on record as opposing that when the next election rolls around.

In October, I seem to remember hearing it said that Pelosi let a lot of the democrats who were running in tight races not vote for the TARP. She also let her inner circle vote against it. Thus, the reason why she pointed the finger at the Republicans for voting against it, so she could protect those she wanted to protect and let the Republicans take the fall for voting for it. So, I would not be surprised that the same thing happened with the last couple of big spending bills.

I think I have to disagree.

In fact, it’s pretty rare when a person actually reveals their political proclivities and, when they do, they usually say they either ARE independent or they LEAN independent.

Any almost nobody prefaces their post by saying “I’m a republican”.

Which means you are assuming people are republican’s based on their posts. What you really mean is that people SEEM republican, which could be largely due to the fact that most people here, Democrats and Republicans alike, are reasonably conservative on issues like taxation, fiscal responsibility, free enterprise, and the economy — issues which generally dominate the conversation here.

Also, on the issue of gay rights, which is another frequent topic, most people here are actually fully supporting or mostly supportive, which is not a “traditional” Republican platform.

So maybe it just seems like the site is dominated by Republicans, but I would argue that it is dominated by a certain set of ideologies, and those ideologies are traditionally SUPPOSED to be part of the Republican platform.

That comment was mine. I am a dem. and following several posts by this person resorting to complaints about this site, personal attacks on the subject matter and other posters, with no basis in fact, I invited that person to find a site that would better fill their needs. All opinions are welcome! Lord knows I have been corrected and called on some of my bone head posts but never replied in anger.
I apologize if I gave you the wrong impression and would never presume to speak for this wonderful site.

Are you kidding? The people on this site are from all walks of life, trying to come together for our COUNTRY’s sake not a party.
I went a bit insane last night, but there were MANY Obot posters on the site, linking to their sites. Go back and read the “links” to sites that hate Hillbuzz. I admit I went overboard, but I’d had little sleep from travel, and was a bit emotional.

My husband was in Iraq for four years, and I’m DAMNED if this country is going to go down the tubes for this Socialist President who doesn’t give a crap about our servicemen and women or any of us.

I personally think that all of the Dems AND Repubs should be thrown out of office. If you don’t like Repubs on this site, then go somewhere else. I’ll stick by my statement. I love this site because it’s about people from differing parties who have one thing in common: COUNTRY first. I’ll vote for a Dem any day if he/she doesn’t get sucked into this political “self preservation”. Like that creep Arlen Specter: He left the party because he knew he would lose as a Republican. He doesn’t care about the people in his State, he cares about his OWN CAREER.
Our own Senator, Norm Coleman was a Democrat first, then left the party to become a Repub so he’d get re-elected. Same kind of bum.
      Throw them all out!
You don’t like the fact that Republicans are here trying to REALLY come across the aisle without political aspirations?
Then it seems that you have a problem, not me. I’m an American first, conservative second.

Otherwise, why deny those firemen their promotion because no blacks passed the exam? Even though other minorities were represented in the passing group.

Sadly, in our society people are murdered. In the last ten years perhaps 5 people have been murdered because they were gay or black. There is always a HUGE deal made of this in the media. However, in that same amount of time many more women have been murdered just because of who they are. No huge deal made of that. No hate crime legislation written around murdered women.

Murdering ANYONE is a hate crime. Because a victim is black or gay doesn’t make them any more or less dead.

          Ten,

Good point about women, who are brutalized daily. I don’t have any figures regarding the number of blacks or gays who were murdered based on hatred, so I can’t comment on the specifics of the numerical contrast.

What I personally understand hate crimes to be about is this: that being black or openly gay or lesbian makes one an obvious target–a sitting duck–for people who hate them just because. Same with religious Jews, who wear yarmulkes or wigs or kerchiefs (Orthodox women)or a Star of David. Like that.

I can see where the law may go too far (hello, everyone is something that some crazy person detests), but I have to admit that when I think of that black man having been hitched to a truck and dragged to his death or of the horrific murder of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming, I feeling doubly outraged, incensed, and sick. They were murdered “just because.”

I’m torn on the issue of hate-crime laws but lean toward supporting it. To me (and for ME), making a hasty judgment about the issue, especially based on arguments that ring specious (to ME) seems irresponsible.

Only after we get America saved from the coming fascism will we ever again have the time or energy to go back to typical Rep-vs-Dem squabbling.

Individual freedoms? Does it have to be plural? Because I’m certain he has done something for individual freedom (singular) – for him, that is. He gets to say one things and do another, and the MSM doesn’t blink an eye, he gets to spend $500,000 (of our money) to get some pizza flown into the White House from the midwest, he apparently never has to be at home or work, because he never seems to be at the White House, and he also has the individual freedom to be a cheapskate at the auction for kids’ school. I think he’s done pretty well in the area of individual freedom. By the end of 4 years, maybe they’ll be a total of four people with individual freedoms (wife and 2 daughters).

And he took 3(?) vacations during the primaries, and I think 2 since. I think HB should start a pool, we can all bet on how soon the next vacation would be…

I’d feel better if the entire congress was populated with cats.

          Cats are individuals.

Cats have no use for groupthink.

If the president or party leader told the cats how to vote, they’d just look at them like they were stupid. Then they’d curl up and take a nap or groom themselves and we would be safe from congressional action a little longer.

I want to be careful to make sure we don’t castigate the man just for switching parties. It could be construed as hypocritical in light of guys like Reagan.

That being said, I never liked Specter’s policies and lost all respect when he started siding with these fiscally irresponsible bills.

I stayed out of that thread as far as posting comments but I was fascinated by the debate, and I could tell after a couple of posts that you were no troll, James. If there’s one thing this very open thread is rapidly proving, it’s that many/most of us want the diversity. I’m a Republican who liked Cheney but I was certainly not offended in any way by your posts. You kept it civil and came prepared to debate, that’s what counts to me.

like BSB, stayed out of the pro/anti Cheney squabble… there are other sites I can go to to drop bombs and get all snarly.

For some reason, feel the rules of engagement at hillbuzz are a little more adult, contemplative, and considerate of differing viewpoints. I’m abiding by the “if you ain’t got nothin’ pleasant to say, say nothin’” rule here.

Though I didn’t agree with your opinion, you at least brought some cogent arguments with you to justify it.

So keep posting here, please… divergent viewpoints make for well rounded beliefs.

I stayed out of the Cheney post, too. (Though his “So?” comment did give me a little orgasm when I heard him say it, and I’ll always be grateful for that. Also, I’m not sure I’m objective about Iraq because I witnessed the WTC massacre firsthand and lost 3 friends. I wanted us to concentrate solely on finding bin Laden.)

Point is that I think there are just some folks (like HRC, Cheney, etc.) who inspire a loyal following, and voicing a nonsupportive view of them, however respectfully done, hits a hair-trigger on said loyal followers.

      And then the venom spews.

People forget about dipolomacy. Just like I do when posters have talked sh*t about Hillary…on a Hillary site, no less.

There are people here whom I like very much and with whom I agree on topics of graver impact (save the country!), and so it’s more important to me to retain and cultivate a budding friendship rather than chime in with a snide remark or a criticism or whatever when it’s not really necessary and doesn’t advance the conversation.

Let them have their moment as they let me have mine.

Dan Quayle is actually surprisingly intelligent.

He had a couple bad moments in public about 20 years ago and these were the moments that the Ministry of Propaganda made sure got stuck in our minds. But he’s smart and he’s well-informed and he CAN present himself well. He’s certainly smarter than Biden. And Algore (Tubby McPutz). And Maobama. And John Kerry. And three Kennedys to be named later. And Harry Reid. Probably smarter than all of them put together.

His DOG is prolly smarter than Nasty Pelosi.

Yes he got the Palin treatment – does anyone (old enough) recall the spelling bee mistake Quayle continually got pummeled for? He corrected a girl on the spelling of “potato” and he was wrong. Because of that mistake the man will forever be remembered as that stupid VP we had. It was late night fodder for YEARS. How many jokes did we hear on BO’s 57 states mistake? Or any of the myriad of gaffs he’s made. Biden is a gaff machine – but is anyone in the MSM or MSEI (Main Stream Entertainment Industry) calling him stupid or mentally retarded. And I think the only reason Biden isn’t an official laugh line for Letterman and Leno is because BO picked him. He’d be fair game if he wasn’t BO’s VP.

Because they did not, I think Merriam-Webster’s should officially change the spelling of the spud to include the “e” in the singular.

    Dear Hillbuzz,

I have been reading your sight since the primaries. I might be what you consider a right wing extremist, but I do not use my Bible as weapon to get points across.

As a Christian, I do believe the Bible is God’s word. And so I know that raises up all kinds of differences on how we view life.

I come to this sight because I see you as great Americans who love our country.

I like how honest you are about what you have learned along the way. You have caused me to think through where I stand on different issues. I know there will be issues we will probably never see “eye to eye” on and that is okay with me. We agree on what is important for our country right now.

I was deeply saddened by some of the comments vented towards you yesterday. I think it takes a lot of courage to rethink your opinions about people….and when it changes to admit it. I admire and respect that about you guys.

There are times when I read what you have to say and it moves me tears. You have a deep compassion for people, especially for those who have been mistreated.

I hope to someday get to meet you guys, to thank you for your courage and for standing up for what you believe in. Even when it goes against the grain.

    Michelle

I didn’t keep up with yesterday’s thread much as I was too busy (*gasp* I couldn’t believe it!) with work. But looking over it today, I read some of the “nastiness”.

I guess Cheney evokes a lot of emotion because I saw a lot of responses rooted in emotion and not fact. I saw a lot of typical misconceptions being presented as though they were facts. And I saw some nasty responses both in favor of and against Cheney.

I second the motion that I hope we don’t get nasty again. I firmly believe that while passion is good, an argument should stand on its merits and merits alone.

I have to say that I was a bit dismayed that some people got a little nasty yesterday. The thing that has always set Hillbuzz apart from other blogs, IMHO, is that people were always respectful. It was refreshing that the namecalling that is so prevalent elsewhere, seemed to stay off of this site. I hope we will get back to that. The buzzboys have done us a great service by starting a blog that puts country first and added a huge dose of common sense and snark to make it fun. Let us continue to respectfully honor their site. We all need each other here. If people continue to be blinded by party loyalty and the bogus “free press”, there is no hope for America. It is so important that those of us in the middle, who adamantly believe in what is right for America is our true cause, continue this civil conversation.
I believe our common enemy is the main stream media, where the truth no longer exists. This has to be our common mission. We need to hold the press accountable for all the lies that they have perpetuated-from the nonsense over the current flu “epidemic” to the demonizing of the Bush administration, the free pass given concerning chairman Obamao, and their refusal to treat women fairly. We need to keep the conversation going and organize more bipartisan “tea parties” until we get the media to start to listen. This country is too great, and too many people have died fighting for it, for us to allow this animosity to continue. As Lincoln said, “A House divided against itself cannot stand”. We all need to work together and fight for what is right, before it is too late!

That said, I would like to add, ‘Good riddance to Arlen Specter! A man with no integrity is unworthy of any public office. Now can we get rid of the rest of them and start over!

Hillbuzz-I was wondering why you are so supportive of Roland Burris. He does not strike me as someone who has really helped people. What has he done to earn your good faith? And why don’t one of you guys run for Gov. as an Independent. If ever there was a time when an indy might have a chance, it is right now in Illinois. And you guys are the epitome of an Independent because you use your own common sense and not some party mantra to guide your efforts.
    You have my vote!
PS, why do my posts show up hours later, if at all?

Burris is a great man, unfairly maligned by the MSM and liberal, crazy Democrats. Does THAT sound familiar to you? There are a lot of HRC people behind Burris here in Chicago, including many we know well. Burris has been good to women, the LGBTQ, Hispanics, everyone, throughout his career. We know where his heart is, and it is a good place. We’ll do anything for the guy.

And we will tell you more about that the first chance we have today.

As a former lifelong Democrat, who now labels myself a moderate conservative liberal, I think many people who supported Hillary and found this site have just moved on with their lives. When we were thrown to the wolves by the DNC last year, this web-site and a few others provided a safe haven to talk, share ideas, tell the truth about Obama to each other, and commiserate about what was happening in the democratic party. Now that Obama has “won” the election/cancel that/now that Obama is our president, I think that interest for many people in blogging has waned.

I do agree, Hillary’s approval level has never been higher across the board. She is definitely the bright light in the Obama Administration, and while at first I was not sure she should take the job, she is outstanding, a born leader, and a wonderful representative for us across the world. IMO, while many of us former staunch democrats opened our eyes in 2008 and saw agreement with republicans for the first time, I believe many republicans also were able to separate one democrat from another and Hillary came out on top, as cream always rises to the top! (Even Ann Coulter said Hillary was the best one who was in the running…)

As a Chicagoan and Illinois resident, Roland Burris is one of the few “normal” people/politicians left in Illinois. Sen. Durbin who I once liked, drank so much kool-aid I am surprised he has not turned purple. In fact he and Oprah have the dubious distinction of early-on endorsing Obama and providing some level of credibility which the Chosen One should not have been given. I do not like this coup being staged by the Madigan family and corrupt dirty politics is again rearing its ugly head in Illinois.

Thanks Hillbuzz for continuing to provide this safe-haven for us to discuss and along with Hillary Clinton hopefully solve all the world problems!!!

You think for yourselves. That’s why I keep visiting Hillbuzz. I was brought up to think for myself, to find out what is really happening (go to the source!)and make up my own mind with the guidance of humanist parents who let me read Animal Farm very early. (I still have my late father’s tattered Penguin copy.) I am so sick of ideology and dogma, particularly on the left. A (former) friend was happy to call me “elitist” and yes, “racist” because she could not see past those labels to understand – I was explaining how people felt about multiculturalism and how it was changing their culture. Bless you, Hillbuzz, you are treasures.

This commentary by Victor Hansen says it all about the crazy state of our country.
And he blames the Dems and Repubs equally.

It seems to me that the people who come to Hillbuzz are people who want what’s best for the country FIRST. Hopefully we can throw some of the bums out from BOTH parties, and save us from socialism.

Just got home from vacation to visit the kidz in Missouri! Snuck a peek at HB every day and only posted twice. Sidebar: never saw so many miles of “under construction” road repair! Either BO’s Porkulus has trickled down to the road construction industry or these were previously-committed projects.

Was listening to Rush in the car radio and the Specter announcement jolted me right out of a nap. Just who was the Dem front-runner in the PA primary for 2010 before Specter? Just googled it now, and it appears to be one “Joe Torsella.”

Torsella is a Philadelphia civic leader.
He is 45, is a Democrat who lives in Flourtown, and is a former president of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and is the current chairman of the State Board of Education.

Torsella has never held elected office. He served as a deputy to now-Gov. Ed Rendell when he was Philadelphia mayor in the 1990s and led the Constitution Center, a nonprofit museum near Independence Hall dedicated to educating visitors about the U.S. Constitution, from a concept in 1996 to its opening in 2003.

So that’s who Specter would be bumping.

    Analysis from the Newsnow network:

“Specter as a Democrat would also fundamentally alter the 2010 calculus in Pennsylvania as he was expected to face a difficult primary challenge next year from former Rep. Pat Toomey. The only announced Democrat in the race is former National Constitution Center head Joe Torsella although several other candidates are looking at the race.

“The precariousness of Specter’s political position — a Republican in a Democratic-leaning state — was on display earlier this year when he was one of three GOP Senators to back President Barack Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus plan. That vote was strongly condemned by conservative Republicans and Toomey used that vote as the launching pad for his candidacy.

“Because of the shrinking Republican vote in the state, Specter was seen as a dead man walking politically in the primary with polling showing him trailing Toomey by ten or more points. The bar for Specter to run as an independent was also extremely high due to the rules governing such a third party candidacy.

“That left a Democratic candidacy as Specter’s best option if he wanted to remain in the Senate beyond 2010.”

        Hi, PVG!

Obviously Specter has a bigger name recognition than the Torsella guy. So he will probably be the Dem nominee, IMO.

Will he be able to trounce Republican nom Toomey? If the Dems are truly more numerous in PA, then yeah, chances are good—unfortunately. Then again, Specter is 79, no? He could be the next Strom Thurmond :=(

    Squanderer in chief
At a stop on his grand global apology tour this spring, President Obama was asked by a reporter in France if he believed in “American exceptionalism.” This is the notion that our history as the world’s oldest democracy, our immigrant founding and our devotion to liberty endow the United States with a unique, providential role in world affairs.

Rather than endorse the proposition — as every president in recent memory has done one way or another — Obama offered a strange response: “I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.” This is impossible. If all countries are “exceptional,” then none are, and to claim otherwise robs the word, and the idea of American exceptionalism, of any meaning. Besides, American exceptionalism is demonstrable — Cuban journalists, Chinese political dissidents, Eastern Europeans once again living in the shadow of a belligerent Russia and, yes, even some Brits and Greeks look toward the U.S. and nowhere else to defend freedom.

Viewed within the context of the first 100 days of his presidency, Obama’s nonsensical statement is part of a disturbing pattern. Since swearing the oath of office, our president has traveled the world criticizing his predecessor, confessing America’s supposed sins and otherwise flagellating the nation he leads on the altar of international “public opinion.”

That’s straight Socialist talk: Nobody is exceptional. Everyone is.

This guy is hell bent on destroying this country. Hillary never would have done that as Pres, but the Dems are so afraid of Obama that they are all following suit.
When the hyperinflation hits in about a year, no one will be blaming Bush anymore.
And he started this whole thing, but Obama is going to make Bush look like a Conservative.

    Hey ya’ll–
I come here often to check out the entries made by HB. I do not often check the posts – mainly due to lack of time. I love this site and sense of humor. I wait for the coffe club posts – Patricia could post more often! Anyway, I agree – this site is more about being an AMERICAN – not a Dem – not a Republican. I have family on both sides of the isle – one of my family members worked for Hillary in New York during primary season. I am furious at WASHINGTON in general – both parties!. I had always considered myself independent – I voted for the person – not party. After the way Hillary was treated by her own party – I joined the Republican party. However, I still think AMERICA First –

I just received this from a member of the
Glenn Beck- 9/12 Project. Obama up to his ole tricks again. Distracting the people
with his plane flight over Manhattan and
getting the people scared over the flu while
    they pass this bill.

    From the Desk of:
    Steve Elliott, President
    Grassfire.org Alliance

Back-room deal this week will put socialized healthcare on
the fast-track. Please see below and alert your friends.
    –Steve

    Lauren,

We have just been alerted that House and Senate leaders are moving
very quickly to put “socialized healthcare” on a fast-track THIS WEEK
as part of the revised Obama budget.

Members of the House-Senate conference have struck a deal with Harry Reid and the Obama team to require just a simple majority
vote in the Senate to pass Obama’s massive socialized healthcare plan.

Our contacts are also warning us that Obama’s oppressive $2 trillion global warming Carbon Tax also may be fast-tracked!

Lauren, your grassroots pressure forced the Senate to remove this procedural trickery from the Obama budget just a few weeks ago.
But now a handful of Congressmen and the Obama team are sneaking the fast-track language back in the budget!

+ + We have just a few hours to stop “socialized healthcare”
    and the oppressive Carbon Tax!

The House-Senate conference is meeting NOW and Obama’s supporters want to pass the revised budget this week in time for the conclusion of Obama’s first 100 days in office.

    THIS IS A TOTAL OUTRAGE!

Democrats know they cannot get 60 votes in the Senate to pass “socialized healthcare” or the Carbon Tax, so they are manipulating
the process to require only 50 votes later this year.

+ + Fax Congress Now And Say “No” To Fast-Tracking Socialized Healthcare and the Carbon Tax.

We have set up our FaxFire to target the eight members of the House-Senate conference along with your two Senators and your Representative.

We must flood these offices with faxes TODAY and tomorrow. Go here to schedule your faxes for immediate delivery:

    http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?U=18579&CID=112&RID=19059514

As always, if you would prefer to send your own faxes, please do so!
We provide all the contact information and sample letters for your
    convenience at the above link.

    + + Classic Political Misdirection

    Here’s how this all happened…

A few weeks ago you helped Grassfire expose the Obama budgets $2 trillion in new taxes and the plan by Democrats to fast-track
pet socialistic programs. The Senate removed the fast-track language and it seemed to many that we had won this part of
    the debate.

As a result, the liberal media — and even the conservative media — dropped the issue.

Then, after the Spring recess, Rahm Emanuel went to Harry Reid’s office and struck a deal to put the fast-track provisions back in.

Now, we have just hours to stop this. So…

    After you send your faxes…

Please call these key members of Congress:

    Call your two Senators:

    Sen. Hutchison 202-224-5922
    Sen. Cornyn 202-224-2934

    Call your Congressman:

    Rep. Green 202-225-7508

Again, this is classic D.C. back-room politics. We must take a
stand. Please schedule your faxes and make your phone calls.
    Then, alert your friends.

Thanks for taking a stand at this crucial time.

    Steve Elliott, President
    Grassfire.org

P.S. If we lose the battle over socialized healthcare, more than half of all Americans will earn their living off the government!
This is the tipping point — the point of no return — when our country will become a socialist state like much of Europe.
