The Kennedy Family is hitting Governor Paterson HARD for not caving to HRH Princess Caroline's demands

Posted on January 27, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

drew-on-spider-web-ohrc_r

Just watch, this is all going to backfire against the Kennedys in a very big way.

Aristocrats seldom see the big picture, and instead lash out at their enemies in fits of irrational rage, never realizing those attacks expose themselves to more harm than they ever could inflict on anyone else.

In essence, the Kennedys are corpulent spiders on silky strings, normally at work in the shadows, tugging and pulling, scraping and biting, filling their webs full of glorious prizes, somewhere high in the rafters outside most people’s daily thoughts.

But when they bare their fangs and come out into the open, as they are now in their attacks against Paterson for refusing to cave into HRH Princess Caroline of Kennedy’s demands, the public’s ultimately horrified by what they see, and suddenly remembers these “American royals of the Democratic party” aren’t as all-American, democratic, or deservedly royal at all.

The Kennedys are using the press to hammer Paterson, which has been berating him in New York papers for “mishandling” the appointment to Secretary of State Clinton’s Senate seat.

The only thing is, the people of New York aren’t buying that lie.  A recent poll shows 49% of New Yorkers blame HRH Princess Caroline for the mess, saying she was wrong for demanding appointment to the Senate in the first place. Only 15% of New Yorkers feel Paterson was responsible for any mishandling of the appointment.

Not that the Kennedys’ media agents report any of that.  Instead, they claim Paterson’s approval rating of only 46% in a poll out today is proof the public has sided against him for not caving into the demands of the Princess of Camelot.  Really?  Then why was Paterson only at 44% in approval ratings weeks BEFORE Princess Caroline claimed she was withdrawing her name from consideration for the appointment?

Paterson has always had a low approval rating, below 50%, consistent with other Governors, Senators, or Members of Congress who succeed disgraced predecessors as unelected officials. The whole point in picking someone from upstate New York, like Gillibrand, was to buffer that low approval rating statewide with a voter-gettter who appeals to voters outside the Democrat core, liberal, base that Princess would turn out no better or worse than Paterson or Chuck Schumer would turn it out.

But, the Kennedys will see to it that Paterson’s maligned and attacked in the press through 2010, while Princess is rehabilitated by becoming Ambassador to the Court of St. James, in gratitude from Obama for her help in the primaries.

We don’t think any of it is going to work, though.  Going off to London to send America’s well wishes to Her Majesty, the Queen, and all her subjects just reinforces the aristocratic leanings of the Kennedys.  Princess will be as out of sight and out of mind as she was before 2008, which is in itself a net positive for America’s royal family.  People like Princess better when they can think about her as a young girl with her pony, as the subject of a vaguely pedophilic Neil Diamond tribute, or as the smiling, diamond encrusted debutante at the right hand of her graceful mother, standing next to her intensely hot and regrettably departed brother.

And the attacks on Paterson will go on for another week or so before the public loses interest and moves on to something else. The Kennedys can try to keep this story going for as long as they want, at their own peril.  All it does is keep people thinking about Princess’ entitlement and her disastrous debut in politics.  That makes any redemption the family has planned for her in London increasingly more difficult, if it wasn’t already impossible to begin with.

We actually didn’t believe Paterson would win re-election a month ago, but with Gillibrand at his side, and Chuck Schumer firmly behind the two of them, we now believe all three will win in 2010.

It took a lot of guts to stand up to that lot of greedy, manipulative, self-serving spiders in Hyannis Port. It’s going to take more of that courage and presence to withstand the battering in the media that the Kennedys have planned for Paterson.

But, the Governor’s going to do just fine.

The Kennedys, however, are on their last (eight) legs.

They just don’t realize it, the way aristocrats never do, until the mobs are at the gates with flaming torches and cans of Raid, and suddenly nobody in the palace is in the mood for any more congratulatory cake.

Welcome to reality, Kennedys of Massachusetts, already in progress without you.

Kirsten, is/was my congresswoman. I am not a fan but better than the NYC Westchester and south crowd. They control the state even though being geographically a small part.

Preach It, Sister Kath! And it can’t be gone soon enough to suit me.

No more dynasties! No more nepotism, no more inbreeding! No more Rockefellers, no more Bushes, no more Kennedys, no more Clintons (after Hillary–just out of respect to the site), no more Daleys, no more Bidens! The whole mess of them have run this country into the ground, and the sooner we’re rid of all of them, the better!

How come – considering their megamillions – the Kennedy women won’t drop a few bucks on orthodontia, a salon haircut and a jar of moisturizer? To a one they’re leathery, straw-haired skrags who could eat a sandwich through Venetian blinds. And they walk like linebackers. Sometimes it’s downright difficult to tell the Kennedy women from the Kennedy men.

    Oh, snap!

On the other hand, what would you rather look at, an “earth mother” Kennedy woman, or Nancy “The Joker” Pelosi? Eeeeek!

Kudos to Patterson. Gillebrand is a Blue Dog, with a conservative bent (which I hope is not corrupted by Reid, et al). And Granny hit it on the head.

At least Patterson can hold his head high (no matter what any future election outcome may be)on this issue. He didn’t cave and it’s the kennedys and their ilk that are making fools of themselves now, proving that Patterson was spot in his decision and reasons.

Really funny post. I had to take a break from reading about politics after the elections, but it’s nice to see you all haven’t lost your sense of humor.

At least Patterson showed some huevos in his decision making and should feel good about it. The thought of HRH Caroline in the senate was making me sick to my stomach.

  • Betty says:
    2009/01/28 at 6:33 am

What is the difference between Ted Kennedy trying to buy Caroline’s way into becoming a senator or Blago trying to talking about accepting a buy for senator? We have far too many people like Caroline supposedly working for the American people today, we didn’t need another brainless wonder in D.C.

  • rae says:

If Caroline wants to enter politics, why does she not stand for Gillibands seat?

is the Congress too good for her?

she would never win Gillibands seat and she knows it. it is a democrasy some win some don’t. Patterson thought Gilliband was would serve the people of New York better than her.

I now support Patterson more for destroying Caroline, she is a arrogant selfish little …. she does not represent working people in New York.

Patterson should now say why Gilliband is so good, and why Caroline is so bad

The Clinton’s have actually done the hard work of becoming adept politicians and leaders on the world stage. Hillary is a policy wonk who doesn’t just want the “trappings” of a position but rather to become an expert in a given field. How many years did she work on issues, in the political background, before she ever asked anyone to vote for her?

She got herself elected to the United States Senate! She is the one who got herself made a full partner in the Rose Law Firm in Arkansas. She is the one who got herself into Wellsley and Yale; rather than trading on family name and laurels. [Bush/Kennedy]

I too have had enough of these families that have become American Oligarchies. I want success to be based on hard work and merit. However, I would not deny that Chelsea Clinton could be a success in any given field because she has been given a strong work ethic by her parents. [Unlike the Bush twins]

Caroline Kennedy, like Bush, thinks she is due her success and believes she has earned it. She doesn’t realize that her mother’s years as a book editor at Random House is what got her own books published. She [Caroline] works for Kennedy philanthropies. It isn’t like she decided early on to break with family tradition and become an engineer or a furniture craftman [like Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon's son].

Caroline doesn’t even have the pose or polish of her mother; who did have a job as a photographer prior to marrying JFK. Pamela Harriman may have married rich men; who were many times already married when she pursued them, but even she knew her “place” was as hostess and not as politician. Pamela liked the “trappings” of position and fundraising without having to deal with the hardwork and messiness of diplomacy. She was content to be US Ambassador to France under Clinton. That is called self-awareness; something HRH Caroline of Kennedy seems to be in short supply of.

Well said HB. The train is leaving the station without the Kennedys and they just lost their ticket.
I am truly, truly tired of the quest we have for an aristocracy.

Jennifer: WOOT! I agree wholeheartedly. And I would stress that the Rodham-Clintons don’t come from money and that Jackie Kennedy was a pretty darn good editor at Doubleday in her later years.

And I can tell y’all from experience that book publishing is the sweat-shop work of the white-collar world. Only thing is that Jackie should’ve bitched loudly about the crappy pay, since not all of us editors are Trustafarians. It would’ve been nice to have the independently well-heeled speak up for the rest of us (since they could afford to get fired).

LMAO! Too freaking true! Thanks for the validation. Most people aren’t aware of the situation or what it’s like having to deal with many an insufferable author (who are shitty writers to boot!)and for peon’s wages. At least Mark Green (THE BOOK ON BUSH) thanked me “for making [him and Eric Alterman] sound smarter.” There have been some other wonderful authors, like Michael Davis (STREET GANG: THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF SESAME STREET), but by and large, they and the publishers suck it raw! xox

Venting over. I know many people suffer on their jobs, whether in-house or freelance. Big hugs for ALL of us, in every industry!
