Fear Porn
“Fear Porn” is one of the means by which the Left controls Republicans.
It’s a wickedly effective weapon of psychological warfare…and often a distraction that prevents conservatives from doing anything worthwhile or effective (since they’re instead crippled with frost-fingered fear and crumpled into little piles somewhere in the corner, so worked up by the scary headlines the Left’s been pushing).
The sickest thing about fear porn is how eager some conservative writers are to peddle it themselves; this is because fear porn grabs headlines and draws lots of eyeballs to websites. When a conservative site wants to up its web traffic, unscrupulous writers push fear porn that originated in the Left…and the bejeebus is scared out of conservatives because they now see the Left’s talking points up on places like HotAir.com, Breitbart.com, Ace of Spades, and other places that occasionally traffic in fear porn to boost their web rankings.
Always remember that websites survive based on their site’s traffic numbers…and higher numbers mean better ad sales revenue…which keeps these places in business. Nothing on Earth boosts traffic like fear porn.
Running stories like this is also the only time the Left will link to conservative sites and drive lefties to read articles there; the Left LOVES when conservative writers peddle fear porn because then MSNBC and other aspects of the Ministry of Truth can point to a conservative site and legitimize that story by saying “See, even Republicans are talking about this! It must be true!”.
Fear porn is very big money. Late-night talk radio is almost nonstop fear porn. Very good people end up addicted to this stuff, when they’d never in a million years spend all day watching horror marathons on the tee-vee. But they love the adrenaline and the excitement of being irrationally terrified of some conspiracy or off-the-wall nightmare they heard about on MSNBC and then saw reported again on a conservative site that realized this story would deliver them a whole lot of new web traffic.
Please remember that while fear is real and a natural emotion you have the ability to control your fears…and prevent them from controlling you.
Also keep in mind the agenda of the writer when reading fear porn on a website: was this a story that had to be written the way that it was…or did its author amp up the fear porn to gain more web traffic?
Never forget that crippling conservatives with fear is the Left’s objective…which means succumbing to fear plays into their game plan.
Why help the people you oppose by being terrified the way they want you to be?
