The Party of Stupid is pushing for a gay marriage ban in DC.
Oddly, this reminds me of something my boyfriend Justin does every time he comes to Buzzquarters and sees all the Hillary 2008 campaign memorabilia we have everywhere on the walls. He can’t spend five minutes in my room without blurting out something about Hillary “killing that man, Vince”, though he never remembers his last name. We’ve been dating since before Thanksgiving and this happens EVERY TIME he’s here. I can actually see the thoughts bubbling up inside him, like water boiling in a tea kettle, until he finally blurts this stuff out, Tourette’s style, because at home in Arkansas, growing up in a conservative household that hated the Clintons, this is what his parents talked about at the dinner table all the time. “That man Hillary Clinton murdered”. And, I add, they talked about it as if she in fact murdered him with her own two hands, while dressed in a black ninja suit, cackling the whole time.
No matter how many times Justin comes here, or how often we talk about how non-murderous Hillary Clinton is, he just can’t stop doing this because he can’t unlearn everything he was taught…no matter how crazy it is.
This is the same thing with the Republican Party and gay issues. They are so programmed to handle these things in the worst way possible that they make themselves look like the Party of Evil as much as they act like the Party of Stupid.
Justin and I are both gay, but neither of us believe in “gay marriage”…any more than we believe in “gay baptism”, “gay communion”, “gay confirmation”, or “gay confession”. “Marriage” is a religious ceremony and it is a religious word.
Unfortunately, the state has stolen this word and repurposed it for a civil contract.
The state should not have the ability to marry anyone. Period.
The state should have the ability to join two willing, consenting adults in a contract that forms a civil union between those two people. That is the right job for the state.
Churches can decide to marry whomever they choose, based on their religious traditions, which the state should be separated from in all things.
If Republicans were smart, they’d change gears and throw Democrats off by putting an end to the senseless attacks on gays that relate to this crusade against “gay marriage”. The GOP has never been able to hire a decent PR and branding firm, for whatever reason, and keeps making the same stupid mistakes because that’s just what they’ve always done and it’s programmed into them for some bizarre reason.
If they wised up, they’d instead launch a crusade against the term “gay marriage” itself, and they’d find a way to call the Left intolerant for trying to jam the church and state together. That’s a very interesting and winning angle, making the Left the bad guy that wants to force religion into civil matters.
Republicans should clearly affirm as loudly as possible that “marriage” is a religious term and that the state should not be using that language ANYWHERE, for ANYONE. All actions the state performs are civil in nature, by definition of that word. The joining of two people in a legal contract is a union. Therefore, the state’s joining of two people is a civil union. That is what should happen at a court house, where a “civil union license” is issued…NOT a “marriage license”.
Marriages should only happen in churches, just like baptisms, confirmations, first communions, and other ceremonies that churches have but the state does not.
This is how the Party of Stupid could smarten up and take away from the Left one of the key wedge issues that prevents gays from voting in their own economic best interests, which would mean they’d vote conservative.
The reason gays DON’T vote conservative is because the Party of Stupid keeps falling into the Left’s trap by appearing evil and single-mindedly bigoted against gays, when in reality the uproar about this issue is related to the usurpation of a religious word for a civil function, which was wrong to begin with and needs to be corrected across the board.
What think you?
If you ever thought we didn’t love you, we hope today proves you wrong, because we just read a piece over at Daily Kos for you. It was icky. We had to take a shower afterwards, with that stinky antibacterial soap to kill all the orange germs. Kos is a very nasty, rotten place, but we got a tip they were in full-on pants-wetting meltdown mode over “Motions to Recommit” and wanted to know what the fuss was about.
Here’s the Cliff’s Notes, so you don’t have to go over there and read for yourself. We’re not posting a link because we don’t especially want to be tied to anything there, and don’t feel like sending them any traffic.
Essentially, the pants-wetting is because back when he was in Congress, Rahm Emanuel invented the strategy of “Motions to Recommit”, which he engaged in both clothed and nude, depending on his mood, and whether he wanted to do this in the Congressional showers at the time or in actual Congress itself.
Emanuel used the maneuver to force Republicans to systematically go on record either supporting things their constituents didn’t want or opposing things their constituents were in favor of, as Republicans tried to look big picture on bills primarily dealing with other issues. In short, Emanuel’s goal was to create as many campaign ads for Democrats as possible, building a paper trail for arguments made to voters to boot as many Republicans from office as possible.
Daily Kos is in meltdown because they realize Republicans have a perfect storm of an opportunity to use the same tactic to force every Democrat in office to go on record voting against the will of their constituents, doing exactly the opposite of what senior citizens (the most dependable voters out there) want them to do.
They also realize that abortion is the key to destroying the Healthcare Rationing bill.
It’s going to be impossible for Democrats to hide the fact that the current president wants federal tax money to pay for abortions.
A great many Americans have a problem with the idea that the money the IRS collects from them will be used to pay for the abortion of babies coast to coast. That is exactly what is going to happen if Democrats pass the Healthcare Rationing bill. Elderly people and innocent babies will be killed by the federal government, using YOUR tax dollars to do it. Euthanasia, eugenics, you name it. That’s what the current president and his Leftist goons are all about.
The fear over at Daily Kos is that Republicans will stop being the Party of Stupid long enough to clearly nail Democrats on the abortion funding issue — in such a way that every Democrat voting for this bill will be doomed politically in coming elections. The “Blue Dogs” in particular can’t possibly win re-election ever again, if they go on record supporting the use of federal tax dollars to fund abortions and the denial of Medicare to senior citizens.
The trolls and goblins at Kos are gnashing their teeth and pulling their hair over this, flinging macaroni and cheese all over their mothers’ basements, ranting and raving and not quite knowing what to do. They are so close to their goal of destroying this country, ruining America financially, and advancing their euthanasia and eugenics agendas that they see their great victory being snatched away by the ghost of Rahm Emanuel and the tricks he used to pull in Congress.
“Not fair! Not fair! Not fair!”, they all shout, like small children upset things they did to siblings (with great glee) are now being done to them when the shoe is on the other foot.
It’s hilarious to watch.
Who knows what Republicans are up to. Nobody ever got rich betting Republicans would show spine, save the day, and do the right thing…not when there’s any option at all to crumble, melt into soggy pools, and back away from everything they believe in so that maybe — just maybe — the media affection they seek so desperately might come their way for a moment. Will they use the “Motions to Recommit” to lay the foundation for the ouster of every Democrat in office.
We sure hope so.
Is it a good thing the Daily Kos lunatics are up in arms?
But, we’re waiting to see how the Party of Stupid finds a way to fumble what could very well be a fatal blow to the political careers of a great many Leftists.
This is part eleventy-three of the media’s nonstop push for a boring, water-soaked, milquetoast, cucumbers and mayonnaise sandwich of a dull, uninspiring white man to be the GOP’s 2012 nominee against Dr. Utopia and the razzle dazzle the media will muster for his re-election.
Today, oddly, it’s the Daily Telegraph in the UK doing the Mitt Romney cheerleading…with cheers designed to lead the GOP off a cliff that looks suspiciously like the face of Bob Dole that’s not carved on Mt. Rushmore…because Bob Dole was never elected president…because Bob Dole, as nice of a man as he is, and as much of a hero as he is, was a dull, boring, cucumbers and mayonnaise white male candidate put up against someone with real razzle dazzle.
Please feel free to chime in if you disagree with this next bit, but we’ve come to the conclusion that British journalists are EXCELLENT at reporting in the UK and are in fact the ONLY global news outlets covering the collapse of the Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming. But, the UK papers, when reporting on American politics, just parrot whatever they read in US papers. It doesn’t appear the UK political writers are even based in the US, but are reading feeds in London and then trying their best to make sense of what’s going on here, assuming the American media has professional journalists doing the heavy lifting for them.
But, we know that’s not the case. American journalism? What’s that? Besides a glaring oxymoron.
So, what happens is this: the MSM’s Herculean push to force a losing candidate like Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Mitch Daniels, or someone else from the usual sausage fest of boiled meat and tapioca candidates, is not seen by the British journalists for what it really is. Instead of disregarding these psy-ops missions from the Left as the election tampering they really are, the British, who don’t seem to do this sort of thing, treat the MSM’s lies as actual facts. They buy the lies completely, and then repeat them, not having the time or resources, apparently, to step back and look at things more objectively. The British are duped because they assume American journalists are professionals whose degrees from expensive journalism schools are worth more than toilet paper.
So, the Telegraph starts clamoring for Mitt Romney to take the GOP nomination, adding a “u” to their “clamour” to make it super-British. They dismiss and denigrate Sarah Palin, because that’s what their American counterparts do, too. It’s all very predictable.
The other night, we were talking to a friend of ours in Florida and he’s a very anti-Palin Republican who wants “a boring white businessman” to be the GOP’s 2012 nominee. This could be a with or without sausage pick for Republicans, he says, because he thinks Meg Whitman would make a great president. He wants her because she’s a business woman, which is the same reason he wants Mitt Romney (who, for the record, isn’t a business woman, technically, but close enough). Our friend doesn’t, however, want Pawlenty, Daniels, John Thune, Haley Barbour, or any of the other destined-losers the MSM is pushing for 2012.
Our friend believes that after four years of destructive razzle dazzle, the public will want a boring person who drones on and on but who “knows about business”.
We just don’t buy that.
In fact, we think the very last time a boring person won the presidency was in 1988, when George H. W. Bush beat the more-boring (and weird-looking) candidate he was up against: Snoopy. Democrats ran a strange little man who rode around in a tank like a cartoon dog with a helmet on his head, so they lost. No offense to George H. W. Bush, whom we have come to respect and appreciate as much as his son. But, Bush was not an exciting candidate.
The Clintons were in 1992 and 1996.
“Dubya” was in 2000…against a dull, wooden, pathological liar of a candidate in Gore.
In 2004, Democrats ran Herman Munster…who lost to “that reckless cowboy” the MSM kept insisting Bush was.
Well, as it turns out, Americans liked the razzle dazzle of a reckless cowboy more than they liked someone who was for things before they were against them and flip-flopped his way through one embarrassing, dull episode after another, with his gaffe-prone ketchup queen and sugga momma at his side.
2008 had the ultimate razzle dazzle artist, Dr. Utopia, who is actually nothing BUT razzle dazzle. There’s no substance there at all. It’s 100% artiface and image. All propaganda. All emotion. All forced excitement.
Do you really think that’s not going to be pumped out at eleventy in 2012? While it’s true the hopeychangey stuff won’t work again, and the smurf blood blue 2008 campaign posters won’t be recycled, since a new color scheme and font will be market tested by then, Axelrod et all will find some new hook to dazzle with.
While Americans will indeed want to dump Dr. Utopia by 2012, that doesn’t mean Republicans should default back to the “It’s Dole’s turn” and “It’s McCain’s turn” nonsense that’s plagued Republican candidates in the past.
How about making 2012 “America’s turn” and nominating someone the people actually want to be president: like Sarah Heath Palin.
That’s a novel idea.
Since the MSM, at home and abroad, keeps working overtime to force someone bland, unappealing, and boring to go up against Dr. Utopia and his Razzle Dazzle Machine, Palin supporters need to work overtime themselves to stop the media from getting its way and picking the GOP opponent for the “Lightbringer” they think will be most likely to lose to him.
If we keep calling these people out on this, every day, and raise awareness what is happening, maybe we can stop the media this time.
