25 Things You Need to Know About Joe McGinniss’ Book “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin”
Joe McGinniss’ book, “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin”, is a poorly written collection of lies and ramblings of a very strange man who spent a summer stalking the Palin family and their friends in Wasilla, Alaska (often incorporating the squirrels and waterfowl of the area into the book as characters, like the author was some sort of bitter, agenda-driven, drag-king version of Beatrix Potter). Kevin DuJan of HillBuzz.org read Joe McGinniss’ book so you never have to — and has collected the only 25 things you ever need to know about “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin” as a public service below.
What follows is an exhaustive attempt to tell you absolutely and definitively EVERYTHING you need to know about this book (so no complaining that it’s a long essay, all Ye of the Twitter and the 140-character maximums; this is meant as a resource for those who want to counter the vile things said about Governor Palin in this book without having to further line McGinniss’ coffers by actually buying a copy of his mutterings…as told to him by geese or squirrels). The book is 300+ pages of craziness that I’ve distilled into 25 sections for you, which also amounts to an identification of the Left’s 25 most common attacks on Governor Palin, since nothing in The Rogue is original. If you’ve been following Governor Palin’s political career with any interest, then you’ve heard almost all of this garbage before (and probably told better by the likes of Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, and others in the lamestream media). The Rogue honestly amounts to several days of my life that I will never get back, having to slog through this dreck so I’d know what the Governor’s most mentally unstable detractors continue to say about her, so terrified by the clear and obvious realization that Sarah Palin is indeed the woman who’s going to defeat Barack Obama in 2012 and become the 45th President of the United States.
Sarah Palin on “The Bob & Mark Show” in Alaska at 930am PST 9/16/11? UPDATE: Bob & Mark Show just playing games, Palin never intended to be on the show
UPDATE 130pm CST 9/16/11: The Bob & Mark Show and station KWHL were just playing games with this. On the show today, Bob and Mark admitted people were calling the station as early as yesterday afternoon, asking if the Governor would be on. The station deliberately played coy, telling people they’d just have to listen to find out. The way the person at the switchboard said this led people to believe there would indeed be an appearance by Governor Palin on the show today. This was picked up by Simon Conway in Iowa, another morning radio host, who blasted it out on his Facebook that Governor Palin would make an announcement today. People then used FreeRepublic.com to propagate links to that Facebook posting. I heard about all this at around 240am and put up this posting to investigate whether this was true or not. It sure sounded plausible the Governor would appear on the radio show, since she’s done that several times before. But, as you can read below, I questioned how an entry into the race today would fit with the announced GOP presidential debate schedule.
The Governor will announce when she wants to announce, in keeping with her strategy — which at some point in the future I’m sure you will look back on and see why she’s done everything she’s done. The Governor knows what she’s doing.
Bob and Mark, however, are just playing games and KWHL should know better than to enable them. I don’t know why Simon Conway did what he did, either, but it did lend some excitement to the morning listening in to see if the announcement would be made.
There is no other Republican who generates this sort of excitement, or whose potential appearance on a radio show could make people who never listen to the radio tune in on the off-chance she’ll appear.
Just imagine the explosion of excitement that will occur when she does indeed announce.

ORIGINAL POST 245am CST 9/16/11:
“The Bob & Mark Show” broadcasts out of Anchorage, Alaska, with hosts Bob and Mark on KWHL. [Click here for a link to their site, where you can listen to the broadcast LIVE! ] In the final episode of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” on TLC — which Governor Palin herself produced and had complete creative control over — the Governor promised to let Bob and Mark know, on the air, when she decides to run for president. Since the Governor personally chose to have that bit included in the episode, there has to be a reason for this. “The Bob and Mark Show” broadcasts Monday through Friday.
Though tomorrow is Constitution Day, today’s when Constitution Day is observed in most of the country. It’s also a day when “The Bob and Mark Show” broadcasts. Many believe the Governor will announce her presidential bid on the show today — since she appears to indeed be scheduled as a guest at 930am PST…which is 1130am CST and 1230pm EST.
I have no idea what will happen on the show, but I’m going to tune in just in case. If you hear anything else pertaining to this, please share the info in this thread. It sure is interesting the Governor is booked on this show, today of all days, since restoring respect for the Constitution is one of the main planks in what’s presumed to be the Governor’s presidential platform.
Tune into “The Bob & Mark Show” to see what happens!

PS: I’ve been trying for a few weeks now to determine if Governor Palin has any public events scheduled for Constitution Day (observed today, or tomorrow 9/17/11). I have not been able to turn up anything, which is intriguing in itself. We don’t know what this means yet — if anything — but I’m sure going to listen to “The Bob & Mark Show” to see if she’s really going to be on, and to listen to what the Governor says if she does in fact appear on the show.

UPDATE: It looks like the source of this rumor is Simon Conway, who is a drive time radio host in Iowa, who said on Facebook that he saw something posted at a Palin supporting group about the Bob & Mark appearance before it was taken down. Conway seems like he wanted to be the first to say she was going to announce today, so he would get the attention that would come with that. Looking at the GOP schedule of debates, though, I don’t know what to think to be honest. Rick Perry loses more steam every debate, and the next debate is not until September 22nd. It sure keeps with Governor Palin’s past announcements to declare her candidacy on a symbolic day like Constitution Day…but it also seems like part of her strategy to keep allowing Perry to further implode before she joins the race. We all know the moment Governor Palin announces, she’ll be the sole focus, and guys like Perry won’t get the vetting and media attention they need as her opponents. The debate after the 22nd is in October, on a day when the Governor is scheduled to give a speech on economics in Korea.
Technically, she could fly back in time to participate in the debate, since she’d make up time on the 14 hour flight back to the States, though I don’t know if she’d be inclined to do this. It seems odd for her to participate in the September 22nd debate, but then skip the one on October 18th, and then rejoin the group a debate after that…unless her intention is to begin participating in the debates after the 18th. That would give her opponents two appearances on the stage without her to attack her, and I don’t see her allowing that to happen though.
I think even the Governor’s detractors need to admit she’s a masterful strategist who keeps everyone guessing. She really brings great excitement to American politics. Honestly, my boyfriend Justin asked what I was typing so late and I told him, and now he’s too excited to sleep and has actually woken his mother up in Arkansas to tell her to listen to this radio show. I told him not to do this, but he’s excited at the mere prospect of Governor Palin announcing today. I don’t think even Mittens Romneycare’s own family are excited by anything he does. Let alone complete strangers.
Can you imagine someone like Justin calling his mother long distance in the middle of the night, waking her up, just to tell her there’s a chance Mitt Romney could be on an obscure radio show in Alaska later that morning — and that she would be excited and happy he did this?

UPDATE: 1130am CST Trying to listen to Bob & Mark, but the little radio feature of their site won’t work. Maybe too many people are listening in. If you know of an alternate means of listening, please share. Is this station picked up on any other internet site people can listen in to?
UPDATE: 1145am CST I finally got the streaming to work, but Bob & Mark are talking about an event being held at the Anchorage Wal-Mart to benefit the Fisher House, which helps soldiers coming back from war recover and readjust to being home. There’s a raffle that’s helping the cause. It’s really nice they’re spending so much time on this cause…I give them a lot of credit because it seems like they’re big supporters of our troops. They’re taking calls now from people….and someone just called and asked if Sarah Palin is going to be on. Chris from Ohio is on now. She asked them if they’re going to have the Governor on, but they say she’s not scheduled. Todd apparently is moose hunting and they called him yesterday and he had no idea about the Governor being on. Bob & Mark is actually a very fun show…much better than morning radio here in Chicago…but I’m going to stop listening now because it’s clear the Governor will not be on.
UPDATE 1153am CST: So, there you have it. Simon Conway of Iowa drive time radio started this rumor yesterday on his Facebook page, and we investigated it, but it turns out Simon was wrong and the Governor did not in fact announce on the Bob & Mark Show 9/16/11. Tomorrow is actually Constitution Day, so perhaps something will happen then, but it’s not happening on the Bob & Mark Show today, contrary to what Simon Conway said.
UPDATE: 1210pm CST Looks like Bob & Mark are now saying Governor Palin will be calling in within the next hour. In the meantime, they’re playing some really great music, if you have nothing to listen to at work. It’s actually fun. And exciting wondering what the Governor will say when she calls in.
UPDATE: 1215pm Before they went to commercial, they said “Sarah, up next”
UPDATE: 1221pm – they’re promoting a comedy show now, and giving the menu to a restaurant, where they have different sandwiches for $9.95. You get free onion rings and fries by mentioning the Bob & Mark Show. Don’t tell Michelle Antoinette Obama though! Sarah Palin is supposed to call in any minute now.
UPDATE: 1225 while they are waiting for her call, they are playing comedy calling-in bits
UPDATE: 1227pm Now they’re saying to someone named April Weatherwood that Governor Palin will not be on the show. [ I think this was recorded earlier though ]. April also said that she called the station’s switchboard yesterday and they said for her to listen in at 1030am CST.
UPDATE: 1230pm CST, where I’m from in Cleveland, the morning radio show people played games all the time…so I honestly have no idea what’s going on or if the Governor really is calling in. They might just be trying to keep people listening as much as possible, as I bet they’re getting great ratings numbers off this.
UPDATE: 1232pm Now they are playing some kind of hockey song about being a badass in the wild, wild west.
UPDATE: They say that in just a matter of moments Governor Palin is calling in.
UPDATE: 1234pm CST — they have a man pretending to be Sarah Palin, talking about doing a 5 mile run. Then they start playing the 80s song “Sarah”. And then they start playing some kind of country music song about a guy divorcing his wife, the song is “I Pray For You”.
UPDATE: 1238pm They’re taking a break again…and not mentioning Governor Palin again…it’s very strange how they are going back and forth like this. I think they are just playing games. Now they’re talking about Toyota trucks at some dealership.
UPDATE: 1242pm CST It’s fun listening to the Alaskan commercials, but I think Bob & Mark are playing games.
UPDATE: 1247pm a young girl in North Carolina said she called into the station yesterday and asked if Governor Palin was going to call in today, and the station wouldn’t tell her either way. Bob & Mark then said that when Governor Palin DOES announce, she will do it on their show, but now they are implying she won’t call in today.
UPDATE: 100pm CST The Bob & Mark Show was just playing games. Governor Palin had never agreed to be on. This was just morning show radio “hijinks”.

Amazon has Sarah Palin’s Alaska for just $9.99 for the complete DVD set
If you don’t already own the TLC documentary series Sarah Palin’s Alaska, Amazon has it on sale for the very reasonable price of $9.99.
If you don’t want to wait for DVDs to arrive and would prefer watching it streaming, you can do that as well: the Amazon Instant Video version is $1.99/episode or $13.99 for the full 9-episode documentary.
I think Amazon’s Instant Video feature is amazing. I can either watch something streaming, or download it to my computer and watch it that way (and it only takes a few minutes to download completely). I have never had any problem whatsoever using Instant Videos off Amazon.
What a great price for Sarah Palin’s Alaska whether you buy it on DVD or streaming…it is a great show, and now that the weather is getting cooler, it’s going to be fun to watch all the episodes again and relive all the Palin family’s adventures in the beautiful scenery of Alaska.
You betcha!
How do you debate people who seek to attack Governor Sarah Palin?
Our good friend Patricia sent in the following email exchange that recently transpired between a neighbor, Anne, and herself, with Anne engaging in attacks on Governor Sarah Palin that seem oddly familiar…because they’re almost word-for-word lifted from the media’s usual talking points.
Patricia is no shrinking violet and didn’t take any gruff from Anne. She defended Governor Palin and debated Anne in a calm and reasoned way, which drove Anne into emotional territory where she stooped to expletives and other irrationality that just made her look foolish (more so than usual, according to Patricia).
I’ve reprinted the exchange below to give you an idea how YOU too can counter these tired and familiar attacks on Governor Palin, whether they come to you in email exchanges or happen in the grocery store, at the park, or in the coffee room at the office.
You’re going to keep seeing this same garbage recycled repeatedly for the next year…so it’s important to get in your own mindset to refudiate it.
Wink.
Shushannah Walshe article on “The Daily Beast”: “Is Palin for Gay Rights?” Quick answer: You betcha.
Here’s an article Sushannah Walshe ran on “The Daily Beast” today, asking the question “Is Palin for Gay Rights?”.
Walshe is the co-author of the “Sarah from Alaska” book, written with Scott Conroy, the very sweet (and all kinds of adorable) reporter I’ve mentioned before who is one of the few members of the mainstream media who honestly and truly does report on Governor Palin with fairness. Conroy is an Obama supporter, but he’s professional enough to put aside his personal beliefs (and Kool-Aid) to accurately report on the Governor. After talking with Walshe this week as she prepared this article, I can now add her to the too-short list of professional journalists like this as well. She’s smart, does her homework, and has no agenda to push in her writing. That was clear when reading “Sarah from Alaska”, and it’s clear in what she writes for The Daily Beast and other publications too.
When dealing with reporters, it’s like having a car full of clowns pull up on the curb, with a wide-array of fumblers and bumblers bursting forth in a rainbow of oddball colors, mangled balloon animals, and squirting flowers, only to find the driver of the now otherwise empty car sitting behind the wheel reading Voltaire and possibly working on some gorgeous calligraphy. It’s so rare to find a member of the media who is not straight out of MSNBC’s central casting, that I almost don’t believe my eyes when I meet one. But Walshe is among a very small handful of actual, respectable, professionals in what’s unfortunately become a profession clogged to incompetence with agenda-driven hacks of the Chris Matthews, Maureen Dowd, Keith Olbermann, variety. Ie, clowns. From clown town. Gleefully engaging in drive-by-media coverage crammed together in those funny little cars, stinking worse than sardines.
I think Walshe asks a lot of great questions in her Daily Beast piece and I hope she gets some buzz going in both straight and gay circles as people try to answer them all.
As for the view from here in Boystown, I’ll repeat what I always say when asked if “Sarah Palin is for gay rights?”: Governor Palin is for ALL rights for ALL people under our Constitution. She has never, and will never, tolerate any discrimination targeted against an individual with the intent to take away Constitutional rights from that person, for whatever reason. The Governor holds no prejudice against gays, which I appreciate on a personal level because I’ve met the Governor, with her knowing exactly who I was, and that I’m gay, and she didn’t do anything remotely villainous to me. I’ve met a lot of politicians who don’t like gays, on a personal level, and who only do the bare minimum to tolerate us because — being Democrats, usually — these people know they are expected to maintain that minimal standard of tolerance…Governor Sarah Palin is not one of these people.
Similar to Dick Cheney, the Governor is actually a stronger supporter of gay rights than anyone on the Democrat side of the aisle for the simple fact that she could completely ignore us, and whatever happens to us, and nothing could ever be said about her since Republicans are not expected to champion us. That’s the role Democrats have claimed they’ve staked out for themselves, but it’s Democrats like Obama who refuse to march in pride parades and who control not just the federal government but massive “blue states” like Illinois, at just about every political level, and yet do nothing to advance civil rights for gays when they control all the strings of elected office.
It’s always a risk for people like Cheney and Palin to follow their hearts and consistently apply the same “federal government should stay out of individual private lives” conservative logic towards benefitting gays that forms the basis of their political thought, because there is a tiny, vocal faction on the Right that does indeed indulge in anti-gay hate just for seemingly their own sick fun in doing that. This faction is — it must always be noted — dwarfed to a microscopic level by the massive hate engine on the Left, which is fueled and fired at people like Cheney and Palin for the simple fact that they are conservatives.
That’s something the media largely ignores, because of course it hurts Democrats to accurately note they are the party of hate.
But, come to Boystown and hear some of the garbage that is directed at Governor Palin on a regular basis, because she’s a woman and she’s conservative, and listen to the lies that are told about her because someone’s boyfriend’s gym buddy’s neighbor’s hair stylist’s bartender’s dog walker’s extra-in-the-show-he’s-doing heard that Anderson Cooper, Kathy Griffin, or Tina Fey (age 60) said this or that which was supposedly, allegedly, probably proof Governor Palin is anti-gay.
It’s ridiculous.
I know Governor Palin is aware of this garbage, and knows full well the irrational hatred directed at her from places like Boystown…and yet the Governor continues to maintain that the federal government has no business limiting the rights and freedoms of gay citizens because they are gay, and the Governor continues to hold no blanket negative feelings toward gays despite all the venom directed against her from gay ranks.
Governor Palin is remarkable.
So is Sushannah Walshe for writing this piece and forcing people to honestly discuss the Governor’s treatment of and positions towards gays.
Please read this important article on the topic.

HILARIOUS.

Rush Limbaugh talking about Governor Sarah Palin mopping the floor with Obama in 2012
Honestly, those of you who can’t visualize this for yourselves are just foolish: when Governor Palin becomes the GOP presidential nominee in 2012, she honest to goodness will mop the floor with Obama just as Rush Limbaugh says.
She will pull no punches.
Every day, she will smack Obama hard on something.
She will mock him mercilessly.
She will not just be “Reagan in a skirt”, but Ronald Reagan will ultimately be called “Sarah Palin in a suit”.
It’s gonna happen, you betcha.

Hallelujah Chorus from Quinhagak, Alaska
Governor Palin posted this delightful version of Handel’s Hallelujah, as performed by the Quinhagak, Alaska choir.
Every day something new makes me want to visit Alaska…usually originating with something the Governor posts on her Facebook page.
Speaking of which, don’t forget there are episodes of Sarah Palin’s Alaska on TLC tonight.
Ain’t nobody making TV shows about, or pining to visit, Michigan, Massachusetts, Utah, or any of the other states Mittens Romney calls “home”.
Funny how that works.
