Today Florida Judge Roger Vinson may deliver another blow to Obamacare
Federal Judge Roger Vinson looks like he might issue his Obamacare ruling today.
The federal government does not have the authority to compel citizens to purchase things.
The unconstitutional and reckless law Democrats rammed through Congress in 2009, without many of them even reading it, is predicated on the federal government forcing people against their will to buy things.
As we’ve said here before time and again, if Obamacare is allowed to stand, then where do Democrats stop in terms of forcing people to buy things?
Do you honestly believe they wouldn’t use this precedent to require citizens purchase other goods from private companies…such as goods that are made by union shops so that the unions get richer, which means more contributions to the Democrat Party?
Hopefully, Vinson will rein in this madness today.
It won’t be the end of Obamacare, but it will be yet another rebuke that reaffirms the belief that, no, the federal government CANNOT force you to buy things against your will.
It was never given that ability, it does not have that ability, and it will never have that ability.
Awaiting Vinson’s take on this with great interest.
Cocktail Party GOP establishment’s major vulnerability: ethanol subsidies and Iowa vote-buying
Here’s a great article on how much Newt Gingrich has pushed ethanol subsidies through the years.
Four of every ten rows of corn are currently (and stupidly) wasted as ethanol additives in gasoline.
This makes the gasoline less effective, wears on the motor, causes more pollution, and requires more fossil fuels to be used in the whole process because the machines used to plant, tend, and harvest the corn all run on — wait for it — GASOLINE.
Ethanol is a giant scam cooked up to enrich agribusiness and make Iowa voters happy.
Since Iowa is the first presidential nominating contest, and the Media loves the idea of ethanol, the Cocktail Party GOP establishment pushes ethanol even more than Democrats do.
Bad science and political motivations are 100% behind this.
Newt Gingrich is one of the biggest offenders. There is actually footage of him and Nancy Pelosi sitting on a couch together, outside of Congress, talking about how much the two of them love ethanol.
If only they’d both start drinking it together, too.
Purple Action Item: Brainstorm how to prevent the Media from picking the GOP’s 2012 nominee
The media picks the Republicans’ presidential nominee, intending to install a GOP candidate that will lose to whichever Democrat is running that year.
They even tried to do this with George W. Bush in 2000, believing Al Gore would carry Arkansas and Tennessee and best Bush for the presidency (since the Media thought Bush was so dumb, and would lose to Gore since he was such a cowboy easily caricatured by them).
1996 was the big push for the “it’s his turn!” Bob Dole, with another “it’s his turn!” run by John McCain in 2008.
For 2012, the Media’s already pushing “it’s his turn!” perpetual candidate Mittens Romney, and other straight-out-0f-central-casting lifeless, stale, Cocktail Party GOP establishment soggy sandwiches who may be nice enough guys (polite to the last), but who don’t have it in them to inspire the massive grassroots network that will be needed to overcome the Media’s planned unprecedented push for Obama’s re-election.
If you thought their efforts on Obama’s behalf in 2008 were no-holds-barred, just wait until the media launches its scheme to guarantee the “historic and unprecedented first black president’s” re-election. They know very well that our culture judges one-term American presidents largely as failures, and that Bill Clinton is the only Democrat to win re-election since Roosevelt. The stakes will be very high, thus, in 2012…and 50% of the Left’s Obama re-election plan is making sure he’s put up against a Republican the Media has a strategy for destroying.
Try as they might, they just can’t destroy Governor Sarah Palin, and they know it. She’ll take whatever they throw at her, the way she always does, and will absolutely wipe the floor with Obama, as Rush Limbaugh repeatedly points out.
To start our “Purple Team” efforts to help Governor Palin, let’s start by brainstorming ways we can prevent the Media from picking the 2012 GOP nominee.
Part of this is researching how the Media has picked GOP candidates before, both in presidential races, but also at the state and local level. Let’s find examples of the Media getting away with this, where favorable coverage in a primary pushed a losing general election candidate over the threshold and guaranteed a win for the Democrat.
I don’t think most conservatives realize this happens over and over again. The Cocktail Party GOP establishment clearly doesn’t see what’s going on. When I read the comments on sites like Redstate or Ace of Spades, I’m often struck by how naive some of the posters are, when they say things like, “Mitch Daniels is great for 2012 because nobody can say a bad word about him. He’s a nice man and the media loves him. There’s no way they will rip him apart or make him look bad, he’s just done too good of a job as governor in Indiana and people like him too much”.
Seriously.
I’ve seen too many comments written to that ridiculous effect.
It’s like the guys who write that stuff have amnesia…because this is the garbage they said about John McCain becoming the 2008 nominee. That the Media loved him. That the Media would never say a bad word about him. That reporters liked him and that would guarantee fair coverage.
These people are delusional.
Start thinking of ways we can, collectively, inspire conservatives across the country to break this cycle and start looking at a Republican 2012 candidate the Media can’t break, can’t destroy, instead of the mythical Republican the Media would love and respect so much they’d never dream of giving bad coverage to…because that person just doesn’t exist, no matter how much these fanboys want that person to.
And it’s sure as Hell not Mitch Daniels.

UPDATE: No sooner did I post the above when I noticed someone caught the media pushing Jon Huntsman for the 2012 Republican nomination today.
http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/01/barack-obama-braces-for-jon-huntsman.html
Part of the Purple Team will be a concerted effort to record the full picture of the Media’s quest to push one of these men to the 2012 nomination instead of Governor Palin. There’s about seven of these guys the Media actively provides love-letter-grade positive coverage to, in hopes that conservatives will say, “Palin is too polarizing. We should go with someone who is beloved, like that guy Huntsman. No one hates him. Now, let’s eat our cucumber and mayonnaise sandwiches and compliment each other’s blazers at this cocktail party reception because we are so clever, now that we found a candidate the Media loves, instead of that mean old polarizing Palin”.
“Polarizing” is a word the Leftist media invented to take down female candidates it doesn’t want to win.
Especially while, with the other hand, pushing forward losing males the Media relentlessly praises, so that idiots at cocktail parties can engage in dialogue like that above.
How can we create a tracking system that really highlights what the Media is up to with this, so that anyone looking at it can see right through this garbage?
People with great presentation and organizational skills, please chime in now.
Minnesota Ground Report – what are people saying about Obama there?
Dear HillBuzz,
I thought I could send an idea of what it is like here in Minnesota. We used to be a VERY blue state, but except for Governor Dayton (blech), we have turned red in the House and Senate. I hope that helps us!
Most people that I hear talking about politics just hate Obama. Even people I know who voted for him in 2008 think he is a terrible president. I haven’t heard any glowing talk anywhere here about Obama specifically. I have been out at Restaurants and have heard almost everyone talking politics and concern for our country, their businesses, etc. I have never heard talk like this in the general public ever before. People are clearly worried!
I am working on a degree as an adult student and I attend a very liberal college in Minneapolis. I dread when the discussions turn political because it just makes me cranky to hear all the liberals, especially the younger students who think that because they spent a semester abroad, they know and care about the world so much more than those evil Republicans.
Last weekend, in one of my classes, the talk went to the media coverage of the Tucson shootings. One student brought up the firing of Keith Olbermann and said that now he supposed MSNBC will be like FOX News. Many other students dumped on FOX news and how they have a clear agenda. (UGH, like MSNBC doesn’t???!!!). Then we had to break off into groups of 4. The group I was in is clearly liberal. Somehow the discussion turned to Michelle Bachmann, although there was no reason for this. A woman mentioned that Michelle was on the Today show and when Viera asked Bachmann to explain why she supported the repeal of Obama care and that it would raise the deficit that Bachmann refused to answer. She evaded the question. The woman in my class said, “Why do people listen to her, she is such an idiot”. A man in our group said that he could explain it because he grew up in her district and the people there are politically uninformed. They have no idea what is going on in the world and they just blindly vote for Bachmann because they never even know who is running against her. OMG! I rolled my eyes. I hadn’t seen the interview so I didn’t comment. Then the conversation went to Palin and how stupid she is. I said, “I’ve never heard her say anything stupid. She seems much more knowledgeable than Obama”. The response, “crickets”. We got back to class discussion and the Professor was talking about how you can tell people are lying because they talk faster, etc. One student said, “Oh is that why Glenn Beck talks so fast, because he lies?” So I said, “Be careful there, (sarcastically) I am one of those Right Wing Extremists and I happen to love Glenn Beck!” Well, that shut down the political talk for the rest of class.
This weekend, I had class again. I noticed that when the talk went to politics, the instructor said, “Well, let’s move off of that topic” and went on to a new topic. No more political talk this week.
College is the only place where I encounter any liberals. I have taken some political classes and the classes have been pretty split between liberals and conservatives, but in any psych or communication classes, either I am the lone conservative or the others are afraid to speak up. I don’t make a secret that I am a conservative and don’t like Obama and his administration. I am going to try to educate some people, but time is limited. I will do my best!
I work at a hospital and the people there have always been pretty liberal and 2008 was torture for me and a coworker because we had to listen to a lot of Obama love back then and even Sarah Palin hate. I do not hear anyone there in love with Obama anymore. I also notice people have softened some about Palin. They still attack Bachman though. I always tell people that I LOVE Bachmann because she is a true patriot and she can take all the crap spewed at her and I admire that. I respect her for fighting for our country and standing up for herself and speaking without fear. That immediately shuts her haters down. I don’t care what they think of me. Everyone in the office knows I am very political and can’t stand Obama, but love Palin and Bachmann and they do sometimes say, “Hey, I’m not very informed about things, but I heard…” and they want me to fill them in because they know I am politically tuned in. Usually it is about Healthcare reform or another topic and I give them my opinion, but also send them to links (sometimes Hillbuzz) so they can check it out for themselves.
BTW, the majority of people I work with are against Obamacare, especially the doctors. Many of them are planning to get out of the field of medicine because they are sick and tired of the bureaucracy they deal with and they know it has gotten much worse. They also do not feel they can care for their patients the way they want to and need to with the Government takeover and they want nothing to do with it. It is a nightmare and the end of the best healthcare in the world.
I know many people who like me, who used to be Democrats, but are Democrats no longer. Now most in my circle are Conservatives and attend Tea Party rallies so I have hope that MN can fend off the few true liberals who are left here!!

Andrew Breitbart on Pigford developments
H/t Hotair for the video clips, and more on this story.
As investigations get underway in the new Republican Congress, you are going to hear more and more about Pigford.
This massive looting of the Treasury goes all the way up to the White House, and Obama’s 2008 campaign, which openly promised “Obama money” to blacks who would support him over the Clintons in places like South Carolina. Essentially, candidate Obama promised that if they backstabbed the Clintons and went with him instead, that he would crack open the Treasury and hand out Pigford bribes to blacks who helped him outmaneuver Hillary.
He kept his promise, because he needs these people if he hopes to mount a re-election bid in 2012.
The media does not want to report on any of this, but Breitbart is a dog with a bone when it comes to this story.
American Thinker: NOW Goes Shark-Jumping, by Betsy M. Galliher
Here’s a great piece over at American Thinker today, called “NOW Goes Shark-Jumping” by Betsy M. Galliher, dealing with the fact that many people affiliated with NOW seem to have a real and chronic problem with strong women, if they themselves are not the strong women being praised.
NOW is for the most part a collection of Mean Girls.
In 2008, these were the women who stabbed Hillary Clinton in the back and helped to derail the presidential campaign of the first female candidate who had a real shot at the White House. Many at NOW decided they wanted to have a biracial black male president instead, because that was better for their Leftist bona fides.
After they helped stop Hillary, they turned their attention to defeating the first female vice presidential candidate on the Republican ticket, because that too helped a biracial male who identifies as black.
Do you see a pattern here?
When presented with an opportunity — any opportunity — to rally around a woman who has it all (career, family, ability to hold her own and thrive in a male dominated field) NOW largely joins those pulling her down, out of what appears to be a basic and petty jealousy amongst the highest ranking members of the organization.
Read Galliher’s article, and really think about that, because it happens to more women than just Hillary and Palin.

ACTION TEAMS:
Today is the last day of January 2011.
Time flies.
Fast.
Before we know it, it’s going to be January 2012, and by this time next year both the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries will be over (Republicans don’t have a Caucus, like Democrats do). We will never get 2011 back again, and in 2012, we are all going to wish we worked just a little harder in these days to lay the groundwork for the defeat of the Left in November 2012.
I don’t know how your New Year’s Resolutions are working out, but I want to invite you to share in mine. The one thing I really want to accomplish in 2011 is to get the HB Action Teams up and running in a solid way that will give people coast to coast ideas for things they can each do, every day, that cost very little to nothing and all sum together to drive the Left nuts on an ongoing basis.
This is the role HB is going to focus on, because there are certainly enough political sites out there…there are plenty of news sites…but there’s no one out there giving people ideas for things they can do in real time, every day, that will do what the Cocktail Party GOP establishment has never wanted to do (or been capable of doing): take down the Left and metaphorically burn the Leftist-controlled Democrat Party to the ground, largely using their own tricks and tools against them.
So, my New Year’s Resolution was to redesign HB and take it to the next level, with the ACTION TEAMS focus at its core. It’s a lot of work getting into the rhythm of queuing up a new ACTION ITEM every day in the various categories we want to hit, so until I am in that groove, some of these might be repeated for a few days in a row, but some of them might need to be repeated (like a letter writing campaign or a research project that builds upon what’s found from day to day). As long as you keep chiming in with good ideas, we can keep improving things together, until we become a well-oiled little machine whose focus is directed at driving the Left and Cocktail Party GOP establishment crazy.
Moving forward, our motto is “Political Analysis, Action, and Adventure” around here. I will keep churning out as much content a day as possible and will try to be as funny and entertaining as I can be, every day, to hold people’s interests and make them smile…but the big goal here is to get people to start picking up phones, start writing letters to the editor and their elected officials, start finding ways to spread information in their communities, and to get off the couch, put down the Pepsi, and really rattle the Left and the Cocktail Party GOP establishment like never before. None of these people have ever come up against conservatives who are engaged, active, and using creative methods to ridicule the establishment and call the Left out on its hypocrisy and Alinksy tactics.
I think if we do this, and if the Action Teams become the force to be reckoned with I know they can be, together we can become that little variable that will help Governor Pali’s presidential campaign in ways her official organization will never be able to do. She can totally disavow our efforts if she needs to, and she can take the best ideas we have and run with them as her own. Whatever will help Governor Palin become our next President, so she can fulfill the mission I think she’s been sent on, to save our country.
Today is the first attempt at incorporating the Action Teams into the day’s content on an ongoing, regular basis. Each of these ideas is there for you to participate in, as much as you like. If you don’t like writing letters, then you don’t need to participate in the Red Team’s efforts. If you don’t like Research, then you don’t have to chime in on Blue Team threads. If you want, you can help with every one of these little projects…and suggest new ones of your own in the appropriate slots. There is no pressure to do anything at all, however. You can be a bystander and just a reader if you want, too, though I hope you will share these ideas and opportunities for action with people you know who will in fact participate and put energy into them.
I just want to make sure there is something to do every day for people who want to be active and not let a single day between now and 2012 go to waste. I want to give people the chance to help this country no matter what sort of talent that person has. I’ve met so many people in the almost three years of running HB that say “I just don’t know what I can do, I am just one person”.
Well, there’s a rainbow of options for things you can do every day here on HB. Take a look at one of them and try an Action Team on for size and see how it fits. Make use of the awesome abilities God has given you, and put them to use for our country, as the backup reinforcements that support the good people in elected office like Governor Palin, Congressman Allen West, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Governor Jan Brewer, and other HB favorites who talk the talk while walking the walk.
This is going to be a lot of work, but I am going to put my heart and soul into making it as much fun as possible. I have successfully roped every talented person I know in life into this effort. This is our watch, our stand against the Left, and we are going all-in with it. Every day.
So, get used to seeing the ACTION ITEMS colorful graphics sprinkled throughout regular posts. The new site will have a very convenient and easy way to check up on the latest items for each of the colors, so until that new site launches, we’re going to have to keep making do the way we always have. The new site is going to be a dramatic evolutionary step for us here…like taking something we cobbled together without knowing what we were doing, at a grade school level, and having it remastered into something sleek and professional and world-class. I want to hit the ground running the instant the tech team gets the new HillBuzz site online, so pardon the dust in the meantime and start thinking about the things you want to do each day that are a step up from just reading about the news…the step you can take to IMPACTING politics through activism that is tailor made for what you like to do and what gifts God has given you.
Let’s not waste a single day or cede a solitary moment to the Left, because we all know ACORN, the Union thugs, and the rest of Obama’s outfit are working hard behind the scenes to re-elect him, while the Cocktail Party GOP establishment dithers as usual and the lamestream media works overtime to do Obama’s bidding. I hope our efforts here inspire (or shame, as need be) other, bigger, more important conservative sites to step up their own efforts, too, and stop pontificating and back-patting enough to find ways to get more active as well.
Maybe if a little political analysis site in Boystown steps it up, others will be forced to as well, whether they particularly want to or not.
