Where I grew up in Cleveland, there is a beloved local weatherman named Dick Goddard who every year hosts “The Wooly Bear Festival” that draws people from several counties’ over to see him in a parade covered in fake orange and brown caterpillars (those are the “wooly bears”, which are sort of like sea monkeys in northeastern Ohio in terms of the fantastically imaginative fantasy world that’s created for them to live in and the attention they’re lavished).
A decade or so ago, Goddard occasionally appeared in newscasts with oddly heavy makeup and he’d seem out of it from time to time, like he was injured somehow. He’d be fine one day, and then the next he’d limp around or have trouble focusing. It was disconcerting because the man is a kind of surrogate Grandpa or favorite Uncle to the entire Greater Cleveland area.
One of the competing local stations started looking into it and they discovered he was being abused by his wife Amber, who was beating him. In one of the cruelest ambushes I’ve ever seen on local TV, the rival station’s reporters surprised Goddard at his home and asked him if his wife beat him and wouldn’t take the camera out of his face. He was clearly bruised and battered and was in tears that the whole world knew what was happening to him.
John Kerry looks exactly like that in the recent photos that show him recovering from a “hockey injury”. If you remember shots of Kerry windsurfing and “hunting” during the 2004 election, you’ll join me in scoffing at this effete, spoiled man strapping on a pair of skates, grabbing a stick, and willingly entering into a hockey game. Now, if he’d claimed he’d smashed his face on the ice while FIGURE SKATING, I’d buy it. But the hockey story is as believable as Dick Goddard back in Cleveland claiming he “kept falling down” when his wife was really beating him.
Is Teresa Heinz-Kerry beating her husband?
She’s shown she’s unstable and has a real temper — and John Kerry seems like he’d be a real pill to have to deal with every day. Is it out of the realm of possibility that she did this to him?
Please don’t think this is anything to laugh at, because spousal abuse is a serious matter and it indeed can happen in marriages where the female is the abuser.
The other possibility is that something strange and terrible happened that Kerry was involved in and the hockey story is just a lame cover. My boyfriend Justin’s parents are big conspiracy buffs and remain convinced that something bad happened to President Bush during his first term when he claimed he choked on a pretzel and fell down and hit his head in the private quarters of the White House while watching a football game. Remember how weird that was?
The man was so rugged and outdoorsy, it seemed so bizarre to imagine him choking on a snack food and hurting himself like that. Justin’s parents think there was some incident the Secret Service covered up — or that Laura hurt him after he’d made her mad (making it less embarrassing to say he choked on a pretzel and hit his head than to say his wife beat him). Justin’s parents think he was hurt while Secret Service hurled him down into the bunker below the White House during either a terrorism near-miss we never were informed about or one of the practice drills they run for getting the President to safety in an emergency (which Justin’s parents insist the White House would never talk about, as they don’t discuss the security plans). So they made up the thing about a pretzel and the coffee table to explain his bruises.
This is just one of those moments when the explanation for why a public figure is all battered and bruised just doesn’t feel right. Maybe Kerry was involved in some sort of Congressional security drill and was bumped into something as his security detail threw him into a car or something to simulate his evacuation protocol.
UPDATE: Consensus now seems to be that this was plastic surgery that John Kerry recently had.
I also had another thought after watching an episode of the TV show “Body of Proof” on Hulu this afternoon — it was an episode where Dana Delaney’s crime-solving medical examiner’s character deduced that a murdered bride had a Botox treatment at her bachelorette party.
One of her bridesmaids secretly hated her and gave her an aspirin after the treatment — which is something that affects the clotting of blood and causes bruising where the Botox was administered. The woman who did this was a nurse and knew that the aspirin would cause the bride to sport black, raccoon eyes on her wedding day.
Could someone have slipped Kerry aspirin after his latest round of Botox?
That sounds like something Teresa would do, doesn’t it? Maybe she also saw that episode of “Body of Proof” and wanted to see if it was real.
I’m a libertarian, so I’ve always had plenty of policy differences with George W. Bush. But no matter his big-spending failings, I have never for a moment doubted that George W. Bush and his luminous wife Laura love the United States of America with their whole hearts and souls.
This news story encapsulates everything that was right about President George W. Bush, and everything that is wrong with the current Narcissist-In-Chief.
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. This is that picture:
As reported in the Cincinnati Enquirer on May 6, 2004,
“In a moment largely unnoticed by the throngs of people in Lebanon waiting for autographs from the president of the United States, George W. Bush stopped to hold a teenager’s head close to his heart.
Lynn Faulkner, his daughter, Ashley, and their neighbor, Linda Prince, eagerly waited to shake the president’s hand Tuesday at the Golden Lamb Inn. He worked the line at a steady campaign pace, smiling, nodding and signing autographs until Prince spoke: “This girl lost her mom in the World Trade Center on 9-11.”
Bush stopped and turned back. “He changed from being the leader of the free world to being a father, a husband and a man,” Faulkner said. “He looked right at her and said, ‘How are you doing?’ He reached out with his hand and pulled her into his chest.”
Faulkner snapped one frame with his camera. […]
“The way he was holding me, with my head against his chest, it felt like he was trying to protect me,” Ashley said. “I thought, ‘Here is the most powerful guy in the world, and he wants to make sure I’m safe.’ I definitely had a couple of tears in my eyes, which is pretty unusual for me.”
“I’m a pretty cynical and jaded guy at this point in my life,” Faulkner said of the moment with the president. “But this was the real deal. I was really impressed. It was genuine and from the heart.””
Thank you, Mr. President, for your concern, compassion and human decency.
Tomorrow is a very tough day for a great many people.
Can you please say some prayers, tonight and tomorrow, for everyone coast to coast who had a friend or family member who was murdered by Islam ten years ago?
“The Religion of Peace” murdered a good friend of mine, who was one of the bravest, boldest, and most interesting people the world has ever known. Until Muslims murdered her.
She wasn’t “lost”. She didn’t “pass away”. And she wasn’t “killed”.
She was murdered. By Muslims. In New York City.
And ten years later I still refuse to let the agenda-driven media and Islamapologists in the Left claim otherwise.
I don’t think I need to ask what’s on your mind this evening or what people are talking about, but here’s an open thread for you to reflect on what you remember about September 10th, 2001…before the world changed forever and in so many cases, great friends were gone for good.
President Bush and the Marine Corps Band reminds us the 45th President will, also, respect and love our military. YOU BETCHA.
If we work hard, in two years Obama will be gone and a President who love this country and our military will be in the White House.
Remember that every day that goes by, and ask yourself what YOU can do to help defeat Obama and the Left.
One word: gorgeous.
Okay, more words: I will forever regret, for the rest of my life, not appreciating these two wonderful people when they lived in the White House.
Last word: Great Merciful Zeus, Laura Bush looks AMAZING.
George H. W. and Barbara Bush spent Christmas in 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1992 at Camp David — all four years of Bush-41’s presidency.
George W. and Laura Bush spent Christmas in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 at Camp David — all eight years of Bush-43’s presidency.
Barack and Michelle Antoinette Obama spend Christmas in Hawaii, tearing White House staff, Secret Service agents, and reporters away from their Washington-based families so the Obamas can enjoy a tropical vacation at immense taxpayer expense. In the middle of a depression.
More holiday-themed Class vs. Crass here.
Kind of says it all, doesn’t it?
The Clintons spent their first Christmas as President in Hilton Head, which they quickly acknowledged was a mistake. Not only did the press savage them for leaving the White House (and forgoing Camp David) during the holidays, but they personally felt bad that they tore their staff and protection away from their families on Christmas. So, they spent the rest of their Christmases in office in the White House (except the year they went to Sarajevo to spend Christmas with US troops stationed there during the Balkan War).
The Bushes’ family tradition was to spend Christmas at Camp David, so that their staff and protection could be near their families on this special day. Bush the father instilled this tradition in his son, George W., who carried it on during his own presidency. The Bushes spent a combined 12 Christmases at Camp David.
The Reagans spent every Christmas in the White House so his staff and protection could enjoy the holiday with their families. Soon after the holidays, the Reagans took a vacation to their ranch in California…AFTER the people who worked for him were able to enjoy their family time. The Reagans owned the ranch, and paid to have it transformed into a Western White House with no cost to taxpayers.
Every year, the Obamas essentially tell the people who work in the White House to “go f*** themselves”, since the Obamas demand to be entertained and lavished with unimaginable luxuries in tropical Hawaii (instead of Chicago, where Obama is supposedly “from”, depending on what political points he wants to score that day).
In 2010, Michelle Antoinette Obama cost US taxpayers an extra $63,000 to entertain her, by demanding a private flight to Hawaii a few days before her husband was able to make the trip. She just couldn’t wait to get away from Washington. Other massive expenses for entertaining the Obamas in paradise are detailed here.
In 2013, when these people are out of the White House and living in Hawaii full time (where the Obama Presidential Library will be built), Michelle Antoinette can spend every Christmas there, hopefully on her own dime.
UPDATE: H/t Ace of Spades for more on this
For more Class vs. Crass examples of how the Obamas compare to the first families before them, click here.
Honestly, of all the things we do here at HillBuzz, the one that makes the Left howl the most is when we just simply illustrate, side by side, the behavior of the Obamas compared to the people who lived in the White House before them. Those simple images of the Obamas behaving terribly, wasting taxpayer money, and making asses of themselves just resonate with Americans on a basic level when juxtaposed with facts about other first families.
This crass behavior is historic and unprecedented. There has never been people living in the White House who behave this way, with such contempt and disregard for the American people and American way of doing things.
The Obamas are truly alien in every sense of the word.
If you remind people of what the norm for presidents and their spouses has been and should be, and directly contrast that with the Obamas, the Left goes insane…because they know there is no defense of what the Obamas are doing to this country.
While sticking YOU with the bill!
BRAINSTORM: How do we hold Democrats to their own standards in regards to these TSA gropings and Internet seizings?
Remember your Alinsky Rules for Radicals…the Bible of the Democrat party.
Just imagine a world where George W. Bush, his father, or President Reagan initiated invasive acts of government like the TSA gropings and nude photo shoots and the Homeland Security seizures of private property in the form of websites.
What would the Left and the Democrat Party have done in response?
Remember: one of the key rules of Alinsky is to hold your opponent’s words and past actions against them…to force them to hold themselves to an impossible standard in this position.
We all know that if any Republican president presided over fascist acts of unconstitutional government abuse of power such as what Obama has engaged in the Left and the Democrats would be howling and mounting a massive opposition to this.
Since Democrats are now using tactics they would have condemned Bush for, Democrats need to pay a heavy political price for this…they have become in real life exactly what they have always painted Republican boogeymen to be in their most warped and delusional fantasies.
How can this be turned against Democrats and the Left?
How can it further erode their support not just amongst moderates and Independents, but amongst Leftists as well…since it takes some Olga Corbett-grade mental gymnastics to reconcile Obama’s current behavior with the very worst of what the Left always accused Bush of WANTING to do it given the chance.
Well, Obama has now surpassed anything Bush was ever accused of WANTING to do…so where is the political price for the White House and the Left now that this is our reality?
I think one of my favorite happenstances in American history is the close friendship Bill Clinton developed with George W. Bush and how George H. W. and Barbara Bush ended up playing kind of a surrogate dad and mom role for Clinton, whose parents are both gone.
It’s remarkable, really.
This is more proof for people that the Clintons and the Bushes are not wild, blind partisans…but are Americans first. They are also good people.
Who like each other.
I know I am not the only one who can easily envision Clinton and Bush adopting a new “sister” in two years as well when Governor Palin becomes President.
"With a character and approach somewhere in between" – who does that sound like? Hint: it's Sarah Palin
The best part of this article is the end.
It notes that Obama was elected because people convinced themselves they hated George W. so much.
Now that they see how inept Obama is, the person to replace him will be someone who remedies all of his dithering, all of his un-American weakness…but who also is a better speaker, more charismatic, and more media savvy than Bush was.
That person is Governor Sarah Palin.
More conservative and forceful than Bush…tougher and more patriotic than Obama could ever be.
She is the exact person with “a character and approach” somewhere in between these two men.
On the scene just when she is needed most.
Our 45th President.
