MASSACHUSETTS GROUND REPORT
Dear HillBuzz,
Most of the talk that I hear among friends here in Massachusetts is not about our statewide races, but about our Congressional and local ones. I hear Sean Bielat is surging to within the margin of error against Barney, and a guy named Jon Golnik is getting great support and lots of endorsements in his race against Nikki Tsongas, north of Boston. The whole state is practically begging voters in the 4th to retire Barney, but the district is drawn to be virtually bullet-proof for Dems, and Barney rolled home from Washington with pockets overflowing with pork, so this is a real battle.
NORTH CAROLINA GROUND REPORT
I am not a resident of Northeastern North Carolina, but my brother-in-law, Rich Halbert, is running for state senate in District 4, and I just returned from a week of campaigning for him there.
TEXAS GROUND REPORT
Dear HillBuzz,
I don’t really have a whole heck of a lot to talk about for an update from the Live Music Capitol of the World that Austin prides itself on being. The races here in Texas don’t figure to be cliff hangers. The shock would be if they can find enough dead people and SEIU voting machines outside of Houston to pack the ballot box for Bill White to take the governorship. I did see my first Rick Perry sign on a lawn today, but if I understand it correctly the Gov is only passing out signs for people who want to pay for them. Dunno, just a rumor I heard, but could account for the lack of Perry signs. Then again, this is Austin. I think the only people who admit to knowing Rick here is Hill’s Cafe on South Congress, where you can sit in the Rick & Anita Perry booth. Actually I prefer the Willie Nelson booth, but it’s usually taken. Great food, regardless of whose booth you get to sit in.
INTERNATIONAL GROUND REPORT: SWITZERLAND
Dear HillBuzz,
How politically clueless are Europeans? Let me me count the ways . . .
Here’s a follow-up to my earlier Ground Report. This time, the focus is the Zurich area.
INTERNATIONAL GROUND REPORT: CANADA
Dear HillBuzz,
As a resident of British Columbia, I obviously cannot report on a particular state or candidate, but I hope my conservative Canadian perspective on the 2010 election will be informative for your readers.

INDIANA GROUND REPORT
Dear HillBuzz,
The most prominent race here in Southern Indiana is between Brad Ellsworth (D) and Dan Coats (R) for the Senate. There’s palpable anger here over Ellsworth, who claims to be a Blue Dog Dem but voted for the Stimulus, ObamaCare (BEFORE Obama appeased Sestak with the abortion executive order), and anything else Pelosi told him to. People are especially angry that he refused to hold Town Halls over ObamaCare – and that when they called his office to tell him they were against it, his staff actually ARGUED with them and told them why they were wrong.
NEW YORK STATE GROUND REPORT
Dear HillBuzz,
I live in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of upstate NY, a handful of miles outside of the liberal bastion of Ithaca, home of Cornell University – an Ivy League darling. Ithaca is fondly known by denizens of both sides of the aisle as “10 Square Miles Surrounded By Reality.”
