Sunday Open Thread: May 30th, 2010

Posted on May 30, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s on your minds this Sunday?

What are people talking about in your part of the country?

What are you doing tomorrow to honor those in uniform on Memorial Day?

*******************************************************

Can you help us solve a mystery?

It’s the “Case of the Unticketable Car”, and we ran a post on this yesterday we want you to read if you didn’t catch it.

What we need now are the names, phone numbers, email, and mailing addresses for everyone you can think of who needs to know about a “Do Not Ticket” list that’s apparently out there in the City of Chicago.  As the comments in the Second City Cop thread indicate, this appears to be much bigger than just this one BMW in a yellow curb zone in Boystown.

If there really is a list of cars that the Parking Meter people aren’t allowed to ticket, because they are VIPs of some kind, then the public needs to be made aware of this so that everyone and their mothers can apply to be on this “Do Not Ticket” list too.  Those of you in other states should apply as well, just in case you ever drive to Chicago, so that you won’t get any tickets and will be free to park anywhere you like as well.

How do we get the light shined on this “Do Not Ticket” list?

Ideas?

Okay, I need someone…someone who is much more in tune with the Clintons than I…to take me gently by the hand and show me what is going on. For the life of me I cannot fathom why Bill Clinton would ‘take the fall’ for this job offer business. It has long and repeatedly been covered that BC abhors BHO and more or less vowed to do anything to oppose him….so why this? As a ‘non-Clinton’ fan it simply escapes me. Why would he put his name, and his neck, out there for this? I absolutely do not get it. What possible gain could either he or HRC gain from this???

I’m not a Clintonista either but from what I can tell Bill is helping Oboy commit political suicide. He can claim to be a disinterested third party delivering a message to Sestak as a favor to the rainbow brigade then sit back as the fecal matter impacts the rotary air impeller.

No, the press was kept at a distance on Friday. I saw a clip. Reporters were yelling their questions but President Clinton acted like he didn’t hear them.

I hear ya all about the possible payoff, I do, but it has ever seemed to me that at the end of the day his ‘legacy’ was the most important thing to him. How can this adventure possible fit well into that. Even with the thought of big bucks it still makes no sense at all to me for him to do this. Unless Rahm has a mighty big stick of dynamite he is hanging over his head…or maybe Hillary’s.

Ok, I’m going to ask a question that I don’t think I’ve heard anyone ask yet. How do you KNOW that he hates Oblahblah? We assume he does because of stealing the nomination from Hillary. But… do we have any proof of that? I see both Clintons coming out again and again the past year praising what Obama and the D congress is doing, – ON THEIR OWN. In other words, not just because they had to. We are assuming it is because of some threat that O is holding over their heads; we assume that the C’s hate O. But…. ok, I know this may be hard to swallow… but… is it at all possible that we are putting our own thoughts into the C’s heads? That we think this way, and therefore assume they do as well? What PROOF do we have that they think this way? O has achieved what they wanted to achieve- the healthcare plan. He has achieved other things that the Clintons wanted to do. I, honestly, have my doubts if they really DO hate him. I would like to see some concrete proof of that. If there is no proof, I think all this is nothing more than wishful thinking on our part.

Well there have been many accountings of things he has said about the filthy liar in various books/articles/blogs since the election. I can’ spout them off the top of my head, but they have been plentiful enough that I tend to believe. I will have to do a bit of research to give you links…and I will. Hopefully someone else will have a ready list to post here in the meantime.

Well, I hope they aren’t from prior to the primaries in 08. You know as well as I do that those who are “professional politicians” love to say how much they hate the one they are running against; but after the primaries if they are in the same political party it’s all a big love-fest. In other words, much of the hate during the primaries is a sham…. just to beat out the other guy.

I’m not a big Clinton fan myself, and I have been wondering the same thing. The only thing I’ve come up with is that this may be the ticket for Hilary to get out of this administration. HB, who do have more of an inside view of the Clintons, have been saying for several months that they think she will find a way to get out of her job by fall of this year; possibly she will want to start another bid to run against Obama. I tend to think this viewpoint makes sense, and this may just be the way for her to do it.

we need underwater submarine units that can be manned and capable of providing a working connection between oil/gas well head and the well head be actually a station that a submarine can dock to and off load technicians to work on blowout preventer equipment that would be housed inside a dock able well head tool house .
This would allow for a human to access the equipment and perform necessary Maintenance in routine manner and allow for a better installation process when installing blowout preventers and maintaining the equipment on the oceans floor
This could be a joint Effort that Oil Companies together create this line of maintenance equipment to be more efficient in the management of off shore drilling operations .
Big Human operated Submarine Dock able well head tool houses that can house blow out preventer equipment that humans can get inside of and perform Maintenance is a way to have a controllable environment that is placed in the location with the submarine that will transport tooling parts and personnel to and from the dock able well head tool house on the oceans floor .

Too deep for humans. There are experimental systems that would work except for the small problems like breathing oxygenated liquid flourine compounds http://www.crabbsac.org.uk/articles/A001.htm and the multi-day decompression required for returning from death pressure. We have remote controlled mini-subs like the the one taking the pictures but they lack the capability and fineness of control to do the work. The military term for this is FUBAR.

Ah, me. The Clintons? I’ve been holding this in for months. But, I am on a short break, and I feel compelled to post the concluding pieces from an email exchange (sans headers) I had today. My writing was hurried, and could have been better — no editing, no ellipses.

    [BEGIN COPY/PASTE]
    IN:
The clintons haven’t done anything wrong, we failed the clintons.

    MY REPLY:
WTF, “… we failed the Clintons[!]”
I don’t intend to get into an “Argue with…,” but I object to the “we,” if you believe that “I” am included.
I defended, donated, and campaigned right up to the convention and beyond, even though, as far as I am concerned, they went chicken-shit.

Immediately below, I am going to splash (off-the-cuff) a list of his/her/their failures and flubs, but first a few words about what I expect your response to be.
“but, … serving at the pleasure of….”
    Then I counter-argue.
“… first and foremost protect and defend … country before party….”

(partial list, partially ordered) their shared obsequiousness, equivocation, disingenuousness, and silence since the convention:
    Locherbie pardon
Support of the Health Scam Bill
Ignored human rights violations in China
    Abandon Poland
    Canceled European missile shield
    Abandonment and castigation of Israel
Race baiting/hustling over ‘kill the (health scam) bill’ spitting/n*r false allegations
    Ignored Iranian uprisings
    Tea Party cracks as dangerous
    Surgical nick ignored
    Libya — UN Human Rights
    Iran — UN Women Status
Pretense of not having read Arizona’s laws (immigration & education), in order to misrepresent or mischaracterize
(Posner & Huntsman) Apology to China about Arizona Immigration Law
    Lunch with Sestak
    Rich not paying enough taxes
I am going to respectfully end on that, and copy/paste the above into an emacs buffer as a reasonable starting point for a more public post at an opportune moment during election months.

    Again, best wishes.

    [END COPY/PASTE]

    And, there you have it.

The Government prints money for special interests so this should be one of them because its a renewable source thats not limited to whenever the sun shines or the wind blows , and there are no moving parts like in wind mills or lithium minerals needed in solar battery packs .

Everyone – and I mean EVERYONE – should watch the History Channel’s documentary on oil. Do you know that only 10% of a barrel of oil is used for gas/oil for vehicles? 90% of that barrel is used for other items – clothing, shingles for your roof, plastic, asphalt for roads and makeup/body items to name a few. So, to say that we should rid ourselves of oil, is almost impossible and foolish.

        fertilizer.

I know bigfarm business gets slammed by the organic crowd but truly to feed just the populace of usa in the manner we are used to in this era requires the fertilizer and pesticides from oil, not to mention the gas for the big equipment like harvester, combines, planters etc and transport to get the produce to the processing factories and stores.

For all those that think going backwards is possible, i say go work on a farm for one year and sustain a town on it…using labor and organic practices alone and see how fast they backtrack after all that labor.

Romanticize farm life all you want, but it is gruelling thankless truly 24/7 body destroying WORK.

If we had alternative fuels like Bio Algae added to the overall fuel supply we would have more crude oil for fertilizer and the Pulp from the algae is a by product that can be blended into the organic fertilizer supply and together a larger supply of energy and fertilizer would lower the overall price of these resources and with it the food prices would go down and your energy bill too .

I just finished planting all my flower pots on the deck and porch. This year I went with red, white and blue, in fact I’m going to march my butt over to the Dollar Store and pick up a bunch of flags to finish the job. If I do say so myself, it is very pretty and festive.
The Gulf Coast is very much on my mind, I wish Bobby Jindal would just go ahead and build those barriers. What could happen to him? Nothing, those folks would have his back. What a crying shame this is, heartbreaking.

I have red, white, and blue flowers on my porch today, DH is putting up the flag holder (3rd in 3 three years, darned wind), and I like your idea of getting a lot of little flags to put out. I think I’ll do that too.

I hope you don’t mind my moving this up from a prior thread:

A very respected, openly gay blogger says he knows Mark Kirk is gay and will have more after the holiday weekend.

    http://blog.blogactive.com/2010/05/mark-kirk-im-not-gay-glenn-thrush.html

The blogger, Mike Rogers, has built an excellent reputation outing gay politicians who betray their fellow gay citizens. He stands up against hypocricy.

This is a big issue now because of Kirk’s betrayal on DADT.

Alexi G. is back in this race. This is huge as it’s looking like Mark Kirk is a serial liar.

the question here is why do gays think that someone who does not vote their way is a betrayal.

Even if Kirk is gay, he probably has good reason to believe that the DADT policy should not be reversed. It is a very contentious issue.

Anyway Kirk was outed on another blog…

I’m up at the old family farm this holiday and cancelled my Hughesnet service after finally having enough of their BS.

Found a an old modem stuck in a computer and I’m utilizing my DSL account from home to run dial up (no additional cost YAY!). For the sites I go to on the intertube, its slow, but not just god awful. I feel good about not giving Hughesnet 700+ / year for crappy service with ridiculous download limits

I have high speed DSL and love it. I live next to an ATT DSL remote building, though. I actually bought my house specifically because it was next to this building because I’m a transcriptionist (speed is money). It depends mostly on how close to the DSL building your hookup is. The further away the slower it gets. I used to have cable and it’s no different.

yeah, I have ATT DSL back home and have had it for about 10 years now. Never had any problems with it.

The farm is out in the country though and the only thing available was Hughesnet which I had installed so I could work up here when I took care of my Dad right before he died.

Dial up is working okay as long as I’m not wanting to watch videos or going to a graphic intensive site.

My husband believes the WH press release on Sestak. They explained that it was an innocent offer, and he’s buying it. Arrrrggghhh! He thinks BO and Bill were well intentioned and Sestak is playing some sort of political gain. And he’s not even a BO fan, but he is a lifelong Dem. He’s too smart to be this stupid.

Something else I’d like to know about all this, did Sestak bring this up first, or did Specter? If Specter actually knows anything, this would be an excellent time for him to remember that he is a citizen of the US, not the DNC.

I would point out to your husband that the statements do not match with the responses given by Sestak when he answered the question in the first place.

Sestak said he was offered a job.

An offer for a position on a board for which Sestak is not eligible does not meet that criteria.

From my POV I think that Clinton is lying because the whole response seems to be concocted.

Also, you need to remind your husband that Clinton was in fact impeached but the Senate failed to throw him out. He was not impeached over having sex with a consenting adult. He was impeached because of his perjury. He lied under oath.

Snarlin’ Arlen can be relentless when he’s pursuing something. As I’ve said before, my hope is that he’ll figure he has nothing to lose and take them all down.

You know Boyz, you give me inspiration about the crappy results of government. I actually retired from government (city, county, & State) and have seen first hand just how totally incompetent the whole process is. I will admit I was much more tolerant while I was working – non-union I must add — but I have had the “shoe on the other foot” since that time.

The mayor & his wife owned the property next to me and was in total disrepair during the entire 15 years that I have lived there and actually sat empty for the past 10 years. That meant that the people would go into the house (it was NOT secured) and have their drug, etc parties as well as homeless people “living?” there as needed. I cannot tell you how many times there have been formal complaints against the property to the city officials. I even tried numerous times to get something done about the mess, through the proper authorities, while I worked for the city…but, I was always told “we know who owns the property” and that was the end of it. Most of the neighbors on my block were likewise ignored. Even though a new fire marshall (from out of town) sent at least two formal notices to the mayor, nothing was ever done or “followed up” on by the appropriate city officials. We all know why! — it was and is the mayor’s property, after all!

Well, the day I feared most arrived recently. The house caught on fire due to a person “illegally” in the house that caused the blaze. Since it was basically an abandoned home and property, the fire moved very quickly and was very intense…and very scary for me being next door.

I have already sought a legal opinion and have been told that it is an excellent case for suit against the city and the mayor. I have hesitated because I have to live in the city, have worked for the city and know that lawsuits are ultimately paid by the taxpayers. But the Boyz are right, those in government must be called to task for their corruption.

I am at work. Again. I would sigh, but in this economy a job is a good job. :D I recognize how fortunate I am.

I am going to retype something I posted last night but this computer is wonky and i didnt see it.

I work in a hotel. Desk clerk. My desk in the lobby is right across from the big windows into the poolroom. some days I really really love my job. Last night was one of them (we are going to skip the nights and views when I really really hate being across from the poolwindows. :D )

A nice canadian hottie sporting in the water. trotted out and across the lobby to get something from the car, then strolled on inside and started yakking with me. sigh. Tousled wet hair, drowing eyes, solid shouldners with….nevermind. Anyways the point, and I do have one hahahaha, is that we started talking about snow, snowmobiles and having fun in winter.

I mentioned just wait till Palin wins in 2012 and First Dude todd is out on the front lawn, teaching trig about maintaining your snowmobile properly, then taking him riding and laughing.

well he laughed hard and very joyfully said that would be great! Even better would be how pissed off the neighbors would get.

so I have fun slipping in pro-palin snippets periodically at work. I figure I am laying a foundation so when she does say she is running people have already encountered the idea and dont automatically stroke out. :D

That and I am a dirty old woman who likes ogling young things. In my defense he was aware of it and that is why he was parading a bit. My opinion anyways.

This is the best write-up so far on the standoff between Secret Service and Louis Farrakhan’s house. the peice of information that intrigues me is the house was found to be listed as tax exempt for a religious institution…..Can my house be a religious institution, too?

    http://www.drudgereport.com/flash1.htm

DETAILS: FARRAKHAN. PRESS ‘STAND OFF’ IN OBAMA’S NEIGHBORHOOD

    Sent: Sat May 29 21:08:47 2010
    Subject: White House Pool Report

At 7:20 local time the pool was holding at Woodlawn and 49th, next to a large sandstone mansion that the Chicago reporters say is the home of one Louis Farrakhan. Our Secret Service agent allowed us off the bus (Air!) and as a dozen of us congregated on the sidewalk, inevitably some shoes touched grass. Immediately a polite man in jeans and Tshirt emerged to ask us to stay off the grass. Though this grass was the curbside city property, we obliged.

Soon, however, he was pacing and talking on a cell phone. He went inside the mansion’s black wrought iron fence, crossed the well-landscaped yard, lifted a water bucket behind rose bushes and, voila!, a walkie-talkie. He was heard to refer to “the CIA” once he began speaking into it. Soon he approached our agent, asking him to move the van and its occupants, though your pooler could not hear much else he said. But the agent said, “How is this a security breach?” And he asked if the house was a government property.

The man said something else and at that point the agent stuck out his hand to shake hands and introduced himself as a Secret Service agent. He added, “Sir, I can assure you that we will do nothing to interfere with whatever is going on in there.”

The man is back to pacing and talking on his cell, walkie-talkie in hand.

A co-pooler searched the Internet for the address and found it listed on a Web site called NotForTourists and another called Taxexemptworld.com. Indeed, another pooler found a county Web site that confirmed this property is tax exempt for being a religious institution.

Reinforcements arrived–three men in Tshirts reading “Wide or Die!” One surly man has been staring daggers at us. Asked if this is Minister Farrakhan’s house, he just stared at your pooler. Asked again, he said, “I don’t have no comment.”

You should have the WH statement on top kill’s failure. At nearly 8 pm local time we are still holding while POTUS and family remain at the Nesbitts.

    Sent: Sat May 29 22:07:24 2010
    Subject: Pool Report

It’s 8:45 and nearly dark; your pool has retreated back inside the van. We’re outnumbered now by roughly a dozen Fruit of Islam agents for the Nation of Islam. As each casually dressed man arrives, he exchanges elaborate handshake/hug/double air-kisses with others. Two walked by your pooler chanting “Islam.”

Several have filmed and photographed your poolers, the van and its license plates with their cell phones.

One came and stood close to a couple poolers and OUR agent. He asked if he could help. No answer. He asked again. The man said no. The agent said, “Secret Service — Please move away from this group of people.”

    He did.

Soon the agent asked us to go in the bus.

    We did.

But several poolers, hearing the call of nature, are asking whether they might ask the Fruit about using their bathroom.

    Sent: Sat May 29 22:31:56 2010
    Subject: Pool Report

9:20 local time and our agent got reinforcements from three Secret Service agents. One shook hands with one of the 22 Fruit members we now can count from the van. After a short discussion the three Secret Service agents walked away again.

No word on when we get to leave. We’re guessing POTUS is watching the Blackhawks game at the Nesbitts’ home.

    Sent: Sat May 29 23:45:48 2010
    Subject: Pool Report 5c

The power of pool reportage! Standoff ends, apparently with help of intermediary in Detroit:

Your pooler got a call at about 10:15 local time from a pool report reader who identified himself as the Rev. Gary Hunter, a Baptist minister in Motown who writes and blogs for the Detroit Times. He said he had called Minister Farrakhan and his son and asked them to have the Fruit stand down.

“I told him you were good people,” Rev. Hunter said. “He said he didn’t know you all were just waiting for the president.”

As it happens, the FOI indeed had mostly gone by then. The Rev Hunter apparently is remembered by Ms. Tubman, and he said he knows our frequent press rustler Ben Finkenbinder from past travels with Obama, and — sorry, Ben — could he make that name up?

Anyway, at 10:33 we pulled away and we are at the Obama residence. Never saw Potus et al. WE HAVE A FULL LID.

Speaking of the Clintons and Obama- my theory:

The powers that be have been trying for years to gets socialized medicine- and socialism- as the law of the land. Hillary was initially first choice, but at the last minute, they decided that Obama was the better choice for 2008. Why? Because he was black, and the race card could be played anytime anyone went against him. So what if a bunch of dems lost their seats by voting for Obamacare and Cap and Tax? Once these bills became law, it would be almost impossible to rescind. THEN Hilary would get her turn to run the show- or so the Clinton’s were told.
I don’t think Hilary or Bill were buying into the whole “your turn is next, you need some foreign policy experience first, never mind that Obama has zilch. He is cute, can get elected if we mess up the financial system [see 9/18/08] enough to really make the GOP look bad”, which is why she held on until June, and Bill has been so po’ed at Obama. They want back in, and will do anything to reach that goal- even carry BO’s water. Did Bill actually say that he talked to Sestack, or was that only in the White HOuse statement? Perhaps that is why Bill isn’t answering reporter’s questions, since he usually can’t shut up.
    Really, I am not a nut fudge…

Memorial Day. You guys asked the question “What are you doing tomorrow to honor those in uniform?” Do most Americans really stop and think about what Memorial Day is all about? Unfortunately many think it’s just another Monday holiday that involves barbecue and beer. I want to ask the question again “What are you doing tomorrow to honor those who have given their lives so that we can enjoy our freedom?” I will tell you what I am doing this weekend. I am a registered nurse and a therapeutic riding instructor in Atlanta and I work with men and women (mostly Marines) who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan with traumatic brain injuries from IED’s and who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. Horses have proven to be incredibly therapeutic in lessening the symptoms of combat stress. Yesterday, we (my barn) hosted a group of homeless Vietnam Veterans who have been living on the streets of Atlanta for years and who suffer from various mental illnesses brought on by combat. They are bitter and lost and hopeless and feel completely abandoned by the government that sent them to war. Most gave up trying to navigate the murky pathways of the VA years ago and gave in to their PTSD because they were offered almost no help. They had a wonderful day yesterday eating lunch with us and riding the horses on trails. They told us stories about their childhoods. I find that putting someone up on a horse inevitably brings back childhood memories. We did alot of joking and laughing. For one afternoon, they were able to forget about being homeless. We gave them a standing ovation for their service in Vietnam. My volunteers always enjoy working with the homeless veterans. They have amazing stories to tell. There is always a somber cloud that hangs over us as these wonderful men are driven away by one of the charitable groups that bring them to us (usually the Salvation Army) because we know that they are being taken back to the streets of Atlanta. I fear that some of the young men and women that I work with daily who have been subjected to numerous bomb blasts in that hell known as Afghanistan (from that wonderful Religion of Peace)will end up also living on the streets. The VA system is still very much a mess (although it has improved a little) and I see it in their eyes the frustration and confusion they experience. They desperately need help and they are at a loss as to how to get it. The VA doesn’t make it easy for them. Why is that? In this great country, why can’t we take care of the very people who are offering their lives for our freedom? Yes, the same government who is struggling to take care of our wounded warriors plan to take care of the rest of America with Obamacare? It is beyond scary. I have made it my mission to make a difference in the lives of a few brave souls who were able to return from war and hopefully by doing that I am honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Happy Memorial Day.

    In an
recent interview, General Norman Schwarzkopf was asked if he
thought there was room for forgiveness toward the people who have
harbored and abetted the terrorists who perpetrated the 9/11
attacks on America. His answer was classic Schwarzkopf. The General
said, “I believe that forgiving them is God’s function.
THIS IS WHY HE IS A GENERAL– WE NEED MANY MORE JUST LIKE HIM!!
    THIS MADE MY DAY
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE!!!! ENJOY WHILE WE CAN AND REMEMBER OUR MILITARY AROUND THE WORLD –SURE WISH THEY WERE ALL SERVING UNDER SCHWARZKOPH!!!

Thanks for posting, Paul. Good article.
Obama is like the wannabe contestants on AI, who, although talentless, have been propped up and egged on by relatives and friends who lie to them about their lack of talent.
      ‘Affirmative Action’ is Obama’s equivalent.
The Tea Partiers are Simon Cowell. They know a no-talent hack when they see one.

Chicago is not alone in this. Toronto City Councillor Howard Moscoe recently kicked up a fuss about a secret 25 page list of vehicles that are not to be ticketed. http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2010/05/09/13886941.html

This story seems to have dropped off the map, though.

I passed through Boystown around 7pm and wouldn’t you know, there was the BMW parked right at Halsted & Newport across the street from Gerber. I tried to get a peek at the VIN # but it was too hidden for me to check without becoming too conspicuous.

I did see that the tags expire 7-2010 and they have a Joseph Perillo frame on it.

One more suggestion, with the sub-suggestions.

        A good book.

        Anything by Terry Pratchett

The belisarius books by David drake…I have read all 6 3 times, they make me smile.

The last centurion by John Ringo

The first 3 belisarius books are available free at baen.com in the free library.

the first few chapters of the last centurion are available as a free sample as well.

I have always relied on physical exercise. It seems to release the demons as it were. You can run long and hard when you are pissed at the lame stream media’s last omission, spin or outright lie. Needless to say, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in right now.

First of all, I applaud you, jjohnsoc, for recognizing that this is ‘getting to you’ and looking for ways to counter the frustration.
Also, you are by no means alone. A lot of folks are feeling similar stress and seeking ways to relieve it.

I exhibit at an art fair on week-ends and chat with people from all over the place. This week many folks were visibly stressed over the ‘oil spill’. Some others, from Michigan, were visiting for the long weekend, just looking to get away from the dismal conditions in their state for a few days. The guy was worried about his business, which has been hanging on by their fingernails since the auto industry tanked.

But…just knowing everybody’s in the same (life)boat doesn’t help much.
Personally, my best ‘therapy’ for letting go of my earthly problems is getting out in nature and letting my own physical insignificance kick me in the pants. There is so much beauty and natural majesty all around us, if we only look around and ‘see’ it. It’s so calming and restorative. And, if you’re even a tiny bit ‘religious’, you can actually feel God’s presence, reassuring you that he’s in charge and things will be all right.

Try not to beat yourself up (or your loved ones). We know your exams, etc. have put you under added stress lately.
      This…will…pass.
And best yet, you’ve got all us Buzzer pals right here in your corner!

This is what happens when the US turns its back on Israel and her enemies think they have an opening to attack her. If they think the US will turn away and not defend Israel, or if they detect WEAKNESS they will EXPLOIT that weakness.

Jimmy Carter learned this lesson the hard way and so will Obama. Israel has the right to defend herself and WILL do so.

And if they really were “peace activists” why the attempt at resistance when the Israeli forces tried to board the ship? They knew they were sailing to a blockaded port so they had to expect at the minimum a boarding.
All said, fairly well executed set-up unfortunately. Israel gets blamed for using force against these poor innocent civilians and if they did nothing, the next ship carries weapons to Hamas?!
And Teh Won will side with the real evil doers and pressure Israel for concessions.

I find the MFM’s reporting on this to be particularly annoying. Notice the headline — Israelis “attack” “aid” ship — pure BS and Fox News is as big a culprit as the rest.

I always head to the foreign newspapers to get information. This didn’t make the first three pages of Tass or the Asia India Press, the Daily Mail said “19 casualties”, and Xinhua now has a headline about the outrage over “Israeli attack of Gaza Flotilla” [they were very unsympathetic this morning- I guess China needs oil].
Bad, bad Israel and US. Situation normal. Sigh.
