    All the “uninterrupted” CORRUPTION:
FEC Turns Blind Eye to Illegal NEA Electioneering

The union bosses spent over a Billion Dollars electing Barack Obama and other forced unionism proponents in the 2008 elections. But how much of that money was illegally raised or spent by say, the nation’s largest teacher union?

It will be hard to know, because the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) just junked a federal complaint filed by two educators against the National Education Association (NEA) for one of its dishonest political fundraising schemes.

Evidence suggests teacher union officials laundered union treasury funds into the union’s political action committee (PAC) in an expense reimbursement scheme involving delegates to the NEA’s national convention in July 2008.

Union officials misled union convention delegates by diverting a portion of their travel stipends to a “children’s fund” when it actually went to the union’s political action committee (PAC).

The FEC has dismissed the complaint – apparently without any field investigation – claiming it does not have the time to pursue it. Yet the NEA scheme may have transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars into the union’s electioneering program. National Right to Work Foundation attorneys are now considering a federal lawsuit against the agency.

Read more about the case here.

Been thinking how are we going to stop voter fraud and intimidation—-we all need to use our cellphone cameras, camcorders, whatever, and be citizen reporters. Holder did not prosecute the Black panthers who bullied voters in PA. Also how to make sure amnesty doesnt pass–they already did one evil deed and know they are toast—what’s to stop them from doing another thing to ensure enough voters for O’s next term>? Sorry I dont mean to be a downer…..

      Excellent point, a.marie!

I hope this is made SOP and strongly encouraged by all Tea Party organizations.
A great many ‘tea-partiers’ are totally new at this and are naïve about the despicable tactics of the Left. (I’m sure as time goes on, the Boyz will have lots of pointers, because they have the ‘inside track’.)

Technology is our friend and it must be used to advantage. Everybody attending any events, and especially when they go to vote, should be packing a camera or camera-phone
A picture, especially video, is worth its weight in gold.
Everybody remembers watching Rodney King get beaten so long ago.
Just one more cliché…The best ‘defense’ is a good ‘offense’!

Amazingly, the most liberal court in America, the Left Coast’s Ninth Circuit, has ruled that the words “under God” should not be removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. They sided with the political philosophy of our Founders: that our rights do not come from the state but from a “higher power” beyond the state. This higher power, the Founders contended, was a “necessary pre-requisite to the CONCEPT OF LIMITED GOVERNMENT that formed the basis of our nation’s founding.”

Something completely non-political: this Texas family watched their first collegiate hockey game last night. Our daughter is a senior at Rochester Institute of Technology, and their men’s hockey team – which has only been in the NCAA Division I since she was a freshman – soared past the University of New Hampshire Wildcats 6-2 to advance last night to the “Frozen Four”!

ESPN has called the RIT Tigers the “Cinderella Team” of the Championship. What a great group of kids, and our daughter’s university is just thrilled beyond words to have gotten this far.

Our daughter was at a bar last night, watching the game with the RIT faithful, and there was a reporter from the local paper sitting near her. She told him about her parents back in Texas watching the game on ESPN. He asked her our reaction when the Tigers won – we told her to tell him we said “Yee-haw!”.

    • Capt Caveman says:

Today I am upset with the President’s naive fight with the Israeli government. It is a flashback to the 1970s when Jimmy Carter acted the same exact way. I’ve been getting a lot of flashbacks to Jimmy Carter. It took the public 2.5 years to start getting angry and concerned at Jimmy Carter. By the time Reagan came along we were desperate to get him out of office. It has only taken 14 months to get to that point with Obama. I just can’t imagine how much worse things can get without him being thrown out of office. The Democrats think Obama is immune from being forced from office. I think that is a naive assumption. If Obama puts this country in danger like Jimmy Carter did the MSM will not turn a blind eye to that. If we watch Israel getting attacked because of Obama’s naive actions and then we are in danger…it will change the entire ballgame. Americans do not like feeling afraid. When times are dangerous people want to feel secure. Obama does not give anyone that sense of security.

    • Capt Caveman says:
      2010/03/28 at 10:39 am

Obama doesn’t seem to understand Israel has nukes and WILL use them if pushed into a corner. Iran is just Looney Toons and generally nihilists, They wanna die gloriously for Allah. The middle east could become a radioactive parking lot.

      • Bev says:
        2010/03/28 at 10:47 am

Yes it could…very easily. Obama’s behavior is embolding those people and it’s dangerous. Just like Jimmy Carter he is letting his American politics govern foreign policy and that is naive. David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs are way out of their league.

      • sundancefan says:
        2010/03/28 at 11:00 am

Capt., I think he does understand. I think he totally understands. I also think that his mind permits consideration for “regional conflict” as a political tool to rally a citizenry and gain re-election.

        • Bev says:
          2010/03/28 at 12:58 pm

That’s the miscalculation Carter made when he cozied up to the Shah of Iran. Same mistake.

    • blowbama says:
      2010/03/28 at 10:52 am

No, Obama does not make ANYONE feel secure. For me, he is the antithesis of security.

He worries me every day. It is seldom that I have a free moment I can enjoy for myself with my family without his evil visage creeping back into my thoughts. Everything he does is bassackwards of what should be done and appears calculated to torment and ridicule everything and everyone we hold dear. He is a nightmare.

How I wish it were November already.

      • Bev says:
        2010/03/28 at 11:02 am

That is EXACTLY how people felt when Jimmy Carter was President.

        • blowbama says:
          2010/03/28 at 11:22 am

I was a teenager when Carter was President, didn’t have the investment of time and money in this country at that time, nor the accrued life experience to evaluate what was going on, but I do remember a lot of his foreign policy efforts were scary. I do remember adults hated him.

I cannot imagine him being as bad as this monster.

I was a young child during the Carter years so I don’t remember anything about them.

    • sundancefan says:
      2010/03/28 at 10:56 am

Bev, I agree with most of what you share, and hold similar concerns. However, don’t count on the MSM not to “turn a blind eye”, and allow Obama to create a condition of risk to Israel. Israels’ enemies are watching us distance ourselves from Israel very closely. Those enemies are are judging right now “how aggressive” they can be.

      • Bev says:
        2010/03/28 at 11:05 am

Trust me on this. The media of all people know the dangers of the world. They know more than they are even telling us. They withhold news that is scary…they see stuff we don’t see for national security reasons. They KNOW. When things get scary people pull together as Americans. Even the news media. Even the left-wing media. They used to love Jimmy Carter…but when the world got scary they pounced on him. Nobody wants to be in true danger. Not even the liberals.

        • blowbama says:

        • Thomas Hooker says:
          2010/03/28 at 11:54 am

The media does not pull together for America. They deliberately leak classified information that puts American lives at risk. I also still clearly remember Peter Arnett functioning as a mouthpiece for Saddam.

        • Bev says:
          2010/03/28 at 12:31 pm

When Iran took those hostages in 1979 the American people were FURIOUS with Carter. When the military helicopters crashed and Carter when on NATIONAL TV and BLAMED the military officers (who DIED) for their “failed mission” ALL Americans were absolutely enraged and Reagan instantly became topic #1. I will never forget it. I am firm in my opinion that if Obama’s stupidity puts Israel in harm’s way Obama will not last his full term.

        • Bev says:
          2010/03/28 at 12:33 pm

After 9/11 we ALL came together. It took a few years for the far-left to start attacking Bush. In fact..that’s how he got congress to approve the war in Iraq.

        • Bev says:
          2010/03/28 at 12:41 pm

Okay…it’s my opinion. I remember the Carter years. I was a young adult and I’m telling you…Obama is following his policies EXACTLY. Carter hates Israel. He cozied up to Iran and the Shah and it’s what ticked off the people of Iran and caused the revolution. The news media was just as liberal then as it is now. Yet when we became a target it scared people. Most of Reagan’s popularity was from his strength and authority and he changed the perception of the military. People were hating the military because of Vietnam. Carter dissed the military all the time. Reagan changed all that.

        • Cat says:

Bev, your examples are of a media that was 30 years ago. That was a different generation – nothing like the one that rules the airwaves now.

No, what we currently have are radical, marxist ideologues who WANT America to fail.

I couldn’t disagree with you more.

Trust me, they will find a way to BLAME BUSH about any problem that arises.

        • sundancefan says:
          2010/03/28 at 12:51 pm

Bev, I too remember the time. I also remember the MSM praising Carter and the “Camp David peace accords”, which eventually led to Carters Nobel Prize. The media hailed Carter as a hero. I remember the MSM not being critical until the odd/even gas rationing and the lines for fuel leading to public screams of outrage.

The media responded to the American peoples’ outrage on Iran, not vice versa.

        • Bev says:
          2010/03/28 at 1:03 pm

You don’t remember when Reagan was sworn in to office the Iranians released the hostages because they were afraid of him? The people voted for Reagan because they were afraid and had no confidence in Carter. I remember the news media talking about how the Carters were hillbillies and the Reagan’s were “Hollywood stars”. This is my memory. The gas crisis was more in mid-term, and it also resulted in our Department of Energy being created which was a huge mistake. The hostage crisis was right before Reagan was elected.

This was on NBC. I rest my case. Note the announcement “The Hostages are freed”. They also praise George Bush. As the Reagan’s walk down Pennsyvlania Avenue to the White House (this was before terrorism remember) Barbara Walters talks about how Rosalyn Carter was so “plain and simple” and Nancy Reagan was sophisticated and “grand”.

I think the MSM WILL turn a blind eye to any Obama-made disaster. They are just as bad and complicit as he is. I can’t believe, that after all they’ve done to smear everyday Americans and any “far rightwinger”, you still subscribe to the idea that they’re going to report this judiciously?

My weekend health care experience has been to talk to a few people around the country. All were students, not at all invested in the real world and accustomed to operating as a number through the university system.

They are very supportive of Obama. Not all were argumentative but all considered the Republicans to be obstructionists with no ideas.

There was a theme though that I wonder if anyone detects in other Obama supporters. They all claimed, in so many words, to be interested in all ideas and that my disagreement was based on my inability to entertain opposing views.

    • CAS says:
      2010/03/28 at 11:05 am

Oh YES. Not to be confused with THEIR inability to entertain opposing views.
Another theme: I’m so sick of all the anger. Can’t we all just get along (this only applies when things are going their way, therefore your disagreement is the problem)?
My answer to that: Go away child, I’ve got a country to repair.

From Hayek’s “The Road to Serfdom” …
“The most effective way of making people accept the validity of the values they are to serve is to persuade them that they are really the same as those which they, or at least the best among them, have always held, but which were not properly understood or recognized before.”
This is from the Chapter “The End of Truth”. When the truth doesn’t suit your objective, change the meaning of the words so they define your “truth”. This is typical of what you see nowadays in opposing arguments. No discussion of the merit of an argument, rather disagree based on style or some other subjective reason and ignore the facts aka truth. If forced to deal with facts, they will try to change the meaning of the words and accuse you of not being enlightened enough to understand. This is what has become of our educational system.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck… it’s a cow according to the liberals with a collectivist agenda. Don’t believe the hype!

I love Hayek’s Road to Serfdom. I take it with me when I’m flying commercial, because it always strikes up a discussion, and I let them read it during the flight. I’ve had many seatmates write down the title and state they were going to order when they got him.

It’s one of my methods of educating others out there without being too obnoxious about it.

      • Jan says:
        2010/03/28 at 12:53 pm

That’s exactly right! They want to keep the word but subtly change it’s meaning until the word comes to reflect the opposite idea.

Therefore, those who take action to support and defend the new Socialist government will be called “patriotic Americans” and those who oppose the take over will be called “dangerous radicals” or “terrorists”. Quite the opposite of the truth, yet all the words and concepts are still in use.

They do this through facilitated dialog to consensus such that the more you talk with them, with a view to coming to terms you can both agree on, the more you lose and the more they gain. When this is done in a group, every body loses something except the facilitator, who was charged with the task of getting the individuals in the group to all adopt the same view on a given issue (dialog to consensus), usually how to handle a crisis which may or may not actually exist. To solve the problem the individuals in the group must give up whatever ideological ground was necessary to come to the desired conclusion that was predetermined by the facilitator.

On my mind today? Obama uses opportunity to make 15 recess appointments, to previously stalled nominations:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/03/27/politics/main6339189.shtml?tag=stack

The worst is Craig Becker. SEIU lawyer and Andy Stern best friend. Becker previously failed a senate vote as democrats joined with republicans and voted no. This is payback, big time. Obama could not have done anything worse for our economy or unemployment than to appoint Becker. Most corporations already concerned about finance reform, healthcare reform, cap n Tax energy reform, and now this. Becker has already stated that his #1 goal is to use the NLRB to make it easier to unionize. HE SAID THAT. Companies will now face only ONE vote (instead of one registration initiative and one secret ballot), and the company will only have 30 days to counter their efforts. This is a huge abuse of power and this is the MOST controversial of appointments. Even democrats did’nt like this guy because he was “TOO” pro-union. Please note the U.S. Chamber of commerce concern in the above link.

My response to Bart Stupak’s letter to the Washington Post, attempting to defend his actions in the healthcare vote:

    Mr. Stupak,

You can try to spin this any way that you want to, but the fact still remains that in the end, you will be responsible for taxpayer dollars being used to kill unborn future taxpayers. Fortunately for the rest of us, the majority of those killings will be of future liberal voters.

Ultimately, you will have to answer for your actions to a much higher judge than any that can be found here on Earth. Fortunately for you, He is much more forgiving than we mere mortals.

While you are still here on Earth, however, you will have to answer for your actions to your constituents and the people of these United States, who rely on our elected officials to “Do no harm”, especially to the most innocent, who are unable to fend for themselves.

I hope that you have enjoyed your time in Congress. I seriously doubt that you will be returning to D.C. after the November elections. I also hope that you understand that you have lost another very precious thing – your personal reputation. From now on, your word will be worthless to those around you, for they know that ultimately you have no honor.

You were willing to sell your integrity for a piece of paper signed by a man who has absolutely NO respect for the sanctity of life, as demonstrated by his ability to allow live children to die, cold and alone, unhelped by medical personnel. This same man has proven time and time again that his “word” is worth NOTHING – it is truly sad that we have a man sitting in the Oval Office who has no honor or integrity.

The fact that you were willing to stand in front of the American people and state that you trust Mr. Obama to honor his “promise” to you just proves that your judgment is less than sound. We don’t need people like you representing our interests in the hallowed halls of Congress.

The fact that you feel that you have to justify your decision should be evidence enough to the rest of the American people that you know that what you did was wrong. It is too late to try and redeem your reputation – that has been lost forever.

I feel sorry for you – for the rest of your life, you will have the blood of innocent unborn children on your hands. For the rest of your life, you will have to live with knowing that you made it possible for the American government to steal money from her citizens to pay for these deaths. That is something from which you will never be able to escape.

I hope the price was worth it.

It will be interesting to see what kind of people his daughters turn out to be. I have to say that as far as I can tell, from Amy Carter through the Bush twins, they’ve all turned out well.

I feel sorry for the Obama girls though. Both parents have thrown them under the bus (MO – fat, BO – grades). What kind of parents do that to their kids?

David Plouffe is back in the White House.

American’s hate what happened last week with the passing of the HC Bill.
They tried to redirect the discussion (with the help of the lamestream media)by talking about the Tea Party people being racists, and inciting violence. Well, that didn’t work!

Now the media will be doing nothing but talking about Obama in Afghanistan instead of what’s in the HC Bill.

That’s Plouffe’s job; controlling the conversation.

What’s on my mind? Adam Kinzinger! :)

He’s running against Debbie Halvorson in IL’s 11th District, and I had the pleasure of meeting him for a second time last week. I met him the first time last August at a town hall meeting.

Writer, JoAnn Hustis, reports from last week’s meeting:
Kinzinger said the basic philosophy of government is to represent the people of the district – “an employee of the district,” he noted.

“I truly believe America is at a crossroads today,” he said. “Will we go back to believing in the freedom of America. Will we get back to work?

Halvorson ran for Congress as a conservative Democrat – “District Debbie,” said Kinzinger.

“The D.C. Debbie voted 93 percent of the time with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California),” he went on. “D.C. Debbie has not held a town hall meeting. Sometimes she had Congress on the Corner (meeting constituents on a one-to-one basis for a few minutes each). You’re paying her almost $180,000 a year and she’s not representing you.”

Kinzinger pledged that, if elected, he will always be there for his constituents and will listen to them.

“This is the kind of representation I promise you,” the 32-year-old Air Force pilot from Bourbonnais vowed.
    …………………………………….
Adam needs help getting elected. Our district is suffering from high unemployment, so fundraising is difficult. Halvorson had Joe Biden fundraising last summer for her.

He is trying to reach a mere $14K today, and is only a few hundred away from reaching that goal. Can we possibly turn IL from a Blue State to Red?

    Since Teresa brought up Stupak…

Here’s the latest from AoS about Congress’ continued intimidation tactics used against companies (and individuals) who dare publicly express disagreement with this administration…

    http://minx.cc/?post=299930

Intimidate, bully, and use all means available to silence the opposition – Chicago politics again. Stuff like this is why I can’t get too upset about SCOTUS allowing corporations political speech right before an election. I suggest reading Tim Carney’s book “Obamanomics” to fully understand though just how “embedded” our big corporations are with our elected officials. You will understand that big companies aren’t in favor of the free market because that means competition and they want to kill competition so they use our politicians to regulate the competition away.

I believe we need to staunchly defend the free speech of others no matter how much we disagree with the content. Civil discourse is part of freedom and without, we will only be puppets to our government. And let the companies speak out all they want but the government should quit choosing the winners and losers in the marketplace. How about a separation between politicans and business for a change???

I expressed my outrage about the bill and she agreed. She said she has talked to alot of people about it, dems, republicans, independants and ALL of them have said they don’t like it and are upset about it. I was surprised that the dems would be against it since California is so, well, you know what I mean. Anyway, people from California are upset about the HC bill and the way it was pushed through. The polls show Boxer is pretty much running even against her opponants. We will REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER.

On my mind today…the Democrat “talking point memo” must have been Kristallnacht. I participate in a very liberal actor friend’s blog, and that was his meme yesterday. Today it’s Frank Rich of the New York Slimes. Thankfully, the comments section seems to have some voices of reason. Not only were a few bricks through some windows “Kristallnacht”, but it’s the same old line…these white people can’t stand to see their country fill with brown and black people. Saul Alinsky tactic #5..ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. 50% of the nation(prob. more) hates this bill, yet we are dismissed with a sneer and a brush of the hand “oh, they’re just pissed because he’s black”. And then they wonder why we yell. Here’s the article:

I am very concerned about the national media blackout of the raids that are going in Michigan and Ohio. As 90% of initial reports are wrong, I am waiting for reports from the supporters of those arrested. Unless the individuals arrested have actually committed acts of domestic terrorism, and not just spoken out against what they believe to be the tyranny of the federal government, we are in serious trouble here.

The local media in Sandusky, OH and small towns in Michigan are reporting this, even though the MSM is not.

Dissent growing? … round up the loudest dissenters first and make an example of them. My concern…will the truth will be the first casualty?

The counting of the for sale signs, for rent signs, for lease signs and going out of business signs. Spring is here. I hve done this for years now. My son learned counting and numbers and addition and they both got espresso-like compressed economic lessons. :D

Between the egging of the Tea Party Express bus, the confrontation with Breitbart, where they called the police to say HE was starting something, then the emails like the one received at Instapundit, I seriously believe that the left is trying to incite violence. They want something to point at in order to say, “See!!!eleventy1! These tea party people are crazy!!!eleventy!11″

Or it could be something more sinister. Civil unrest could lead to martial law and suspension of elections. I used to think that people saying that Odummy would suspend elections were conspiracy nuts, but week after week, these leftist wackjobs go further than I thought.

Rubio scored a TKO in the 3rd round.
Lot of ‘he said’ ‘she said’ crap for the first 2 rounds and then Rubio started pouring it on w/some good right cross combinations. Crist never laid a glove on him after that.
Noticeable: 1st chance he had to open his mouth (less than a minute into the interview) Crist went negative on Rubio and set the general tone of the debate. Rubio spoke to governance philosophy and the programs he believed would be helpful to Florida and the US and Crist pointed fingers at Rubio for doing bad things. Nanny, nanny, boo boo! As this guy queried, “Who typically has a need or desire to get a tan and who doesn’t?” It’s clear that if you are pigmentally challenged you might be more inclined to visit such a place. Okay, well isn’t there something in the Constitution or it’s amendments that states that no one group of citizens can be taxed over another? Just saying, if I wasn’t such a RAAAAAAAACIST, maybe this wouldn’t trouble me.

It’s called redistribution of wealth. Seems pretty clear to me that if you are pigmentally challenged, they are going to tax everything they can about you so they can redistribute it to someone else.

Oh, and it’s only racist if it’s a white person doing something to a non-white person. Anything else is justfifiable payback. (Learned that during the campaign reading actual garbage they are teaching at actual college campuses.)

What’s on my mind? I wish happy things were…or a few winning Lottery numbers, but instead I am as gloomy feeling as the late March skies.

Before Barky high-tailed it to Af-goney-stahn (where, no doubt, he can repeatedly hear the “most beautiful sound on Earth…the evening all to prayer”), he managed to slither into place 15 far left political hacks…with the true ‘everything bad you ever thought of lawyers, snake’ Craig Becker (Andy Stern’s SEIU bud and BFF) being placed on the NLRB…to expedite Car Check.

At least Recess Appointments are only good thru the end of this Congressional Term. But still a lot of time to do a lot of damage.

HILLBUZZ guys—on the line of bugging donors to the dems—what do you think would be the usefulness of a massive letter campaign to the hollywood lefties? stars like Clooney; telling him how despicable he is and we will never watch anoter movie by him? Is this of any use do you think strategy wise? I mean, they do not want to be despised by fans since fans pay their way ultimately….

They probably don’t even read their fan mail. They hire people to do that. Tom Hanks actually gets off when people disagree with him..he laughs at it. I think not buying their movies and not paying to watch their movies is the most effective thing. That’s what I do.

I’m surprised Ron Howard and Tom Hanks aren’t smart enough to know this will hurt their careers. Either that or they are just so passionate about their leftist views they don’t care. I read his Pacific war series was not getting good ratings and a lot of people canceled HBO because of his views.

One more thing on my mind…the thuggish (not surprising) behavior of the Congressional Dems THREATENING the CEO’s of John Deere; Verizon, AT&T; Caterpillar; KL Steel (and others) with Congressional subpeonas for their corporations compiling with SECOND regs (Sarbanes/Oxley) in regard to profit LOSSES due to ObamaCare. AT&T alleges one BILLION in losses by the tax changes that would FORCE AT&T retirees OUT of their private AT&T sponsored benefit plan, and onto the public rolls.

Leading the charge…the photogenically challenged Henry Waxman…and his second in command on Committee??? Why none other than Bart ‘Judas’ Stupak.

    Dear Hillbuzz,

Earlier this week I wrote to you on one of the threads that I thought you would have more clout staying Democrat while fighting the Democratic Socialist Party because fellow Democrats may be more apt to listen to you over some random Republican. I sighted my Mom as an example in the post and how she brings up the fact that she is a lifelong Democrat when she argues that this Utopia Administration is such a farce. This woman, my incredible mother, was raised in an Irish Catholic Democrat home so it was pretty much a given that she too would become a Democrat. She was a true blue Democrat that dedicated quite a bit of time and energy working on campaigns and supporting West Virginian and national Democrats. She is a patriot and often jokes that she could not understand how she produced a Republican daughter (me)! ;)
Now I have an update on my Mom. She called me last night to tell me that she is becoming a Republican. She said she can longer support the Democrat Party and she wrote the following letter to Representative Nicky Joe Rahall (D-WV):

    Dear Congressman Nicky Joe,

I am 55 years old and have been a lifelong Democrat. I lived in Southern WV (Beckley) for most of my adult life, until moving to the eastern panhandle of WV. You and I have met on many occasions some years back. In fact, I worked on your behalf at the polls in Beckley during elections.

In EVERY election, I gave you my vote while I was residing in Beckley. Because of the trust and faith I had in you to serve your people who elected you to represent them. The time has come in my own good conscience that I cannot remain a Democrat. The standards of the party now have gone against everything I ever believed in for our country.

This week, I will be registering with the Republican Party and putting my Democrat political views behind me forever. I cannot believe for the life of me, how Congress has betrayed its own brethren by selling this great country out with the Health Care Bill while knowing full well that the majority of this country is completely against it. This hurts me through to my soul, Nicky Joe.

I am a direct descendent of the Mayflower, the courageous souls that came to this land to establish freedom. They sacrificed everything for freedom. My father was a WWII POW in Nazi Germany. And for this total mess our country is in, is what he suffered for? My father went to his eternal rest in 1994 and I must say I am thankful he is not here now to witness what has happened to the integrity and honesty of the Democratic Party.

I feel the Democratic Party has turned their backs on the American people and most importantly the great Americans that founded this country.

I close this letter to you with a heavy heart grieving for the Democratic Party that once was and no longer is.

Have you no shame for forgetting that you work for your constituents?

Betrayal is a bitter pill to swallow.

She also sent a similar letter to Representative Mollohan and Senator Jay Rockefeller, and forwarded her letter on to WV newspapers, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck. In addition, she asked me to send this to you as we both read your blog and hold it in high regard. It is a sad day for my Mom. She has made this decision with a heavy heart, but she is doing what is right for her. And if becoming a Republican is what is right for her – so be it…

Yea for your Mom! My mom, too! She told me she and a couple of her friends went down to the registrar’s office the day after the HC bill was signed to change their registration from D to R as their way of protesting their anger to the Democratic Party. She lives in a small town in Alabama. They arrived about 10Am and the registrar told her she was the 23rd person THAT MORNING that had been in to change their voting registration from D to R. People are very upset all over the country – especially those bible clinging, gun-carrying, bitter people Oblowme talked about in San Francisco.

It has been truly amazing to see how many different ways we Americans find to voice our opinions. In special elections, opinion polls, Tea party rallies, calls, emails, changing party registration, and millions of one-on-one conversations across the land.

Gives me hope that our democracy IS working. We may not feel we’re winning many battles now, but I suspect we are. We the people are up against a gov’t gone mad, with the complicity of the media, Hollywood, the educational system, unions, and big money special interests. And yet we are gaining traction, winning over people one by one.

It’s my sense that we are living in one of the most significant periods in our country’s history. Someday many books will be written about this time.

There’s a story on yahoo about farmers in Florida destroying their strawberry crops because the price they can get per pound of their crop has plummeted to .25 cents per pound from 1.00 per pound. There is much disgust with this, since so many are hurting for food right now, yet I understand the reason that farmers are doing this. Since they can’t spend money to harvest their crop because they are already losing money, what else can they do? They are reluctant to allow people to pick the berries for free because of insurance concerns which is also completely understandable in our litigous world. One of the farmers has permitted this which is very kind of him.

The reason why I even mention all this is that I waaay a Walmart yesterday waiting to be served at their deli counter. While there, I watched workers remove food from the pre-made hot foods deli area, weigh this food, record the weight and description of the food, and then throw the food out. This throw away food was replaced by fresh versions of the same. Granted, the hot food must have been displayed over the allotted time that has been determined by Walmart as saleable product, but the food looked fine as far as I could tell, and just minutes before this food was thrown out, it was being soldto customers. Why doesn’t Walmart allow local soup kitchens, church kitchens, or other organizations that feed the poor access to this food? It just seems so wasteful to me. I would think that something could be worked out with some charity where everyone walks away a winner in this type of situation.

    • sundancefan says:
      2010/03/28 at 6:06 pm

nomobama, the reason WM throws out the unsaleable food that no longer meets their quality standard is the same reason the farmer does not allow the general public on their farm.
Lawsuits. When you give food away you lose control over the “care and handeling of a product”. Some have been able to secure solid “hold harmless” agreements with soup kitchens, salvation army, food harvest or pantries. Unfortunately, many courts have dismissed the Hold Harmless contracts and have allowed “injured” (food sickness claims) to be attached back to the source of the food origination. With the extreme care and control that is needed for safe food handeling it is just too risky to try and be a good samaritan.

      • nomobama says:
        2010/03/28 at 6:19 pm

You know, that was the only reason that I could think of that made some sense. Still, there are businesses that donate unused food regardless. It’s a sad situation.

        • sundancefan says:
          2010/03/28 at 6:50 pm

Yep, you are right. Small businesses are at less risk for lawsuit than large corporations. Also, bread, rolls, pastries, and shelf stable items do not have the same risk so those are generally donated as you describe.

The “risk” is generally associated with in hot foods, cold foods, or prepared foods that are also subject to time and temperature abuse.

But I’m liking Chapter 9, where Jon Stewart and Colbert are taken to the woodshed. If we could make these two lose some of their “cool” factor, it’d help enormously in 2010.

Did you know that Colbert has 86 employees for his show? 86 people to put together four half-hour shows a week? Two hours of content, with commercial breaks, takes 86 people working full time.

I can not get out of my mind an experience at church yesterday. We were out of town at a church we visit fairly often when taking a break. Two pews in front of me was a man in a nice suit (people in this church tend to come dressed casually) with two Downs Syndrome folk. One of the Down Syndrome people was a guy who looked like he might have been 50, very small and somewhat wrinkled. The other person was a much younger gal. The caregiver man was just unbelievably gentle and attentive to these folks. The DS guy seemed to need more attention, help kneeling and getting up etc. Just watching this whole interaction during the service was a sermon in itself. We are called to serve and love all humanity. Those who wish DS babies aborted just have no idea how much of their own humanity they are throwing away. I have never believed in aborting DS babies, but yesterdays experience was so moving I can’t fully describe it. I could just see and feel the love and care exuding from the caregiver man.
