Did you watch the Diane Sawyer interview with Jaycee Dugard last night?
What an amazingly brave person.
How does someone emerge so mature and compassionate after such an ordeal?
God bless Jaycee Dugard.
So….what’s on your minds this Sunday?
What are people talking about in your part of the world?

one of the comments on my sister's facebook page had to do with the GOP's rejection of teh won's 85/15 budget plan (wait, he actually HAD a budget plan??) even though the GOP had a similar budget plan. it was made to sound like the GOP rejected it simply because teh won had proposed it.
puzzled, i started doing a bit of digging, and found that the democratic party actually had proposed a plan that had 17% tax hikes as opposed to the GOP's 15%. it seemed a small number to quibble over, until i got to the conditions of the budget.
here was my response to the facebook comment:
"the numbers might be similar, but the terms are not. it'd be like being offered $10 for an hour of yard work versus $10 for your immortal soul. but don't take my word for it. research"
I pray she gets all the happiness she deserves
I didn't watch it, I refuse to watch Diane Sawyer or any of the lsm shows…
I have a friend who was a helicopter pilot for several tours in Vietnam. When he got back to the states, he taught other pilots in the Army, then went private and worked for a news organization. He helicoptered Diane Sawyer to some type of news story. Since he had nothing to do until she finished, he watched her interview and ask questions. When he later watched her newscast, he said there was nothing in the newscast that even remotely resembled what he witnessed with his own eyes and ears. I've never watched her since. She is no different from Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather, Connie Chung, et al. who lie with abandon and have no integrity. This story is not a hard news piece, but, like you, reshas1, I refuse to give Diane Sawyer any viewing time.
I really dislike Diane Sawyer. She tried to bully both mother and daughter over their responses.
The bullying happened because Jaycee is a young woman who is simply too well grounded to be all angry about her experience. Jaycee put her in her place.
By chance the interview was on our 60 Minutes last night. I watched because it was about Jaycee Dugard. I think she is a very brave young woman. I detested the way that Sawyer did the segment.
Any theories about who's really behind the obviously concerted, sudden effort to bring down News Corp via the News of the World supposed 'scandal'? No one has yet been charged, and yet developments in this supposed 'scandal' continue to receive major US LSM coverage, while the BO DoJ's Gunrunner/Fast & Furious, Operation Castaway Scandal, which resulted in numerous deaths, receives scant LSM attention. (And, IMO, the News Corp 'scandal' coverage is a deliberate attempt to divert and distract attention from Gunrunner.) Moreover, IMO, whatever News of the World may have done couldn't possibly be any worse than what George Soros and the BO administration have done and continue doing by blatantly bribing, bullying and buying control of the US LSM. If whoever is spearheading the News Corp 'takedown' is successful, the US LSM may as well kiss its collective a– goodbye, because all Fox viewers/listeners will go to alternative sources, certainly not to the alphabet networks, who simply spiel the BO WH talking points du jour, never reporting anything of true consequence to the American public.
Seems to me, about 3-6 months ago, Glenn Beck talked about this coming.
A Colorado woman is being charged with sexual abuse after allegedly touching said agent inappropriately. Some of the commenters were quick to point out the hypocrisy of the TSA in this story.

Obama approval rating has dropped to 42 according to Gallup today. . This debt ceiling crisis manipulation has already blown up in his face and the Democrats.. This is despite the MSM spin.I think it was an attempt to divert attention from Gunrunner & other scandals but it has backfired.
Better watch this and pass it on…..

Obamawatch, Glass-Steagall, Daily Report
This week has seen all-out financial warfare by the Empire against nation-states, including our own. The world is waiting for the political leadership of the United States to muster enough courage and conviction to get behind LaRouche and the six candidates, impeach Barack Obama, and ram Glass-Steagall through — before it’s too late.

why pass on something from the ultra-left wing Larouche?

John Hayward: We Are The Undefeated
I want Palin to run because I want a candidate who inspires that kind of desperation in the Left. I want someone who drives them to sit in little circles around their campfires and tell ghost stories. LOL!!

My Relationship With Sarah Palin
I have a relationship with Sarah Palin. There. I said it. I’ve never met her, though I did get somewhat close to her at a rally in California. But this icon known as Sarah Palin and I do have a relationship of sorts. She is fighting for the survival of our country and way of life, and I am her steadfast supporter. She is fighting the fight I’m not able to fight on the level she can to save our country from the Marxists and Communists; therefore, I will support her with my words, with whatever money I can, with my time, and with my heart. http://greeneyedconservative.wordpress.com/2011/0…
This is a wonderfully written piece about Gov. Palin. I so agree with everything said in it that I got a weird feeling that perhaps* Green Eyed Conservative* and I (being Green-eyed, too) may be cyber-sisters! LOL!
You know what, I have green eyes also and I feel the same way. I trust Gov. Palin to always do what's right for America.
Well put!
Barry's got soooo many lies in his head, he can't remember his birthdate! http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2011/07/o…
Bet *The Birthers* are lovin' that one.
That's the problem with lies. You get to a point where you can't remember all of them. Granted, I have forgotten the birthdates of a number of people, but my own? Whatever the case, I am hoping that he won't have anything to celebrate (i.e. budget). I refuse to give in to him to take actions that will damage this country any further in order for him to get into the good graces of his leftwing buddies. Not on my watch!
Further to the point from the blog – and they attacked Ronald Reagan? Has this media no shame? Maybe obama needs to play another round of golf? Will that help? How about another vacation? Will that improve his memory?
Fannie Mae defender trips himself
Robert Kuttner, the liberal co-founder and co-editor of The American Prospect, has written a piece for his periodical that attacks the findings in a new book on the mortgage meltdown, Reckless Endangerment. The book's authors are a long time New York Times business reporter and a respected independent research analyst. But Kuttner has trouble coming to terms with the conclusion in Reckless, namely that the revered progressive ideal of homeownership for everyone is a very real culprit.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/07/fanni…
It is apparent that Kuttler cannot bring himself to acknowledge that "big government" was a prime mover and shaker in the subprime meltdown. The subsequent economic collapse had since been blamed on the Bush tax cuts by every Democrat politician and liberal media pundit. Can't get away with that anymore.

Gunwalker and the budget: Crises in the integrity of government
The mainstream media are failing to address two central truths about key domestic issues for America this summer.
1. Agencies of the US federal government created the “Gunwalker” problem.
2. Mr. Obama is the one who will decide who gets paid after 2 August, if there is no budget deal.
The two issues are largely unrelated, except through the principles on which the Obama administration has handled them and the MSM are dealing with them.
Barack Obluffer
There is something surreal and unnerving about the so-called “debt ceiling” negotiations staggering on in Washington. In the real world, negotiations on an increase in one’s debt limit are conducted between the borrower and the lender. Only in Washington is a debt increase negotiated between two groups of borrowers.
Nothing good is going to come from these ludicrously protracted negotiations over laughably meaningless accounting sleights-of-hand scheduled to kick in circa 2020. All the charade does is confirm to prudent analysts around the world that the depraved ruling class of the United States cannot self-correct, and, indeed, has no desire to. http://visiontoamerica.org/2441/barack-obluffer/#…
Kathleen Sebelius doesn’t know what premium support is–and she should
That is, if she wants to be critical of Paul Ryan’s plan. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was quick to say that seniors would “die sooner” under the Ryan Medicare plan, but did she even read it and furthermore does she even understand it? One would think that she would understand “premium support” as she’s a former insurance commissioner. Kaiser Health News reviews premium support and its history (emphasis mine):
Under a premium support system, the government would pay a percentage toward the insurance premium for each individual; there would likely be more help for low-income and sicker people. And enrollees could (not required) kick in more money to get better coverage.
Let’s take a look at her ‘confuzzled’ look as she was clearly caught off-guard by Congressman Michael Burgess (R-TX and a physician) as seen here at the July 13 subcommittee hearings (skip to .59 to 2:16):
http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2011/07/16/k…
The Weekly Standard also reiterates and shreds her original comment:
This, of course, is as ludicrous as it is uncouth. First, the Ryan plan (which wouldn’t affect anyone who is not yet 55 years old) would not give seniors a voucher, as Sebelius well knows. Instead, the government would provide premium support to help seniors purchase private health insurance. Seniors would pick the insurance plan of their choice, and the government would funnel the premium support directly to the insurer — just as it does for Medicare Advantage, the Medicare prescription drug benefit, and the health care system for members of Congress.
In short, seniors wouldn’t “die sooner” under Ryan’s plan. But Medicare would die sooner without it.
This is just more proof that Sebelius is nothing more than a partisan mouthpiece. Her ideology gives away her game with her wanting to insert government into the playing field, and further evidenced the day before by none other than Paul Ryan who grills Sebelius on whether seniors should have control of their own health care and choices for their drug coverage. Sebelius stumbles at the basic principle of allowing seniors to choose their own plan, but knows that choice is good for competition, and would gladly put the government at the top of that competitive scale.
Update: This is not the first time Sebelius has been clueless. http://blogs.forbes.com/davidwhelan/2011/01/28/ka…
Marco Rubio on Face the Nation
Is there anybody in Washington at the moment who articulates the conservative philosophy more effectively than Florida Senator Marco Rubio?
Rubio was on Face the Nation this morning and dismantled each one of Bob Schieffer’s points, counter-points and regurgitated talking points. I wish more conservative Republicans in Congress could communicate this clearly:
