Thought many might find the below to have some good thinking and talking points? I’m not tech savy, so I will just tell you that the items numbered below are all links that can be clicked on, but I don’t know if they will come out that way here. Please advise if there is a way to get you these links if interested.

Videos of the January 25, 2010, session of the Austin Constitution meetup are here. The 2-hour recorded segment was broken into 13 ten-minute segments to make them fit the requirements of YouTube, but you may find that convenient for your own viewing.

Thanks to Lela Pittenger for serving the role as “host” to my “guest” in this interview-style session. Many topics are covered, including:

    1. History of Nullification
    2. Texas Nullification Proposal
    3. Why Courts Can’t Defend the Constitution
    4. How Nullification Might Work
    5. Reform of How American History is Taught
    6. You Must Draft the Language
    7. How to Get Reforms Enacted
    8. How Public Decisions are Made
    9. How to Get Better Public Decisions
    10. How Sociopaths Infest Government
    11. Building Civic Virtue
    12. How We Might Raise Adults
    13. Lancasterian Method of Education

This also begins the next series of Lectures on the Constitution

I’m still pondering this Toyota/Honda recall business….and how GM just ‘happened’ to have an ad campaign ready to roll out the next day. Hmmmm…..makes one wonder doesn’t it?

I’m still mad at GM for discontinuing the mid-size Trailblazer SUV :( Best car I’ve ever owned. She’s 7 years old and my options now are much smaller or much larger. I may just try a keep ‘er going another 7 years !

I too have a Trailblazer (sort of…mine is back in shop with a faulty fuel pump). But I love it (sadly, its a lease and with the wisdom of GMAC the residual value is worth more than they are currently selling extended body TBs off their used lot!!!) GMAC doesn’t want to ‘deal’ the price is the price is the price…

And we wonder why GM failed!?!?

The Trailblazer is not too big; not too small; great cargo; excellent in snow on hills.

        Grrr…

        I digress.

The other day Rush had a caller on…a former Toyota employee (who is still in auto business but with another brand). He stated that Toyota mechanics were NOT able to ‘recreate’ the current gas pedal issue in the shop. (The previous recall, involving the rug and the pedal getting stuck…could be ‘made to happen.’) The caller questioned too the timing and the GM readiness to pounce (the rebate program up and ready at a moments notice).

        Does make one wonder…

        • KarenWI says:
          2010/01/31 at 4:52 pm

Did I hear something about GM saying it offered some thousand dollars or more to anyone who would “switch” now from Toyota to them? And where do you suppose they got the money to be able to offer that??? Guess…..

    • sundancefan says:

Bilderberg Group denies Japan enterance into the “secret society” during 2009 meeting. US Government takes over GM 2009. Toyota and Honda multi-billion financial impact, recall 2010.

US auto industry (GM) appear to have fortunate preparation to capitalize.

      Yes, curiousor and curiousor…

    • J Mattingly says:
      2010/01/31 at 2:19 pm

Toyota is to be commended for taking immediate and drastic action. They stopped selling new cars and trucks, shut down factories and submitted a plan to the U.S. Goverrnment on how they would solve the problem. I sold new Toyotas in the early 80′s. Their customers are loyal. Their trust of Toyota is unparalelled in the auto industry. The repairs will quick. The recall was not a good thing, but owners should feel comfortable in how it was handled.

    • MOmom says:
      2010/01/31 at 3:38 pm

I’ve been wondering the same thing. The Unions are not going to care at all if Toyota goes out of business, because Toyota is not union labor. And now Honda has a recall. Obama and his progressives would have one government run company.

Imagine if GM has a recall. Who do you think will suffer the losses. Not the selfish unions.

Will someone please ask Obama what his exit plan is to get out of car ownership?

      • 1539days says:
        2010/01/31 at 7:12 pm

GM won’t have a recall. I have a busted speedometer and every other owner has said GM won’t admit to it. Just buy another $300 insturment panel and wait for it to mysteriously happen again. I use a GPS.

Toyota knows they will get more loyalty by being responsive. Ford is doing better than GM anyway. Ford didn’t steal taxpayers money and the taxpayers think about that when they buy a car.

Lech Walesa is one of the few people in this century that won the Nobel Peace Prize and he actually did something significant to get it. His leadership of the Polish Solidarity movement and the work of Pope John Paul, with the support of Reagan is at the heart of why the USSR fell apart.

I’m not suprised that he stands for honest government, I am surprised that he’s supporting a politician for state office.

Ben Nelson is a loser…I sent him an e-mail 2 weeks ago to ask that he do the right thing and change his vote if the healthcare bill came back to the Senate. I also told him I’m tired of his commercials playing nonstop trying to justify his vote and asked what specific poll he was citing that said a majority of Nebraskans supported his vote. I got the same canned response he sent a month ago to another e-mail I sent telling me he voted for the bill on Dec 24th and why. You’re right, he’s the whore of the Senate and I’m embarrassed he’s representing my state!

Yes, I get the same thing from CO Senators Udall and Bennett …. I write to them asking them NOT to support the health care bill, summarizing less costly ways of reducing insurance costs, they reply with canned letters telling me how excited they are about the health care bill and what a good job they are doing for Colorado. Really?

Totally ignoring every single thing I said to him, and just a “canned” response back. This is “representing” us??? Yeah, right. “Taxation without representation”- sound familiar? I think I heard that in history class about the American Revolution…..

Hawaii has rejected gay marriage. Their House is almost entirely Democrat. Their Speaker is Democrat. So of course the MSM ignores those teensy weensy facts and points out the fact that the state has a Republican Governor. Who had absolutely nothing to do with the decision. So of course they have to deflect from that by saying she’s unlikely to veto. Who effing cares? The Democrats made the decision.

I don’t know how likely it is that that tactic would work, but there are a lot of people who couldn’t be expected to know that Hawaii is Dem controlled.

It’s a bit like the GOP Conference in Baltimore where Obambi all but walked on water, according to the MSM. (He actually was dismisive, never answered a question and came accross as a boob.) Everyone needs to be screaming from the rooftops that these people are lying.

    • Ten says:
      2010/01/31 at 2:16 pm

I guess I’ve become accustomed to the MSM and their lack of equality in reporting.

That said, isn’t it interesting that all these Democratic state governments always put up a gay marriage bill, which they know many will object to, instead of a civil union or partnership rights bill, which would be overwhelmingly supported. I makes you wonder about their true motivation, doesn’t it?

    • MichL says:
      2010/01/31 at 5:14 pm

The same thing pretty much happened in NY as well. Dem gov, dem legis. NO to gay marriage! Those dems sure are looking out for their gay supporters. Vote for us, we’re on your side!! What a joke.

    • Maile says:

Hawaii is the bluest state in the nation, (not MA) in a democratic vice-grip since the beginning of time, with a 95% corrupt Democratic Legislature. We have 2 86 yr. old Dems. representing us in the WH. The same Dems. that rejected the gay marriage bill, was accused of launching a whisper campaign during the elections alleging that now R-Gov. Linda Lingle was a lesbian, and that because she was Jewish, she would abolish Christmas as a state holiday. This is why they hate her and block her every move to improve the state:

Linda Lingle on June 4, 1953) is the sixth and current Governor of Hawaii. She was sworn in for a second term as Governor on December 4, 2006. Lingle holds a number of distinctions: first Republican elected governor of Hawaii since the departure of William F. Quinn in 1962, first county mayor elected governor of Hawaii, first female governor of Hawaii, first Jewish governor of Hawaii; and the first governor of Hawaii not to have any children. During the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City, Lingle served as chairman of the convention during the absence of permanent chairman Dennis Hastert from the convention floor.
Prior to her gubernatorial administration, Lingle served as Maui County mayor, councilmember, and chaired the Hawaii Republican Party. On November 20, 2006, her approval rating stood at 71% with only 24% disapproval.

They have been punishing her for introducing Sarah Palin at the RNC Convention and of course they continue the Dem MO blaming the past administration…until SCOTT BROWN..so, the RNC with Michael Steele, just had their winter Caucus meeting here, regrouping…the dems are scared.

      • Maile says:
        2010/01/31 at 8:55 pm

Also, it’s an election year. There are so many major issues in HI right now, economy, foreclosures, kids on furlough days, Akaka Bill (reparation to native Hawaiians), Obama fury,on and on. So, this bill will arise again in better times and most likely pass.

My Aunt sent this to the RNC awhile back, I have been sending it around too.. Especially when the Dem’s start up the all they say is NO.. Damn right.

Our party could turn the tables on Democrats who accuse Republicans of being the ‘Party of NO!’.
Being a member of the ‘Party of No!’ should be worn as a badge of honor.

These are some of this administration’s policies we say NO! to:

No to: Massive spending bills passed without debate, or even being read.
No to: Zero transparency or accountability on how the money is being spent.
No to: A huge expansion of nanny government without the consent of the governed.
No to: Our form of government being changed at warp speed into Socialism.
No to: The idiocy of not using American resources to meet America’s energy needs.
No to: A Cap and Trade bill that will lower the standard of living of every American by onerous
taxes. (Except the opportunists who fabricated the scam and are now set
        to reap billions from it)
No to: The destruction of our health system.
No to: Explosion of the national debt.
No to: Nationalization of private companies
No to: The destruction of wealth and redistribution of what’s left.
No to: Policies which have resulted in an unemployment rate that hasn’t topped out yet.
No to: The bailouts – banks, AIG, automakers, etc.

Republicans must be the ‘PARTY OF NO’ to stop the obscene power grab by this out of control government
or we will witness the end of the most successful form of government the world has ever known. It will
be replaced by a form of government in which power is restricted to a few. That is known as an oligarchy.

The simple phrase, the ‘Party of NO!’ should resonate with Republicans, Independents, and even some
Democrats who didn’t realize what Obama meant by ‘change.’

I am proud to be a member of the ‘Party of No.’

I belonged to the Dem. party for 40+ years, but am seriously thinking of switching my registration. It does my old heart good to see and hear younger folks who are not all Obamabots. I always told my republican husband that I did not want to live in a third world country so I believed more than he in taxes for programs. BUT this BHO administration is aided by Wall St, funneling our money to Wall St through FED and Geithner (now no limit on amts. available to Fannie/Freddie!) Thoroughly rotten Dem. thugs and robbers; I do not trust ANY of their “reform bills” because NO ONE reads them to find out what ELSE unrelated is in them! The HC bills stunk, the baning regs proposed say the feds can take over any companies deemed possible of failing, etc. Hey folks, I do NOT want govt ownership of the means of production of wealth; hasn’t worked anywhere else! NO to communism. And I still think that congress is complicit in the Usurper’s birth cover up; what they are covering up, I do not know, but it infuriates me no end.
I studied communism with an 8th grade priest in Catholic school who made us all learn their dogma & practices. BHO is a longtime in the making Manchurian Candidate I believe. Keep up the good work. Do not be surprised if there are many Dem. defectors in Nov., not just because of Medicare cuts (selfish) but because we remember the feared communist policies and want better for our country.

Obama’s political machine is now openly astroturfing. Check this out:

    “Groundswell”
    http://groundswell.barackobama.com/

    From the site:
“Each day, millions of Americans turn to talk radio as a trusted source of news and opinions on the big issues of the day. Getting thousands of OFA supporters to call in to these shows in support of President Obama’s agenda will have a dramatic impact — and will help shape public opinion.

But we need you to make it happen. Once you’ve created an account, we’ll give you the name of a radio show near you and a link to where you can learn more about the show and listen in. Then just answer three simple questions about the show: Is it political? What language is it in? Do they accept calls from listeners?
…with hundreds of other top volunteers nationwide, you’ll build a comprehensive list of radio shows for thousands of other OFA supporters to use to make calls.
It’s the first project of OFA Groundswell, a new tool to help break down big projects into simple parts that volunteers across the country can quickly complete together.
Check out OFA Groundswell and help us build a list of talk radio programs today”

Our son is 15 & our daughter is 12 and they are VERY well versed in political theory, conservativism and the realities of the progressive left’s agenda by now. If you explain the basics to kids when they are young they are better equipped to deal with the rampant liberalism in public schools, the university system & the job market.

Can you get arrested for talking about God, religion or politics in certain shopping malls? Apparently you can:

“Arguments have moved to the appellate court level in a California case in which a man talking to two willing strangers in a shopping mall was arrested because the subject of the conversation was God.”

    Link:
    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=123535

This mall also bans clothing with religious or political messages (I wonder if that means they kick out ‘goth’ types too?)

This could be happening near you too if you have a Westfield-owned mall in your area.

    • Jessica says:
      2010/01/31 at 3:29 pm

What’s also interesting is that PAID canvassers are allowed to harass anyone they want to at the malls here in SoCal. I was at Fashion Valley down in San Diego a couple of months ago and at least 5 of them came at me with petitions in hand. They were pushing all kinds of Dem talking points. Now I happen to agree with marriage equality but I’m not going to give my name and number to some college student being paid by the DNC. And they were NASTY to anyone who refused to sign, regardless of the motivation behind the refusal.

    • Conservative Pat says:

    • Kristie says:
      2010/01/31 at 4:51 pm

I’m torn on this one. On the one hand, I think this mall violated this guys rights to free speech & infinged on the religious liberty of not only the pastor but on the people he was talking with. But on the other hand, the mall is private property and the owners have the right to decide who uses their property and for what purpose. It’s a slippery slope because if you affirm his right to free speech on someone else’s property you infringe on the rights of the property owner to decide how his property is used and that could open up a big can of worms. That being said, I think the mall owners are total douche nozzles and they had no right to assault this young man the way their security did.

      • indiegirl says:
        2010/01/31 at 5:39 pm

the first amendment doesn’t speak to private property owners at all… it says “congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech.”

the mall owners can make whatever rules they want. and people can exercise their freedom to shop elsewhere to show their displeasure.

did the youth pastor know the mall’s rules? if so, then he was trespassing. if not, and if it’s true that he offered to leave but was manhandled and arrested anyway, that’s a different story.

Just enjoyed an article from the Times of London about the local reaction to the reality of Dr. Utopia:

Chicago cools to Barack Obama, its hometown boy

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article7009686.ece#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=797093

The article ends what I think they intend as a hopeful note:

“There was better news on Friday when figures showed GDP grew at 5.7%, the fastest level in six years, in the last quarter, driven largely by a rebound in manufacturing and consumer spending.

For Gordy’s barbershop it might mean less chat and more haircuts. For Obama it may, just, prove his salvation.”

Sorry, chaps, that GDP bump was driven primarily by inventories being replenished from Cash for Clunkers, etc. Unless sales jump (and that is most unlikely), next quarter’s GDP will fall out of bed and the panic among Dr. Utopia’s minions will increase accordingly.

As I said, I enjoyed the article.

It had to do with inventory restocking…

If it were not for that.. it would have been 2.2%.

Once Wallstreet figured that out.. The Dow dropped 57 points. S&P dropped and so did the Nasdaq. Consumer spending was down.(again) Our economy is based on consumer spending.

Global warming science implodes overseas: American media silent

The revelations have been nothing short of jaw dropping. Dozens – yes dozens – of claims made in the IPCC 2007 report on climate change that was supposed to represent the “consensus” of 2500 of the world’s climate scientists have been shown to be bogus, or faulty, or not properly vetted, or simply pulled out of thin air.

We know this because newspapers in Great Britain are doing their job; vetting the 2007 report item by item, coming up with shocking news about global warming claims that formed the basis of argument by climate change advocates who were pressuring the US and western industrialized democracies to transfer trillions of dollars in wealth to the third world and cede sovereignty to the UN.

As our Hillbuzz friends know firsthand, they also teach you how to pick a target and spread whatever lies you have to in destroying them. We want this stuff taught to our children? Thanks Hoosier Lady for your insight on Alinski.

The guy is awful. He is not believable. He did nothing but whine. He never stepped up to offer George Bush any support. He is a real pain in the …..

He’s not living in the same world sane people are living in. If things get much worse for him, I really think the guy is going to “lose it”, so to speak, on national television one of these days. He’s going to have everyone scratching their heads.

Perhaps Rahmie ought to accompany Obamie on these trips and, just before he gets ready to bow, whisper in his ear that it is a Republican before whom he is about to prostrate himself: that would break him of this habit — at least in public — right away.

He isn’t bowing. The WH guys are always saying that he doesn’t bow. They are right.
His ego is so big that his head automatically tilts either backwards or forwards. Usually, he tries to keep it tilted back (hence the nose-in-the-air posture) but when he actually has to look someone in the eye, his head falls forward and he has to grab the hand of the person in front of him to keep from falling face forward on the pavement.
So, see? You guys. It’s not bowing!

I’m seeing a lot of posts of “alarm”….

Obama is not going to drive a tank down Pennsyvlania Avenue and take over the country…lol.

I’ve not seen these posters before so I’m suspicious of all these alarming posts popping up suddenly.

    It’s like…”THE BRITISH ARE COMING!!!”

Our single most important weapon in this country is our finger. We can vote the far-left out of office and replace them with conservatives who value or constitution. Nobody can take that away from us. Not even Mr. Utopia. This ain’t Venezuela. No Hugo wannabe is gonna get away with that crap in the USA.

We can be informed, aware, educated, and smart. And we can vote the idiots out of office.

    • nomobama says:
      2010/01/31 at 5:03 pm

The alarm is valid because we’ve witnessed how the canal operates. They are sneaky, and they’ll try to pull a fast one if it gets them what they want. We need to swarm now at every provocation lest we wake up to our worse fears. Much shenanigans can happen in the upcoming months before November. Obama may not drive a tank down Pennsylvania Avenue, but he’ll grab more unwarranted power for the federal government however way he can. Give these monsters an inch, and they’ll be guaranteed to take a mile. We need to show them that we are serious about our opposition to them NOW, not later. Scott Brown’s election showed this dynamic. If the Democrats use force then we (and I am writing this as a Democrat) must respond in a like manner.

Agreed nomobama! Bambi’s most potent weapon seems to be his middle finger, whereas ours is our blogs. Secondly, I doubt he could figure out how to get into a military tank, much less drive one. His attempts to build a domestic army are for what purppose? IMO he has “gotten away” with far too much CRAP already such as attempting to build a domestic army, taking over private businesses, etc., etc., etc.,… Lech Welesa sees this…he’s been there, he’s been through that…

        • Bev says:
          2010/01/31 at 6:36 pm

I agree but we have to be careful at the same time. The Dems “plant” stories to distract people all the time. They absolutely love when we get all worked up over a story and get distracted from what they’re really doing. They do this with the third party stuff…”Republicans are just as evil” stuff…and they throw out stories about socialism to get people worked up and in a huff. Obama even mocked it in his talk with the Republicans.

Vigilant yes…call them out..yes. But when you see everyone focused on a particular story take a step back and look around. They might just be hiding something else they’re doing. Glenn Beck points this out all the time. Example: Everybody was talking last weekend about how his advisors had gone out and goofed up the jobs numbers (three advisors gave three different numbers). His advisors did that on purpose…

Atlas Shrugs reported last night that a reader, Chuck, has a student in the eleventh grade in an Ohio High School. Her government class passed out this propaganda recruiting paper so students could sign up as interns for Obama’s Organizing for America (OFA is the former mybarackobama.com site.)

Obama is using our public school system to recruit for his Alinsky-inspired private army. Organizing for America is (and I quote) recruiting in our high schools to “build on the movement that elected President Obama by empowering students across the country to help us bring about our agenda” …………of national socialism.

But he is plenty conservative enough, and RINO comment is not accurate. I’ll be voting for Mark Kirk on Tuesday and urge everyone else to consider doing so as well. I think it’s anyone’s game now. Even Alexi (U’s basketball buddy) was considered a shoe-in for the Dem spot and now it’s not so certain.

Kirk was one of the 8 RINOs who voted for Cap and Trade. I just can’t forgive him for that. Obviously if he’s the candidate in Nov. I’d vote for him before Alexi, but his vote for C and T just showed me what a sucker he is for a false cause.

    Hillbuzz – RE:podcasting
I’ve been spending some time this afternoon reading up on how to do podcasting using Garage Band and iTunes. Most of it makes sense so far, but here is something I’m not familiar with and wanted to know if you are familiar with doing RSS feeds of your blog?

To share your podcast with iTunes users, you must create an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) file from your blog. RSS feed providers, such as FeedBurner, make it easy to create an RSS file from your blog. For more information, visit http://www.feedburner.com. If you choose, you can create your own RSS file. In this case, if you intend to submit your podcast to iTunes, first review the iTunes Extended Podcast RSS specification, which contains useful information on creating your podcast RSS file to work optimally in the iTunes Podcast Directory.

Other than this – the actual recording of the podcast should be fairly simple. You just record it on Garage Band in MP3 and upload into iTunes and convert to AAC (but I did see one comment that it could be MP3 or AAC) It then sounds fairly simple to upload it for podcasts. It sounds like you can set up a podcast group as Hillbuzz, so that when people search that term on iTunes it will show up. As long as you don’t use copyrighted materials like music, you should be fine. (Just need to be careful to adhere to that or your enemies will surely use it to hit you on another front.)

Here are the two links I’ve been reading the most.

The case for Andrzejewski in 4.5 Minutes

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye7kE3owRQo&hl=en_US&fs=1&]

Andrzejewski is running on a platform of forensically auditing Illinois’ books and exposing corruption by making the details of the audit available to the public.

On my mind today. Why do we care if Kalid Sheik Mohammad is tried in NYC. If Obama insists on trying these weasels in Civilian courts, let it be in NYC. These Damn New Yorkers are die hard liberals and Obama ass kissers, let them live (or die) with the consequences of their actions.
I remember after 9/11, everyone in America wanted to do anything they could to help New yorkers, we felt we all were Americans and wanted to help.
After 2 or 3 years of the war on terror the A-hole new yorkers reverted back to their America hating, military hating, elite loving, southerner hating selves. Spitting in faces of all the people that wished them well during the 9/11 period. SCREW THEM!! I don’t think I’ll care if a terrorist attack happens in NYC at freakin’ all.

I can assure you that not all New Yorkers feel that way. I know that you are angry with liberals, but as an American formerly from New Jersey, I wouldn’t want to see anything bad happen to any part of this country. Confront your fellow Americans with superior ideas, not hate. Liberalism has gained a foothold through years of school indoctrination, immigration, unionism, plus a host of other reasons. If ideas are presented in a sound, logical, intelligent ways, even many liberals can be swayed to agree with them.

If you were to say ‘screw you’ to every person under the sun that doesn’t get what is in your heart, that would be the only thing that is on your lips and a waste of your life.

No one can demonize you without your consent. It should be like water off of a duck’s back. Yes, some days that can be wearing on one’s soul, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the wrong thing to do. Sometimes doing the right thing can kick your ass.

I wonder if anyone has noticed that Dick Cheney is more believable, when he says he is in favor of gays serving in the military, and gay marriage, than Obama is? Why is it now going to take “several years” to get rid of DADT? If Obama really wanted to repeal it, he could do it with an exec. order. He’s jerking the gay community around. Again.

I agree. Sometimes, it takes a homosexual family member to force a family to come to terms with how certain issues should be addressed. Some will cut strings while many others will realize that discrimination is just wrong. Even those who cut strings will many times reinitiate a relationship after some thought.

This is why terrorist, enemies of war should not be considered civilians with “rights”. They are enemies of the state. Please read this article of a prison guard who faced brutality at the hands of two terrorists (Pay close attention to his face and what they inflicted on him) who were involved in plot to blow up African embassy. Also here is a comment from this article that is food for thought;do not know if true or credible:

Emmerich Vattel writes in “laws of Nations”, the foundation of internationaoo.coml law and the laws of war (Geneva convention), that anyone captured committing wartime hostilities not in uniform (his license to kill), is regarded as a common assassin whom no law can protect, and can be hanged by whoever might find and seize him.

A combatant (protected by the Geneva Convention) is someone wearing the uniform of the sovereign under whose agency he acts. Terrorists do not wear uniforms, they do not act as agents of any valid authority, but are asserting their own will (criminal intent) and are directly responsible for their actions. They are civilian assassins (common criminals) who, under the laws of war, may be shot on sight.

Vattel also writes that an enemy that does not abide by the rules of warfare may be treated in the same manner that he treats others, so that he may be forced to recognize and obey the laws of humanity and the laws of war.

It’s time we start acting like adults.

I’m sure someone else has notified you but Hillbuzz was mentioned on Vodkapundit’s “The Week in Blogs” last week. It was the post about what has happened to all those people who dissed HRC. Sorry I don’t have the link but it’s on pjtv.com, and it’s in the one about “ObamaGirl losing her crush”.
