Sunday Open Thread: February 28th, 2010

Posted on February 28, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s on your minds this Sunday?

********

Drudge Report is hitting the Church of Anthropogenic Climate Change HARD today.  Three different stories are linked exposing the fraud Al Gore and his “climatologists” committed, in a trillions-of-dollars scheme to redistribute Western wealth through a “carbon-trade” market.

* A Perfect Storm Brewing for the IPCC

* Committee to Review Procedures

* Here’s Al Gore’s (who had been missing for some time, but has apparently now been found) feeble excuse…he claims he and his “climatologists” only made “a few mistakes”.

Actually, ManBearPig, with all due respect, you made more than “a few mistakes”.

(1) Polar Bears are not going extinct.  There are more of them today than there ever were in recorded history.

(2) The Himalayan glaciers are not melting, as you claim.

(3) Sea levels are not rising, as you claim.

(4) The rain forest is not being destroyed by climate change, but by agriculture.

(5) Hurricanes are less frequent now than they were 60 years ago, which is the opposite of what you insist.

(6) Earthquakes are not caused by climate change, as many of your followers believe.

(7) Your 2007 UN Report is riddled with more errors than a Wikipedia entry written by a fifth grader.  It was not based on sound science, but on scare-mongering and wishful thinking on the part of “scientists” who stood to make a great deal of money by starting a global panic and manipulating Liberal followers into forming a new cult, all centered around yourself as the “Gore-acle”.

It’s a wonder the American media continues to get away with avoiding all reporting on the collapse of the Anthropogenic Global Warming cult. The Olympics have been the latests excuse not to report on this, but that ends today. Earthquakes of late is probably the next reason not to report on any of it…too busy talkin’ ’bout da ‘quakes.  Can’t do two things at once!

What it boils down to, though, as many articles state, is that the American media is 100% a member of Gore’s cult.  They BELIEVE his lies, so they won’t report anything to the contrary.  That makes it highly unlikely they will ever admit the truth, because in doing so they’d be forced to admit their own stupidity.  Do you really think that will happen?

So, on the grassroots level, regular people need to find a way to get the truth about the Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming out to the public at large.

How can we do that?

It’s  a real test of new media and grassroots activism…to see if there is a way to effectively disseminate information that’s been embargoed by the news networks and publishing world.

CAN we do this?

How?

Any ideas?

Dr. U had his first medical exams today…supposedly he is in “excellent health” but as we now know…”they” will only tell us what they want us to know. Also, isn’t it just special coincidence that this happened today, three days before they attempt to shove the healthcare bill through..??

On my mind today, is Government Motors paying the past CEO $3,000 per hour to determine an international strategy mean that they are trying to figure out how to produce cars overseas? Why is the new CEO to be paid $1.7 Million in cash plus stocks? What happened to the Pay Czar?

Now you see that we (conservatives) are not the crazy people the media & libs make us out to be after all. Overall, we are more level-headed and take things in stride better than the libs. We believe in & respect the people’s rights to free speech, even if we are being attacked or if someone’s speech is full of lies.

They need to bury this once and for all:

Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND), who runs the committee that would have to run a reconciliation push, says that the budgetary process can’t be used for ObamaCare. It would only address the actual budgetary issues, which leaves a lot off the table. The Budget Committee chair told CBS’ Face the Nation audience that reconciliation wasn’t designed for this purpose, nor is it appropriate for such sweeping legislation:

Here’s what should have happened. When a church that Sarah was affiliated with was set on fire a week before Christmas, John McCain should have requested secret service protection for Sarah Palin and her family, as this was an act of violance directed toward her, and at least an intimidation tactic. I called, and called, and called John McCain and the Bush justice department to express my concern for their safety. All of the attacks against her are directly linked back to the McCain campaign. The governor of Alaska does not have layers of protection like the POTUS or even the governor of California for that matter. If she had been granted secret service protection, it would have warded off most of the bogus ethics charges that was impeeding her ability to focus her un-divided attention on the task at hand, and the department of Justice would have been obligated to screen out the bogus lawsuits which would eventually bankrupt her and her family.

We have a lot of courage in politics, it just happens to be that Sarah Palin and her family have it all!

Our citizenry does not deserve Sarah Palin for president. I hope she don’t run for her family’s sake. For the first time I agree with that dirtbag Bill Mahr “Americans a stupid” You need no further proof than the election of Barack Obama. Sorry! I call it the way I see it. Our nation is morally bankrupt. The lack of outrage by so many prominate people is mind numbing. Instead, people from the so called “Right” are pilling on, caus it’s the cool thing to do, don’t ya know? I feel bad for all the loyal Palin supporters. We all love her so much, and know she would be a magnificent president. I remember a quote from Reagan, “a nation without God, is a nation gone under” Again, I’m sorry to call it the way I see it. The public’s perception damage of Sarah Palin is too far gone, (perception is reality) and she knows it. Sarah said it in so many words “a higher calling” would not be the words of someone running for president. Her very being alone has exposed the wickedness of Liberals and will be the death of Liberalism. That’s her “higher calling” and it’s working.

I’m the furthest thing from a “Troll” I’ have been out there fighting tooth and nail against this historic attack, smear campaign sgainst one of the finest Americans period.

I have tracked down some of the scum that post the most disgusting comments on Sarah’s facebook page. It has gooten me in trouble, but it’s worth it. It’s weard how so many of these leftist, as you would say “Trolls” are not even Americans, some turn out to be european elites. I have the battle scars to prove it. Boyz and fellow BuzzPeeps…if you live where there is ‘weather’ you need to ridicule Algore and GOREther movement every opportunity you get.

As I was load the bottom of my Giant Iggle shopping cart with 25# bags of rock salt, I said, for no one in particular to hear ‘Thanks AlGore, you and your STUPID Global Warming’ and the guy lifting the 50# pounders on to his cart (cheaper to buy, not cheaper when I include the cost of ensuing pain meds) said, and I quote ‘he’s such an a$$hole.’ Ha! Political commentary in the lobby of the Big Bird.

Buy a non Apple product, let Apple KNOW (include a copy of the receipt) why you purchased HP or Toshiba (because they don’t have AlGore on their Board of Directors–I checked).

Any time you see an article in a local paper supporting the Church of AGW, drop an email to them…’what, what Global Warming??? Its all a big lie!!!’ and submit links to the UK Time, Telegraph, Mail…why…because the US media no longer ‘do’ journalism. Like when I was a teen, and I read Tiger Beat Magazine…well…about the same journalistic standards apply today. But instead of David Cassidy being dreamy (yes, I am that old) its AlGore and his curly light bulbs that set their hearts aflutter. But NOT in the UK…the Brits don’t seem to ‘buy into’ dreamy, control crap…they prefer to investigate and make fools of liars, and get people arrested at best, and ostracized at least. HAIL BRITTANIA!!! Our media is more concerned with ‘buff arms,’ fawning adulation and when all else fails, cries of ‘RAAACISM’.

And lastly, if you live in PA…contact the office of State Senator Jeffrey Piccola, he is the Chairman of the PA State Senate Education Committee…the same committee that oversees state colleges…like the cozy, wagon encircled enclave of one Dr. Michael ‘Hockeystick’ Mann at Penn State University. Sen. Piccola’s office has ceased ‘thank you for your interest’ form letters in response to PSU complicity in the Anthropogenic Global Warming FRAUD and I think is actually starting to ‘investigate.’

    His office phone number: 717-787-6801
    His office email address: jpiccola@pasen.org
Snail mail address: Senate Box 203015, Harrisburg, PA 17120-3015

Pressure to FULLY investigate the malfeasance of Mann and PSU must be kept up!

(Thanks Boyz for another AGW thread to keep posting this info!)

Listened to Art Bell from 1994 when the Clinton scandal was THE major news topic. Art told this joke. Hillary and Bill were back in Arkansas and stopped for gas. The owner of the station was an old boyfriend of Hillary’s. As they got back in the car Bill said, “Just think Hillary, if you had married him instead of me you might be here working in that gas station.” Hillary, replied, “No Bill, if I had married him, he’d be President of the United States.”

I laughed but also thought, how true, how true.

So, each situation is different, but more they post, it becomes clearer to see.

Differences I dont see as trolling, there are many conservatives and indies and centerist dems on this blog, and we do have disagreements, respectful and genuine disagrements.

But trolling? the more see their responses, it becomes more obvious, and also easier to prove.

What’s on my mind? The Chilean earthquake. Truly a catastrophic event; experts have said the Chilean quake was 500 times stronger than the quake that hit Haiti, but look at the difference in the death toll because of building standards and preparedness. (And yes, I realize Haiti is a desperately poor country and that is a big factor in the death toll there.)

Are we in America as prepared as we should be?

Civil engineers in states which are prone to earthquakes have to pass a special version of the Professional Engineering exam in order to be certified to design earthquake-proof buildings. The same thing goes for engineers who work in cities with lots of skyscrapers (different wind current considerations), lots of snow, and sinkholes (think Florida).

Nothing will ever be perfect, and the larger the earthquake, the higher the damage. There are special codes which must be followed before a site is ever approved for large construction, which lessens considerably the chance of large loss of life due to building collapse. This doesn’t help in buildings which were built before these codes went into practice, but any new construction has to meet these codes, and they are always being tweaked as more information becomes available about effective building practices.

    Well, that didn’t take long.

After seeing countless clips from movies and TV shows on YouTube that had been up for ages, I posted a 20-second clip from a TV show to illustrate my point that Dr. U is a pathological liar the other day. It’s been reported for copyright violation and taken down.

I suppose its possible that the Burn Notice people routinely troll YouTube searching for tiny clips of their shows on rarely-used accounts, or that a regular poster here is a Copyright Cop of some sort, but I kinda doubt it. (And, in my defense, I would think a clip like that would be more helpful than harmful to the show, as it could potentially pique the interest of someone who is not currently watching it, but I digress.)

I’m not griping like, “Waah, waah, other people do it all the time,” because I didn’t ask for permission to post it. I’m not railing at the injustice or anything. I’m just noting that, if I ever had any doubts that this site was monitored by Obots, said doubts have now been dispelled.

    Also on my mind is:

*The beef brisket that has been in the Crock-Pot (ZOMG! COPYRIGHT!!) since 4:30 this morning, since the whole house smells like beef right now. The recipe is called “brisket with bacon and onions;” I hope my husband likes it, because that’s three strikes against it as far as I’m concerned.

*Cross stitch. I’d like to make a pattern from this portrait of George Washington: http://arlie3.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/portrait_of_george_washington.jpg (public domain, Obots, calm down) to work on once I’m done with my current project (which is enormous). For it to look like I want, it’ll have to be tiny stitches and a lot of them. I’m getting tired just thinking about it.

*My husband will be finished with training in the coming year, and he wants to be stationed overseas right after. (For the job he wants to do he’ll have to go anyway; he’d rather get it done sooner than later.) That would put us out of the country until after the 2012 election, the thought of which makes me sad, because I want to be here to help Sarah. So I’m trying to figure out what I can do in the event DH gets his wish.

*Chocolate milk. I don’t know why, either.

Anybody know anything about Myasthenia Gravis? I went to an ocular specialist on Wednesday to see if anything could be done about my drooping eyelid (I was kind of thinking that my insurance would pick up the majority of the cost of plastic surgery), only to “pass” an ice pack test and be told that I need to see a neurologist.

Apparently, if someone’s eyelid goes back to normal for just a couple of seconds after applying ice, they are almost always looking at an MG diagnosis. I have an appt. with a Dr. tomorrow (as well as another specialist in May, which was the earliest spot they had available), so I should know more then. From what I’ve been reading, this is usually fairly treatable, but now that I am reading the symptoms, I’m realizing that some of the minor nuisances that I have been experiencing over the past couple of months are probably related to MG…

It’s an autoimmune condition where the nerve endings of muscles don’t work quite right. It has something to do with Acetylcholine receptors. It causes skeletal muscles to become weak, but not to atrophy (since it’s just the nerve endings that are affected). The prognosis is generally good – there are medications that are effective – but it sounds like it can be a bit of a nuisance at times.

It’s fairly uncommon, but people with other AI conditions (I have Celiac Disease) are more likely to have more than one condition….

      Teresa,

My sister has MG. It is treatable. She had the same symptom – drooping eyelid, but she also had double vision and extreme exhaustion.

Since her diagnosis (last September), she has had her thymus removed and is doing VERY WELL. She is still on her meds, but her episodes (droopy eyelid, double vision, etc) have decreased. She is an elementary teacher with young children of her own and is doing fantastic.

I wish you well! You won’t need plastic surgery. I’ll say an extra prayer for you tonight.

      Good luck!

(I’m being evaluated myself for MG, but I don’t have the droopy eyelid- I’ve actually gone blind in one eye over the past couple of years, so we are thinking it’s something auto-immunish…like MG or MS).

Thank you, Michelle! The research that I’ve been doing does, happily, indicate that most people do very well either on medication or after a thymectomy. I’ve been having other symptoms over the past few months that made me think that I was just getting older, fatter, and lazier – exhaustion, but not like the usual tiredness (just no energy, kind of weak); having to work harder to chew; having to work a little harder to breath at times, but not from exertion; not being able to lift as much as before; etc.

It has been really frustrating, because I was feeling so good after my Celiac diagnosis – eliminating gluten from my diet was like a minor miracle in the way that I felt, and I had as much energy as I had when I was a teenager. I’m hoping that once I start treatment for this that I am able to feel that way again!

The eye specialist did tell me that if I had MG that they would not do surgery. She said that the medication would usually fix the problem.

Thanks again for the encouraging words – I really appreciate it!

This was in Investors Business Daily and I’ve seen it on other websites also. (I’m at that stage in life, don’t ask which websites please.) The word is getting out.

What’s on my mind today? I have a headache that feels like a thumb trying to work its way out of my skull through my eye socket.

I want government to stay out of business.
I want the media to stay out of government.
And I want anyone who thinks he (or she) knows what I want better than I do to stay out of the media.

Argh!!! I already know I will have to work until the day I die because there will be nothing left by the time I’m a senior.

Hey, BHO and Minions, stop spending my money and ruining my future!

Much as I love warm weather, I’d skip right past spring and summer if it would bring me to November faster.

What am I thinking about today?

I’m thinking about one of the girls on one of the teams I coach. She told me yesterday that she wants to be President one day (she’s 10) but she knows her dad won’t vote for her. I asked her why, and she said that her dad said that women should NEVER be President and even if she were a candidate, she wouldn’t get his vote because women aren’t smart enough to be President. She is a big Hillary fan, but doesn’t want her dad to know. Isn’t that so sad?

I told her that she’ll be a great President and that she needs to ignore what her dad said. I also told her to keep rooting for Hillary – one day she will be President.

I’m actually kind of ticked about that, but with those kind of people, there’s no use to arguing with them. Plus, I’m sure I’m one of those “stupid women” he’s talking about. (The guy’s a prison guard for pete’s sake).

What else is on my mind? I wish I had the knowledge and the mental tools to argue with someone about socialism. I haven’t done it yet, but when I see liberals say, “you can’t be against socialism if you send your kids to public schools or expect the police to come when you call 911 or if you drive on paved roads,” etc. How do you argue against that? To me, socialism is when the government takes over production (like GM) that competes against private enterprise, not when it provides a service to local communities. Anyone got any good words or ideas for me? I’m not good with coming up with things on my own. I’d LOVE to read a book on this that gives good, clear examples if anyone knows of one.

Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levin is MANDATORY reading. It spells it out with clear contemporary examples.
      A must read!!

I pray that little girl lives up to her potential. How sad her dad thinks like that in this day and age.

I was thinking and I do not mean to be offensive:

Michael Blosil was Marie Osmond’s son..it is reported in some places that he was gay..(though I am not certain of this myself only what I have read)..he suffered from addicitons as well as deep depression. He was also raised in the Mormon faith tradition which is very intolerant of such a lifestyle..I know the Osmond family were supporters of Mitt Romney who is also a Mormon..some have suggested that people like the Osmond family should “come out” against the Mormon church and the possible role those beliefs played in this tragic incidnet? What do you all think?

I think it is awfully easy to blame things on Mormons just because they are Mormons. They are misrepresented just as surely as gays are. One of my best friends is a lifelong Mormon. They are good family people, and my friend is currently excited because a Buddist Temple is going in close by. The Mormons are helping them!!

The people whose house we bought way back in 1985 told us that when they bought the house some Hare Krishnas were the owners before them. The old dining room was their “temple” room, and they weren’t allowed to see it, as they were unbelievers.

Imagine their surprise to discover that it was the prettiest room in the house – it was built in 1907, and that particular room has a beautiful decorative window in it!

Boyz, I know this is slow (I’m recovering from surgery, which went as well as possible, but … you know, it still takes time).

I’m a total AGW-denier, but you don’t have one of your facts straight, above. The snows actually ARE disappearing from Kilimanjaro. It’s just that it has been proven to have been caused by the deforestation of the base of the mountain. Without the trees, the bottom of the mountain has dried out, and there isn’t as much humidity at the top — so no more snow. It’s totally human-caused, but by human land-use activities (which is actually a big issue with all “global warming” measurements, per Roger Pielke) and NOT CO2.

I don’t want you making false assertions, ’cause then your opponents will pounce :-)
