Sunday Open Thread: February 13th, 2011
Ron Paul wins the straw poll at CPAC and the former governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson came in third. Two very libertarian candidates…..what are we to make of that? I heard that there was a huge libertarian presence at CPAC so do you think it was just a case of ”let’s go root for our guys”? Why do we still conduct straw polls?
What’s on your minds this Sunday?
What are people talking about in your part of the country?

Ron Paul pays the price of admission for his folks to come and vote for him. Appears Johnson must have done the same thing. Meaningless and, frankly, makes CPAC less important in the grand scheme of things. Sarah was smart to avoid this dog and pony show. NRO is touting Mitch Daniels speech. Meh.
Getting tired of these phony GDP numbers?
http://usa-wethepeople.com/2011/02/y-c-i-g-nx-and-the-gdp-bull-crap-numbers/
As usual I and millions of other Americans are getting tired of these phony GDP numbers telling me the economy is just grand. Unlike most people who can only complain I happen to be a overeducated American who can figure out where the bull crap is. It was not that difficult to figure out. In case anyone missed the news flash the government is spending way too much money. Here are the numbers.
And here’s how his disgusting Paulbots acted:
http://nation.foxnews.com/cpac/2011/02/10/cheney-heckled-cpac-draft-dodger-wheres-bin-laden
Ron Paul wins that straw poll every year. Therefore, what we can draw from that is that it is a silly poll that has no basis in reality whatsoever. Save for a possible cabinet position, Ron Paul is as close to the presidency as he is ever going to get. He is the Republican Ralph Nader, an old, disgruntled man in a cheap, ill-fitting suit whose only usefulness in presidential electoral politics is to Democrats as a Perot-esque spoiler to defeat the GOP nominee.
What I come away with from this is:
Ronulans seem to have a lot of free time on their hands to keep attending these things.
Evidently, not much going on at the Neutral Zone these days.
Thought you’d said Romulans and then did a double-take. Heh . . . good one!
I can not tell a lie….(well, I could, but…) I stole that one from someone at Hot Air. As a trekkie geek, I giggled for over two days thinking of that.
Funny thing is, it fits. Some of those people are two rounds short of a full magazine.
Ditto on the Ronulans!! As a fellow trekkie geek, are we trekkies or trekkers, or do we have too much time on our hands?
Paul should stick with Hollywood:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7RnlPQCKBQ
That’s my first thought whenever Ron is mentioned, what a dupe
Your comment is full of win. Love it!
I really wish these organizations would cease to exist. A group of 10,000 people meeting to ‘decide’ on ‘our’ choice of a candidate is misleading, to say the least.
This plays right into the hands of the Democrats who are pushing a slate of non-electable Republican candidates, waters down Republican goals and shows that Republicans still don’t get it.
We want change, not more of the same old, same old. None of these people was wanted enough by conservative voters to make them our presidential candidate in the last go round.
Putting Casper Milkytoast Mitchell up as a candidate has failure written all over it, no matter how great a speech he gave. Given that this is a values shallow voting electorate (they voted in a big smile and little more, after all) and Mitchell comes across as old (I’m no spring chicken, so I can say that!!) and unphotogenic (remember the Kennedy Nixon debates and how the sweat on Nixon’s upper lip is still written about?!)he is lacking the bombast we need and he isn’t electable.
I’m glad to see that at least Christie garnered 6%, though, so perhaps a few in the gathering have a glimmer of what is needed today.
It’s not just youth I’m talking about, it’s new ideas, a new approach, a new self-assurance and willingness to figuratively rip a little red meat off of the bone of the Democratic party.
Christie can do that. Paul Ryan can do that and they’re not the only ones. We need a little less gray hair and grayer ideas in Congress and before it’s too late, I’m hopeful that we rally our voices at a higher decibel level until we are heard by the ‘deciders’.
CPAC has been drawing the weirdos out in droves for the last few years. The man never cracks a smile.
This poll is almost irrelevant. McCain placed like 5th in 2008.
I actually agree with a fair amount of Ron Paul’s positions, but I don’t think he could ever beat Obama. Some of his policies come across as just too radical, and he kind of sounds whiny when he gets agitated.
I agree with Ron Paul 100% on 50% of his positions. But on the other 50%, he is clinically insane. I don’t think there is any way to average him out and come up with a president.
Mark Steyn used an analogy which reminds me of Ron Paul and the Paulisitians – You can mix ice cream with dog poo, but in the end, do you want to eat the ice cream?
Murray Rothbard’s isolationist fallacies
https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AYwWndJ7NAlXZGhuNWRiNnFfMjQ0ZnA3azJ2ZHg&hl=fr
Ron Paul could not beat anyone. This old Goldwater-like loser needs to go.
These libertarians are the reason the progressives and liberals have taken blacks and minorities votes away from the GOP.
Ron Paul could not beat a fly.
The man is NOT Presidential material.
To me, it is a gut feel. I do not like him for a variety of reasons. Most of all he is the epitome of a hypocrite.
Stephen Green talks about how, as Ron Paul becomes more animated in his speech, his voice pitch rises to the point only dogs can hear it. I agree, he is just not presidential.
I think that Ron Paul has good ideas on reforming Health Care in America. Aside from that I don’t see eye to eye with his libertarian views such as legalizing pot, prostitution etc. etc..
On foriegn policy he would be a disaster.
I think alot of young men support Ron Paul because of his non interventionist foriegn policy ideas. He would never get involved in over seas conflicts which is not at all realistic if America is to survive as a supper power. Yet to a young man who would never have the courage to fight for his country, Ron Paul sounds great.
So do I. I am leaning more and more isolationist, by the day. I would love to see the Fed abolished, I want the U.N. kicked out of the US to a GP small in the middle of the Sahara, right next to some B-24 they never found from WWII.\ and a few more. but…….
the Ronulans are mostly very close to leftists.
it is hard to distinguish the Ronulans from the left.
That is why I do not consider Ron Paul to be right wing… I am not convinced.
I had never realized that until this year. Perhaps, I just never gave it much thought. For a very long time, I considered myself a fairly libertarian conservative, being somewhat socially liberal. I’ll have to reassess that.
CPAC has a large number of students and young people. I don’t think it’s a good representation of the Republican party. Unfortunately, Mitt Romney wins almost every other poll.
I wonder how many people wanted to vote again after they heard Lt. Col. Allen West speak!!
most of these college republicans all are fans of Mittens because they aspire to bea junior Thurston Howell III
but the CPAC straw poll always goes to the highest $$$ bidder – kinda like the Golden Globe Awards – remember when Pia Zadora won the Golden Globe in the early 80s bought as a trinket by her sugar daddy?
Romney pays his people to go too…
Except for Allan West and a small handful of people seems like CPAC is a joke.
CPAC has a large number of students and young people. I don’t think it’s a good representation of the Republican party.
That makes sense to me.
…and re: LTD West. You know it!
Sorry Colonel, LTC
Interviews from Breitbart’s GOProud Big Gay Party at CPAC
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi952nAd8PA&feature=player_embedded
I wish I had been there…that party looked super fun. And how much do we love LOVE LOVE Sophie B. Hawkins???
Someone correct me if I’m mistaken:
Didn’t Ron Paul join the 9/11 truthers bandwagon right around the time the old Ralph Nader did?
BTW I like the Odysseus’ Ralph Nader comparison
Those votes are bought and paid for. Anyone who keeps an eye on politics knows it’s a subliminal message to the weak minded to agree.
Every year it’s usually a Libertarian event….I don’t know why or how it got that way but most people I know don’t pay attention to it. It’s probably why Sarah never goes.
When Paul’s name was announced as the winner of the CPAC straw poll (30%) yesterday, there were many “boos” from the audience, making it appear that not everyone agrees with the high-jacking of the process. Gingrich (ugh) scored 5% and Gov. Palin 3%. Yet FOX came out with a poll on Friday giving that idiot, Huckabee, 55%…go figure!
Huckabee is FOX’s fair haired boy this go round. They did everything they could to get McCain nominated and now they’re doing the same for Huck. No way, no how.
Huck has gotten really fat lately. He supposedly lost all that weight…but he gained most of it back. They never film him standing up, from the neck down. He’s a flip flopper.
I noticed that too. I can’t be too critical, but it’s always sad when a really fat guy loses all this weight, and then gains it back.
Huck is a slimebucket. He really worries me – if it’s him against Obummer, for whom should I vote?
The Huckster is the Republican version of Carter.
He would be a total disaster for the USA.
Yes, Aussie, you are absolutely right…remember when he said, during the 2008 campaign that we should pass the so-called Dream Act “…for the children”? Thinking like that is what gave us Iran–and hostages imprisoned for 444 days–in 1979-80.
Paul supporters are very good at having their voices heard at these conventions, etc. From having witnessed the group at Texas State Republican conventions, their goal is to be loud & disruptive challenging everything that happens.
All bark no bite!
Ron Paul is the Republican parties crazy uncle. Moderately interesting and harmless. The Republican party is a collection of individuals who sometimes do not get along with each other real well. Contrast this to the Democrat party.
For your viewing pleasure this AM here are some words from the KGB that explain much of what you see today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHgYPDvQFU8&NR=1 This explains Obama.
Forgive me if this has already been posted but on a sad note, Luicianne Goldberg’s son, Joshua past away a few days ago from an accidental fall (that is all I know). I have been out of town for 6 days without my laptop so I may be way behind the curve on this. You can go to Lucianne.com to express your condolences. RIP Joshua.
PaulObots, the very hardcore ones, the ones that booed Dick Cheney, I can gurantee you they voted for Obama.
I know one such person, or at least I did.
I don’t even know why the heck they come to CPAC.
I like Ron Paul, mainly I like this economic policies, but that’s it really. He is very good about this policies about the Fed Reserve, fiscal policies, no bailout of states, etc.
But the man is nuts when it comes to defense policies.
and his most ardent supporters I put in the same category as Obots, completely fringe nutjobs.
the real question is why do real conservatives go at all? Read Pam Geller at ATLASSHRUGS today:
http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2011/02/pamela-geller-versus-cpac.html
CPAC is an astroturfed shindig run by non-conservative, stealthy shills.
It should be exposed for the fraud that it is and an alternative developed that will starve CPAC of attendance, and provide an authentic experience.
Exactly, CPAC is meaningless to
conservatives.
Winning the poll is the
Kiss of Death.

Please vote only once, do not
vote like a Democrat
That is funny Patti. I have a picture in my mind of the old Fibber Magee and Molly radio show. (I know–that dates me.) Ron Paul looks exactly like the mortician Rig R. Mortis.
Shirley Sherrod suing Andrew Breitbart days after his his Pigford press conference!
http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/02/breaking-pigford-madam-shirley-sherrod-sues-andrew-breitbart/
Could be a Democratic Party ploy.
I’m still watching Egypt. As expected, the hard-core communist Utopian Left are the only ones left standing…refusing to stop protesting. Given that the left hates the military don’t expect them to shut up. But, I think the majority of Egyptians love their military and will grow tired of the communists and their meddling.
Meanwhile…I hope people keep digging about George Soros. I have no doubt this man can be traced to these riots popping up worldwide. If Republicans are smart they will go after him.
Serbia
Romania
Georgia
Albania
and now
Tunisia
Egypt
Jordan
Algiers (maybe, maybe not)
One article that I read pointed out that Soros likes to bring down governments so that he can create his own brand of democracy.
The end goal for going after both Egypt and Jordan is the creation of a new entity called Palestine (the one he wants to create).
He has already set up a new fund naming it the Palestine …. (bank, but cannot remember) or something along those lines and it seems that his end goal is to remove Israel.
That is not surprising because he hates Jews and he hates Israel above anything else. What can you expect from this Nazi Capo?
Well good luck to him now that Israeli Intelligence is on to him…That guy needs to be thrown in jail. I need to see some GOP people talking about that. He can’t be allowed to interfere in world affairs like this.
They are?
I have often wondered why Isreal has tolerated this fraud Greek who is actual a Jew who hates other Jews. He should be public enemy one in Isreal’s eyes.
He’s actually Hungarian. His dad was part of the Esperanto language movement and changed the last name from Schwartz to Soros, meaning “one who soars”.
He hates Jews and he is a Jew. His family name was Schwartz, his father changed their ame to Soros because of the Nazi threat. Soros began his his career as a sleezy opportunist by leading the Nazi’s to home’s of wealthy Jews who were in concentration camps. He helped loot their homes’ (redistribution of wealth) for the benefit of the Nazi’s/ He is prud of these facts as he expressed in his 1998 interview on 60 minutes with Steve Kroft. He has no remorse but said those times were the most exciting times of his life.
PASS THIS ON
This program, Union Refund, has been set up in order to enforce the 1988 Supreme Court decision that union members have the right to request the refund of dues that went to politics. This is fantastic news.
http://www.unionrefund.org/choose.asp?st=CA
When I was forced to be in a union….I filed every year for my rebates….It was a pain in the ass…and cost me more to send the registered letters and jump thru hoops with such a limited time frame….BUT…I got my point across to the local, state, and national union leaders….
What Kind of Fruit Tree is Obama?
The Bible says that you will know a tree by the kind of fruit it bears, meaning that you will know what someone believes by what they do. Considering the ‘revolution’ in Egypt, I would like to quickly examine three examples of foreign policy maneuvers that Obama has taken, including Egypt.
http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2011/02/12/what-kind-of-fruit-tree-is-obama/
what is the most poisonous fruit?
For my body there are some choices: tomatoes, passionfruit (both make me vomit)
The crabapple how ever is the prime example of a poisonous fruit.
I think that Øbama is a crabapple…. or maybe a prickly pear which is a pest species.
How about a durian? It stinks so badly it is illegal in Singapore. It is a native of Indonesia, which may explain our problems with it.
The durian is distinctive for its large size, unique odour, and formidable thorn-covered husk.
Hmmm…sounds like Obama to me. He takes up way too much room in our lives, I think his policies stink, and he’s got a hard, unapproachable shell (with a thin skin…very odd combination).
The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Some people regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust, and has been described variously as almonds, rotten onions, turpentine and gym socks. The odour has led to the fruit’s banishment from certain hotels and public transportation in southeast Asia.
I think there are parallels in that description between the durian and the 2008 campaign.
thanks!!!
I had heard of the Durian tree but I did not anything about it, or its fruit.
Yes it is a good description and it fits perfectly… especially about the stink it emits.
Did you read the latest from Ulsterman? There is a bombshell waiting to explode.
Aussie, do you have a link?
The link was posted on the previous open thread.
here is the link again:
http://newsflavor.com/politics/us-politics/the-ulsterman-report-sex-and-murder-in-the-land-of-obama/
I have never encountered durian myself, but I remember an episode on the Travel Channel where Anthony Bourdain said that eating it was like french kissing your dead grandmother.
Eeewwwwww!
You can eat durian in Penang, Malaysia, but you have to go out into the countryside to do it. I thought I’d rather go to the butterfly farm. I think it was a good choice.
Young America Foundation just threw him off their board…
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=41748
Good riddance!
If only his Congressional district would do the same…
yes, they heard his CPAC speech and realized that some of his positions are left wing and they made the decision to throw him off the board after 20 years.
Ron Paul ‘sounds’ great up to a certain point and then he gets screwy – for example, Open Borders and a little 9/11 Bush conspiracy thrown in. During one of the pres. primary debates, he started spouting off right there and I thought at the time, there goes his career. But there are always a few who buy into it.
After all,
A stopped clock is right twice a day!
Ron Paul does not advocate for open borders…actually, exactly the opposite. And he’s not a conspiracy theorist…actually, the opposite. If you want to discover Ron Paul’s actual positions, read the Constitution, the 9-11 Report, and his books, “Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom,” “End the Fed,” “A Foreign Policy of Freedom: Peace, Commerce, and Honest Friendship,” “Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse,” and “Gold, Peace, and Prosperity.”
He’s a Constitutionalist, non-interventionist and monetary policy expert who supports the rule of law.
Ron Paul’s grassroots supporters (like me) helped him raise more in one day during the campaign ($25 million, if I remember correctly) than in any political campaign before or since. Hell, Ron Paul supporters invented the Money Bomb, grassroots social media campaigning, and the Tea Party movement.
Ron Paul is most hated by (and presents the biggest threat to) two camps: socialist Obamabots and Cocktail Party GOP blazer-wearers. The kinds of things you say, Sue, are typically retread circa-2008 insults circulated by the Romney campaign.
If you are a conservative or Libertarian, you’ll find very few policy issues on which you can really disagree with him.
Breitbart is being sued over the Pigford scandal. He was served papers while at CPAC.
http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/02/12/andrew-breitbart-on-pigford-lawsuit-bring-it-on/
Oh my, stock up on popcorn!
Shirley Sherrod waited all this time before slapping on the lawsuit. hmmmm… interesting….
Breitbart did not get her fired!!!
Breitbart must be getting very close to the truth on the Pigford case.
I agree with Andrew Breitbart, that Eddie Slaughter and the original claimants to the case deserve justice. This is why I believe that the fraud must be exposed so that the real farmers get justice.
Oh YAY! That will give it great exposure =)
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking! The more exposure this thing gets, the better.
Discovery!
Bring on the depositions!
When I heard this, I thought that she’s lost her mind. Because Breitbart being who he is, he’s going to pull something out of arsenal chest that will blow up right in her face.
the discovery will find her backers… people like John Lewis and the other pollies who are involved right up to their necks.
If it goes to court, then Breitbart will have the opportunity to expose the whole Pigford case… including exposing how the Sherrods were awarded something like $10 million.
In fact the case will expose the Sherrods and the way that they ran the co-op which allowed them to get that $10 million.
Either she is very stupid (which is probably true) or extremely naive to have decided to go ahead with a lawsuit that is only going to backfire on her… big time…
Sherrod is involved in the fraudulent aspects of Pigford… she is going to end up with egg all over her face.
The best part of the story is that Lee Stranahan who has been a Huffington Post blogger, and who is a Progressive left wing type, has been doing the research on the subject. Lee Stranahan has been piecing it all together… I love that he is a Progressive
Please catch Lee’s post about deception at Media Matters. http://bigjournalism.com/lstranahan/2011/02/11/media-matters-dishonest-misrepresentation-of-pigford-presser/
As for Andrew, he is frothing about the discovery portion of the lawsuit. I normally listen to him on StageRight on Sundays, and I am sure this will/would be a topic. But, just coming in from CPAC, not sure he will be on tonight.
Sherrod is part of the institutional left. They always get away with this crap. Why would it be any different this time?
they only get away with some of the crap.
Sherrod has made a very big mistake.
Someone egged her on to sue Breitbart. She went quiet for months and then suddenly she pops up again.
She got $10 million over the Pigford case so why should she need more money.
Her case is very thin because Breitbart did not fire her… the orders came from the White House.
If White House had not interfered and demanded that she be forced to leave then everyone would have just forgotten about the woman.
The purpose of the tape was the hypocrisy of the NACP and not about Sherrod at all. She was incidental to the whole thing.
Sherrod opened her mouth and she talked about her own racism, but the interesting part was the reaction of the audience.
My guess is that this is being done to intimidate House Republicans to not investigate Pigford. Oooo, noooo, we don’t want to be sued!!!
I love this. I think this could be the move that will blow the doors off of Pigford.
Ron Paul is not very charismatic and he has some loopy ideas. We need a Bam! Pow! combination like Palin/West 2012.
Here it is..
Muslim Brotherhood’s Five-Year Plan
The Muslim Brotherhood has announced that it will not run a presidential candidate and will not seek a parliamentary majority in the coming elections. This announcement is being hailed as a sign of moderation, but it is no such thing.

It appears the woman you idolize is even beginning to see the light …
Sarah Palin goes Ron Paul? “Palin is the second prominent Republican to call for cuts to foreign aid in recent months. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) called for wide-ranging cuts in foreign aid, including aid to Israel — a controversial demand even within his own cut-friendly party. Read more …

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/right-turn/2011/02/morning_bits_61.html
you are misrepresenting Palin I think.
Cutting foreign aid, or certain aspects is not the same as the Ron Paul proposals which is isolationism.
It is not the same thing. The USA should not be funding abortions abroard…. snip.. there goes one lot of funding….
The USA does not need to give funds to dictators in Africa… snip… there goes some more funding….
The USA does not need to fund drilling in Brazil that assists George Soros… snip, snip… more funds that have been cut.
Note: this has not even touched on the defence budget!!
In my comments I have posted many links from hillbuzz over at the dailypaul, because I thought hillbuzz was an interesting creation and phenomenon. I am highly disappointed and deeply saddened to read your derogatory comments.
I am a former lifelong democrat who became a Ron Paul supporter back in the summer of 2007 … when Obama, Hillary and Edwards came on stage and in unison agreed we would maintain a presence in Iraq 5 more years. I could not believe my ears. My party argued against the war and George Bush and the Republicans, yet we were going to carry on the same OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive and destructive foreign policy … spending a trillion a year to maintain our empire, with 700 bases in 132 countries.

I looked elsewhere and discovered the ever consistent Congressman Ron Paul and never looked back. After 3 and a half years, I still strongly support him as he has bravely defended the Constitution during his decades of service.

I definitely agree with him on things such as sound currency (ie gold standard) and dealing with “The Fed”, but he doesn’t know how to make such ideas click with the rest of the general public.
Too many of his supporters are paranoid kooks who subscribe to 9/11 truth, human microchipping, Z.O.G., poison vaccines and other Alex Jones tall tales. Rand is better at getting the support of reasonably minded voters.
please!! the gold standard will not be returning… get over it
Maybe not tomorrow, but it’s still a good idea to back money with some sort of tangible precious metal. Paper and aluminum will only get you so far.
Even if it’s not gold, there still ought to be some precious metal, such as silver, for backing our currency. Paper and aluminum can only get you so far.
There is a pretty interesting story on the Ulsterman Report concerning Obama and his connection with Donald Young 10 years ago.
Libertarianism is the ideology that will truly result in smaller, less intrusive government.
Conservatism still likes to meddle in peoples’ private affairs and seems to pay lip service to the idea of smaller government (Thinking of the useless, bloated Orwellian Dept. of Homeland Security that we will probably never be rid of in my lifetime here).
So, I’m not surprised to see support of libertarian candidates increasing.
Also, Ron Paul is not loopy or radical. He is utterly rational and can argue all of his positions quite competently. Ad hominem attacks against him are pretty lame.
And before anyone totally freaks out at the above, I still prefer Palin to be the GOP nominee in 2012.
The problem is not Paul himself, but the people he directs his message towards. Let’s use monetary policy as an example. You can do it one of two ways:
1. Argue for why the Federal Reserve is controversial, devaluation is wrong and having gold/silver backed currency is a must to a general audience using basic language and relatable life situations.
or
2. Attend mostly John Birch society and Infowars type meetups and say the same things as the former example to a group of individuals who think Bernanke is part of some “Zionist plot” to destroy America.
You can either represent the guy who says “I’m concerned about the direction in which this country is headed and I want solutions” or “The NWO is planning to blow up the Earth”. Ron Paul unfortunately spends more time talking to the latter. That is his problem. Otherwise he has reasonable ideas.
Like!
And the reason a lot of libertarians turn out at CPAC is because they know that, as a third party, they are not viable (and I say this as a registered Libertarian). Any sane libertarian-minded individual knows that it is only through influencing the conservative party that their ideals will make it to the national stage… and I think that many of their values work well together, especially the ones that are important right now (fiscal policy).
I think you need to have another look at Ron Paul.. he is quite loopy.
Yep…he doesn’t want a military. That’s loopy in my book.
it is more than loopy… it is downright dangerous.
I like Ron Paul as a Congressman, but I don’t think he would do well as an executive even if it were possible for him to win the election.
True, he can be rather out there on some issues, but considering that I live in Kucinich’s district I’d take Ron any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I just saw True Grit.
It’s really good, although I didn’t walk out of it thinking “OMG, that was amazing, I have to see it again, they don’t make ‘em like this enough”, like I did with “The King’s Speech”.
This actually felt like a let down, mainly because the reviews of True Grit are so OTT that anything less than the second coming will be a disappointment.
It’s also the first film since “The Bourne Identity”, where I didn’t want to slap Matt Damon.

Ron Paul’s a racist nutbag. Trump is right. The only purpose he’ll serve is to skew the results, just like Nader. We’re doomed if he runs. College kids are cultist Paulbots.
Why do you say Ron Paul is a racist? What proof do you have he’s a racist? What has he done or said that makes you believe he is racist?
Ron Paul is a racist because he believes other nations cannot be evil, since those which hate the United States only do so because of what the United States does to them.
Al-though I did not ask you, I appreciate your answer.Convoluted as it is, and your answer does not offer conclusive evidence of him being a racist. Some have called him a nativist, but that does not mean he is a racist.
FYI, I did not vote for Paul, nor do I want him to be POTUS, BUT without positive proof the name calling MUST be stopped.
Some nut in Maryland is attacking same sex marriage. But he’s being novel about it:
“In a case of life imitating “Futurama,” Maryland’s gay-marriage debate has somehow morphed into worries about robot-human marriages.
“The rant against robosexuals came during Robert Broadus’ testimony against the gay-marriage legislation currently before Maryland legislature.
“”If you pass this bill, you will set the groundwork, that one day when artificial intelligence is that advanced, we will be considering whether or not people can marry their androids. …
“If you say that any two people who love each other can get married, then you set that precedent,” said Broadus, who heads Protect Marriage Maryland.”

Teh Stooopid…it burns…
Yeah, but what if it’s an OPPOSITE-SEX android? Totally ok, right?
It’s those same-sex android unions we need to be worrying about…
What do the folks at Hillbuzz think about Ann Coulter’s commentaray at CPAC on liberals using the gays to destroy the family as their ultimate goal?

White House Insider: Michelle Obama is Flat Out Lying

I’m at my county’s Republican caucus meeting. Sarah Pailin won the straw poll, followed by Bobby Jindal. I’m in Wisconsin.
Isn’t Wisconsin the place where the Communist Party USA was founded. I hear they have a repub governor now though.

I am upfront in admitting that I do not like or trust Ron Paul. He will never be POTUS.
At the same time, I have seen a little bit of Gary Johnson, if you want boring then Gary Johnson is your man.
Gary Johnson is probably less of a hypocrite than Ron Paul. He even uses economic advisors to ensure that he gets the economics right. To my way of thinking this is a real plus for Gary Johnson. Also, Johnson is a former Governor who cleaned up his stated after the Democrats left it in a mess. It is another plus…
However, Gary Johnson, to be a viable POTUS candidate needs to abandon isolationism with regard to foreign policy.
There are many areas where foreign aid can be cut. For example cutting out the aid the WH has been giving to Hamas would be a starting point, and to this I would add all aid that funds abortions etc. The USA should not be involved in that kind of thing in another country.
I think that something like the military aid to Egypt needs to be questioned, and I would look further at what goes to Pakistan – and withdraw that aid due to their intransigence.
Foreign aid is needed for things like helping earthquake and flood victims rebuild their lives, or at least helping with the clean-up.
The USA needs to get out of the habit of interfering in the politics of other nations. There should be no aid going to the African dictatorships. There should be no aid to Brazil for oil exploration.
So yes plenty of places where foreign aid can be cut.
I was reading the story about Mitch Daniels busted (or actually it was his room-mate) for pot in his college days and one of the comments in the comment section made me dawn on something. We’re going in the same cycle it seems as the 70s…like a Jimmy Carter re-run with the hippies and LSD heads. Perhaps now we will go thru the Reagan year re-runs…with the Just Say No crowd taking control.
I’m afraid the looters used the so called ‘Egyptian Revolution’ to break into the museum and help themselves:
http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/938067–king-tut-statues-16-other-items-missing-from-egyptian-museum
This is awful. I love art and especially Egyptian art and hearing about this breaks my heart.
first the tolerant left destroys our beloved Mall with their peaceful protests and celebration then Egypt – maybe we should call them the Looting Left – remember the looting of News Orleans during Katrina and LA during the Rodney King – is there a pattern here
Wonder if Soros just added a few Egyptian arifacts to his collection. One thing is for sure–someone knew exactly what they were stealing and had ample time to do it. Somewhere some Bast*rd is gloating over his newly aquired priceless statue.
I bet your right. I wonder if the Nazis gave him any valuable art that he helped them loot from the homes of wealthy Jews who were in concentration camps. I think he considers it redistribution or wealth.
Here’s an update to Ulsterman’s report, along with youtube videos of the young Obama.

thanks for that and Wow – “Reverand Wright is the best of what the Black church has offer”

Why do I always get the feeling that Obambi just says stuff to impress himself as much as the people he is speaking to? I honestly don’t feel he is engaged intellectually–more like from afar and in awe of how awesome he is and sounds.
Does his face show any sign of engagement in this video. He’s just spouting rhetoric…
Absolutely no engagement whatsoever. Flat and unemotional. Words…just words.
that Ulsterman story fits in with the story of Larry Sinclair.
There is a finger pointing directly at Øbama over the murder of Donald Young who is the man identified by this witness.
Maybe Øbama did not pull the trigger, but I am wondering if he paid someone to do it.. did Young attempt to blackmail the POTUS? Is that why he was killed?
Gosh darn! My thoughts exactly! Maybe that’s why the “Insider” said all roads to Obama’s undoing point to Chicago.
Wow, I am way behind on this story. Jaw dropping.

Someone else sees the connection to Billy Flynn the lawyer in the movie Chicago:

This is a very good essay.
For what it is worth. . .maybe another side to the story. . .of the straw poll results.
Although I could not go to CPAC this year, I observed the anomalies of the past years’ straw polling activities – the 2011 voting appears to be no different.
-The polling activity was out of the way
of the main center of activity –
on different floor!
–an hike on foot especially for those
who give an excuse about the distance!!
-Ballots are not handed out to attendees
— you have to walk to the polling
center(unless this changed this year)
-Only a fraction of attendees — vote.
(compare the result vs the # conference
attendees.) Shameful for a political
conference.
-The Ron Paulistas are very active
in getting votes and their own votes
for Cong Paul. I have
not seen such zest for another
candidates. (maybe other Conservatives
should learn a lesson! or see this as
their latest wake-up call – what
sitting out an election — brings! )

Just saw a report on Free Republic that a German newspaper is reporting Mubarak in a German hospital in a life or death coma???
Some Sunday afternoon levity. I somehow missed this last year after the ObamaCare vote, but, this is hilarious.

Anita MonCrief

Anita MonCrief should be the republican key note speaker at that 2012 republican convention.
If Buzzers didn’t already hold Ashton Kutcher in low regard, this’ll should do it. Apparently Mama Demi hasn’t taught the ignorant boy she married a thing, primarily manners, i.e., it’s impolite to read over anybody’s shoulder … especially the former president’s. What a hapless, ill-bred ignoramus.
http://dailycaller.com/2011/02/13/ashton-kutcher-claims-george-w-bush-snubbed-him-at-super-bowl/
I remember watching Punk’d and Kutcher said somthing to the effect of we got Punk’d in November of 2004. What a nasty little sh*t.
who the hell is ashton kutcher?
He was on That 70′s show and The Butterfly Effect.
Bush didn’t know (or care) who the punk sitting behind him was.
For that matter, few people do.
It made me laugh. I love it that Ashton makes himself important enough that a man with the character of George Bush would intentionally snub him…..if he knew who he was.
And there goes that gigantic Hollywood ego again that talks out of the side of their faces.
keep an eye on this story:

Anyone see Ann Coulter at CPAC. She was funny as always, but she started out saying, she went out to a “kid bar” with the Red Eye guys the night before, that’s why her voice was sore. She looked hung over and un-madeup. just noticin’
Just letting you know that I had to make the decision to put down my cat. It hurts a lot.
Oh, Aussie, my prayers are with you and your cat. I understand. I am so sorry.
I’m so sorry.
Aussie – When you have to make that decision, you do it out of love for the pet. I had to do this in October. It hurts, yes it does. But it will get better eventually.
I’m sorry.
It was in her best interests.
I do not know what happened. On Saturday when she turned up I could see that she had a wound or something on her leg. However, she took off and I did not see her again until this morning.
There was a large wound. Anyway, the wound was infested with maggots.
The vet could have helped her and with antibiotics it would have been cleared up. However, she is kept outside and that means that the flies would still cause a very big problem and the maggot infestation could have started all over again.
I based my decision upon the fact that I would not have been able to keep her indoors, and I could not guarantee that the flies would not cause the maggots to start eating her flesh again.
It was a decision I did not want to make. I loved Skittles, but she is not a clean cat. She had a dirty bum and she did not lick herself properly. I could not allow her to end up being constantly infested with the maggots. It would not have been fair to her.
Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who managed to get through school and earn her doctorate, has made her career designing humane cattle processing facilities and is very concerned about treating the animals we use for food with respect.
In her book (and in the movie about her that is very much worth a watch) she said, that nature is cruel. It is. We humans can make what would have been misery and torment for our critters, swift and painless. It hurts us, but it is the human and humane thing to do.
G’day,
I just can’t believe anyone can think Ron Paul is a serious candidate for 2012. He was born in 1935. If he became President he would be turning 80 in his first term. Does anyone really want a 80 something leading the worlds great superpower?
observation: The LSMs No Palin February has been extended to Allen West. The Washington Post’s breakdown of the event highlights the usuals suspects (their faves to pick for us) but absolutely no mention of the key note speech that brought the house down. This is puzzling (sarc) since they usually see everything thru the raced prism.
Town Hall.com: Let’s hear it for the Pauls
Rep. Raul Labrador, a newcomer to Washington, reminded the crowds at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) of the current context: “We weren’t elected because the American people love Republicans. We were elected because the American people love Republican principles.”
Not to throw cold water on a sentiment whose intent I can only applaud, still, it’s hard not to offer a challenge: What principles? Craven accommodation to the military-industrial complex? Empty “limited government” windbaggery? Inertia?
…
But there exist two Republican politicians who do embody the common sense of restraint, and are willing to actually challenge the mad, out-of-control establishment. They seem like radicals because what is “middle of the road” is so crazy. But their advocacy of responsibility and limited government now appears, in light of the crazy age, as a last outpost of sanity.
Their names are Dr. Ron Paul and Dr. Rand Paul.

Many thanks for taking the time to describe the terminlogy towards the rookies!
Cpac means absolutely nothing … They all wait in anticipation of Palin’s next move. She is a sly fox, that one…
