Sometimes the universe brings you the wrong French toast

Posted on April 17, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

We are officially now the Susan Lucci of snarky political commentators.

For the last four days, FOX had us scheduled to do a segment with Neil Cavuto on the Chicago Tea Party and how moderate Democrats like us feel about the reckless, illiterate, woefully out of touch Pelosi/Reid Funhouse of Horrors that is the United States Congress at the moment.

But, we got bumped all four days in favor of various people who witnessed the CNN reporter’s complete and total meltdown and berating of the Tea Party crowd here in Chicago.  It was disappointing and frustrating, as it would have been fun to take HillBuzz on the air for that segment (HillBuzz Coast to Coast!), but it was not meant to be.

But, sometimes the universe brings you the wrong French toast…so maybe it’s destined a spot in the big leagues like that is meant to wait until after we can get our new and improved revamped site up and running in June (hopefully, if we can pull everything we want together by then).

But, the little community that’s formed here at HillBuzz is something we treasure immensely — and were looking forward to the chance on FOX to reach out to all of you in a new, unique, and more immediate way.  Maybe some day, as our video editing and other skills can improve, we could even do a little HillBuzz YouTube show of our own — and hopefully we wouldn’t get bumped off that like we were off FOX.

There’s no hard feelings, though, because we have to tell you that FOX treated us very, very well.  They are incredibly professional and considerate:  it’s just that the CNN reporter going nuts became the focal point of the Tea Party stories coming out of Chicago, and that eclipsed the opportunity for us to snark on Pelosi, Jan Schakowsky, and the other dangerous, wet Muppets we regrettably have in Congress.

But, like anything else in life, this was not the French toast we ordered in the way we expected it, but we’re confident some other opportunity will arrive in the future that will be even better than the four near-misses this week.

Fabulous! DO let us know ahead of time if possible the next time you’re scheduled!

HB: You guys are better men than I am, er, so to speak. True gents.

‘Buzzers: what do ya think if we who gather here each dropped a nice, courteous e-note to Neil and asked him to reschedule the HB men?

    OK by you, HillBuzz?

      Garlic,

We appreciate the sentiment, but we just want people to be respectful and not bother them….because we want to say again how nice FOX was to us. It was just that the CNN story dominated, and it was no one’s fault. They were really, really, really sorry they kept bumping us.

But, for future reference, maybe it would be a good thing if people told FOX they’d like to see us on various programs bringing the snark to the airwaves. That’s something we never considered before, but might be interesting. We just don’t want anyone to give FOX a hard time, because really, we totally understand what happened this week was no one’s fault but that ridiculous reporter at CNN who acted so poorly at the Tea Party.

      • garlicnosedho says:
        2009/04/17 at 10:07 pm

I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear, but what you’re suggesting is EXACTLY what I meant…merely that we mention who we are and how we gather here and that we think it would be instructive, enlightening, and entertaining for the public to hear from you.

I personally would NEVER take production people to task for something they couldn’t help. (Now the a’hole on KNPR who promised me I’d be treated in a certain manner and then berated me is a whole other story, but as usual, I digress and diverge.)

I’ll get on it first thing in the morning, when my mind is clear and fresh.

I’d be happy to contact Fox News, not to complain, but to happily recommend that they get you guys on the air. You are succeeding in doing what BO promised he would do, but hasn’t even tried to do for one second since taking the oath – bring people together for the good of OUR country.

In other words she continued to rain on the party even after the party was over.

Make sure Fox has your contact info and let them know you are available to comment on similar topics. You never know…

Greta was talking about the disgusting language that has been used to malign the people who attended the tea parties.

I posted on her site to thank her for being the only female commentator on cable news to address this, and to treat Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton fairly.

The interesting thing, I have no idea where she stands on political issues. How did it get to the point that she is the only woman on cable news challenging the degrading language that seems to be so acceptable in many sectors of the media?

I did a search one time on Greta and she is married to a prominent DC lawyer…John Coale
he donates heavely to the Democratic party. Coale was a strong Hillary supporter and then supported McCain/Palin. I think they both stand strong for womens rights and hate the way Sarah has been treated by the MSM.

    • EricP says:
      2009/04/18 at 4:12 am

I think Greta is very fair minded. She’s one of the rare commentators on any news channel who can present the alternate view without appearing partisan.

Regardless of whether she’s liberal or conservative, the one thing I can definitely say about Greta is that she’s reasonable, and that’s never a bad thing.

I know you’ve been wanting to learn more about computers/video ect. I know the schools in Chicago are alot different than NJ, but do they offer adult classes at with the high school or community college even for non-credit?
The good thing about this French toast is now the Fox people know you, so probably will think about calling you.

ps did you see the nice Chummy pics of Obama and he good frined Chavez? the look they gave each other was kind of weird, like they were sharing some big secret, didn’t give ME the warm fuzzies.

  • Illinidiva says:
    2009/04/17 at 10:40 pm

Hey… Hilbuzz. C’est La Vie I guess. :( It would be fun to see the best snarky moderate Democrats from Boystown on Foxnews, but I guess commenting on a crazy bimbo reporter who apparently has a personal vendetta against Foxnews because of bad job interviews is more important.

BTW, the Chicago Tea Party at Navy Pier was extra cool. Are y’all going to do that again during the July 4th Tea Parties as well?? I’m sure that you will check lots more tourist traffic if you do.

    • hillbuzz says:
      2009/04/17 at 10:52 pm

We might just do that again.

Before that, we’re going to do a Special Olympics fundraiser as a “Sarah Sent Us” type thing in May. Both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin inspire us to stand up for people the current Administration demeans and mocks. So, in the future we will let people know where we will be.

We really have to say how cool it was to meet some of you on Tax Day at the two Tea Parties. We’re still trying to process that, actually, because we were so humbled and flattered by people who actually came out just to meet us and tell us they like our writing. If we live to be 100, honestly, from the bottom of our hearts, we will never, ever forget how wonderful a compliment that is.

It was so great to get some hugs from readers out there. Because of all the vile things that were personally done to us during the campaign by Obama supporters, we’re still really gun shy with the deliberate anonymity thing, but realize the only way to get our message out to a wider audience is to allow that to be scaled back in various stages.

But, we always continue to appreciate and be so very grateful for all the love and support.

      • Lyn says:
        2009/04/17 at 11:12 pm

What kind of fundraiser are you thinking of doing? Anything people can do online?

        • hillbuzz says:
          2009/04/17 at 11:20 pm

          Lyn,

We’re working out the details, but it’s a Bowl-Off for the Special Olympics. We already have a commitment to have Special Olympians there too. By Monday, we’ll shore up the details and start promoting it…and will let you know about contributing to it online. Another thing you could do would be to just take the template for our event and find a way to organize one with your local Special Olympics chapter around the same time. We’d actually prefer that, since we’d get much more exposure for Special Olympics that way. If we could get these Bowl-Offs going coast to coast, and made sure Governor Palin knew she inspired this, we’d call it a win for the Good Guys.

Can you help us with that?

        • Lyn says:
          2009/04/17 at 11:37 pm

I can’t hold one, because I’m pretty involved with 2 other Charities (and try to get donations of things for another ones auction each year)and I think my family would kill me If I started a big project for another one.

BUT a thought, One of my friends who is a mother of a baby who died following heart surgery has a bowl a thon type thing every year, and they raise alot of their money by getting plegdes (per pin I think?) NOT all day bowling just a couple games, They get friends/family to sponsor them thru emails ect. She’s run them for about 7 years now so if you need any hints I could ask for what works (or more important what doesn’t)

          • hillbuzz says:
            2009/04/17 at 11:59 pm

            Lyn,

Can you please ask how they structured their pledge bowl-a-thon? If you can get the wording they used, how they set it up, etc. we would love to use that. How the new Administration mocked people with special needs still sickens us…and we swear to you for the rest of our lives we will make the special olympics one of our priorities, along with the USO that John McCain inspired us to support and the Reading and Healthcare efforts Hillary Clinton inspires us to work for. Hillary, Sarah, and McCain left their indelible marks on us — and we would love your help in figuring out how to make this Bowl-Off a smashing success.

Maybe we could work in some kind of challenge to beat Obama’s dismal 129 score….anything over 129 means bigger donations to Special Olympics or something. Help us work this out. Tomorrow, we’ll create a thread for this and ask for people’s input…and will spell out everything we did for the event so others can create on in their parts of the country too.

Thanks for your help — we appreciate it.

            Bowlathon ideas:
Instead of counting pins, and collecting money like they do for pledge walks, you can charge a certain amount per lane, like they do for golf outings. It would make collecting much easier.
Also, bowling alleys have red pins for outings that can be used as a special prize. Instead of a prize, anyone who does not bowl a stike when the red pin comes up as the head pin, has to put 5 bucks in a pot. If this person bowls a strike, everyone on the lane has to put 5 bucks in the pot. You can also have contests for highest and lowest scores, most spares, etc, with the winners and losers have to add to the kitty. The key is having really trusting people do the collecting. If these people have children with special needs, they would probably be the most trustworthy.
By organizing it this way, everything is much simpler, no signing those dumb pleges and then getting people to collect. This way, everything is paid for at the event. Families and friends and even bowling alleys can organize lots of different venues. Families who have special needs kids would love to organize their own fundraiser. You can also sell team Tshirts, signature drinks, etc that can contribute to the profits.
Can you tell, I have done this before? Once the creative juices start, I tend to get wound up. Organizing games is my forte so let me know how I can help.

We really should have thought of some way to coordinate meeting all the local readers. It would have been great to meet you at Navy Pier. For the Bowl-Off in May, we’ll have to think of some way of identifying people better. That would be a lot of fun.

You have everyone’s email. Just send out a blanket notification if this ever comes to pass.

If you ever want a physical meeting with Hillbuzzers, anything that would ID you couldn’t be publicized here (IMO). You don’t want trolls & dangerous Obots figuring out who you really are & where you live.

I know we have a lot of appreciation towards FOX for honestly and fairly reporting on the incredibly successful Tea Parties. However, there are some “jewels” out there who are getting lost in the mud of the media. Don’t forget about Lou Dobbs on CNN. He’s a good guy and an objective reporter. He fully supported the Tea Parties and every other principle we here, stand for.

Catch ONLY his program or send him emails of support. Rather than waste our energy on that which weakens us, let us spend our energy on that which lifts and strengthens us. It is the intention behind our actions that gives me great hope in our cause and I believe that God sees all when it comes to the actions of the far-Left.

    LOL
    Look what Chaves called Obama

CARACAS (Reuters) – Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez said on Sunday his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama was at best an “ignoramus” for saying the socialist leader exported terrorism and obstructed progress in Latin America.

“He goes and accuses me of exporting terrorism: the least I can say is that he’s a poor ignoramus; he should read and study a little to understand reality,” said Chavez, who heads a group of left-wing Latin American leaders opposed to the U.S. influence in the region.

Chavez said Obama’s comments had made him change his mind about sending a new ambassador to Washington, after he withdrew the previous envoy in a dispute last year with the Bush administration in which he also expelled the U.S. ambassador to Venezuela.

Iran talks are off the table too because they don’t want to deal with the staged event complete with teleprompter and worn out slogans..

      Now you’re wondering?

Obama’s win was fishy from the very first primary caucus to the end, when they were getting people to vote by giving them cigarettes….

Not to mention the aiding and abetting provided by the MSM.

But, even with ALL of that help, he still only won by 5 or 6 points…

This nonsense of how universally loved he is? Still the media playing games with us.
