Sarah Palin & LTC Allen West at Rolling Thunder

Posted on May 30, 2011 by Kathleen Gee // 2012 Elections, 2012 Presidential Campaign, Conservativism, Featured Content, Great Merciful Zeus, Hillbuzz, LTC Allen West, Tea Party, The American Reistance

By now you’ve probably guessed that I’m a libertarian, and I have a “policy crush” on Ron Paul. I love, love, love him. Unfortunately, he’s a better candidate on paper– in the many, many books he’s written on the economy, foreign policy and sound money–than he is in the age of TV and the 24-hour news cycle. He’s whip smart, and has enormous integrity. But slick, he is not.

So while Ron Paul will always be my first choice in terms of policy, when it comes to charisma and crowd appeal (and the ability to make Lefty heads explode), I’m a huge Sarah Palin fan. And an even bigger Allen West fan.

Here is a photo that literally gave me goosebumps. It’s from SarahPac.com, shared by a couple of Alert Readers.

Sarah Palin and LTC Allen West (R-Florida) at Rolling Thunder 2011 | Hillbuzz.org

The Next Two Presidents of the U.S.

I honestly think we’re looking at an unbeatable GOP ticket here. And though I don’t agree with Sarah Palin 100% on the issues, I would nonetheless sleep soundly at night during the Sarah Palin presidency, knowing that the person in the Oval Office truly and deeply loves America, always has, and always will.

What a thrilling image!

Can you imagine the contortions the Left and Lamestream Media (redundant) will have to go through to criticize this pair–the first woman presidential nominee and the first black vice-president nominee of a major party?

    Realistically, Allen West is awesome but has said some not too encouraging things about Palin. It'd be great but I don't see it happening. Plus Allen West hasn't indicated he's ready to run for office that big yet. I sure don't see what you see in Ron Paul. He's waaay far over the edge. He's an isolationist.
    Palin sure did herself some good yesterday. Those Rolling Thunder photos rock! Powerline had a great rundown of why it was so effective. Wow.

        Just one reader's take: Unless the commenter can cite some quotes where Lt. Col. West actually has "said some not too encouraging things" about Sarah Palin, and provide an unambiguously positive statement about Palin's participation in yesterday's Rolling Thunder event, I would tend to delete the comment based on evidence of being a CT. Besides the lack of substantiating evidence in the first paragraph, I tend to view the second paragraph as "damning by faint praise," i.e., "did HERSELF some good"?…"so EFFECTIVE"? This perniciously/subtly inserts the notion that Sarah participated in the event just to gain personal attention, which all steadfast HBers know is a false notion. Similarly, it inserts the notion that Sarah participated just to advance her political ambitions, which all steadfast HBers also know is a false notion. So, all in all, I would tend to view the comment as a CT (IMO, likely an "establishment GOP" candidate supporter).

          I went digging for the article somewhat unsuccessfully. The best I could do is the Free Republic link to The Hill article, but upon reading it again, I wonder if it was buzz by Politico, since all West said was he was underwhelmed by the Republican candidates, and Politico extended that to Palin, naturally.
          Here's the link:
          http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2722786/…
          Though I understand why you'd think that, I am NOT a concern troll; what's disturbing (ok, concerning) is the whole "Chris Christie" mentality toward Palin. In fact, this seems to be a common attitude among the establishment Republicans, such as Karl Rove and Charles Krauthammer.
          Even the guys at Powerline (being wingtip Republicans) have been sorta iffy about Palin until the posting today about her appearance at Rolling Thunder. While I do not think they are ready to embrace her as a presidential candidate, finally they're enjoying her presence on the scene. Why? Because she relates to everyday people, unlike the pompadoured Romney types.
          Which is exactly why so many hate her, I think.
          She isn't one of the ruling elite. She's one of us. A patriot.

            It's well-known here at HB to expect that the establishment GOP, the Obamacrats and their spox among the LSM and certain blogs (left and right) will be "iffy" or negative in their coverage of everything re Sarah Palin. It's called "Palin Derangement Syndrome" or PDS. HBers also know not to waste valuable time wringing hands or fretting over this. Sarah–who always has and always will deeply love and respect this country, its people and its founding principles–does things her own way, which is what HBers love about her, and which is what drives the establishment GOP, the Obamacrats and the LSM absolutely bonkers. HBers love seeing heads explode among those louts every time Sarah stands up and speaks out for our God-given freedom enshrined in our founding documents, and for freedom-loving Americans and allies. As a long-time HBer, I'm committed to doing all I can to help in the effort to give unrelenting headaches to anyone continuing to spread PDS, CTism or Eeyorism.

            This isn't the first time Powerline has commented favorably on Sarah, specifically John, who formerly did seem cool to her. He commented approvingly a couple of times on her pro-Israel stance.

        Man, that picture had me exclaim out loud! What a moment!

        From wildwood15′s reply, I’d say, good call on asking instead of just deleting. I, too, wanted the facts behind the statement, because it would be hard to imagine West saying that about Palin, and I agree with wildwood15′s later comment, it seems the article, not West, extended the characterization of “lukewarm” to Palin. West seemed to be speaking of announced candidates.

        There’s nothing “lukewarm” about the handshake and smiles, that I can see!

        wildwood15, and others, as I commented the other day here:

        Remember, kids:

        Be aware of concern trolls.

        Don’t become a concern troll.

        Don’t fall for concern trolls.

        i often wonder about this CT/Eeyore thing: do we want to be a bunch of yes-men? i thought we were exchanging ideas and having conversations. i do understand trolls, yes, and the eeyores, yes. but i think once in a while, we need to remind ourselves what the unfavorable stuff is so we can dissect and counter the "argument" in productive ways, and to keep track of the precise moment the establishment at least jumps on sarah's bandwagon so we can further the argument against it's-his-turn-generic-candidate who tries to further his own self along, with the help of the LSM.

        i even got to use some of the stuff i learned here today pertaining to weinergate! my mother doesn't believe it was him (and she has no love for that guy) and i told her: watch. watch what they do. (as it has been broken down and defined so accurately here). they haven't called a hearing like they should, the media hasn't gone by the facts of the case- no reporting on all the funniness about it; they've started attacking breitbart for reporting it and now they are diverting attn by focusing on palin "not being invited" to rolling thunder- which got my mom all distracted about "how could they do that? everyone knows damn well she was invited! and so what if she wasn't? who says she can't ride? if she wasn't………" for awhile till i said "see? this is what they do. you forgot all about that guy, didn't you? stop letting it happen!"

        i think this comment should stay- it shows the confusion the media is inciting that some of our favorites are saying about our other favorites, and it's useful in disseminating all that mixed messaging.

        plus, i think wildwood is a regular?

          @khemo5, anyone can have an Eeyorish day. But if you do, you’re not allowed to bring it here.

          What @wildwood said about Ron Paul is the standard Cocktail Party GOP insult that has been leveled against him since 2008. It’s factually wrong, and designed to stop low-information voters from considering him (exactly like “I can see Russia from my house!”)

          In order to take control of the vetting process ourselves, we need to make a factual examination of candidates, not rely on what the LSM, Cocktail Party GOP or Obama Regime tells us about them.

            To elaborate- I think it's the blanket, vague negative statements that can change the attitude of a post from having a discussion about different viewpoints, to just being an Eeyore. "I don't know what you see in this person" or "This person has no chance" is a far cry from "I disagree with this person on x, y, and z policy issues and here's why" or "I am worried that this person does not appeal to x, y, and z demographic/voting block and/or this person has had this claim made against them which has caused x, y, and z people to question them."

            The first examples leave no room for discussion because they are too vague- there's nothing left to discuss! The second examples are specific and therefore can be discussed (refuted, elaborated on, reaffirmed, brainstormed, etc.) So I think the point is not to always agree, but to remember that how you say something is as important as what you are saying. If you are looking for a discussion or to present an opposing viewpoint, do so in a way that promotes discussion, not shuts it down!

        I do like the idea of pointing out potential concern-troll-ness the way that Kathleen has done it. It is a friendly, matter-of-fact way that gives us an option of responding to the original poster, enabling a few different outcomes:
        a) the original poster IS a concern troll intentionally, and shuts up
        b) the original poster doesn't realize they are acting like a concern troll, and continues the discussion in a different direction
        c) the other commenters and the original poster can have a discussion about the issues that is educational for everyone

    Notice Col. West has a firm grasp of Sarah's hand and is pulling her closer, into him . Not the typical everyday type of hey how are ya ?
    Another observation, could be wrong, not sure, but didn't see the large wooden cross, when she arrived at the rally. Probably, given to her by someone in the crowd.

    Have any of you been following Weiner-gate? Andrea Mitchell had to essentially fabricate a smear on Palin. However, crickets are chirping related to the news that impacts a New York Democrat congressman. Can you even begin to imagine the type of elite media coverage on the Palins if either Sarah or Todd have tweeted a scandalous picture to a young, attractive co-ed? Katie Couric may even have come out of retirement for that one!

    MY opinion….

    Yes…this is the first time Sarah and Congressman West have met in person. But I believe that Sarah Palin through the assistance of Donald Trump has already asked Congressman West to be her running mate when Trump spoke in public with West at that Tax Day Tea Party Rally in Florida.

    Congressman West has EMPHATICALLY stated that he WILL NOT run for POTUS but he WOULD accept a VP slot. Why wouldn't he run for POTUS??? Because he has already accepted the nod from Sarah Palin.

    This woman is going to go down in American history as THE greatest political mind EVER! She is bloody BRILLIANT!!

I think Congressman West would be a great VP, and Sarah a fantastic President. Actually, I'd rather see a Cain-West or West-Cain ticket… and put Sarah as head of the Department of the Interior. This would completely obliterate the lefts death grip on the race card, and put Sarah in a position to explode the collective heads of Greenpeace and the Sierra Club.

    (Wanna see the "head exploding" scene from scanners without any special effects??? Just keep a camera trained on Robert Redford.)

    Other head exploding moves… Put Chris Christie as head of the Department of Education. After Chris Christie is done cleaning up and dismantling the Department of Education (for him it would probably take a couple of months), move him over to Attorney General. It's gonna take years to clean up Holder's mess.

    Arizona's Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu as head of Homeland Security.

    I'd also like to see a law in place that restrains anyone who has ever received a paycheck from a Wall Street firm from getting anywhere near the Treasury Department.

    All I will say is this:

    If either one of those folks in the picture shaking hands were in charge of our country, I’d rest better at night.

    Why?

    Because they love America.

    Unlike the current Con Artist in the White House.

    Palin/West 2012…Oh yeah! My dream ticket and one that I think the vast majority of Americans will support. The MSM is panicked…they don't know what to do with Sarah! They're all mad because she doesn't hop through their hoops….poor babies! I think it's hilarious that they have to follow her bus around because she won't give them a schedule! And they claim she's stupid? Brilliant she is! Brilliant! Where do I sign up to help her win?

    This is one of the videos I posted for yesterday; wouldn't it be GREAT, if Sarah were to use it as a personal anthem, on her tour? ;-)

    America to Me {with additional lyrics}

    What is America to me?
    A name, a map, or a flag I see;
    A certain word, democracy.
    What is America to me?

    The house I live in,
    A plot of earth, a street,
    The grocer and the butcher,
    Or the people that I meet;
    The children in the playground,
    The faces that I see,
    All races and religions,
    That's America to me.

    The place I work in,
    The worker by my side,
    The little town or city
    Where my people lived and died.
    The howdy and the handshake,
    The air and feeling free,
    And the right to speak my mind out,
    That's America to me.

    The things I see about me,
    The big things and the small,
    The little corner newsstand,
    And the house a mile tall;
    The wedding and the churchyard,
    The laughter and the tears,
    And the dream that's been a growing
    For a hundred-fifty years.

    The town I live in,
    The street, the house, the room,
    The pavement of the city,
    And the garden all in bloom;
    The church, the school, the clubhouse,
    The million lights I see,
    But especially the people;
    That's America to me.

    The house I live in,
    My neighbors white and black,
    The people who just came here,
    Or from generations back;
    The town hall and the soapbox,
    The torch of liberty,
    A home for all God's children;
    That's America to me.

    The words of old Abe Lincoln,
    Of Jefferson and Paine,
    Of Washington and Jackson
    And the tasks that still remain;
    The little bridge at Concord,
    Where Freedom's fight began,
    Our Gettysburg and Midway
    And the story of Bataan.

    The house I live in,
    The goodness everywhere,
    A land of wealth and beauty,
    With enough for all to share;
    A house that we call Freedom,
    A home of Liberty,
    And it belongs to fighting people
    That's America to me.

    My only problem with Ron Paul is that he comes from that isolationist wing of the GOP. While I would gladly have him as Fed Secretary or Treasury Secretary, I don't want him anywhere near the State department or Defense.

    My heart stopped when I saw that picture. I was so hoping that they had met. Palin is smart like a freaking fox. If she snags West, she can win this. This is the team that could boot the Communists right out of the White House.
