Ronald Reagan is honored as an American hero….in Great Britain
A ten foot high bronze statue of President Ronald Reagan was unveiled near the American embassy in London yesterday. On hand was Condoleeza Rice who was there representing not only the US but also former First Lady Nancy Reagan. British Foreign Secretary William Hague spoke at the ceremony…
“Statues bring us to face to face with our heroes long after they are gone. Ronald Reagan is without question a great American hero; one of America’s finest sons, and a giant of 20th-century history. You may be sure that the people of London will take this statue to their hearts.”
Hague also read a message from former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher…
“Ronald Reagan was a great president and a great man—a true leader for our times. He held clear principles and acted upon them with purpose. Through his strength and his conviction he brought millions of people to freedom as the Iron Curtain finally came down.”
But London wasn’t the only place honoring the great Ronald Reagan. On Friday, Prague renamed a street in his honor and on Wednesday, Budapest also unveiled a statue honoring the great American hero. All these celebrations are honoring Reagan’s 100th birthday (which was on February 11, 2011). Apparently, there will be other ceremonies taking place all over the world during this year long celebration.
What a wonderful thing to do for such an amazing leader.
Think Obama will rate this kind of attention when he turns 100?
Considering one of his first acts as president was to return the bust of Winston Churchill to Great Britain…a bust that had a long honored history in the White House, I don’t think the Brits will waste their money on Obama.

I think the only 'leaders' who will be pleased with the Obama presidency decades down the line will be the leaders of jihad. He has done much to further the cause of islamic supremacism, at great cost to freedom of Americans and people all over the world.
If only the good Lord would give us another great leader like Reagan.
He has. It’s up to the people to elect her.
Thanks for posting this. I saw the headline, but I didn't read the story. This posting reminds me of my recent business trip to Berlin. While I was there, I had the opportunity to visit the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. It was a fascinating place to visit and I encourage anyone to go there. The Germans obviously lived with this bizarre division of their country for many years. I applaud them for making sure that future generations do not forget the past. Anyway, within one of the exhibits is a room dedicated to President Ronald Reagan. In that room were numerous displays of what Reagan did to end communism in the USSR and in East Germany. They have as a video loop of Ronald Reagan's speech in Berlin. I have never heard all of it, and I was so blessed to actually see the entire speech. It was inspiring and encouraging.
What a stark contrast between the two administrations. One that champions freedom and one that champions "who me? don't blame me!"
No Obama appointed U.S. Ambassador was there. Reagan defended Britain's battle to regain the Falkland Islands and have freedom to half of Europe. Reagan is a man loved in Europe. But the people who opposed Reagan's method to gain freedom work for the EU. Freedom is worthless if people don't defend it.
And guess who wasn't there….our Ambassador.
And that is so sad. It's sour grapes. The State Department ought to be taken the woodshed for this level of disrespect. As I continue to say, we have the most anti-American president ever. There is no doubt in my mind.
There will a statue to commemorate Obama's birth on the occasion of his 100th birthday. At his birthplace. Wherever that may be……
This Saturday, I'm going over to the Ronald Regan library in Simi Valley. I'm planning to take lots of pictures and (with any luck) will post them to my FaceBook account after I get back.
The U.S. Ambassador was conspicuous by his absence at the recent unveiling of a Ronald Reagan statue in London.
So where was Louie? And, how do you get to be the American Ambassador to Great Britain in the first place?
Simple. You bundle money for Barry's presidential campaign in 2008 in the amount of $500,000. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/07/the_c…
