Paul/Palin 2012?

Posted on November 30, 2011 by Kathleen Gee // 2012 Elections, 2012 GOP Candidates, Ron Paul, Sarah Palin

Kathleen Gee | My Fantasy Ron Paul/Sarah Palin Campaign Poster

As you all know, I’m a Ron Paul supporter. Have been for years. However, I also love Sarah Palin. I love that she took on the corruptocrats in Alaska–in both parties–and won. I love how she sold the governor’s jet on eBay. I love how she raised five kids while running a huge state. And I love how she leads the media around by the nose. But most of all, I love how she makes Leftists like Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann explode into misogynistic frenzies and reveal themselves as the raging hypocritical sexists that they are.

Sarah Palin has a track record of kicking ass, taking names, and not giving a sh*t what the Democrat-controlled media thinks.

Just like Ron Paul.

There are ongoing efforts by Sarah Palin supporters to get her to reconsider her decision to not run for president. However, I personally think it’s a moot point. She has missed the deadlines to appear on the ballot in several of the important early caucuses and primaries….as the presidential candidate.

But VP candidates don’t “run” for the office of Vice President in the primaries. They’re put on the ticket relatively late in the game.

So lately I’ve been having this secret fantasy about a Ron Paul/Sarah Palin ticket. I don’t know how much they have interacted, but she has supported his economic views on several TV appearances…and like Ron Paul, she has the cojones to wade into the cesspit that is Washington, D.C. and clean house. She was relentless in cutting graft and corruption in Alaska, so I imagine she’d be pretty good at it in Washtingon, too.

And this election is going to be all about the economy. Every single poll that has come out in the last 12 months shows that the American people are screaming, “It’s The ECONOMY, STUPID!” The only real objection most conservatives have to Ron Paul is his non-interventionist foreign policy. It would be interesting to hear Sarah Palin’s take on it, given her son Track’s military service.

The Democrat-Controlled Media is obsessed with Sarah Palin. They can’t stop talking about her. But their strategy in dealing with Ron Paul is to pretend that he doesn’t exist. (A Pew Research Center poll revealed that Rick Perry gets the most media coverage, and Ron Paul gets the least.)

So I think it’s interesting to ponder on how the media could pile on to Sarah Palin, while simultaneously never mentioning the man at the top of the ticket.

Here are just a few things Sarah Palin and Ron Paul have in common:

Ron Paul and Sarah Palin are both pro-life. They’re both people of faith. They both have incredibly strong families.

They both appear to be fundamentally decent and kind people, and clearly, they both love America.

They’ve both run for office numerous times before, and presumably, any possible skeletons have been dragged out into the sunshine.

They both have rabidly enthusiastic bases of support. Easily the most energized volunteers.

And both of them care more about their families and American than politics or running for re-election. However, both have learned to work with principled Democrats.

Both Ron Paul and Sarah Palin are hated by the Cocktail Party GOP. Both Ron Paul and Sarah Palin are loathed by the Democrat-Controlled Media.

Neither Ron Paul nor Sarah Palin would spend a moment pandering to either one.

So here’s my question for you, Dear Reader. What are the flaws in my fantasy football Dream Ticket? Let’s do some armchair vetting (which is more than Obama got in 2008).

How could the Paul/Palin ticket encourage GOP and Independent turnout? How could it suppress Obama/Biden turnout?

If Ron Paul announced Sarah Palin as a running-mate, would you vote for him in the primary?

Would you vote for Ron Paul and Sarah Palin in the general election?

What kind of attacks could they expect from the Cocktail Party?

What kind of attacks could they expect from the Democrat-Controlled Media?

What kind of attacks could they expect from Obama? How would they react?

I’d love to hear your take on this, Sarah Palin fans!

And a lot of Ron Paul supporters that I know can't stand Sarah Palin, or anyone else with an R (or D) next to their name…

I know… there are some people that don't even want to vote for him because they're opposed to playing within the two party system. Being a purist in your views isn't going to get anything changed… sigh.

I agree with what both Palin and Paul say and stand for, but I would only vote for Paul if my only other option is Obama. My reason is he has not achieved anything of any significance in all his years in Congress. The President must be a leader with great political skills so that he can accomplish his agenda. Paul doesn't have great political skills. On the other hand, Palin has demonstrated that she has the ability to accomplish her agenda and do it with support from both sides of the aisle.

You may need to use a slightly different standard with Ron Paul, because as a Libertarian style candidate, how could he cooperate with Republicans who let us face it – have tended to preside over, and expand big government, rather than really take it on. I have mainly seen Ron Paul as one who I agree with on the issues, but who is essentially not electable at the Presidential level. Perhaps with Palin on the ticket, he would be VERY electable. I would love to see Palin at the top of the ticket.

Having Paul as VP would certainly make President Palin assassination-proof…at least from the Left…

The majority of his years in Congress, the House of Representatives has been controlled by Democrats. Also, the people in his district seem to be pretty happy with his work, having re-elected him 10 times.

17 big-time leftists, including Barney Frank, have opted to not run in 2012…I think because they know it’s going to be an even bigger electoral bloodbath for the Democrat party than 2010.

I think whichever Republican is nominated is going to win. Which is why I’m working so hard to make sure it’s NOT a handpicked-by-the-media RINO candidate (Mittens, Perry, Huntsman).

So Kathleen. The best thing about a Paul Presidency would be Carole Paul as First Lady.

I like this Paul/Palin idea too. Like many have said, turning this country back to limited government would be like turning an aircraft carrier. Being VP would put her in line for the next presidency, giving the country more time to return to limited government.

Energy Policy – She has experience with Big Oil and our natural resources.
Foreign Policy – Her hawkishness would help RP with the cocktail republicans, and his guiding principles would give her ideas depth and direction.
Domestic Policy – She takes the Constitution seriously and she could show the House of Representatives what it looks like to have a spine.

Iowa likes them both. Has Dr. Paul ever mentioned Sarah Palin?

I think the best thing about a Paul presidency would be saving America, but to each his own. :)

The more I think about it, the more I like the Paul/Palin ticket. Both of them have suffered from lamestream, Democrat Media disdain…and ironically, they’re both helping people understand how pervasive it is. I can’t tell you how many people have emailed to say that once they looked into Ron Paul’s actual record, instead of just listening to Cocktail Party pundits or the LSM, they discovered they agree with 90% of his positions. Same with Sarah Palin…once low-information voters start to discover how unfairly maligned she has been, it opens their eyes to the media manipulation, and they discover a number of things about her that they respect and admire.

          It’s a very interesting wishcasting exercise….

I'm definitely in the "I'll only vote for Paul if it's a choice between Paul and Obama" camp. Yet Sarah Palin would make a lot easier to hold my nose as I vote for him.

While I am not a Palin fan this whole idea is ridiculous. Paul would be destroyed because of his foreign affairs ideas and Palin has negatives in the 60's.

Puh-leeze. His 'foreign affairs ideas' are closer to the American people's than Obama's or any of the other primary challengers in the GOP!

The problem with a Palin/Paul ticket is that Palin is not a conservative. Anyone who could endorse John McCain is a neocon at best.

I think if you spent some time getting to know Sarah Palin, you would discover that she’s fiercely, unapologetically independent in the same way Ron Paul is. I believe Sarah Palin had (and has) far more class than John McCain ever did…and that she was flattered to be asked to serve by someone she understood to be a “war hero.” I don’t think she and her family were given a lot of time to think about it by the McCain camp, and I suspect that the more she learned about John McCain and his minions, the less she could stand any of them. But still, to this day, she refuses to throw him under the bus. I call that classy. Your mileage may vary. You’ll note she has said almost nothing supportive of John McCain’s positions in a very, very long time, whereas she has praised Ron Paul’s determination to shrink government several times.

I think Sarah Palin’s position on almost anything is far closer to Ron Paul’s position than John McCain’s.

I still fantasize about a Ron Paul/Sarah Palin ticket. But I think both sides will have to get over what they “think” they know about the other candidate, and realize they’ve both been sold a bill of goods by the Democrat-Controlled Media.

I get tingles down BOTH legs when I think of the operatives in the basement of the White House, the ones in the Cocktail Party GOP, and those in the Democrat-Controlled Media would react to a Paul/Palin onslaught.

Sorry, a gynecologist is not my first choice for commander-in-chief. We live in perilous times and that peril is international. Espousing a 1870's isolationist policy might be truly Libertarian but it is equally truly impossible in 2011. The world won't leave us out of it.

Palin has more sense than to link herself to a loon like Paul.

And do you actually know what “isolationist” means? (I’m asking a serious question).

I'm the staunchest of Palin fans, so I'd want a President Palin. Not VP, nor would she run for VP again. Paul/Palin is an intriguing, outside the box idea, but probably the closest we'll get to that is the campaign poster at the top of this page.

If Paul becomes the last man standing against Obama, I'd eagerly vote for him. I admire his views on most things, but not everything. The only way I see Paul rise to frontrunner status is if the other candidates systematically disqualify themselves… which could happen. For now, I want Cain, despite the orchestrated lies being told about him, or Gingrich, as the formidable candidate he is.

Now that Herman Cain is pretty much toast I think anyhing is posible. By any thing I mean anything but Romney or Huntsman. There were too many conservatives running splitting the conservative vote and therefore helping Romney. I think Cain should drop out. I don't believe the allegations of sexual harassment, but the affair seems posible and if it is true Cain shoul;d drop out and give the other true conservatives a fighting chance against Romney. I like Paul, Bachmann, Santorum and Newt.

Ron Paul has too much 'splainin' to do on Israel (probably the most obvious difference between him and Palin at this point) to be worthy of my consideration and that of many other politically conservative Jewish voters (small in number though we are). The foreign aid thing alone is fine – many in Israel no longer see a need for it to continue (though it's as much an American jobs program as a foreign aid program, but I digress…), but against the backdrop of his widely-publicized anti-Semitic (-leaning?) statements and writings it takes on a whole different meaning. Many see him as the second coming of Pat Buchanan. Now, I'm aware that he denies association with those statements and writings that appear in his name, and that's why I say he has some 'splainin' to do, as opposed to summarily writing him off.

Which statements? If you are going to make a comment like that, you should at least be able to point to where such a statement has been made. It's not like Ron Paul is somehow the one candidate whose public statements are missing from the web. And he's been in office for years, so anything like that ought to be easily producible by now. Spit it out!

i looked this up because i thought maybe someone else had thought of it as well. i think it would be a great third party ticket that could really buck the two party system. the problem with working in the current system is you have to sell out to it. and here we have two people well known for going their own way. we would pull from the right and the left. two people of principle willing to defend the constitution. given a romney/rubio-obama/biden-paul/palin choice i’d choose the latter and i think a lot of other people would too. it would definitely cause a far right wing review of paul, and those people are sheep.
