QUESTION: What real, legitimate, actionable good came out of Obama blowing all that money going to India.

Posted on November 13, 2010 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz

I have a friend here in Boystown who is a drag queen.  Shocking, I know.

He’s old school drag, meaning he doesn’t call himself a made-up name like Ophelia Goodies, Cyon Flare, Teri Yaki, or other queens in town…but instead is a Laura Branigan impersonator…perhaps the last of his kind.

I have tried to get him gigs with various events I am associated with, but the money is never good enough.  For it to be worth his Solitaire and Gloria vamping, Dustin needs $400 just to leave the house in his makeup, wig, and sequines. Authentic “Branigan brows” are apparently expensive, and made from endangered wooly bears, it seems.

The real, actual Laura Branigan did events for less..before she died in 2005.

I just can’t help thinking about how much like a drag queen Obama is.

Taking 3,000 people to India as his entourage? Drag queen.

Demanding every room in the most expensive hotel around? Drag queen.

Bringing 34 ships with him, just “because sailors’ butts are so cute in those tight white pants”? BEYOND drag queen…and precariously into “ghost of Liberace” territory.

I just don’t see how spending a billion dollars for the Obamas to take their egofest on the road netted taxpayers a damn thing.

What was the point of burning all that cash when so many people are making such deep sacrifices just to keep food on the table?

We have a great Secretary of State who loves being as far away from what’s happening in Washington as possible. People love her wherever she goes.  She takes one plane, does not demand elaborate things, and does not require 3,000 people as an entourage.

We also have ambassadors, that taxpayers pay for, in almost every country.

There is also video conferencing and telephones in the White House. I have seen pictures of these devices. Whether Obama knows how to operate them or not, they are there.

So, there is a host of alternatives for talking to foreign people wherever they may be, pursuant to whatever needs to be said, that does not involve Lifestyles of the Rich and Deliberately Out of Touch imperial tours of India and wherever else the Obamas want to take thousands of hangers-on, at great taxpayer expense, today.

Why not show some restraint?

Do Reggie Love and other athletic, young, “basketball buddies” really need to go on the next trip abroad? Aren’t there young men who work in the hotels in those countries who can keep Obama entertained at a tenth of the cost of hauling Reggie Love, Kal Penn, Justin Beiber, or other young men around for Obama?

Just because Miss Thang (or Michelle Antoinette) wants to fly somewhere exotic doesn’t mean she should.

Just because Dustin thinks he can’t possibly leave the house for less than $400 to lip synch to a gorgeous-eyebrowed dead woman doesn’t mean any fools should fork that much over for him to do it.

Some basic appreciation of finance, proper spending habits, and restraint during this Depression in the ranks of drag queens would be wonderful.

Whether they live in Boystown…or the neverending party and fantasy world that has become the White House.

I have a liberal friend that refuses to believe that the trip cost a billion $. He says FOX started that rumor. If anyone finds a link that shows the costs please send it to me at brogers777@aol.com

It can’t be a FOX link!

It was an Indian paper that came up with the price tag. Unfortunately, it seems that the White House has been reluctant to release the true costs.

And wouldn’t the Indian Press know what the costs were?

As far as his successes and failures for all the money he spent, it was an epic fail. One of his goals was to follow up on the treaty that GW Bush started with the So. Koreans on trade, so it would be more fair. Utopia voted against the treaty while a senator because the automation in the Korean industry would cost them jobs. So he wanted to bring the CHICAGO Razzle Dazzle to them – explaining the error of their ways. His crew did not get the “changes” that Utopia and his union men to the So. Koreans in time for them to consider them so they won’t/can’t consider the “changes” [even though the Euros did] and so the Euros go home with a good trade agreement and Utopia goes home with something else in his hand.

In addition, he and Tim Geitner asked that China be held to no more than 4% cap on their trade imbalance and the other G20 countries said nope. The look on Geitner and Utopia’s faces when they stepped off the stage was startlingly priceless. They both look sick – as in “I can’t believe we are not getting this” I believe it is part of a weekly standard article by Joseph Lash.

Nothing good came of it. Well, then again, maybe it did help him see that everything he visits doesn’t return gold. But he will revise it in his narcisistic head into being a successful venture as can be seen when reporters ask him what critisisms he received and he chastized them for not askng what compliments he received.
There are some talking heads out there that say the most successful was the India for a multitude of strategic and economic reasons. We’ll see.

The funny bit about the G20 was Obama’s attempt to take down China for artificially devaluing their currency. (This is to keep their exports cheap.)

No one is particularly fond of the Chinese – least of all their neighbours – but this was doomed. The US is doing the exact same thing with QE2 (and 3…and 4…) and it was just Obama trying to bully other countries.

And no one was that impressed when he started to cede control and influence of the ASEAN countries to China. (Again, least of all the ASEAN countries.)

BTW, at least Liberace used the money HE EARNED to pay for his extravagances, unlike Barack the Sun King and Princess Moochelle. Yeah, it may not have been worth it but the one good thing that came out of Lord and Lady Gasbag going to India was that it got them the hell out of here for awhile!

Worthy conversation again from yesterday’s open thread:

but Charles is not 100 percent pure…

We love Charles 80 percent of the time, including his support of Israel and vitriol towards Soros and his dead-on attacks of Obama’s policies.

…. As for the other 20 percent – We cannot support him when he continually mocks Sarah, in lock-step with Tokyo Rove, exposing his Ivy-League elitism (McGill and Harvard) and while at the same time showing extreme deference to Obama by heralding him as the new great communicator. This only perpetuates this Lame-Stream-Media Big Lie (which is an impossible claim to back-up). Obama would fail any community college Speech 101 class.

He can’t write them, memorize (without TOTUS) them or deliver them. As an orator he is an embarrassment.

Charles saying he is a great orator and communicator is pure propaganda. You cannot define great communication as stuttering (ah,ooh, uhm, ooh, uhm…) …. again while mocking Sarah’s alleged lack of substance.

One further example to demonstrate – please see Rush Limbaugh’s transcripts quoting Obama whenever he speaks. Rush is the only one I am aware of to do an exact transcription of Obama-speak when quoting him. Try saying he is a great communicator after reading an actual transcript.

Charles cannot recognize the reincarnation of The Great Communicator (REAGAN) – that of course being our beloved SARAH PALIN. (We can only assume he also missed the original Great Communicator’s arrival while he was employed in the Jimmy Carter White House).

… this is why we love Charles just 80 percent…trust but verify

Charles will always defend the presidency – regardless who is sitting in the Oval. He gets antzy when the newzies attack our president [again - no matter who it is] abroad. He feels that the arrows should only be slung AFTER the prez gets his feet back into the country.

I think at this point it’s pretty shocking how ego-driven this guy is. Every time he does something it becomes a disaster. I don’t think that’s just a coincidence and it’s not just the right attacking him. The left attacked him this time.

It’s expected that a president is going to go abroad and do the handshake, dinner, good will yada-yada kinda trip but this time it was not a good thing by any example. It turned out to be unwise and ill-spent.

When Obama is finally thrown out or forced out or whatever, it will be so fun reading books and interviews from the service staff who live the horror every day of the Obama’s demands. Obama is shaping up to remove Carter from the “worst president ever” short list…way beyond my expectations.

I think Obama got about as much out of this as he did that trip to Europe a year ago trying to get the Olympics to come to Chicago! Even if the cost of the trip was 1/4th of what it supposedly cost, it still is a LOT of money. Each year in India, about 35,000 babies are born with a cleft palate…they simply do not have a chance at a half-way decent life unless they have corrective surgery. A group like The Smile Train can give that gift for $250 per child. This country could have paid for a years’ worth of operations for those 35,000 Indian children for less than $9 million dollars. Instead, we are renting out entire hotels, taking thousands of people (names still unknown to us the taxpayers), scores of airplanes, dozens of cars, not to mention having a goodly number of ships off the coast in the Indian Ocean for the duration of his stay there. And not one of them was thoughtful enough to send me a postcard, thanking me for making this trip possible.
