QUESTION: How can you personally change the way business as usual is done in government?

Posted on May 30, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

We don’t have a lot of time today, as we’re caught up trying to solve another mystery, this one “The Case of the Unticketable Car”, and we’ve got some people lined up to interview and meet with about what could be a much bigger story than just one BMW being on a “No Ticket List”.

But, in the last few days, we’ve now encountered two separate oddities here in Chicago that we realize could change the way government conducts itself.  There’s the fact that ordinary citizens can report on something like the “Do Not Ticket List”, and apparently expose those behind it, where the Chicago Tribune and other “real reporters” never bothered to bring any of this to light.  Then, there’s the union waste we spotted the other day on the Belmont Red Line stop, where we saw one man sweeping while four union “supervisors” and “safety inspectors” watched him work — while all of them collected full pay, at a time when the Chicago Transit Authority claims it is broke and has no money to properly continue services.  YET, it has enough fund for the union to send five lazy guys to a train stations to watch one of them do a half-baked job sweeping an already clean platform?

We believe, as citizens, we’re experiencing a personal evolution…it’s become clear to us that we need to carry video equipment with us at all times and start recording every instance of waste and corruption we can spot in Chicago.  We’re going to meet with someone who can teach us how to make and post YouTube videos right here on our site, and build that capability into a new site when we can get that online too.  We certainly can’t spend all of our days chasing after stories like this, but when they fall in our laps we’re going to make noise about them — when, in the past, we would have noticed it, complained about it to ourselves, then never taken it any further.

Well, we’re committed to taking things further from now on.  We’ve reached a point where this site, as a hobby, has more or less become what we do…and we don’t intend to go anywhere.

If we root out the stories and make our videos or catch things on film, we need your help to do the research that will go into the essays we write about these things.  Every mystery or oddity we encounter can be a little project, pooling all of our resources.  Five guys in Boystown can’t change the world, but combine us with all of you out there, and we might just change the way business is done in our government.

If we’re effective, we hope we become a model for others out there at other political sites…because just imagine if every politically motivated person out there started DOING SOMETHING about the problems in their cities, instead of just reading about all of this garbage, sighing, telling family members about it at the dinner table, then feeling hopeless that no one is paying any attention.

Do you realize you could be playing a major part in getting them to pay attention?

You can take that step from being an observer into becoming an activist.

That’s NOT the dirty word we always saw it as…it’s, in fact, a synonym for “patriot”.

All of this takes an awful lot of work, but we think America is worth it.

The Tea Party Movement proves there are many of you out there who think the same thing.

We do not need to wait for a rally or a protest to send a message to those in government…we can all do that every single day, by calling them out on their waste and busting their corruption wherever we find it.

There are many mysteries to solve.

How can you help us?

They did this On purpose , they put in place a way to consolidate the wealth of our nation over the past 39 years , because of a fear of this ; http://www.population-security.org/11-CH3.html , its why they took us off the precious metals standard that forced solvency to be maintained by driving Government policy that did not run deficits , regardless of Trade policy . The fiat system is a consolidation of wealth system , and the idea that we take money from some and redistribute it to other people with less so more equality solves the issues we face is a Lie that makes a great story by the MSM for the power grab by the progressives that are really only wanting to finish the consolidation of wealth and with it the control over natural resources that give quality of life , and if the progressives were really being truthful about bring quality of life to everyone , they would be trying to write policy that promotes Resource expansion in the 3 world world so that their quality of life could be created like it has been done in the areas they want to take these qualities of life away from to redistribute .

Don’t let the Independence of the USA evolve into Statism But instead stand up for more Opportunity to expand our resource base to provide a greater quality of life for all in the world , not this stupid redistribution ideology , Because it does nothing to solve the Population growth issue , and if we run down our abundance in resource supply , WAR not Peace is the result !!!!

The Governments of the world are only printing enough money to fund themselves and the most immediate special interests that can give them the most votes for power grab policies !!!!!!!!

They are running a bait and switch to just gain voter appeal to gain more power to vote in laws that consolidate our Freedoms , first by appeasing to the notion that we all need to give up some of our wealth to the less fortunate , instead of expanding the overall wealth by and too expanding the overall resource supply .

Redistribution is a socialist strategy. It fails every time. It is just a mantra the socialists use to give it a warm and fuzzy feel so idiots who sit in their meditation gardens drinking prune juice thinking that abortions will decrease the population and be a GOOD thing can go to their cocktail parties and talk about how they turned off their sprinkles for ten minutes yesterday but everyone else should wipe their *** with one sheet of toilet paper.

If we allow the socialists to engineer this cap and trade fiasco we have only ourselves to blame. We cannot trust any party to combat this. They are all corrupt and will only do what puts money in their own pockets. It truly is why the tea party is so important. We have to take control of this situation ourselves and get rid of this horror that Piglosi and Dweeb Reid created.

Its time for TERM LIMITS for career politicians , Immigration and Alternative Energy to be the New Immigration Bill in Washington DC !!!!!

Its time for a serious discussion about Algae Energy , And make it a part of our Immigration Policy with Mexico !!!!!!!! Its Time for this to be a part of a Greater Policy of Term LIMITS for Career Politicians so we the people do not end up like we are ever again TOO !!!!!!
Why Don’t we have a Immigration Policy that puts together say a 30 year development in Mexico , that would fund a start up alternative energy industry with Algal Biofuel that puts Mexico back to work developing these energies and by products from the pulp , and this be the way to allow Mexico to create jobs and work with the USA to create a path way to citizenship in the USA that by working in these industries a Mexican can generate an income that can afford them to pay for the process of becoming a citizen or maybe they would like to stay in their homeland if there were work like this available ???? Its time for a serious discussion about Algae Energy !!!!!!!

Stand Up America and Demand this be the New Energy Frontier !!!!!

Inspiring. Imagine a site where people from all over the country could upload videos exposing corruption and waste. It may take a while, but with the help of this new site, the government may once again FEAR the people.

We have anti-corruption laws, unfortunately they are enforced by AG Holder types and covered up by the LSM. Places like this in the blogosphere are shining light into dark corners and making the rats and cockroaches scurry away, at least until they finish outlawing freedom of speech.

And in the AZ they anticipated a problem with their own AG enforcing the new immigration law so the statute included a provision to allow Gov. Brewer to appoint independent counsel in defense of the law! If the elected leaders refuse to do their job, we need to empower those who are willing and able.

Sounds like a great plan. I am always amazed at the amount of information I am able to discover on this blog. If something happens there are two places I go to find information: The Drudge Report and this blog. If I’m busy and miss a story I can come here and see the evolution of the story as well which is always interesting.

You are right. We cannot just sit here reading stuff. We have to do things. Even if it’s just getting the message out, making phone calls, or calling out things we catch. With the growing audience this blog is attracting we can make a difference.

    Good morning.

What a great rush it is isnt it? When you decide to create change instead of watching the issues go by. It is an even bigger charge than Chris Matthews leg tingles.

I think it tis the universe’s equivalent of the football slaps. “attaboy, go get ‘em” thwack.

Makes me seriously think about getting a phone.

    “Power to the People!”

The communists screamed it, while capitalism has provided it. Those in power are going to find out that a ‘surveillance society’ works both ways.

Practice your cell-cam quick draws, folks. Know how to take pics and video with it and practice hitting those settings until it’s reflex. You never know when YOU might break the next story on government corruption, waste, malfeasance or general douchebaggery.

It’s up to all of us. No one who gives a damn about America has the option to ignore these things. We all have the duty to be aware, alert and informed, and expose the evil at the heart of the beast.

Boyz…I will be happy to forward (or just post) any and all materials I gather here in PA on two topics that show the duplicity of the media and the Obots (but…that is redundant).

Joe Sestak. Even though he is from the easter part of PA, he is now the Dim candidate for the ‘Specter’ seat (please…let those wacky German kidz make a ‘When Hitler Found Out…’ video on THAT after November). Sestak is lower than the scum on the bottom of the Mon River (which ever one of you Boyz that is the native yinzer will know how low THAT is).

He lied to cover up for Barky White House.
Clinton lied to cover up for the Barky White House.

This can NOT be allowed to happen. This has to be cannon fodder for Team Toomey!!!

And…(MQ-C climbs back up on her cyber soap box)…I have been letter writing and emailing (for a long time) concerning the FRAUD, MALFEASANCE, and general hinky doings (ok…I don’t put that in my ‘real; letters) at Penn State University, in the lab and lecture hall of one Dr. Michael ‘Hockey Stick’ Mann.

A Centre County, PA Grand Jury NEEDS to be convened (and I think when PA turns red, it will!!!) to investigate the coddling and conspiracy (for research grants, fun and profit) of both Mann and PSU in the Global Warming fraud. Happy Valley needs to go all ‘East Anglia.’

Anything else (another Heinz Field muzzie photo op); exploding microwaves left on side walks during Marathons; or even a Pirate winning season (ok…that one was a stretch) I will happily present the ‘local’ pov.
    ;) MQ-C

How do you go about changing government? From personal experience I have found that the “squeaky wheel does get the grease.” Meaning you have to be willing to speak out about whatever the problem (informed of course), and you have to be persistent, (like a dog with a bone). If you believe in something you gather others to your point of view and you become a drum beat for change. This of course is much easier at the community level, but Sarah Palin does a pretty good job at the national level to demonstrate what I mean.
HB is a good example also. You take up a cause and garner support for the cause. Too many causes can get you going in too many directions so the focus is not successful. Pick one thing you would like to change (at a time), and put all energy to that one issue until achieved. This has worked for me when I have had leadership positions.

I dont know if this should go here or in open thread.

I think I will put it here since it is a strategy to change business as usual.

Nurturing the next generation of politicians. The city councilmen of today are years mayors, then the next decades governors….

It is a more long-term strategy but used and implemented alongside the current-event driven blog and photo opportunities that are provided daily I think it is a winning combo.

What brought this on? Just spoke to my newest council man as he was walking through the lobby to deliver a pizza.

His goals? Conplete his mba, in two years run for mayor, then take it from there and see how he goes. He sees this as an opportunity to learn from the ground up so he has a solid competence and ability to offer as he goes up the political ladder.

I mentioned Hillbuzz and a streamlined history of their site and political evolution and my support of Palin and he said he would be looking at the site and then said she was a very smart woman and asked my opinion: if Palin is that smart on her own, or is it her advisors and I said both. Not only is she that sharp, but she is sharp enough to surround herself with the best, and to LISTEN to them.

Then we smiled about First Dude Todd. yah.

    sorry. back to my point.

Find your local new political people and encourage and nurture them.

I’ve always said that it will have to get far worse before it gets better. How worse? I don’t know, but Americans are turning around, speaking up and teaching their children things about this country that many schools are not teaching them. Obama will NOT bring the HOPE or the CHANGE. It’s the reasonable Americans who cherish what has always been inherently good about this nation, that will deliver honest HOPE and CHANGE.

Thanks for mentioning the word “teaching”. One thing that touches on the change that Hillbuzz has asked of us is confronting the liars who are teaching the nation’s children politically correct nonsense. Those teachers who are filling our children’s minds with falsehoods, and anti-American garbage need to be challenged at every turn. Why do most parents make it easy for these revisionist teachers to “teach” their children a leftist view of America and America’s history? It is America’s leftist dominated classrooms that are producing a public that does not recognize the deviance that has been foisted upon them. I would think that more public attendence of PTA meetings, school board meetings, etc. would help address the leftist bias that is harming America. Keeping oneself informed of that which one’s children are being taught every week would also be of benefit. Don’t let the teaching profession go unchallenged! As for college and university, hold them accountable, too for those professors that they hire. Your tuition pays for good and BAD professors, so complain when necessary.

I think it would be wonderful if more parents were willing to homeschool their children. Then you can teach them your values all day long and teach them what you think ought to be taught.

I started when my girls went into 5th & 3rd grades. I graduated both of them from homeschool. If you start early enough, you can stay on top of academics.

It is time-consuming and at times frustrating and you do have to learn to live without many things because you live on only one salary.

But, it was THE most rewarding thing I ever did in my life. I have never regretted that decision and neither have my daughters.

It also taught me to rely on my heavenly Father for my needs. He never failed me. If this is something that you have been considering for awhile, perhaps God is calling you for this purpose.

You are absolutely right. Parents need to pay attention to what their kids are learning in school. Make sure your kids recognize what is “not quite right”. If you are teaching your kids about American history and government and what’s right…they will recognize when something fishy is told to them at school. My kids always alert me when something is up at school. You HAVE to be alert.

If home school is not for you, it does takes a very special self-sacrificing person, not too many of those around these day, think about private/catholic school. They teach principals and respect for one another, and also have a higher curriculum. Something the public schools have long lost. I have personally noticed a huge difference in my 4 grandchildren’s behavior and scholastic abilities who go to private catholic school than the other grandchildren that are public schooled. If there is a monetary problem they work many private schools will with you on fiances.
