Question: Have Democrats become the party of cruelty?
Watch the clip above from O’Reilly, it’s about a focus group done regarding the Family Guy jab at Sarah Palin, in an episode where a character dates a girl with Down Syndrome. The Democrats in the focus group were shown to be absolutely beyond cruel…to the point of being sociopaths.
We’ve told you already what we’ve faced in the last two years, really three years now, since we started opposing “The Lightbringer”, Dr. Utopia. In those three years, Leftists have done more harm to us and shown us more evil than Republicans ever did in our first 30 years of life. Some Republicans might not like that we are gay, and might not like that we support the Clintons, but no Republican has ever threatened our lives, libeled us, thrown rocks through our windows, punched us in the face, or sought to deprive us of employment opportunities and ruin our good names. Leftists did all of those things, because we do not support “The One”, oh He of the Hope and the Change.
The most a Republican ever did was say, “I’m going to pray for you boys so the Lord straightens you out, and then you’ll get nice wives”. Which, honestly, is kind of sweet, considering the source and knowing the intent was something along the lines of “I really like you guys and I believe you have been challenged and I am praying for you because I want you to have a happy life like I have so that you can be happy as I am the way I understand happiness”.
The Left, should you not agree with them, will pound you and hit you and beat you into the ground until you submit. If you won’t ever buckle, they will just seek to destroy you, throwing every possible weapon they can dream up your way.
It’s impossible for us, at this point, to justify anything the Democrat party does, or to relate to liberal Democrats anymore.
If we, as moderate/conservative Dems feel this way, we wonder how Independents out there feel.
Or, more importantly, how those Independents will VOTE.

Indeed. It has always confused me — how can such ‘tolerant and compassionate’ people be so vicious to people who disagree with them?
They are only tolerant and compassionate towards people who are dems too.
AND agree with them as the Hillboyz prove.
Yes, I forgot to add that very important part of their thinking.
no they aren’t. if your a Dem and DON’T agree with them they will do the same to you
They are not tolerant or compassionate. The meanest people I have ever met have been far-left libs.
I picture it like the evil queen in Snow White, “Mirror mirror on the wall who is the most tolerant and compassionate of them all? And you better give me the right answer if you know what’s good for you.”
LUNTZ: Democrats are perceived as the party of compassion…
lolz all day long
HIllbuzz, your experience with the lefty fringies has demonstrated once and for all that they are, if nothing else, MISERABLE people.
You know that saying, Misery loves company?
Think about that anytime you want to sign on to any kind of lefty program. And I mean the “you” in the generic sense.
The C4P site has a posting on this same video, and the comment string is especially interesting to follow. There’s a poster called “Techno” whose comments are quite well considered.

Second that. His analysis and thoughts are first rate.
JP,
It’s because they are NOT tolerant nor compassionate. Watch what they do not what they say.
This, in a nutsell, explains why I had to leave the Dem party. Yes, it is sociopathic. And it scares the sh** out of me that we seem to have raised a new generation of people whose primary modem operandi is “hate first… listen later.”
Thanks for calling this to our attention. Though, in some ways, I wish I had not seen it.
They think “choice” is great… until you make the one they don’t agree with.
They think the poor have every right to what everyone else does… whether they work or sit on their butts and smoke crack.
They think nothing of tweeting an abortion and defend an “industry” that kills thousands of lives every year.
They trumpet and loudly document every death in a war, counting each to prove “the war is lost” until their guy gets in and then it’s like they have no clue we’re at war.
They blame and try our soldiers while giving terrorists Constitutional rights, same with the CIA and others who are trying to keep us safe.
They borrow and borrow and borrow and borrow while the American people scream, “STOP ALREADY!”
They tear a stateswoman and private citizen down by attacking her children, her marriage, and her every move and breath.
They scream racism and try to foment hatred between people so as to keep their power.
And they are stupid. They fly Air Force One low over New York city, scaring everyone. They refuse to use the word “terrorism” or to count any acts of terrorism as such. They cut off questioning a bomber after 50 minutes to give him Miranda rights so he can lawyer up. They turn their sights on freedom loving Americans calling them disgusting names and sending their goons out to beat them up and intimidate them…
How ANYONE can call them compassionate (and I have a few aunts and uncles who worship on the ground iObama walks on) is BEYOND me!
You so nailed it.
I agree.
But I’m not clapping at this because this has been obvious to most of us on the ‘conservative’ side for basically….forever.
Tolerant of only thier own thoughts and ideas, if you’re on the ‘other side’, you’re demonized.
Excellent post and dead on it.
I saw this on Oreilly… unbelievable.
If a person cant have compassion for a down syndrom baby.. they have no compasion for anyone.
This is partly b/c Leftists politicize everything. It all starts with the “right” opinions and belief systems. You are considered “unworthy” and your humanity is taken away b/c you may be conservative, moderate, religious, not Ivy League-educated or whatever else that is not “accepted.” This closely type of mindset closely resembles Soviet Russia.
Yes. And that mindset created violence and vengeance against those who think differently than the “party” elite. Millions were killed or sent to outpost prisons/gulags in the last century to purify the public of the “wrong” beliefs, opinions. They were enemies of the state.
And it all began with a man who preached “economic justice”. It quickly escalated to violence – first the czar and his family and then the others in the targeted and singled-out-for-hate “ruling class”. Within a decade that violence was inflicted upon ordinary citizens who didn’t spout the doctrine or wouldn’t join the party. Land and property was taken and they became virtual non persons.
If you’ve read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, you’ll recognize the type of bureaucrats in DC today. She called them the “looters” of the system – a description of those who tear down the “producers” and make them the target of ridicule and hatred but count on them to keep producing so that they can “redistribute” their wealth/profits to those that keep them in power. I’m not a follower of her “objectivism” philosophy which includes atheism, but she knew the socialist system and the cruelty from experience. She was expelled from college because she wouldn’t join the communist party.
She left Russia in the 20′s for the US and never looked back. Her books became a beacon of warning to what she called the “best economic system in history”. If you mention Ayn Rand in any university today to almost all professors, particularly of literature and economics, they will spit on the floor, or perhaps move back from you with a visceral fear and loathing. In her book Atlas Shrugged, she called it. The Tea Partiers and independent thinkers are fighting against it.
Look up “The Humanitarian With The Guillotine” on the net by one of Ayn Rand’s mentors, Isabel Paterson if want a good take on the Libs metality.
I will do that – thanks Dagobomb.
An excellent Ayn Rand novel is the semi-autobiographical “We The Living”. It’s about Russia just as the Communists were taking over. It’s pretty short compared to Atlas and The Fountainhead. I was sobbing at the end. Very chilling.
Thanks for the tip, Dagobomb. That piece is excellent. Mrsmwp, thank you, too, I will definitely look for “We the Living” at the library.
Kristi,
Sorry to say it, but I think there are quite a few people these days who don’t have compassion for Down syndrome babies. They are regarded as babies that “never should have been born.” Or, as Hitler’s people used to say, “useless eaters.” That’s why nearly 90 percent of them are killed before birth.
We The Living was made into a movie during Mussolini’s reign in Italy. Either portions of it or all of it are on Youtube. Italian with English subtitles.
Ooooooooo. I’m going to do a search on Youtube. Thanks!
They confuse “being Hip” to mean spiritedness and diminish themselves in the process. What sad, little shriveled hearts result from this.
make that confuse being Hip WITH mean spiritedness…
They also confuse rage with righteous indignation.
The Left must really dislike Downs Syndrome people. And please note that the Left is very much in favor of abortion. There aren’t too many Downs Syndrome people around anymore because amniocentesis allows for a “search and destroy” mission. Amnio doesn’t bring about a “cure” of the condition. It helps parents who want to abort any child that they think won’t be perfect, as they define perfection. The Left has never encountered an abortion that was uncalled for. The only “choice” for them is abortion, especially if the child might be handicapped.
There is also the chance that ammiocentesis can cause miscarriage. That happened to a friend of the family.
However, and amnio can confirm one way or another and also help those of us who are planners and would like to be prepared for what they are about to face. Amnios are not near as dangerous as they used to be before they would use the sonogram to help in the process. I’m pretty sure that Sarah had an amnio because it would have been the only confirmation that she was having a down syndrome baby and we all know she knew ahead of time. But I could be wrong on that…maybe she just had a sonogram and they guessed he was DS, but she didn’t know for sure until he was born? Now I have to go back and get my Going Rogue book and try to find that part.
In any case, not all amnios are considered search and destroy missions. I had one with my first daughter because from the sonogram and my blood tests, they thought she could either be DS or Spina Bifida…or something else. With some things they find, there are things they can do invitro that will help the baby have a better chance of survival. And these things can be discovered via amnio.
I had three other children and two of them also were high risk. I did not, however have amnios with them because they are getting so much better with finding things via sonogram…they get clearer all the time and the docs all lowered my odds with each sonogram and since I explained I would not abort anyway, there was no need. But a part of me always wants to know one way or the other. I would want to plan, talk to my friends who have DS kids, learn what to expect, etc. But I’m a planner.
My point is just to say that not all people who get amnios intend on aborting their child.
I have to agree with you. I had amnios done with my last two children.
I would not have aborted, but if child was a Down’s child or other problem, but I would have changed the hospital I delivered in.
And it would have given us time to plan, change bedrooms around, etc..
Last I heard, amnio has a 1 in 200 chance of causing miscarriage. That’s pretty damn high odds. Why would you be willing to risk the DEATH of your baby just to find out something in advance? That makes no sense to me.
As for Sarah, I doubt she had amnio–for precisely that reason. Too damn risky. There are several tests that are done now, much earlier in pregnancy, that can give information without putting the baby at risk. I don’t remember the name of the one Sarah had; it’s one that wasn’t offered back when I had my kids.
I had a CVS test at 11 weeks. I can honestly say if there had been a genetic abnormality, I don’t know that I would have continued with the pregnancy.
Luckily, the only thing the CVS revealed was the sex.
Maybe its different if the results come back different from you are expecting or wanting. Can anyone deep down know what they would do when faced with tough decisions?
Some very good people think of their other children, the future, society’s treatment, knowing if they are capable of loving a special needs child. Not everyone is able to do that. I don’t wish abortions on people, I do want it to remain legal. I just want more restrictions put on it. 14 year old girls should not be able to get one performed without consent from a parent, guardian, court or other responsible adult.
I consider myself liberal on this issue.
Oh this just makes me sad, sad, sad. To hear you say “knowing if they are capable of loving a special needs child.” You never KNOW what you are capable of until life gives you the situation. I never in a million years thought I would be a single mother–but cancer took my husband from me, I had NO CHOICE in the matter, and somehow I am being a single mom anyway, because I HAD TO rise to the occasion, so I did.
In the old days, before we all turned into such control freaks, before technological advances allowed us to buy into the illusion that we can plan every aspect of our lives, people had special-needs children then, just as they do now, and somehow they just DEALT with it.
It’s called LIFE. You just deal with it. No one gets out of this life without tragedy, challenge, hardship, pain. If we have faith, and we want to stay sane, we look for what we can LEARN in each situation, and trust God/our Higher Power/the benevolent Supreme Being, to help us through it, and lean for support on other human beings who are traveling through this life with us and will feel blessed if there’s anything we can let them do to help.
I remember a decade or so ago a friend was advised by a doctor to have amnio – her third child; she was in her 30′s. She declined and the doctor was very upset with her. The baby was fine.
Her stress about the doctor’s attitude was something we talked about a lot. We discussed how obstetricians were leaving her state [Florida] because of many law suits against the docs. They were either switching to strictly gynocology practice or leaving the state.
What we should be worrying about, if Utopia’s “reform” bill passes, is those panels that will be charged with finding the “best outcomes” and “most cost effective” procedures. How long before women will be coerced to have amnio because if they don’t, the government regulated industry won’t pay for the birth?
Also, is it too ridiculous to imagine that if a diagnosis of Down Syndrome, or a chronic problem like Cerebral Palsy is the result, that the woman be required to abort because the “reform” industry won’t pay for the problems associated with the “less than perfect” child?
Perhaps that is cynical thinking on my part, but with all the disgust the left shows to women who choose to continue their pregnancy despite the known problems, wouldn’t it be prudent to think forward? And with this particular group in charge, I am not confident that they would not encroach upon the liberty and freedom of women to make that particular choice if it doesn’t have a “better outcome” or is not “cost effective.”
The crux of the liberal confusion/lie is that they say redistribution of wealth = compassion. Not redistributing wealth = cruelty. The liberals can run around all day saying how they want to give away free this and free that and claim to be the compassionate ones. But look at who really gives charity of THEIR OWN MONEY. Not libs. Look at the destruction of societies who practice socialism and communism. Misery is the only thing that is spread around.
Most conservatives believe in a minimal social safety net. But beyond that, people need to get off their hind ends and work for a living. The dignity that that brings lifts all boats and society benefits, as well as the individual/families and children.
The liberal way of thinking is an immature outlook. “I want a nanny state to look after me”.
This immature Lord of the Flies attitude resounds in their treatment of those they disagree with. They won’t even halt their rabid attack in the face of an innocent child.
Because they always know better… just ask them.
I saw this too and it is fantastic.
chrissy, I loved it too.
Democrats are angry at Senator Bunning for “blocking” the extension of UNFUNDED NO ONE KNOWS WHERE THE MONEY WILL COME FROM to pay for them unemployment benefits–because the Democrats passed Pay as you go and he is adhering to it. So they want to yank him from the Baseball Hall of Fame. A perfect example of how the Democrats operate.
Speaking of Democrat radicals, everyone please read this post about the Leftists and their religion of big government. The current Democrat party does not CARE about losing the House and Senate if the cost is passing socialized medicine b/c its all about control and more gov’t power.
People, we are not dealing with sane and rational people. I hate to sound alarmist about this, but we have to further educate ourselves to what we are really dealing with. The fact that Obama and co. refuse to drop the healthcare issue, just proves the point of the authors.
http://hotair.com/archives/2010/02/27/are-democrats-choosing-to-run-off-a-cliff-with-obamacare/
My sense is that the leadership in both houses of Congress (not to mention the White House) is well-described by this analysis. But whether some of the fractions in the House in particular are willing to sacrifice themselves in this cause is very doubtful — mainly the Stupak group and other “blue dogs” but perhaps others as well.
Leaving the House aside, where I keep drawing a blank is the question of how legislative provisions amending the Reid bill in the direction of Stupak’s amendment can by any stretch of the imagination be called simply budgetary (thus permitting or excusing the use of reconciliation). Not to mention the not so little problem that many Democratic Senators will presumably not vote for such modifications of the Reid bill.
And I still think that even if most of the Democratic Senators are in fact possessed by this madness and incapable any longer of considering their own situation rationally, initiating recall campaigns against all of them in states where it is (or may be) legally possible would serve as a looming threat that might help return them to at least a modicum of sanity.
“Become” the party of cruelty??? Maybe in the early days of my life ( i was born during the brief JFK admin) they were not the party of cruel. For most of my life all the cruel people identified themselves as democrats. Except for the lunatic fringe of the Christian right, people in the Republican party are just average people with hope and aspirations for themselves and their children. The older I get the more I realize what a aweful movement the 60′s revolution was. A far reaching mistake!
I couldn’t agree more. The 60′s are turning into a disaster and oh, how we were bamboozled! I gauge the beginning of the end with the demise of the JFK generation. The Liberals of that era are not the “Progressives” of today. They hi-jacked the liberal arm of the Dem party just as the radical neocons hi-jacked the Republicans. I believe the Tea Partiers are in the process of re-claiming the Republican party…because at least they’ll listen…any remaining honorable Dems better do the same with the “Progressives” and marginalize the hell out of them.
I think the Tea Partiers are in the process of re-claiming the entire country! There are many many Democrats in the movement who are sick of the leftists who stole their party. There are many many Independents in the movement that are horrified by their vote for Obama and want to make things right again. And there are many many R’s that are sickened by the weakness of their own party leaders not to be able to right a ship that seems to be sinking.
The tea partiers are letting all leadership in DC know that it’s time to stop pretending they know what is best and to listen to the people – who generally do know what is best – for them and their family’s future!
The message is clear. Dial the spending and taxing back boys or find another mode of employment.
erseyGram
I am one of those Democrats that is horrified by what has happened to the Democratic party-it is practically unrecognizable. I am proud to be a member of the Tea Party-will not vote Dem, and will think Independent (which I always did anyway). I think the Tea Party folks will take back the country and will vote as a group much more conservative.
I think the tea party will be taking back both parties.
Amen, Michelle,
And for the near future, none of us should be influenced to declare a party to people who ask. The parties have to know that if they want our vote, they are going to have to work for it.
I don’t think the Tea Party should become a separate party – that would just split the vote and give the left the advantage. I think we should all take our parties back. The R’s, if they want to and the D’s if they want to.
Have you ever noticed how the Independents are romanced for every election? They are polled specifically for what wording or language they like and works for them and then [particularly the D's] use that language. I’m pretty sure the R’s are about 10 years behind in that diversion, just like being behind in technology. Hopefully, for this election at least, they understand it and use it, and they understand us and listen to us. We’ll see. They’ll have very little time to undo what has been done to us in order for us to trust them to go forward.
JerseyGram I kept my Dem registration, but I am Tea Party and will vote Rep. Obama has so damaged the Democratic party I think the only way to reform the Dems is to vote all/or as many as possible-out. They can clean up their act when they become small and out of power. I have never seen such a power crazy anti-American people in my life. Nothing Obama does is for the good of the country or the people. For him I think it’s all about being on TV. He’s like the worlds worst talk show host. Boring, ignorant, rude-really stupid-did you notice he never says anything of substance ever and I love when he struggles to find a ten dollar word (in order to appear educated) but he always reverts to South Side street talk.
Michelle,
Obama is one of the most brazen frauds to ever find his way to a teleprompter! He jumped the shark on honesty and trustworthiness before he even took the oath of office. His reverting to Chicago street language is just another affect to be used when he wants to be seen as “man of the people”. He’s just one big walking personality disorder.
What I dislike most of all is his clipped words: “We’re goin’ t’ do this” or “He’s not bein’ straight with us.” You almost want to say Hey! There are 26 letters in the damn alphabet. Try using all of them!! Maybe I’d find it more tolerable if I knew he had a good heart and was honestly trying hard to provide good leadership for ALL Americans…. Nah. It would still drive me whacky! Haha.
I agree with you that we must vote them all out this time. They need to know we’re serious and those lucky enough to be coming up behind them need to respect and fear our votes.
I don’t believe in violence but this election will be our silent revolution. I will harrangue my family, friends, and neighbors to get out to vote. I will drive them there. I will not allow them to “forget” or “not feel like it” and will pick up absentee ballots for those who need them, witness them, and bring them back to town hall.
I’m soooo looking forward to November.
I disagree with the idea that “The radical neocons hijacked the Republican party”. The spineless, moderate, country club republicans hijacked the Republican party. Over the past decade, a lot of power and money from radical sources found a home in the democrat party. Democrats constantly attacked Republican by calling them “extreme”. instead of fighting back, the IDIOT republicans kept on compromising to “get along”. The Dems kept going further to the extreme left and the A-hole repubs never challenged them. The perception of being extreme stuck even though in reality it was the exact opposite.
Truth!!!
That is what I saw over the years too. I miss Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neil and Daniel Moynahan. They knew how to get things done, without hurting each other and they ended the week with cocktails in the Oval Office.
I’ve been saying this for a long time the party of tolerance and acceptance is neither tolerant nor accepting when it doesn’t agree with them! Hypocrites!
I say the same thing to my low information friend (who is a unionized teacher), and she just looks at me with a blank stare.
The rules don’t seem to apply to them, funny thing is they make up the rules as they go along! At least some of us are still normal!
The “intolerant tolerant” is what I call them. I used to cow to them and be intimidated by the PC and “intolerant” labels they would pin on me. I see through it now and mock them openly for the hipocracy.
I also openly tell people my beliefs pretty soon after they get to know me, and some (gay couple who moved in nearby) are shocked that I could be such a nice person, so accepting of them, and (gasp) a conservative Catholic.
I say, “I’m one of the tolerant intolerant. Welcome to the neighborhood!”
I love it! I do the same thing now, I’m pretty open about my conservative beliefs and I feel I have a right to believe what I want. When people hear that I’m pretty much pro-choice (do whatever you want with your body) and I have no issue with gays wanting to marry (everyone deserves love and a solid loving relationship) and I love Sarah Palin (she has the right to her opinion also) they get angry because they want to argue with me. Live and let live!
it’s a cruel person that gets entertainment at the expense of a young child with developmental disabilities that can’t defend himself. Palin Derangment syndrome has gone so overboard.
These are the same people that would find it funny for a defensless animal to be tortured. What do you expect from lowlifes?
Dem Be Gone -in history there was a group who thought like this, they were called Nazis. No torture so great that they would not commit it. This is how their insanity starts out, and then it continues to graduate until you have Hitlers Concentration Camps.
That’s why we have a Second Amendment.
They try to haul ME off for some “re-education” a la Bill Ayers and his f**king Weather Underground plans, they will get introduced to Mssrs. Smith and Wesson in very short order.
By the way, I’m a hetero pro-lifer and a Tammy Bruce fan.
Seriously. Just how low do you have to be?
for libersla nad leftist, there is no “bottom of the barrel” to low for them.
These people weep for a cut down tree. They campaign to save a pig from slaughter.
But they will throw rocks at a handicapped baby and celebrate aborting an infant. And I also recommend checking out the crap being thrown at Julianna Wetmore also. Her mother said “there is a not of negative out there towards her” and I couldn’t believe it until I saw it.
They are monsters. Insane, human hating monsters.
I had never heard of her before so I googled her name.
Oh my word, that poor little girl. The HATE websites out there on her are awful! How could HUMAN BEINGS treat other human beings that way?
I feel the need to take a shower now. Disgusting.
i really think i could vomit now. that so much hatred could be directed toward an absolute innocent?
I googled julianna too, but I didn’t see any hateful sites.
I’m glad I didn’t because I would be enraged.
What a courageous little girl. God bless her and her family.
I watched this on O’Reilly last night, and, sadly, I was not surprised at the results. As can be observed by reading about the Boyz experiences, as well as the consistent trashing of Sarah Palin and anyone else who doesn’t fall into step with the far left beliefs, the “party of compassion” is now the “party of NO compassion.”
I just can’t watch this…I will get too upset. I certainly hope those compassionate and tolerant democrats will wake up and realize what has happened to their party. They’ve been totally taken over by a group of the most despicable people in the world.
I’m an Indie (as of May 08)
I can assure you I WON’T be voting for a DONKEY any time soon unless her name is Sarah Palin and I believe pigs would fly before she would ever change.
The D party is now the party of LIES and THEFT and ARROGANT INCOMPETENCE!! (wow sounds sooooo similar to …… ) no I won’t go there. It’s just so obvious. Here’s the new boss, same as the old boss. Whoooooooooo R U?
a fellow recovering democrat (as of May 31th, 2008), I will not be voting a democrat at any government level for a very very very very very very long time.
(I will not forget what they did to Hillary in the dem primaries in 2008, and I will NEVER forget that damage the Marxist Messaih in inflicting on America and Americans in the past 2 years, and not ONE freaking democrat stood up against this lunancy!)
I will not forget these disgusting America-loathing lunatics who have taken over the undemocratic party and kicked out moderate/conservative democrats like me.
Independent voter now all the way!
and heck yea, I will vote and campaign for Palin!
I was done May 31, 2008 also…for exactly the same reasons. Well said.
I attended a great Tea Party in Dallas today. …charged up.
Did you just love the Who at the Superbowl half time ending with Won’t Get Fooled Again?!! I wondered if they would even do it, and was so happy they did.
I remember the concert held after September 11th for the first responders. They performed that song and Every cop and fireman was pumping his fist in the air and knew every word, singing along.
I watched that with my mouth sort of hanging open. I came in just at the end~~because I’m definitely not “hip” even in the most general sense of the word. So I always make it a point to skip the halftime show….thus I saw just that last number. I was stunned, in a sort of delerious way (since I don’t like rockin’ music!!!)….and kept listening to the words and thinking, “This can’t be for real.” I’m tickled to find out from you guys that it apparently was. Wow.
YAHOOO! I didn’t see the SuperBowl, but I’m so happy to hear they did that song. On XM satellite radio, one of my favorite channels is “The Coffeehouse” (all acoustic). There’s this wonderful acoustic-guitar live solo version of Pete Townshend singing that song. Whoowee, it really gets me going every time I hear it. And it seems like they play it a lot! (hmmm…..)
Time for yet another “I told you so” dance?! Loving when the truth comes out. Dems like baby killing. They refuse to see that abortion is not healthcare. If you haven’t watched an abortion or read about it you should not be making statements about “choice”. An apparently transparent word meaning, one choice death. Every person has right’s, not just the ones the Dems choose to allow to be. The choice comes before the baby was made.
see this is why I will never be a republican, stop bring pro-life into it, and making that the main thrust of opposition for Rationcare.
Most of us here at Hillbuzz were moderate democrats , and now independents, stop telling us we will go to hell for not thinking like you or our opinions is worth less b/c we don’t think along the same lines.
As soon as someone tells me if I don’t think like them on social issues, I am wrong and will be punished in heavean (or something along those lines), so really what is the difference with the radical lunatics? (in terms of the intolernace of dissent)
We agree on so much, fiscal issues, national security issues, judicial issues, personal responsibility issues, but as soon as someone TELLS me I have to think like them on social issues or I will go to hell, I refuse to listen to them anymore.
And this is exaclty what the democrats pounce on! and then scare people into voting for them.
And they have been doing this scare tactics for years and years.
If the conservatives really wanted to get all the Independent / moderate dem voters all they have to do is yes express their view on abortion, etc, but don’t tell people if they don’t think exactly like them, they are wrong.
Convince them, but not berate them!
I never ever get the sense Sarah would lecture down to me, she convinces me of her social views by telling me she understands another point of view, but she would never like a ton of bricks, say follow my view or else!
If the Tea Party movement makes social issues their main thrust they will lose a lot of independents/dems like me. I have been to tea party events, there were some very kind and nice pro-lifers there, they knew I didn’t agree with them on everything, so we focused on what we did agree on, and that brought us to join forces to stop the Marxist fraud.
Social issues are not that important to most independents, most I know are social centerists/moderates.
and by social moderate, most moderate dems/independents I do believe like Hillary said that abortion should be kept safe, legal and rare.
I strongly believe in state’s rights, and the 10th amendent, if certain states want to severely restrict it, I have no issues with it, the federal govt needs to restrict the way extreme items like late term, etc.
I just don’t like intolerance of dissent with social issues. I see the pro-lifers view on this issue, and 100% agree that no federal funds should ever be used for funding of abor. b/c there are millions who believe that life starts at conception, but millions like me do not, as Hillary said, and I agree with her, the potential for life is there.
(and this is where social moderates come in, we don’t belive in things like born alive act )
In terms of abor., there are families who have to make this very painful decision, and that is why I don’t think abor. should be outlawed.
and the thing is, there are so much common grd when it comes to social issues, so instead on berating people for not thinking the way EXACTLY as they do, I just never like the intolerance of dissent when it comes to social issues, convince them thru example.
When it comes to all these other issues, like fiscal, national security, indiv rights etc, there is soooo much agreement b/e indies, and moderates and conservatives.
why let the main focus on social issues that liberals use as wedge issues? yes, there are disagreements, but use exmaples like sarah does to convince people of your view, by example, not by lecturing and saying my opinion is worth more than another persons.
case in point, by listening to sarah palin and seeing her with little cutie Trig, I see her pro-life views and agree with her much more than I ever would have a few years ago.
See, she didn’t lecture me, and say I’m a bad person for not thinking like her, she just convinced me through how she lives her life.
She made me see her pro-life ways much more convincingly b/c of how she lives her life, and that is much more powerful than any ad on any media source.
ssmith, I live in the South, in a VERY conservative area. Trust me on this…. Social Cons. can be/are hypocrites. I know many who have had abortions.
If Social Cons were honest, the truth is that they believe in choice. Abortion is an ugly issue, and those who wish to divide us will always choose the most difficult issues to divide us.
When it comes down to it most people are pro-choice. It’s personal, and it can be a difficult choice.
For those who believe in their relationship with God, leave it there. Leave the rest of us out of it.
I understand your frustration, ssmith. When I was a Democrat, I never let anyone preach to me about anything. Whether it came from the elitist left or the rigid right, I was always feeling that politicians and sometimes family members were trying to pull me back and forth and manipulate me through fear, judgment, and/or come at me with condescending language.
My father taught me the way. He called himself a “Scoop Jackson” Democrat and voted Line A all the way all of his life…until 1972. He voted for Nixon in 1968 and in 1972. The country was in chaos and he wanted it stopped. He never voted for an R but couldn’t pull the lever for Humphrey or McGovern, who he felt were both weak and being manipulated themselves and were too far to the left to fix the problems.
So I’ve always voted “the man” instead of the party ever since. And now the far left has kidnapped the D party. They’ve been planning it for decades and they are now in control. They aren’t going to give up easily.
We are all going to have to agree to disagree as it applies to social issues if we want this country’s economic system to survive. And if it doesn’t, it won’t matter which side of the abortion issue we held.
JerseyGram:
Thank you!
I so agree with you.
This country is in deep deep trouble. The country is insolvent, nutjob people in congress are trying to pass laws that prosecute CIA officers.
conservatives, independents, disallusioned moderate/conservative democrats have to come together to kick out all these marxist america-loathing fools!
Yes, we disagree with each other on some social issues, but we all have SOOOOOOO much more in common than than we have in disagreements.
AN expressed an opinion and answered the question raised in the title of this post. Accusing AN of “lecturing” you or pro-choicers is projection. The democrats are cruel and HATE Trig because they believe he should have been killed before he was born or hidden away in shame. Since Palin chose to do neither, Trig is used to prove that she is stupid. The sight of Trig enrages democrats because if he has a happy life that undermines their arguments for abortion.
Now, you may disagree with the pro-life position and that’s fine. But, you have no right to tell AN or any other pro-lifer to shut up or that their position is illegitimate or that adhering to their principals will fracture the coalition. We get enough of that from Jughead who regularly engages in the democrats’ favorite dirty tricks i.e. all opinions are legitimate (we have to listen to peta-freaks, vegitarians, atheists, space aliens) except for opinions by social conservatives or any argument based on Judeo/Christian values or are a social conservative then they start screeching that you are judgmental or lecturing or whatever.
So, as a social conservative, Jesus-Freak, I will say whatever I want, whenever I please.
I’m with you, ssmith, and in most respects I’m very conservative. As much as I respect the social conservative’s POV, they need to stop banging on about these issues.
This country is heading down a path that will leave social cons and liberals longing for the day that they could simply scream about abortion rights or non-rights. It’s a wedge issue, and nothing is going to change. The only reason to scream about abortion is to evade the critical event which is our insolvency.
The USA is not far behind Greece and other EU countries in facing insolvency. THAT is the issue of the day. Unlike Greece, Spain, Portugal and possibly Ireland, the USA has no one to bail them out.
If we fail, it is a failure of epic proportions that will not only affect our lives domestically. It will have geo-political ramifications. If anyone thinks the recent meltdown was bad, just watch this one.
Frankly, I don’t give a rat’s ass about Europe any longer. I’ve lived through the years when Yanks thought it was our duty to protect Europe from itself. But Europe has never been able to function without wars and bloodshed. Screw the bastards. We’ve paid enough.
Our job now is to unite as Americans, INSIST that Congress in 2010 make the necessary reforms to reign in spending (by voting most of the assholes out), neutralize Dr. Utopia (send him on a vacation for the rest of his term), and get back to taking care of our own business.
Got off on a rant, but don’t let the social cons turn you away from those of the other party who are working to get back on the right track.
Did Adell Nuelander mention anything at all about religion? Because I don’t see it…
No, but apparently if you are pro-life, then you must be a right-wing religious nut who goes around lecturing people and being judgmental. Social conservatives should be seen and not heard. You should never express your opinion because you will destroy the “coalition” or something. “Sensitive” people feel free to insert all kinds of things that aren’t there. I guess it’s like a dog whistle and only “smart, sensitive lib-types” can hear or see it.
yes, you are correct they never did, I guess I did jump to the same line the DNC uses
i have to say that i agree with many of the positions taken here by the majority of posters. however, i have been and will always be pro-choice, as i believe government should have no say in the privacy of individual decisions.
i think that the tea partiers, sarah palin et al. have consistently said to leave social and cultural views out of the movement. i think this is a very good idea.
Yes, in reality the matter of abortion has always been about choice. Safe or not. Sanctioned or not.
As much as I dislike this discussion it *is* actually one of the most important about one’s choice to to ~~anything.“
In the end, people will do what they believe they must do, regardless of any government mandates. People will always find ways to circumvent government regulations – even those who have imposed the rules!
Leave people alone. Let them be. We can sort things out. Give then a little time, and they will.
Yes, the teapartiers are better served by sticking to fiscal issues, which is where this all started for them.
I am a huge Hillary supporter, and then happily voted for Sarah, and will again if given the chance. I can see both of their points of view on certain issues. I have never once heard Sarah speak ill of people who believe in a womans right to choose.
jerseyjill,
the issue of choice should be a two way street. However, what I see is that places like Planned Parenthood only have one goal, and that is to ensure an abortion takes place.
Someone else said it very well, that the choices are made prior to conception.
In the very rare cases where abortion is required, this should be done in a safe environment…. and that does not necessarily mean one of the abortion mills that had been run by Tiller and his cronies.
A lot of what now happens is rather disgusting.
On the other hand, if a woman has been raped and she has a D & C immediately after she has notified the rape then that is ok. However, where the accusation is made a long time after the event….
I am of the opinion that many of the current tests are unnecessary for pregnant women, especially amniocentesis. I am also very much against the pressure that is put upon women who have a multiple pregnancy.
Children with special needs include not only Downs, but also Spina Bifida, blindness, deafness, heart issues etc. These children should not be put to death. They have a time and a place for living. Even if that time is short they deserve that time.
The LSM does not talk about the grief of those women who went ahead with an abortion. A lot of them are left grief-stricken and they need healing.
The LSM also hides many other facts about what abortion can do to a woman’s body. It disrupts the hormone cycle, and can in some cases even trigger breast cancer…. this can happen even where it is a miscarriage and not a procured abortion. Abortion can also damage a woman’s internal plumbing – some young women come to regret their action when they cannot fall pregnant again.
There are many reasons for speaking out, not on religious grounds, but because abortions do in fact harm the majority of women who have them.
I am always open to those who need to have one for true medical reasons such as ectopic pregnancy. That is a medical emergency. There are other medical emergencies as well. It is case by case…. but the hospital should be the only place for such emergencies.
I am also totally against the use of RU-486 because of its very toxic and harmful effects.
However, my views on abortion have nothing to do with my other political views. I just continue to hope that one day more women will wake up to the fact that they have been used by the abortion industry.
My view is that all these sort of questions are matters for the state legislatures — not for the courts at whatever level, and above all not for the critters on Capitol Hill, of whatever party they may be.
That would require state legislators actually to legislate. What an idea.
And touching on the adjacent set of issues pertaining to public education — that is something for the state to deal with — preferably at the municipal level. I’ve more than half a mind that the Department of Education in D.C. ought simply to be abolished in 2013.
Sorry, meant to type, “for the states to deal with” …
I might be an outsider, but I agree – all of these are states right issues.
In your country education is at an even lower level – the county or whatever you call it e.g. Fairborn OH was responsible for the schools, and charged parents taxes. In Australia it is done at the state level.
So yes, there is no need for D.C. to have an education dept, and there is no need for a POTUS to micromanage children and their education.
This Demobrat hate is one of the main reasons why I want change to come to the Demobrat party as I can’t be comfortably associated with them anymore because it shows a value system that goes against what I believe. I apologize in advance if what I am about to write here bothers some of you, but it’s not being written to be mean-spirited. The GOP has become known as a party of family values, and although that idea used to “get my goat” as a Democrat who felt insulted that characterizations or categorizations of people could be so easily justified, I now tend to agree with them. They do seem to be the party that is most concerned about family from what I understand about their abortion platform all the way through Obamascare’s death panels. I believe that one can make a pretty good determination about someone based on how a particular person stands up for the weakest members in society, or for those who cannot stand up for themselves. When a party, such as the Demobrat party, prides itself on being the protecter of women’s abortion rights, but they fail miserably as the protecter of the unborn fetus’ right to life, I don’t find that something to be proud about. It’s a moral issue, yet I am not blind to why a female would choose abortion. I just wish there were far, far fewer of them.
Actually, I view abortion as murder.
i don’t.
and that is the kind of statement that will split this coalition.
Pro-life people, like myself, don’t mean to be preachy. Really. But when you honestly think a life is being taken every time one is performed, it’s hard to keep your mouth shut. I could go on as to why I think abortion has been bad for women (hit-and-run, no accountability culture that dehumanizes women in my opinion) but ultimately it’s about the life that’s been taken. Hard to look past that. I’m not sure that pro-life people will ever be able to just shut-up on this topic. It feels evil to look the other way.
Great. So nomobama should just change his or her view to agree with yours and everything is good?
If you, jerseyjill have the right to your opinion, then why can’t nomobama have his/her opinion without the threat of expressing said opinion being “the kind of statement that will split this coalition.”
The “coalition” will only work if we work toward common goals while not making everyone have to walk in lock step on every issue, and allowing even those things we disagree with to be discussed.
I will then quietly work with others on other sites toward the common goal (with them) of helping people to see that abortion is killing babies.
If it’s not the killing of a live fetus, then please explain to me what it is. One egg plus one sperm makes one live fetus that depends on the mother’s womb for its very survival.
SQT, it seems evil because it is evil couched as a women’s right, but when it gets down to it, that “right” is a right to kill a live fetus. No wonder so many females who have had an abortion have such sadness after the fact.
jerseyjill, not once did I write that it should be illegal, even though I find it reprehensible. So, do as you see fit for yourself, but it’s apparent to me that everything is ok as long as you are on board with it. It seems to me that your set reaction to my belief tells people more about intolerance
of other points of view than my original comment. I overlooked the abortion issue for years as I voted Democrat. How many times have you done so as far as voting with those who might actually have a fundamental difference in views? Bullying attitudes are what will harm the tea party movement, and bullying is the forte of leftists.
Nomobama is entitled to his or her opinion and is free to express it. If working with pro-lifers offends your sensibilities, that’s your problem. Don’t force your beliefs onto us and the coalition will be just fine.
I agree with Nobama on this issue. It is murder of the fetus.
i just came back online and will reply to you, nomobama.
i don’t care what your views on abortion are..what i do mind is someone saying that my support of choice is akin to supporting murder.
as it happens, i voted for reagan in 1980, so i do know what it’s like “to vote for someone with a fundamental difference in view.”
my comment about creating a rift in this coalition has been voiced by others in leadership positions, including sarah palin at the conservative conference. we cannot afford to be distracted by competing social issues. that is a major turn-off for me, and i suspect others.
if you want to continue down this road, so be it. but i think it would be a mistake as it could drive a wedge between those who are slightly left of center and those who are slightly right.
I have no control over how you feel about something. Yes, I equate abortion with the killing of a fetus. A human fetus is alive, albeit dependent on the mother. Since the fetus is actually killed, then that is murder in my opinion. I’m sorry if that offends you.
I understand your comments about a riff, but regardless, ignoring it does not mean that it will disappear.
I have had different opinions on abortion in my lifetime. I fell for the pro-abortion propaganda when I was younger. It’s not like my current abortion stance came out of thin air, and I don’t forsee a change in it ever again.
I agree that social issues will cause strains in any organization. Frankly, I don’t see abortion ever becoming illegal, but I do see the Demobrat party using that issue year after year to ensure that many females and males continue to vote for them as if that is their most important advantage in an election.
I have to wonder though about your social issues comment. It seems to me that besides addressing economic issues, the other main issues that politics addresses are social issues.
Finally, I noticed that you avoided the question with regards to if a fetus is alive. Is a person not killing something alive through abortion?
I know that you don’t support Obama from your presence on the bitterpoliticz blog, and I’m sure you know that I don’t either. His abortion stance is one of many that I have a problem with. Again, I have no control over your reactions to a politician’s stance on an issue, nor to my opinions. Only you can weigh what is most important to you, and then make your voting decisions based on that. I believe though that social issues go hand in hand with government, and therefore these issues will always present themselves in the political arena. People can’t hide from them, although they can be downplayed somewhat.
Barack Obama claims “I found Christ” he says it in both of his books. What kind of Christain is he?
http://usataxpayer.org/view.asp?Get=obamamuslim.asp&Raw=Obama%20Mocks%20Jesus%20Christ%20And%20The%20Bible%20Hi-V_ilJu0w.flv
No kind. He only calls himself a Christian when it suits his short range purposes. Him calling himself a Christian would be like me claiming to be a Muslim if I had a vehicle breakdown on the mean streets of Detroit, MI on the “wrong side of the line”. (There was an article around about 10 days that described the reality in Detroit these–LEO’s are coming fairly close there to having to deal with no-go zones like the LEO’s in Great Britain do…because of Muslim enclaves where the Muslims rule, and do not want any nonMuslims coming in, not even law enforcement.
Don’t waste time trying to understand obama’s version of “being a Christian”. Think of his claim to being a Christian as being parallel to his claim of being an American. (And I’m talking about his heart and mindset–not his paperwork.)
Just like he’s going to give 95% of Americans a tax break… when it suits his purposes to say so.
Or work with the Republicans on health care…
Or hold people accountable…
Or not use a mandate…
Or be fiscally responsible…
Choose anything he says. It’s as big a lie as “I consider myself a Christian.” Just remember this, he means it: In that moment, for that second, intended for whomever he happens to be talking to, to get what he wants.
Everything he says comes with an expiration date of the next second, or even ten seconds before.
In the immortal words of Joe Wilson:
YOU LIE!
The “Liberation Theology” that Obama believes in is a mixture of Marxism and Christianity. So of course when he found a socialist version of religion, a light went off in his little red head.
Jughead is a sociopath and has no core beliefs. As a Hawaiian, prep school brat, he joined that church to get street cred. As a politician, he threw them under the bus to cover his butt.
It’s not so much the anger as the condescension that will take the Dems down. Did anyone else notice that when independents voted for Obama, they were subtle and nuanced thinker, but when they turned away from him, they were stupid and just needed Obama to speak more slowly?
Condescension is at the heart of it. It’s not borne of concern, it comes from a deep anger and bewilderment at the fact that anyone could disagree with them. I see him losing the independents, as well as the Republicans who defected last time, and even some Democrats who just can’t stand them any more.
So true Lisette. You said so much in such a few words.
Elitist are like that. If you think they are the smartest in the room, you are smart. If you don’t, then you’re too stupid to know any better.
I was a far-left radical back in the ’80s (although kind of a freaky one because I was always pro-life; had MANY heated discussions with my fellow rads). Anyhow, having been there, here’s my take on their mindset–tho I can only speak for myself and the people I was hanging with.
We sincerely believed that what we were pushing was THE truth, the one and only truth, the 100 percent correct truth. Anybody who disagreed with us was to be pitied as ignorant, uninformed, prejudiced, clueless, selfish, narrow-minded or unintelligent. The possibility that “the other side” might actually be right on an issue simply didn’t exist. We KNEW we were right; our opponents only THOUGHT they were right–and they were obviously misguided/mistaken/stupid/evil.
This is why I am so worried about what’s happening now–how little hope I am holding out of actually changing these people’s minds or getting them to even listen to us. I know from my own experience: They simply DO NOT HEAR US. They are as convinced that they are right about everything as I am that the sun rises in the east.
So, to borrow the old saying, what happens when the irresistible force meets the immovable object? (although, I can only HOPE that “irresistible” is what we are!)
You will never change their “minds” about health care “reform” or any of their agenda, including usurping the energy industry as well as the health care industry, the finance and banking industries, and the auto industries.
They think they are smarter than all of us and therefore need to take CONTROL of all the industries so that the profits will be distributed “fairly”. It’s called economic justice and you will hear it from every leftist from Karl Marx forward to this very day.
The ideologues believe that they are not doing anything wrong because they believe they are right! About everything. So if a little freedom or liberties have to be “adjusted” or our “minds” have to be changed on the matter, it’s no big deal.
This gang in DC is going to shove that “reform” of health care down our throats and soon. They believe that there are 9 months between now and election day and that they are so brilliant that they will be able to convince the majority that what they did was “fair” and “right” for the country. They will accuse conservatives and republicans of being mean spirited, selfish, and disingenuous, not to mention stupid. The gong has rung, the blade has hit the ground. Pelosi and Reid have declared war and they believe they have all the ammunition. Ah, but they don’t. We have our votes. We’ve battled them in VA, NJ, and Mass – winning every battle. We have done that in coalitions of people who never got involved in politics and don’t agree on everything. We all agree they must go.
Until we can get them out of office, we must agree to disagree on the social issues and try not to hurt each other or divide each other with words. Everyone is covered under the First Amendment and has every right to state their beliefs anywhere they feel is appropriate. That’s one of the rights we are fighting this Administration and this majority in Congress for. If we devolve into infighting amongst this or any coalition over social issues, the main focus will be ignored, as the passion will be diluted.
Eyes on the prize. Got to keep our eyes on the prize. If we don’t stop this gang from hijacking our health care, our energy, our banks et al, we will never come up for air with the taxes, fear of losing jobs, fear of losing homes, fear of losing our kids’ college fund, fear of losing the little savings for retirement we have left and they will control every aspect of our lives. The social issues won’t matter if we are fearing our next paycheck or meal. That is what they count on. Remember Rahm’s battle cry: “We don’t want to waste a crisis”.
Amazing that anyone who professes to be so fucking “enlightened” would tolerate the belittling of a whole class of challenged people for the sake of a cheap political laugh. That little guy is a BABY!
This makes me wonder if that’s why so many RINO’s have started coming out. They’ve just been beat down so long by the left that they start to swing that way to keep from being attacked? We need to let them know we love and support them (snicker) so they stay on OUR side. Or we’ll beat them down faster than a democrat can say entitlement.
Pick up the book “Liberal Fascism” by Jonah Goldberg to learn about the trajectory of the Leninist movement. Teddy Roosevelt put his toe in the water, then Woodrow Wilson grabbed the ball and ran. Many of the people surrounding FDR were retreads from the Wilson administration. Truman tried to take over the steel companies [shot down by SCOTUS], then LBJ and the Great Society. Clinton got sidetracked with scandals, and Obama doesn’t care how many seats are lost by the dems. Those losers will just get ambassadorships or consultant jobs when out of office.
I just finished that book about a week ago. I wish I could make it required reading in every American high school and college!!! WOW. It’s very empowering to reclaim all this history we were either never taught, or that was misrepresented to us.
It is a seminal book. Extremely, vitally important. It’s substantial and meaty–it sure can’t be read in an evening or two–but it is well, well worth the investment of your time. I HEARTILY recommend it.
Midway through the book I happened to visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington for the first time. Spent several hours in a temporary exhibit on Nazi propaganda, starting in 1918. The parallels were EXTREMELY disturbing. I figure we’re in the equivalent of about 1933-34. Watch out, folks.
Two things keep me from being totally terrified:
1) We the People have GUNS to defend ourselves.
2) Hitler didn’t use a TelePrompTer!!
Hitler passed legislation legally to take away the guns. As a matter of fact, all the dictators did. It was the only way they could be sure the public could not fight back.
I keep hearing about Goldberg’s book– just bought a copy online.
going and making fun of a defensless little baby or in this case making fun of a special needs person,
(or making disgusting sexist jokes against Sarah, Hillary)
the people who find this funny, I have no words for these heartless lunatics, and this is now the face of the undemocratic party
Hats off to the HB Boyz! They are spot-on with this. I noticed earlier someone mentioned the 60′s. Yes, this was spawned by MY generation: the boomers…. the 60′s generation. The “if it feels good, do it” generation; the “me first” generation. I blame a lot of the decline of America on my generation.
Boyz, you are seeing the truth. If someone had asked you that, say, 5 years ago, what would your response have been? I only wish the rest of the Hillary supporters were as enlightened as you. Even though I am not a registered republican (I am not a registered ANYTHING), because I voted republican in the past elections I was “branded” as a terrible terrible person in PumaPac and was kicked out of the group. I tried rejoining under another name but was kicked out again. I posted pretty much the same kinds of things I post here, but because I am considered “one of THEM” (a dreaded REPUBLICAN) I was branded and exiled. After awhile I’d go back in just to read (since I can’t post there), and when I read the posts in there with the usual liberal “all R’s are terrible” “I will NEVER vote R” “we’re going to vote for a woman first no matter who (even Pelosi)”… well… I see now that they have that same demented mind-set that so many of the dems have gotten. It’s almost like being brainwashed so that they can’t think for themselves and SEE clearly- but just spout what they’ve heard from the MSM and the dems for years!
One more thought here. I agree completely with your statements about the D party. I think, though, that it goes even beyond what you are saying. When you talk about refusing to call terrorists terrorists, giving Miranda rights to terrorists, wanting to prosecute CIA members who protected us in the past, don’t give a rat’s a** about the constitution or what “we the people” really want… it goes beyond lack of compassion to that of being dangerous and… yes, I’m going to say it here… Anti American. I think I heard GWB say at one point that those who are not for us in this fight against the terrorists are against us. I think the current dem party is out to destroy America from within. It’s going to take away our constitution, take away our protections, take away everything that made America special and good and wonderful. I will go so far as to say that the current dem leadership is… IMHO… traitors to America and American freedoms.
The democrat party that I liked was that of JFK. Did you notice that Brown played tapes of things JFK said that sound a lot like the R’s of today? The dems of JFK’s day were more like the R’s today; the dems today are more like… well, there is nothing in American history to compare with them except maybe Tory’s…. siding with “the enemy” and against this great country.
I’m trying to type this in the car in between appointments and am having some trouble, so hope it goes through ok.
“it goes beyond lack of compassion to that of being dangerous and… yes, I’m going to say it here… Anti American. ”
as a recovering democrat pushed out by the undemocratic party, and am now an Independent, I 100% agree with you.
who are these lunatics in our govt who would put a provision into a bill that sentences CIA officers, who put their lives on the line for America, for 15 years???
seriosuly, who are these America-loathing fools in our govt?
this was frightening to hear, who’s side are these fools on? they want to prosecute people who want to protect America and Americans????
and they are in our govt??!?!?!?!
“who’s side are these fools on?”
Our enemies’ side.
I know a leftist who cheers for captive animals at a zoo or seaworld etc. to hurt or kill their human owners/captors.
I know a Republican who laughs at the story of a woman unable to afford to buy her own dentures. She wears her dead sister’s.
I know a leftist that believes an nonsense that comes along, no matter how absurd and defends it with more nonsense
All I know is that I’m so glad I’m not you.
I know a troll who…
Medicare pays for dentures, next?
You are the party of stupid!
no medicare doesn’t pay for dentures, except under 4 EXTREME medical circumstances which are incredibly rare in the entire population. At $5000 + bucks for dentures, it won’t be paid for under Obamacare either.
That’s what makes the idiotic rep. that had the story of her sisters dentures so nutsycookoo
MediCAID pays for dentures.
Obamacare will not cover dentures. I don’t understand why this issue has come into the health care debate. Except as a way to pander to people’s sympathies. Who exactly is this Republican of which you speak. I don’t know Republicans like that. And I doubt that you do…
Wellll, I know there was at least one right-wing talk-radio person I heard who laughed at that. I changed the channel.
Do you even realize how insanely laughable the whole Denture Drama is??? Bye troll.
There were a lot of people laughing at that story.
Obamacare wouldn’t help that woman get new dentures passed or not.
THAT is funny.
Come on guys, let’s not get heartless like the damn lefties. It IS a tragic story. The fact that no insurance plan, private or government-run, would pay for dentures, should not prevent us from feeling compassion for the poor woman.
I agree with all here that Rep. Slaughter was either being manipulative or is totally clueless about how insurance works, to bring up that story. Hell, maybe she just likes the sound of her own voice (if so, she sure wouldn’t be the first politician who did). But I think it would be tacky for any of us to belittle the suffering of that woman.
They are not laughing at the lady. What is funny is that the troll and the politician are using the issue and it is not even a part of the legislation being discussed. Kind of a Three Stooges moment. Nothing against the lady.
Ah, but will dentistry be the new frontier as far as healthcare is concerned? I’ve spent thousands of dollars in the past 6 years on dental care. It’s not cheap, that’s for sure. I wonder if the Demobrats will take on the dental industry in the future. I am not advocating this, by the way… just wondering.
Can anyone here let me out of the “waiting for approval” box?
TIA
During the ’50′s and ’60′s, many tests were done by psychologists who were trying to understand violence and cruelty as it applied to group think after WWII and the Holocaust. Why would someone do something that went against the morals of humanity? The results of their experiments horrified them. People could be manipulated into committing violence against another human being [not really - the "victims" were actors] for many reasons, including peer pressure.
The most famous was the one where a subject could be convinced to electrically shock the “victim” for his own good. Or if the experiment leader and others in the room would humiliate the subject by laughing or berating/goading him into shocking the “victim”. Peer pressure!! We are seeing it in high schools today. We are seeing it in gang behavior on the streets. We are watching it on TV 24/7 if we want to.
We are being desensitized to violence, let alone cruelty.
But why did the D’s alone not respond well to that video? I think it’s the smash mouth politics against Sarah Palin. The Alinsky method has worked with her. The elites have successfully made her a non-person. So she and her children [who the left has successfully deemed as "props"] are fair game for ridicule. They don’t think of her as human. She’s a cartoon to them and most D voters think that it’s not shameful to laugh at anything “Palin” – even a joke about a disability that afflicts her son, a baby.
not as much as you think, b/c these same nuts tried that with Hillary first, so millions of people have seen it first against Hillary and then against Sarah.
We didn’t tolerate it against Hillary, and so we sure didn’t tolerate it against Sarah.
What you are witnessing in the isolatation of the rabid lunatic radical Obots.
I pray you are right about the Obots being isolated. It’s way past time. We are slow to awaken. I think that’s because we’re all trying to live normal lives – working, housework, chid care, whatever and yet this group in DC is not letting us. Every day there is a new assault on the citizens.
This video has gone viral. I received it 3 times today. Once from someone I wouldn’t have thought cared about something like this. Good.
That’s child care – not chid care!!
Mature, clear-thinking Americans see through the liberal’s hateful rhetoric. Obama is still bleeding supporters. This sort of mean-spirited hate only hastens the process.
Thanks for this post. i agree. They are incredibly mean, they do seek to destroy, and as a rule they go immediately for sexual denigration – the C-word, oh you’re obsessed because you want to sleep with him… accusations of racism is a close second, followed by the knuckledragging inbred hillbillies insults. I haven’t figured out how to fight it other than just to stay on my own message, stick to my guns and know that each and every time, they are wrong. It’s just scary that they have managed to garner so much power, and that they do it by costuming their true intent in lovely flowery rhetoric.
I’d add that – and I don’t know how to say it – these are not the dems like my parents are, or many of my friends are – these are not the good and decent people by and large, but the poison spread by the virulent side of the Democratic/”progressive” party and the Katie Courics have even influenced even them, and I fear they would show that same curve when the topic is Palin.
How do you get people who live a good life, have raised four kids, always been self sufficient, who hunt and fish – how do you get good people to do that?
More importantly – what can we do?
Imagine a million people switching their affilliation to Republican in a couple of short weeks.
I wonder if that would catch their attention.
millions have made the switch but not “officially” on their voter registration. What do you think happened to all those “Democrats for McCain/Palin voters?
Curious isn’t it, that patricular thing has NEVER been mentioned since the election? We all know what happened to them, they crossed over and never went back. The other side knows it too
This is was I posted in the other thread where the clip from O’Reilly was first posted.
“I had not seen the first part of the cartoon clip, just the restaurant scene. I think that was the most offensive part, Stewie making fun of her looks. Forget the Gov. of Alaska comment (if anything, the Downs Syndrome character was, from what I saw, portrayed as articulate and intelligent). But mocking the other character for thinking she’s special (in a good way) is just plain mean and discriminatory.
And lets get real – if the tables were turned and Edwards lovechild (or Sasha or Malia) had DS and this cartoon was done by conservatives – the liberals and the media would still be screaming about it and most likely the writers and producers fired.”
I would like to say that I have very good friends who are Koolaid drinkers. They are kind and compassionate. What bothers me is that they never speak up when this type of thing is done by their side. I know they don’t agree with it, but they remain silent, and in my opinion – this makes them complicit in the actions of their party.
Like the curiously silent “moderate Muslims”, the silent Obots make themselves irrelevant. They will not stand up for us. They will not stand up for what is right. They will not stand in the way of evil-doers to protect the innocent.
Fear not your enemies, they can only kill you. Fear not your friends, they can only betray you. Fear the indifferent, who allow the killers and betrayers to walk the Earth.–Edward Yashinsky
And they [the Obots] will soon lie about voting for him. Right about mid-November of this year.
It’s already happening. A pollster asked within a poll about approval whether to person being polled voted for Obama. He got 36% to admit they did. Hahaha. Where is the other 21%?
Not only are they indifferent, they are also cowards.
the person – not to person.
I was born and raised in Philly and have a Downs syndrome relative. The Lack of acceptance or tolerance of those who are “special needs”, particularly those who are Downs isn’t surprising. I thought it interesting that a cartoonist would use a Downs person in a show….didn’t think much about it, actually, until I realized his purpose, which was to attack Sarah Palin. It used to be that Downs individuals only lived to about 13, now with better care and with education available, many Downs people can hold jobs, and are productive members of Society, and like my sister in law, live into their 60s. Most are loving, sweet individuals. I don’t watch Family Man…but have pretty much concluded that the cartoonist is a jerk to use that venue to trash Sarah Palin. I began to notice the nastiness and cruelty in Democrats when Al Gore was campaigning..I hadn’t noticed it before. Nor did I ever think that it was a provenance for any particular Party . The more I see of Democratic Politicians, the more disgusted I become. They arrogantly claim THEY are “Humanitarians”, and THEY “Hate War”,suggesting that the rest of us were anti-social war mongers. I hate to say this, but it is good to see others finally recognizing the hypocrisy that has invaded and consumed the Democratic Party.
Joanne, yes they have, they have taken over the undemocratic party, and kicked out most moderates/conservatives.
I frankly never knew lunatics like this were in my former party, I sincerely mean that, I never had a clue these people existed in my former party.
Maybe b/c I didn’t really pay much attention to politics, and so I didn’t know. I feel like I am now completely awake, and completely aware of everything now.
And thankfully with the Internet, I can get my news unfiltered, until 2008, I never had a clue how these MSM are lefties, way lefties, and then and now I do.
Like I say, the democrat brand is done, if they cram this Rationcare, that will essentially be the end of the undemocratic party, for at least a generation.
The far-leftists, like Obama himself, felt the need to conceal their nature and aims. Now that they hold the reins of power they no longer bother. The good news is that we can see them for what they really are.
Yep. And that’s why we have to leave the social issues behind this election cycle and probably the next one too. When we’re all gainfully employed and the banks are solvent and none of us have to worry about losing our homes because we’re being taxed out of them, we can return to the social issues, and like Pennsylvania, we will come to agreements on these issues.
It’s not hard to find hate on the left. It comes in all shapes and sizes and is expressed day in and day out in myriad ways. They always have a way to rationalize, no doubt. Here’s another example: The left joking about rippin gout Cheney’s heart, kicking it around for a bit, then stuffing it back into him. As usual, if one imagines anyone on the right saying such a thing about someone on the left (or anyone for that matter) they’d be skewered by the media.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0210/33588.html
I saw this, this was absolteuly disgusting, I just have no words.
I was no fan of the Darth Vader when he was in office (though now I very much appreciate his dedication to the safety of this country, and would vote to get him back in an instant!)
To treat a person, forget former VP, just another human being this way, I have no words of disgust.
The undemocratic party has no clue that these fools are now the face of the party, and it truely is a disgusting disgusting face.
Yes. That was WAY over the top. Cheney is not as bad as he was made out to be.
I have some theories about this. As a republican who lived in the Bay Area and now NYC (I mean, why would I choose the two most liberal regions of the country!), I’ve had some truly shockingly cruel things said to me purely b/c I believe in limited govt and fiscal conservatism. I also happen not only to believe that we should be self-reliant and personally responsible, but I also believe that when we are allowed to depend on ourselves, we are stronger, more successful, take greater pride in ourselves and our work, and are more likely to make positive contributions to society. And then we are happier people, or at least more likely to be happier.
Which brings me to my theory: I think fear is at the core of liberalism, and love/trust is at the core of conservatism. Liberalism is about control. Conservatism is about self-empowerment.
Control is a reaction to fear. I think in terms or politics and society – the fear behind liberalism is the fear that someone might withhold things (opportunities, money, whatever) from me, fear that if you live your life in a way I dislike that it might affect my life, fear that if you get that job, there will be nothing left for me. Fear that if you make tons of money, it’s means there’s less money out there for me. So these people seek control as a means of trying to create guarantees and safeguards against those circumstances they fear. Liberals try to control the world and people to enable their comfort and happiness. Which, as we know, is an endless quest. Trying to control others does nothing in the way of making oneself happy. By extension, voting in this mindset so that govt can try to control others will also – shocking – not lead to a happier, more comfortable life.
The conservative (and moderate, independent, but for the sake of expediency, the conservative), on the other hand, relies on himself to meet his own needs. And the trade off of being free to live his life as he wishes is also understanding that he has to make peace with how you live yours. By extension, aware that he wants to be able to hold onto this liberty and freedom forever, the conservative votes accordingly, so that everyone can remain free and in charge of his or her own life.
But here’s the crucial difference, I think, particularly in where misery on the left stems: The conservative does not worry, so to speak, about you. The conservative knows that you were born with the same access to self-love, self-empowerment, self-determination and self-reliance that we all were, no matter the circumstances into which you were born. (Think about the millions of people this country has allowed to crawl up from poverty into prosperity – the conservative KNOWS this is possible.) And the conservative believes that if you want prosperity, or a good job, or a good education, you can make it happen – but you have to work hard. The conservative hopes and intends that the free markets bring you all of the affordable and positive opportunities and resources that you need. The conservative also knows that on the other side of that hard work is great reward – material and, more importantly, emotional, spiritual and mental.
The conservative understands that not only is it a waste of time to try to control you, it’s actually impossible. Humans were born to be free. And if we put a roadblock in front of you, you’ll find another way around it. So we see attempts at control as a waste of resources, energy and time at best, and at worst, creating detrimental results that serve to hinder people’s upward mobility or teach dependence. We see much more efficiency, as well as endless opportunity, in leaving you to your own devices. And we want the same in return.
This is where dems mis-view repubs as heartless. But really, the conservative believes that there is one and one path only to sustainable success and independence – and that is self-empowerment. All other avenues – welfare, affirmative action, housing loans you can’t actually afford – ultimately risk doing a disservice to people as they teach dependence on special circumstances, the govt, or arbitrary assistance (that can disappear tomorrow). And the real danger – they will ALWAYS backfire, and leave the recipient in equally or more dire circumstances. Any false improvement will always expire.
The conservative believes in abundance. The liberal believes in scarcity.
The conservative believes man is born free and will be who he is, no matter what arbitrary limitations or rules are put on him. The liberal believes man is perfectible, and by extension, believes a society at large is perfectible, and command and control is justified in the quest to a “perfect” utopian society. (Sounds familiar!)
The conservative tends to be more faithful – and not necessarily in God, but in the ability of the individual to find great strength in himself (or from his God) to get what he needs and to be successful. Therefore the conservative has an outlet for his fear and disappointment – trust and faith in something bigger. The liberal believes the system must be perfected in order to enable success. Therefore disappointment is channeled as anger and blame at the system. Voids are left to be filled by faith in the govt, which they surely then want to come in and “fix” things.
And therein lies the roots of love and fear respectfully. For the conservative, when life presents great struggles, he knows he has the power to surmount them. Happiness stems from internal strength and perseverance. For the liberal, when life presents great struggles, the system failed, therefore they were at the mercy of a faulty system, and they believe that only when the system is fixed can their life improve. Happiness is built on systemic contingencies, which they will then seek to control or expect someone else to.
One blames himself. The other blames anyone and everyone but himself.
And there it is. There’s where the meanness comes from. The liberal ideology causes that person to cast anger at the world when things go wrong or appear “unfair.” He constantly chooses only to see the “injustices” – and that makes for a very miserable, mean, blame-casting existence.
One last point that I have seen over and over and over with many (not all)of my liberal friends: Extreme stinginess and cheapness.
In my conservative community growing up, we were always taught that you give when people are in need – make donations to the Red Cross when there’s an earthquake, donate to charity when you can afford it, etc. Even if it’s just $50 here and there – it’s the right thing to do. Conservatives see this as the responsibility that comes with gaining from the capitalistic system; if you happen to benefit greatly from the system, it’s your duty to give back.
The liberal, on the other hand, does not seem to share this same viewpoint, at least not in my experience. And I think this is linked to believing in scarcity, and that your dollar comes at the cost of mine. So it seems that liberals, on some level of consciousness, feel guilty about not being voluntarily charitable. Therefor, to write off their guilt, they outsource their “generosity” to the govt by voting for wealth redistributive policies (I saw this ALL THE TIME in the Bay Area). Thus, the liberal cheats himself of the joy and addictiveness of direct generosity. (Not to mention – redistributive policies ALWAYS end up dis-empowering those who they’re meant to help.)
In short: Yes, I do think liberals are far more likely to be mean than conservatives. Because their ideology directs their thinking in a very angry, negative way.
wow, I have seen it listed this perfectly before.
I always thought of myself as a liberal, but see the un-DNC lies to people about what exactly conservatism is, and they deceive people on what it means, they define it, misleading people about it.
They use social conservatism to scare people into voting for dems. But I know now I am realising that is not all of conservatism, this is why I truely hope, social issues are not made as a main pillar in the Tea Party movement.
If you explain to people about limited govt, fiscal disciple, strong national security they will aboslutely agree with you, if you yell at people about pro-life, etc, that scares people, not b/c they are necessairly pro-choice, or consider social issues that big of a deal, but they don’t want to be told you are a bad person b/c you don’t think like me.
(and this scare tactic is exactly what dems use to get votes)
like I have stated b-4, independents, and moderate dems tend to be conservative on pretty much all issues, but they are not social conservatives, so while I have no issues of conservatives expressing their social views and saying … yes this is what I believe, thats fine, but again people just don’t want to have other people’s social views forced on them.
If you can convince people of social conservative, fine, but don’t berate them and say you are a bad person if don’t agree with them on their social issues.
b/c you will find there is so much agreement on fiscal issues, indiv. rights issues, national security issues, and that is where the focus should be.
oops.. meant to say
*never seen it as listed this well before.
And I meant to say: “And therein lies the roots of love and fear RESPECTIVELY” – not respectfully. Ha.
It’s the weekend…We’re half asleep today!
That’s where I think the focus IS now, ssmith.
I’m one of those Republicans who was horrified that the born-again Christians seemed to have hijacked the party. That’s a social issue, and it has nothing to do with limiting the Government.
I don’t care if someone is a born-again Christian, or an athiest. That’s not what politicians should be talking about!
And I may be wrong, but I believe that Kelly is referring more to Progressives than liberals. There is a difference. Am I wrong, Kelly?
Yep – I am referring more to progressives. I sort of feel like, just as there was a time when Born Again ideology was trying to hijack conservatism as a whole, it seems the progressives have hijacked liberals. Normal liberals are now by comparison moderates. Progressives are now liberals – but really they’re just using liberals and the democratic party.
It’s all so confusing, isn’t it?
But it all seems no matter where we fall, we’ve all been jolted a bit more to the right – now that the progressives have wedged themselves onto the platform, and now that we’ve seen where the dangerous slow, slippery liberal slide takes us…
Tamara,
you are very correct, I read some later comments on this thread, and noticed that there were some pro-life posters who expressed their views,
and ya know what?
I absolutely respect their views, I have no issue with that, I disagree with them on certain items on these social issues, but aboslutley they should express their views, I just ask they respect the opposing view.
What I get taken aback on is, and what dems use to scare people into voting for them is that intolerance of even respecting another viewpoint, don’t have to agree with it, but the intolerance of it.
And I know as a social moderate that scared me, and the dems very successfully used this to get voters, in the past I was one of them.
If social conservatives want to convince people who have opposite views to change their views, that’s fine, and vice versa the other way.
The thing is, I think most independents/moderate dems on social issues just don’t want to be told … think like me or you are a bad person and don’t want views forced on them!!
(convincing them by speaking out is one thing, but not forced to think that way. And isn’t the best way to convince someone of your view is by actually convincing them, not saying, well you are wrong b/c I say you are wrong)
(and the issue with abortion essentially stems from one issue, do you consider conception as the beginning of life or not. There is one set who do, another set believes the potential for life is there, and then there is small minority set who don’t even consider a 8 month fetus a human being)
The founding fathers wanted strong state’s rights, people don’t want some big govt telling them what to think, what choices to make, what choices are avaialble to them. The country is so diverse, that for it to function, smaller govt is the best and most effective way to go.
And frankly, at this point social issues should not be a main issue at all, there are much much bigger issues at stake, our debt, the gutting of intellegience, bowing to other countries, socializing industries… like I say so many much bigger issues, which most of us, regardless of where we stand on the social spectrum, are in agreement with these other major issues.
And that is where we should all be focusing on.
That IS where we should be focusing, SSmith.
I agree with you wholeheartedly! I’m a Republican who is tired of the focus on social issues. The government is not my mommy, and I don’t want them to focus on that crap, I want them to focus on what they were hired to do: Follow the Constitution, and do their best to keep us safe and free. Pretty simple. Stay out of private business, private health insurance, private property, etc.
As Kelly put it so well, we are individuals who want to live our lives without constant intrusion from the Government!
So here we are, from opposite sides of the political spectrum, but on the same page.
Glad we can come together.
ssmith: Couldn’t agree more. This is why I am so in love with the Tea Party movement – aware of the incredibly immediate threat to our country, so many different people are coming together, letting go of ALL the social stuff, and focusing on those that really matter: protecting our liberty, defending capitalism, and maintaining our sovereignty. It’s really truly beautiful. And as it should be.
Also – from talking to people at various Tea Party rallies and from just making some observations – the general Tea Party outlook on social issues is growing very libertarian. (See truly inspiring moment where CPAC audience booed stupid homophobic (probably closeted) bigot from stage.) Which is AWESOME. My hope and prayer is that this remains after we’ve taken our country back, and that we can allow the social stuff to get permanently backburnered – so long as God an faith are still cornerstones of our society. Not in the preachy way, of course, but as our Founder intended – that any religion could be freely and openly practiced. When we’re PC-ed into diminishing faith, we risk then having a critical mass of people will needing to fill that void, and then govt will swoop in to do so. (It was by design than the Nazis drained Germany of God – create a void, then fill it. I could post another small essay about how the New Left started slowly killing God in our society in the 60s under the guise of BS “cultural sensitivity” – but really with the goal of creating a society-wide void that the progressive govt could then jump in to fill.)
Also – yes, this is something I’ve come to see much more clearly in the past year, just how much progressives and MSM DO lie about what conservatives stand for. My liberal friends think I stand for greed and, I don’t even know, women just having babies and staying in the house. Whatever it is they think, it is almost always wrong. And I always think – WHERE are people getting this?! Well I’ve come to see – from the liberal lie machine.
I think the abortion issue is one of the most exploited issues – kept in the media by way of liberal talking points, to make us afraid of each other and keep us divided. For one reason: Divide and conquer.
I do not understand the massive widespread fear out there that Roe v Wade will get overturned. It will never ever get overturned. Ever. Even if someone actually attempted it (which they won’t), it would have to go through so many near-impossible votes and logistical hurdles, that it just can’t happen.
The issue is not actually abortion. It’s whether or not federal dollars should fund abortions. But the MSM tries to keep the left terrified that a republican president risks immediate overturning of Roe v Wade. It’s preposterous. And one of the things we really have to focus on to help us come together – we can’t let the MSM continue to propagate this Roe v Wade hysteria.
I bring that point up to my independent/dem leaning friends all the time, but they don’t listen!
It doesn’t matter where a President stands on the abortion issue. Overturning Roe v. Wade is nearly impossible, and the President doesn’t HAVE the power to overturn it. It has to be a SCOTUS case!
I’m so tired of people bringing up that point. If you are pro choice, good for you. If you are pro life, good for you. Your belief on that subject, either way, is not going to affect the court’s decision. That’s a personal belief.
Oh, and your point that the health care bill will pay for abortion: THAT is the problem people have with it, and I do to.
I don’t want to be forced to pay for someone’s abortion. If you want an abortion, you should pay for it yourself! It’s pretty simple to me.
PS
I’m a tea party protester too, and I’ve had the same experience.
The people I met were concerned with losing their liberty and being taxed and spent to death by the Government. They aren’t crazies, they’re ordinary folks who are fed up with the people in office that are treating them like servants, rather than serving THEM.
I agree with Tamara,
“If you are pro choice, good for you. If you are pro life, good for you. ”
and the second point:
“your point that the health care bill will pay for abortion: THAT is the problem people have with it”
Yep, I am pro-choice and I aboslutley oppose any federal money being used to fund abortion. Mainly our of respect for pro-life people, b/c they do believe that life begins at conception, althought I do not.
And so, I don’t think any tax money should be used, b/c that tax money is from people who are pro-life.
I don’t have an issue of it being used for birth control though, many poorer areas do need help with birth control to prevent getting preg.
Well this may be a shocker to you, SSmith, but I am pro choice. Notice how I didn’t mention that earlier?
But I don’t think ANYONE should have to pay for a person’s abortion. That is up to the individual who wants to terminate the pregnancy.
I don’t like abortion.
I wish people would make another choice like adoption, but that’s not MY BUSINESS.
But if that’s a person’s individual choice/right, then THEY should pay for it. Period.
Ok I realize I just left the longest comment – but one last point! This was implied I think, but the liberal ideology also makes you FEEL very out of control of you life. And that is incredibly stressful. Feeling like you have no power over your own life is just a damn stressful way to live. (It’s also misguided.)
It’s also extremely exploitable – and the progressives know this. This sense of having no control and all the fear that comes with it is the exact weakness they aim to exploit to make you believe you need them to come in and provide control and order in the world.
And then liberties just drain away from there…One by one…Each in a reaction to some “injustice,” “inequality,” or “unfairness.”
Kelly, you rock! I copied your comment and sent it out. I hope it goes viral. More please.
I agree. That comment, Kelly, is wonderfully worded. Thanks for taking the time.
I don’t discuss social issues online often.
Just so everybody knows…one of my 6 kids was an abortion that I never had. That is another reason I feel a kinship with Sarah. She and I are 45-ish women. And we both know the joy of holding our children. The ones we were told did not need to be.
As I grow older, I am learning not to fear as much. To open my hand to the world. It is hard to explain. Generosity brings rewards. Abortion is not a generous act.
Brilliant analysis.
Kelly, you should submit that analysis to more than one blog.
That should be read everywhere.
Hey, somebody link this girl!
Oh Tamara, you made my day. That is so kind, thank you, really!
I just love the HB community, really. So nice knowing I have this safe haven here…When my city doesn’t exactly provide that.
Send it to the American Thinker. I bet they will publish it. Seriously.
I’ve got to go now. Catch you guys later.
Kelly, that was very well written and right on target. Great job!

Don’t you love this? I remember seeing these kinds of pro-America cartoons when I was in grammar school.
OK, Kelly, I couldn’t pass up your comment. I posted it, w mention of you.
http://mainfo.blogspot.com/2010/02/kelly-from-hillbuzz-new-american.html
OK Hillbuzz guys, this is Adam Smith Invisible Hand Troll stuff. All trolls are not from the White House. There are Republican Trolls also.
What is great about the following referenced movie is that it demonstrates that financial imperialism will take a step back when they know in the end they will be stepping in.
Burn! (Italian title: Queimada) is a 1969 film
In short, be careful about those who say the support your cause or revolution, they may be setting you up for a fall in the long run.
I am not a troll. I support ANYONE who loves this country and wants to fight to defend it. Go back and look through all my comments – I am open minded and respectful of varying opinions, so long as they are rooted in love of country. From there – the rest are details. And there are room for details in America, that’s why America was founded, that’s why America continues to exist and thrive. That’s why we have the incredible luxury to be whomever and whatever we want, but still each call ourselves American.
When the individual is celebrated, then a society that celebrates differences can emerge, can thrive and can continue to exist and outlast small differences. I’m a registered republican, but by default. AND SO WHAT. It doesn’t define me. I define it. If there were a strong limited govt conservative/moderate party, that’s what I would be. I’m socially libertarian (would I be at this site if I wasn’t?). But I, as all of us here, recognize that attempting a third party at this moment would only hand Obama a second term. And those of us here see that the risks of that are too high. So until we have the luxury of returning to petty politics, I will stand up, loudly and proudly for individualism, limited govt and fiscal sanity, and I will vote for those who echo these sentiments – republican or democrat. Because the alternative is letting power-greedy progressives usurp our liberty and spend us into literal destruction and despari. There’s no turning back once that happens. Not in our lifetime.
The incredible thing about Hillbuzz is that we here are a giant Tea Party. A big tent. The biggest tent. Opinions welcome. Democrats, Moderates, Independents and Republicans welcome. If you love America and are willing to have honest and respectful discourse, all aboard. We here LOVE this country – FIRST – and realize how damn lucky we are to live here. Those of us here respect the Boyz, and we respect each other.
So, An Observer, I’d say if anyone is a troll here, it’s you. Everyone here LOVES America. Everyone here will put their lives on pause (not to mention some silly party registration) to defend liberty and make sure that our children live the free lives we lived. And no one here cares about party lines, so long as we care about America.
What I said was about self-responsibility and the risks and dangers of fear-based thinking. And the belief that we are all in charge of our own lives. There is not greater hope for humanity than self responsibility – it breeds motivation, determination, creativity and incredible success to degrees unimagined by those before us. It breeds improvement. It was not about republicans (did you see me use that word other than stating how I’m registered, for full disclosure?). I don’t even know what republicans stand for anymore. I hope and pray they stand for limited govt and fiscal responsibility. I hope someone, anyone with some power does.
But until then – whatever. They are incidental. WE THE PEOPLE RULE. We the diverse people. I put my faith in the people. I will continue to come here, where I’m certain that everyone here is much more interested in being united than divided. Those that try to divide us – simply b/c this reader is a registered republican and that reader is a registered democrat, b/c this reader prefers Hillary, and that reader prefers Palin – will come in vain. We’ve learned our lesson. We know the risks are too high to bicker. So long as someone stands for America, liberty, our financial health, and our sovereignty, I think you’ll find that pretty much everyone here can respect and support that person, no matter their party affiliation.
Those of us here are not easily divided.
We’re far too laser-focused on the greatest priority there is: defeating tyranny and restoring liberty. Anything that can divide us is rendered irrelevant and insignificant.
Kelly,
You are brilliant!
I have copied and saved this because it’s such a good, clear analysis.
It occurred to me as I was reading it that Sarah Palin is the ultimate embodiment of the conservative principle as you’ve explained it (motivated by love, self-empowered, responsible, eager to affirm and empower others to reach THEIR potential, etc.) and that Barack Obama is the ultimate embodiment of the leftist principle (blame others, sense of “entitlement,” mentality of scarcity/zero-sum-game, seek to restrict/control/dictate to others, etc.)
Our society as a whole has become more cruel and shallow.
Just watch any “reality” show and you can see it.
Just listen to most popular comedians and you can hear it.
And our politicians? Liars, crooks and thieves, telling US how to run our lives.
I wasn’t surprised by that Family Guy episode.
But I was saddened.
I watched this whole episode with Luntz and all the people seemed like nice people, dems and pubbies alike. But I think these dems have been desensitized. Nothing shocks them. However most of them get all their info and entertainment from MSM.
This same group were suprised to find that Rebublicans had their own health care plan, and they seemed to like it.
Totally off topic, but not really…
I was volunteering at school today and the high school social studies teacher was telling the kids near him that capitalism was evil, Republicans were evil, etc. (What was funny about it was that it was a fundraiser drive, RUN BY HIM, for his programs at school. He’ll rip on capitalism in front of his kids, but he’ll gladly reap the benefits of capitalism for his teaching programs at school…)
There were a ton of other parents there and I was too big of a coward to stand up and say something. I live in a very Dem, pro-union town and I feel all alone.
In class one day, this same teacher told the kids that the difference between Dems and Republicans was that Dems care about people and Republicans only care about money. My wonderful 12 year old daughter came home and questioned that – she was upset that he was pigeon-holing people and needed to talk it over with me and her dad.
We aren’t Rep or Dems (we vote issues), but I talk politics with my kids often and tell them to look at all sides of an issue, then make your decision. Don’t count on your teachers or other adults to make up your mind for you.
I’m mad at myself for not saying something to him. It’s one thing him having his own political opinion, but forcing it on preteens and teens is completely wrong.
Had to vent about that – good to get it off my chest.
I’m glad you vented.
I definitely urge you next time to speak up, I did this at work once, and I was surprised to learn that soo many other coworkers felt the same as me.
Speak up next time, you will surprised to see how many other people agree with you.
and people like the teacher usually are cowards when challenged. They go on only b/c they go on unchallenged
Thank you.
I wish I were as knowledgable and eloquent as many of you are here. I know what I think, but I often have a hard time stating what I think.
I think you’re right about the coward thing. He didn’t say it loudly (under his breath, but I clearly heard it). I would think if it was something he was proud of, he would state it much louder for all of us (mostly parents) to hear.
FWIW, if he had said, “Republicans love babies and Democrats want to kill babies” I’d be ticked off too. His party and political affiliation shouldn’t be in the classroom at all. Just teach my child social studies, darn it!
Don’t worry Michelle. You are doing just fine. The thing to remember is that there are really more of us then them.
My problem is I open my mouth and respond before I think about if I should.
I live in south Florida. I always thought this was progressive-ville. I’ve come to find out that plenty of people were just sitting back and waiting to follow someone else’s lead.
Go for it!
what you should have said, and very loudly for all the parents to hear was “I don’t appreciate you filling my child’s head with your political nonsense. it’s inappropriate”. Call the entire rooms attention to it-even if they are pro Dem. Ya know, there are many that are Democrats that are snae, logical and use common sense.
The reason he didn’t say it loudly is he didn’t want alot of parents to hear him telling it to his children.
Other Michelle, you sound like a very sweet and loving parent, and from your post, you certainly know what he is doing is so wrong. So, Next time you hear him say something like that, ask him in your softest voice to a quieter place in the room and then ask him why on earth would he say something like that to children? And ask him if he really believes that? Ask him if he believes that serves any purpose other than manipulating children to believe as he does. Suggest that instead of telling each child what to believe, he might just let them research the philosophies of both parties and to write an essay on someone in each party that he/she admires. Tell him you are certain that he would not give a lower grade to anyone who disagrees with him.
Once he’s on the defensive, you will feel the power and the words will come to you. And he will be on the defensive and he WILL apologize because what he did is absolutley unethical and he knows it. He also knows if you speak to any members of the board of education, it might mean his job. My guess is he won’t do it again.
And if you hear he does, pop on up to the principal’s office and describe what you know to be true.
He will stop – or he will be stopped.
Great advice! Thank you!
Other Michelle – I recommend reading Liberty & Tyranny by Mark Levin. A year ago, I could not articulate why I believed what I did. In the past year I’ve become an avid reader of political books, which has helped me understand things beyond just heart and gut.
I know we don’t all have time to read several books (especially you parents out there), but L&T is a very quick, easy and accessible read. If you read it, I hope enjoy it! It will make you much more confident, even excited to speak up should this idiot teacher be so inappropriate again.
Kelly, I actually have that book, but I haven’t read it yet. I’ll start it tonight. (Also have SP’s book too – ordered them together).
Thanks!
You need to go to your school board immediately and contact your local media.
Whatever you do, make an issue of it!
I am advising you to do that as a Democrat.
Because, the sooner we Blue Collar Democrats take the party back, the better!
quote: “Republicans may not like that we’re gay “….well most of us prefer to be called conservative but no biggie as we have no problem at all with the gay part as long as it’s not shoved in our faces…we don’t like heterosexuality shoved in our faces either ! Class acts are the preferred models of behavior.
Conservative Republicans don’t care what you do in the privacy of your own home as long as you are an honest hard working taxpayer–and what you do is not against the law or harms another person. Unlike Democrats who like to micromanage every aspect of your life.
This is OT and I don’t want to hijack this thread but just heard an interesting tidbit from my brother who works at Cape Canaveral. It seems that there is a new head of NASA and he was at the Cape and told someone to make sure that people stopped working at some building because the building was going to be demolished in the near future. The company my brother works distributed memos to its employees about the great possibility of their jobs being lost. It seems that the space program will be now mainly run by the Russians. The US will also pay Russia $52 million for the astronauts to work on their program (I believe it is $52 million per astronaut). I will find out more and let you know.
What do you all think about this?
If this is true we should all bombard Florida senator Bill Nelson’s office. This creep was a former astronaut. How can he allow this?
Based on Obama’s 2011 budget they are now forecasting 23000 jobs lost after the end of the shuttle program plus the cutting of other programs. 9000 at Kennedy Space Center and 14000 in the surrounding communities.
Here’s hope-ing these people will have some change left.
They had a big protest over in Brevard Cty. (home to NASA) about this and yes it’s about jobs and jobs being “outsourced” to Russia to run the space station.
Oh my gosh, JFK is probably rolling in his grave right now. Wasn’t he a HUGE advocate for the space program?
Yes he was.
Go to site http://www.redstate.com (won’t link)
Anyway, the first article states that The Obama administration kills 23K space related jobs in Florida. Unbelievable, what more can this administration ruin. We were always the best since JFK in space related technologies and invention. Why oh why is this happening to our country. We have always strived to be the best we could be in any indevor. We are going to become a second rate country not the leader of the free world.
This breaks my heart. I remember watching Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon as a little girl, with my whole family, then we all went outside and looked up at the moon…
Some musician wrote a pop song that played on the radio for months about “they watched a guy named Armstrong walk upon the moon.” The song was about how Apollo 11 united the world as EVERYONE watched, and marveled at what the HUMAN RACE had pulled off. I remember seeing photographs of people in India (which was still a very poor country then) gathered all around their village’s one television, watching.
Glory days.
I’m so glad I got to grow up in that era. What will fire up the dreams and aspirations of our children and grandchildren???
Welcome!
Caught this last night on O’Reilly. I don’t even know what to say about these cretins anymore. You guys above me nailed it pretty well already. It’s sick.
Frank Luntz was obviously affected, I think in a way I haven’t seen from him before. I think O’Reilly has a soft spot for Sarah, too, which actually surprises me a little bit, since he’s such a blowhard.
But yeah: those democrats polled are utter scum.
this isn’t about a republican or democrat or independent.
It is about human beings, just like that comment about dick cheney, “ripping out his heart and kicking it ard”
I mean just think about it, this is not just a former VP, this is a fellow human being.
And making fun at the expense of special-needs kids? These people are going to need extra help going thru life, they are already at a disadvantage, and then for them to be kicked and made fun of, like this?
Yes, I agree Frank luntz was affected as was O’reilly.
“this isn’t about a republican or democrat or independent…”
I agree. People that behave like that are truly unhinged. They hate Palin on a human level, as you say. If they don’t like her–fine. If they don’t agree with her on any issue–fine. If they’d never vote for her–fine. But it goes soo far beyond that for them. They detest her, and her KIDS, for crying out loud. What did her kids ever do to them?
These are really sorry, sad people–if you can call them people.
Also–for the first time, I really saw sadness in Sarah’s eyes in the clip when she was talking to Bill about the “joke”. I almost couldn’t look at her, it was so upsetting. Her eyes are usually so bright, but not that night. What she has gone through is ridiculous.
I agree about Frank Luntz, usually he is so chill and nonchalant about partisan issues. He must have witnessed Palin Derangement Syndrome big time to have that expression. Usually, he is so unaffected by the partisan crap b/c of the polling he does.
Totally agree. He sounded like he was still in shock from their hatred.
I recieved an e-mail today from my senator, Kirten Gillibrand asking me to sign a petition IN FAVOR of reconciliation!!! These people have lost their fickin minds. Of course I won’t sign it, but I’ll be shooting off an e-mail,again, to let her know exactly how I feel about this whole nightmare.
That is just crazy. Over the moon lunacy.
Let’s hope that the NY ‘Pubs get their act together soon, for if they do, she is in for one nasty surprise in November. And Senator Schmucky too, with a little luck.
I got that same email, I have no clue how I got on her mailing list, probably thru HillaryPac or something.
I wrote her back as well.
These totalatarian freaks have lost their fking minds! Absolutely lost their minds!
*HillPac
I live in a conservative county in new york state and know personally a NY Rep. Assemplyman. His aide and I were talking the other day and he said the Rep. party isn’t putting up any good candidates for these offices. The 2 senator seats, governor and attorney general are all in the dem’s hands and ripe for takeover, if the Rep’s could get their act together.
76% Prefer the Term “Used Condom” As Ethnic Slur When Referring To MSNBC Contributor Donny Deutsch
February 24, 2010
naturalfake.com
An overnight and wholly unscientific survey conducted by naturalfake Polling found that when using an ethnic slur to refer to that Used Condom Donny Deutsch, 76% of those polled preferred to use the term “used condom”.
“Used Condom” is an ethnic slur used against Caucasians like Donny Deutsch. It means someone who is said to be”white on the outside, white on the inside and very icky”.
MSNBC Contributor and Used Condom Donny Deutsch came to the attention of ethnic slurrers everywhere when he referred to the Republican Gubernatorial Candidate, Marco Rubio, as a “coconut” on the Joy Behar show.
“Coconut” is an ethnic slur which refers to someone of Hispanic origin who said to be “brown on the outside, white on the inside”.
Though Used Condom Donny Deutsch has since said his use of the term “coconut” was based on his own ignorance, an excuse that while being fully consistent with being both a liberal and an MSNBC contributor, it appeared to have little or no effect on the survey.
The results of our overnight and wholly unscientific survey for the preferred ethnic slur when referring to Used Condom and MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch are as follows:
76% “Used Condom” – meaning “wht outside/wht inside and very icky”
19% “A Maggot and Sauerkraut Sandwich on Wonder Bread” – meaning “wht out/wht in and nauseating”
3% “Deutsch Bag” – straight up slur against German heritage
1% “Ku Klux Byrd” – “wht out/ wht in” refers to white Democrat Sen Robert Byrd inside his white Ku Klux Klan robes
1% “A Vanilla Milk Shake inside of Hitler” – “wht out/wht in and producing lots of gas as Hitler was lactose-intolerant
The term “Onion” was rejected by all participants in the survey. “Onion” meaning a person of Caucasian origin who is “white on the outside, white on the inside with many layers” as it didn’t appear at all to apply to Used Condom and MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch.
As part of our ongoing and wholly unscientific survey, naturalfake like you to use the comment section to list your favorite ethnic slurs when referring to that Used Condom, MSNBC contributor, Donny Deutsch.

Donny Duetschbag is so much easier
I think society in general is more rude than it has been in the past…and liberals exacerbate that rudeness. Conservatives are more quiet. I don’t know how many times I’ll listen to people arguing about politics…it’s usually the liberals doing the arguing and the conservatives sit and listen. But I don’t blame them! You can’t reason with those people. They think they’re right and no matter what you say it’s wrong…and all that gets accomplished is a bunch of arguing. Even on Facebook…among my friends who are both liberal and conservative. I will post things and nobody will respond on the status…but they send me a message in private saying “You’re right!!” or whatever…but don’t say it out loud! It’s crazy.
Exactly! There is this odd “We just want to get along” saying, but liberals take silence as agreement. Which has come back to bite conservatives on the butt!
as a democrat, unfortunatley during the Bush years, I was probably one of those loud mouths, since I am used to being a loud mouth, when any liberal or some lunatic in the undemocratic party says some nonsense, I don’t stay quiet.
Its weird for me, b/c I am now arguing for things that I was arguing against just a few years back.
Please do NOT stay quiet, you have every right to voice your opinion. Your opinion is just as imporant, and let me say one other item, you will find more often than not, many others who will agree with you once they hear someone else voice their opinion.
I have become a loudmouth, smith.
And since my work in the entertainment industry is filled with liberals, I’ve lost work because of it.
But I’m not afraid anymore.
I will speak out against the lies and smears and I will face those who lie with FACTS.
It’s the only way we can save this country.
Don’t back down.
good for you!
Yes, I am surprised at the clear logic of conservative thinking, but many stay quiet (and so the liberals think their opinion is the majority one b/c no one speaks up against them).
Please do not stay quiet! This is exactly what the lunatics radicals want. And especially since their flimsy arguments can be taken apart so easily, please do not stay quiet.
Oh, and I’m glad we can meet in the middle, smith. It seems to me that we have a lot more in common than we have differences.
And smile lots and don’t get angry. It pisses them off which really all they are trying to do you us so we look silly.
That takes guts. Good for you. I wish more people like you would turn up in the industry.
I sooo agree with you guys. I have heard this story so many times. The left save their sharpest daggers for their own. Anyone one on the left who crosses their own side always says, I have been fighting with right-wingers all my life but they NEVER ever got as mean and nasty as my former “progressive” friends have been.
Gays and lesbians who dare to wander off the reservation are particularly targeted.
I salute your courage.
“In those three years, Leftists have done more harm to us and shown us more evil than Republicans ever did in our first 30 years of life.”
You are certainly not alone, Hillbuzz. I don’t know if the hatred and cruelty from the Left has gotten worse recently or if I was just blind to it in all my years as a Dem. Probably a bit of both.
It’s true, I too have never experienced this much hostility from Republicans or conservatives, even though we were on opposite sides of the aisle. The nastiness that began during the primaries from the Left shocked me and it hasn’t let up since.
A friend of mine was asked if she left the Dem party or if the Dem party left her, and she quipped, “are you kidding, I fled in terror and had to get a restraining order!” Yeah, that’s kind of how I feel, too.
That is SOOO funny.
I never knew any hostile people who were conservative. They were mostly quiet and just took care of their families and communities.
We’ve all been awakened since this election. Thank GOD we can come together to save this country. Parties be damned.
Something seriously nasty has happened to the Dem party, and it’s happened pretty recently, in the last year and a half. I converted to conservatism when I realized I preferred being around conservatives more than my liberal acquaintances. My liberal acquaintances were frankly not that nice. The cliche is they love humanity in the abstract, but are jerks to people that they actually have to deal with. And I found that to be more true than not. The dems are so nasty now, they bring up how stupid Sarah Palin is every chance they get, it’s so weird. Something bizarre has happened to them. They seem so juvenile.
They ARE juvenile, Julia.
And you are right to choose new friends.
For so many people whose religion fails them, what remains and even grows stronger is the demonology — not usually integrally, but in bits and pieces in which the fundamental impulses behind it are more alive than before.
The attachment of a lot of these Democrats to their party, it’s become fairly clear in the age of Obama, first in the phase of hysterical approval and now with the onset of disillusionment, is basically of a quasi-religious character. They may no longer regard O as a god, but in SP they certainly see an avatar of the devil. (And, of course, these are the people who denounced Bush’s putative Manicheanism the loudest and were most horrified when he spoke the word, Evil!)
As more and more of their articles of faith — most obviously their belief in global warming — I expect that they will adhere even more vehemently and nastily to the negative supplement of their creed.
articles of faith fail — sorry for forgetting the verb!
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/02/powerless_against_palin.html
Excellent points!
Several experiences early on with Dems that profoundly shaped my perception of them; in 1996 a girl I was friends with invited me over for dinner to her house. This was just a month or so after the election that year, and when I revealed to her that I didn’t vote Democrat, she kicked me out of her house!
In 2004, my now-former best friend from high school, a man I had known and been friends with for 15 years, stopped talking to me because he THOUGHT I voted for W. I didn’t even vote that year, because I had just moved and didn’t get registered in time.
I had known Republicans before, and none of them ever criticized me or stopped talking to me if my views differed from theirs, but plenty of Dems have.
That is bizarre. I’m sorry your friends were such jerks. I haven’t had any stories like that. But I feel-out the politics of potential friends before I hang out with anyone anymore. It’s just easier than waiting for the liberals to decide I’m not good enough for them.
I’m much rather spend my time with people who actually have a kind heart and a sense of decency– and they usually end up being conservative.
I had a great friend in high school. He was sooooooooo hilarious, a very talented singer and performer, very kind-hearted and generous. He made me laugh even on the shittiest of days, at least once. Such a fun guy.
Well, we graduated high school and went off to college. ne day he IMs me on AIM and I was thrilled. This was in 2004 during the campaign. I had a “W” icon on my profile, which I had forgotten about anyway. He goes “WHAT IS THAT???!!!!!!!”, horrified and angry. I told him it’s the President; I supported his re-election. He was so dfensive and feaked-out and grilled me about this and that–I had never seen this side of him before. He asked me if I was going to support the ban on “gay marriage” that was also on the ballot. I said “No, I’m not. I promise you.” And I didn’t.
See, I left out one detail when I was describing my friend: he also happens to be gay. He was truly horrified to learn I was a *dreaded* Republican. He thought I must have been some kind of closted bigot all along, after we had been friends for 4 years.
It was sad and unexpected how he thought I’d suddenly morphed into someone he didn’t know or something. I could feel him judging me through the computer.
We’ve lost contact over the years, but I don’t think that’s reason. Of course I can’t positive, but I think it was a natural drifting over time. I miss him, and think about often.
Note: Various typos are a byproduct of sleepiness, not of alcohol or the like. G’nite.
OK, here I am replying to myself again, lol. But I just remembered the funniest thing he said once. He was my date to one of our formal dances back in HS, and I was bite-sized back then, really athletic, so I wasn’t exactly, uhhh, chesty, let’s say. Well, my mom had been nagging me to try on my dress with the right underwear and jewlery, etc. well BEFORE leaving so I could have everything right. Of course I didn’t listen. So when I got dressed, it was quite obvious that my fancy new bra was clearly made of pure unicorn pixie dust and leprechaun magic because it gave me this amazing chest no one saw coming, least of all, me.
So my friend/date shows up at my door to pick me up, he walks in, looks at me and screams: “Whoa, HONEY! You are SO lucky I’m gay! Because MMMMMM!” I about peed my pants laughing. God, I miss him.
Oh I’m sorry you lost touch with your friend. Maybe one day the universe will bring you together again. It’s really unfortunate that there are so many people out there who think being republican means being anti-gay. I’m a republican – who couldn’t be more pro-gay marriage. The good news – the mis-perception that conservatives are anti-gay is coming crashing down – that wonderful incident at CPAC (the booing part, not the bigoted rant part) opening the floodgates. Maybe your friend is out there somewhere beginning to realize this…
This past Oct, one of my oldest, closest friends got up from dinner at the restaurant and walked out on me when I told him I didn’t believe in global warming – leaving me alone.
We’ve exchanged a few polite emails since then, but haven’t seen each other since. Not sure if we will.
Yikes! What a horrible experience.
I’ve lost friends along the way too because of my beliefs in small government.
But what hurt me the most was a conversation right after the election when a niece was euphoric about Obama winning. I told her that he would disappoint her and it would be soon. She shrunk back from me and said she couldn’t believe that must mean I didn’t vote for him. I told her that I didn’t. She’s been “chilly” to me ever since. We used to talk on the phone so often and chat via email. But not much anymore.
I believe that soon she will admit that I was right because she has always been a sensible girl and now woman.
Gays, minorities generally and women generally who don’t toe the leftist line really seem to drive the left insane.
Palin Derangement Syndrome is closely related to Bush Derangement Syndrome. Both cause the sufferer to froth at the mouth and hurl inane insults.
Even though, Breitbart does not mention Palin in this old column on Bush Derangement Syndrome, we can all agree that Palin is the “target” now.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/08/17/george_w_bush-by-proxy_syndrome_97918.html
I’m mistaken he did mention Palin … oversight sorry.
It still amazes me sometimes that I am on the same side as some guys in Chicago who support HILLARY CLINTON!!!! I used to despise that lady and her husband. I still think she’d be way too liberal a president. But yes, she would be far preferable to the Dr.
Bill Clinton & Ronald Reagan: The best modern American presidents.
I’m a republican – and I think America was beyond lucky to have Bill as president. He was a fiscal conservative. I’d vote for him today if I could (or Hillary, any Clinton!). He balanced the budget – that should be the gold standard.
It bothers me to no end when my fellow republicans have a knee jerk reaction to Bill Clinton. Republicans would be wise to do their homework and come to understand and admit (maybe that’s the biggest/hardest part) that he was a phenomenal president.
It must be remembered that Bill Clinton balanced the budget BECAUSE he had a Republican congress to deal with.
Yes, and they both worked well with each other. Until Bill got caught with that girl and everything went to hell.
That’s because he actually worked with Congress! He didn’t say, “Elections have consequences” and grab his toys and go home.
Obama is tone deaf to anyone who isn’t a Democrat, and he’s tone deaf to the American people.
Bill Clinton LISTENED, and worked with his Republican Congress, and got things DONE.
The Republicans who hold such contempt for the man are self-righteous asses. At least, that’s my opinion.
This was posted by Techno on C4P, and since we often address these same questions at Hillbuzz, I thought it might be informative to us.
The 5 greatest myths surrounding Sarah Palin:
1) That Sarah Palin is a poor debater.
Her opponents in the 2006 primaries and general election and Joe Biden during the 2008 campaign would tend to disagree. That’s like saying when Tiger Woods plays golf again that he is a poor bunker player, whereas everyone of his skills on the golf course are above par.
2) Sarah Palin is “unelectable”.
That’s like saying the Titanic was destined to hit an iceberg in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. At this point in time no politician is electable or unelectable. They haven’t sailed yet. Circumstances intervene that spur development or set one back. Injuries (unforced errors) occur or are avoided. The game has to play out. Current polls indicate who the frontrunners are and who they are not. Recent polls indicate that it is a two person race. Until someone challenges Romney and Palin it will remain that way. I have already gone of record to say in two years it will come down to Romney vs. Palin. And when you have a 50% chance of gaining the GOP nomination, you have a decent chance to gain the GOP nomination and if you do that then you have a 50% chance of being POTUS.
Deeming one ‘unelectable’ is the same as looking into a crystal ball and determining that in two years a football team will not be competing for the Super Bowl.
3) Sarah Palin does not have an organization
The great assets that Sarah Palin has is that she is a master strategist and that she is a conviction politician in that she is sure of what she believes and does not believe. The greater majority of politicians need advisors to tell them what policies to advance or not advance (eg fiscal issues vs social conservative issues), what to say and what not to say and honestly often what to believe or not to believe. They become puppets to their handlers, strings to be manipulated. That Sarah may have fewer people in her organization to advise her is a tribute to her conviction and certitude. Having said that whoever she consults with to provide her daily briefings or does research for her is part of her organization regardless if they are paid employees or if she deals with them as self-employed contractors.
4) Sarah Palin needs to ‘bone up’
Singling out Palin for such criticism is so puerile because every candidate has to ‘bone up’. Nobody knows everything. It is a smart man or woman who knows what they don’t know or are less conversant in and strive to acquire the knowledge to be able to deal better with certain subject areas as they arise in the future. What galls me is that Romney, Huckabee, Daniels, Thune, Barbour, Jindal are treated like geniuses by the MSM, that once they declare for the presidency they already know everything they need to know and have no need to read briefing books or consult with experts etc. Bullsh*t!
5) Sarah Palin does not write her Facebook posts
A couple of days ago former aide Meg Stapleton addressed that and said that Palin is in charge of what she writes on Facebook and the ideas she seeks to communicate. Of course it doesn’t mean somebody doesn’t proofread her copy to make sure the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed.
wow, very good list!
what a perfect line:
“Deeming one ‘unelectable’ is the same as looking into a crystal ball and determining that in two years a football team will not be competing for the Super Bowl. ”
I like Sarah, I trust her, do I have disagreements with her? Yes, even my disagreements with her, I respect them, just like she does of viewpoints opposite of her.
I think the PDS will abate, b/c the disgust hurled at this woman is crossing beyond Bush, the video above is not all dems, most centerists and moderates, even if they don’t agree with Sarah, don’t have a hatred towards her, and those dems are essentially leaving the party, and if dems feel this way, I imagine the Independents must be even further along.
Heck, call me a Palin Democrat / Independent.
Does anyone know if the Palin family ever responded to Andrea Fay Friedman’s comments? (Sorry if this was addressed earlier in this thread.) I haven’t been able to find anything about it and I’d be interested on Sarah’s take on a woman with Down’s having a successful career. Thanks.
Hi Troll!
Let’s see,
Read carefully because I fear your bias may make you a bit dense—
Sarah has a son with Downs.
AFF is a successful woman with Downs.
SO, she’s probably happy that she’s had a happy life and wishes the same for her son.
How, why do I get the feeling you’re someone who thinks the whole video was funny. I bet you’d throw rocks at Trig. I bet you’d he should have been aborted.
IOW, the “Party of Cruelty” kinda fits you…. judging from your trolling without content.
ok, that was uncalled for. I see no evidence this person has said anything vile. S/He asked a question, that’s all.
They’ve slung rocks further up the thread and insulted other posters. This isn’t their first baiting post.
Hi, clueless! I was referring the AFF’s comments, too. They were pretty incisive.
Read more carefully next time, or mebbe get something better than that ol’ 8th grade education.
You bet I’d throw rocks at Trig? What kind of ogre suggests something like that about an innocent child? What’s the matter with you people?
BTW the term “troll” has long been mis-defined on this site. Look it up sometime.
You posted up the thread slamming Republicans and the posters.
As for Troll being misdefined, areyou saying that Hillbuzz is wrong in how they’ve defined Trolls??
I answered your question as it was framed, “I’d be interested in Sarah’s take”. If you knew Palin, read her FB remarks in regard to the ‘joke’ you’d know her take.
As for throwing rocks at Trig, that was a liberal brag on another forum. Either verbal or physical, it’s all the same.
AFF is a sweet girl, but your question was about her being successful, not her take on Downs kids being attacked.
We’re dicussing Trig being attacked, not his potential in life.
Mr. Burns,
Trig was not the subject of the joke; Ms. Palin was. Even if my mother was alive I’d like to think, as an adult, I’d be able to stick up for myself.
I can’t think of a single reason to “throw rocks” at a defenseless human being. Perhaps you do since you keep referencing the blog post you supposedly have found. Criminals, it is said, often return to the scene of the crime.
ah, I see, I just looked upthread, the dentures discussion part of the post.
I missed that part.
not sure. Perhaps C4P might have some more information on that. They seem to be pretty up to date on the latest responses from Sarah. Hopefully you will get more information. Good Luck.

I get tired of people who falsely state that redistribution of wealth is “fair” or “just.”
Is it fair or just that a couple who started with nothing and work 7 days a week running a small store have to share income with someone who sits on his butt all day?
I think not!
What about the fairness to the workers who break their backs? Where’s THEIR fair and just treatment?
Wasn’t it Lincoln who said you should be able to enjoy the fruits of your own labor?
It comes from the bible.
Psalm 128:2
You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.
“Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.” Lincoln’s First Annual Message to Congress, December 3, 1861.
If social issues such as abortion become irrelevant to a society what then keeps such society civilized?
I once supported abortion without conscience then I chose to become conscientious of the the reality that if I chose abortion it was not my body aborted rather I’d abort another human being who is given no choice whatsoever.
How can I choose to take life while expecting society to protect my life should I become an inconvenience?
To put another way, if I am capable of aborting another human being what is to stop me from pulling the plug on other human beings?
Christianity has its faith and I appreciate those who consider life precious because one day I might find myself in the same position as the baby who is aborted; treated as an inconvenient clump of cells easy extinguished by a barbaric society.
Further; if I can be treated like the aborted baby is treated what then will prevent homosexuals from being treated like the baby and myself in society guided by barbarism?
If a baby and I are easily extinguished by a barbaric, uncivilized society then who and what will stop a barbaric, uncivilized society from hanging homosexuals in the public square?
What did Fyodor Dostoevski attempt to expose in Brothers Karamazov? ‘if God does not exist then everything is permissible; eventually even cannibalism would become lawful’
Mother Teresa said, “The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion. Because if a mother could destroy EVEN her own child….what is there left for me to kill you and you to kill me?”
I’m not trying to lay any hate on here. If anyone reading this is tormented emotionally because they’ve had an abortion, PLEASE do yourself a favor and visit http://www.silentnomoreawareness.org. Thousands of women have found peace, self-forgiveness and healing through this group and through support groups for post-abortive women such as the Rachel’s Vineyard retreats.
why is this man-bear-pig still peddling his lies?
http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/02/junk-scientist-al-gore-still-beating-dead-horse/
apparently he has a NYT editorial. Seriosuly, this man is not a scientist and is listening to scientists who have been caught lying.
And I will admit 5 years ago, I believed in global warming as well, now? it has to be one of the biggest lie every peddled.
I went back and looked at some publications from the 70s, guess what the rage was then? GLOBAL COOLING.
Should we recyle? of course. And be good stewarts of the planet, but heck no we don’t want to cap and tax, especially with such a weak economy!
Are there not lines in life that you do not cross? Areas in humanity that you do not violate?
This is a vulnerable special needs child. Who could attack it or it’s mother, THROUGH it?
Some things just aren’t funny. And to the actress with DS that told Palin to relax? Reminds me of bullies torturing someone in school while saying ‘it’s okay he LIKES it’…while the victim is cooperating out of a desperate need for any sort of approval or acknowledgement from the group.
I’m tired of qualifying what is and what isn’t okay to attack. I shouldn’t have to say ‘it’s okay to attack issues, it’s not okay to attack people in ugly ways’. So I won’t.
There are some things that you just shouldn’t do because it’s wrong. This is one of them. To not know it shows a fundamental character flaw.
As the mother of a special needs child with autism, this political levity at the expense of the special needs community is appalling. Were the show making fun of a person of a different race, there would have been a huge outcry. I would not have liked that either. Regardless of what people think of Sarah Palin, since when is it okay to target children? Disgusting.
I was just wondering after having read a quote from Mitch Daniels of Indiana if Evan Bayh was being treated as badly as these guys are by his fellow Dems for daring to respectfully disagree. When a group cannot allow for any disagreement there is truly something wicked at work.
Hayek talked about this very thing in the chapter “Why the Worst Get on Top” in The Road to Serfdom. The factors that must be put into action to make the socialist utopia come to pass reward cruel and vicious behavior, rather than responsibility and compassion.
Democrats are, generally, mean thugs.
Mean mean mean. Beyond mean. Angry and hideous.
Democrats must get their way, or they act, right on cue, like whiny spoiled demon-spawned children.
case in point: Socialized Health care.
oh and – Family Guy sucks. Not funny – ever.
