Question: Could DEMOCRATS end up taking down Charlie Crist, and exposing his hypocrisy and Green Iguana shenanigans?

Posted on April 29, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

"Hey stud. Sweet Speedo. Buy you a daquiri? Strawberry, or Razzleberry?"

Here’s a brief thought we just had:  if Charlie Crist, as an Independent, pushes lackluster Democrat candidate Meeks into third place in the Florida Senate race, as suspected, then will Democrats take Crist down themselves, Eric Massa-style?

We got the idea when we heard that Crist was trying desperately to get in touch with Rahm Emanuel at the White House, through intermediaries, but Rahm wouldn’t take the call (“Tell him I’m watching Justin Beiber on Youtube and will call him back, at like, never”).

We wondered:  why WOULDN’T Emanuel take that call?

Why WOULDN’T he help Crist run as an Independent if that would hurt Marco Rubio and help the Democrats’ chances of picking up that Senate seat?

Unless, Rahm’s numbers show Crist hurts Meeks more than Rubio.

In which case, we wonder how long before Rahm takes Crist down to increase Meeks’ odds for victory.

Earlier today, I heard that this race is gonna get down and dirty. They said it will end up being the dirtiest campaign ever.
I expect Crist’s truth to come out.

Well Crist was filmed embracing Obama. We hear stories about both of them. Maybe they are more familiar than we know.

I’m not sure why Rahm WOULD have taken the call. Why would the WH effectively end Kendrick Meek’s (Dem, natch) run for the Senate, when doing so would mean that Crist would only get flattened by Rubio in the election proper?

They want Crist to run and hopefully siphon votes from Rubio (Crist has enough to potentially tip the balance) but not be strong enough to actually win. It’s not that Crist hurts Meeks more, it’s that they have a chance to regain a supermajority before November, and they want it to be a proper Dem if at all possible.

They’re not going to take Crist down. They don’t care that much. They just want 60 votes before November to ram something like immigration through.

I guess what I just do not understand is how anyone, of either party could support an individual that has blatantly lied straight up to the people of FL? I mean you would have to be the bottom of the barrel of a human being to do that right? Like supporting John Edwards or something…

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the ads run against him, could be quite interesting.

I supported John Edwards for President. At the time people who supported him knew nothing about his extra marital affair. I have nothing to apologize for in supporting John Edwards. I did so because I agreed with his policies. I did so on good faith. I am not the bottom of a barrell of a human being, and I reject the comment. I think John Edwards is a slimeball. Obviously I didn’t think so two and half years ago. Because of the sheer villainy of the Democrat party in what they did to Clinton and Palin and their general corruption, as well as the background of Obama, I voted for McCain. I may never vote for another Democrat again. I am a regular Hillbuzz reader and I also happen to be Tea Party Participant

I cannot imagine that I am the only former Edwards supporter here who has had a similar transformation. I would be grateful if we are not demonized.

      Thanks.

I never liked John Edwards because he was a an ambulence chaser that basically made c-sections the norm because of the lawsuits against doctors who allowed their patients to have VBACS…he was a slimeball long before his affair, IMO.

Tea Party is now 40 per cent Dem, I’m sure that there will be more. Dems are not only corrupt but their legislation is so bad it has to be jammed down the unwilling citizens throats. Great tactics if you’re a bunch of sleazy maniacs.

The Democrats don’t want Rubio to win. Crist winning would show that the tea party small Government wing of the GOP is bad. They would use that against them.

I should look through the archives because I have been saying for months and months that Crist will only take votes away from Meeks…not Marco. The few Repubs who supported him will not be supporting him anymore as and Indy and the Independents are overall sick of wishy washy politicians, which he most certainly is. No way, will he take votes from Marco…only Meeks.

And yes, I called it! Shotgun!

you’re exactly right! I’ve been saying this as well. It’s funny that the MSM will try to spin this as a defeat for Marco and as a win for Chuck and Dems. Ain’t going to happen!! But if the Boys’ thoughts are true, then the next couple of months should be very intriguing to watch…

I agree totally. The 50 point swing for Rubio is considerably connected to the Healthcare reform. A lot of the Floridian electorate like their Medicare Advantage that Obama has taken away. Crist going Indy only helps the conservative vote. Meeks and Crist will split the democrats. Keeping Grayson and Kosmos highly visible will help conservatives too. Florida is more Red than ever. Thanks Gov.

Yes, you are right, Crist will take away from Meeks. Vetoing that education bill to gain support of the teacher unions is not cutting into Marco Rubio’s base of support. Since Rubio pretty much locked up the right and the center right, there’s only one other place for Crist to go … into Meeks territory.

Meek was a great Hillary supporter! This move by Crist will give Meek’s the seat. Polls mean nothing now. No one starts giving a crap till about 3 weeks before the election down here. Marco is a boob, time will show this to be true. The tea party may like him but real people will see through him.

As most people in Florida i dont go so deep into things to the point i could site my references. I just have a feeling that he may have sold his soul to get himself in the position he is in.

Like most politicans, their ego is much bigger than their brains. So, if Crist just took losing “gracefully” and stayed true to the party, he would have had a shot at Bill Nelson in 2012. But no, even that chance is gone for him, he effectively tourched his career by this move. Machievelli would not approve.

Crist IMHO will come in third. He will flame out and get the bums rush in November. Meek will be meek, Rubio will win. 45% Rubio 35% Meek 20% Crist.

I predicted a Rubio primary win back when Rubio was down in the polls. I predict now the complete and utter demise of Crist politically, who have been exposed as a flamboyant narcissist of the highest order, and the worst sort of person to put into political power – its all about HIM, not the voters. Silly man, he could have run for re-election and won. He could have bowed out now, licked his wounds and waited for 2012.

But if you know the kind of high-flying exec who manages to hop to his next gig before his incompetence is exposed … THAT’S HIM… They caught up with him. Game over, Charlie.

Rasmussen has Meek in third place. WSJ’s analysis is that Crist’s biggest supporters would be trial lawyers and teachers’ unions (splitting the Democratic vote). Crist would also lose a lot of GOP money and organization.

To be seen as a viable third party candidate, Crist would need to attack Meek to make sure Crist can stay in at least second place. This can go badly for Meek.

There is little chance that Meek could prevail. Which may explain why Meek drew a primary challenge.
