Purple Action Item: Alaskan Animal branding for Governor Palin

I saw these little Alaskan animals in a toy shop in Andersonville…and immediately, as soon as I saw them, I thought of Governor Palin.
How do we saturate American pop culture for the next year with Alaskan animals?
The fun thing is that a tee shirt doesn’t even need to have “Palin” written on it to make people think of the Governor.
Anything with a collection of these animals on it will achieve that.
Let’s think outside the box about how we can promote Governor Palin in creative ways that are almost subliminal advertising for her.

be careful- this can totally backfire.
some independents are about animal rights and maybe palin’s name on animals will make them associate her with the “evils of hunting”.
something has to be done to counter the shooting wolves from helicopters, the melting ice caps displacing polar bears and the clubbing of seals for fur before winning anyone over.
i think that actually, global warming and the melting ice caps is about 50/50 as far as who believes which side; nothing has been done to dispel the rumors of the poaching of wolves and seals are still being clubbed as per my HSUS e-letters, along with the whales. these are real problems that have nothing to do with palin per se, but you know the left will link them to her.
no, i don’t have any ideas as of yet- i just want to immediately point out any problems before anyone gets gung ho on this. it just came to mind because one of my best friends, who IS a liberal, and i were talking about animal slaughter and testing (non politics related).
and we don’t have time to educate people one person at a time on something like this.
WOW…Talk about an Eeyore post for the ages. Your post could be on the Greenpeace website for heaven’s sake.
Sarah Palin is a hunter. There is nothing wrong with hunting for food. With the exception of far-left kooks on the West Coast who think a minnow is more important than jobs and FOOD I do not know ONE PERSON who is against hunting. In fact, the majority of Americans have no problem at ALL with hunting.
All the things you listed are very far-left causes. Be careful where you get those facts. The “Go Vegan” community does a lot of work spreading that kind of information and a lot of it is false.
In fact…if you look up the websites advertised on those commercials that show poor little dogs and cats all tortured and stuff you find out that the money you donate to those TV commercials goes to activist groups that target the meat packing industries in this country. They target dairy farms and chicken farms and egg farms. They are part of the socialist far-left anarchy groups.
“All the things you listed are very far-left causes. Be careful where you get those facts. The “Go Vegan” community does a lot of work spreading that kind of information and a lot of it is false.” <—DUH. that is my point.
i'm not saying it's wrong or right; i am saying what just is.
the left has the advantage as it has been doing this for YEARS, and specifically, three years this summer to palin alone.
but a poll across america showing statistics does not reflect what everyone in your neighborhood is saying. if indeed you don't know anyone against hunting, good for you. my dad hunted, my uncles hunted, i actually know a lot of hunters. i have no problem with hunting (except trophy), but i know just as many people who do- no matter what. just because "64% of americans are hunters" doesn't mean that the 36% is going to go quietly into the night. if anything, they won't shut up the loudest about it.
I am not going to be intimidated by a small portion of the population. That has been THE problem for conservatives for the past 6 years.
The far left is a MINORITY but they have the loudest voice. Well guess what? I’m LOUDER and MORE OBNOXIOUS.
If they want to go float a boat with Bob Barker and chase whales then great…let them. But I am putting a hole in that boat and I’m telling everybody how stupid they are.
Don’t let hate groups intimidate you.
So, as usual, we should tread lightly because we’re scared of a vocal minority? Not going to happen this time. They can scream and whine all they want, but I will call them out as the hypocrites they are. Unless they use ZERO animal products (which, I’m sorry, they don’t), then they have no business talking. I don’t let my whining, not capable of reasoning, immature two-year-old call the shots, and I regard whiny liberals much the same way…except for the cute and lovable part.
Stephanie has a point. There are lots of ‘common knowledge’ stories out there. Cute, innocent, white baby seals are clubbed to death in Greenland and Norway I believe, but as they is snow and ice there, I’m sure it’s Sarah Palin’s fault.
Just because a person has no problem with hunters doesn’t mean they will embrace reindeer-looking caribou being hunted without knowing why. I can hear the Awwww’s now. I guess we have to educate the populace too.
I like the carnivores idea, like the Grizzlies. I know it’s a bit of a stretch but can we incorporate the Chicago Cubs or Bears into this? Other mascots? Moose are sort of fun. “Hey Rocky”….LOL
EEYORE alert.
Mamma Grizzly and her cubs. That’s my favorite vision of Sarah Palin.
this i like. i came back to see if there were ideas- mothers protecting their cubs- the original theme she started with after the election.
penguins are a community animal, and alaska/the natives have a community mentality that’s not super leftist- it’s kind of amish i think where you help your fellow man DO things, not just give them a handout. but the left does love themselves a community coming together too- the whole hillary “it takes a village”? tie that in with the resilience and independence of the grizzly…
maybe starting with animals not used for food and not necessarily so controversial at first and then easing in all of alaska’s animal species- it’s hard to make a point with say, a caribou, when the first thing that may pop into most people’s minds is that the wolf community is controlled so that alaskans can hunt caribou for food. nobody understands that there isn’t access to beef in alaska like there is in the lower 48 (i learned a lot about alaska from her first book that i never realized before!). it’s easy for everyone to just assume that alaska is no different than say, montana or washington….
But again, you’re assuming that the majority of people live in the city. The fact is…most people do not live in the city. The biggest population of people live out in the country.
The perspective of the news media (which is liberal) is pop culture…so people who have a pop culture perspective are basically brainwashed to begin with. But the MAJORITY of people are not buying into it. That is why we have a center-right country.
The majority of the big-mouth liberals ARE in the cities. Look at the red and blue county maps.
Penguins live in the Antarctic, and that’s not anywhere near Alaska. Rather at the opposite end, in fact.
So please don’t go with penguins as symbol for Sarah, whatever you do!
I’ve noticed over the past year or so that Alaska is completely taking over pop culture. Business and entertainment are totally banking on a Sarah Palin presidency. I think it’s indication that she is MUCH more popular with the general public than the left, and even much of the right, would like us to believe. Just look at how many documentaries and shows there are about Alaska now, and how many established TV shows are visiting the state for special episodes. The McDonalds Superbowl ad with the bears was just the latest example. If Sarah is truly as polarizing and unpopular as people say, then this stuff would have peaked back in 2008…but instead Alaska is becoming more and more popular. I haven’t seen the same interest in Hawaii or Chicago. Just sayin’.
True, and good point.
Yeah. Glad I’m not the only one noticing that one.
I think you hit on something – as a kid Hawaii was the frontier and America could not get enough Hawaii- Don Ho, the Brady Bunch Hawaiian vacation, the Flintstones in Hawaii, etc.
now all is Alaska – Northern Exposure, The Proposal (sandra Bullock and Betty White), ….Thanks Hollywood you are playing right into Sarah’s plans!
Yes, I noticed it too! Several PBS shows (more irony today,) lots of online ads even now in February! And that Bears McD ad was great- a bear family except it was the dad bear. I wonder now if they were Grizzlies.
I glanced at the bear in your photo, and was suddenly hit with the memory of the “Bear in the Woods” Reagan ads about the Soviets.
The connection between Reagan and Palin is no coincidence. There are similarities. Only now, The Bear is in our woods, watching out FOR us.

this is all good news. i am happy for this. when people start talking negative about sarah, i stop them with what i know that is positive. just yesterday my dad was saying she isn’t ready to be president and i shut him down with the fact that she accomplished more in the two years as governor than half the members of congress who’ve been there 10years plus. i won’t hear bs.
when dealing with my liberal friends, i try to do the subliminal thing of mentioning palin’s name, but talking about stuff that makes them think and question why they believe what they do. example:
talking about welfare and kids and schools. my friend worked with special ed kids in california. she isn’t for welfare, but she is a liberal. it upset her that they would have some good, bright kids but they had no accountability at home so they failed in school and had no discipline. she knew they were on welfare and mom was a crackhead and it broke her heart. that segued into welfare and having too many kids, then something about minorities and how they get assistance and poverty begetting poverty, which then moved into me saying something like “it’s crazy too- you know, people forget that alaska’s only been a state for like, 60 years or something, and they have problems like that with their natives- their eskimos or whatever they are- the government keeps trying to take care of them but then like, palin was running for governor and was trying to get them to stay independent because they have all these drug problems and stuff otherwise- it’s weird- stuff that the lower 48 has been doing for like, 100 years- you can literally see what happened to our country in real time by watching alaska repeat our mistakes! it’s almost instantaneous!”
the hopeful outcome is that she will put this in the back of her mind and think “yeah- wtf am i thinking voting for these people who keep perpetuating this crap?” when faced with the situation again.
but this is very slow on the national level. there needs to be something like this that can reach many people at once.
my whole point is not to let the left dictate like they have been. i’ll make it concise:
people are stupid. and the left has a market on them. keep this in mind with ideas to outsmart and counter them. and remember- people are stupid. especially the brainwashed ones.
the far left, you will never reach. those in the middle who awaken from their american idol coma- they are like those CFL bulbs- a little dim at first, but they brighten the longer they are turned on. and they’re the ones you need to reach before the left’s revival of ashley judd anti-palin spots, PETA’s anti-palin spots and anything else that has been used in the past. these people have unlimited resources and a plethora of willing shills who would say anything if it gives them more facetime.
Anyone out there know how to develop iPhone/iPad apps? It would be awesome to do something for Sarah like Kevins class vs crass stuff. Buy the 99 cent app, money goes to Sarah’s campaign, or even better do a free app then even the libs would down load it just to check it out…do the upgrade for 99 cents. Then you have a bunch of stuff on your phone to show people about Sarah. Plus then we can say Sarah has an app for that whenever O’bummer does something stupid! Make it a catch phrase, look up her statements on Gay rights, drilling, taxation etc…could be quite an excellent tool & the youth would love it! Plus me too!
put this in the open threads comments, and every relevent sarah thread so someone who does know how will see it (i don’t know how). i love the “sarah has an app for that”.
what a great idea! get messages out AND raise funds. Love It. And, be cutting edge as well.
I’d stick with the grizzly bear. She’s already known as a Mama Grizzly, so just the image would get the point across.
Heck, I’d love to hear someone do a re-write on the old Jim Croce song “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim”…just a little change, maybe figure out how to change the word Jim to Sarah.
“don’t mess around with palin”
What about “adopting” grizzly bears at the zoos ‘From’ Sarah P groups – zoo visitors (families and children) can see which nice people adopted the animals, it’s more name recognition and branding.
