PROJECT: Find the most ridiculous spin pieces by the Left out there today

Posted on November 3, 2010 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz

I can almost guarantee the most ridiculous spin piece written today for Democrats will be from the desk of Peter Beinart at The Daily Beast, because his essays are routinely the most absurd and out there pieces in digital print.  While adorable, he’s something of a mental patient. And his writing proves that on a regular basis.

But, what about the rest of the rogue’s gallery of Obama propagandists?  What are they saying today?

Can you find pieces written by the Left today, in the wake of last night’s Republican wave, that try to spin what happened as a good thing for the White House?

Can you find anything written by big-name Leftist writers that claim last night was actually a victory for Democrats?

How are these people spinning things to either take the blame away from Obama or create masturbatory fantasy worlds where Obama actually saved Democrats from some bigger defeat just by being Nobel-Prize-winning-awesome?

I’m curious to get a big picture look at what these nuts are up to, because then we can psychologically analyze these writings in total to get a better view into the Left’s mindset and where things are going for 2012.

For the very, very brave…those with cast-iron stomachs…can you maybe venture over to Daily Kos or other Soros-backed sites and see what those individuals are up to today?

How did they take last night’s rebuke…or do they instead see it as a BizarroWorld victory for Obama?

What’s the consensus?

NBC and CBS had some big ones starting last night!

Here, vote to send CBS Dave Price walking across America from Anchorage Alaska.

    Dave Price: No Way Home

    November 1, 2010 7:53 AM

Early Show weather anchor Dave Price will be dropped off – at a location decided by viewers – with just fifty bucks and a backpack and that’s all he’ll have to make his way back home.

How’s that workin’ for ya? I think I need to be medicated.

Barney, not the SLIGHTEST bit humbled by his win, says that “the campaigns of most Republicans are beneath the dignity of democracy.”

Surely, I will vomit if I hear one more Massachusetts liberal crow about how this shows how savvy our voters are, how they didn’t drink the Kool-Aid of Rush & Glenn, and how we’ll keep fighting for progress and will come out the leaders, showing the rest of the country the way to the future when they realize in 2012 that they’ve been duped.

I don’t have quotes, but on the Morning Joe show Joe actually asked one of his guests if it the major Dem losses could be attributed to their message. Seriously, someone still believes that the Dems recent actions could have been sold with better messaging??

Also, later in the show, John Heilemann asked Michael Steele to name some things the Republicans are willing to compromise on. Yeah, there’s nothing like a historic landslide to signal the electorate thirsts for nothing more than compromise.

Well, after all Liz, in a preemptive strike on Monday or Tuesday, Obama said that he thinks the problem with the 2010 election was that he and the Dems in Congress did not COMMUNICATE their policies clearly. Obviously he thinks that if they had just done a better job of COMMUNICATING what they were doing, we the sheeple would have fallen in line and thanked them, not voted most of them out of office.

So it appears the liberal media meme will be “a failure to communicate.”

What they don’t realize is that through their actions, if not their words, they communicated their intentions all too clearly. And “We the People” said “Hell no!!!”

      Can’t wait for 2012!!!!!

Here you go. I’m in Oklahoma, which went overwhelmingly Republican and passed some lovely state questions banning Sharia law, making English the official language, and saying nobody can be forced to have insurance/healthcare. We also rejected raising per-pupil funding. The leftists are having a fit.

I’ve had to do a little censoring, as they use language I do not use.

“Sigh. This state is f***ing stupid.”

“Way to go Oklahoma, I officially never want anything to do with the Midwest. Up until about a year ago, I’d listened to NPR out of habit, really, and the lack of anything else to listen to during the daily commute. I seem to recall it was at least listenable at some time in the past, but for years it has been nothing but one grievance group highlight after another. After coming home every day steamingly angry after listening to the assinine garbarge broadcast on NPR, I finally turned it off and have been so much more relaxed.

I was almost curious enough to turn it on this morning to see what sort of ridiculous spin they’d put on the leftist bloodbath, but if I’m understanding you correctly, they’re just ignoring it and giving little coverage to the elections? Or are you saying they’re covering Obama’s fiascoes but aren’t trying to make excuses for him?

Up here in Canada, the morning news was all sad. They were pushing the meme that the Tea Party really use the Republicans and caused them to have no chance at the Senate and lost them some gains in the House. They were actually talking about the Republicans needing to distance themselves from Tea Party influence if they want to have a future in the house and/or senate. And it wasn’t just one channel. It was like that everywhere, French English, it didn’t matter.

If there’s any foreign MSM that’s clueless about the US, it’s the Canadian media; the leftward tilt does not help at all. They had their own version of The One in the form of Pierre Trudeau (who nationalized the healthcare over there) back in the 70s and they feel nostalgic.

The Brits are a little more in touch with some Tory writers defending the Tea Party, but the Labor and Lib-Dems make trashing conservatarianism a varsity sport in the comments; they aren’t amused and still can’t wrap their minds around the idea of wanting a smaller government and dissenting against bureaucracy (as in the idea of what America was found upon). You see a trend in the comments about how confused and angry they are now that Americans no longer like The One (he has a 73% approval in Europe, for reference, wonder why).

Sorry, but our healthcare system is awesome. And it wasn’t Trudeau who nationalized it. It started with Tommy Douglas (NDP), the greatest Canadian ever and Keifer Sutherland’s grandfather, in Saskatchewan and later by the Pearson government nationwide.

The US is the only industrialized country to not have healthcare for everyone. And it’s in a really sad shape.

This is one issue I’m 100% opposed to the Tea Party and US conservatives. Hillary was the only one who could have done it correctly. But I am glad that Obama’s plan is going down. You need something better than that.

Much of the rest of the issues, I’m in agreement with Republicans this time around. But please don’t believe the brainwashing that our healthcare system doesn’t work or is bad. That is US propaganda and you’re only hurting yourself by believing it.

Where would Canadians go for the best health care if we became like the rest of the world?

I live in Michigan and, believe me, we get lots of Canadians here in our hospitals and, especially, MRI and other diagnostic facilities.

I love Canada and the people there, but unless you live near a big city,I’m iffy on the healthcare. My sons play hockey up there, and one of their teammates walked around with a misdiagnosed broken foot. Four months after he finally was able to get an MRI, they discovered the sprain that wouldn’t heal was in fact a broken bone. To quote his coach,”you get what you pay for”

None of the Canadians I know are enamored w/ their healthcare. Not a one. Many that I know cross the border and come to the Detroit area for their care OR complain about the stuff their getting in Windsor.

          LOL…hahahaha…good one!

          Oh, wait…are you serious, @MrX?

So…waiting months for an MRI in Canada is a good thing? Shorter lifespans and higher mortality for breast cancer and prostate cancer patients is superior to longer lifespans and better survival in our backwards, rube-filled little country? Waiting lists for virtually every procedure? Lotteries to “award” people a family doctor in some towns?

Sometimes, the USA is the only country that doesn’t do XYZ because we’ve learned from others’ boneheaded experiments in central planning.

The socialized governments in other countries have already killed too many of their own poor saps and we want nothing of the kind here.

Clearly the President’s idea of spin is to insist that he has compromised with Republicans in the past (huh??) and will continue to do so in the future.

Then to put things in perspective, he has talked about energy policy a minimum of three times. Seriously? Energy policy? He even mentioned greenhouse gases and the EPA considering that a pollutant. Translation: He’s going to let them regulate energy. Just unbelievable.

The man has learned nothing from last night.

I know it wouldn’t be productive, but I would just dearly love if the first time some of the new House leadership sits down with obama to “talk”….that the minute he starts to disagree with them in the slightest, one of them just holds up his hand in the “stop” motion and says, “Mr. obama. We won. The campaign is over.” and then tell him what they are going to do.

obama apparently does not understand that we really do know how rude he was 2 years ago.

For anyone who’s interested in such esoterica, I see that Christopher Hitchens has started the process of repositioning himself. http://www.slate.com/id/2273158/
For those of you who have lives, here’s a brief recap: Hitchens spent much of the 2008 presidential campaign craftily sitting on the fence until McCain chose Sarah as VP. Then he first wrote a sort-of equivocal piece on her, and later- after the mid-September 08 meltdown, when it became pretty clear McCain was in freefall- he turned quite viciously on the Repubs, but most especially on Palin. Between then and now,he’s consistently dismissed Sarah as a demagogical fundamentalist nutjob, and opposition to Obama as racist.
But in this latest piece it looks like he’s begun the long and arduous process of realignment: he finally tackles Obama’s race-baiting demagoguery as if he’d only just noticed it, wondering (in a faux-stupid way) why Obama won’t defend himself against his critics, like those crazy birthers and such, and speculating that it’s because he’s masochistic. The possibility that he won’t defend himself because the simplest defense- actually producing the birth certificate, the academic records, or whatever- would only confirm his critics’ accusations does not seem to enter Hitchens’ head. Instead, he mutters disapprovingly but rather pointlessly about the Jon Stewart rally, and then spends the last half of the article muttering disapprovingly about opinion polls.
Well, to strike a positive note: when such a hardcore opportunist as Hitchens begins dissing his side, it can only be good news for the opposite side. He hasn’t actually said anything positive about the Tea Party yet, and I doubt he ever will. But the fact that he finally sees the need to distance himself from Obama is a tiny thrill all by itself. But this is mostly of interest to those who follow Hitchens’ writings with appalled and disgusted fascination. I don’t suppose there are too many of us.

I don’t expect this bunch of odious liars to tell the truth about ANYTHING. That would be expecting too much. That is why they’re going out of business and not a moment too soon. We don’t need a state-supported press like in other countries. We need a press that holds both political parties accountable… not a press that picks sides and winners.

They can spin all they want… most of us know the deal and what’s truly going on. The rest of Americans who don’t are either in denial or are brain dead.

This was a good one. I was watching a little of Crazy Larry on MSNBC. Their echo chamber is in full spin mode. The last story was about Sarah Palin. First, she is a bad kingmaker because more than half of her endorsements won office. Of course, if she were Jimmy the Greek, I’d expect better. If she’s trying to tell people who the common sense conservatives are, she did a very good job. It’s just that some voters don’t have a lot of common sense. I mean, does anyone who votes for Harry Reid actually LIKE him?

And the best anti-Palin spin? Sarah Palin single-handedly lost the Senate. The Republicans would need 51 seats to overcome credit card Joe at his only Constitutionally proscribed job right now. There are 47 seats controlled by Republicans now (I’m calling Alaska GOP, but Princess Murkowski is crazy, so who knows). Fully four more seats would have to turn for them to have the Senate.

    1. Christine O’Donnell. O’Donnell is not a crazy tea partier. She was, in fact, the official Republican nominee for the Delaware US Senate Seat… in 2006. She had already run for the job and won the primary. So, why not have a rematch 4 years later? O’Donnell was a conservative Republican, but not a major player in the tea party movement. Palin endorsed her because she was so much more Republican than RINO Mike Castle? Would more Republicans and Democrats have voted for him as Senator? The exit polls say no.

    2. Sharron Angle. A dubious Mormon ran under the “Tea Party” label evan after Palin’s endorsement of Angle. Had Sue Lowden won, I suspect that other candidate would have gotten more than 0.8%, enough to give the contest to Reid anyway.

    3. Ken Buck. I don’t know that Palin campaigned that much for him. Plus, Tom Tancredo destroyed Republican turnout with his losing third-party campaign. That’s why the Tea Party didn’t run his own candidates.

I can’t even come up with a number 4. Palin’s leadership helped the GOP win 15 more seats in the House than expected, 2/3 of all Senate seats up for election, 10 pickups in governors races and 13 state houses. I guess the Senate wasn’t that big of a deal, since they haven’t had any power for the last 8 months since 41 was elected.

She’s a real party killer, that one. And by she, I mean Barack Obama.

David Frum isn’t on the left. He writes for National Review. But apparently he has a problem with the “radicals” of the Tea Party. http://theweek.com/bullpen/column/208911/tea-party-backlash

‘The radicals must not be allowed to claim the title of the real Republicans. They must not be allowed to dismiss the true electable, governing core of the party as “Republicans in Name Only.” If anything, it’s the Tea Party radicals with their incessant threats to bolt and form a third party who deserve that name.

‘…Mere non-answering was an improvement over Alaska’s Joe Miller, who actually had a reporter (illegally) arrested by his private security detail. The candidates who campaigned to save the country from President Obama’s “Afro-Marxist-fascist tyranny” proved themselves thoroughly contemptuous of the rights of others.

    ‘Goodbye and good riddance.’

    Frum is a jackass.
