Prayer Changes Things
Recently Kevin asked the HillBuzz family for prayers for Baby Astor, Justin’s niece, and her mother, Darcy. Astor was born early in an emergency c-section. She has had some life-threatening issues with her lungs and heart due to her early arrival. I was pleased, but not at all surprised, by the outpouring of love and prayer on Astor’s behalf. I also noticed in the comments section occasional requests for prayers, as well as stories of answered prayers to encourage others.
This got me thinking: what if we were to become more organized in our prayer for our nation, our global community, and one another personally? There is a scripture that says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” There seems to be a contingent of prayer warriors in this group who excel in this area. How might God intervene when he hears so many of us beseeching Him earnestly?
Starting this week we will be collecting prayer requests to share with readers. If you post a request in the comments section, the following week we can include it in the post, along with any updates you may wish to share. I truly believe this is one of the most effective action items in which those who choose to do so can participate. After all, we’re pleading our case to the Highest Source available.
Just a few considerations for posting:
* Try to state your requests in a positive manner. For example, rather than asking for intervention to “get so-and-so out of an elected office” perhaps we can ask for the best person to occupy that office.
* If you are requesting prayer on someone else’s behalf, a courtesy call to them might be appropriate. Sometimes we want the help of others, and sometimes we want our trials to remain private. Also, it might be a good idea to keep the identity of others confidential. Identifying an individual’s need without necessarily including their names (unless they ask for it be included) may be all we need.
* Don’t worry about any request being too general, or too trivial. It’s written that the very hairs of our heads are numbered. If God has that kind of detailed knowledge of and interest in us, we can bring anything to Him.
Please keep us updated of any progress when news is available. We love to hear how you and your loved ones are doing. It helps make our prayers more specific, too.
To start out this facet of HB’s action agenda, here are some areas for which we can be praying:
* Baby Astor’s continued positive progress and healing. Support and peace of mind for Darcy and her family during this trying time.
* That the American people wake up to what is happening in our country as it slides precariously toward socialism and (heaven forbid) despotism. That we as a nation once again embrace the values upon which this nation was founded.
* That the election process identifies a candidate who truly has a servant’s heart and has the good of the American people as his/her priority. That this person leads our countrymen back to our noblest selves so that we can address the needs of the nation and heal.
Please add to the list! Here we go . . .

Baby Astor, baby Astor, baby Astor…
Esther, consider a post for "answered prayers" — as a person who believes, coincidence is Gods way of acting anomolously, we should also take the time to post, when God has acted in our lives.
Especially when the answer a prayer may not exactly be what you were praying for… but God must have a sense of humor…
Excellent idea! Consider it done. I've always found that the answers to my prayers are outside of the possibilities that I had considered, and *always* greatly superior to anything I had concocted.
I don't want to intrude upon prayer requests, but I feel a need to share "My Prayer for My Country" with you. http://lgstarr.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-prayer-for…
Esther, I think your idea is the solution to the problems afflicting our nation and the world. I do pray that God will have mercy on our nation, that He will raise up righteous rulers who will rule with justice and mercy.
God said, If my people,w ho are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Isn't it interesting that "my people" are also known to have "wicked ways." We are all sinners saved by grace.
I would like prayer to know if I am supposed to run for office in my town and if so, what that office should be.
Thank you for posting this, Esther.
If you only watch one last video before voting, this should probably be the one. Most of the secrets of Obama are unlocked here… at least, as many secrets as possible in the short time since the "Most Secretive Candidate Ever" was nominated for the position of "Most Powerful Man on earth.

I have been thinking about how I was afraid Kevin and HillBuzz would disappear while Kevin was ill. In his absence, others stepped up to keep the site alive, becoming good bloggers in their own right in the process. But I am still concerned about the costs Kevin bears to keep the site alive.
So my prayer is that, today, 50 HillBuzz readers decide to give up one $5 choice each month and direct that $5 to HillBuzz through the Subscription link. I believe that when we develop an attitude of gratitude we grow in character. In my opinion, we readers have grown in understanding of the real battle we face for the soul of our country, because of Kevin's conversion to conservatism. This is worth $5 a month.
Heavenly Father, please work in the hearts of HillBuzz readers today, and awaken them to the benefits of helping HillBuzz remain online. Help us see that most of us can easily afford a $5 subscription, and make us thankful enough for HillBuzz to get us off the couch and to the "Subscribe" button. Please bless Kevin's work and the work of all who post here, protect them as they do their important work on behalf of America. Make us worthy of their effort, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
Tomorrow I will have to go to jail for DUI (stupidly, second violation); I am grateful that I have never hurt anyone, but I am sick, sad and lonely. I will have to leave my estranged wife and the kids to fend for their own. Please pray for me to give me strength and for my family.
I just prayed one very heartfelt prayer for you. Expect some angels to arrive to make you feel less lonely. Everything will be ok.
Reading this breaks my heart, coregis. We have all done stupid things, and some of us have walked away without having to pay the price. You are paying the price, and I am praying that this will be the start of a new you, one who thinks before acting. I pray that your family will be healed by the miraculous transformation you will make in jail.
Remember, many of Jesus' disciples spent time in jail. They wrote the letters that were included in the Bible from jail.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Intreresting that this would come up now. Myself and a couple other epiople are currently working on a site specifically geared towards this exact same thing. It isn't finished, but we are hoping for a launch date in February some time. It is a site where people from all walks of life and having different relationships with God to come together and pray for our country. Prayer really does change everything, and we plan on changing things through prayer.

My neighbor and good friend, just lost her Dad and Mom is in poor health. Thanks.
What a wonderful idea! I belong to the SKY.fm radio community and started a prayer thread for our members last year. Count me in. I'm happy to pray for those in need. My friend Sue F. just had mouth cancer surgery. The doctors removed five teeth and parts of bone. Her mouth is still too sore to talk. She is a wonderful person/friend. Prayers would be much appreciated.
I would also like to send out continuing prayers for the unemployed (myself included). Especially the older unemployed (myself included) who are at a further disadvantage. Dr. James Manning recently started a "Prayer for 10,000 Jobs."
