Open Letter to Mitt Romney: I apologize for mocking and doubting you and I THANK YOU for running the campaign that will defeat Barack Obama and the Left

Posted on October 23, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // Best of Hillbuzz, Featured Content

Dear Governor Romney,

I’m writing this letter to you the morning after the last of the presidential debates to apologize to you personally for doing absolutely everything I could think of for four years to stop you from becoming the 2012 Republican nominee. I really didn’t know a thing about you, except that you had a lot of kids, were Governor of Massachusetts, and looked like an old movie star…and that you came in second last time to John McCain and somehow I got it into my head that this should have disqualified you from running again this year (or that it meant you’d repeat McCain’s anemic campaign and not even try to give Barack Obama a run for his money). Boy, was I stupid..because after these debates and the campaign you’ve run I have come to realize you’re one of the best political strategists I’ve ever studied…and you are a man who has clearly answered the call of duty when our country needed you the most.  I am sorry for not giving you a fair chance until you became the nominee, but I’m beyond grateful I have the opportunity today to do anything I can to help your campaign in this home stretch.

What you have managed to do in this general election will be studied and written about for years because even many Republicans have no clue how smart you’ve played things.  A lot of people are going to have pleasantly bewildered faces on November 6th as the electoral college results pour in and it becomes clear why you did everything you did for the last several months; it’s going to be like the end of one of those old M. Night Shyamalan films where the pieces all fit together and the audience finally gets the big “twist”.  I actually plan on watching MSNBC for the results because I want to see Chris Matthews, Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow and the other loathsome clowns on that Democrat propaganda network have real-time meltdowns and psychotic breaks as state after state is declared another addition to your victory column.

It will indeed be morning in America again for our country…while the Left’s media operatives mourn Barack Obama’s crushing defeat.

You’re going to win this by about 70-80 electoral votes (or actually more), but I think you know that already.  My home state of Ohio is going to put you over the top and I think you might even win my home county of Cuyahoga, which would be the first time a Republican did that in forever. I pray every night that you have as structured and brilliant a plan to restore our country to a path of prosperity as you did charting your road to the White House through this presidential campaign.  Because what you are going to achieve in two weeks will be epic…and what you’ll do after that will be nation-saving.

I can’t say it enough, Governor:  I am sorry I didn’t stop to learn more about you years ago when I decided I wouldn’t support your nomination largely because I felt you were the “it’s his turn” candidate and I wanted someone flashier and more aggressive to really hammer Obama left and right through the campaign.  Truth be told, I’m a big supporter of Governor Sarah Palin and I wanted her to run and lead a Momma Grizzly charge down from Alaska to drive Obama out of Washington…but Governor Palin chose not to run and I had to respect her decision (even though it honestly broke my heart for a while…so I hope she’ll be considered for a Cabinet position in your administration if she would be inclined to serve in one, such as the Secretary of Energy perhaps?). Like a little kid who didn’t get his way, I was mad for a while that I couldn’t vote for Palin for President this year and resented you for wanting the nomination because I still couldn’t get the “it’s his turn” perception out of my head.  I then jumped around, supporting anyone who seemed even remotely likely to beat you  in the primaries…and when that guy collapsed I leaped to the next momentary “not-Romney” frontrunner.  I never did allow myself to even consider you as an option because, well, I was a seriously committed “Anyone But Romney” guy just because I felt a stupid grievance against you for trying again after coming in second four years ago to McCain. I also didn’t like a lot of the young staffers here in Chicago from your 2008 campaign, including an ex-boyfriend of mine; I was petty and wrong to transfer my negative feelings for these random people onto you or to be prejudiced against you because I didn’t like some of your eager beaver campaign volunteers.

After you secured the nomination I realized I had to grudgingly learn some things about you because I know that America will not survive another term of Barack Obama; his spending, his desire to decimate our military, and his belief that the United States is just one of many countries in the world and is not the least bit exceptional would destroy us if he’s allowed four more years.  I believe Obama’s wasted Trillion in stimulus back in 2009 and the disaster that is Obamacare in 2010 actually pushed us into what will soon be recognized as an economic Depression.  The only reason it’s not being addressed as such is because the national media (which I call the Ministry of Truth, since it’s become a propaganda service for the Democrat Party) will not use the “D” word (for Depression) as long as someone with a (D) after his name sits in the Oval Office.  I have friends who have not had steady work since Barack Obama took over…and these are people with advanced degrees! Obama just does not get it…and life will only get worse for most of us if he’s re-elected.

I honestly believed it would take someone combative and larger-than-life to defeat Obama and mocked you for four years as being too milquetoast and mild. I actually called you a soggy cucumber-and-mayonnaise sandwich and derided you as the Cocktail Party establishment’s pick, because I thought the Republican Party just wanted to throw the election by running the guy who lost to John McCain to then go out and lose to Obama again.  I feel like such a fool today and am ashamed of myself for making fun of you in my effort to resist your nomination.  As a result of my myopia in this regard, I completely missed how uniquely talented you really are to get us out of this Depression and reinvigorate business growth and hiring in this country again.

I didn’t even feel like we as a nation had a future because, especially between 2008-2010, the Left seemed to have triumphed and gained control of all the levers of power.  One crazy thing after another was rammed through Congress and almost everyone in the Cabinet was either a buffoon or a lunatic who often gleefully enacted orders from the Left to purposefully sabotage our country.  I honestly believe that Eric Holder, Kathleen Sebelius, Steven Chu, Susan Rice, Tim Geithner, Ken Salazar, Ray LaHood, and others that Barack Obama brought to Washington with him have deliberately done intentional harm to the United States because that’s what the Left plotted to do for the thirty years these dangerous loons were last exiled to the political wilderness.

I believe on November 6th that your election to the presidency will be similar to Ronald Reagan’s in that the Left will be sent to the Phantom Zone yet again…and that you and Vice President Ryan will succeed in keeping these threats to our country banished for many years to come.

I was too young to ever say this to President Reagan, or to have even been aware of the election of 1980…but THANK YOU, Governor Romney, for standing up and agreeing to answer the call to duty that you heard in America’s time of great need.  THANK YOU for having the class and grace to keep running for the nomination when fools like me mocked and doubted you or just assumed you wanted to be president to fill out your resume.  Clearly, your resume needed no such padding and you could have done anything you wanted with your life…or just enjoyed your family and your grandkids and lived in comfort somewhere warm and carefree.  But, instead you chose to serve when you no doubt realized that you had the skill set and the experience to save America from ruin.

I’ve always believed that when a time of great crisis threatened the United States that the stars would align, the Fates conspire, and a loving and awesome God would bless this nation with a champion perfectly suited to lead the way back to safety, prosperity, and freedom.  In our past we’ve had men like Washington and Lincoln answer that call…and more recently Reagan.  And now, when we needed someone with the extraordinary ability to save great institutions from debt-driven ruin we have the man who will soon become President-Elect Romney.

Thank you for stepping up to save the country I love, Governor.  Thank you for running a positive and uplifting campaign that has focused on what makes this nation great and the unlimited potential of its people.  Thank you for reaching out to all Americans and telling them that they have a real choice in this election and that, if they choose you, they will elect a man who will serve honorably and work hard every day he is in office.  Thank you for humbly asking for our votes last night at the close of the debate and for promising you will earn and keep our trust as you lead the way back to our shared and bright American future.

I am a gay guy in Chicago who was a lifelong Democrat until 2008 when my former party fired up the Alinsky Death Star and blasted all of us Hillary Clinton supporters because the Left wanted Obama in office so every crazy thing his fellow travelers had always wanted to do to the country could be forced on us in Obama’s name.  I saw that the Democrat Party had become completely controlled by the Left…and that the party had shunted conservative Democrats from the Midwest like me to the side as “bitter clingers”, like how Obama put it himself back in 2008.  It took me a while to warm up to the idea of being a Republican because I thought of the GOP as the party of guys like McCain, whom I never had any confidence in as a leader.  I felt such a heavy sense of dread on my heart for the longest time during the Obama regime because I knew another candidate like McCain could not beat Obama.

That’s the one thing I got right about you, it turns out, because you ended up being nothing like what I expected you to be.  The more I read about your past and the things you accomplished, the more I genuinely started to like you.  The things you have done to help people your entire life shame me for not maintaining such a life record of service and love to my fellow human beings.  You weren’t just a successful businessman, a talented Governor, and the rescuer of the Olympics…but you were one of the most amazing husbands and fathers I’ve ever heard of…and a true role model for all of us as Christians in this country.

I am awed by your consistent commitment to your faith and your pronounced devotion to charity and modesty. I am a lapsed Catholic who is heading back to mass because I want to reconnect with the spirit and grace that drives someone like you, even if my Christianity is not expressed the same way as yours.

We are all so very lucky to have a man like you running in this race because you have proved that a decent person who has lived a good life can indeed succeed in whatever he sets out to accomplish without ever playing dirty or stooping to the tactics of the Left.  I still don’t know quite how you did it, but I will probably spend the rest of my career trying to figure this out…but Governor you systematically and expertly eliminated every advantage that Barack Obama had coming into this race and mooted any possible attack he could make against you.

Last night at the final presidential debate, your calm demeanor and focus on the big picture made Obama seem small and petty by constantly attacking you.  While his base on the Left loved this, it alienated independents and undecideds and showed you to be an unflappable leader who could deal with just about anyone when sitting down at a table to hammer out a solution to big problems.  Barack Obama looked like just a community organizer who’d wandered in off the street to start ridiculous personal fights…while meanwhile YOU looked like the actual president.

Your entire campaign has reduced Obama from the pharaoh-like demigod the Ministry of Truth pumped him up to be (remember his bizarre cult-like ascendancy in a styrofoam Greek temple in Denver four years ago?) to a bewildered, stammering, and utterly deflated wreck (like he was, again in Denver, in the first of your debates…proving what a big difference four years could make). What’s most astonishing about this is that the national media still doesn’t quite realize you did it…and they are still believing their own hype that Obama’s the powerful “Lightbringer” they claimed he was back when his “Hope and Change” fad was the rage that swept the nation (and him into office).

I underestimated you, Governor Romney.  I didn’t properly investigate your record before I wrongly made up my mind about you.  I had no idea at all you were THIS GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO…but you have completely blunted every once-magical power the Ministry of Truth afforded Obama…and you rendered him the precise opposite of the inevitable victor the media still so desperately tries pretending he’ll be.

I may have stupidly aligned against you in the past but am smart enough to see that your strategies have worked so far and will indeed carry the day in a fortnight when Obama and the Left will indeed be defeated…all because your positive and solutions-driven campaign was the pitch-perfect remedy to all of Obama’s failings.

I am asking everyone I know to rally behind you, not just in the last days of this election but during your presidency too.  I promise that as long as you keep working hard for America and keep serving as a role model for us all that I will support you in all that you do in the years ahead.  I am proud to have you as our next president and look forward to doing everything I can in my own ways to ensure your message gets out to as many people as possible.

Never did I think I’d say this, but I am thrilled to be voting for Mitt Romney for President and to be an out and proud Romney supporter.

I wear a campaign shirt with you and Mr. Ryan on it wherever I go here in Chicago and you should be encouraged to know that even in Barack Obama’s “hometown” people are looking to your election with great and real hope because they know you will deliver where your soon-to-be-predecessor failed.

Thank you for answering this call to duty and for agreeing to serve the American people as our leader and role model in Washington when it’s clear we needed you — PRECISELY YOU — most.

Respectfully,

Kevin DuJan

Chicago, Illinois

PS — Please make Congressman Allen West either your Secretary of Defense or Secretary of State because he is beyond awesome and is a future president himself. I am grateful to you for picking Mr. Ryan as your VP because he is a future president as well…so now please position Congressman West for his own rendezvous with destiny too.

You nailed it, thanks for making it easy for me to reply! GREAT job and I was the same, saying I was going to vote for ABOR. Anybody but Obama and Romney. Boy was I wrong.

Beautiful letter Kevin. I was also a Romney resistor until it got down to him and Santorum– Newt was still in it and I like his angry badger persona but there was no chance in my mind Newt could win it. Santorum allowed himself to be drawn off on social issues, and though I tend to be a social issue voter (abortion mainly), he just didn’t seem like he’d work out.

When I finally looked at Romney to see if he was as bad as everyone on other sites I read said he was– I found I liked him. Sure he seemed moderate as governor, but of MA. But most importantly, here was a person who loved his country and didn’t think the foundational principles needed to be changed. He’s a good speaker. He’ll appoint people who know their jobs in areas he’s weak. (John Bolton Sec State!) The more I watched and read and listened, the more I liked him and thought, “Why wasn’t he a real choice for me instead of the ABO guy?”

As and aside, like after the last debate– this morning many of my liberal facebook friends are crowing about an Obama win. They liked that Obama was so aggressive and “in your face” and “Romney didn’t know what to do with that.” Huge gap between our political cultures– because when I was a Leftist, I’d have liked that too.

I’ve been reading your column for weeks, and this is my first time to comment. This letter, Kevin, is remarkable. It’s as if you formed for me what I’ve been thinking but unable to express. And I’d give my right arm for your level of confidence and optimism. I am having a hard time believing in our voters, and, as well, believing this election will not be “fixed.” You and your writing have given me the jolts of hope I have so badly needed. Thank you, thank you, and God bless you. I hope … I so hope … you’re completely correct in your projected election results.

Thank you Kevin for that wonderful letter. Every word of it is just like the journey I have been on since Oct. 5 2011. I thought she would run, and never considered that she wouldn’t. Mitt was never on my radar screen. He is now and I will be happy to cast my vote for him on Nov. 6.

I was trying hard to figure out a way to cogently explain my preference for Romney in 2008 until now, but it’s sort of like computing the sum of a sparse array — I can tell you that the end result is “I like Romney” but it was hard to enumerate all of the particulars because there were a lot of data points that didn’t just leap out and make you go “wow.”

McCain was such a horrible candidate (well, he didn’t win here in Michigan, as I recall — I voted for Romney then too!) that I’m glad to relegate him to the dung-heap of presidential candidate hasbeens.

Well, I finally got around to hitting the tip jar… you should get Justin to start blogging the TL;DR versions :) I take it he’s still playing SW:TOR?

Beautifully written letter Kevin. I would love to see your predictions about Cuyahoga County come true. I will be at the Board of Elections as a Romney volunteer after the polls close for the count. I am to be stationed in an East side poll during the day with no registered Republicans making sure everything is being done by the rules. Everyone volunteering wants to go to Rocky River or Fairview Park. Not me! I l love the “hood. I am only a transplant here but I love Cleveland and you are EVERYTHING I love about the people here. And think about this, having a hard fought primary, with passionate supporters from different candidates ensures an energized and motivated support network.

We are informed, we are engaged. We were never told to “fall in line”. We know everything about Mitt, the press has been raking him over te coals since the nomination (before really) . . . Bath house Barry has been president for almost 4 (disastrous) years and there is so much we still don’t know about him.

Being from Massachusetts and honestly, not knowing as much as I should have about Mitt Romney in the beginning, it is not without a bit of humility that it took a while to see that Romney is a leader of consequence, and one that might spend time hiding his light under a bushel, so to speak – he did an amazing job in MA, considering the odds stacked 80 plus percent to the opposition.

A year ago when he first came onto the scene our dearest friends were visiting and all of us being born-again (me from some pretty crazy stuff), talked about how we would feel if he were President, seeing as how he is a Mormon. We talked about how our country was born in religious freedom, we currently had a president that looked like he was a Muslim, what was most important was that he was a successful business man.

As the year progressed and one by one he felled his party opponents I knew this man had good advisors, had a plan (that he smartly kept close to the vest) and knew what he was doing. I had seen him interviewed and very ably set aside answers that his detractors – the minirue – wanted to catch him on.

As we head into the last couple of weeks I am excited to be reading Kevin’s site. In some ways I feel like we are the French Resistance in WWII. I live in MI, so no commercials for me by either. In FL there was one stupid radio one by Obama that went over and over again about the 47′%. That is OLD news! Can’t he come up with something newer than that? Oops!! I forget, that is how the next four years will be. Nohing new.

I was in a sea of half the people in the country at Magic Kingdom yesterday and saw no signs there was an election going on.

But you were right about the Hall of President’s Kevin. Not only do they need to do the animitronics, but the map they give out like Obamaphones comments on “now we have president Obama on stage” or something like that. All of it and any advertising with that information will have to be redone.

Bravo, Kevin. Well said! Like others here, you speak for me on your “Second Thoughts” on Romney. Yet in looking back, I know smart guys like Hugh Hewitt and others I respected were campaigning for Romney last election cycle. Most of my cyber-friends were really down on Romney. I was indifferent on him. For me the turning point was the Glenn Beck special on Romneys quiet good works. That changed everything. Then I was able to see how close his family is. And then I see how Mitt Romney honors the memory of his father and I love those old pictures of a young Mitt Romney swinging his short little legs as a boy in a chair as his father, George, looked so big sitting at his big desk. I saw that Romney knows campaign because his dad took him out campaigning. I’ve seen Romney work it on the campaign trail day after day with joy and zest and energy! Glenn Beck also has apologized for his doubts and criticism of Romney. Like you I do believe this is Romney’s time. It is Providence. The Lord has revealed in so many ways the dark side of the current President and now has revealed the light and strength of character in the man who will be our next president. Let us work toward electing this most deserving man of this time. God bless you! BTW, glad you are on OUR side! You are a mensch!

The stories about Romney and how he conducts his life on a personal level are amazing. I am so looking forward to election night. It will be big and Gov. Romney will be on the stage with Ann by his side chanting “We did it!” I can’t wait.

I hope we can do a good job supporting Romney and his family as President, so that this country and the world will once again see the power of simply being a decent, honest, competent person.

YOU should also be offered a position in our next Presidential Office! Secretary of Education for Good Manners perhaps?…..That is sorely lacking nowdays!!!

I’m not trying to sound brilliant or anything, but I got it about half-way through the debate that he was just letting Obama screw himself. Letting the country see AGAIN what their eyes haven’t been seeing. He’s not fit. I was watching Twitter and getting really tired of the conservative pundits criticizing Romney for not hammering Obama…you know. I have learned enough about Romney to know he studied the last two debates and swerved a different way than they had planned for.

I feel ignorant to have let the left sell me Cartoon Romney. They are clever, but I think Romney and his campaign have ran a stealth campaign that is catching them off guard at the end. I really feel confident now.

The fact that he didn’t bring up things the right wanted out will be talked about non-stop today (and is). So it IS getting talked about.

Yeah, I was watching Twitter (didn’t even bother to watch the debate – really didn’t want to hear that grating voice again) and boy, were they freaking out over why Romney wasn’t being aggressive. But I was keeping in the back of my mind that, just maybe his strategy was to show that he could keep his cool no matter what. If he could do that during a foreign policy debate, how would he do when he would have to enter tense negotiations with the Bad Guys?

Kevin this is an awesome letter! We could be the same person – you articulated my journey to Romney as well starting with campaigning for Hillary, then going to Palin (being heartbroken about her not running), then ABO… I’m still very skeptical about Romney, though. His global warming stance compared to Perry’s “global warming is a hoax” and Santorum’s resounding take-down of an alarmist puts him firmly in the “progressive” category.

In addition, in the second debate, he said “we all believe in the same God.” I had this argument in my school district with the superintendent. They were showing a video during the Islam section of World History in 7th Grade. The video said the same thing. Muslims want everyone to believe that we all believe in the same God but we do not. They do not believe in the trinity or that Jesus was the son of God. This is key. Maybe Mitt was referring to Jewish, Christians, and Mormons believing in the same God?

I liked what I heard last night about cracking down on jihadists but I didn’t like the part about helping them financially. We are throwing $$ and security at them already and look where it has gotten us. They need a huge lesson and all American aid should stop. We need to send them a message. Maybe they will destroy themselves on their own, who knows. Without us buying their oil, they cannot survive.

I dont think Romney is conservative enough. I don’t like the working across the aisle talk for the most part. It’s about time conservatives had a chance to implement their policies fully without liberal ideas muddying the water. I want conservatives in Congress to be able to do what they need to do so that we can see how successful those policies are!! The Republicans have caved to much. It’s our turn.

Thanks for letting me vent and thanks for all you do. Your dinner last night made my mouth water. I hope you both enjoyed!

Romney was my guy, albeit reluctantly, in 2008. An aside on the debate last night, where Obama’s last flailing desperation had him mocking Romney about supposed lack of naval knowledge, the same “navy corpse-man” Obama, it was clear to me that we heard just about the full extent of the president’s understanding of our naval forces in those few seconds. The issue remains unchanged, however, that our navy and naval aviation are absolutely crucial for the defense of the homeland and global stability abroad. For Obama, these concerns are merely a distraction standing in his way. There’s the plain truth.

    Excellent, excellent essay.

In 2008 I thought Romney was the best candidate for the Republicans, because he appeared presidential. I didn’t follow the primaries as closely as I did this year, mainly because I didn’t think there was a chance that the GOP would nominate McCain or Huckabee. I figured they’d go with someone smart and capable to defeat Hillary or the Junior Senator from Illinois.

I’m kind of glad they didn’t. In some ways, I think it was Divine Providence that Mitt didn’t get the nomination in 2008. Nobody was going to defeat Obama and the left and their media cohorts. If a Clinton couldn’t do it, there was no way a Republican, after 8 years of Bush (who I still respect and think was a good president who made some errors, particularly in terms of spending) was going to win. The deck was stacked.

But in 2012? After we tried the failed experiment of having a Community Agitator turned Junior Senator from Illinois as president, the time for Romney was right.

Not knowing much about Mitt until this last summer/fall, I would have pegged as an inside the Beltway, Cocktail Party, Establishment type. The truth is, I think he’s anything but. First off, the Romneys are not the cocktail party types. Mitt’s been a successful governor and businessman, but he’s never resided in DC (until 1/20/13, that is). He’s not really an insider. Many of his top level campaign staff has been with him since he was governor. A lot of my preconceived notions about Gov. Romney have proven false.

I think a lot of people have realized this as well. I can’t wait to vote on November 6 (PA doesn’t have early voting, beyond absentee ballots–which in some respects is how I think it SHOULD be, what happened to sanctity of Election Day?), I can’t wait to pitch in with the Election Day Task Force, I can’t wait to see this country back on the right path!

I’m certain your letter is a testimonial Governor Romney will value as he is elected the 45th President of this great nation. Kevin, I read your words from beginning to end, describing exactly how I felt as well as the transition I experienced once I started learning Mitt is a truly exceptional human being. He, along with Ann and their beautiful family, will bring honor and true American values back to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave on January 20, 2013.

To that point, and especially since you are an Ohio native, we could use boots on the ground the next two weeks. Would you and/or any of your readers consider traveling to Ohio and help Mitt win this state? The momentum is here but we need a concerted effort to GOTV, by going door to door or making calls. There are 2 weekends left to “Let’s Get This Done” and any help would be appreciated. Knocking on doors (and encouraging voters to VOTE EARLY) is the avenue we prefer these next two weeks but making phone calls from a Victory Center works as well. IF knocking on doors or making calls isn’t your thing, you could help by teaming up and driving while your campaign buddy makes door knocks. Unfortunately, if you were to travel to help us, the campaign does not reimburse for travel expenses, but will provide food and drinks at the Victory Center during volunteer hours.

The last two weekends we have had 30 volunteers come in from TN and my brother texted me last night and informed me the Myrtle Beach Tea Party is heading to Wilmington, OH.

Here is the link for all the Ohio Victory Centers.

    http://www.mittromney.com/states/ohio

Please consider it. Any and all help will help Mitt Romney win Ohio, it’s very close at present.

Kevin, this is such a wonderful letter – you manage to articulate what so many of us feel. I was not a Romney fan either – and when they demonized Herman Cain (my first choice) and destroyed my hopes, I was angry and just decided not to care. I would have voted for anyone the Republicans put up there against Obama. But I always feel just a bit dirty when I vote against someone (although it has only happened twice with Bob Dole and John McCain – but they were the lesser of two evils for me) rather than proudly FOR someone. But I, like you, have learned about Mitt Romney and am impressed by him, humbled by him and yeah, a bit in love with him I think! Ronald Reagan was my height of the Presidency – the bar that was raised, THE city on the hill, but Mitt Romney has attained Reagan’s level on almost all counts. He is a good, decent, giving, strong and smart man – I can hardly wait to vote for him on November 6th!!!!!

Obama looked like a voracious dog on the hunt for a bone.

As I watched, all I could think was, “Wow. Romney’s internal polling must be much better than anyone even suspects.”

In support of my theory, today Obama is in Ohio, a state that he supposedly had in his pocket and Romney is in Co. and Nv., two states that were out of his reach just a couple of weeks ago.

This is shaping up to be a butt whooping of biblical proportions for Obama in a mere couple of weeks.

    Excerpts from your letter:

    1. “The things you have done to help people your entire life shame me for not maintaining such a life record of service and love to my fellow human beings.” YES. Personally, service to others has been on my mind a lot the past year, and President Romney (can’t help it, that’s how I think of him and have for a while) has also inspired me in this way.

    2. “I am awed by your consistent commitment to your faith and your pronounced devotion to charity and modesty. I am a lapsed Catholic who is heading back to mass because I want to reconnect with the spirit and grace that drives someone like you, even if my Christianity is not expressed the same way as yours.” Yes, again! I have been going back to mass more over the past year, and have started saying the rosary. Romney’s history of faith and service are inspiring. How long has it been since we had a President who inspired us to greater things?

    3. “Last night at the final presidential debate, your calm demeanor and focus on the big picture . . . . showed you to be an unflappable leader who could deal with just about anyone when sitting down at a table to hammer out a solution to big problems.” Exactly – part of the brilliance of the man and the brilliance of his campaign strategy. Unlike Obama, the human chameleon who mirrors back to people what they want to see, Romney stays grounded at his center and calls on the aspects of his character that are needed in the moment.

The true mark of an individual with character is when they can admit that they were wrong.

Kevin, you’re certainly not the only one in this situation – Romney was my 4th choice in the GOP primary, but as I’ve watched the campaign unfold he has surpassed all expectations. The shenanigans of the GOP establishment and worries about a repeat of wimpy McCain’s campaign (which, IMHO, deliberately gave the election to Obama), contributed to my reluctance about Romney.

Every day, Romney shows us that he is the right man, appearing at the right time, for this job. Considering America’s dire straits right now, I think Divine Providence is at work in giving us this candidate.

Just remember, its not enough to talk the talk. Romney has
to walk it. And he hasn’t done that yet. We are hopeful he will.

Kevin, you and others supported Palin because of her great

I don’t want to jinx this but I saw this and started sending money to Mitt before the primary.

I am old enough to remember Carter to Reagan. I was in my 20′s, newly married. We bought our first house at an interest rate of 13% and we were happy to get that. Rates under Carter had exceeded 16% and Reagan had only been in office about 8 months at the time, but the economy took off like a rocket as soon as he was inaugurated.

The thing is people disliked Reagan and leveled many of the same criticisms as they did at Mitt. I recognized the same characteristics in Mitt and he followed the same path. Reagan didn’t win the first time he ran and so on. The party wanted a real conservative not a perceived California actor/rino.

I have a daughter, pre-med at Rice in Houston. I am hoping with all I have that Romney becomes her Reagan.

I have never worked so hard or donated so much to support a candidate. I hope our national nightmare is about to end.

These days voting early gives the candidates information on specific areas that they can concentrate on for the next two weeks I personally don’t want Obama to know about my voting buddies and how many we drive to the polls two weeks before election day. If you noticed Pravda has been quick to report any areas where early polling is running for Obama but ignoring where he is in trouble. Early voting shows Obama is way down in Nevada so he’s going there two days before the election. To me early voting = TMI.

Thank you for this comment! I was in high school when Reagan was elected and remember this well. I was brought up without TV and read newspapers voraciously as a result, so my awareness of politics started early.

One thing that has concerned me in recent years has been the saintification of the Reagan era. I suppose this happens over time as it has to Washington and Lincoln and even JFK. Politics is never clean, and there were many, many powerful conservatives that did not think Reagan was nearly conservative enough. He was too nice to the “enemy.” I find it frustrating now when those same people claim the cloak of Reagan. I even remember how aghast they were at his tear down this wall speech which they now praise him for.

That is the difference between political leaders and political hacks. It is the difference between a great actor and a great leader.

Romney is a leader. He understands what it takes to accomplish things. He has the ability to bring people together. He will make mistakes just like Presidents Reagan and George W. but when his term is over, America will be in a much better place and I will feel incredibly blessed to have lived in a time when I was able to experience three great presidents.

Thank you Kevin, for this wonderful letter. I too am reluctant Romney supporter. I was a Ron Paul supporter since forever, because I believe we have turned our back on what has made us great–our liberty. As a country, we didn’t become free because we were prosperous, we became prosperous because we were free. As we lose our liberty, we lose our prosperity.

But I was struck by how Romney treated Ron Paul during the primary debates. He always treated Dr. Paul with respect, unlike Giuliani and others in 2008. That set the tone for the other candidates. The two families became friendly on the primary trail and there were numerous times during the primary debates when Romney would defer to Dr. Paul about the Constitution.

That showed two things. One, Romney is smart and confident enough to ask an expert for his opinion. And two, Romney could be reasoned with. If you show Romney the country’s P&L statement, he will figure out how to fix it. I loved it when Romney asked during the first debate, “Is this program worth going into debt to China?” He gets it.

Looking forward to a bright and prosperous future with President Romney!

P.S. Offered a Hail Mary for your return to Mass. Deo gratias,

That letter brought me here! I remember it made me cry and remember what it was like to have an honorable couple in the White House.

I knew going in that Romney could not get into the weeds over Libya or the announced withdrawal date from Afganistan. The problem with foreign affairs is that gotcha points might have to be cashed by our military and I was relieved that Romney understood that. I still did not understand exactly what he was up to until about a third into the debate. The excessive agreement and not pointing out that Obama announcing the Osama hit would have given our people enough time to actually use the piles of info they took out of Paaakeestain (and thank you, God. Romney doesn’t do the pretentious pronounciation!) The treasonous “leaks” by Obama’s administration. So much to get this man on.

But then I watched the man-child in action. He was a total putz. Abominal behavior and I understood that Romney baited the hook and Obama bit. Hard.

Kevin, you expressed something of my own journey–and I had the added problem of being an ex-Mormon, so I had a lot of hurdles to jump to get to whole-hearted support and admiration. I think the attack on Ann Romney turned me. I LUV Ann Romney.

BTW, except for that leather thing she wore on Leno, I absolutely love her style. Her dress last night was perfect. I liked Michelle’s dress too, but frankly thought it was too cocktail for the occasion. That woman really has no taste whatsoever and no sense of the occasion (blue with a amo belt for Memorial day?!!!). I don’t think I’ll ever recover from the Michael Jackson padded shoulder’s coat and the painted on pants she wore to get slimed in.

Anyway, Kevin, you are a lovely man. Gracious, honest and a heart as big as this wonderful country. I’ve sent many a reader to this site and they’ve all loved it.

    This letter is awesome, Kevin.

You have put into beautiful words what so many of us have felt and thought since 2008 and that election campaign with the dreadful result.

If it were possible to have a signature collection for your letter, I think not one here would not be able and willing to sing off on every word you wrote.

    Thank you!

I went to bed early. I didn’t want to have to watch our side defend itself against Obimbo and the moderator – so I skipped it.

Then when I got up this morning I couldn’t figure out who won, or what the heck happened. By the time I’d sat down to put on my makeup, I was doing a Carol Anne in my head and ready to jump off the ledge.

But – I came here and other morning spots I visit and I’m back inside, off the ledge and my Carol Anne wig is in the drawer.

    Thank you!

I think Obama has only one card left in his deck. And it’s not Gloria Allred or a deal with Iran.

I think that there is a good chance that the administration is going to try to launch a strike against the Libya Bad Guys (or people they label as Bad Guys) in early November, a few days before the election. I think this could give Obama a boost, if it is done right.

We can’t stop this from happening, if that decision is made. But what we can do is be ready for it to possibly happen and work hard to make sure that if it does happen, that it does not have the effect Obama and his handlers want it to have.

Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato was on Fox & Friends this morning. And he said the same thing. He said, basically, “watch out, America. Obama is going to try to do a Libya strike before the election.” Something to that effect. I agree with him. This is their last card.

I know Rush Limbaugh and others have been working to dampen such an event if it were to happen. By labeling it as “desperate,” “transparent,” etc. We need to keep up that line of discussion, so that there is no ‘surprise’ if it occurs, and so that if such a strike does happen, that people will perceive it as ‘desperate,’ not ‘heroic.’

D’Amato said he thinks it will be a drone strike. Sounds about right. And I heard that some of the supposed collaborators in the terrorist attack have been let out of Libyan prison recently. Convenient, no?

Romney’s team has put out a new ad on Libya, I know Tamminator posted it already. Awesome. I think Romney was smart to avoid Libya last night, because if Obama is going to try to do a pre-election strike there, don’t set him up for it. Run your ads on the down low but don’t build up Libya for him. That is, don’t set him up to play hero.

Then, work to refute the fake Osama death narrative about Obama. He didn’t order the strike. The Obama group, if they do a Libya strike, will try to roll it right into the National Geographic Channel Bid Laden movie that is premiering on Nov 4th. They had their flaks send out notices to all the media outlets about this, so they can try to ride this into Election Weekend. If a strike is done on Libya, you can bet it will be close to this Osama movie, and the election. So they can try to get people to focus on foreign policy and not the economy right before Election Day.

Libya needs to be talked about, but not by Romney. But by the GOP House Of Representatives, and through ads like the new Romney one. I think the House is going to hold more hearings. Good. Work to muddle the narrative on Libya (that is, tell the truth) so that if Obama does strike Libya, there will already be a lot of white noise interference in the Zeitgeist to dampen any poll bounce he might get. The House Of Reps must do their work on this.

Finally, if you have the chance, tell anyone you know that this strike may be coming. And tell them that it’s a cheap ploy for reelection by Obama. The more people know about this possible event, the less effect it will have if it happens. And work to set the narrative that it is a stunt so that if it goes down, it might actually hurt Obama.

Obama is beaten. He is done. But I am not someone to sit back and celebrate before the job is finished. I think this is his last hope, and it’s up to us to make sure that such a possible gimmick is exposed and quashed so that it cannot achieve the desired result.

Whatever deseration Obama comes up with will fail. Just know that he hasn’t done anything right. He cannot make a decision and everyone knows it. This may be the reason Romney didn’t take the bait on Libya last night. He brought up all the stuff that has been eating at our hearts when Obama took office. Attacking Libya makes no sense in the long run. Mitt will have to walk a lot of stuff back and if the Once hits Libya again it just makes more work and diplomacy for Mitt and would absolutely PO his base. Al Qaeda is not gone and this would be a waste of missles. Things need to be sorted out in Libya and the Once is not up to it.

Romney has been so smart in these debates, not getting drawn too far into things BHO was trying to trap him on. And keeping Obama off-balance – how did he do it?

“This may be the reason Romney didn’t take the bait on Libya last night.”

One thing I like about Romney is sure, he made little mistakes in his campaign (“reporter asks ‘what about your gaffes?’”) but Romney just moved forward and kept going. Not the way Obama just moves “Forward” as in “that never happened, nothing to see here” but OK, I am human, and let’s be grown ups and face each day with full effort.

My fear is that he’ll murder the people whom he set up to either kidnap or kill Chris Stevens because I don’t believe for one second Obama was surprised by the attacks. He was too prepared with his criticism of the crude video no one had heard of & was preparing us for his move to limit free speech after his re-election. If he murders those responsible and who knew of Obama’s involvement, the truth may never come to light.

Kevin, I’ve been thinking along the same lines lately too. I was an ABR supporter during the primaries…I was glad when Perry entered the race and was pulling for Newt because I liked his pugnacious nature and ability to articulate. I wanted anything but a soggy cucumber and mayonnaise sandwich, or as I thought of Romney, dry white toast (ala Blues Brothers). And yet Romney kept on winning. I should’ve paid better attention to why that was the case.

I too am happy to say I was wrong about this guy. I’m really starting to like him, and not just because I think he’ll beat Obama. He’s a genuine guy whose commitment to family and country is something I can relate to, and his executive experience is just what we need now. What a relief it will be to see him sworn in and feel like we’re starting on the right track after the last 4 years.

Kevin, your letter brought tears to my eyes. I love the way you can write from the heart and your words touch my heart.

The first time I ever saw your blog or read any of your words was your letter to George and Laura Bush. I was amazed that any Democrat had a heart big enough to say the things you said. I have been a fan of yours ever since.

We all stumbled through the primaries, wanting our favorite Tea Party conservatives to win here and there. Primaries are brutal.

We are blessed to have as our nominee a man with a wealth of experience in business, life and politics. I am confident he can turn this country around like he turned around so many failing entities in the past. That is why leftists fear Romney. They want America to fail. Obama cheers against us, as he was taught to do in his overseas upbringing and in his communist upbringing. Romney will mess up his plans. The weakening of our military will be reversed. The weakening of our economy will be reversed. The impoverishing of our people will be reversed.

November 6 will be a blessed day for this country, Thanks to you, I signed up for Romney’s election day task force. I will take a day off of work to devote to helping Romney save this nation, and that blessing in my life will be thanks to you. I will tell my kids and grandkids about November 6, 2012.

Thank you Kevin for being you and bringing goodness and honesty to your blogging, and for reaching out to people from all walks of life and making our nation a better place.

(Note: I didn’t mean to write so much! I guess you touched a nerve!)

I felt much the same way about Romney until the first debate. I even voted for someone else in the primary (it was a protest vote because he already had the nomination sewn up) simply because I had said from the beginning that he was my least favorite candidate–even though I also said from Day 1 that if he got the nomination I would cheerfully vote for him.

My perception started to change significantly when he chose Paul Ryan as his running mate. It changed more significantly with the personal testimonials at the convention. I was still worried, though, about how he would manage in a debate against Obama, especially as the sponsor of Romney-care. Boy, was I wrong! I actually wasn’t all that impressed with the first debate until I saw the reaction of the pundits, focus groups, and polls. Part of this was because I had studiously avoided the entire 2008 campaign and turn off the volume whenever Obama appears on the tee-vee because he turns my stomach and always has, so I really had no perception of him as a “great orator” nor of the expectations loaded on him by Minitru going into the debate. So I didn’t really perceive his meltdown on screen. I thought Romney won but not big enough and expected Minitru to declare it for Obama anyway.

Since then, like you, I’ve been more impressed almost every day with the strategic campaign Romney is running, and I believe that our prayers for “our Reagan” were answered with the right man at the right time, and that President Romney will save our country not just for us and our progeny but for the whole world.

I want to thank you again, Kevin, for your Daily Doom Antidotes (and everything else you write, but especially the DDA), since finding your site (just before you started the DDA) was also a turning point for me regarding this election. I was a bit Eeyorish before I started reading your work: cautiously optimistic but concerned about voter fraud and Johnson’s 10% polling numbers in Colorado. I remember Ross Perot. Now I am confident and relaxed and looking forward to election night and celebrating. Romney and Ryan deserve much of the credit for this, but so do you deserve much of the credit. So thank you for sharing your energy, enthusiasm, and many gifts with total strangers. Thank you for making my life better.

There is no doubt in my mind, I voted for Romney in 2008 because I thought he’d be good for the economy….imagine that.

I am more conservative than Romney, but I’m very pragmatic, thinking that Romney, with his good looks, business experience, and style would appeal to more than enough people to beat Obama.

Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve always thought very highly of him.

Perhaps if Romney had won in 2008 he would have governed
in a much more liberal way that would not mass the enormous
benefit the country will gain by him governing more conservatively
      by necessity starting in 2013.

Romney is an intelligent guy. He knows how screwed up everything is. There is no compromise, no middle ground
to give. No money to throw away on anything we really don’t need.

I think it all happened the way it was supposed to. I was
particularly impressed when he put his son in charge of his

What hasn’t been mentioned here (but something you will probably agree with) is that Ann Romney will make a lovely, gracious, and hard-working First Lady. Unlike the current FLOTUS who takes lavish vacations on the taxpayer dime, I dare say. Ann Romney has already begun to demonstrate this, appearing beautifully attired and poised at the Alfred E. Smith dinner, while Michelle Obama was AWOL.

Following your comparison of Romney with Reagan, I think Ann will be an elegant and gracious First Lady. And one who is obviously in love with her husband and who cherishes her family.

Kevin — I’m with you from the other side of the aisle: I was for Romney in the 2008 primaries, but when he lost to McCain, I decided that I’d reluctantly vote for McCain…until Sarah was chosen. Then I was a Palinista from then on (and still am).

When Sarah chose not to run in 2012, I was shocked, then convinced she’d change her mind or be drafted, then I was, in the primaries, an ABR — anybody but Romney. Because I like you, I was conviced that Romney would be as passive and weak as McCain. And I was convinced Romney would lose to Obama like McCain lost — because he didn’t want to fight against the VILE Left.

I, like you, am happy to say that I was wrong. The beginning of my turn into a Romney supporter (again) was his choice of Paul Ryan. Paul Ryan is a congressman from my state, and I have been watching him on & off for 18 years. I knew that Paul Ryan was/is a fiscal hawk, and he would be instrumental in helping President Romney turn this economy around, and making our country prosperous again.

Kevin, your letter was superb. Kudos.

Come now! Don’t let something silly like this infuriate you!! Instead, let’s hope that the Romneys, being the sensible people that they are, find a way around it–and such a way that many smaller business owners win and win big!

For example, what if Ann finds some fashion designers/clothing companies that are struggling to get big-name recognition and she asks them to design her clothes?

Think about all the positive repercussions of this: She would be helping smaller businesses by advertising for them, she’d be supporting them financially, she’s probably start a huge trend of other people buying from these companies, AND she would be quietly thumbing her nose at those who are petulantly playing politics for no good reason.

Perhaps one of these days the Anna Wintour’s of the world might just learn that their merchandise isn’t all that, and it certainly isn’t the only options out there!

Pretty much exactly what I have been thinking over the past few weeks. Humility is always refreshing. No one can ever say you’re blind to the truth, Kevin. We all make our mistakes, but coming out gracefully on the other side is the challenge.

I was also thinking during the debate, if he can control the sniveling whiner of a president in the debates like he did, he will have no trouble whatsoever B-slapping a few other world leaders back into their caves. In the middle east part of the reason they have started attacking us so much is because they see O as weak and pandering. While they hated Bush they also feared him because he was organized and precise in his dealings with them. Romney will get the job done and Israel will be able to breath again.

Faith is a funny thing. During my time in various churches as I have moved across the country I have made one observation. Those who leave and come back to God by choice have the strongest faith because they know exactly what’s out there, and why being in the arms of Christ is so preferable to spiritual isolation. These people have perspective, not just regurgitated opinions of the pastor/priest. As my pastor once said, God loves most the children of his who come to him out of the adoration of their own hearts, not out of fear of what would happen if they didn’t.

Random thought: Love or hate them, U2 is a Christian band and a large chunk of their music is devoted to their faith, through the eyes of the common man who has ventured and lived outside the church. It’s well worth investigating if anyone is looking for an alternate way to connect. The song “Magnificent” is a great starting place. (sometimes during concerts and specific songs Bono will actually worship on stage, but it’s easily missed by those who don’t know what that means or why he would do it)

    Bravo Kevin,
I remember the creative artwork of the soggy cucumbers and mayo sandwiches and how you would describe for us the young khaki-pants blue blazers young men from RNC who thought they were all that. Hilarious. You’ve had an epiphany about Mitt Romney as many of us did. It feels good to celebrate having someone like him represent us.
Now all we have to do is get out the vote to get him elected. Call everyone you know and ask/beg them to do you the favor of voting for Mitt. Promise them lunch, a glass of champagne on election night, whatever you think they would enjoy and then go to their homes or meet them near there and go with them to vote. I’ve made my calls and now I am figuring out the logistics of being in two counties to assist my family/friends to vote. The rest of the day I will be on the phone like a real nag asking “did you vote?” in 2010 I sent my nephew to pick up my sister to vote because she didn’t think it mattered that much. I sent one cousin to pick up another. On that Wednesday, I had them all here for lunch — with Champagne. I will be doing the same this year.

What a wonderful letter. I have been following your blog for three years now. My daily routine is always hillbuzz followed by hotair, drudge, and ace. I no longer go to redstate as it has completely degenerated from the once-great site it was only two years ago.

Hillbuzz is on my indispensable daily blog list because you offer what no other site does: witty, funny, spot-on political analysis from a passionate, thoughtful student of politics. I too was a lifelong democrat until 2008. My parents are professionals who immigrated from the Caribbean during the “brain drain” of the 1970s so my Dad could get his Ph.D. I am a physician and my father a minister. I have always felt that the Democrat party represented the cause of human dignity and freedom. How wrong I was.

I was depressed this spring when it became apparent that Governor Romney was going to be the nominee. His embrace of “Romneycare” and his unwillingness to disavow his support of that plan I felt made him an unacceptable choice, particularly this year. The moment I most dreaded was going to be Obama’s “Obamacare is just like Romneycare” retort in one of the presdential debates. I’ve been fearing it all year. Finally, in Denver, the moment came… and then it went. And Mitt Romney handled it masterfully! My dread and fear was for nothing. Romney batted Obama away on this issue as if it was nothing.

If he had chosen Pawlenty or Portman there is no doubt that I would feel differently about Governor Romney. But his choice of Paul Ryan was not an expedient one. I believe Ryan was his sincere choice for the job, one that showed he is ready to really get into the details and fix the mess in which we now find ourselves. That was day one of the change in my thinking about Romney. That day I felt calm and reassured. I remain overwhelmed by the competence and seriousness of this team. The thought of Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney sitting down together poring over budgets and spreadsheets gives me a Chris Matthews-like tingle experience!

At the convention I learned that Governor Romney is not just the picture of competence, but that he is just a good man… the type of man we used to value in the 19th century…. quiet, reserved, humble, but uber competent and very very strong…. that quintessential masculine American man of vision and purpose who gets the job done, quietly and without fanfare.

The more I think about it the more I realize that Governor Romney is THE man for this moment. The Obama team’s strengths are its ability to caricature and drum up personal dirt (unsealing divorce records), and all of its free advertising through Minitrue and the leftist media. His weaknesses are his leadership and fiscal inexperience and, of course, this terrible economy. What better candidate than Mitt Romney? Our candidate doesn’t even drink alcohol or coffee. He dotes on his wife. Has no divorce records. He has balanced budgets his entire life. He radiates competence and executive decision making. I held Obamacare against him, but in the 20/20 of hindsight I see what an ideal candidate he is. Like you, Kevin, I feel silly for not seeing this then. I was pretty harsh in my judgments of Governor Romney this spring,

Kevin, I relate so much to your previous post about those awful neighbors of yours and the metaphor you strike with Barack Obama. The day after this election I think I will feel calm and relieved in a way that I have not felt for 4 years. Like a car siren that has been blaring for hours and suddenly stops, the end of the Obama era will be heralded by a deeply satisfying relief. I, like all of you here at Hillbuzz, will savor that silence.

Love Hillbuzz. Thanks for everything you do, Kevin!

I have never been a Democrat, but a lot of people have fallen for that drivel. When hard choices have to be made – although difficult to see at times – the correct decision will always serve the cause of human dignity and freedom. The Democrats completely trashed that faux label years ago. To put it another way, when you put the Republic first, human dignity and freedom will follow. A weak Republic, ultimately fails the people.

    Perfect letter, Kevin!

I will also join in the apology. Gov. and Mrs. Romney, you live Biblical values, not just talk about them. You have lived the American dream, and want the same opportunity for the rest of us. You are humble, which has cut both ways for you, because we haven’t been able to get to really know you, and it wasn’t fair to you for us to draw conclusions without enough information. Now that we know more, we have gotten a glimpse into your heart and your generosity.

Last night you demonstrated to my family (we all watched :D ) why you will make a good president, and we will be very proud to call you our president.

Gov. Romney, I am praying for you.

I’m also sorry, Gov. Romney. You did a great job leading my state; you did what you could to get a seat at the table when MA health care was overhauled; your vision was subverted by a bunch of people who didn’t understand it and were intent on doing something else.

Kevin, it takes a BIG man to admit a mistake.
My Daddy always told us never to be afraid to admit when we are wrong. I, too, was wrong about Romney. Until he chose Paul Ryan for his running mate, I was just going to vote Republican to get zippy out of there.
Mitt Romney is a great man and about to become President if the wheels don’t come off his well-oiled campaign.
America is sorely in need of real leadership, not the kind that leads us into a downward spiral into communism and dictatorship.

Kevin, I have been watching, and learning. I really do think that Mitt Romney is the right choice after all. I just saw a tiny fraction of some things, and I am more convinced that he is the right person to be POTUS. Besides all that, I love his voice!!

I am not kidding, Mitt Romney comes across with an authorative air. There is none of that waffling and B.S. that has been thrown about for the past 4 long years of mental torture with Obummer at the helm. Romney has his successful business experience behind him.

The difference between these two men is palpable. One has to ignore the European Leftists as well as the Australian Leftists because they are totally clueless when it comes to what is right for the USA.

Romney scores points in a lot of areas and yes I do believe that he will be the better Commander in Chief. He will not sell America out to her enemies.

There was a point in the debate where Obummer ridiculed Romney over Russia and the 19980s. What he said shows that he is the one who is very, very wrong. Vladmir Putin is more like the old style Communist who wants total control. Russia has been very busy in the Middle East. I see their fingerprints all over the place, especially in Iran and Syria. Russia’s fingers were burnt when Gadhafi was ousted, and ditto for China. Both of them were on the side of Gadhafi, and they both lost. Both of them are preventing a better solution for Syria, because both have too much to lose if Assad is ousted. Iran also has BIG fingerprints in Syria.

Obummer has caused a lot of harm in relationships. I suspect that the Saudis will be happy to see the back of him because Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE and several other ME countries do not want Iran to have nuclear weapons. They cannot come out and openly support Israel (which is natural) but you can bet that behind the scenes they will help Israel when the time for that strike arrives. For this reason it is best to have Romney at the helm.

Also, if Romney had been in charge when the civil war in Libya happened, everything would have been above board, as in Congress would have been consulted. This is after all the objection of most people. I cannot imagine Romney having anything to do with the Fast and Furious fiasco.

On top of that Romney would not have taken the side of a two bit thug named Trayvon Martin. He would have stayed right out of that situation and George Zimmerman would be a free man.

Yours is a letter from the heart and it also echoes the hearts of many of us, including this foreigner.

Kevin, You’re in good company. Note that the brilliant Rush Limbaugh, who had been suspicious and reticent about Romney during the primaries, has now come onboard full throttle, hat in hand, happy to be schooled by a candidate that seems destined to change national politics as we’ve known it for decades and maybe longer than that. Yes, Romney is that unique, gifted, pricipled and dedicated. Even the savvy Sarah Palin has stopped shouting out advice to Romney as she must be sensing something spectacular is afoot. For the longest time Ann Coulter was the lone voice among Conservatives, shouting Romney’s praises. She should be saluted for that.

Really great letter. I was a Romney fan in 2008 and figured that the GOP ran McCain because absolutely nothing could stop the Obama train. Maybe it was divine intervention because the man upstairs understood what a special candidate Romney was and he didn’t want to put him through the loss.

You really hit the nail on the head with your observation that Romney absolutely doesn’t need to do this for his resume. He is a wealthy man with a lovely family and at 65 why wouldn’t he just settle down and host family BBQs from here on out? Because he LOVES this country and Mitt will walk the walk.

$1.5B contract in Iraq for Biden’s little brother exposes Obama ahead of debate

    October 22, 2012 | 3:00 pm
    The Washington Examiner

Mitt Romney has criticized President Obama for giving green energy subsidies to campaign donors, but a new report out ahead of the debate tonight shows that this White House’s crony capitalism has a foreign policy angle.

HillStone International won a coveted government contract in part because the company has “the little brother of the vice president as a partner,” as David Richter, president of HillStone’s parent company explained to investors in a recent meeting reported on by Fox Business today.

“Since November 2010, James Biden has been the executive vice president of Hill International’s housing subsidiary despite little if any documented work history in residential construction,” Fox explains. “And if the company’s projections are accurate, both Hill and Biden are on the verge of a huge payday, beneficiaries, some analysts believe, of James Biden’s connections to the Obama Administration through his older brother.”

In the Fox report, a former Hill executive who worked on getting the project had this to say about HillStone: “You have to realize that these guys are relentless businessmen and they have the right connections.”
Romney has already proven himself willing to go after Obama for crony capitalism, as he did during the first debate. “[T]he place you put your money makes a pretty clear indication of where your heart is,” Romney said. “Ninety billion dollars. And these businesses, many of them have gone out of business. I think about half of them — of the ones that have been invested in have gone out of business. A number of them happen to be owned by people who were contributors to your campaigns.” The housing contract in Iraq is expected to generate $1.5 billion for James Biden’s HillStone, according to Fox, so the report could pave the way for an awkward moment for the president in tonight’s debate on foreign policy.

Brilliant and heartfelt, Kevin, and I, too, was for “anybody but Romney.” I love Ron Paul as he understands how we are destroying America with our spending. In fact, Stalin said that was how America could be destroyed and Obama is following what Stalin suggested.

I did not want Romney because of Romneycare and wanted Obamacare overturned, which Romney will do. My brilliant and late physician husband left England because of socialized medicine and is known throughout the world as a top neurologist. Those kinds of doctors do not devlop under socialized medicine where the government tells the doctor what he or she can or cannot do. They need freedom to develop their finest skills.

I realized I, too, was wrong about Romney the minute he picked wonderful Paul Ryan as his VP. This man is serious about restoring our liberty by restoring economic liberty.

    ——————-
This May, Mitt Romney’s son Tagg and his wife Jennifer became the proud parents of two beautiful twin boys with the help of a surrogate. And today, TMZ revealed that — gasp — the agreement they made with the surrogate gave the woman carrying their children the option to terminate the pregnancy for pretty much any health reason. Is this any of our business? Well, no. And yes.

According to TMZ, Tagg and Jennifer employed the same surrogate they used in 2009 to carry their twins David Mitt and William Ryder Romney to term. Unlike their child born in 2009, however, this time around, their surrogacy agreement contained some pretty pro-choice language—

If in the opinion of the treating physician or her independent obstetrician there is potential physical harm to the surrogate, the decision to abort or not abort is to be made by the surrogate.

So, basically, if there’s any possibility that this could physically harm the woman carrying the twins, she and she alone has the power to choose to terminate.

On one hand, what Tagg, Jennifer, and their surrogate decided was best for their families should be a private matter and not up for public debate. But Tagg’s father, and the twins’ grandfather, is running for President on a platform that’s would make it a public debate — an ideology so extreme that it’s impractical for his own son. The Romney/Ryan ticket officially believes that the only reason abortion should be okay is in case of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. And the GOP platform officially believes that there’s no reason to abort except to save a woman’s life. In either scenario, the set of circumstances that made surrogacy a non-terrifying thing for women would diminish, and Romney’s own grandsons may never have been born.

What Tagg Romney has chosen to do within his family is, in technical terms, his beeswax. But what Mitt Romney wants for all women could significantly diminish the quality of life for all Americans. Including Mitt Romney.

I had read on some pro-Palin sites some mean stuff about Romney and when she didn’t endorse him I got nervous about the Romney camp shutting down the Palin camp. But, Sarah has chosen not to run and so we must all move on – we have a country to save and as Sarah said ABO. I would have supported any candidate vs. Obama. But his pick of Ryan as VP, (I have liked Ryan for a couple of years – he’s a number cruncher and I can relate). I felt much more enthusiastic then and after the debates I can say I will happily vote FOR Romney/Ryan! Imagine that! Not a vote AGAINST Obama but FOR Romney/Ryan. YIPPEEE!
God Bless you and your team here at HillBuzz, I love this place!

That moment of recognition is called “metanoia” when all the pieces fall into place and the realization of truth washes over you.

For leftists, what is washing over them now is the sense that they are about to lose. They are starting to panic because they have been brainwashed to believe that their lives will become the equivalent of living in a soviet gulag without shoes, eating gruel, and picking nits out of each other’s hair. So are they understandably freaked out.

I’d freak out too if I’d been brainwashed, and had been told my lady parts would wither away if Mitt Romney becomes president – which he will.

Be prepared for 4 long years of Romney Derangement Syndrome.

You should make a pitch to be his press secretary.

    Now wouldn’t that be something.

You know that 47 % remark kinda just disappeared after Paul Ryan’s joke about it at the vp debate and then it completely vanished after Obama’s remark at the second debate. I guess they realized… NOBODY CARES ABOUT THAT?

Kevin, first time on your website…all I can say is WOW. This is probably the best letter I’ve seen to Mitt Romney and expresses my feelings exactly. I agree with you and I am very much looking forward to Mitt being elected President of the United States on November 6th and I’m excited to make Michelle “Mooch” Obama ashamed of America again!
