Oliver Stone’s “W.” now playing for free on Hulu.com
If you’ve never seen Oliver Stone’s “W.”, a good chance to watch it — for free — is on Hulu.com right now.
The movie stars James Brolin as President George W. Bush, Elizabeth Banks as First Lady Laura Bush, James Cromwell as President George H.W. Bush, Ellen Burstyn as First Lady Barbara Bush, Thandie Newton as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Richard Dreyfuss as Vice President Dick Cheney, a 10 year old boy with severe emotional issues as Rachel Maddow, Noah Wylie as Commerce Secretary Donald Evans, one of the long out of work TeleTubbies (I think the yellow one) as Senator Claire McCaskill, and Jason Ritter as Governor Jeb Bush.
I remember seeing this in theaters years ago and thinking it was an interesting portrayal of President Bush. I saw the film here in Chicago, with an audience that came to the theater to mock Bush, thinking Stone would lampoon him. When the movie was over, there were a lot of disappointed faces silently filing out of the AMC River East because that’s not what Stone did.
If I recall, conservative movie reviewers didn’t like the film very much either, so it appears Stone struck and interesting middle of the road with this project, in that it delighted nor infuriated no one.
I admit I haven’t thought about the movie in years and am only watching it again because it’s free on Hulu.
And, honestly, because I really do miss “Dubya”.
Who would have thought that three years into the Golden Age of Hope and Change that so many people who were hyper-critical of President Bush now join me in wishing he and Mrs. Bush were still in the White House?

Thanks for the heads-up Kevin! I'm heading over to watch now.
I loved this movie too. Although I do think that Oliver Stone tried his best to lampoon Bush (and before him Nixon) but somehow got lost in the complexities of either man.
His portrayal of Nixon with Anthony Hopkins was almost a paean to a misunderstood titan. He was accused of being an apologist when that came out because Hopkins did such a great job playing the tragic, Richard the 3rd-like Nixon.
I saw this movie a couple of years ago. I thought it was terrible. Oliver Stone is an overrated hack.
These days, I prefer to get my mind off the Obama misery by watching The Closer, Hot in Cleveland, and Happily Divorced. Just about anything with Krya Sedgwick, Betty White, and Fran Dresher has to be entertaining.
The Obama misery is just that–high unemployment, very slow growth rate in GDP, announcements of layoffs nearly every day, rising governmental debt. Where is the sunshine? Obama hasn't brought any. No. He's just brought misery.
I look forward to the day when the miserable SOB we call president is thrown out of office. I will dance in the streets. Until then, I'll keep trying to get my mind off troubles and help kick the bum out of office.
got to see this

I would rather spend that time watching a fly crawl up a wall.
