Oh My! Newt’s South Carolina Miracle?

Posted on January 21, 2012 by Bridget // 2012 Elections, 2012 GOP Candidates, Mittens Romney, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul

I’ve been sitting back quietly watching the campaign trail.  After the crumble of Herman Cain’s campaign…I’ve been a little shy about thumping my chest for the man that I think can save this country…Newt Gingrich.  I haven’t put up ”Go Newt Go!” posts every day.  I wanted to take  a wait and see approach.  I’m starting to feel a little different as of this morning.  It’s beginning to look like Mitt Romney’s carefully built house of cards is starting to sway in the warm South Carolina coastal breeze and Newt has his sail tilted in just the right direction to catch the lift.  It’s amazing really… considering  seven months ago his entire campaign staff walked out on him (I bet they’re regretting that move).  He’s survived several media attacks and polling slumps.  Now that he’s back on track with his positive message about what he can do to save this country…the sky’s the limit.

I’m beginning to be cautiously optimistic.

And….it appears that the little interview with his whining ex-wife Marianne seems to have helped him instead of hurt him….that tickles me pink!

Newt is a survivor….he’s one tough son of a gun.

I guess that’s why Chuck Norris is endorsing  Newt.

I wouldn’t argue with Chuck.

Newt wouldn't be my first pick under normal circumstances, but out of the current crop I like him the best. It's fascinating to see how the campaign has turned around, since it seemed that Romney was a shoo-in. I am VERY cautiously optimistic though, because I believe Romney will pull out all the stops to win. I wouldn't put cheating past him. He's desperate.

Newt talked a good game during the Contract with America years too. But that fizzled. Government got bigger, and Newt cheerfully helped expand it.

I’d vote for any of the others over Newt.

When we get to November, I must vote for the GOP nominee, even if I have to hold my nose to do so. However, while there are some things I'm not crazy about with Newt, I think he has what it takes to help start turning around this country. I really liked Perry and I like what Daniels did in Indiana. There is no perfect politician, and we'll never get one person that everyone will feel comfortable with. I was cheering for Newt when he slammed John King at the debate on Th night.

This is where I think Newt is brilliant: He is taking the battle to the media. First line of defense, and he won. I pray he continues, and I applaud him for recognizing that the media can, and will if we don't have a Newt challeging them, by and large destroy our country. The media is too stupid to realize that the Communist utopia they continually work toward would shut their collective mouths and writings in a nannosecond should they accomplish their goal. They take our Constitutional liberties for granted.

Go, Newt. You speak for me when you take on the media.

Right, Layla, and the LSM is also too stupid to see that Newt is laying for them to do the "over reach" and get spanked the way John King did in the CNN debate. John looked like he wanted to throw up, poop his pants, go blind, or all 3.

With all due respect, Newt's phenomenal surge in SC might be called a miracle perhaps largely helped along by Gov. Palin. Yes, Newt did exceptionally well in last Monday's debate with his takedown of the now-always-to-be-expected leftist race-baiting from Juan Williams. Yes, Newt did well at the beginning of last Thursday's debate with his takedown of yellow-journalism-pushing John King (and ABC's Brian Ross). No argument that Newt is perhaps the best GOP debater and that it would be an unmitigated joy to watch him reduce BO to a cringing puddled mass. But the fact that Gov. Palin told Hannity on Monday night that if she were a South Carolinian she would vote for Newt is, IMO, largely what sent Newt's numbers from negative double digits vs Mittens to leading Mittens within the next 48 hours and now ahead by double digits with a better than 89% chance to win according to Intrade. Newt himself has publicly acknowledged that Gov. Palin's words were what sent his campaign's poll numbers, contributions, endorsements and volunteers soaring. The fact that the agenda-driven media is steadfastly ignoring this despite Newt's acknowledgement, speaks volumes about Gov. Palin's undiminished continuing (that which they dare not speak) political impact. Prayers now going up for a decisive SC victory for Newt in order to stop the premature coronation of Mittens Romneycare by the agenda-driven media, cocktail party GOP establishment and Obamacrats, all of whom seem to have been thrown into a babbling, incoherent mass by the sudden and relentless turnaround in the GOP primary race. The race and the vetting need to continue so that all American voters have the opportunity to thoroughly scrutinize the remaining candidates and have an opportunity to make their voices heard throughout the remaining primary states and right on through the convention in August.

Guessing that a couple of decades ago the public whining of an ex-wife would have more impact; however, with the more widespread spread of divorce, with some being very nasty, makes a wider swath of the population extremely skeptical of divorce related accusations against a spouse. Obvious exception being the IRS is always interested in what an ex-spouse has to say.

    {snark sarcasm ON} Now that we know Marianne was never in Newt's closet, can we find out if Vera Baker is a trans-gender play-thing hiding in Obama's closet? Inquiring minds want to know {snark sarcasm OFF}

    AfroCity Brown:

"At every opportunity, politely remind Santorum supporters of the following:

"1. The Republican nominee will lose in November if he fails to win two of the 'big three' swing states – Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

"2. Santorum was driven from office by the people of Pennsylvania, losing by 17.6%. This is the largest margin-of-defeat ever suffered by an incumbent Republican senator in U.S. history.

"3. One of the biggest criticisms that cost him that election was his 'absentee senator' problem. By his own admission, he only spent about one month a year in Pennsylvania.

"4. He has done little to rehabilitate his image with Pennsylvanians and officially resides in Virginia. Therefore, he is extremely vulnerable to a general election loss in Pennsylvania.

"5. Florida has been and is likely to remain a 'close call' state, where the general election vote will be within a few percentage points.

"6. Rick Santorum is more hated by the Gay community than any other GOP candidate, as evidenced by their common usage of the unfortunate word-coining started by gay columnist, Dan Savage (If you don't know the story, look it up).

"7. The GLB population of Florida is approximately 4.6%. If Santorum is the nominee, a highly motivated get-out-the-vote effort in the Gay and Gay-friendly populations of Florida could easily put the state in the Democrat's win column. Another socially conservative nominee will not evoke such motivation.

"When confronted with these points, which indicate crucial states being lost by Santorum, I don't see how any supporter of his can defend him as a nominee able to win in November."

Santorum also, I believe, claimed Pa. residency in order to send his kids to a certain school,
paying reduced in-state tuition rates; when caught he pulled his kids out of school and had his
      wife home school them.

Huckster said Newt is surging for 2 reasons; first is Monday's debate and second was the endorsement (from Chuck Norris) – I assume he was being funny but the intentional non mention of Palin or Perry surprised me. He can't even utter the word Sarah, haven't heard anyone else at Fox utter her name either. Strange, huh?

Yep, muy strange! Unless there's some contractual/legal reason for the Huck (or any other Fox person) not to utter Gov. Palin's name in connection with the sudden game change in SC, it appears to be the result of 1) utterly horrific sexism/misogyny; 2) utter stupidity; 3) perhaps both 1 and 2. It appears that with re to BOR, it is likely both because 1) he's a closet BO supporter who's been pushing Mittens as the 'inevitable,' most 'electable' GOP establishment pick to go up against BO, and 2) his ginormous ego, which simply cannot stand that Gov. Palin very probably has far more clout with American voters than does he.

I believe Newt's surge in SC polling is due to his "woodshedding" King (aka all MSM) for working to take out any of Ø's possible opponents through character assassination. Had Romney stepped in before Newt could get a word out and had done the "woodshedding", I believe Romney would be ahead. But is this a lesson that the MSM are getting. Doubtful. People are sick of the MSM and their bias and they're going to support anyone who has the guts to go toe to toe. And people are sick of Republicans trying to make the MSM like them. Newt is just following the Sarah playbook and people love it.

Got to love the fact that Todd Palin gives Newt the thumbs up and Sarah then nods approvingly in his direction and he surges. The Palin factor is alive and well. Glad to see that Newt knows to show respect to Governor Palin by acknowledging her clout and importance to the Republican base. And the Palin Army in turn has given him the support needed at a critical time in the campaign.

Know it will never happen but a Gingrich/Palin ticket would be fun, wouldn't it? The left would go into seizures.

Sheila Jackson Lee: Newt Gingrich Using Racist ‘Code Words’

Sheila Jackson Lee is right on time with her weekly “_____ is racist” accusation.
Newt Gingrich is using secret racist encryption and Jackson Lee — dumbest member of Congress 17 years running — has cracked the code:
    http://dougpowers.com/2012/01/21/sheila-jackson-l…

And “Sheila Jackson Lee” is poorly disguised code for “pathetic race baiter.”

I’m not sure why people like Sheila Jackson Lee assume that calling Obama the “food stamp president” is racist considering that half of all people on food stamps are white.

We now have results from 3 states, none of which have large populations or large delegate counts.

There are still 47 states that have yet to weigh in (unless you are Obama or a liberal, and then there are 55 state contests left).

    T h i s . I S . N O T . o v e r !

Like in Major League Baseball, when the remaining contests are not enough to overcome an opponent's lead in the pennant race, there can be a "mathematical elimination" before the season is over. So, too, can the primary season end before all delegates have been secured.

But with only 3 out of 50 states (sorry libtards, Obama's wrong on how many states there are in the USA) it is no time to let anyone "call it" for anyone.

    Viva los Primarios!

P.S. You overlooked that primaries actually include Guam, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rice, D.C. and American Samoa, bringing the total to 55 ;)

Is anyone else concerned about the GOP changing their rules to follow the Democrat '08 model? I just don't understand why they would do that unless it was because they had seen how the demonrats used it to get the candidate they wanted and now are going to get the candidate they want. I'd love to hear Briget and Kevin's take on this.
