News networks may yank female reporters out of Egypt after rape of Lara Logan by Muslim mob
This is expected, and very much worth talking about: news networks are debating yanking female reporters out of Egypt after the brutal rape of Lara Logan by Muslims, while she was literally standing in a crowded public square covering the chaos in Cairo.
Several months ago, I saw the movie “Cairo Time” with my friend Zara, who had lived in Egypt briefly and who has traveled extensively through Muslim countries. In that movie, Patricia Clarkson plays and American wife of a State Department official, who visits Cairo on a trip to see her husband. One afternoon, in broad daylight, Clarkson’s character gets bored all cooped up in the hotel and decides to take a walk to window shop and explore the neighborhood just a block or so away from where she was staying. Just a few minutes into this stroll, blonde-haired Clarkson attracted a mob of Muslim men who wanted to rape her. The actress telegraphed the terror her character felt in a scene I will never forget…her eyes darted back and forth looking for a way out…sweat beaded up on her forehead as her mind raced to think of some escape…she truly seemed like a woman who knew she was about to be raped if someone or something didn’t save her.
Mercifully, an old shopkeeper spied what was happening through the dirty windows of his store and he pulled Clarkson inside, locking the door behind her, shouting for the mob of men to go away. Still terrified, there was a moment where Clarkson seemed to wonder if the old man would try to rape her too.
At dinner afterwards, Zara told me “he probably would have if they had Viagra in Cairo”…and she wasn’t kidding. She was dead serious. ”This is what it’s like to be a woman in a Muslim country. But, it’s still better than being you, because they’d kill you because you are gay. At least there’d be a hope of maybe living if it’s a woman they are attacking”.
Whenever the Left calls Islam “the religion of peace” or goes on about multiculturalism and how “equally valid” the “culture” in Muslim countries is, the first thing I instinctively think of is the “Cairo Time” rape scene…and from today forward, the next thing I’ll think of is reporter Lara Logan gang-raped in the middle of a crowded square just seconds after filing a televised report during this chaos in Cairo.
It’s horrific, infuriating, and — most frighteningly — just another thing the Left needs you to overlook and pretend doesn’t happen so the “equally valid, religion of peace” meme Democrats seek to institutionalize for Islam can continue unchallenged.

I am sorry for Ms. Logan, however if Liberal women and men continue their strong defense of Islam (Muslim) as a religion of Peace, Love and Brotherhood when ALL evidence points to the opposite, then what else can they expect.
Seriously doubt this incident will change any Liberals mind about their love for all things Muslim. It’s a PC thing, you know and Conservatives just don’t get it.
I understand why the left is so apologetic for illegal Hispanics — they want their illegal votes. But, I can’t fathom why the lefty loons apologize for the radical Islamists as they do. Radicalized Muslims will happily kill all of us if given the chance.If Dumbocrats think being an apologetic liberal will save them fron the beheading they are terribly mistaken.
The left’s continual tongue bath of Islam has nothing to do with Islam itself. It has two functions:
(1) It’s a way of showing how much better they are than those nasty conservatives; it’s a class matter.
Listen to a leftist talking about Islam, and see how often they twist the conversation to attacking the centre/right: “Islam does X? That’s nothing, American conservatives do Y…”
(2) They are incapable of taking Muslims seriously.
See how often they correct Islamists and accuse them of “misinterpreting” their own religion.
Apparently, having taken one class on it in college, they now know more about Islam than Muslims who speak fluent Arabic and have made their religion their lives’ work.
Look at their discussion of foreign policy. According to them, everything that the Muslim world does is because of us – in this world, Muslims apparently have no independent cultural dynamics.
Like most deluded people, leftists believe that if they support Muslims, then the Muslims will kill everyone but THEM. It’s a little like the lamestream media slavishly supporting every liberal cause, thinking they will be part of the ruling elite once marxism is fully established in this country. Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
It makes me sick when anyone tries to aggrandize the middle east, like Dubai or some place like that. In the movie Sex and the City II, I was upset to see the 4 girls went to some place like Dubai, thinking it would be oh so grand (I almost boycotted the movie even though I am a fan). However, a few days into their “vacation” one of the women tries to innocently touch a man while they were in public and soon a crowd of muslim men followed, shouting obscenities and she was literally running for her life. The 4 girlfriends had a very rude awakening to life in the middle east and couldn’t get the h__ out of town fast enough.
P.S. I wonder if some of the contempt for Ms. Logan was because she is a female, but some because she is an AMERICAN…
Strictly speaking she’s South African but I suspect it was mainly because she was the face of CNN right there and also being blonde likely didn’t help.
Sadly, Lara Logan just experienced the same crime Muslim women in Middle Eastern countries have been experiencing for years. In Islamic ruling countries when women are raped, it’s the woman who is stoned to death, not the rapist.
Where are the women’s organizations? Where are the Human Rights organizations? They’re too busy trying to destroy the one stable, Democratic Middle Eastern country where women, gays, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindu’s and all other countries have human rights – Israel.

Several years ago when I was reading the blog of the Egyptian Sandmonkey he wrote about an attack of a similar nature.
This particular attack was against Egyptian women. When there is a “festival” atmosphere such as Eid, the men congregate in mobs.
They will attack any woman that they see. On that occasion, it was the taxi drivers who pulled the women into their taxis to save them from the mob.
In Egypt the men see women as pieces of cat meat. They think that if a woman is wearing a short skirt then she deserves to be attacked.
Here in Australia there were some very brutal rapes in Sydney perpetrated by Muslim men – Lebanese and Pakistani (two different lots of gangs). The Pakistani group were brothers. Anyway, they would spot the girl on the train and then follow her from the station, grab her and kidnap her…. it was brutal.
I read an article years ago about the attitude of Egyptian men toward American women. An American woman whose name escapes me right now wrote that she was sexually harassed by men over there – touching, grabbing, etc., almost to the point of rape, as if she were a common prostitute. She kept asking, outraged, “Why do you do this?!?” The answer: “All you American women are cheap.”
“Cheap.” Think about that for a minute.
If they think that way of American women, I cannot imagine what they think about their own.
As if she were lower than a common prostitute, I’d say – with a prostitute you’d at least have to pay to touch and grab.
and it doesn’t make any difference if you’re a Christian, agnostic or atheist, you’re still considered an infidel and you will be killed if you don’t convert.
All of the women’s rights groups in the world can’t change the muslim mindset. Centuries ago they decided to follow the teachings and lifestyle of Muhammad, who was a pervert who married a girl child and did God knows what else throughout his miserable life. Is it any wonder that they look at it as a badge of honor to degrade and debase all women?
Surely there is something missing in their DNA (and that’s not all they SHOULD be missing)for them to have no understanding of goodness, humanity and decency. Apparently, they have no desire to know.
Let’s hear what Chris Matthews and that miserable lot over at MSNBC has to say in support of their “Muslim brothers”. They’ll contort themselves into some sort of rationale for their actions against Logan. Maybe they’ll blame Republicans…or Sarah Palin.
Bet they will be talking about “moderate” muslims…..doncha know, they’re almost all moderate.

A friend of mine grew up in Egypt … her family is Christian, but she knows lots of interesting tidbits about Sharia law … one thing that I think few outside of that religion of terror know about is that sharia law says that if a muslim man has sex with the wife of a Christian, that he will get extra reward (virgins?) in heaven. Maybe it is the wives of all infidels … horrid horrid. What a filthy disgusting religion. Learning more about it is like leaning over a portable toilet hole and breathing in.
DISGUSTING! I am a Christian women in America. How blessed we are! This religion makes me want to puke! From this point forward, I will pray for my sisters in all the Muslim countries. And I will do whatever is in my power to keep this from coming here. For the life of me I can’t understand the Muslim/Lib connection.

I think it is pretty striking how many people I have heard reference the attitude “well, she was in Egypt and they have different culture”.
I drove in to work this morning and I listened to a female reporter (who had previously been a TV reporter in chicago) mention how she admired so and so journalist because “whenever she was int he middle east, she never took off her head wrap – she respected their culture.
I thought to myself, that is not culture. It is a prey drive. A culture that does not deter base and vulgar behavior such as this does not earn respect of those that do.
Side note – I saw this article yesterday with pictures from Afghanistan in the 50s/60s. It just shows how Islamic “culture” is regressive. Within 40 years, there is no trace of the modernity in Kabul.

This is so sad. I had a co-worker who was from Afghanistan. He left in the late 80′s or early 90′s because the government had collapsed. He brought his family to America because, as he told me, he didn’t want his wife and daughters to be subjected to the sharia law he knew was coming.

Sadly in many Muslim countries women are treated like garbage. Violence and Rape are accepted, yet we are told by Obama and the media to “respect them.”

One awful thing that nobody ever talks about–the rate of first-cousin marriage in Islam. Half of all registered marriages in Pakistan are between first cousins. In some parts of Islam, the daughter of a brother is assumed to be the wife of that man’s son, and the uncle must give permission if that niece is to be married to someone other than his son. How long has this been going on, how many generations? How much hope is there to get along with a people who have inbred madness for dozens of generations?
When I heard about this reporter, I couldn’t help but think of Annette Benning prancing around Iran in her fashionable hijab. The left is so deluded about Islam that they’ll get themselves killed…but they want to drag us along with them into danger.

She has been in the hospital ever since she arrived back in the US, her injuries being described as severe. The silence from “the president” and his Secretary of State is deafening, isn’t it?
The behavior of this mob in Egypt is a middle eastern cultural norm. The outsider, without the express protection of a group member, is open season. The lesson of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible is not about men having sex with men, it is about the treatment of the stranger (the angels who visited Lot)among us.
The thinking is if a woman is not protected by a male, she deserves to be raped. If a stranger does not have he protection of the local sheik, the stranger can be beaten, robbed and even killed.
Obviously, in our Judeo-Christian culture, bad people do bad things all the time. But the ideals of our Judeo-Christian culture demand that we acknowledge that value of the individual and offer that person the same respect (love) we would want for ourselves.
