More on the Giannoulias-Kirk race in Illinois
Here’s an interesting read in the Sun-Times today.
In it, the loathsome Jan Schakowsky is depicted as careening around Washington in her car, like Cruella de Vil, haranguing a reporter for daring, in Chicago, to talk about what a vile candidate Alexi Giannoulias is for the Senate. Schakowsky also doesn’t like people talking about the fact that against anyone else, Giannoulias would surely lose this race — Mark Kirk is a fatally flawed candidate that gives Schakowsky hope that “The G”, as he calls himself, can still turn things around and win this race by raising and dumping large sums of money into TV ad buys this summer.
Here’s what we think is really, really interesting in the article: look for the part where Schakowsky brings up gay marriage.
We’ve been wondering why “The G” has been doing so many Equality Illinois events in Chicago lately…the more bad press that was in the news about Broadway Bank (the mob bank, which the Giannoulias Family ran), the more Alexi would find a reason to stand on stage with Equality Illinois head honchos like Art Johnson and others. To us, it’s clear Giannoulias is using these people, for these photo ops, which is a shame because in many ways Johnson especially is to Boystown what Harvey Milk was to the Castro. He’s worked hard for LGBTQ causes his whole life, so to see Giannoulias use him so shamelessly is just a hard sight to take in.
But, we wonder, what’s Giannoulias really up to? He’s never shown a passion for LGBTQ causes before. Democrats have a lock on the LGBTQ vote, so there’s really no reason to even campaign on this issue. He’s not doing these events as fundraisers…so why is he doing them?
It sure feels like it fits into the theory we had back in 2009 that Giannoulias’ plan all along for winning the Senate seat was to take Mark Kirk down as a hypocrite for not supporting spousal equality and the repeal of DADT when Kirk himself is gay.
Giannolias is a lot of things, but stupid he’s not. He knows full well he’s a rotten candidate. His family was the mob’s bankers. He’s deeply connected to all the political crooks this state has to offer. The only way he wins is by taking down Kirk as a liar and hypocrite and ending his campaign with a big scandal…in much the way Obama took down Jack Ryan back in 2004.
We told you this was going to happen months ago, long before the GOP in Illinois insisted on making Mark “it’s his turn” Kirk the nominee. Illinois Review, a little-read fanfiction site run by Fran Eaton, attacked us for warning Republicans about what Giannoulias would do to Kirk. It’s all going down the way we told you it would because at various Democrat events we went to in 2009, this exact plan was spelled out for us.
1. Giannoulias will be the nominee
2. Giannoulias can never overcome being the mob’s banker
3. Democrats will do everything possible to make Mark Kirk the Republican nominee because he is fatally flawed
4. The media will give Kirk a “McCain treatment”, where they oooo and aaaaah over him, call him “a maverick”, and pump him up…so they can tear him down when they need to
5. Kirk will be forced to go against something the LGBTQ community wants because he is running as a Republican, so he will have to side against spousal equality and the DADT repeal
6. The above will break the pact Kirk-the media-LGBTQ activists have, whereby Kirk does not side against the LGBTQ community and instead does whatever it wants because he is being blackmailed
7. Kirk will be outed in a spectacular way
8. Republicans will abandon Kirk not because he is gay, oddly enough, but because he is a liar and a hypocrite
We told you this was coming, and apparently in the next few days Mike Rogers, from the documentary OUTRAGE, is going to out Kirk.
Do not think for a moment that Rogers is going rogue in doing this. He very much has the approval of the DNC and the LGBTQ community at large. In our opinion, being the one to out Kirk is Rogers’ prize for putting together the excellent OUTRAGE documentary, which centered mostly on how ridiculous Governor Charlie Crist’s heterosexual kabuki is.
If Rogers is moving on this, it’s because the Giannoulias campaign decided now is when they wanted to pull the switch.
Rogers primed the pump last week, saying he would reveal what he knows after Memorial Day…so it’s been that tantalizing morsel all weekend. Most likely, it was to also see what Kirk himself would do, and what Republicans in Illinois would start to do as well (ie, will they start to dump Kirk like they did Ryan, and call in Alan Keyes again).
Because Giannoulias wants as big of a punch as possible from this, revealing it during Memorial Day Weekend would be ridiculous, as most people are more concerned with picnics and out of town travel and fun through tomorrow.
But, Tuesday or Wednesday of this week would be a great time for something like this to drop against Kirk…since people who avoided the news during the long holiday will try to catchup with gusto…and then, BAM, here’s this takedown of Kirk.
Just as we said it would happen.
But, instead of preparing for this inevitability and getting Kirk to drop out of the primary so a winnable candidate could have had the nomination, the GOP in Illinois and Fran Eaton at Illinois Review deliberately sunk their heads into the sand and pretended this was not true about Kirk.
We’ve been at events with Eaton, waiting in foyers for doors to open, and have actually talked to her about Kirk. SHE’S ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO TOLD US HE’S GAY.
We’ve heard this consistently since we all moved to Chicago between 2004-2005, but people like Eaton affirmed this from the GOP side between 2008-2010, as we started working with Republicans because of the McCain campaign. Everything we had ever heard about Kirk in Boystown was confirmed by Republicans who came into our lives in the 2008 election and beyond.
So, Eaton and Illinois Review have a lot of explaining to do when Rogers makes whatever announcement he makes.
Readers of Illinois Review should know they are being lied to by Fran Eaton, because if she claims she’s “Shocked, shocked, shocked!” by whatever Rogers says, we still have our pocket notes from the Michael Steele dinner at the Union League Club…and we still remember exactly what Fran Eaton was wearing that day…when she stood in the foyer with us and talked an awful lot about Mark Kirk…before she schizophrenically changed her tune and decided to attack us for speaking out on something everyone else was talking about anyway.
And that would be the simple fact that Kirk’s candidacy was doomed from Day One not because he is gay, but because he is a liar and a hypocrite who has been blackmailed by the LGBTQ community for years…which explains his voting record, and the odd votes he cast against his constituents’ wishes whenever his blackmailers pulled his strings. It was unavoidable that in the Senate race, however, in trying to keep the downstate vote, that Kirk would have to either choose alienating conservatives or upsetting his blackmailers. He chose the latter, and the end result will be whatever Mike Rogers sets into motion against him.
This is why Aaron Schock and other gay Republicans in office just need to come out already.
Seize what’s going to happen to Kirk as the opportunity for you ALL to come out, all at once. Every last one of you.
If you can, get some conservative gay celebrities to come out too…which would be a double whammy, because they’d be coming out as CONSERVATIVES as well as being gay.
That’s our best advice for mitigating what’s to come for Kirk — the only way he can ride this storm out is if Aaron Schock steps up to the plate and helps diffuse the issue. There’s a third gay Republican male member of the Illinois Congressional delegation that could come out as well. The more people who do this, all on the same day, the less focus will be on Kirk and his lies and hypocrisy.
As for us, Illinois Review created a very personal stake in this that we can’t ignore. Fran Eaton broke a personal and professional confidence by not only outing one of our personal names on this site — which was deliberately anonymous because we did not want to be attacked by the Left in our personal lives — but she used the fact that we were Facebook friends, on a personal level, not professional, to steal pictures from our personal Facebook accounts to use in her pieces on Illinois Review. She knew why we wrote anonymously until she outed us, because we’d had the conversation with her. But, she chose to use the fact that we spoke out on what was going to happen to Kirk’s campaign as an excuse to maliciously reveal one of our names to the public…so that the Left could do whatever the Left was going to do to destroy us.
There should be consequences for Fran Eaton and Illinois Review when Mike Rogers outs Kirk and the whole Giannoulias plan unfolds the way we told you it would.
We have no idea if Eaton can legally be held liable for all the damages the Left has caused us because of her outing, but we’d love to pursue that. All we’ve been waiting for is Giannoulias to kick the plan into gear to prove us right.
So, if you read Illinois Review, all 12 of you, you might want to ask Eaton what she has to say about Mike Rogers and what she knew, and when she knew it, about Mark Kirk.

Dear Mike Rogers,
President Obama is against gay marriage. Just like Larry Craig. In fact, if you were to look even closer, you would find that these two happily married men have quite a lot in common.
If you bothered to look.
Why go for a nobody like Mark Kirk when the big fish is Obama.
If anyone should be outed it is Barack Obama who is full of hypocrisy.
Mark Kirk has his reasons over DADT, especially since he is in the military reserves. If he was outed it means that he cannot be a member. Is that fair?
I disagree so much with this kind of action.
It seemed to me, so far from the Chicago scene, that one of the reasons for the reticence thus far of the Democrats to out Kirk had to do with the nature of the relationship between Obama and Giannoulias — partly on the basis of what I’ve read here, partly from other reports, I’ve been operating under the assumption that the two were, not to put too fine a point on it, bedpartners, and that this was more than sufficient reason to refrain from outing any opponent, lest he retaliate in kind. (Somewhat similarly, I suspect that Blago knows all about this and has some incriminating materials of his own stashed away somewhere as a sort of insurance policy.)
Is all this totally aberrant, or if not, is it plausible to surmise that O is putting pressure on Giannoulias and the Democratic machine in Chicago to let this one slide, so that he doesn’t get dragged into — or rather, out — of it?
If there is in fact evidence concerning what the two basketball buddies have been getting up to off the court, wouldn’t it be their just deserts were it now to surface?
Obama in bed with the mog — literally.
Sorry, that should read: in bed with the mob!
I liked it better as “mog”.

From the photos I’ve seen, Giannoulias does have a certain self-satisfied je ne sais quoi quality, which is in need of a name, so …
Another semi-known local public servant is gay and hasn’t been caught red-handed in any flagrant acts or crimes? Yawn. And if he’s divorced or divorcing, he’s free to do what he wants.
What about Obama, Jeremiah Wright and Donald Young?

Mark Kirk is hardly conservative on any issue, and Jan Schakowski knows it. They can’t paint him into a corner of being socially conservative. In fact, if they pound on him as being conservative it could help with the GOP base, where he is weak.
The Kirk divorce and his personal life have raised questions these past couple of years. But, every body’s secretly gay, eh? That’s a bit of a stretch, isn’t it, with all due respect?
Everybody? where did they say everybody. I even re-read and I dont see where they said everybody is secretly gay.
They said they had shouted out that KIRK was gay….
Hi. Thanks for the link to the article. I enjoyed it and giggled in a few places.
The comment about sirens in the background as they were speaking was well done. It made me think of a police chase, trying to nab schatkowsky. Hahahaha. “All units, be on the look out for sour-milk raisin-face, aka Congresswoman Schatkowsky” heehee
Then the comment she made about giannoulis being much more congenial…comedy gold. Yah I bet he got congenial. Sounds like he gets congenial with those with either the mojo or the money. His lips prolly had a week long trout pout from that suction action.
Then, third, I dont think was meant funny at all but it struck me harder than an anvil.
…the implosion of his family bank….
My my my this is the DEM candidate. When did we do a phase change and the dem candidate have a FAMILY BANK! hahahahahaha, oh , heeeeheeeheeee
thanks hillbuzz for the info and the giggles. Here at work today is blah and it was just what I needed.

this post deserves the spray all over the screen award!!
thanks.
The reporter handed it all on a silver platter though. I giggled all the way though the article and half the comments.
So, Andy Martin (a stopped clock) was right? Andy Martin ad: “Roeser suggests that Kirk is part of a Republican party homosexual club.” Is there a club? LOL
I am one of the twelve who has occasionally read Illinois Review. My post there today, which merely referred people to this site for more info on Kirk, was removed within an hour.
Boyz,
Kirk, a RINO in every sense of the term, should be exposed as a liar and a hypocrite, but will Illinois really vote for a mobster?
They deserve the hell they create for themselves–just like us out in here in California.
Will Illinois elect a mobster? Ummm… living in Wisconsin all my life I know all about the Daley “machine”… does that answer your question?
Why is the man a liar & hypocrite? Is it just for being gay & not coming out? I am not familiar with the man, so I am asking the questions in earnest.
The hypocrisy stems from his bisexuality. According to the man who wants to out Kirk, it is over the issue of DADT…. now I believe that the motive of this man is wrong because it is vengeance… yet Kirk has a bad record when it comes to how he has been voting in the Congress.
What a wonderful choice, an A-hole or a SOB. Lock them in a cage and give baseball bats, winner take all.
Kirk has other problems besides possibly being a closeted gay man. He voted for cap and trade! He has tried to backtrack, but his vote is what it is. When will the Illinois Republicans learn that Democrat Lite is not the way to go. Judy Topinka, anyone? There were better candidates than Mark Kirk for this seat, but Kirk was the anointed one. I knew he would get the nomination, but I registered by protest vote against him anyway.
I have on occasion visited this site. This may not be appropriate for this particular conversation, but I have a gripe about Kirk that you may be able to get information on that his staff has been stonewalling me on.
In addition to claiming that he was Intelligence Officer of the Year, when he wasn’t, he also claims that he served in Afghanistan. He hasn’t ever deployed. I have asked his staff for his deployment dates and they tell me they will get back with me, but never have.
What he has been doing (as far as I can tell) is going over on congressional junkets for a few days at a time. He then has been able to use his influence as a Congressman to get in his “Active” time. No one, and I mean NO ONE, else can do this. It is highly inefficient and extremely expensive.
He is stealing not only my honor, sacrifice, and valor, but all those who wear the uniform of our country out of a sense of duty, not for political gain.
I humbly beseech upon you to use the influence and skills you have at your disposal to help me out this vile, gutless, pathetically weak coward as the fraud he is.
Very solid analysis. Well done guys.
And to Aussie I would say please consider that Kirk’s vote to keep DADT was WORSE because of his own situation. To free ride on the votes of others for repeal (a repeal that would take his nuts out of the fire, at least as far as his military service), makes his “no” vote even more feckless and cowardly.
Kirk was betting that a no vote on repeal would keep Republicans happy and deter embarrassing questions from the GOP base, and that when the bill passed anyway the gay community would be satisfied and give him a pass thanks to his past support on other gay issues.
He guessed wrong.
Kirk is very phony (on many levels) and he’s very thin skinned. And trust me, the guy is gay.
That marriage of his was more about convenience than a 7-11 SlimJim rack.
As this column pointed out, the issue of blackmail is very serious. Regardless of whether you are gay or straight, do you want your public officials casting votes on our laws based on fear that a big secret might be exposed if they vote the wrong way?
That’s why Kirk should have been honest from day 1.
It looks like the fear of blackmail “worked” for about 10 years. Kirk always towed the line for gay causes. But he broke ranks on DADT and now he’s got a huge problem.
Alexi G. is a poor candidate in many ways, and yes, his family’s bank did do business with some mobsters (hey, it’s a Chicago bank).
But Alexi’s stronger on gay rights than Kirk. And when he votes your way, at least you’ll know he’s not being blackmailed.
Alexi is even FOR same sex marriage. And he’s got a gorgeous girlfriend. But it’s no surprise the gay community would find this straight guy more trustworthy than Mark Kirk. No honest person really wants something via blackmail, even if it’s a vote in your favor. That’s no way to win.
As a lesbian, it’s hardly reassuring that Alexi G. is more trustworthy. Moral relativism of this sort is not reassuring at all. Given what I know of Chicago politics, votes via blackmail or arm twisting seem to be rules of the road.
At this time in our history I’m more worried about the economy, national security and other assorted asexual, genderless, color-blind, issues.
hey this is a very good summary of the position in regard to DADT and Kirk’s vote.
It still sounds like “damned if you do… and damned if you don’t”
I am not supporting Mark Kirk. What I do not like is the outing of people and their sexuality when it serves no useful purpose.
This happened only a few weeks ago in Australia to a NSW politician. He was photographed coming from the equivalent of Man’s Country… ooh la la!!!
On the other hand, another former NSW govt minister – George Orkopolous deserved to be outed because he was into young boys…. a very different story in my opinion… and yes he deserved to be outed and to be charged with his crimes.
Are you sure that Alexi is straight? He has been outed on other sites as a partner of the Obummer…
Alexi is definitely straight. There is no credible evidence that he’s the gay partner of Obama or anyone else. No way. That’s just wishful thinking from a few rabid Republicans, mostly the same ones still calling for Obama’s birth certificate even though he already produced it.
Outing may seem distasteful, and I can understand why good people would be uncomfortable when someone does it to another.
But we’re talking about public officials here with very important duties that impact all of us. At least a public official who has been outed has no incentive to give in to blackmail in the future. For once he or she is going to cast honest votes. That burden is removed.
Aussie, you seem to have elicited a response that doth protest too much …
Has it persuaded you that the idea is just bunk? Me, I’m still curious.
Mike Rogers is going to “out” Kirk? Who is Rogers? Is he a R? A fake R who is “owned” by the D’s? I may live in Wisconsin, and know about the Daley “machine”, but I don’t know anything about Rogers…..
Mike Rogers is a loyal DNC stooge whose job is to out gay Republicans or threaten closted ones so they vote the right way. He has been running a website that basically outs closete Republicans.
He never, to my knowledge, has outed a gay Democrat who was closeted.
Mike Rogers is no doubt a Democrat. But there is a logical explanation for why he has mostly outed Republicans. It’s the gay Republican lawmakers who make a big deal about “family values” and vote against the gay agenda to satisfy their GOP base. That’s clearly what annoys Rogers. It’s the hypocrisy.
The closeted Democrats on the other hand vote pro-gay, and they don’t have to worry about their own party punishing them.
But I’m sure if a closeted Democrat did betray the gay community, Rogers would out them too.
He’s “outed” democrats, too. His motivation is the hypocrisy of those in a position of power who hold homosexuals down, while expecting the community to keep the pol’s closet gay life secret.
Rogers’ documentary, Outrage, has a long segment about former NYC Mayor/homo Ed Koch. Rogers is relentless in lambasting Koch for failing to step up during the dawn of the AIDS era. Koch’s unwillingness to *lead* because he feared his own sexuality would be revealed, may have cost thousands of gay New Yorkers their lives.
Koch’s lover at the time was booted out of Koch’s life cold turkey when the kitchen got too hot. The lover later died of AIDS.
This topic is now drawing the ire of the Democrats: witness the troll infestation on this thread.
To the trolls who claim to be oh so sympathetic to gay concerns while also wanting to defend this hack Rogers’ honor: Obama is against gay marriage and has hardly been particularly vocal of his own accord in support of gay people, yet it seems clear has long been on the down-low. When will Rogers or his ilk of Democratic operatives go in for some equal-opportunity outing, as you claim they would? Oh right …
Can the rest of us, who don’t reside on the Democratic plantation nor depend on their payroll, call this breed the DADTrolls?
Section9: I gather you’re also one of the commenters at C4P. Thank you so much for all that you folks do!
Gay celebrities that are closet conservatives? Who? I can’t think of any of them that may be closet conservatives? Travolta, Cruise? Neither of them are likely to be conservative…although no doubt they are closeted gays.
Hahaha I can imagine a very indignant celebrity holding a press conference and very belligerently saying ” Ok, yeah I am gay, but how DARE YOU how friggen DARE YOU insinuate I am conservative? That, sir, is hate speech and I will be contacting my lawyers. I am not, and have nver been, a conservative”"
It’s official. Mark Kirk has been outed.
http://blog.blogactive.com/2010/06/truth-or-consequences.html
Why do you care? Seriously? I don’t care about a person’s sexual orientation as long as they serve their constituents and country “honestly” (whatever that means). Why is this some big triumph for you?
I’m sure you’re also pleased that Kevin who writes for this blog was outed too. Nope, if you’re gay or bi and are “closeted” (or just value your privacy) and you don’t vote for the gay agenda your life must be destroyed.
The thing is, I don’t even LIKE Kirk because he’s a disengenuous, RINO weasel, but I don’t think he should be raked over the coals because he’s not forthcoming about his sexual orientation. Seriously, why aren’t you up in arms about closeted Dems? Obummer?
Stop tooting your own horn. I’m so sick of it. Outing Kirk is not some big win for our republic. It’s a big win for machine politics and Dem machine politics at that.
You should be more concerned about that. Not who’s gay and who’s not.
Stop trying to be another Eaton. It’s so sleazy.
