Monday Open Thread: March 28th, 2011

Posted on March 28, 2011 by Bridget // Featured Content, Hillbuzz, Hillbuzz TV, Multimedia, Open Threads

Talk…talk….talk….talk.  The ultimate spin doctor.  I thought this video was appropriate for today considering the Spin Doctor in Chief is going to speak to us “little people” tonight about our “Kinetic Military Action” in Libya.

Blah!

So…what’s on your minds this Monday?

What are people talking about in your part of the country?

Call me petty or childish, but the first thing I heard on the news this morning was VCU beat The One’s pick, Kansas–and I burst into laughter. Still smiling, too :)

Was it just my imagination, or did it look like after The One made his picks he turned around & looked at his audience (for lack of a better word) like he expected everyone to give him praise & adoration for his picks?

Garden of Eden 2011: Just as Allen West told us last week – Boehner and his enforcer Pete Sessions squeezing and “turning out” our 87 Freshman and tempting them to eat the forbidden cocktail party fruit – Please contact them and tell to say “NO”

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0311/51774.html

how about just cutting the budget and most of all – ObamaCare – as promised – not:

unprecedented career-development program for their huge freshman class

    dual-track program

individual meetings to review their personal development and potential career track in the House –WTF?????????

…“Washington, D.C., is a swamp on the Potomac. When you travel in a swamp, there are very dangerous things in there. These new freshmen have to be vigilant and understand that those longtime swampgoers are there and will take every opportunity to take advantage of them,” said Mark Lloyd, chairman of the Lynchburg Tea Party in Virginia.

According to Sessions and other GOP leaders, the program includes weekly meetings, usually on Thursday, of all Republican freshmen to ensure they are on the same page on House business; smaller groups of freshmen that meet with leaders to discuss “best practices” as well as problems the new members have encountered; occasional policy forums; and individual meetings with each of the 87 first-term Republican members to review their personal development and potential career track in the House. Those personal meetings will be scheduled with Sessions or Oregon Rep. Greg Walden and at least one Boehner aide.

Sessions has worked as a close ally with Boehner and top aides to create what they call an unprecedented career-development program for their huge freshman class. “We want to take members in their day-to-day job and help them look over the horizon and at their performance on the team.”

Speaker Boehner: Are the checks still handed out on the House floor or in private now?

Media Matters has declared a ‘guerrilla’ war on Fox.
Investigations into upper and mid level executives are the order of the day and they seem oblivious to the Nazi quality of their actions. They apparently only want us to hear ‘vanilla’ news. I guess they don’t like a two party system in this country.
They also spoke of sabotage. I think it’s time to expose who these people are (Soros has given a million to MM and said today that we have it all wrong about his nefarious designs on this country and our freedoms (parapharasing).

“Powers had not sneaked into the event. He was chosen as the pool reporter for local media and was expecting to speak with guests in addition to hearing speeches by Biden and Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Florida).

“Instead, when he got there he was told the politicians had not yet arrived and hustled into a closet that seems to be more nicely appointed than my apartment…

“He was the designated pool reporter for the mainstream media. That Powers complied in his own marginalization reflects poorly on those folks…but it doesn’t excuse the administration’s extension of the “free speech zone” principle to the established press, or its abuse of Ginsburg’s hospitality.

“This is how the “most open and accessible administration in American history” treats accredited news organizations. Imagine how open they are with people who disagree with them.”

Once in awhile I try to argue facts but it is pretty useless and I resign myself to blather about social justice and how Democrats are on the side of the people. One wonders how much money will have to be shoveled to Wall Street, GE, GM, Chrysler, unions and “green” companies by Obama and his party members before the lemmings take notice and realize the “peoples” party is a bunch of greedy bastards. Donald Trump seems to want to pursue the birth certificate issue re: Obama. I wish there was a way of contacting Trump to let him know it really doesn’t matter if Obie was born in Hawaii or not since he said he has a KENYAN father and that makes him INELIGIBLE as you need two natural born citizens as parents for Obie to be president. But who knows what will come of Trump’s insistence on pursuing the birth certificate issue down the road…

I would like to comment on the headline stories on Drudge Report (which is quickly becoming a VERY UNRELIABLE source of news in my book).

The stories about the troops and “killing squads” in Afghan. Please know that the “source” of these news headlines is Rolling Stone magazine. Please also know that liberal lawyers have been harrassing our troops in the military for the better part of 10 years.

I personally know from experience a soldier who was accused of “murder” in the Army. The lawyers threated to have him hanged if he did not rat out people in his command and there were people in his platoon who DID make up stories to get off light. They were accused of MURDER because some Aphgan raised his hand with what looked like a weapon and he was shot…and the Army lawyers went to great lengths to paint his platoon as “murderers”. He is now in prison for 25 years. I saw first hand how these liberal lawyers work. DO NOT BELIEVE these stories. If these kids are coerced and threatened they will say anything…and they do. Now they have liberal journalists there ready for “exclusive interviews.”

This is only a scam by the left to discredit our military and hurt our country.

Just finished reading the Rolling Stones article re the “kill teams”. Not that RS is going to get a story right and is a left wing rag, but it looks like something went on. There are always going to be misfits in any org but this org had more than its share it seems. And why it seems that Army investigators and sup did not follow through is amazing. If you look at the bottom line here, there are major morale problems because our military is being mis-used[meals on wheels] and the ROE do not allow them to “fight back”. Add that to PC officer corp who do not want to make waves and you have a perfect storm for problems to fester and grow. This is another avenue to destroy and tear down the world’s best fighting that ever existed. It does not take very many to cause problems for the majority. I hope these goons get what is coming to them and everyone in the chain of command that allowed this is nailed. Salutes to the majority of our military that is trying to do an impossible job and also holding on to their humanity. I am proud to have served for 20 years with such people and it brings tears to my eyes to see our military honor so sullied.

Don’t be fooled. Rolling Stone is the enemy of our military. They have already been discredited with stories that were not true regarding our military, our military leaders…our Generals…Don’t believe it.

The “Kill Team” story by Rolling Stone is a plant story by the government. Liberals and liberal lawyers are trying to discredit our military and this is what that is about.

Our military children are being bribed and coerced by these liberal lawyers who have infiltrated the military to confess to horrific things and rat on fellow soldiers or they are being threatened with death sentences or life in prison. I PERSONALLY know a person who is victim to this.

Bev, I have no doubt that there are people, units, orgs, within our govt that are attempting to tear it down. There really is a shadow govt ops going on, I have no doubt. But there seems to be enough meat in this charge[along with pictures?] that it needs to be investigated. I am not so naive as to believe that atrocities do not take place in war,,they always did and always will,,hell, war is a”controlled atrocity’ if you will, but sometimes necessary. To end, wasn’t it Shakespeare who first said to get rid of all lawyers, probably the second oldest profession but the first has more integrity.

Bev,I agree that there is a shadow govt within that is dismantling and causing chaos. However, I am not so naive to not know that atrocities are committed in all wars[hell, war itself is an atrocity, although "legal"]. If there is any “smoke” to this gun, than it needs to be checked. If it is false, than that will come out. I agree, 99% of our military are honorable, we can not let 1% sully the rest.

what kills your comments though, is a case of some soldiers who really were a kill team.

This has been in the news over here. The soldier was found guilty and the photos taken were really shocking.

Not everyone is perfect, unfortunately. These are the people who taint any military.

Nope. Can’t stand the sound of his voice or see him wagging his finger at the Nation when he lectures us.

Further, he is a liar. Whenever he attempts to provide specific facts to bolster the thrust of his position, he either lies or spouts out some terribly skewed and misleading #s.

They’ll probably do a running commentary on Hot Air, which should be entertaining. I’m not going to listen to the jackass.

It’s interesting that Harry Reid evidently sees people who want less spending to be a threat.

When the Republican party calls me for a donation, I tell them I am supporting individuals until I see whether they are going to toe the conservative line of less spending and govt. intervention, whether I call myself a member of the Tea Party or not.

Confirmed – While the cocktail party allow Jon Huntsman to attend 2012 candidate events – Dems keep alleged Republican Jon Huntsman on their short list to replace Joe Biden on the 2012 with major DEM endorsement of Hunstman

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0311/52016.html

Clemons may, however, yet break the hearts of his Democratic friends.
“I think Jon Huntsman is terrific,” he said in a recent email. “I do and have talked with him on many occasions. Last met him at his office in Beijing but looking forward to seeing him soon at his new home in Kalorama. He reminds me of Chuck Hagel — and I might support him if he runs. I think he’d make a great president.”

Some news from Downunder. New South Wales had an election. So what? you will say… but it is the results that were extremely significant.

Last year in November, Victoria also had an election that saw a change of government. I thought the result was unexpected. The big losers in Victoria were the Watermelon Party.. yep, the watermelons aka the Greens were touted to pick up certain seats, and they got a bit of a thumping.

Well, it was the turn of NSW. Kristina Keneally was born in Ohio so you could say that there was an element of resentment towards this woman Premier because she was not born an Australian in certain quarters. To cut the long story short the NSW govt was corrupt and wracked with scandal after scandal.

Anyway, the result was a thumping 16% swing to the Liberal Party (the conservative party) with Lib-NP coalition on 69 seats, ALP on probably 20 seats, fewer Independents and the watermelons picking up nothing when they were expected to pick up two seats.

What was astonishing was the seats being won in areas that were heavy ALP strongholds. In one electorate the swing was 35%!!!!

This result translates into an angry electorate which could translate into Juliar-the Marxist-Gillard ending up taking a whopping when she dares to go to the polls again.

It is the attempt to introduce the carbon tax… stupid…..
