Monday Open Thread: January 10th, 2011
Just words? If the Democrats want to put blame for the tragedy this past weekend on anyone, why not start with the "community organizer" in the Oval Office who's been urging people to violence for the last two years?
Can you keep an eye out today for how the morning shows and other Leftist media try spinning the assassination attempt on Congresswoman Giffords? That’s going to start full-swing today.
How is the event being covered in your local news? Can you cite examples and provide links?
We’re keeping a running record of how the media is covering this event, and all attempts by the media to falsely pin this assassination attempt and murder spree on the Tea Party and conservatives. The shooter was a mentally ill young man with a history of bizarre behavior, who also happened to be a committed Leftist according to his friends. He was a flag-burner who ranked the Communist Manifesto as one of his favorite books. That makes him someone more likely to attend one of Obama’s rallies than a Tea Party event.
If you are a conservative and you are reading this, I hope you realize that “taking the high road”, “just ignore them”, and all the other cliches commonly tossed at you to make you sit quietly and take whatever the Left is doing that day are just not acceptable anymore. You must see the Left and its media propaganda wing for what they truly are — and you must realize the two work hand in hand to do whatever they can to help Democrats.
That includes taking a national tragedy and playing politics with it…which is what the media did in this instance before the first victim of the shooting even arrived in a hospital. With absolutely nothing known about what was going on, the media decided it was going to pin this on the Tea Party because the Tea Party must be destroyed since it is a threat to the Democrats.
If you are a Harry Potter fan, it’s like the Ministry of Magic and Daily Prophet teaming up to destroy the Order of the Phoenix because it’s a threat to Voldemort and the Deatheaters. The media in America has declared conservatives who stand up for the constitution and individual rights to be Undesirable Number One, and they will stop at nothing to use every opportunity available to malign and attack anyone who doesn’t cower before Democrat thuggery.
Don’t let them get away with this, not this time.
Document everything the media is doing. Take screengrabs of all instances where major news networks erroneously attempt to blame the Tea Party for this. Research other instances of the media doing this as well. Start piecing together the pattern of the American media driving an inaccurate narrative repeatedly because it’s what Democrats want them to do.
Enough is enough.

I read on another site about a guy by the name of Vellek who was part of the Giffords team. He showed no courage, and instead he hid and then ran for the bank… what a friggin coward. Compare that to Daniel Hernandez and Joe Zamudio!!

An extreme, left-wing Democrat group calling itself 21st Century Democrats has had the gall to send out an email blast using as a fundraising tool Saturday’s criminal shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona. Judge John Roll and four others were killed in the incident, one of them a 9-year-old girl, but these Democrats are ignorant enough to be using this incident to try and squeeze donations from its supporters. Some might think the action of 21st Century Democrats is itself a crime — a crime against decency.

Don’t worry, it would take more than that to take Sarah Palin down. They have tried, and tried..and tried..and tried…always a new “now Palin is toast” since her resignation and she is still on top.

I would love to help you guys out, but 10 minutes of CNN Saturday night had my BP spiking in stroke range. All local news coverage around here is being taken up by another 6+ inches of global warming dumped on the deep South last night anyway.
On the bright side, my Mom had it on a news channel yesterday, and my very apolitical cousin remarked on the media’s attempt to blame everything in the universe on Sarah Palin. They’re so over the top that even people who don’t pay attention are starting to notice.
On that note, maybe we should cover the coverage with ridicule. I hate to sound flippant in the face of such a tragedy, but maybe we should be asking if plans are already in place to blame the next earthquake on Sarah Palin because she uses the phrase “We need to shake things up.”.
We need to contact all Repub leaders and demand they commit to correcting the propaganda about our Sarah in EACH interview they do! 24/7 After all this not about politics right?
So will our Cocktail Party put the thought of 2012 aside and stand by our Sarah? This is a THEIR true test going into 2012!

Has any democrat leader denounced any of this politicizing? Have any cooler heads prevailed over on that side? I haven’t seen much TV over the weekend and I am just wondering if there’s any voice of reason over there on the other side.
Another thing – they’ve found some strange shrine containing a human skull replica in the Loughner family backyard. The question is – did the parents know this? Reports are starting to trickle in from various angles that people were worried about this guy. The school, folks from at least one website that I know of, everyone is saying they were worried he might do something.
I think it’s odd we are not hearing anything official from our “friend” the Sheriff or any of his underlings. If this had been a conservative kid it would be all over the news.
On our local news last night here in Tucson, some neighbors of the Loughners were interviewed. One guy said the father had anger issues and had gotten in to some arguments about trash. The landscaping in front of the house was overgrown so much, you couldn’t see the front of the house.

The Guardian today has an article about the shooting and places the blame on the Tea Party, calling them names (funny, I thought they were about stopping all the vitriol) Like they have the remotest idea what they are about..or anything American is about. They blame Palin for remarks which had nothing to do with violence. Apparently,
they don’t understand that having someone in the crosshairs is a phrase we’ve all used to call attention to someone for one purpose or another, like working to get them voted out of office. That’s too difficult for Brits to understand, obviously.
I guess they still haven’t forgiven us for gaining our independence from them.
The Guardian is their equivalent of the Washington Post or the New York Slimes. It’s a left wing rag.

It essentially debunks the myth that Sarah Palin, the Tea Party and violent rhetoric since the 2008 election set this guy off…because he had a problem with this woman DATING BACK TO 2007!
He met her at a previous similar event and was pissed that she didn’t answer a question from him that, like his videos, made no sense at all. “Loughner was angry about her response — she read the question and had nothing to say.”
Assuming Loughner purchased the gun himself, he could not have done so until he was 21. That partly explains why he waited so long. I also believe that Saturday was Gifford’s first such event in Tuscon since 2007 (I could be wrong there).
In any case, I believe Sarah Palin is thoroughly exonerated, and the left needs to start apologizing. I won’t hold my breath. I think MOST people were seeing that target map for the very first time when the liberals gleefully distributed it after the shooting. Are we really supposed to believe that a young guy with no apparent connection to Sarah Palin, the Tea Party or Republicans not only saw this map, but that it motivated his shooting spree almost a full year later??
Your original post documenting that all kinds of leftists use military metaphors and that the shooter was a leftist if anything, was the best that I’ve seen. But it’s full of “updates”, disorganized, etc. Why don’t you rework it into another original post, so we can forward it all around?

Okay a lot of people continue to insist Sarah Palin’s Facebook map with some crosshairs on vulnerable districts amounts to incitement to murder, even though the exact same sort of map is fairly common currency among liberals and Democrats, too. And the connection between Palin’s map and the deranged murderer’s actions are nothing like proven, or even credible.
Well, let’s take them at their word.
Let us “hold our fire” and talk no more of “campaigns.”
Let us ban the phrase “over the top” even when discussing over the top rhetoric.
Never again must we focus on “battleground states” or even cast our eyes on a “battleground” poll.
Goodbye ad “blitzes,” “ad wars,” and “air wars” too. Politicians shouldn’t “fire when ready” or unready. And aides should never jump on even a figurative grenade.
This is the end of to union-launched “offensives” in the “trenches” and the demise of full-on “assaults.”
Let’s not discuss the “nuclear option,” and call an end to the “wars” on poverty and cancer.
We must liberate ourselves from our “bunkers” and forget “defending our territory” electorally or metaphorically. Likewise, let us never speak again of opening a new “front” here, there or anywhere.
Purge from the history books Al Gore’s oath to “stand and fight” and John Kerry’s schmaltzy “reporting for duty.”
Alas, I cannot think of what to call this cessation in militaristic discourse, since none dare call is a “truce” or a “ceasefire.”

The Tucson Red Cross put out a plea for blood since they depleted their supply. The wait at one location was six hours and they had to turn people away. All from a city that the Sheriff said was a mecca of bigotry!

Don’t be so defeatist. Republicans roared back into power in November. The majority knows exactly what the media is doing, and will ignore them.
Indianapolis’ local news stations all work from the same template the mainstream press sets up for them. 1) They replayed Sarah Palin’s statement, “we need to reload” and showed the map with targets printed on it ad nauseum, 2) all of them had an interview with Rep. Andre Carson (D) – black, marxist and Muslim – who whined about how many death threats he and his late grandmother, Julia Carson, received, and 3) one station briefly noted that Mike Pence (R – Conservative) would have stepped up security at his three public appearances this week. No interviews or mentions of any death threats he’s ever received, no mention of the recent Daily Kos “..She’s dead to me..” headlines and no mention that Loughner’s favorite books were The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf. None of these media types show any real investigative or critical thinking skills. And they wonder why their ratings are in the tank.
Call them. Email them. Tell them how disgusted you are with the politicization of this event. You have a voice.

I did want to confirm that even some of my moderate/non-political friends have noticed the over-the-top blaming on Sarah Palin and thought it was kind of stupid. A lot of people realize that so-called “violent rhetoric” (targets, fights, etc) is just a normal part of political language, or competitive language in general (I’m looking at you, sports/athletics). I am trying to tell these people, you what violent rhetoric? Look to what the LEFT is saying and you’ll be shocked you never noticed it before.

It was good to see FOX news do some balanced coverage this morning about the rush to ascribe political motivations to the shooter. They had a spokeman for the TEA party who came down pretty hard on the Left. James Rosen gave a part of his story he has up about Left wing sources playing politics with this early on.
Yep…and as people always do…when the liberal media goes off the deep end they tune into Fox to see what the deal is. It’s why their ratings go so high when there is a crisis.
The left has a habit of digging its own hole to fall into. This is one of those times. The more that comes out about this guy the more they have will have to walk themselves back.

This is a nicely written article. The news media has turned the corner into ugly territory and it must not be tolerated.
I’m seeing pushback by the conservatives in a respectful way the way it should be. I am POSITIVE Bill O’Reilly will be all over this and his news show is very highly watched. Whenever the left vilifies the right Fox news’ ratings go thru the roof and for good reason. People know what the liberal media does and Fox sets the story straight.
The left is refining its strategy to attack Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and the right…but it’s also an opportunity for US to practice pushing back.

I no sooner got to work this AM and mentioned the shooting to my boss and his IMMEDIATE response was that this was going to hurt Sarah Palin very badly. I told him that the guy was a loony leftist. He said that that didn’t matter. It was still going to hurt SP.
It’s normal to get angry and vent and be disturbed by what is happening…but it’s SMART to take action. Write the news people who do these attacks and call them on it. Write and email your congressmen/women and senators. Write/email your friends. Post things on social media.
Remember…the left’s strategy is to create chaos. They want to elicit a reaction. They WANT you to become enraged. NOTHING would make the left’s day more than for some conservative to go out and do something stupid. They are poised, ready, and waiting. They are doing everything in their power to provoke such an act. They have yet to be successful. This is why they do this. They want you to be enraged and react. They want you to feel overwhelmed…disillusioned…and defeated.
But Americans are not this stupid. This is why Fox’ news ratings are through the roof. This is why Democrats were thrown out of office in November. The SMART thing to observe and act…in a calm, intelligent way. Have faith in the American people.

We have more rain. The flood situation in Queensland has just reached critical.
8 people have been confirmed dead, and there are 60 people missing. This happened in the region of Brisbane at Ipswich and Toowoomba. The Brisbane River broke its banks.
The waters came swirling and hit people without warning.
The dead includes 3 children, one of them is a boy aged 13 who died along with his mother.
