Monday Open Thread

What’s on your mind this Monday morning?

We’re wondering what the CIA is going to do to Nancy Pelosi this week.  What’s really interesting is what the Republicans, specifically Michael Steele, will do.

Steele is a smart, smart man.  Will he give the go ahead for the GOP to take Pelosi down and encourage her ouster, or will Steele keep Pelosi around so she damages Democrats in 2010?  Personally, we want Pelosi to go down now, but we’d also like to see her take down as many bad Democrats from the far left with her as possible.  All the Pelosi Democrats can go as far as we are concerned.

The CIA seems to have something new in store for Madame Speaker every week, so we wonder what day the new surprise will come this time.  What do you think, and what do you think it will be?

It’s almost like Christmas morning waiting to open the presents, anticipating Pelosi getting what’s coming to her.

What a great opportunity to start a clean-up and put some of these people in their place. It is no longer about the American people…it’s about party.

Are you kidding? CIA will never go after the Dems. They’ll go only after the GOP. One leak and the Dems have already started squealing about how the CIA is out to get them. How many leaks did CIA manage under Bush administration and they never complained.

Fact is, liberals are liberals no matter the organization. If a liberal is lurking in CIA, he’ll try and sabotage a Republican president, because for him everything is fair, ends justify means. Whereas the same liberal won’t do anything to jeopardize a Democratic President. The conservatives too will be honor-bound to serve the President and they won’t think of unfairly harming the administration. Which means that Democratic administrations win.

It’s the same principle with the media. The media will never tell a truth about Obama and will go to inordinate lengths to slime the Republican opponents.

That’s why I don’t think CIA will do anything to Nancy and this whole affair will be forgotten by Wednesday.

      Hey, Michelle!

Watched a few moments of Fox & Friends just now. Megyn Kelly had a visual aid that I hope Fox posts somewhere . . .the “Nanc-o-Meter.” It’s a graph that has dates & Pelosi’s level of claimed knowledge (didn’t know, sorta knew, knew). Think graphic of stock market.

It’s all over the ballpark! Really puts her lying hypocrisy out there for all to see.

Taped last Friday’s Glenn Beck on Fox. Just now watched part of it.

He had an assembly of common people from all walks of life.

One was a Chrysler dealer from New Jersey, I believe, who got his dealership termination in the mail. Now, I thought this meant that they wouldn’t be getting new cars in the fall, he’d have to take down his sign, yada-yada. Well!

This man said that Chrysler came in and took ALL his new cars and moved them down the road to a dealership that survived!!! Glenn made a point to ask him if the cars were bought & paid for and the dealer said yes, they were.

Folks, this is scarier than I thought . . .

Yeah it is scary… Here in Michigan it is downright horror… The task force is running things, and of course not very well… I am worried if GM goes down, I think the entire country will feel that one.

    • TXMom says:
      2009/05/18 at 10:21 am

      Hi, NeeNee,
      Very scary, indeed.
Frank Kent dealerships are family owned business that have been here a very long time. I will add this to the following article: Kent Dodge is profitable; however, Chrysler, even after asking Mr. Churchill to expand, closed down his store but sent the cars to a dealership just down the street that has not been as profitable as Frank Kent. This is fascism. Mr. Churchill is appealing and will possibly sue.

Shock is settling over the Frank Kent Dodge dealership in Fort Worth. Word today from Chrysler: the automaker is shutting them down. Will Churchill says, “No one expected it at all. It came out of nowhere.”

Owner Will Churchill says the dealership is profitable, ranked 83rd in the country and has made money every month this year. He and his sister bought the dealership a year and a half ago, after being approached by Chrysler. Will Churchill says, “We helped them, we overpaid for it, we grew their market share. Back in December, January February when they were asking dealers to take cars we went and paved 6 acres of land across the street took 200 cars we didn’t need trying to do our part and then today this is where we end up.”

Will Churchill, co-owner of Frank Kent Dodge, said his family bought the dealership 18 months ago AT CHRYSLER’S URGING and paved six acres last winter so it could buy additional vehicles from Dodge and help keep the automaker’s factories open.
“We feel betrayed.” He estimated that the family has more than $3 million invested in the dealership.

      • listing starboard says:
        2009/05/18 at 10:51 am

I keep saying that closing of dealerships and factories is more than likely based on if the owner is a Dem or Repub, or if it is in a Red state. Just like I bet most soldiers deployed for the most dangerous areas live in Red States. Just like I bet most of the Stimulus money went to Blue states.

At first, I wanted Pelosi out immediately, too.

But, I think having her around will be helpful in the 2010 elections. After all, she’s the architect of the “stimulous” bill and all of the rest of this Congress’ destructive policies.

We don’t want the Dems to be able to say, “It’s all Pelosi’s fault, and we got rid of her.” We want to be able to point to all of their shenanigans and say, “Look at the damage done, and they still have her in office.”

If she’s gone, she just becomes a scapegoat of the past. If she’s still there, she becomes a symbol of their corruption and lies.

    Does that make any sense?

    • PVG says:
      2009/05/18 at 3:31 pm

Yes, it does make sense. Rush said that exact thing today. With NP there, she’s an easy target.
And let’s face it, she’s lost every shred of cred she had. No one can take her seriously cuz she’s a liar and she made a fool of herself. Let’s see if I can pile on anything else.

So far as I know, there’s been no retraction. She’s sticking to her story.

Hey peeps–wanted to give you all a sum up of my weekend at the NRA convention.

We didn’t go to the Forum on Friday because Palin wasn’t there and I wasn’t really interested in hearing anyone else speak other than Marcus Lutrell. So we drove out on Sat and stayed with family and headed down to the expo that afternoon.

Little trivia for ya- the banquet dinner was the largest in AZ history catering to more than 6000 people. The auditorium was GINORMOUS and it took us almost 5 minutes of bobbing and weaving to find our table.
Now the following events may NOT be in chronological order–my freaking feet were killing me from trying to walk 9 miles from the parking garage in 4 inch heels. I ended up accidentally forgetting our tickets in the car and my husband had to run all the way back to get them only having about 15 minutes. tee hee. I hid in the bathroom when he returned so he wouldn’t murder me infront of everyone. :)
After sitting down they introduced the President, Vice President, speakers, etc. Then suddenly a beautiful melody filled the echoing auditorium as a sherrif’s deputy (i think-some sort of deputy)began singing the National Anthem. OH. MY. GOD. It was one of the most beautiful renditions I’ve EVER heard. After wiping the tears off my cheeks and getting my blubbering under control, we honored the vets by having them stand and playing their anthems. It was awesome and there were SO MANY there.

I don’t remember when exactly this happened but La Pierre (Exec VP) introduced a true patriot-JOSEPH HELLER!!! We all gave him a standing ovation and he was smiling and pumping his fists in the air.

After finishing our dinner, John Stossel gave his speech. I was impressed. He first talked about a story he did where he showed that guns SAVE PEOPLES LIVES. How would we defend ourselves against those who wish to do us harm or break into our homes. He talked about a story he did where he asked high school students why America was the #1 super power. He then talked about how Hong Kong had risen to power because of their economic freedom. He talked a lot about how Obama has shoved his policies down our throat and now we’re having to pay for them. He also compared what we are going through now to what people went through in the Carter administration. It was good. After he finished, the presented him with an authentic script from the Revolutionary War. It was freaking awesome!!!

Then it was Ollie North’s turn. WOW. He was ON FIRE and my hands hurt from clapping so much. He talked about our soldiers and how they serve in active duty for way longer than the soldiers did in his time. He also talked about how the re-enslistment rate is equal to or greater than what it was when he served. He then started talking about the DHS memo that was released about right wing extremists. He went CRAZY-he was so pissed and he brought down the house. At the end, they presented him with a custom musket made from what looked like tiger wood. It was GORGEOUS. He took the podium, raised the musket over his head and said as his last words “FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS OBAMA!” Everyone went crazy! It was so loud and we all stood for several minutes.

The final act was a young girl who sang “God Bless America.” It was pretty late when we left but it felt like it hadn’t lasted that long.

On Sunday we went back to go to the main event which was the gun show. For you gun nuts out there, it was like being in Heaven! Every gun you could imagine was there and you could HANDLE ALL OF THEM! EVEN THE 50 CALS! It was HUGE and we wandered around for almost 4 hours before we were all exhausted. My brother is a member of the Golden Eagles and La Pierre was supposed to shake his hand if he saw him on the floor. Well, I took my camera so I could take pictures if we saw him. Well my bro took off to go look for something and met La Pierre while we weren’t there!! He came up afterwards and told us “You’re fired!!” and showed us the business card that La Pierre had given him! I was so pissed. Oh well.

Overall, it was an AMAZING experience. These things are only going to get bigger because of the coming firestorm over guns and gun rights. For those of you who don’t have guns, don’t know how to use them, don’t like them, or whatever–Remember that the Second Amendment is the defender of the rest. Guns are the great equalizers. And in the words of Charlton Heston, “The right to defend ourselves is the most rare and hard won right in human history.” I hope you all take the steps to learn how to handle and shoot a gun and take advantage of this God given right. It will be under attack soon enough…

EXCELLENT report! I feel like I was there with you! I can’t wait until you teach me all I need to know about gun handling. I’m sure there isn’t a better teacher. I believe the 2nd Amendment relates directly to the rights of the citizenry. There’s no way around it.

And I can tell you that the two times I was held up at gunpoint, neither guy (the first one was a 16-year-old kid!) got his gun legally! (They both were caught, and I live–so lucky me!)

    Mia, magnificent reporting!

Both John Stossel and Jake Tapper of ABC are asking hard questions of the Obama administration. Kind of reminds me of Bernie Goldberg’s experience, in which he denounced decades of being a liberal. (yes, Hillbuzz Boyz, I’m still reading Bias, and plan to do a post contrasting/comparing Goldberg & Tapper).

Stossel is a declared Libertarian. Interesting to watch if he & Tapper will officially move over to the conservative moment at some point in time. Of course, that’s defining “conservative” as including folks of all stripes–traditional Republicans, as well as some Dems and independents.

TOP TEN REASONS TO SCORN NANCY PELOSI:
    From Human Events

    1. Attacked the Bush administration for waterboarding terrorists even though she was briefed on the practice and did nothing.

    2. Sent a so-called stimulus package to President Obama that was filled with pork and didn’t give members of Congress time even to read it.

3.Vocally opposed the Iraq surge in 2007.

    4. Undercut the Bush administration by traveling to Syria and then misstating the Israeli position in talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

    5. Insisted on using large military aircraft for her own travels, treating the Air Force like her personal airline.

    6. Pushed for an increase in the minimum wage that sought to exclude American Samoa, where Del Monte Foods (headquartered in Pelosi’s district) is a major employer.

    7. Has failed to effectively police her Democratic caucus with members Jane Harmon (spies and wiretaps scandal), John Murtha (earmarks for contributions) and Charles Rangel (tax evasion) under suspicion for misconduct.

    8. Supports reinstating the Fairness Doctrine for broadcasters.

    9. Wants to reinstitute the assault-rifle ban and place restrictions on the manufacture, sales and ownership of guns.

    10. Despite her Roman Catholic faith, she is rabidly in favor of extending abortion rights.

I don’t consider myself a conspiracy theorist usually, but I am wondering why the price of regular gas here (East TN) has gone from $1.84 to $2.15 in about 2 weeks…and it’s going up in chunks, not a penny or two at a time. Is this the normal summer holiday price hike or something more sinister? I do believe that the price of oil was artificially driven up after Pelosi and crew took over Congress in 2006–which eventually drove the economy into the tank after the price of gasoline was added onto the cost of delivery for foodstuffs and other items. Great set up for the 2008 election and an opportunity to make the oil industry appear the epitome of EEEVILLL. Now that the WH has control of the banks, the auto industry, and soon, apparently, healthcare, is this a setup to make the oil industry next? And here’s the thing…I know my dad invested in oil stocks, but so are huge portions of most pension and investment funds, I do believe. If there is a takeover, buh-bye, 401(k), or what’s left of them. Or am I just paranoid??

      MFD-

thought the same thing today up here in Chicago. Price is steadily marching upward, and looking over at the commodities markets I’m not seeing anything in the last month or so to cause a hike (over 30, sometimes 40 cents a gallon) like this.

But hey, the stuttering dope is announcing new cafe mileage standards and granholm (destroyer of economies) is in dc today. So maybe the gas hikes were all a runup to make barky the bonehead’s lil’ announcement seem clever and not another body blow to the US car industry.

Who knows with this crew of thieves, whores, and ne’er do wells.

    • BlueStateBilly says:

We have a tremendous amount of chicanery here in WNY regarding gas prices.

Last year when it went as high as 5-plus dollars a gallon we were among the highest in the nation, then when it dropped, we were the last area in the country to drop. Gas is ALWAYS 20-30 cents higher a gallon here than anywhere else.

We hear endless bloviating from so-called public servants who promise to look into the hows and whys and then never do a damn thing.

Last year there was supposed to be a federal case being made, but like everything else it fizzled.

Every year it goes up as Memorial Day approaches. I heard Tom Sullivan say something about the commodity angle. I don’t understand too much about it, but don’t feel oil should be traded as a commodity. Just sayin’

Yeah…they want it to go back to 4 and over per gallon because they discovered that is the point where people “break”..as in they stop driving as much and stop buying big SUV’s and Trucks…and buy smaller, more efficient vehicles…You are right…this is definitely part of the conspiracy…

  • Pie in the Sky says:
    2009/05/18 at 4:51 pm

I don’t know anything about a conspiracy, and I don’t understand the whole global element.
But I do have access to information about the Gulf of Mexico and my source there has said for 6 months or more that this price increase is inevitable, and that point has been emphasized by my source even more since Obama announced the new taxes on drillers in the Gulf, along with new rules to disallow tax deductions for intangible drilling costs. That announcement was in February, I believe. When the price went up last summer people adjusted their habits and demand fell. Also, Hurricane Ike destroyed some of the pipelines that take the oil from the off-shore wells to the refineries in Houston. Some of those pipelines will not be back in business until the fall, at the earliest. So the wells served by those pipelines are shut down for now because there is nothing to do with the oil. Also, since demand is off and new taxes are on the horizon, there is not much new drilling going on. I understand that it is very cheap to rent a drill in the Gulf right now, because there are so many riggers out of work. This portends even higher prices down the road. From drilling to selling the oil is usually 6 to 12 months in the Gulf. So if no one much is drilling now – guess what happens to the price of the little bit of oil that will be available in a year?

Wish I had an underground tank, but the EPA makes that economically unfeasible now. Years ago the family business had underground tanks to fuel the pick-up trucks and excavating machines. Fees, and required inspections with even more fees, negate any possible savings for a small business now. All you can do is save as much money now as you can because you just know what is going to happen….
