Mitt’s falling behind.

Governor Rick Perry
Rasmussen is about to release it’s post-Iowa poll numbers ( this is a national poll…not just Iowa). It appears that Perry is already ahead of Romney by 11 points. Mitt can’t be too happy about that. Romney was greatly minimized when Perry jumped in the race.
Here are Rasmussen’s numbers:
Perry 29, Romney 18, Bachmann 13, Paul 9.
Fox News is speculating that Paul Ryan might be considering a run. They’re reporting that he’s been meeting with political strategists but Ryan is still denying that he’s entering the race.
Things are going to get very interesting once Governor Palin throws her hat in the ring.
Uh….Mitt who?

And it is has already started. LA Times has a story about Ricky's crony capitalism: favors to donors. Could quickly take off his shine if that becomes a meme. Good thing Mrs P can run against crony capitalism as her record on that accord is spotless. Ricky, did you really want you dirty laundry aired? Sort of takes away from that Eagle Scout thing. Being one, as are my brother, father and son, there is a code to honor and uphold. And crony capitalism goes against everything an Eagle Scout is to stand for.
Any candidate has to be totally prepared for the total colon examination by the media and the Left. This may occur for Left candidates, but the media refuses to make an issue out of anything that may turn up. We have a Treasury Sec to prove it.
Is there anything lately about Sarah and if/when she'll announce?
That sounds just like Østupid. Yet they ignore his corruption.
Sorry, guys. I used to like Palin, but her indecision is getting tiresome. It's starting to remind me of Obama and Afghanistan, Obama and the oil spill, Obama and the Arab Spring…you get the idea. She has convictions and expresses them well, but if she takes this long to decide whether or not she's running, it doesn't look good for how she will react to situations in the Oval Office. Now that Perry is in and Mitt has a credible competitor, Perry is looking better and better.
Why should Palin jump in now? Let people have a couple of weeks to look over Perry and decide whether or not he's a decent candidate — for once Palin jumps in, the spotlight will be on her, and the media are practically guaranteed to ignore everyone else (and not vet anyone else but her).
She's not indecisive. She's employing strategy. There is no advantage to getting in now; she already has her grassroots army in place and she doesn't have to worry about funding; and she's learned how to employ judo against the media.
it is not indecision. Who are you really with ? Old smelly?
I gave a fair amount of money to SarahPAC. I was excited about her in February. In March. In April. In May. In June. Sort of excited in July. Now I don't know what to think. I feel as if I may have been played for a fool. So I gave my next increment of money to Perry. Not a perfect candidate, but I like his willingness to make a commitment to run and get on with it.
Rick Perry. He's my governor and has done a good job here.
Uh oh. The trolls are pushing Perry.
See Kevin's previous article about Mittens Romney prepping the stage for an HRC comeback, add a paragraph about being a former dem, insert Perry's name… and Voila!
I'm waiting for Sarah.
Romney's campaign is uninspiring, but people see Romney as the most electable and if people see Perry and Bachmann as unelectable in the general they will not support with money and votes them in the Primary.
The Primary is focused on who can defeat Obama and not who will run the country best. Perry, Palin and Bachmann are seen as unelectable if they want to win they needs to be able to win the independents. People seem to like President Obama personally and Obama is a great campaigner. Lets remember how Democrats can force the election to be about small unimportant issues where they do better than the economy where the Democrats have failed.
Perry is not seen as unelectable. He has some of the qualities that make him electable. Ditto with Palin. However, Bachmann is a very different story.
Rae, when you say "people see Romney as the most electable" I find myself asking, "What people?" The media??? The GOP elites? I don't hear anyone out here in the boonies excited about Mitt Romney, and more than they were in 2008 when he lost the nomination to McCain. And NOBODY liked McCain!
The media is on a crucifixion campaign against Michelle Bachman (as evidenced by this week's Newsweek cover). This means she scares them. Rick Perry scares them. Sarah Palin scares them. I think it's a great idea for Palin to sit the primary season out until she absolutely MUST get in the race. To go in early just wastes precious time and money. How about Palin and Allen West? Then they can't call us "racists." Well, they can, but…
Whether or not the media attempt to crucify Bachmann, she is doing a great job all on her own. As a foreigner I belong to the "anyone but Bachmann" camp. Sorry, but that lady is the same as Østupid. She has no executive experience. On top of that I do not like some of her actions in Iowa.
She’s not my candidate by any means, but it’s not fair to say she doesn’t have executive experience. She and her husband apparently started a successful business together, which is certainly more than you can say for Østupid.
Indecision … I think Sarah Palin is just waitng for the right time.
Yeah, there really is no hurry, or reason to jump in yet. The first primary isn't until late Jan 2012! Let the loony left media kill the other GOP candidate, which they will. They can't get anything new on SP, they've already run the gamut. Patience…
Sarah knows exactly what she is doing. Remember, she will not only be running for POTUS, she will also be dismantling the LSM and the GOP establishment as well as Obama. That is a tall order and it is all about strategy. The woman is brilliant, not indecisive. It will all be on her time-table, not anyone else's.
"Ronald Reagan, the 33rd Governor of California, announced his candidacy for President of the United States in New York City on November 13, 1979"
All this effort and frustration because the field isn't set yet – folks, it's only August 2011! There is well over a year until the election and I think the Republicans would gain tremendous advantage by pointing out that Bambi is spending all his time running for re-election instead of dealing with the problems that are facing the country right here and now.
Bridget, as an Indy, I have no vote in a primary, but I will vote for whomever is running against O'Blame-o.
As a Native Texan, Perry is okay by me!
Totally different world. The iowa straw poll was in Jan of 1980. The the first real primary was in late Feb. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_%28…
Ah, here in GA, no need to register with a party. Then you get to vote in any primary you would like.
State of Alaska has put a term on Palin in which she is not allowed to do much politically (such as run for anything) for 25 months after she has left office. She left office at the end of July 2009. It is now August 2011… and close to the end.
The State of Alaska has some serious issues concerning polticians and running and flip flopping around. This was actually started due to our State legislatures bouncing around from House to Senate and vice versa. Sarah got caught in the middle.
"25 months"? Is that right? I'm a regular C4P reader, and I heard 2 years. If it's really 25 months, that explains why she is sitting it out until after the end of this month. Going to Waukee, IA on 9/3/11. Hopefully, she'll announce at that event. (?!)
