Man who looks just like John McCain decides not to run for President just four years after man who actually is John McCain lost to Obama

Mike Pence has decided not to run for president — preempting what would have been a very confusing campaign for most Americans.

“Is that John McCain?”.

No.

“Is that John McCain’s son?”.

To the best of our knowledge, no.

“Then, why does he look just like John McCain?”.

Why does anyone look like anyone else.  Personally, we think he’s going for a George Peppard on “The A-Team” look.  Perhaps “serious actor” Leslie Neilson, like in his brief appearance in ‘The Poseidon Adventure”. That’s apt, because running a man who looks just like John McCain four years after the man who actually IS John McCain would have been intensely stupid…a disaster of Shelley Winters trapped underwater proportions.

Of course, the Cocktail Party GOP establishment was pushing for this, but they are in fact intensely stupid so of course they would do that.

No one is trashing Mike Pence. Take a chill pill.

Mike Pence should run for Governor of Indiana, which we think he will do, and which we will support him on.

But it was an idiotic idea to run him for president. Visuals do matter, no matter how loathe the Cocktail Party is to admit that.

The criticism was aimed squarely at The Cocktail Party for the pushing of him. Which they had been doing.

Indeed he is going to run for Governor. I think Mitch Daniels has done a great job.

The GOP just took the Indiana House and got rid of Democrats who were protecting bad teachers for campaign money. As much as $87 for a lower State House seat. And a Union that through bad investments lost $47 million of state money was meant to buy health insurance.

Evan Bayh who could once of won Indiana without lifting a finger is backing out after his last 2 years of disgrace in the Senate have wrecked his chances of winning public office ever again. It is a shame.

Mike Pence never once said he was going to run for POTUS. The Governor role was the one he had in mind.

However, the LSM and others wanted him to run and kept on bringing up his name.

I think in the future he will be a potential candidate, but after he has had a run as governor.

      Good question.

      Like seven, I think.

      1. Mittens Romney
      2. Tim Pawlenty
      3. Mitch Daniels
      4. John Thune
      5. Mike Huckabee
      6. Newt Gingrich
      7. Jon Hunstman

      The seven dwarves.

Pence made the right decision. He is a nice man, wonderful husband and father, good conservative, and has a great voting record.

But, he has zero executive experience, and that is very important.

Being governor (which I am sure he will be) will give him that experience and let him run successfully in 10 years.

Being president is about more than just having the correct political positions. It also requires executive know-how, leadership, the ability to inspire people, a sense of humor, and the ability to cajole those from the other party to work with him/her. Pence needs to work on many of these things.

In Indiana, he can goof up on a few things and learn. As president, we cannot afford on-the-job training for him.

This decision means he is a wise man and will be ready to help us out when he’s done being governor.

      Miss Marple,

      Very well put.

Pence will be a great Governor.

He can run for President in 2020.

But, he will be up against Vice President Allen West at that time if he wants the nomination.

I am praying that if Pence is going for Mitch Daniel’s job, obviously term limited…
      DANIELS NEEDS TO CHALLENGE LUGAR!
May be substituting one RINO for another, but at least Daniels is coherent.
It’s a chess move, we can’t get it all quickly, but I’d take Daniels over that addled Alzheimer’s patient, Lugar any day!

        That would be great.

I would be worried a Tea Party candidate who is anti-establishment would split the Conservative vote letting Lugar win the Primary.

I wish there was a Tea Party primary before then the Republican Primary.

Honestly, I have never understood when people praise Daniels and say he is presidential nominee material.

He might be a nice man. He might be a good governor of Indiana.

But he is terrible as an extemporaneous speaker.

Bad in interviews. Bad in off the cuff bits. Not personable or engaging.

People who honestly think he would be a good choice in a matchup with Obama, who will have star power and the media behind him 100%, are just nuts.

I have had the opportunity to be on conference calls with Congressmen Pence and Ryan. I really admire both of these men and their passion for our country and its freedoms.

I am disappointed about Pence’s decision, but I am sure it’s right for him, his family, and his state. Here on the Right Coast, Gov. Palin does not stand a chance, unfortunately, no way, no how. You cannot even mention her name without enduring amazing vitriol. Pence wouldn’t have been hated, and he might have actually have carried the few more conservative of the states in this region.

Anyway, best wishes to Congressman Pence and the people of Indiana. This is great news for the state!

      aine235,

No matter who the GOP presidential candidate is, the media will gin up hate against that person.

John McCain was never hated by Democrats until 2008. Before then, he was always praised as a “maverick” because he most often did what Democrats want.

Then, in 2008, when he ran for President, unimaginable hate was fired at him.

Were you paying attention to the campaign?

The Left drew pictures of McCain with goblin teeth and blood coming out of his mouth. They called him a racist, a murderer, and attacked him with everything they could think of.

If you don’t think this will happen to anyone that is nominated, then you have not spent much time watching the Left.

And presidential campaigns always bring hateful junk out in the open. The conservatives, me being one, detested and loathed and still do Ohole when he was just a big-eared senator–the vitriol and “hate” is part of the landscape and will always be. Check out some of the vitriol from 18th c. campaigns. it makes us look tame.

why should you be disappointed in his decision. The man is making the right decision for his Presidential aspirations in the future.

I wish you people would think harder about the qualities and qualifications necessary to be POTUS.

It is this kind of thinking that landed the USA and the world with both Jimmah Carter and Doh’bama

Herman Cain has no government experience. There is a difference. Business executives do not always translate well into political leadership positions.

      Cain sounds good

but just like the Associated Press sent 11 reporters to review one of Sarah’s books – we need to independently corroborate this “business experience” before we go any further.

Sarah has decades of actual executive experience and the LSM and Cocktail Party dismisses it and all they repeat is she a quitter.

Well didn’t Cain “quit” a job to go work for Godfather’s Pizza (according to the uncorroborated self-reported bio)

Just like Romney’s purported “business genius.” Can we independently verify this? All we know about him is decades of running for president and RomneyCare!

FOX Special Report tonight, in their very great wisdom, ignored Palin in a discussion of presidential candidates. Mitch Daniels and the T-Paw are looking SO GOOD, doncha know! No TEA party candidates whatsoever. That Washington set is all orgiastic about Jay Carney, too! Give me strength to hold on until I can see the heads explode on these dimbulbs.

Krauthammer worked in the Jimmy Carter Administration. He also was a speech writer for Walter Mondale. It explains a lot about his disdain for Palin. He is now considered “conservative” but he was a hard core liberal and he has been a DC elitist for forever. No wonder Palin is so threatening to him and the status quo.

Remember that old movie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers? I always thought Mike Pence looked like a pod person that was taken out of the cocoon too soon. He is starting to get a little more definition in his looks now but a few years ago he was the most nondescript looking person I ever saw.

I’m glad that Pence decided not to run but I get the feeling that it’s part of the RINO master plan. The Rino’s assume that Obama is unbeatable and they certainly have no intention of challenging him head on. The big sissies. So, anyone who thinks that they are a “serious” contender is going to hang out and wait for 2016. Of course, they just may out smart themselves and do a reverse Clinton. Bush the Elder had such high poll numbers that the smarty pants set refused to run against him and a young governor from Arkansas waltzed in and took home all the marbles.

The so-called “A” team are going to hang back. They think they are depriving us of their wonderful presence but I say that just leaves the field clear for Palin. Of course, they are hoping that she fails and they want to teach the Tea Parties a lesson. Boy they will be shocked when she becomes President Palin.
