Leave Vera Baker Alone. She Did Not Have An Affair With Obama.
One of the more bizarre things we got dragged into on this site was the whole “Vera Baker, Mystery Woman” episode during the close of the 2008 general election campaign.
The GOP was convinced that Vera Baker, a former campaign fundraiser for Obama’s Senate race, had an affair with Obama and was then sent to Martinique to hide out during the election. Reportedly, Michelle Obama was so jealous of Baker that she “wanted to scratch her eyes out”, which is something she said about President Clinton as well. Michelle wants to scratch all sorts of people’s eyes out, none of whom have had an affair with Dr. Utopia.
AND, as Desiree Rogers proved, Michelle doesn’t have to think a woman is having an affair with anyone to start hating her and push her out. If a woman is prettier than her, she does not want that woman around. Rogers and Baker are both far prettier (and nicer) than the current First Lady. You do the math.
Because we’re in Chicago, and know a lot of the people that were involved in the Obama Senate campaign, especially the fundraising side, we were asked to look into Baker, find pictures of her, and try to establish the fact that she did indeed have an affair with Obama.
We never believed Obama had an affair with a woman, because Obama does not appear to like women.
As American Standard recently wondered, there are no former girlfriends, either on the scene or noted in any of the books William Ayers or Jon Favreau wrote for Obama. No high school girlfriends. No college sweethearts. But, there sure are plenty of men he’s spent an odd amount of time with.
Baker was a red herring in the campaign — but it was strange she disappeared to Martinique. We have no idea what she was doing down there, but she’s one of the top fundraisers for black political candidates in the world. She’s smart, she’s the best there is in her field, and she’s actually a very nice lady.
In the spring of 2009, one of us accidentally had lunch with Baker, at a little sandwich shop in Bronzeville called Munchie’s. We were there to brainstorm fundraising and visibility ideas for a black candidate we like very much — and we had no idea who the woman sitting next to us was. But, we shared a pot roast pizza with her, and at the end of the lunch meeting, everyone exchanged emails and she looked at ours, we looked at hers, and it was like that scene in Batman Returns where Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle were dancing and realized who each other really was.
“Oh, we need to talk,” is what Baker said.
And, so we did.
We are 100% convinced this wonderful young woman had no romantic relationship with Obama.
Because she is a woman, for one, but also because she’s happily married, and has a darling baby too.
There’s been a huge uptick in searches for “Vera Baker” on Google in the last two days, and we could not figure out why — until we saw that Globe magazine is running the old Obama affair story again. There’s nothing new to report — Globe’s just rehashing the same story from 2008, but now alleging Baker was given a job with Roland Burris as some sort of hush money to keep from talking about an affair with Obama.
That’s ridiculous.
Baker works for Burris because she’s damn good at what she does, is incredibly bright, and Baker’s well-connected with Burris’ team in Chicago. And, we repeat, she did not have an affair with Obama
This is all really suspicious, though, because during the campaign we truly believe the Obama team pushed the Baker affair story because they wanted people not to talk about Obama’s gay relationships.
Larry Sinclair, Reggie Jones, Kal Penn, Donald Young, nameless men at Man’s Country. You name it.
Who’s pushing the Baker business now, and why? Is there a himbo eruption coming for the White House, so they want to preemptively start rumors the current president is such a stud he’s bedding down a woman like Baker?
Could this have anything to do with the fact that, surreally, even people like Maureen Dowd have been hinting at a sexual relationship between Obama and his “basketball buddy” and “body man” Reggie Love…or is it linked to Kal Penn’s firing?
Is Penn threatening to talk?
Was he really robbed at gunpoint coincidentally in Dupont Circle, or was someone sending Penn a message not to talk about what went on with Obama?
It wouldn’t be the first time a man romantically linked to this president found himself in front of the business end of the gun.

I am truly amazed at how this man has succeeded in hiding his past. The longer this goes on, the scarier it gets. This man is truly frightening in that NO one knows anything about him. And the problem is – he’s not even that smart. And it takes intelligence to hide this. And he’s not that steely-eyed strong to do it – his childish temper tantrums when reporters write the most innocuous things about him is proof of that. And it’s not his courage – that butt of his sticking in the air as he grovels to dictators is proof that this man is a cringing loser. So HOW is this dumb, immature, weak-spined asshole able to cover up his past?
In this day and age of people finding out everything about a candidate, how in hell is it possible for no one to find out anything about this man? This man is one of the most famous people in history – and yet we know nothing of his past. We don’t even know where he was born. For God’s sake, how is this possible?
It is rather strange. There are obviously SOME people that have access to this material since they are the ones keeping it from others. I can’t tell, but it seems like one of two things.
1. There is actually nothing to hide. There is no birth certificate at all (there is a long form, but no real info on it which is why he won’t release it. In Hawaii, you can register someone from out of the country). His school records were so few that it wasn’t a big deal to set them aside.
2. People high up DO have access, but the people pulling the strings are higher still, so no one dares touch it.
I think it’s a combination of both. A perfect Manchurian candidate.
Most definitely, this is “Face in the Crowd” stuff- a movie definitely worth checking out. Said movie is eerily prescient about how mass media can be used as a weapon leading to such things as the foul rise of Utopia… an oldie starring Andy Griffith, Patricia Neal, and Walter Matthau.
Also, kudos to the buzz fellas for calmly and rationally laying out the case that this latest spate of delusional rumors about Ear leader is nothing but a beard to throw the masses off the man’s country trail.
And know one evens mentions the FACT that we NEVER saw his grandmother, she just happened to die the week before he won the election. Only talk of his family, no proof. Oh his sister, if she is? Even John McCain’s mother(in her 90′s)attended his campaigns, but Obama relatives, not once. Its is even more strange.
Yes, it is passing strange. The first president in U.S. history to have no extended family. Aside from his two daughters, if in fact they are his daughters, and an illegal immigrant aunt in Boston, all of his blood relatives are either in Kenya or Indonesia. He apparently has dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. in those countries but not in America. What other president has had so few relatives here?

Why was that news?

Nope…the story we read on it was in The Globe that’s on the newsstand now, dated May 10th.
They have Obama and a picture of Vera Baker on the cover.
That is her. She has a mole on her face like the woman in the picture, though the rest of her face is hidden by big glasses.
The Globe is claiming Baker was at a hotel having an affair, but Baker was probably there raising money for either Burris or another of her clients.
Like we said — met the woman. Had lunch with her. Shared pot roast pizza in Bronzeville.
Believe her when she says she is not involved in anything but doing her job as a fundraiser.
Her personality is also just not the sort to go after a married man. Trust us,we know those girls. She’s not that girl.

I was going to raise that same issue: that day where he gave the slip to the whole White House press corps (and maybe even the Secret Service? I don’t remember), and went not to any soccer game but rather to some semi-deserted place for, like, 15 or 20 minutes. Assignation? Drug deal? Payment to a blackmailer? Arranging a hit on someone?
Very, very weird–and there’s never been another word about it.

I was thinking the timing of Obama’s disappearance and Drudge’s bundle of headlines was suspicious. Something is bubbling in the cauldron…
One rumor that swirled briefly was that the soccer field is in the same neighborhood as the Kenyan Embassy, and a soccer game was a convenient excuse to visit the Embassy of his countrymen, allegedly to deal with birth certificate statements made by a Kenyan high muck-a-muck. Wasn’t the “soccer game” excuse discredited, in that the girls’ school didn’t have a game that day? As far as having a tryst with some gal, heaven knows the press corps would hardly be shocked. Truman, Reagan and W are the only presidents in my lifetime who weren’t rumored to screw around on their wives. Now a presidential tryst with a guy might get some attention. Nah … the press is so in the tank for him they’d make sure to say he was performing a secretive “charitable act” to improve international relations.

McCain requested that Obama send 3000 National Guard to the AZ border. I though this sounded strange – isn’t it the AZ Gov that deploys National Guard? Then I found this – Executive Order 13528, signed Jan 11 2010:
creating the Council of Governors removing the responsibility of the National Guard from the specific state governors to the Council appointed by the President.
So now the AZ Gov cannot deploy the AZ NG without approval from the President and his Council of Governors? Was anyone paying attention when this happened?
This bothers me a LOT. He just changed the rule, no debate, no peep from Congress, nothing? What else did he just change that we haven’t heard about? What else might he just change that we won’t know about?

The state-run media also refers constantly to the fact that barry was a “…professor of constitutional law”, when he was indeed no such thing. He gave a few college lectures on the subject, but was never a professor–tenured or not. Anyone, given the opportunity, can give a lecture; on any subject.
His being a so-called “constitutional scholar” was nothing more than a part-time lecturer position. His subject? Geared to affirmative action types, it was how to make the constitution work for you. How to get what’s due you. Obama was always upset that the constitution did not do enough FOR people. Like redistribution of wealth.
During Katrina, Bush asked Blanco to deploy the National Guard BEFORE the hurricane, to help evaculate the city. She would not. She didn’t want to “take orders” from Bush and she wanted to make the point that it was the Gov’s call to make. She actually continued to dither for another three days AFTER the storm. Some said at that point that perhaps Gov’s should not have the power to call the nat’l guard. Others argued that to do otherwise would be to usurp the constitution.
Obama does not care about the constitution, so…there you go.

I always thought Obama was “gay” too or at least more gay than straight. (Obviously he and Michelle must have had “carnal knowledge” at least a couple of times in order to have their daughters. Of course it’s possible Michelle has seen others but somehow I don’t think so.)
It’s just too bad that some people have become sacrificial lambs to keep Obama’s secrets and it sounds like Vera Baker is another one.
In a way it’s kind of sad. Michelle may not have known about Obama’s being gay until after she married him or maybe even after they had children together. This may account for her abrasive personality. I think the “perfect family image” is very important to her because I remember a “nasty” comment she made in reference to Hillary during the primaries – something to the effect that if people elected Obama they would have a normal or real (sorry can’t remember the exact quote) family in the White House.

Yes, you’re right about that. I was a teen-ager when JFK was president and it was a different time era but I remember seeing a documentary a few years ago narrated by, I believe, the late Peter Jennings. By that time it was well known about his affairs with Marilyn Monroe and Judith Exner (the “mafia connected gal”?) but I was shocked to say the least about what this documentary revealed. Apparently he never lacked for available women right in the White House. They were provided for him on a routine basis when he went swimming as part of his “exercise therapy” for his bad back. In comparison Bill Clinton looked like a “boyscout”.
When I was a kid, there were a lot of people who spread rumors about JFK’s women, and Joe Kennedy paying off Jackie to stay married to her priapic husband. As I got to be a teenager, I thought those things were just rumors spread by Republicans were were mad about losing. Then, the dam broke, and all the stuff I’d heard as a kid turned out to be true.

One of my favorites. I watch it about every 5 years. Still wonderful after all these years.
One of my favorites, too. Notice how the movie is almost entirely dialogue; very little “action” and only a few changes of scene. I don’t think a movie like that would be made today, it wouldn’t go over because people don’t have the attention span to concentrate on the drama created by character and plot development through intelligent conversation.

I’m inclined to believe that Vera Baker’s role may have had more to do with overseas campaign donations. Do some research on her. Her move to Martinique at that time was quite suspect considering she was a fundraiser. The West Indies is notorious for shell companies and banks that can launder money.
Maybe her role was not lover, but someone that could launder all of that overseas money that Obama famously took. It would be nice if someone looked into that fiasco. Like the Feds!

If a scandal about Obama’s homosexuality breaks, his presidency is over. African Americans will abandon him(I know my people). He will not have that racial wall to hide behind anymore. And then what will happen next is that we will start saying that he is not one of us because he is 1/2 white. You guys know how black people feel about gay people. I think that it is the only thing that will make most of us drop him like a hot potatoe.

Actually, I disagree with this. There will be a significant number of black Americans, who will see this as no big deal,(especially if the media spin this as such)just as they did with Clinton and Monica. If such evidence is ever revealed, there will be some shock but nothing earth shattering.
There’s a growing indifference, for a lack of better word, to homosexuality in the black community. I see it all the time. For instance in Florida, the only problem that many black people had with Charlie Crist was that he was a registered Republican. They were quite of aware of the “stuff” floating around about him and didn’t care.
Sure , such a revelation will sting some black people, but heck, it will sting a lot of Obama supporters of all colors and stripes, if true.

This is the first time that I’ve seen the passage of Prop 8 blamed on “first time conservative black voters” in CA. I would say no. Usually, the “blame” is placed at the feet of a coalition of black and Latino voters. Although, given that white people were instrumental at putting the issue on the ballot, I’m pretty sure a significant number of white Californians voted for this law…

Thanks for your reply. But I disagree with your arguement. Crist is not black so he does not concern us. Plus, a reason why so many of us love Obama is because of Michelle. Michelle gives Obama street credit in our community. Without Michelle, Obama may mot be POTUS. So any homosexuality in Obama would cause many of us to throw him under the bus. His relationship with a black woman would not be real. One thing I know about my people is how we feel about homosexuals. Gay people can be any other people but us.
As a human being, I am ashamed of this. My people do not respect people who do not fall into line with our beliefs. “Group Think” is what rules alot of us and we do not get the fact that we are controlled by people because of this. Jesse Jackson Sr. and Jr., Rev. Wright, Al Sharpton and many more us that “Group Think” against us to make money for themselves. I wish that it were different. Oblahblah being gay hits the nail on the head. I have often speculated that Michelle acts more like an emotionally abused wife. I’ve seen gay men try to make a marriage with a woman work- it ain’t pretty and the woman is much more miserable than the man, and is emotionally abused, if she actually loves him. For an ivy-league educated lawyer whose career was spent as a hospital administrator, she sure has nothing substantial to say about healthcare or anything else; only fashion and her children. Their marriage has always struck me as being 99.99% about Oblahblah. Michelle seems to always look pensive and on-guard, not at all the relaxed graciousness of Laura or the over-the-top confidence of Hillary, or the humor of Barbara, or the aristocracy of Nancy, and well, don’t remember much of Mrs. Carter and I was a pre-schooler with Nixon.

As most Duke fans know, especially those who were at Duke while Reggie Love was there, there is a humorous reason why Reggie Love was removed from the Basketball team for a few years until he returned in his fifth year at Duke. Previously, pictures showed up on the internet of Reggie Love passed out at a frat house at UNC in Chapel Hill (our rivals of course).
