IT BEGINS: Companies start layoffs before Obamacare hits next year.

Posted on November 9, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz

This is exactly why it was always unthinkable that Democrats would have a party advantage of (D+7) this year:  it seemed impossible that as many people would turn out for Democrats in 2012 as they did in 2008 when that would mean making Obamacare permanent and forcing companies to layoff millions of workers.

Here in Chicago, I know three or four companies that are downsizing to under 50 employees and another business that’s going to shutter completely because it just won’t be profitable to continue operating under Obamacare.

A while back I went to an event in Peoria and sat next to a man and woman who owned some sort of industrial parts-supplier outfit…and their 40-ish daughter was at the table too.  They told me the plan had always been for the daughter to takeover the business from them, but that the succession plan was going on hold until we saw what would happen with Obamacare.  This was back in 2010, not long after it had passed in the House.  This family employs about 80 people and the daughter was being groomed to continue the business so all of those jobs would be safe…but the owners said that they were just breaking even as it was and with Obamacare there would be no way for the daughter to inherit the company and keep it operational.  I bet those people are looking to sell or just close down shop right now.

It’s shocking that Americans voted to subject our country to this…but it might be an instance where people just don’t understand how bad things will get until they get burned by it.  Like little kids with a stove.  You can warn them all you want until you are blue in the face, but until they get burned they just won’t understand why you keep telling them not to touch the stove.

Americans, it would seem, needed to touch the hot stove and be burned by the full effects of Obamacare in the years ahead.

If you believe God always has a plan, then perhaps this was meant to prevent something even WORSE from happening in the future…if Americans in 2013 and 2014 see how terrible things will get, perhaps that will force a sea change against the Left in the future that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.  With several generations of kids brainwashed in Leftist public schools and completely devoted to the cult of Obama, maybe putting Obamacare into practice and having it ruin our economy was the only way to wake people up to the dangers of allowing Democrats so much power.

Hard times are ahead…but perhaps there is a spiritual master plan for why we’re going to have to endure all this.

Obama is speaking now stating he is doing an open invite to the WH for both parties and including business leaders to give their views as well.

I heard he wanted Mitt Romney’s advise on how to jump start the economy; that is incredible! His motto was Kill Mitt and he was venemous from the start. I wonder what will happen here.

Rush Limbaugh said he should make Mitt Secretary of Business, is that wise? That would secure the democrats winning again in 2016 if Obama is successful in turning the country around, esp. with Mitt’s help as he looks really bipartisan.

Who knows, I don’t want the democrats in successively forever and that is their intent by building a new base of Hispanics, etc.

These people will wake up and not be bound to the democrat party.
I think they can learn easily what the democrat party really stands for: progressive totaltarian government and I don’t believe these Hispanic immigrants, many coming from bad governments, want tyranny. They came here seeking freedom and capitalism is the best form of govt.

Hispanics and blacks will ALWAYS vote Democrat.

Generations upon generations have trained their children how to game the system in this country. Have lots of children…but tell the feds and state that he isn’t in the home…women get housing, food stamps, Medicaid, welfare payments…while daddy’s income is completely shielded. And if he works it right, he will work for cash…and avoid ever paying anything into the system. In fact, there are government contracts and thousands of jobs that are set aside for companies who hire a percentage of illegals. Nice, eh?

For every illegal given citizenship, they are able to then sponsor up to 56 people to come into the country.

      But, hey, why bother?

It is simple just to catch a bus and get off a block from your aunt’s house in Dallas,

It was only cheap talk for Election Night. There will be no working with the other side and Romney will be nowhere near the WH. Obama’s off to Asia, Petraeus has resigned over something any non-military Dem would have gotten away with, and ValJar is exacting her revenge.

    Kevin,
It is good to see you! I am still in shock, it seems surreal, the past few days. I have gone back and forth in my emotions, from depression, to sadness to fear, to thinking things will be OK, then back to depression. I spoke to my 83 yr old Mom this morning, she lives in another state, I needed to check on her. She truly believed that this election would be a landslide. She fears now that she will never see decency restored to the WH. We are both coming to grips with the outcome. Like you, we discussed that America has not hit rock bottom, that people have not suffered enough yet. But they will soon learn that there are consequences to elections. Unfortunately, we are all going to have to suffer. Things could have been so different if Romney had been elected and that makes me so sad. I want to thank you so very much for all of your efforts in the election! I am a new reader to the blog, and I have enjoyed your insightful posts. I have cut myself off from all media, I just could not take all of the rehashing, the should haves, the could haves. This goes for both the Democrats and Republicans. I still believe in my heart of hearts that there was massive fraud, that the Chicago machine was alive and well, but it is all water under the bridge now. My husband and I are in the process of deciding how we are going to weather the coming storm. Our minds are gradually becoming clearer as we get over the shock. Again, a BIG THANK YOU!! This will be the only place that I come to from now on, because I cannot stand the vicious and vile comments on so many of the other sites from people who won!! I am just going to block it all out.
    God Bless You and Justin!

Anyone have any suggestions on what would be good courses to take for future job prospects? I’m 56 year old female, so I don’t want to have YEARS of school ahead of me. Sorry to hear about the job loss. Health care is still a good field. Nursing Assistants take about 1 year of study and rotations in hospitals. This a mass shortage of ER docs, and Physician Assistants. So that reveals that people are using the ER more than ever. And, a NA would work out well, if you have a good personality. It just helps you get through some ruff stuff you will see. But its not all the time, and it can be very rewarding work
      Good Luck, keep us updated.

Health care is in a world of hurt–and I speak as an insider in the field. Your national insurers such as Cigna, Aetna, WellPoint and your state Blues will be gaining largely unprofitable new members through the mandates. They are already laying off. Look for major consolidations, especially among the single-state or partial state Blues. Humana and UnitedHealth are diversified into other service areas so may muddle through. Medicare–all cut back, Advantage may be eliminated after 2014. The only ones doing well will be a lot of the Medicaid insurers with big state contracts (Coventry, WellCare) and of course AARP. They will probably be bought by the nationals,

Health systems will be downsizing and buying practices. Doctors will be largely bound to physician groups reporting in to hospitals who squeeze for profitability. And the squeezing will be in the support jobs.

Try to find a place not affected by this. I’m certainly not as a marketer and communicator in the technology that’s supposed to be transforming healthcare, but can’t get funding beyond startup. I am trying to get out.

I can second the cuts in healthcare! I work in Hospice billing for a residence and home care. Our census is up but reimbursement dropped 1.3% this year and is expected to drop 2-3% the next several years. It doesn’t seem like much, but adds up quickly! It’s equivalent of about 365 days of care for one person.

I’ve been thinking – How much would Romney have accomplished in the next 2 years with dingy Harry still in charge of the senate. If he fell short the media would have torn him apart, leaving 2016 open for Obama to run again for his second term. The Republicans have some time to regroup, and if all these jobs continue to disappear, will be more likely to win in 2016.

My guess is that people thought that the suggestion that jobs would be lost was Republican scare tactics. In the beginning people will think that the job cuts are just the fat-cats punishing the “little guy” for voting for Obama and will call for the Dems to do something to punish heartless business owners.

It will probably take a while, after the Dems have their way and institute more draconian anti-business measures that cause even more economic damage, before the electorate wakes up and starts to give anti-left voters a majority large enough to preclude election theft from the left.

Oh Kevin. I grieve for my kids and their futures. My single, 21 yr old daughter in school who said “why would I ever want to have children someday in a country like this?” I grieve for the hard working, Godly small businesspeople, who have to watch their lifetime of effort flushed down the toilet. I feel physically ill and have since Tuesday. I pray hard to God to let me hand the burden of my sorrow to Him, but I am not doing a very good job of that either. Four years of working so hard to replace the creature in the Whitehouse, to no avail.

God has a plan. This election was stolen by software manipulation say 100 people vote and they tell the computer only count 20 Romney votes to every 100 Obama votes. I have a degree in programming that is exactly how software can be manipulated. That is what I said last night to Fred, if these machines do not go away we will never win another election. Unfortunately for them elections have consequences, God said let them endure another 4 years of this guy and they will be begging for an out. Other people’s money will run out eventually. Just stay employed. I cried myself to sleep Tuesday, went into work late Wednesday because I was still crying. He is truly testing our faith as a country, and we will prevail as a stronger nation. The next 4 years will be rough but in the end God will win.2 Thess. 3:10-11 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work , neither should he eat . 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

Julie, tell your daughter not to rule out children. My mother was born in 1935, in the middle of Great Depression I. My family has never been rich, but there are three daughters and three wonderful grandchildren as a result of my mother’s birth. My family has never been rich, and may never be, but my husband, my daughters and I are a strong, loving family, and soon, two strong young women with conservative values will be unleashed on the world. :)

Yesterday, a coworker told me with tears in her eyes that she had prayed fervently that the country be spared the destruction another Obama term would bring. She said, I don’t know if I should believe in God anymore with tears running down her cheek. What do you say when you are struggling with the same feeling? What exactly are the right words of encouragement?

Her pain is like my pain. Has God decided to wash his hands of us and flush us down the pot? On the way home from work, I’m searching for something to grab on to. Something that will put this into perspective. In a quiet and calm voice came “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” And out loud I said, but why all of this? The response was: “My work is not finished. It won’t be accomplished on your schedule, but you have not been abandoned. Walk by faith and not by sight.”

The left is having fits over on Twitchy about the layoffs citing that it’s because Republicans lost and want to punish Obama that this is happening. They have absolutely no concept of how a free market economy works–remember, for them everything is free and if you want something just repeat Unicorn Rainbow farts three times and it will appear.

I, like most Americans felt like the earth had been pulled from under me regarding Romney’s loss on Tuesday. I think it was the first time in my life that I have actually been awake for 24 hours. I literally could not sleep I was so distraught. I can truthfully say that I went through all five stages of grief. I have never in my life felt such distress. On Wednesday, I shut off all communication, shouted at God for a bit, cried some more and then just decided that this was bigger than me and instead of getting mad at God, look for the purpose. So, I turned to my Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth (BIBLE) and it opened to Proverbs 6:6-16-19. There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. And remember, anything you have to lie and cheat to get, you have to lie and cheat to keep.

Then I asked God what to do about it: 2 Chronicles 7:14. If my people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. That sealed it for me.

I opened my Founder’s bible which chronicles the unwavering commitment our Founding Fathers had to the importance for the Word of God for their lives and for shaping and guiding our society and the basis for our unique system of government and hence our exceptionalism. If you don’t have one, I highly recommend it for your family. It is must for every American especially since this is no longer being taught in our schools—hence the result of Tuesday’s election.

One thing I know for sure, God created Israel because He loved it and America was created because it loved God, we made a covenant with Him when we landed on these shores. The one thing that we know about Him, is that He is not a covenant breaker–He just wants us to come back to Him. We have allowed the left to steal/destroy our faith, our traditions, our families, our values, kill our babies, legislate immorality. Obama was elevated to godlike status, provoking God’s first and most important commandment—thou shall have no other gods before me and we wonder why we’re in the mess we’re in.

Thursday was a bright new day for me and I know what I have to do as an American who loves her country. Sorry for the long post, but I just had to get that out.

Ayn Rand’s book “Atlas Shrugs” is an excellent exposition of this — the definitive one, really — but at 1200 pages it is bloated. Parts could be excised without loss to the thrust and content. This would be a worthy project for the right person, to condense this book while leaving the essential passages complete, and so re-launch it as a tryly popular book.

If you haven’t read it, this book will astonish you with the power of its written word.

What a lot of Rand fans (and I’m one) don’t get about ‘going Galt’ is that it leaves most everybody behind save the groundbreaking ‘stars’ like Dagny Taggart, Hank Rearden (metal), Danneskjold (sp?) the pirate and the motor guy. The average, productive people who carry through the vision are left behind in the wreckage. Eddie Willers, the Taggart railroad executive who made it happen, is at the end of the book crying on his hands and knees before the last, stopped TT train.

I’ve wavered between believing that God, like Elvis, has left the building and where Lulu5297 is.

And you have a Texas A&M professor seriously saying she had a vision that Obama is an Apostle, and is making the talk show rounds with her book. Michael Medved actually had her on and wasted his airtime. (See FoxNews.com and his website)

This statement might have been plausible if we lived in a country were the media was 100% neutral.

    Kevin,
We just lived through fours years of Obama being propped up and Republicans and Bush in particular, being used as scapegoats for the failed policies of this government.

I guarantee you people will not put two and two together.they’ve already been program to believe Republicans are to blame for Obama not being able to right this countrys problems.
The thing about it is this:
Unless they see or hear about it on TV or in leftist newspapers or on the lefty blogs, they simply will not put 2 and 2 together on their own.And what are the chances that Obama’s propaganda machine will suddenly report the reality of what is happening?
    Nill

I promise you, when things start to go downhill, you will not hear reports tying Obama to the failings of this country.
The Obamaniks continue to be at war with us, the same way Muslims are at war with America. They won’t let up.

I must disagree slightly. You won’t convince dedicated leftists. Trying to do so is a waste of your valuable time. The people you want to reach are those in the middle. Low information voters who are not political junkies often don’t know all the details. Many people who voted in this election, for example, still think that the economy is in trouble as the result of Bush’s policies. They think this because it is the meme pushed by The Elite Media Monoculture. What is needed is to to get the facts out to those who are open to them, but who do not normally follow these discussions and debates. They can be persuaded if we offer a good argument, and if we can find them.

I also noted in my blog post today the record layoffs and the market’s 3rd day of sell off since the Democrats won on Tuesday – What “Winning” actually means for the democrats.

    “Winning” Democrats Celebrate Gridlock

The results from Tuesday night’s election tally means, we are in for at least two more years of gridlock. Voters voted for status quo. The democrats hold the presidency, and the senate, the republicans hold the house, so no change. It’s going to be like ground hog day up in here for the foreseeable future.

I so agree, and have been saying that to people. Today O’ said in his speech, the “American people agree with him” to raise taxes on the wealthy! It is going to be the same old same old, but with worse results this time, because of Obamacare. The Wealthy will be just fine, the poor will get help, its the middle class that is going to really suffer. He got 50% of the vote, but Romney almost 49%. He is so darn arrogant.

Obama got 50% of the vote, with only 60% turnout. So he only has 30% agreeing with him. The majority does not agree with him, only 50% of the people who actually voted are with him.

Obama received 9million less votes than 2008. Romney had 2 million less than McCain. Yet, the lines were long all over the country to vote. Romney had bigger rallies than Obama. So where did those voters go? I am sorry, I might have to put on a tinfoil hat and say something is rotten. This should have been a blow out for Romney. With as corrupt as this administration is, I put nothing past them. There are wards/districts in PA and OH where Romney got ZERO votes. Zero? I could see maybe a few here and there, but there were districts in the double digits where Romney got zero votes????

I would really like to see a way to find out how many in each of these swing states actually voted for Romney and compare them to the “official” numbers.

I’m going to go out on a limb to make a bold prediction that Obamacare will be a bust by the end of Obama’s presidency. As of election day, a Rasmussen poll showed that 54% of the people wanted it repealed. More than half don’t like it just from hearing about it, before actually experiencing it. That number will go up at least 10 to 20 points within two years of its inception.

Obamacare is not like other entitlement programs where you do nothing and collect “free crap” as Steven Crowder refers to it. Yes, once you get something just by doing nothing you don’t want it to stop. But no one wants to pay for something and get less than it’s worth in return. Obamacare is perceived to be an entitlement to free medical care but in the end you get nothing for free and when the people see that, they will not like it. The majority will want it completely reformed.

The Supreme Court allowed states to opt out of the Medicaid expansion. With more than 30 states now Republican controlled, many if not most will opt out. Fact is, the states just can’t afford it. Millions will not get Medicaid in these states. They too will want it repealed and replaced with a better system.

Doctors are already refusing to accept medicare patients. Under Obamacare, their payments will be far less than what private insurance is paying them. My Primary Care Physician told me what medicare pays now, is less than what it costs to do business. A few years ago the Mayo Clinic announced they will stop accepting medicare patients at all of their facilities. More will follow as successful hospitals and medical centers are out to make money, not just provide quality healthcare. Those on medicare who live in sparsely populated areas will either not be able to find a doctor who accepts them or have to travel to find one. Furthermore, the best doctors don’t need to accept medicare. They are busy enough with patients on private insurance. So those on the Gov’t dole will be stuck with mediocre medical care at best with long waits to get an appointment. And, doctors cannot legally be forced to accept Obamacare patients, nor should they. That puts life at risk. The Democrats theme of “Republicans want you to die” should be changed to “Democrats want you to die”

I live in an upper middle class area. Most of the residents have families and are employed by large corporations. Once Obamacare kicks in, theses companies will drop the expensive insurance coverage for a family and opt to pay the much cheaper penalty. They’ve been threatening to do this and I have no reason to believe they’re bluffing. Not only would the families be forced to give up private insurance with excellent coverage, but wealthier people would feel humiliated and embarrassed to be forced onto a government entitlement perceived to be a program for poor people.

Other than the reasons stated above, there are and will be many court challenges to smaller things in that law. Additionally, the 20 plus tax increases they snuck in will become reality and that will be another stake in the heart. These taxes aren’t only affecting the rich as middle class people buy houses and invest money. Papa Johns Pizza announced they will raise the cost of their pizza to compensate the additional cost of Obamacare. Others will do the same raising the cost of goods and services that both the lower and middle class use. And last, record number of employees will either be fired or cut down to part time hours. Part timers making less money will be forced to pay the $600 fee themselves. Imagine being forced to pay that kind of money and then not being able to get decent medical care anyway.

Right now it sounds good to the 46% of the people who don’t want it repealed but that will change when it directly affects them and their health.

(if it’s a white child…nothing will be said and no media will care) Then they Might see that there are not currently enough qualified providers to add millions more onto the healthcare roles. Hi Kevin, first time poster here. Here’s what i think your money quote is: “but it might be an instance where people just don’t understand how bad things will get until they get burned by it.”
How many smart, educated, even conservative folks have you known in your life who seem unable to learn from the poor decisions of others?
They have to make their own mistakes, and feel the consequences. They just can’t make the leap from “he did this, and this happened” to “i do this, and this will happen”.
At least i hope to God this is part of the problem. Meaning, my thoughts above assume people will eventually learn; i confess, i’m not fully convinced of that anymore. :-(

I also think the people who voted for Oblahblah are gripped with something like an addiction — to either him or his visions and dreams (and, let’s be honest, the handouts). But like all addictions, you have to hit bottom before you recognize that there’s a problem.

Yes, I do believe there’s a spiritual master plan for what’s happening. I think God is giving us the opportunity to test our mettle. The worst thing we could do is become complacent or apathetic or too compromising. God keep us strong in the coming battle.

It is our only salvation that God has a plan and He is in control.

The majority did NOT vote for Obama. We have witnessed a peaceful Marxist takeover of the United States. (I guess we should be grateful that it was peaceful instead of the genocide that usually takes place when Marxists overrun a nation.)

Only two corporations count all the votes across the country, and one of those corporations is foreign. How hard is it to make the outcome of an election what you want it to be?

Marxists around the world were holding their collective breath that possibly Romney would be elected and turn the US away from its headlong rush into Marxism.

Those in control decided to just take things over. Now we have four more years of Obama, our combination Marxist/radical Islam sympathizer, and world Marxists couldn’t be happier.

God is our only hope. But I’m afraid things are going to get very ugly before they get better. I’m not trying to be negative, but we need to prepare now, while there is still a little time, for the United States to descend into a Marxist third world mess.

I’m hopeful still, even in the face of such evil, because God does love us, and the majority of the people in the United States are good, decent, God fearing people and there is a bright future on the horizon. However, there will be some dark days ahead before we can expect that bright future.

We have been put on notice. He is doing this because he is following the Croward Piven radical method of overwhelming the welfare system to overthrow the government as we know it. The rule is to overwhelm and overburden so it is easy to overthrow and replace with socialism. Then all personal wealth is redistributed. Once we are destittute we become dependent slaves of the government. Dont shoot me, I am only the messenger. And to think, America could have had a decent guy named Romney who would have repealed it. and I’m thinking I’m don’t care if I earn that much money again. Do you realize that IC’s have to pay self employment taxes as well as social security, as well as income taxes on my earnings? That’s a lot of money to see the government squander and not appreciate! Of course, I had to buy my own healthcare which has a $3,000 annual deductible, in addition to the monthly premiums and copays. So, guess what? I don’t know that I’m going to bust my rear so hard to fork over money for Obama to misuse and not appreciate. I don’t think I’m the only IC or small business owner who feels this way. So, as a different spin on this, Obama’s re-election has served to demotivate me and I hope that the smaller tax amounts I owe will serve to make the entitlement freebies come to a screeching halt, sooner rather than later! Heck, I might just go stand in line with my hand out and cry for my Obama phone and food stamps! He was advertising in Mexico last year telling prospective illegal aliens how to apply and receive food stamps after they’ve successfully entered our country. Why not me? Well, it won’t be me because that’s not who I am and what I’m made of but I think you all get my point. The sooner they can’t pay for entitlements, the sooner the party will be over! I agree with you Eliza. I’m ashamed and embarrassed of America. These people have broken the First Commandment and area now kneeling at the altar of big government, headed by the High Priest, that Marxist/Islamic sympathiser, obama, along with his Pharisees, the Congress and Senate, aided by his Scribes, the self-serving, lying, cover-up “all-the-news-we-decide-you-should-know” media.

On this Veteran’s day, I can’t apologize enough to the current military and our veterans for America spitting in their faces. These men and women put it all on the line for gimmee gimme “entitlement” freaks who could care less about their own personal freedoms and how hard our active military and veterans have fought and died for them.

May God forgive us and have mercy on our Republic is exactly right. We are in for a long, hard slog. I have little hope right now.

      Food for thought?

The Republicans should CLEARLY outline our objections to each and every Democratic proposal put forth. The we should get out of the way and allow the Democrats to pass ALL of their plans….then they OWN IT! If we go over the fiscal cliff….well, guess what…we’re heading there anyway! But CLEARLY DEFINE our objections, but in a ‘spirit of cooperation’ we should help them achieve all their goals!

      Thoughts?

Kevin, you are totally right – people need to be badly off before they can see what’s happening. Also, when people had no jobs in the Great Depression or even the 1970s, they couldn’t afford a car or flatscreen TV – now they can, because our nation has become so prosperous since the Reagan years. So, things will have to continue to go downhill even more, and with the Bush tax cuts expiring, new taxes coming in January and the many (many!) taxes coming with Obamacare in the next few years, that might finally wake people up. Meanwhile, I think there is hope that when people start getting money taken out of their bank accounts for Obamacare or have to wait a year to get an MRI or years to see a specialist, they will get too pissed off and do something about it.

After going through all the seven Kubler-Ross stages of grief, I now
have the solution/answer to finally, FINALLY, defeating the Libs.

    “LET IT BURN!”

Give them every single thing they want. Do absolutley nothing to
stand in their way of continuing their agenda. Do not critize, do not
yell and scream about how they’re destroying this country.

Just simply let them do it. Period.

It’ll take less than two years to accomplish this. Just in time for the 2014 midterms. The very nick of time, as it works out.

By then, their policies will have all but finished the job of destroying
the country. And, by then, enough people will have finally come to
their senses that they’ll be virtually begging our side to come riding
to the rescue. Which will probably result in veto-proof majorities in
both houses of congress, so it won’t matter who is president.

So, that’s my plan. LET IT BURN!

Remember, the Phoenix didn’t rise up of nothing, it rose up out of
    the ashes. Ashes!

    LET IT BURN!

Kevin, your comment about leftest brainwashed children in our public schools really hit home. I work at a public school and the new program is called Common Core. I have been doing some research on this. It is not good. It was written by a man named David Coleman, who has never taught a class in his life. He did his research for this with a grant from the Bill Gates foundation. It has ties the UN Agenda 21 project. Obama, with the help of William Ayers (the sixties radical) pushed this on the states when they accepted the stimulus money I am still trying to connect all the dots but this is very, very wrong.
Here a few of things that I found: It is a secular curriculum. The only science that is taught is global warming. Cursive writing will not longer be taught. Students will not be given any background information on the literature that they will read, so they can draw their on own conclusions (Imagine reading Huck Finn without a little background information).
If your readers have children in public school you need to get informed quickly!

On top of the lay-offs, the entire industry of contract workers will be virtually extinct in the next few years. Kevin, please ask your friends who do contract work how they feel about the effect of ObamaScare. I do contract work and it’s not going to be pretty. NO ONE expects that it will provide us with health care and are taking bets on how long it takes to kill off the industry.

Since ObamaScare says that full time employment is 30-hours a week, we all expect to have our hours to be reduced to 28 hours or shifted to independent contractor status – 1099s. As a 1099 IC, we won’t get raises to pay all the payroll taxes, no overtime, paying huge lump sums for quarterly tax payments, and hounded by the IRS because they LOVE to audit ICs. Most likely, lots of agencies will just go out of business which is what the lefties want. They want to make beggars out of all of us.

I believe you will see independent contractor positions soaring soon. One of my “Go Obama!” friends in the neighborhood here who’s husband has an MBA and worked for the one the MAJOR corporations here in Chicago for 13 years has been a “contract employee” for the past 2 years —– with no health insurance. Luckily, he could be added to her health plan at her menial full-time job (until her hours are cut). What she doesn’t realize is that her husband, will never again see true full-time employment again. He will be a “contractor” for the rest of his working life bouncing around annually as from what I’ve gathered these contract positions in Hell-Annoy can only last for 1 year by law. I’ve seen this before in the auto industry with middle aged men. Good luck.

And again, the local business that is frequently put in their place by Hillbuzz had a a group of people raising their shot glasses of Kool-Aid last wee chanting “This one’s for Obamacare!” just this week. I wasn’t sure if my response of “Is that what they call biting off your nose to spite your face means?” because I wasn’t quite sure but it was the first thing that came to mind but somebody else replied, “Yes, you’re absolutely correct”.

Thanks Kevin for coming back so soon to us. Missed your wit & wisdom. I hope you were able to relax & revive.

I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying here. My brother-in-law is being laid off the end of Nov. after 27 years due to cutbacks in federal contracts.

I feel a deep compassion for all those who are suffering now & are going to suffer due to the choices that were made. Most people have to learn by experience. As my dad used to say, “You made your bed, now you are going to have to lay in it.”

I wailed Tuesday night as my lifelong friend “America” was being pulled off of life support. I cried out, “Lord, how could this be happening? Why? Haven’t You heard our prayers & examined our hearts? Have You forsaken us because we are so despicable & degenerate?” I cried & mourned Weds the loss of my lifelong friend “America”. I began searching the Scriptures for solace yet I continued to mourn & be despondent.

I woke on Thursday morning having slept better than I have slept in almost 4 years. I realized that I felt at peace & filled with a renewed sense of resolve & a feeling that my LORD was near giving me purpose & direction. Scripture after Scripture flowed into my head.

I know that I am not supposed to waste energy on being angry or despondent, but use that energy to draw nearer to God, strengthen myself & my family, love my neighbor, pray for those who are & will suffer, continue to take care of those things that the Lord puts in my path to do, & prepare.

I can do nothing by fretting the “big picture” as I had been doing (DUH to me) as it is not mine to control or fix.

Yes, God has this all in His plan & under His control, & we need to be praying that we are aligned with Him (not Him with us). We need to be ready to pick up the pieces when things go from bad to worse. When people see our strength, faith & joy in the face of adversity, they will wonder why. They will ask & we will have the opportunity to tell them.

I am sad to say that voicing my opinion on the election has made me somewhat of a pariah; very few of my friends live on their own, and even fewer understand what it is to build your own business up from the ground. Watch all the hispanics, blacks, women, and other leftist look on in horror as more and more companies go under! As for our business, we are open seven nights a week and have a super low overhead. We will persevere the coming recession, though we may not be able to grow and expand as quickly as we’d like now with all the new taxes that are coming.

I’m actually not too surprised though, they had a hispanic woman on NPR on Election Day, and the only reason she had for voting for Obama was that “he has more to offer our people.” BS, I am here as proof that not every Hispanic person in the country supports illegal immigration and the welfare lifestyle. Give the younger generation a little time and they will HAVE to wise up to what unchecked spending and an entitlement attitude can result in. Here in Texas, unlike the rest of the country, Romney got 30 percent of the Latino vote for those that did show up.

Ted Cruz got almost 40 %!

And have you seen George P. Bush (nephew to George Bush and son of Jeb Bush) hubba-hubba. What a hunk!

His mother is from South America so he looks hispanic and he got all her good looks. He’s also articulate. He’s pushing for hispanics for republican and doing a lot over here in Texas to get hispanics pushed toward the republican party.

But still what a hunk! He’s going to be running for statewide office in upcoming elections in Texas. Who knew a Bush could look so good.

Ted Cruz and Rick Perry are really working hard to get hispanics into the republican fold. The democrats say they’ll make Texas a swing state in a few years, but with all the great work going on with Cruz, Hunk-Bush, and Perry I think they’re going to get a run for their money.

We won’t go down New Mexico’s road without a helluva fight!

It’s clear that Hunk-Bush has aspirations of running for president one day (years from now). I think Ryan will run and he’ll probably choose either Rubio or maybe Martinez for a running mate. (for the hispanic vote).

But after him, I think Hunk-Bush will have built his career up enough. Until then, we get this knockout all to ourselves in Texas. :D

Too bad his hairline is receding a little. :/

For the most part, I’ve come to terms with what happened and so has my family. I’m comforted that Texas went so hard conservative. It wasn’t even close for Obama here. So Texas will stay republican for some time to come, especially with them working hard (and starting succeed) in winning over hispanics.

It’s time to try and move on. Our time will come. The democrats will destroy a lot, but the US is a strong country. It will endure. We fight on. We live. We enjoy. We bide our time.

More than 10 years ago, I was in Moscow on a business trip. By then, the USSR had disappeared. There were signs of capitalism in the city. But, there were also a lot of people who didn’t know what to do with it. These were the people who didn’t know that they could innovate, and be motivated to take advantage of the climate that was before them. When I boarded the Moscow subway and when I boarded their buses, there were still the glazed looks in the eyes of some of the passengers. In others, they continued to look down. More than one instances, I almost bumped into someone drunk. What’s my point? If there is a recovery for this country, do you think we will have people who know how to innovate or to pursue a dream business? Should there be a sea change in this country, the ones who had been successful will no longer be around to mentor…

I’d thought I was done crying this week. But when I heard this news this morning, I broke down again. In my heart of hearts, I know God has a plan and His ways are not our ways and it’ll all come together in the end. But this hurts. It hurts because I didn’t want it and I didn’t ask for it. It hurts because we worked so hard – everyone from Team Romney/Ryan down to people putting bumper stickers on their cars busted their behinds to get this thing done. And America is so far gone down the entitlement road that all our best efforts were for nothing. I’m tired of listening to the GOP Elites blame the Romney campaign for not doing this or that – this is people’s LIVES that are about to be ruined. We’ve got half of the country that believes they are entitled to government freebies just by virtue of having a pulse. Stop playing these stupid political games and be serious!

(My rage is directed at the GOP – not any of my fellow HillBuzzers. Just so you know)

Democrats disgust me. I’ve been a lifelong conservative, so the left has always been my opponent, but this year has been the first year they’ve truly sickened me. The next time some idiot Leftist goes on about how compassionate they are, I will go postal and never mind if they’re a friend or stranger. Giving free handouts to people without requiring a darn thing is the most selfish and heartless thing you could do to a person. Five years ago, I served a mission for my church in Florida. Part of my service was ministering to people in the government housing projects (most of whom were African-American). Those projects – I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t let my dog live in such squalor. And Leftists offer that as a housing for human beings??? At least when slavery was a thing, people actually called it slavery. Now, Leftists pretty much own minorities, but they call it “being compassionate” when it is anything but. This is just like Kevin telling us all to say “leftist” instead of “liberal” – they need to be called on the carpet for the BS they pull and quit hiding behind all these stupid word games. Leftists treat minorities like helpless children who cannot provide or make decisions for themselves. They’ve crippled minorities for generations and it’ll take even longer to reverse the damage, if it ever gets reversed at all. Conservatives tell minorities that they can own a business, get an education, be the governor of New Mexico as long as they put in the work to do it.

I know I went off on a tangent and I apologize for that, but I have so much rage about this whole thing. There is not one person to blame, but the progressive/leftist/elitist/whatever-you-call-ist movement that has transformed the country I love dearly. We have our work cut out for us and we will do it. And perhaps God has more for us to learn from this experience – I don’t know. I have had so much anger these last few days and I don’t know what to do with it. I will say that I’m grateful for HillBuzz and Kevin and all of you. I feel like this has been a wonderful place for us all to congregate and help each other through this. This certainly isn’t the way I thought this week would go, but I’m glad that I have this community to lean on.

Kevin, I’m a true believer in the power of intention. Wayne Dyer, a hero of mine, has a book entitle just that, “The Power of Intention”, I appreciated that you are looking for a goodness in such an unfortunate outcome. When life goes in a direction we can’t understand, we will be blessed with a greater intuition and perhaps, peace, when we accept that we don’t know all things and that there is always something in play under the current.

God is a force of goodness and we must trust that He sees all. We may not understand this path we are taking, but God sees all. Kevin, Oftentimes, it must get worse before it gets better. I know. Isn’t it “worse” already? In comparison to where we’ve been and where we are now, it does seem “worse”, but we must move ahead and trust that we are being shaped for a greater purpose down the road.

In every corner of our lives, we must understand that power of intention is in play. From the conversation you have with a cashier, the book on the shelf that screams at you to look closer or the struggle that in placed in your path. Seek out why this comes to you and what lesson you are asked to learn. Perfect your soul. It’s one of the greatest gifts in this human experience. That is why must fight to protect the freedom of each individual to live out this human experience as freely and lawfully as possible, because this life is about lessons. Our individual lessons. But it’s always about how we assist others in doing the same. We must not rob one another from our life lessons, from perfecting the human spirit, We can’t know all, but we must trust in the goodness of God that does know all. Peace.

Oh, they got the “votes” alright, but not without STUFFING the ballot boxes and switching R votes to O votes.
The socialists have been trying to fundamentally transform this country since FDR.

Rather than be saddened or complain, I prefer to simply invest and/or save as much money as I possibly can overseas in a currency that is not US dollars. By doing this I’m insulating my money from the government that may want to get it’s hands on it. Also If I choose carefully I could end up putting my money in an institution that doesn’t pay taxes to the government; thus cutting the government further by denying whatever taxes would be payed by the institution in question from any profit it has made based on my money.

Second I would refrain from buying anything from a company based solely on states like Hawai’i or California as I have little wish to support those, or any other leftist state governments.

Third I will try to brush up on Tax Law to pay the least amount of taxes possible, that way I get to keep more and I spread my hard-earned salary less.

These few things are not only CONCRETE things I can do to show my dissatisfaction with liberals and liberalism. It is also something that benefits me without advocating incivility.

If any fellow conservatives are reading, and it is within your possibilities. I would advise doing the same.

The good news is they were all Obama voters, so they got what they deserve. The bad news is I was the ONLY Romney voter, so they took me down with them. What’s astounding is that the CEO also voted for Obama even in light of the upcoming costs. Now his business, in operation for 30+ years, is gone. I have no sympathy for any of them.

This is what happens when Econ 101 is phased out of HS & College curricula, and replaced with Marxist/Socialist dependency for the last 20-30 yrs. You get a public primed for someone who will exploit them to the fullest. A public that is kept pliable with “bread and circuses.”

H.L.Mencken wrote of FDR in an obituary that FDR was the “first American to penetrate to the real depths of vulgar stupidity. He never made the mistake of overestimating the intelligence of the American mob [notice the word, "mob."]. He was its unparalleled professor.”

Obama is the second “unparalleled professor.” There is nothing new.

Harden College Extension Department made a cartoon three years after FDR’s death. They defend the American values of freedom, liberty, and private property rights. They also warn of the “isms” that can erode the American foundation.

Obviously, not everyone was part of the mob back then, and not everyone is part of the “mob,” today.

But Obama said they would get free stuff, he didn’t say anything about the possibility of getting hours cut or losing your job… Proof positive that Obama supporters are complete idiots who are not capable of rational thought…. All they saw was the free stuff, with no concern of how it was going to be paid for… I agree, Kevin, I know God has a plan and it may have to get really bad before the gimme crowd sees that no matter what the Dems (from here on known as the Destructive Party) promise they lie.
