Is "time to turn a page" some kind of code that even we, in Boystown, don't know about?

Posted on August 31, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Please tell us if it’s just us, but every time we see the current president touch men — especially very nice looking ones, or ones in uniform — he just seems to get this particular look on his face.

Like he’s Liberace at a Chippendales show in Vegas.

Or Charlie Crist on speedo patrol at Island House in Key West.

Or Rahm Emanuel sizing up a fresh batch of male interns.

And the guys Obama touches always seem creeped out, if not outright sick to their stomachs.

It’s just all so very weird.

Why touch his shoulder?  Why not shake his  hand?

We’ve shaken his hand, when he was running for the Senate, and it was as limp and cold as an old, flopping fish.

So, maybe that’s why he does that weird shoulder rub thing to soldiers, because they’d probably crush his dainty digits in their kung-fu grips.

Whispering “it’s time to turn a page” to these guys is weird, too.

We can’t wait to turn a page ourselves….to a day in 2013 when the person who is president is an actual Commander-in-Chief we can all be proud of.

‘Whispering “it’s time to turn a page” to these guys is weird, too.’

Probably something he ‘picked up’ in the Senate.

Oh, and I guess everyone knows that “shoulder on the hand” is a power play move communicating “I am in control here – over you.”

That was my first thought when I saw that photo earlier on another site….he makes my skin crawl. It looks like the soldier is looking down at his arm and thinking, “You’ve got 2 seconds to get your paws off me, jerk.”

    Or something like that.

I read somewhere the other day when the “president” was going to be speaking to some military somewhere that they were told in advance to act enthusiastic.

‘Turn the page’ I think is Obama code for ‘lets forget about Iraq and how I opposed it, I won.’

Had a boss who always said when touching the guys on the shoulder, ‘I treat all people alike’ The gaydar always went off when he did that.

    • perries says:
      2010/09/01 at 12:51 am

“Turn the page” also has the implication of being a logical thing to do – why do you have the book if you’re not turning the pages?

Yet another oh so subtle attempt to make his opponents look like they’re irrational.

    • jmp1970 says:

could it not simply be the way the flag draped??? Seriously, there is no dirth of things to criticize this Pres for, like the display of family photos staged behind him was so canned and irrelevent to his 2nd address from the oval office. That irked me, while the presidential seal could more easily be inadvertant. (God forbid if it was any of the above intentions)

    • Solaratov says:
      2010/08/31 at 11:24 pm

As much as I hate to defend that “person” – if you’re referring to the seal that can be seen over his shoulder, it’s on the presidential flag. That’s how it drapes naturally.
If the flag was stretched out straight (as in a breeze) the seal would be upright – as would the eagle.

It’s nothing to get excited about.

    • weavinplain says:
      2010/08/31 at 11:43 pm

I posted in another thread that it centers the word “President” which, if the seal were oriented properly, would be slanted down to the left (!).

This way, “President” is right over the Anointed One’s head.

      In big letters.

      So you know who won.

      • perries says:
        2010/09/01 at 12:52 am

Or maybe it is to his base, which seems to be made up of people dumb enough to need a sign to remind them after 2 years.

      • JF says:
        2010/09/01 at 9:06 am

Is this some new urban democrat thing? When Kwame Kilpatrick was still mayor of Detroit, he had his shirt sleeves embroidered with the word, “Mayor”. Øbama has taken this to a new extreme.

    • yobrogo says:
      2010/09/01 at 12:03 am

Actually, the seal was ot hung crooked. It appears to be a flag and that is how it drapes when not flying straight out.

    • looking4galt says:
      2010/09/01 at 12:15 pm

I think it is because he wanted “President” at the top, rather than “of the”-the only message he was transmitting is “It’s all about ME.”

  • palinpatriot says:
    2010/08/31 at 10:29 pm

I actually have seen him do that to EVERY man he meets. Wondered why he does it. I really think it makes him think he is letting the other guy know he is superior to them…more dominant or something icky like that. Since he can’t subdue them by showing them his tiny penis, he has to resort to some man handling.

    • yobrogo says:
      2010/08/31 at 11:11 pm

I tend to agree. Putting his hand on their shoulder probably makes HIM feel superior to their lowly selves. These men have more integrity in their big toe than BO will ever hope to have!

    • Blake Flint says:
      2010/09/01 at 9:42 am

If he EVER touched me like that I’d retort with my standard firm statement: “Please, don’t touch me.” That is just my immediate reaction, “president” or not.
I hate being touched in a familiar fashion by strangers, unless it is in a crowd or they are cute :)
(Not a big fan of handshakes either, but I had to get over that years ago.)

    • suburbanite says:

Makes you wonder about his inferiority complex that he has to be the big dog wherever he goes. What’s he going to do when 2012 results are in? Throw a tantrum? I hope so and I hope that everyone can see the man-child that he really is.

    • Kathy from Kansas says:
      2010/09/01 at 11:47 am

      palinpatriot,
I think you are correct. I have read Gavin de Becker’s books about how to spot people who are predators, and right now I’m reading a book called “Never Be Lied To Again” about how to spot liars and make them be honest.

My guess is you’re absolutely right. Invading people’s “personal space” and especially touching them can be a way to try to establish intimacy where there is none, or to let people know who’s boss.

    From American Thinker:

Department of Justice ditches red, white and blue stars and stripes
    Bruce Cunningham
Well, how interesting! It seems the U.S. Department of Justice has changed its website. Gone are the colorful red, white and blue U.S. flag decorations on the page,

replaced by stark black and white.

And at the top of the page, is a rather interesting quote:

“The common law is the will of mankind, issuing from the life of the people.”

Catchy, huh? Just one tiny little (too small to be relevant obviously) point — the quote is from C. Wilfred Jenks, who in the 1930′s was a leading proponent of the “international law” movement, which had as its goal to impose a global common law and which backed ‘global workers’ rights.’

Call it Marxism, call it Progressivism, call it Socialism — under any of those names it definitely makes the DOJ look corrupt in their sleek, new black website with Marxist accessories to match.

    See for yourself: http://www.justice.gov/

How very interesting that ‘they’ couldn’t find a nice quote from one of our Founders. People, we have lost our Republic. We need to get it back ASAP.

    Hat tip: American Spectator

That phrase: “The common law is the will of mankind, issuing from the life of the people” reminds me of the slogan that the Soviets used during the height or their power: “dictatorship of the proleteriate.” As someone who loves freedom in this country, I really scowled when I read that slogan of the soviets. My interpretation is that the rule of law is only legitimate when it benefits the proleteriate, which sends us down a slippery slope of a “living set of laws.”

      • suburbanite says:
        2010/09/01 at 10:22 am

One other thought, it is by this same slogan that Stalin issued so many of his decrees to really persecute his foes. It was always with the idea that his actions someone were based on what benefited the “working people.” Doesn’t this sound familiar here?

Code? Yes. He means it’s time to turn over a White House Page. But just the boys.

From the U.S. House of Representatives Page Program website:

    http://tinyurl.com/TurnOverAPage ….

“Pages have been serving the House of Representatives for nearly two hundred years.

Working as a team, Pages assist Members with their legislative duties, deliver correspondence and small packages within the congressional complex, answer phones in the Member cloakrooms, and prepare the House Floor for sessions.”

So,yeah–Turn Over A Page in the cloakroom while President Obama delivers his small package.

    • Bijou says:
      2010/09/01 at 9:10 am

mike, I’ve been reading Drudge for years and also used to listen to him on his old radio show. He’s nothing if not shrewd.

I’ve noticed a creeping boldness on Matt’s part. He knows he has to play it very cagily, because he can’t alienate his many spies, for obvious reasons.

Unlike the LSM, Drudge knows better than to underestimate the astuteness of his readers. He very often ‘telegraphs’ things, either through the use of just the right caption, or tying a particular photo to just the right story, as in this case.
Drudge also has a deliciously wicked sense of humour.

    • Bijou says:
      2010/09/01 at 9:53 am

I found a slide show of 64 photos from the same ‘event’ at Fort Bliss.

I hate it when women do it, too…but can kind of understand, because I think some of them are just misguided and think it’s ‘ladylike’. UGH!

Given that he thinks of himself as a god, or as a second coming of le Roi soleil — if anything’s going to be plastered on his forehead, it would be the motto, L’état, c’est moi — he may think he’s simply exercising his royal prerogative and laying claim to a handsome lackey.

Yes boyz, if there is one thing I’ve learned, I really want to have a president I can be proud of, one who loves America in his or her core.

    Call me old-fashioned.

    • Kathy from Kansas says:

      Hear, hear!
So here’s the big question: Is there still enough of good ol’ America remaining that feels the way you do?

If so, THAT would be the way Sarah, despite all the obstacles, could actually win the presidency–i.e., after four years of having their noses rubbed in the stinking muck of America-hatred by this traitorous $#@!&^!?*#!, people would walk through fire to elect someone who, whatever her perceived deficiencies, most clearly and undeniably LOVES THIS COUNTRY!!!!!

  • MichelleIndependent says:

I just wonder if the ‘touch’ scalds and leaves a scar??? Years later, that young man is asked, ‘Did you get that burn when you served in Iraq?’ ‘Nah, it was from a photo op with, do you remember Obummah? Obwhatshisname…you know, the guy before President Palin.’

Hillbuzz, You are so right on about his dainty little girly handshake, my husband had to shake Obama’s hand during the campaign when he was working security. He felt that he had the hand of a man who had never really worked a day in his life – way too soft and womanly.

    • Bijou says:
      2010/09/01 at 9:57 am

      ‘Womanly’???
Diane, smile when you say that. LOL!

      • Dianne says:
        2010/09/01 at 3:18 pm

You’re right… using the word womanly is an insult to all women when used in Obama context. How about “way too soft and childlike”?? I guess that’s insulting to children… oh well, he is a man child.

O’s trying to fake concern and appreciation. Add “turn the page” to Obama’s stock phrases. Mark Knoller noted recently that many many issues were a “top priority” to O.

But, “Let me be clear.” This is “unprecedented.”

He was rather ungracious toward W. “No one can doubt W’s concern for military, patriotism…etc” Who doubted that? Oh, yeah, the wacky left. What was unsaid, “Nonetheless W’s an evil creep.” ????

A constant hand on a shoulder is a sign of trying to be alpha. Touching someone without constraint is a position of power. Yes, and add some fake empathy to boot.

I’m in charge and I care, message. When in reality it just means I’m in charge.

If it were just occasional, it would mean very little. For it to be constant, reveals much more. Barry isn’t like Bush who is a huggy type. So for Barry to try to do that sort of thing is posturing.

    • Kathy from Kansas says:

Since BO first started campaigning, one of the things that immediately put me off is his ‘overfamiliarity’ with people.

He often touches people inappropriately and I find it just bizarre.
I think he feels so uncomfortable and secretly knows he is undeserving and unfit for the office, that he tries to ‘defuse’ his own tension by trying to act just like ‘one of the guys’.

Speaking of ‘guys’…that’s another thing that drives me up the wall. He calls everybody from the press corpse to a roomful of generals ‘guys’.
Mooch is guilty of the same thing to a lesser degree, except for the time she put her hand on Queen Elizabeth. I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Bill Clinton had a “familiarity” that came naturally. A way of putting people at ease. It wouldn’t surprise me if this one is trying to emulate that, which is why it is forced and creepy looking – he just doesn’t have it.

      • Kathy from Kansas says:
        2010/09/01 at 12:25 pm

        Bingo.
I loathed Bill Clinton (which is one of the things that makes this site so amazing–if someone had told me three years ago that I’d be hanging out with former Clintonistas….) — but you’ve gotta give the guy this: He was/is one heck of a schmoozer. That warm Southern accent, that combination of high intellect with genuine man-of-the-people folksiness… He could charm the socks right off of–wait, better not go there.

Just wait until you see what I have in mind. I have the powa.” The guy on the left is about to yell “STFU!!! You’re a effing idiot.”

    • Kathy from Kansas says:
      2010/09/01 at 12:28 pm

      • yobrogo says:
        2010/09/01 at 6:53 pm

Well, he is not genuinely smiling; there are no laugh lines around his eyes. He looks more worried; could just be he is nervous because the younger soldier is not hiding his sentiments and is not holding eye contact with the president. At first glance it does look like this man is enjoying himself, but the eyes and forehead tell a different story. He is observing the president’s reaction; gaging the tension. Well, that is how I see it but then maybe I have watched too many episodes of “Lie to Me”!

Great comments from everyone. I agree with Bijou in that I am creeped out by a limp handshake. I make an immediate assessment of those I meet based on the handshake. I had a boss who was like that and my immediate response was that he didn’t care and only wanted to make an appearance.

GW Bush, like Clinton, was also comfortable in his own skin and often reached out to someone hurting, and by all means “his” troops. Loved them. But what I noticed is that he looked them all in the eye and if he discerned they would welcome a more personal touch would put an arm around a shoulder, or playfully pop an arm. He always had a 6th sense about who needed a hug or a joke. I miss that about him and Bill Clinton. This person does not seem capable of understanding what these guys have gone through. That would include his own catastrophicly insensitive words about their capability to surge and in more recent times, whether they were going to get the troops to fight in Afghanistan their leader[s] said were needed or left there to be picked off. Ask Vietnam Vets about feeling like cannon fodder – and they never forget. Neither will these young men and women.

Boyz – almost 20 years ago a former governor from NJ [McGreevy] was a state senator and mayor. Since I was friends with one of his vendors, we had occasion to meet several times. His handshake was so cold, clammy, and painfully weak that those kind of handshakes were deemed “McGreevy” handshakes. This had nothing to do with his “Gay American-ness”. We all knew he was gay. The press knew he was gay. The political world knew he was gay. No one batted an eye about it, NJ being the center left state that it is. If he was doing his job, it was no one’s business. But just as you warn often, he was subject to blackmail by his special friend, Golan.

This phony POS knows exactly what and who he is, that he is a con man, but unlike a really good con man , he does not have the real confidence to convince anyone[unless they are slightly dimwitted] and needs to resort to practiced props. He is very afraid that his phoniness will be found out.

    • Kathy from Kansas says:
      2010/09/01 at 12:40 pm

I think one of the differences is that someone like a Bill Clinton was a good con man, but it was because he was his OWN man. Whereas Barky is just a useful puppet to Bill Ayers, George Soros and others. He’s a con man, all right, but he’s following someone else’s game plan–so he’s not his own person.

Indeed, the whole reason the Soros gang PICKED Obama was, I think, that they KNEW he was dysfunctional and had a bunch of pathology, and therefore he could be more easily manipulated to their ends.
Whereas Hillary, for example, is much more her own person and might not have gone along with everything they wanted.

There’s also the very real possibility, as many here have pointed out, that Obama is actually being blackmailed.
